Don’t get me wrong, I am happy with Yato being alive and well, and he doesn’t even need to care about being forgotten, he is a living meme now. But that’s the reason. He has become just some funny figure to remember.

But wait a minute ☝️

Remember the previous chapter?

All those frames showing Yato sacrificing himself, desperately wanting for Hiyori to live so much he forgets about his own life. That was a powerful, satisfying and impactful scene. The final bow to his character growth, the path he came from being selfish prick thinking about his own survival to the God he has always wanted to be, to help those who needs him. Even if it means the death to him.

In early chapters we have seen this comparison of Yato and Ebisu.

At this moment he has finally achieved the point where he is no more “envy”, because he has become “a god who would give away his life for the sake of those who love him”. This is the apex of his own story.

Impressive isn’t it?

Returning to the scene itself, we can’t help but notice how serene is world around them. It’s the scenery of calming snow, next are Bishamon and Kazuma, lovingly sitting next to each other and peacefully enjoying the calmness of the evening after their own “storm”. This all sets the tone of the tranquility, even detachment of the world, that is surrounding Yato and those who are with him. And then there is Yato himself, looking at heavens, at the snow, alone, almost forsaken.

That’s why the moment of a desperate attempt for saving Hiyori’s life is such a memorable moment. It’s the opposition of indifferent background to raging emotions of our group. If this was a painting, then saving Hiyori would be the central point of composition, the brightest spot on the canvas.

What a great point of the story. It is serious, it is dramatic. It is beautiful. It is impactful.

Watching Yato disappearing in the storm of emotions surrounded by unbreakable appeasement.

And now back to the point!

It seems that such a turning point for the character, for the plot as a whole, cannot be thought out more perfectly. Chapter 108 and, in general, Adachitoka's incredible work in it have exceeded all my expectations for the final chapter. Expectations of how such a serious and powerful situation can be resolved.

But now we have Chapter 109, and all the epicness of the moment described above simply gets lost in the hustle and bustle, seasoned with Noragami's typical humor (which I love, don't get me wrong!). The mood from Yato's sacrifice, which he was willing to make for the person dear to him, just dissipates.

My only emotions after seeing the resolution of this plot twist were confusion and a feeling like after watching a movie that ended abruptly in the middle. Of course it is a way to keep him alive, of course it’s good for him.

But as I said at the beginning - I wish it would have been another way. Just something that follows the mood that has been set in the previous chapter, of the darkest and saddest moment in the whole manga, something we were afraid about from the beginning of the story itself - Yato may disappear and Hiyori may die.

can we talk about how so many of us practically grew up with noragami? many of us here are now adults who have liked this series since we were kids. we really stuck around long enough to see it through to the end. it's commendable, honestly. waiting in agony every month for whatever hell adatchitoka wanted us to go through was an experience in itself, and this comment made me chuckle thinking about it.

well, they weren't wrong! i have so much love for this series and the journey i had with it from start to finish. noragami is never leaving my heart and mind, and this sick empty feeling when a series i love ends will haunt me for the rest of my days. thank you for all these years. goodbye noragami <3

To everyone saying they didn't like the last chapter, do you know why suddenly adachitoka announced the ending when none of it felt complete at the time?

I mean i definitely dont know for sure, but its important to realize its likely the manga sales, they dropped off at some point so adachitoka had to wrap it up and not only that they have a many health issues cause hiatus over the years.

I know a majority of the fandom on tumblr reads fastmoons scans, i know i do and i know the economy is shit and lots of us cant even buy the volumes in support even so im not blaming anyone.

But you gotta cut the authors some slack here, they probably had so much left to tell and write and they probably wanted to explain the plotholes and fill in more info.

But because it was the end..they wanted to end it in a happy way and i believe thats just fine, i just finished reading it and im content with how it ended considering the circumstances.

Its okay to not like the ending i guess, but dont let the reason why be because of something the authors couldnt control.

- Yato can be clingy at times, especially when you’ve been busy for a while. ((He’s highly affectionate, and will definitely steal you away for snuggles, if he can.))

- He loves randomly popping up out of nowhere and surprising you. ((Sometimes, a kiss to the cheek, or a surprise hug— Occasionally, even a random bouquet of flowers…))

- Yato likes to follow you around at work/school, and occasionally helps to complete small tasks. He takes full advantage of the fact people struggle to see him.

- Yato loves being in your presence, whether the two of you are just sitting in silence or talking— It doesn’t matter to him, so long as he’s with you.

- He’s incredibly patient with you, despite how childish he may seem at times.

- Yato despite his clinginess, does allow you your space. However, he’s incredibly protective. (( If he ever feels as though someone will harm you, he becomes surprisingly vicious. It’s moments like those that remind you, he was once known as a god of Calamity.))

- Yato loves taking naps with you, and is surprisingly cat like in his habits. After a nap, you may wake up to find him sprawled out across your stomach, or curled up against your side. It’s incredibly cute, and Yato surprisingly, takes an hour or so to fully wake up.

- Yato’s not incredibly possessive, but he does make it known that you’re his S/O. (( Sometimes, he does this himself by trailing harsh kisses across your form, and sometimes when he’s got a request, he’ll leave you with a trace of his energy. Regardless, there is an unspoken ‘do not touch’ agreement regarding you amongst the rest of the gods, lest Yato truly snap—))
