kirito goes through about three seperate identity crises after ggo - mostly consisting of asking “why do i like people seeing me as a girl so much?” over and over again until The Realisation Hits

it’s a few months later that she comes out as a trans girl

sinon comes out not too long after and the pair have a running joke that they just swapped genders. they think they’re hilarious.

kirito helps sinon do his testosterone shots - sinon never really gets better with needles after the ordeal with kyouji

sinon usually sits on his bed and kirito talks him through it while she does the shot for him. they get ice cream after and sinon buys plenty of fun bandaids

sinon has to text kirito to remind her to take her estrogen because she forgets a lot

at least, she says she forgets. she’s really just gaming and gets too distracted to take it

kirito doesn’t change her ggo avatar, but sinon does. he spends a week resetting his avatar over and over until he gets one he thinks looks cool

kirito: bi trans guy, he/him sometimes he/they. somewhere on the ace spectrum, maybe demisexual? eventually he gets used to his ggo avatar and even sometimes likes dressing a little more feminine. he’s a guy but like… if he ordered his gender from wish.

asuna: cis… for now. she/they. pansexual but she doesn’t realise it for a long time. she had a bunch of crushes on her school friends without realising. mito and lisbeth make her start questioning things but she doesn’t settle on a label until she starts crushing on yuuki. kirito and lisbeth laugh because it took her so long.

lisbeth: queer. she/they/he. honestly i think lisbeth just doesn’t care about labels or what people call her. has reaction memes of cats with pride flags for literally any occasion.

again on the topic of trans sao characters the other day when i was searching for sinon’s address on google maps i found a school that based on novel description of location could be her high school and the uniform looked like hers too. the boys wore green ties and the girls wore red ties, and while sinon has a red tie in the anime, in the novel her tie is described as green. anyway tldr sinon canon trans too in my brain. what sorta trans? up to you to decide
