i dont vibe with most of the aesthetic posts under therian/nonhuman/kin tags. theres a lot of forest pics, forest themes or just nature and wilderness and i feel disconnected. sure it can be fine sometimes, sometimes i enjoy nature. but i dont really love it. i love cities. i love neon, i love bridges, i love railroads, i love wires. my home smells of wet asphalt, dusty blocks, dirty cars and cold steel. i would rather lost in overwhelming smells of the city than ramble in a calm forest. i would rather sleep on a big comfy sofa than on a pile of leaves. i prefer stealing human sweets over hunting for a raw meat. i am very spoiled urban dog. and none of my kintypes is wild. and yes, life in the city can be hard, and sometimes i get scared by elevators or crowds or loud noises but life far from city would make me really really unhappy. if past lives are real thing then all my past beastselves lived in a city. i know that i am minority in therian community, but i cant be the only one.

for me my species dysphoria isnt about lacking its about wrong. lacking isnt that bad, for example i wish i had tail but theres a lot of cats without tail. but. i have a hands with fingers but they arent right, i have kind of claws but they arent as curved and shaped and moving as i want it. my face is wrong, my eyes arent that big and oblong i need them to be. my body is there but its not in right size and shape. its here but its wrong, its just doesnt feel right.

Lancelot

The sun is blistering hot, so I take shelter beneath the green leaves of a tree. The thought occurs to me that when I had left the castle, that hate soaked order thundering through me, that it had been autumn. Has it really been that long since I was sent off on this quest? How much longer would it take to find the grail…If I did would my sins be forgiven? Will I be able to fulfill my purpose and serve as their knight once more? It’s strange, but part of me hopes for something else.

I slayed a worm a few days ago, it was wound around a tree and struck at any poor soul who came too close to the forest…The people were grateful but I couldn't help but wonder…Were we made for a similar purpose? Someday when I die, will there be someone grateful that I am gone? There definitely are people out there who hate me for the things I have done. In any case I could not stay, only rubble was left of whatever the worm was guarding, there was no grail hidden in the ruins and so my orders drove me onward. Some nights I wonder if I'm searching for an impossible thing, if this is my punishment for trying to be more than what I was made to be…Will I ever see Guinivere again? Would I even know her if I did? I don't know if I can change as she can, I was made to be a knight…Though I look like a person, I came into the world fully formed and I have not changed since. My hair does not grow unless it is cut, my skin does not scar, I cannot change even if I wanted to…I am the perfect knight, created to protect the greatest kingdom. Suppose this quest takes 100 years…and I am still living, will there even be anyone I know when I return? Will I return to find a new ruler, holding my amok, ready to make use of me again? I don't know if I could bear it…I can only hope that my king and my creator were kind, that this is not a fool's errand, afterall if they had wanted to kill me…all it would have taken is the snap of their fingers.

Guinevere asked me once…what I would do if I were master of my fate. I didn’t understand her question at first, until she elaborated.

“Well…sometimes I think about what I would have liked to be, had I not been married to Arthur. I think I would have quite liked to travel, to experience as much of this land as I could and maybe what lies beyond it…” I remember the strangely bitter yet wistful look that crossed her face, before she turned to me, expectant…I had answered simply,

“I don't think there's anything I want.” For some reason, that made her look quite sad. It’s strange now that I think about it…I am living what she dreamed of doing, soon I will be forced across the sea to continue my search, and I know if she were in my place she would be overjoyed…Yet all I want is to see her again. I suppose that’s my answer, if I were master of my fate…I would go back to Camelot and I would be perfect and I would obey my king…so long as I could be near her…I wonder if that answer would make her happy.
