Språkdagbok, fem januar
Så jeg sliter fortsatt. Jeg savner norsk, men den eneste appen som er gratis med norsk er Duolingo. Har du laget en liste over andre kilder til norsk? Ja, det har jeg. Er de gode? Ja. Bruker jeg dem til å forbedre noe av det jeg har lært? Nei.

This is a norwegian language learning blog!
I am a native Norwegian speaker and I am going to be using this blog to teach Norwegian
I'll be focusing on Norwegian book-language (norsk bokmål), the most common of the languages called Norwegian. If you want to learn nynorsk (newnorwegian) as well I'd reccomend just reading newnorwegian after learning bokmål.
disclaimer that I'm not a teacher by profession or education or anything.
resources: ordbøkene.no (dictionary in norwegian), Lexin ordbok (dictionary with translations for many languages), NDLA (target audience of norwegians but includes grammar details), bnorsk (free norwegian course), lifeinnorway (english language blog that teaches norwegian)

noticing as I learn different languages I tend to think using the shortest word from any of those languages, so for example instead of "this is" or "dette er", I'll just automatically think "c'est"
So my proposal is a creole of every language in which we find the shortest syllabic way to say every single word and speak at maximum efficiency

My favourite thing about (most) Germanic languages:
Norwegian: due (pigeon), drue (grape)
Danish: due (pigeon), drue (grape)
Swedish: duva (pigeon), druva (grape)
Dutch: duif (pigeon), druif (grape)
Afrikaans: duif (pigeon), druif (grape)
Frisian: duif (pigeon), druif (grape)
German: Taube (pigeon), Traube (grape)
A few notable outliers: English, Scots, Icelandic

So I’ve been taking Norwegian for a few years and am pretty good, I can read books and understand if someone is speaking to me. But today I decided to play geoguessr map games but with Norsk Bokmål(Norwegian) as my language. And I learned something wonderful. Norwegians call Austria, Østrikke, which sounds normal, until you realize that it directly translates to “Cheese Kingdom”
I love this language

That feeling when you slowly start to piece together/understand lines from a song in your target language. That “oh shit wait I get it now” moment

I have a headcanon that norway is actually really good at speaking (eu) spanish as spanish is the most popular language norwegians choose to learn in high school (with german being the next most popular, he's probably fluent in that too lmao) what am saying is; norway could probably hold a conversation with Spain without any problem🇪🇸🗣️
(also let's be real, norway would probably need to speak/understand spanish as spain is his hollyday paradise😂)
Come on, you don't need to know Spanish to go on holiday there?? We know there's only one phrase you'd need to know how to say when in Spain 😎 /j

today i learned the japanese word だるい / だる and it's pretty much the japanese equivalent of norwegian "jeg orker ikke" ie "i don't have the energy for/i can't be bothered/i don't wanna" and i love it
