2. My Only 12% (2022)
Childhood friends to lovers done right! My favorite show of the last year. It is a slooooow burn but it's so worth it! Very lively and real boys. great family and friend dynamics, kind of meh last story outside of CakeEwi but still…If you want some great friendship slowly blooming into romance this is the show
3. Kieta Hatsukoi (2021)
Super cute show. All characters are amazing, story well written, minimum hurt all the comfort. Good girl-not an enemy (im really easy too please ( •̯́ ₃ •̯̀) xd)
4. 30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii (2020)aka Cherry magic
JapBL are totally for me when they do fluff, (cause their angst is on a such level I need a lifetime to process it xd)
but this one is so fluffy (ฅ́ ˘ฅ̀)♡ They make me happy and I grateful for it
5. My Ride (2022)
Speaking of fluff °ʚ(´꒳`)ɞ° Other couples are kind of boring But! Mork's uncles, MorkTawan's adopted son (still a bit salty we didnt see him again, Tawan should've had more parenting time, he is clearly a great dad ଘ(੭◌ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ♡‧₊˚) natural growth of their friendship into love *_*. This one is good!
6.Color Rush (2020)
I love soulmates. Its short, simple story but with very interesting and original idea.
7. Hello Stranger (2020)
Such a simple story but the way it was done is amazing! Falling in love through web camera (੭ ˊ^ˋ)੭ ♡ Characters have such an incredible chemistry even tho they have minimum personal contact(kudos to actors they done well)))
I Will Knock You (2022)
Okay, yes age gap not for everyone. But again it was done very respectful.

Good fluffy fluff. P'Phu and his bunny are so precious. Main are cute and sweet and adorable. Ignore weird girl and doctor everything else is just so lovely

the season is over and there are a lot of thoughts, even more thots. anyway.
we've got carlos who finished p5, same as last year, equaling his best ever but he got 81,5 more points this year (the 0,5 is from spa). that's huge. especially considering his 6 dnf's, the fact that he was, at least after last race, the driver with the least amount of laps. carlos also won his first race this year, my beloved silverstone, something he was so deserving of and was a long time coming. he got three pole positions, two of those on merit and one because of a grid drop, and managed to snag 9 podiums.
let's just talk about that for a moment. nine podiums. before this year, he had a combined number of 6 podiums, two from mclaren and four from ferrari. he tried his best at all times, and showed what a great team player he is, although i know there are certain people out there who will disagree on that. but the thing is that fact doesn't care about feelings and it's a fact that carlos was a tremendous asset to ferrari this whole season, not only because of his driving but because of his assertiveness and how, even when driving 300 km/h, he manages to strategies both his own race and his teammate's.
this man has shown such growth in his time with the red team. he's a born leader. someone who is calm and collected at all times and can think and react in a crisis or when he's clearly being fucked over by some bad strategy calls. he's someone who dares stand his ground and he gets treated with respect because he knows what he wants, know what he can do and understands what needs to be done. carlos had a wonderful season marred by very few errors and a bunch of bad luck and i can't wait to see him take on 2023.
and then there's lando norris. best of the rest. p7 which is a drop from last year but we didn't even expect top 10 at the start of the season. hasn't gone out in q1 in quali since germany 2019, the only driver outside of the top 3 teams to break the 100+ point barriers, fought the whole season against a pair of drivers who were in a superior car pace-wise yet managed to outscore both of them. that valiant fight almost handed mclaren p4 in the championship fight, but it was not to be. the only driver outside of the top 3 teams, alongside zhou, to get the fastest lap (he even got 2!), the only driver outside of rbr, ferrari and merc to get a podium, the official f1 1,5 champion, teammate vs teammate quali champion. ended the season with 85 more points than his teammate, basically keeping mclaren afloat.
do i need to go on? it's ridiculous that people out there keep on underestimating him when he's one of the most consistent drivers on the grid, with one of the worst cars. his most amazing drive this year was when he was more dead than alive from tonsillitis, and one of his best quali showings was while he had food poisoning in brazil, which just goes to show how much he wants to do well for his team and how much the team means to him (that's not to say that i liked how the doctors and higher-ups allowed him on track).
it's incomprehensible that there are people out there who literally hate him for doing his job, showing how great he is in mid-machinery, and for showing actual personality instead of a run-of-the-mill pr persona. especially since their faves show nothing but love and adoration towards him. it's doesn't matter what driver it is - carlos, lewis, seb, alex, george, yuki, este, max, kevin, daniel and yes, even pierre - they all love him; some even adore him.
he is the future of f1 and he is in great company. and he will prove that once and for all, given the right equipment. i'm optimistic as hell for 2023 and lando norris.

Season 1, episodes 1-6
I forgot how good the writing and animation are in the first season, like they truly thrived under aniplex😔 the brief white blood period in I think season 3 shows us just how good we had it
I love seeing Hawk and Meliodas's relationship, and his star Boar earring😭 plus having the Boar hat as the main location is just so comforting !!
Also I JUST realized his name is hawk because of a ham hok😭😭 this is like when I realized toe mater's name was tomato at the ripe age of 18
I miss the holy knights being powerful. Like I get that the Sins are always more powerful than them, had a long way to go in terms of power ups, and meliodas straight up had most of his power sealed but like DAMN. They were so cool in season 1 !! Gil was such a badass😭 I guess I just wish that the holy knights powered up along with the Sins
Seeing the very first episode got me thinking about the original pilot Manga (chapter 0) and how cool it might have been !! Like I love the story we got, but I do think those versions of Mel and Elizabeth maybe would have been better than the ones we got😳 like I just really like Meli's original design, I feel like he looks a bit older, and chapter 0 Elizabeth is simply superior ngl. She's funny, brave, and assertive - a lot more like Liz and goddess Elizabeth, except funnier
The first half of season 1 has one of my fave intro and outros like damn I forgot how fucking cool they were. Some of my fave songs to !! (my all time fave is def howling from season 3 part 2 (i think lol) tho)

Everytime the fiddle (?) Music plays I get SO FUCKING HYPED BRO like damn Ik it's through all the seasonal and I'm so glad it is because it's rlly the perfect hype song - here it is on Spotify
Also Gil is such a badass in early episodes, I love his strength !! This moment is the fucking coolest and you can't convince me otherwise
Overall, I think the attention to detail is just better, the sounds the armor makes, the animation and drawings (esp background characters), Meliodas just sounds a bit older too (and I have theories on his voice here if u want them 👀)
The whole perv thing is really exhausting really quickly. Almost surprised 14 year old me made it through this as the 2nd anime I ever watched and the 1st I watched alone
I feel like Diane got shorter through the seasons. Like she doesn't compare to Hawk Mama like she did in season 1, and I think that's a damn shame. Let my giant girl be giant !!
She's also a decent bit more violent and I enjoy that thoroughly. She's just a silly goofy kween😌
Also her original costume is superior, her boots are just👌
Just realized that Meliodas was like an older brother/mentor to Gil and now they're brothers in law 😭😭
Also young Elizabeth and Gil are so cute😭 I always forget that they grew up together too

Okay SO in episode 5, when Ban is about to get his scar from the dragon handle sword, he tells Meliodas "you and me have been hanging together for a lot of years now." This scene takes place 12 years before present (bp). Does this mean Ban and Meliodas were friends before the formation of the Sins? Or was Ban the first after him and Merlin? Ban has been immortal 20 years BP, leaving 8 years in between present and the flashback. 8 years before this scene, Meliodas was still in Danafal/Danfor and would be for another 4 years. What does any of this mean? Idk, just thot it was intriguing lol.
Also how did I not notice this is the first time we see demon!Meliodas !! Baby's first sighting as an unnatural creature with otherworldly rage🥰🥰
Also the fact we never see the scar Gil gave him again lol. Plus him presumably needing to do demon mode so hellfire can heal him is actually rlly cool
Just thought about how Elizabeth laying her hand on his chest to check the scar was the first time in years his love touches him with gentleness or concern🥲🥲
The fact that it took me 6 years to realize that when Meliodas says he'll keep the promise he made to Elizabeth, even if she should die is referencing the promise he made to her originally to break their curses🥲😬😤😭😭😭😭

Oh! The mustache thing and David. Okay, okay. It still feels kinda weird to say someone is racist over this, but yeah, now that you point it out I see it. I had a childhood friend who got in a foreign exchange student program for a year in high school and when she came back she told us how since the gringos couldnt say her name properly they just defaulted to calling her "Brazil" 😑
I feel a bit called out about twitter, even if its true and I'm only there cuz I'm an addict being held hostage. I've also curated my fandom experience, but I was really needing more info and saw stuff that bummed me out while researching 🥲🥲 I dont mind seeing people criticize characters cuz like we are all entitled to our opinion even if I disagree, but I guess it kinda shocked me still. I guess I forgot about how in some ship wars I participated in when I was 13 some people would call the other characters rapists and stuff after being away from typical fandom toxicity for so long lol.
About the tone shift: yeah I did, but it didnt feel "drastic", just different. In a bad way. Like one of the first metas I read talked about how Devi lacked autonomy in season two and I was like YES THAT WAS WHAT I WAS THINKING even thought not really I was just "wait why is this feeling a bit off... weird... let me play the next episode and just hope is merely a vibe" I dont hate season 2 as much as you seem to, however season 1 and 3 are indeed superior. Season 3 is my favorite out of the three because I really like how the characters matured. A favorite episode is probably 1x10, like the scene of Nalini with dr. Ryan moves me, then Ben driving cackles me up, then I back to being moved by them spreading Mohan ashes with beautiful day playing, then boys like you as "you stayed" and benvi kiss and paxton calling and back to the kiss and I'm like OMG WHAT IS SHE GOING TO DO I HAVE CLASS TOMORROW AND ITS ALMOST TWO BUT FUCK I NEED TO KEEP WATCHING THIS. I always feel like that when I'm rewatching even if it's not two am and I dont have class the next day lmao

The awkwardness of the situation?? Their great characterization??? Devi having no idea of what to do with Ben of all people making her feel like that??? I love to read adults au for shows about hs characters and hs aus for shows about adult characters idk why but there are not enough adult aus for nhie in my opinion and yours is my fave!!! Plus Ben being so into stories is adorable as someone who really sees herself in Abed Nadir. Plus the way is not just about their romance but also Devi dealing with grief and her complicated relationship with her mother and self destructive tendencies and... ugh I just love it.
It still feels kinda weird to say someone is racist over this, but yeah, now that you point it out I see it. - i think the disconnect comes from the way fandom uses words like 'racist' to build cases about how it's Objectively Wrong for anyone to like a certain character, whereas the word itself applies to a whole spectrum of behavior and morality. like, it shouldn't actually be that uncomfortable to admit that ben can be and is sometimes racist, he is a walking definition of privilege. him internalizing racist sentiment should hardly be surprising. but it also doesn't make him irredeemable scum. he's obviously a really caring character, as well.
on a related note, yikes @ those students who committed micro-aggressions to your childhood friend. as they get further and further into their life, may they reflect and do better rather than double-down.

It's so interesting seeing my liveblogs of watching SL for the first time and then comparing them to the ones I did in my 1 year anniversary rewatch.
Especially in season 2. Cause in season 2 the first time, I focused a lot more on the Sol Benson plot especially Ámbar's part, Jim and Yam being lesbians, and the fact that "holy shit I'm actually getting hooked on this show for REAL" feeling.
In my 1 year rewatch, I still focused a lot on the Sol Benson plot and Jim and Yam being lesbians, but there was definitely a lot more focus on Lumon too than what it was the first time around.
I think it had to do with the fact that, when watching S2 for the first time, I had no idea about what would await me in S3, so I had settled that Lumon would only be friends from here on out. So I was like "yeah, it was nice with their short romance in s1, but I really love their friendship <3 And I'm happy they'll always be such close friends <3"
But in my rewatch I knew exactly what would come next, so that's when I just started speculating how things could've been. What if-scenarios. What would have changed, could this have worked? What would happen to Ámbar? Matteo? And there was some conflicting feelings cause in the end I knew nothing could compare to Simbar, they're just superior and more mature so I get it, but just for Luna specifically she deserved someone better, and Simón was the only solid choice of all the love interests.
Then by S3 I got the realization that OH MAYBE LUNA SHOULD JUST BE SINGLE. Or get a gf
Anyway still happy Lumon always will be such tight besties and be close, their friendship will always be my fave, but I also wish S3 didn't have to spit in my face, I could have been very fine with them just being an only-s1 thing, I had MOVED ON and you decided to just shove them in my face again so now I have these fucking unresolved feelings I can never get closure on

also bella crawford they really made me cry w that shit (also another epic female character gone far too soon)
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
im gonna go two for one and say the crime scene investigators theyre not normal like anyone on that fbi team but theyre so funny about this could be hannibal and will if they were mentally stable

I’ve been snowed in since Monday, so I’ve finally been able to catch up on some much needed rest and sleep, and have some energy for hobby-stuff!
I have also made it to season 6 of Winx, here are some thoughts so far:
Man, I miss the cartoons of yesteryear T_T The art style and banter of the first couple of seasons is so nostalgic.
Canon officially stops at the end of Season 3 :)
Faves thus far: Valtor and Riven. Stella is fave fairy in the earlier seasons (I actually don’t really like any of the girls past Season 3, they’re just caricatures of themselves), and Brandon is pretty solid too.
Seasons 4 and 5 are the definition of “great concept, exceedingly poor execution,” which is a shame.
Who. THE FUCK. greenlit that god-awful artistic direction in Season 5?!?? Y’all know the one. I’m not even saying this because I’m not fond of 3D in general; it’s so immersion breaking and literally makes no sense at all, what with having to animate the same transformation sequence two different ways?? Why waste budget like that??? And for something that looks terrible. Tbh, the worst animation decision I have seen, and that includes whatever the fuck TDP was. The culprit should be banned from ever working on anything animated again.
Ugh two of my most hated character types make an appearance. The Dumbledore/Hiruzen/Eraqus/Gaius and The Alistair, as I like to call them for brevity’s sake XD
4Kids dub is far superior. I acknowledge that it changed a lot of content especially in the first two seasons, which sucks because I do prefer a lot of the original dialogue, but like... they actually sound like people and not like the same person voiced everyone, equally unenthusiastically XD Listening to either of the other English dubs is painful.
The 4Kids dub also has the best music, both the songs and the soundtrack. Villain themes are 100% okay, Valtor’s theme is 100%, I don’t actually remember if the Trix and Darkar had specific tracks, but that’s who matters so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ lmao
Valtor has absolutely been added to the cosplans list.
The animation just gets worse and worse the further past Season 3 you get. Like, I get that the style changed and they bumped down the viewership age-range and all that, but the characters all lose their distinct physical characteristics and become more uniform, which is just... boo. Loss of sharp angles and the like.
... part of me is extremely glad that I didn’t get around to watching this as a child, because even at the age of thirty-three, most of the parental figures in this series trigger me. Special shout out to Mike and Vanessa for being rock stars.
I cry at the utterly wasted potential of multiple points in Season 3. What a perfect set up for Bloom to gain her power-up and add a whole bunch of complexity to the plot (because, let’s be real, the moment Valtor stepped onto the screen in S3E1, the series took on a whole new tone)... that we just sailed by because... deus ex machina prehistoric dragon island??? That goes against all magic conventions that were literally just established in-universe because... idk, protag privilege?? Cowards. And the end of the season offered the perfect lead-in to the subsequent movie; and girls would have had a very handy magical encyclopedia around to consult thereafter; and imagine the sass between the main group and the begrudgingly helpful, formerly villainous not-really-an-enemy-anymore wizard? *Sigh* WASTED.
I have lots of thoughts about the later season fashion choices of multiple characters but. Oritel. Bro. My dude. What are you wearing.

Merlin and Naruto
I did Merlin here, so here’s Naruto! :D
[disclaimer for everyone: I have only watched up through Season 10 of Shippuden (the arc with the Five Kage Summit), and I am trying to avoid spoilers for everything after that point, so please don’t interact with this (including tags, because tumblr shows them to me automatically) unless you are avoiding ALL spoilers. For me, this includes discussion about whether you like/dislike future seasons, comparisons of various seasons in terms of quality, etc. Thanks, everyone! <3]
My favorite parent-child relationship: I know they’re not blood-related, but Iruka and Naruto have me crying every time I see them together. Naruto straight-up says that when he’s with Iruka he feels like he knows what it’s like to have a father, and honestly, Iruka loves Naruto so much at this point that he would insta-adopt him if Naruto asked. I love how Naruto always cites Iruka as the first person who cared for him even later in the show when Iruka hasn’t had as much screentime, and when I saw Iruka cry because he’s so proud of Naruto at the end of the Pain arc, it was just...too much for my little heart to handle.
My favorite sibling relationship: You know, thinking about it, almost all of the people in Naruto are only children, as far as we know! But in terms of just that sibling vibe - Sakura and Naruto definitely give me that feel. I know he has a crush on her, but their relationship has always felt more sibling-like to me, and I especially love how deep their bond has become by the time we get to Shippuden. They are just so comfortable with each other now - the depth of the love and friendship they feel for each other is palpable.
My favorite family relationship (other): I adore Naruto’s relationship with Jiraiya. That scene where Naruto falls asleep against his back almost killed me, and Jiraiya’s later line, “Your smile is my salvation” - that was too much. It absolutely destroyed me. The way Jiraiya kind of gave up on everything after his old life went to hell - neverending wars, Orochimaru gone, his original students dead, his student’s students dead, Minato dead - he just ran away after that, and it was meeting Naruto that kind of rekindled that spark of hope in him and helped him reconnect with his community and rediscover a sense of purpose in his life. Naruto enabled him to finally come home, and I think that’s beautiful.
My favorite friendship between two people: There are so many friendships in Naruto that I love (one of the greatest things about this show for me has been how little focus is given to romantic relationships, at least so far; it’s very much a friendship-oriented show), but right now I’m in a bit of a Kakashi-Yamato hole. I was super primed to not like Yamato when he first showed up, because him being there meant that my favorite character WASN’T there, and also he ended up replacing Kakashi on the one mission where the team finally found Sasuke, but the guy won me over in the end. He is one of my favorite characters now - my heart just swells every time I see him - and I think his relationship with Kakashi is super interesting.
I’ve written before about how Kakashi’s only truly intimate friendships are with people who are dead, and I do think that applies when it comes to Yamato, too, even though the two of them are obviously very companionable and close. There is still a level to that relationship where Kakashi is a bit of a mentor figure, the “superior officer,” which results in a degree of (still friendly and affectionate) distance. And as with all of his other relationships, Kakashi doesn’t really confide in Yamato about his life or open up to him in the same way that he does when he talks to his dead friends - but at the same time, there is an element to their relationship that doesn’t exist in Kakashi’s other friendships, and it’s the fact that Kakashi trusts Yamato with his kids, implicitly and without reservation. Kakashi’s entire life right now is very much enmeshed in what happens to his students, and even if he doesn’t necessarily talk about that with Yamato, Yamato is still deeply involved in that work. Yamato VOLUNTEERED for that work. And he continues to dedicate himself to it even when his first mission as Kakashi’s stand-in ends up going completely off the rails and turning into WAY more than he signed up for. He keeps doing his utmost for Kakashi’s kids without it even being his original responsibility, and that is such an unusual thing, for Kakashi, who in every other circumstance is always the one stepping in to help other people, the one who always shoulders his burdens alone. Nobody ever asks Kakashi if he needs help with these incredibly high-needs children, and neither does Yamato - but the difference is that Yamato jumps in to help regardless, and he stays no matter how complicated things get. That’s huge, and it’s only going to become more important. It’s just - it is difficult for Kakashi to have intimate friendships with people who don’t share his history, and this rules out almost everybody else in the world, because all the people who truly share his own history are dead. But the degree to which Yamato has altruistically and irreversibly entwined himself into the most important parts of Kakashi’s new history - the chapters being written right now, the ones that are going to define the rest of Kakashi’s life - means that Yamato is well on his way to breaking through that wall and becoming the first exception to a universal rule.
[There is a lot to be said on Kakashi’s side of this, too, like - every time Kakashi refuses to call Yamato by his code name I lose my mind just a little bit, and I have MANY thoughts about Kakashi basically dragging folks who’ve been victimized or exploited or experimented on out of ANBU and then absorbing them into his own team, where they become a part of a family-type unit that respects them and cares about them and treats them like human beings. I mean, there’s a huge difference between the Yamato we meet in S2 vs. the Yamato we know in S10 (and the same thing goes for Sai!) - and that’s something I think about a lot.]
My favorite friendship between a group: I love all of the team dynamics, but Team Gai is a fave XD The absurd contrast between oh-so-serious Neji vs. Gai/Lee’s incredible goofiness (with Tenten’s exasperation in between) is comedy gold. I screamed with laughter in S1 when Gai was trying to get Neji to put his hand in the circle and do their “shout a slogan like a sports team” thing - I’ve never seen anything funnier on this show than jonin!Neji trying to put up with Gai’s antics.
My favorite mentorship: My favorite mentorship is always Kakashi and whichever kid happens be onscreen with him at that moment, but I’ll be honest and say that Kakashi+Sasuke was the first dynamic that got me actually invested in this show (as opposed to me just watching it because it was on and not really caring what happened to any of the characters). They are still the mentorship dynamic about which I have the most complex feelings, and that is especially true after the last season we watched. I will probably end up making a separate post about this, because I still have not written down all of my thoughts about the end of Season 10 and I am still trapped in my feelings about this very lost child and the only adult who ever tried to help him the way he deserved to be helped, and I know I have way more to say about them than I can reasonably fit in this bullet point. But - the short version is that I am super compelled by the way that every tragedy that’s befallen Kakashi is precisely what shapes him into the only adult who can help this particular kid, the way seemingly senseless events ended up putting Kakashi in a position where he’s the only adult who can intervene on this kid’s behalf many, many years later. The way Sasuke’s plight (and the potential that Kakashi has to help him) suddenly grants meaning to the worst parts of Kakashi’s life - that knocks me on my butt.
My favorite rivalry: So I probably would not have said this until the episode where Kakashi comes three seconds away from being made Hokage, but I’m gonna say Gai & Kakashi, solely to express my love and appreciation for Gai in that episode. This is the ep where Gai challenges Kakashi to a race through the entire village (as a sort of “last hurrah before we can’t do this kind of silly shit anymore” thing) and Kakashi is initially kind of reluctant to do it, because he’s stressed out about a lot of things, but he does end up agreeing to it, and then he has SO much fun, and I LOVED this so much; I can’t even tell you. This moment takes place immediately after Kakashi returns from that horrible, awful confrontation with Sasuke, and everything preceding this scene was very hard for me to see, because everybody is just asking Kakashi to do more and more and more for them without giving him even a hot minute to be like “i almost just killed my own kid. i almost just had to kill my own kid, who was trying to kill my other kid, who was trying to kill kid #1 first, so i wouldn’t have assume the burden of killing him myself.” Nobody checks on him, nobody asks, and Kakashi has to just hold onto that horror and also fret over the uncertain yet chilling secrets that Madara Uchiha disclosed and also prepare to shoulder the crushing weight of an office he never asked for - AND THEN. GAI SHOWS UP. And even though Gai doesn’t really know what happened, he still checks Kakashi over from top to bottom to make sure he’s in one piece, and then he drags him into this stupid competition, and it makes Kakashi LAUGH. They go running all out across the craterized scene of devastation that used to be their home, and they have FUN doing it, and Kakashi straight-up tells Gai, “This was just what I needed,” which - god. It would be great if Kakashi had somebody he could actually talk to, sure, but there’s also a space in our lives for people who just cheer us up, no questions asked. It’s like when you tell someone you have a problem and they ask, “Do you want to talk about it or do you want to be distracted?” Sometimes you don’t need to talk about it. Sometimes you just need people who will take you for a goofy footrace and make you feel like you’re running too fast for any of your troubles to ever touch you again, for a few minutes.
My favorite hatred/antipathy: The answer to this question used to be Kakashi and Itachi, and while I’m even MORE fascinated by their dynamic now than ever, it’s taken on a whole new dimension, given that I think Itachi is (secretly) thrilled to see someone like Kakashi so committed to taking him down and keeping Sasuke safe. So, in place of that, I’ll just say that I love how much all of the Akatsuki cannot stand each other XD Almost none of them get along, and it makes me laugh every time - I can’t believe they ever get anything done, though I guess that’s to be expected when you get that many super-criminals together in a room. I especially love how they all think Orochimaru is so stupid...cannot get over them laughing at him and his body-snatching immortality schemes.
My favorite potential relationship between characters who never talk in canon: Okay, these are both silly answers, but - I would have KILLED to see Jiraiya interacting with Minato’s team. Like, I’m certain they spent time together, but honestly, what I wouldn’t give to have witnessed some of it. All I could think about during that mini-arc where Jiraiya teaches Naruto how to sync up with Gamariki was how little!Kakashi would have taken one look at the dancing frogs and decided he would be using dog!summons for the rest of his life; meanwhile Obito would have already been in the frog’s mouth begging to be launched into the air like a cannonball.
Also - my sister said the other night how it is a CRIME that we never got to see Sasuke forced to interact with Jiraiya and honestly, that is too true.

Hi there!~ I’m definitely excited to talk about the donghua!!!
Okay so to start off, some of my fave scenes are:
1) THE FOREST WEDDING SCENE -- to no one’s surprise!
2) THE SINNER’S PIT CATCH -- also to no one’s surprise
3) The Banyue-General Hua-Pei Su flashbacks -- i.e. the part where XL gets killed and Banyue is left to mourn, and later where PS sees her strung up in the sinner’s pit ;u;
4) Puqi Shrine Domestic Housework -- to be fair thats like the whole episode but hey!
5) The communication array scene with XianLe Trio -- this one tugged at my heartstrings aaahh
These are just the first 5 that really came to mind, but I’m sure I’ll remember a lot more as soon as I publish this ask lol!
Overall, I have to say I’m really pleased with the donghua -- especially in terms of pacing and how they used the medium to its fullest effect. For the pacing, I predicted back in October it would end exactly at the “what would you like for dinner, Hua Cheng?” scene if they paced it well, and it DID, so I was pleasantly surprised lol. I didn’t feel like any parts were rushed, though interestingly I did feel some parts were a little slow. E.g. if they cut that random mini-subplot with Pei Su’s (Pei Xiu?!) jealous superior out, maybe they could have had Hualian return to Puqi Shrine for the actual zinger. (Though also animating Puqi Shrine and everything in it is a lot more work than a blank Desert bg lol so I get it.) I mainly wonder if they added that whole bit because of censorship reasons, to show that PS wasn’t as cold and calculating as he is in the novel--but rather that he was desperate and pushed to his limits. Moral greyness is often not looked upon favorably, with there having to be a clear hero/villain divide. It’s also probably why HC’s backstory was revealed in ep1 itself--to show that he is in love with XL, to soften his snark and Ghost King persona ahead of time.
As for how they used the animation medium, I think things like how they did the Banyue-XL-PS flashback was really well done. There wasn’t very much dialogue especially for the one where XL was “killed,” but the tone and significance were very clearly communicated to the audience. Same for when PS saw BY strung up in the sinner’s pit. You could see the anguish on his face, and understand why he might’ve done bad things in order to save her. There was still very little dialogue or exposition there, but there didn’t need to be.
Naturally I’m aware of the issues/controversies that have plagued the donghua and I really don’t wanna get too into them all over again lol! But I just hope that that’s the last of it, and we have an easy breezy season 2 and onwards! There also some animation errors and quirks here and there, but that’s kinda to be expected with like every animation, so I’m not holding it against them. I’ve watched a lot of currently-airing anime with goofs too, and they all get fixed eventually. Haoliners even went back to fix things already like the color of HongJin and such, so that’s good to see! Other than that, I hope the animation studio has ample time and resources given the commercial success of the first season, so they can make season 2 really good!
I also ADORED all the music, to bits. I think “红绝” (Hóng Jué; Red Supreme) was my favorite. I love the melody so much, and many have said it’s Hua Cheng’s character song, so it fits very well in my opinion. Of course my next favorite is “ 一花一劍” (Yī Huā Yī Jiàn; One Flower One Sword), which is Xie Lian’s. They’re both SO spot on. I think the reason Red Supreme is my favorite is simply because I really like that Lift (idk the exact term) that happens around 0:45 (ED ver)/1:10 (Full ver) and in a few other verses. I’m weird about small things like that in music, because it can take a song from 10 to an 11 for me in just a second lmfao! But otherwise, it’s actually very hard for me to choose because whoever the lyricists are for these songs absolutely know what they’re doing. The fact that every single song for the donghua is a love ballad is perfect. :^)
Also worth mentioning, I REALLY love the manhua song for Hualian! It’s a duet and it’s so lovely~

the first character i ever fell in love with: the first mcu movie i ever saw was the avengers when it first released, and i’ve loved tony stark ever since!
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: hmmm i guess bruce? not that i Hate him or anything but the only movies where i actually liked him were the avengers and ragnarok, other than that i had no particular feelings about him. his character really changes very drastically from movie to movie and since he doesn’t get a solo movie, i don’t think they know what they want to do with bruce as a character.
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: steve x peggy i guess? not that i ever shipped them hardcore but after the first cap movie i kinda lost interest in them. steve’s arc in endgame really made me dislike the pairing honestly.

Favorites: Talia 😍😍🥰😍 and Jake 😘🥰😍
I genuinely don't understand anyone picking other LIs. Talia is god tier, one of my favorite LIs from any visual novel. She’s so hot, really interesting, and open/kind/loving/pretty/sincere.... I love her. I do wish I knew more about her though because I chose her every opportunity but never really learned a whole lot of personal details. Jake is such a kind soul and we stan a handsome, respectful gentleman. I've always liked quiet boys and mad into loud smart girls so... yeah..... The only other valid LI choice is Tim, and he's my platonic bestie so.
Least favorite: Levi 🤢🤮😡😤🤢🤢
Levi? Stupid idiot motherfucking Levi? Goddamn fool jock stupid cheating ass rat bastard shithead idiot Levi? Fuck OFF. I don’t really like Mason that much but haven’t done a run through where Mason is as terrible as Levi. I'm not even mad about Cherrygate I'm mad about how Levi treated MC after it. He never apologized, he never really showed MC that she could trust him, he never supported her. The nail in the coffin was the lie detector. We hate men who cant apologize or empathize.
I will say, they fixed Levi’s character in Matchmaker, so if we’re counting matchmaker then I guess my least favorite is Jasper.
Season 2
Favorites: Noah 🥰😚😏 Marisol 😅😏😍 Henrik 😇😍🤗 and Carl 🤩☺
I don’t even know how to explain why I love Noah. I love angst and slow burns, AND my comfort characters are always quiet smart lawful neutrals. He’s such a complex character and every action he does makes sense and ugh. I just really love him ok. He and my S2 MC are OTP.
I know people hate Marisol but she’s exactly my type irl. I love slowburns, and I love people who grow as characters because of the people they’re with. Marisol does this lovely thing when you couple up with her when she goes from flighty and insecure to fiercely loving and devoted. I think that works with her character. My big hangup with her is her pretentiousness- like girl I took up to psych 305 and I don’t go around trying to analyze people and act like I’m so smart. I think she’s really stuck in her ‘not like other girls’ phase, and feels superior because of her education, which I relate to a lot. That was me 2-3 years ago, and it was all fed by insecurity and isolation. But maybe that’s part of the appeal? I want so badly to fix her. Obviously it sucks that you have to support her during RoccoGate just to access her, but I love her nonetheless.
Henrik is a delight. He’s the perfect balance of sweet, independent, honest, and funny. He's a goof but unlike Bobby he's not trying too hard. I just wish he hadn't gotten kicked out of the villa every time until I realized the only factor deciding that is who MC says she wants to keep to the girls- but then again, him cheating with Blake is so out of character unless it’s explained why and his reaction is different.
And Carl is just my good quiet sweet boy, and his design is really pretty. I just wish he had a different pose because I hate his fuckboy hands and lip biting. But he’s really straightforward and supportive, and I headcanon him to be on the autism spectrum so he’s automatically one of my faves.
Least favorites: Arjun 😤😒🙄 Bobby 🥱🙄😬 Gary 🙈 and Rahim 😒😐😔
Arjun gets under my skin with how pushy he is. He doesn’t really bother to build a relationship with her but expects her to pick him. Also I hate how he and Elijah are the only mlm rep we've got but neither of them are unavailable or uninterested in MC. Ciaran and Tai kind of made up for it this season, but I still think Arjun sucks.
Bobby is super insecure and doesn’t respect MC's wishes to stay just friends. I also? Don’t think he’s that funny? Like I love a goofy boy, but so much of Bobby’s humor seems like all set up and no punchline- ha ha I made up a word? ha ha I put on a dress? ha ha I switched peoples clothes? Versus Henrik and Chelsea, who I think are genuinely funny, are able to poke fun at themselves and reference other things. But it’s mostly the Nice Guy (TM) vibes I get from Bobby that put me off of him.
Gary doesn’t support MC like I wish he would, he just lets people bully her and doesn’t apologize when he’s done hurtful things like kiss both her and Lottie. He’s a sweet character, but he gets away with a lot and never apologizes or recognizes that he’s hurt MC. That scene with Hannah always frustrates me because he acts like the victim. I get that people think he’s a sweetheart, and I like his backstory, but I just? Don’t see it? He refuses to take responsibility for his actions, allows his partner to be miserable without even asking what he can do, and storms off whenever there’s a confrontation.
And finally Rahim. I’m mad about this one because Rahim was my FAVORITE until like day 22, then Fusebox did him so dirty. Dont get me wrong, he's hot af and his little 'I'm shy around girls' shtick is cute, at first. But my first playthrough ever I coupled with him before the disaster recoupling and then went back to him the first chance I got. He is SO sweet before CA, but afterwards Fusebox really leaned into his ‘control freak’ personality. I liked the drama with Jo and Shannon when MC is involved, so I don’t hold that against him. I like how he learned to open up and developed as a character (his arch is less pronounced when he’s with Jo but oh well). What I hold against him is how he treats MC and the other characters post-CA. He's super condescending whenever MC says something goofy, always shaming her and giving frowns. He really uses the 'I'm geeky so girls don’t like me' bit even though??? He's super hot and rich, so why is that still his Thing. I get lowkey misogynistic vibes from him with his pickup lines and bragging about spending money on dates- like dating is a game and women are prizes rather than people. ALSO!!! IN THE WEDDING EPISODE!!! Every other LI I've played through the wedding episode with has also had a ring and proposed to MC at the same time. RAHIM DOESN’T DO THAT!??! Such a weird choice for the writers to make and idk. I just really resent Rahim as a character.
Season 3
Favorites: Lily🏳️🌈😍🥰 and Yasmin 😆😚🔥
Lily is LITERALLY Henrik but as a woman and I love that. I’m so gay. She’s really open, caring, passionate, and plus she’d really hot. Not as hot as Iona, but up there. Even when she’s fighting, she seems like a real person as opposed to the generic personalities everyone else has. We love a lesbian queen.
I was hesitant to try Yasmin at first because her eyeshadow is really ugly, but I’m so glad I finally did. All of her lines are SO romantic and she’s SO pretty and ugh. Again, very gay. I love the spontaneity and the idea of a manic pixie music girl.
I was into Tai for awhile (mostly because of that comment about MC’s voice) but he’s a bit too full of himself for me personally and also he and Ciaran are meant to be. They need to get married. Camilo’s also a really great character but he dresses like a 10 year old boy and also he’s a Man.
Least Favorites: Bill 🤷♀️🙄🤨 and Harry 🤢😤🙄😐🤮
Bill really isn’t that bad, I don’t mind his silly turns of phrase or his insistence on debating dumb things- because it’s mostly banter. What I do mind is him defending those phrases instead of laughing it off and thinking that hes somehow deep for not liking small talk. He comes across as a twitter poet. Also I think his pose is dumb. 4/10 he has some endearing moments but eh I'm not into him.
But Harry on the other hand......... I was going to pick Harry in the first coupling because he's super cute and his fashion sense (at least his swimwear- that yellow jacket is something else...) is way better than everyone else's but he ruined that when he opened his mouth. Business major is a red flag, but then his dumb little pick up line turned me off. And then every scene since I've hated him more and more. I work in legal services and want to go to law school in the future, so I like educated and successful people just fine. But I HATE when they act classist and like that makes them better than other people (if you cant tell by my distaste for Hannah, Marisol, and Lucas). Harry doesn’t care about real things, he cares about the status they bring him. It's not that he wants to open a business because he has a drive for a product or service or cause, it's because he wants to say hes a business owner. If your only goal for doing something is getting power I don’t have time for you. 0/10. EDIT: He gets one (1) point back for being open about his anger issues and actively seeking treatment, I don’t know many men in their 20s willing to admit that and seek help. Every time I replay I try to be like ‘give him a fair shot, he has a lot of stans’ and then he blows off MC to play video games and says he has no freetime because he’s networking all the time. *pointing at Harry* blow that piece of junk OUt oF the SKY.

Okay, observations after an incredibly chopped up and incomplete “rewatch” of Girl Meets World. AKA me rambling about a show that ended 4 years ago, wasn’t entirely meant for me, and nobody needed my opinion on:
1. I think the show had a lot of trouble tonally because it was intended to be geared towards children, yet they banked hard on the nostalgia factor. That meant people like me, who were in college or the adult world when it premiered and grew up LOVING Boy Meets World, were going to tune in. It would have been better to put it on Freeform (which I think was still ABC Family?) and be able to mature it up a bit. The age of the characters made sense for Disney Channel, but they constantly risked alienating a big part of their audience. I think they got better as it went on, but it still felt weird to have all these old references interspersed with very G plotlines.
2. Boy oh boy was it heavy handed. A lot of the sitcoms I watched growing up, Boy Meets World included, had “very special episodes.” Most weeks would have fun, dumb episodes usually with a fairly tame moral, but “very special episodes” would conquer sensitive topics, usually in an isolated format; the characters would meet someone new or go somewhere new and be faced with something bad. The cult episode of Boy Meets World comes to mind as a good example. Every episode of GMW I watched felt like a “very special episode.” They really pushed a big lesson each episode and drove it home, almost to the point of being unrealistic. Take, for example, the first day of high school thing with the seniors making them hang out in the hole. On a normal sitcom, that would have been a dumb prank by seniors with a faint lesson to know your worth or be independent or something like that. It would be played mainly for laughs. Instead, a lesson about growing up too fast or something was shoehorned in. It felt preachy.
3. I’m a shameless Riley/Lucas shipper. I understood the whole Maya/Lucas thing and I (sort of) get why people shipped it. But I loved the Riley and Lucas dynamic right away and thought they were just really sweet. Plus, I like Riley. I feel like that’s an unpopular opinion, but I think she’s sweet and silly and kind, if a little overzealous. And maybe some of it comes from Maya having two long-term love interests, one of which was also Riley’s; I wanted Riley to find love, sue me!
4. Charlie Gardner deserved better or more or something. I feel like at 14, if the guy you like is sort of dating your friend and you’ve stepped back, why not see where it goes with another guy who really likes you? That may be contradictory to my last point, but whatever. He was adorable and he really liked Riley! Sure, he came on a little strong, but he always seemed respectful. I wish they had explored him and his dynamic with the characters a bit more.
5. Farkle’s transformation was good because it broke him out of the horribly over the top nerd stereotype they had him as originally. I liked his storylines about self-expression and embracing differences, but he was just a bit too much at first, from a character perspective. He was sort of the opposite of Lucas in that Lucas was coded as a Prince Charming type. When you find out his past, it’s unexpected and adds depth. Farkle is immediately coded as an unrealistic nerd so nothing about his arc is ever that surprising.
6. I’m a straight up ho for strong friend groups, so that was always always always my favorite part. I liked the original 4 and I loved the addition of Zay in Season 2 and Smackle in Season 3. I love shifting dynamics and unexpected combinations (we only really got any Zay and Smackle or Lucas and Smackle interactions in the second to last episode and I’m hurt) and having a strong support system.
7. Nostalgia was the driving force to get me to watch and a big reason I continued to watch. The OG Boy Meets World characters will always be superior, at least in my eyes. Also, I full-on bawled when I watched Girl Meets Home for the Holidays for the first time and I have not one ounce of shame.
All in all, I liked the show and I liked my “rewatch.” It certainly had its faults, but it was fun and goofy and sweet. I cried a lot when watching, and loved seeing where all my faves ended up.
No one cares or wanted this, but it’s my blog so I get to do what I want! Also, like, if you have different opinions, that’s cool. I’m down to discuss but not really debate.

And around 6:43, he talks about the classic Mary Sue trope and how, if you have a male character in a work of fiction who is presented as equally perfect and free of flaw (in other words, a Gary Stu), the criticism is less harsh towards him, or in some cases, nearly nonexistent. Some might even say he's a total bad-ass and how dare you find fault in someone so impossibly cool? But if they're female? Good god, it's bad writing and anti-feminist. People seem to be generally way more accepting of male archetypes who fall under this trope than the likes of their female counterparts, hence double standards. You see this all the time in action flicks for instance. Arnold Schwarzenegger films, anyone? James Bond whomst??? But suddenly you have Rey who's arguably not better or worse than the likes of those characters, and yet, the general opinion of her is... kind of unfair. Understandable, nonetheless... I'm not a fan of her either but at the same time, I don't think we should judge her harsher than male characters who have similar treatments. Male characters like that shouldn't be excused. I'm not saying Stus are NEVER pointed out or criticized, but this guy does have a point. There seems to be a much more airtight scrutiny surrounding female characters of this nature and it might be due to internalized misogyny or ''something something quantum quantum...'' Granted, I don't think Stus/Sues should be a widely accepted overused theme regardless, and that should be blamed on poor writing rather than sexism. Whether male, female, both, neither and everything in-between, characters need to be well-written, well-developed, believable and nuanced and blah blah blah. I'm not really here to talk about that. What I want to point out is double standards. And yes, this is sexism.
Take Rick and Morty for example. I'm not going to get too deep into it, but the fandom seems to praise the shit out of Rick who can easily be labelled a Stu because as we're constantly reminded, he's supposedly the ''smartest man in the universe''. Now, when you create a character who is a self-professed genius and placed on a pedestal by the writers, it can definitely come off Stu-ish. It's not that Rick unrealistically lacks flaws... no, this man is LOADED with flaws, but the fact that he's a literal badass who can get out of almost any sticky situation... well, like I said, there's more to his character than that and I'm not going to get into it, but Rick rarely, if ever, fails. Sometimes there's moments of vulnerability and the fact that he keeps trying to change but just slips back into his old ways, that makes him much more 3-dimensional than a Stu... but you know, despite his narcissism, his sarcasm, his alcoholism and mistreatment of his family and his incapability of maintaining healthy long-term relationships, he still has a limitless ability to create, a superior intelligence level even when compared to higher lifeforms on other planets, enabling him to outsmart entire government organizations and civilizations spanning galaxies, well... you can see where I'm going with this. There's no person on this planet like that who exists irl, even among the smartest of history's greatest men. Yes, it's a cartoon, it's meant to be far-fetched. Yes, it's sci-fi so we're expected to suspend our disbelief. Yes, there's a reason for it. Yes, it drives the core of the story. But even if there's times where it seems Rick will definitely fail, he never truly has an ALL IS LOST MOMENT because the writers conveniently write him out of most of his troubles, because the series has to keep going (obviously). Basically, I never feel a real sense of danger when Rick is in trouble because I know he'll get out alive (if not, there's infinite amount of Ricks and infinite amount of realities to replace him-- not to mention he can replace his family members as many times as he fucks up which became the show's laziest overused point in my opinion). Rick's not a bad character. Far from it. That's not what bothers me.
What bothers me is his daughter, Beth. Okay, no, she doesn't specifically bother me. The way the fandom sees her bothers me. Now Beth is undoubtedly cut from the same cloth. You know what they say, like father like daughter. And yet... the fandom fails to recognize her as a potentially great character, just as equally flawed and brilliant minded as Rick. She's a genius horse surgeon in a failing marriage. (I will go out on a limb and say she's more well written than Rick *ducks from flying tomatoes*.) I mean, her story is literally almost the same as her father's, her flaws are just as realistic--in fact, she's probably more realistic because she's not the ''smartest so and so of the godforsaken universe'' which is just as bad as annoyingly cringey The Chosen One trope. She's just Beth. A terribly smart woman with abandonment issues and trust issues and all other kinds of issues, but you can't blame her given her upbringing. By no means perfect or good at everything she does. Or loved (or hated) by everyone or hailed a genius by the entire flipping universe. You can't even call her a Sue. Yet some of the fandom chooses to label her a b*tch for whatever reason... even though her characterization is near identical to D*ck, er I mean Rick (e.g. she drinks just as much when she hits an all time low). She's just as awful with just as many fuck ups yet she's more sympathetic due to the way Rick raised her (or didn't raise her)... yet there's a double standard because somehow, because she's a female, she's a worse character than Rick, who's a male and apparently awesome (brownie points because he's one of the the two titular characters so you *can't* hate him, it's against the law). If Beth were Rick's son instead of his daughter, I wonder if the general opinion would be the same or not. If Rick were a woman.... he would be Rey, now would he? Don't deny it.
Then there's Ed Edd n' Eddy. As much as I love praising the hell out of this show, I also like to crap on it. There's no shame in pointing out flaws in your faves. But this isn't so much the flaw in the actual show and the actual writing, but again, I'm taking a jab at the fandom and how they perceive male characters v. female characters.
Sarah. Sarah is almost exactly like the female Eddy. She's little and bratty and loud af. She's probably the most hated character on the show (even Jimmy and Kevin are more liked than she is). I used to not like Sarah either but I never really asked myself WHY. When I compared her to Eddy, I realized that they're literally, almost the same character and I have no real reason to hate her (yeah yeah a lot of the cul-de-sac kids share eerily similar traits to the Eds and it was no accident; it makes you wonder why the kids hate the Eds so much if they ostracize them for the very same quirks they have, and it's not just the scams--it's because kids at this age are terribly insecure about themselves and tend to make fun of more vulnerable others who share their flaws to make themselves feel better. I was bullied in middle school for acne by... wait for it.... kids who had acne. GASP. Imagine that. So my point is, we often despise traits in others we despise in ourselves, not to mention we don't perceive ourselves the way others perceive us, hence, the Looking Glass Self theory. Basically, EEnE is deeper than it appears on the surface, and I've analyzed this before during those EEnE Appreciation Month things, so I won't bother repeating myself, but that's the basic idea in a nutshell.)
Ahem, before I get off on a further tangent, let me reiterate my main point. Sarah IS Eddy. No, not really, but yes, kinda really. Her voice can be irritating and grates on your nerves at times, she's bossy and controlling of her friends (I honestly love her friendship with Jimmy, and how they both defy stereotypical gender norms, and how protective she is of him, but there's times where she pushes his buttons), and though she doesn't hold Jimmy back from finding his own independence apart from her the way Eddy sometimes does to Ed and Edd who he treats them more as cronies in the first season (for instance, Sarah doesn't raise objection to Jimmy joining the Urban Rangers and finding his own identity and making other friends besides her, I mean they don't have to be glued to the hip and she damn well knows that), and yet... the way she treats Ed... well... even if Eddy stands up for Ed against Sarah and grows increasingly annoyed with the way she walks all over him... Eddy ain't much better, pumpkins. DON'T ACT LIKE HE'S BETTER THAN HER. Sure, male characters *always* get excused for this kind of behavior, but if it's a girl, she's automatically a mega beyotch with no redeeming qualities. If she's a b, he's a b, and they both have potential to redeem their flaws. They should be treated equally.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Eddy. He's one of my favorite characters. OPE. And there's the tea.
Most people LOVE Eddy (not everybody, and if you don't, that's fine; you don't even have to like Sarah, but I have a case). Despite the fact that he's bossy, sarcastic, rude, selfish, self-absorbed, over confident, flamboyant, vain, screams with a voice that makes your ears bleed.... well, gee, didn't I just describe Sarah? Sarah loves make-up clothes and hair just as much as Eddy loves speedos and deodorant and cheap shampoo and dressing to the nines for Jonny's Arbor Day Party. Hell, Sarah had a complete meltdown because she lost her freakin' earring! Eddy flipped the fuck out when Ed lost his porno mags. THEY'RE. THE. SAME. FUCKING. PERSON. (and it's why they butt heads but that's a topic for another day, because you know, you can't fight fire with fire... you can argue the same for Eddy and Kevin)
Yet, the fandom HATES Sarah and LOVES Eddy. Probably not cuz she's female, but aside from the Kankers, the girls (and Jimmy, poor Jimmy) seem to receive harsher judgment towards them as characters by fans, even if they have similar traits to the boys. I'm sure it's because Sarah isn't as well written or developed a character as Eddy (who's a main cast member, actually the driving force of the show, the primary lead) BUT that's not to say Sarah doesn't have her moments of vulnerability or moments of total bad-assery that makes her.... well... interesting if given the chance. (In BPS, she beats the living shit out of the Kankers and devises a plan for her and Jimmy to escape their enslavement, one of my all-time favorite scenes in the entire movie; not to mention she beats the crap out of EVERYONE on the show and it's usually, not always, well-deserved but it's entertaining nonetheless: cat fights with Nazz, even beating up Rolf who's twice her size, etc.). The fact that everyone is afraid of this little girl??? (maybe except Kevin). I mean, this chick is fearless, and yet, she still has moments of weakness. That's 3-dimensional if you ask me. She's more than just the bratty little sister. I didn't used to like her, but after studying her more, I've come to appreciate her. There's nothing about her that makes her an inherently ''bad'' female character. She plays a role, as do they all, and she plays the role perfectly.
Last but not least: Nazz. Everyone's favorite (I'm kidding). I don't know if the fandom hates Sarah or Nazz more. I can understand the hate towards Sarah, but Nazz seems even less just. Nazz is like one of the nicest people on the show and never really does anything to warrant the hate (until the infamous flanderized Season 5-- don't judge me, I love S5 regardless)... but even then she's still nice, if a bit artificially so. I mean, she becomes a bit of a Mean Girl (they all kinda do; it must be how the clique school environment changes a person), but she still goes out of her way to be inclusive towards everyone (even if she can be spotted in the background laughing at the Eds along with the others at times, but they're ALL guilty of this... ya'll out here lovin' on Rolf or Jonny or whatever, and pretending like they're saints, but they laugh at our precious Ed boys too. Also, precious Ed boys are not complete angels either and sometimes they need a good ass whooping or two. I mean, they're just kids. Kids are assholes). She's not a bad person though; she roots for all the contestants during the Spelling Bee. She personally appoints Ed to be the mascot of the football team. I can go on and on. She's just nice. Maybe that's why fans hate her. Because nice is boring. Nice is... personality-less. I don't think Nazz has as much eccentricity as the other characters, obviously, but she, too, has her moments (she yodels, for starters). She's not entirely lacking in personality. Sure, she may have as much personality as a board of wood (actually, I take that back, Plank has MORE personality than her XD) buuuut.... Idk, I like Nazz. I didn't at first either. But even if it irks me a bit that she's reduced down to the unattainable love interest and not much else, she, too, isn't an inherently ''bad'' female character. She has the least development of all the cast members, but she fills her role effectively. Without her, the show would feel like it's missing something. Even if she doesn't appear as often.
What bothers me the most is that she plays the same part as Kevin, only female. Kevin's the quintessential jock/bully popular leader of the kids, the King of the Cul-de-sac if you will (self-appointed or otherwise, just don't tell Eddy I told you). Nazz is like his Homecoming Queen, even if they're not an official couple (they spend the whole series as a ''will they or won't they Ross and Rachel'') and though not the leader of the kids collectively, she does sometimes lead the girls (or really, Sarah and Jimmy), while Kevin leads the boys (Jonny and Rolf, excluding the Eds). AND YET Kevin, though sometimes hated by fans, isn't nearly *as* hated as Nazz. Yet, he has as much personality as her (sorry, I love you, Kev). I mean, THEY'RE. ALMOST. THE. SAME. CHARACTER. Good looking, sporty, popular... He's also the least developed character of the male cast. Plank has more development than him and that's kinda sad... y'know... getting beat by a board of wood. (But Plank comes alive through Jonny, so basically Jonny is split into two separate characters; Plank reveals aspects of Jonny that he won't reveal to us, and vice versa. I can talk about Jonny all day, but let's not, because this is about Nazz.) I mean, again, Nazz and Kevin both have their moments of vulnerability and it's not like they're NEVER interesting; I beg to differ. Kevin, anyway, has two great episodes that revolve directly around his insecurities and anxieties and deep-seated fears, some deep shit I wish we got to see with Nazz. But instead we got BPS and it was hands-down the best character development we ever saw from her in the entire show's run. It's sad it had to be the end, because if they gave us more BPS Nazz throughout the series, she would have been a well rounded 3-d character.
Nazz is angry AF in BPS and I live for angry Nazz. We can kind of feel for her here because Kevin is such a dunce. She's finally reciprocating his feelings and he decides to turn the other way.... for his goddamn inanimate bike. It's something Jonny would do, but Kev always loved that bike... I guess more than Nazz, and it's one of the greatest love triangles ever. Phantom of the Opera don't interact. Ahem. My point is, Nazz finally displays more personality here-- like actual fucking emotion beyond just being nice and pretty (sure, we've seen her get angry sometimes, or freaked out other times, but never like this). Buuuuuut the fandom sees otherwise. They hated Nazz even MORE after this, despite that.... the male characters in BPS, like Rolf who punches through a tree and Edd and Eddy who go at it all piss and vinegar in an actual fist fight, are angry fucking men, and they're allowed to be angry and not Nazz because...? They have more testosterone and she doesn't? Because penises are more justified than vaginas? Oops, no, sorry, women can only be angry when they're on their periods, my bad. I mean, everybody's out in this freezing cold swamp, having a break down, at their wit's end, reaching their ''all is lost'' moment... yet, Rolf and the Eds are allowed to vent their frustrations on each other or on the surrounding environment. But not Nazz. No, Nazz is being a b*tch because.... Kevin's paying more attention to a non-living machine than to her. And he sat flat on his skinny ass and didn't help her when she needed him the most. And she didn't have to tag along with him but she did. She didn't have to put up with his cold aloofness but she did. And even if she was trying to catch his attention and flirt with him at inappropriate times she wasn't entirely useless. It was HER idea to find Eddy's brother. If she hadn't suggested it, he'd still be riding around in circles chasing his shadow. Yeah, okay, she's a total b*tch.
God forbid women have emotions. God forbid women cry or get frustrated. Then they're b*tches. But if they're pretty and nice and perfect and popular, they're Sues. Yet, male characters with the same traits.... get lighter sentences. No one even bats an eye. Boys will be boys am I right?

so first off, i did two wish rolls the other night and guess what? on one roll i got BOTH bennett AND qiqi!!!!!! (the other one was just weapons but 🤷🏽♀️) i love them both so much i literally ascended them the second i got them. i still can’t believe my luck. so now my team looks like: traveller, noelle and those two. i’m having a little issue bc i don’t have a long range combat character but i love them all too much to change anything. which means i struggle sometimes maybe if i roll for someone else in the future i might change but rn i’m LOVING them. have you ever had luck like that?
