Manipur Violence: Venting out...

These mainlanders be waking up now that Manipur is in total ruin and chaos, where were they since May? All these politician, actors, celebrities...where were they? It takes women to lose their dignity for these people to wake up from their slumber... shame on them, and shame on all who stayed quiet.

A child being burned alive in front of his parents... women being paraded naked and molested... homes destroyed... lives taken... Where were they? Now that it's finally trending on social media, these celebs are showing how 'shocked' they are? F*ck your shock and f*ck your sympathy I say. The centre and state has been quiet all this time, doing nothing and now you are showing your apology and condolence?

Like always, for mainland India, North East is just a territory, the people don't mean sh*t. Northeasterners are Indians only when convenient to you, only when you need to showcase your so-called diversity.

Important announcement for all my dear blog readers!

Nômoskār guys! Ogni here. As you might have noticed, I haven't been able to update this blog as much as before. Tbh, I'm really caught up with college and have too many projects to work on. Meine Ansichten zur Hindi (हिन्दी) Sprache

Glückliches Hindi Diwas! हिन्दी दिवस की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ!

Hindi Diwas wird jedes Jahr am 14. September beobachtet, um die Hindi-Sprache zu feiern. Dieser Tag spiegelt auch den Wunsch der Hindi-Sprecher wider, Hindi als die Landessprache Indiens zu sehen.

Aber wäre das eine kluge Wahl? (Bitte lesen Sie nur weiter, wenn Sie eine offene Einstellung haben und bereit sind, widersprüchliche Ansichten anzuhören, ohne politisch zu werden.)

Mal sehen, was wir mit Hindi meinen. Hindi ist das Sanskritized Register der Hindustani-Sprache. Es gibt auch ein persianisiertes Register der Hindustani, Urdu, das derzeit die Landessprache Pakistans ist. Hindi und Urdu sind gegenseitig verständlich, weil sie tatsächlich dieselbe Sprache sind. Das umfangreiche Hinzufügen von Sanskrit- oder Perso-Arabischen Wörtern und das Entfernen derselben, je nachdem, ob es sich um Hindi oder Urdu handelt, erschwert es jedoch selbst Muttersprachlern, sich gegenseitig zu verstehen. Auch das Schreiben von Skripten ist für beide unterschiedlich. Hindi verwendet das Devanagari-Skript, während Urdu das Nastaliq-Skript verwendet. Dies macht es für Hindustani-Sprecher weiter schwierig, sich gegenseitig zu verstehen, da sie das Skript, das die andere Person verwendet, möglicherweise nicht kennen.

Sehen wir uns ein Beispiel an ...

Hindi: आपका नाम क्या है?

Urdu: آپ کا نام کیا ہے؟

Beide Sätze lauteten: Āpkā nām kyā hai? (Wie ist dein Name?)

Um besser zu verstehen, beziehen wir uns auf die englische Sprache. Überlegen Sie, was passieren würde, wenn die Hälfte der englischsprachigen Bevölkerung das griechische Alphabet zum Schreiben von Englisch verwendet, während die andere Hälfte Latein verwendet. Es würde eine Art Sprachbarriere schaffen. Nehmen wir weiter an, die Hälfte mit griechischen Buchstaben beschließt, mehr griechische und französische Wörter in ihren Wortschatz aufzunehmen, weil sie für sie wirklich cool klingen, während die anderen beschließen, zu ihren germanischen Wurzeln zurückzukehren und so langsam Lehnwörter wegzuschneiden und Aufnahmewörter aus dem Altenglischen und sogar aus dem Deutschen! Denken Sie an das Chaos!

Genau so üben Hindustani-Sprecher seit etwa einigen Jahrhunderten ihre Sprache.

Die Hindi-Sprache, so scheint es mir, ist ein Ergebnis der politischen Bedürfnisse des Landes. Bitte lassen Sie sich von meinen Worten nicht beleidigen. Hindi ist nicht sehr natürlich.

Lassen Sie mich klarstellen, ich hasse weder die Hindi-Sprache noch irgendeine andere Sprache.

Ich bin selbst Muttersprachler von Hindi (Hindustani?). Ich spreche es seit meiner Kindheit und habe in der Schule sogar Hindi gelernt. Ich glaube, Hindi ist eine schöne Sprache, die das Potenzial hat, weiter zu wachsen. Als mehrsprachige Person kann ich jedoch ohne Zweifel sagen, dass Hindi in keiner Weise überlegen ist als Englisch oder Bangla / Bengali oder eine andere indische Sprache.

Meiner Meinung nach macht es keinen Sinn, eine sehr junge Sprache, die sich aus den politischen Bedürfnissen des Subkontinents mit vergleichsweise wenig Literatur zusammensetzt, als Landessprache der indischen Nation zu etablieren.

Sie können argumentieren, dass es die am meisten gesprochene Sprache des Landes ist, aber die Tatsache bleibt, dass es in Indien mehr nicht Hindi sprechende Inder gibt als die gesamte Hindi sprechende Bevölkerung der Welt derzeit. Sprachen wie Tamilisch, Bangla, Odia, Axomiya, Punjabi oder Marathi können gleichermaßen die Landessprachen sein

Ich lebe in einer nicht Hindi sprechenden Region und habe gesehen, wie meine Kollegen in der Schule mit einer Sprache zu kämpfen haben, die sie nicht verstehen und nicht lernen möchten. Da sie keine Muttersprachler der Sprache sind, schneiden sie im Vergleich zu Muttersprachlern im Fach offensichtlich schlecht ab. Man könnte sagen, sie könnten sich einfach an einem anderen Institut einschreiben, aber das ist in fast allen indischen Schulen gleich. Es ist eine Schande, dass die Inder heute damit einverstanden sind, die englische Sprache rauszuschmeißen, aber blind für die interne kulturelle Kolonisierung sind, die von der Hindi-Sprache ausgeht.

Sollten die Leute aufhören, Hindi zu lernen und zu benutzen? Nein! Lass die Dinge einfach laufen. Wir brauchen keine staatlichen Eingriffe, damit sich Sprachen entwickeln, verbreiten oder schrumpfen können.

Hindi zur Landessprache Indiens zu machen, ist in jeder Hinsicht undemokratisch. Das Auferlegen von Sprachen muss gestoppt werden. Hindi ist nicht die Sprache Indiens, es ist nur eine der vielen schönen indischen Sprachen.

Manipur Violence

As a few of you might be aware, there’s communal violence occurring in the state of Manipur right now. It’s sad that most mainlanders are either completely unaware or do not give a f*ck about it. If you are one of them, here are some news links you can read to educate yourself. I bet if this sort of thing happened in West Bengal, Maharashtra or Uttar Pradesh, it’d become national news… but of course India doesn’t care about its North East. None of my friends here in Odisha, except the North-Easterners know about it :) Meitei, Kuki and Naga lives matter as much as those of mainlanders, so kindly amplify!

Recent reads: I read very little but on my nightstand there are the Jungle Book (Rudyard Kipling) and One Thousand and One Nights (Sir Richard Francis Burton) unfinished.

Inspiration: all polyglots and language learners, out-side-of-the-box-thinkers, their-own-path-seekers, work-or-study-juggling parents, late bloomers and therapy-goers around the world, plus my dad.

Story behind URL: Soup is something that gets better the longer it simmers, and I sort of hope that will happen to my Hindi skills too.

Fun fact about me: I'm semi-ambidextrous. There are things I do better with left hand than right hand (like writing), but many things I can do with both or only with right hand (like use the scissors).
