wondering about Frank and insects but specifically about how it looks like the WH insects are highly stylized, so does Frank even know anything about real butteflies/insects?
& if he saw a real one, would he recognize it? are all of the species names he applies to the WH bugs real, or are they all made up like "Vibrant Eyespot" or "Fluttering Heartwing"?
and then there's the question - does the neighborhood have some of the more 'undesirable' bugs like moths, worms, roaches, spiders? does it have bugs outside of the generic groups of beetles and butterflies? like are there mantids? leafbugs? dragonflies? weevils? or are those too specific/complex/not-cute for the Playfellow Workshop to have included?
and then there's the question of what are the bugs? props? puppets? are they alive or do the neighbors just perceive them as such? Do they even exist outside of art, storybooks, and animated segments? I highly doubt they're alive like the neighbors are, since in the gif of Frank's head spinning, the framed butterflies' wings are moving. which is kind of horrifying if you think about it for more than a second.
just... the critters Frank loves so so so much being a complete fabrication... every piece of knowledge he prides himself on / delights in knowing being utterly Untrue... oof

AAAAAND IT’S DONE
Kinda missed a few spots, but I’m just gonna leave it like that. I’m happy with what I have now.
Herobrine is definitely the kinda guy who hates the sun bc it’s too bright for his *special eyes* and bc he’s up all night causing mischief, mostly at the expense of Steve’s sanity and builds.
Steve is not amused.
Also I really like how the top left image came out! I found some decent brushes on CSP Assets, and kinda went ham, but it looks so pretty!!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
I was going for something like an ethereal/angelic vibe, while also making it seem a bit…. Off? I’m just testing out little ideas for how Steve and Herobrine meet, like Steve is looking for a lost sheep and finds it playing with Hero deep in the woods, or they run into each other in the mines with Hero being a creep and following Steve around in the darkness, breaking his torches bc they’re too bright (hence why he uses red stone torches in the lore), or Steve is in a village trading and shit and Hero just rams right into him bc he’s running from some villager guards/iron golems, or something else.
I’m just vibing with these two dorks, idfk what I’m doing.
Also, Herobrine is immortal, and cannot die by any means, but he can be hurt. As for any injuries he sustains keeping him down? Highly doubtful.
Anywho, I hope y’all enjoy! I had fun making this one, and I’ll be brainstorming more ideas for how they both orbit each other, and if they become friends slowly, or save each other or some shit. Might add Alex and/or other ‘players’ to the mix, see how that goes.
Toodles!~

I talked about this elsewhere, but I really, really want to talk about it here...
So I joked about how a hobby of mine was to go to the DSM-V or a psych website in order to look up disorders and see how much I relate to them. It's really interesting to look up disorders I know I don't have and actively seek out parts of that disorder where I can go, "you know what, I get why you'd feel that way."
Anyway, it got me thinking about how mentally ill people are dehumanized... I think the biggest thing that separates sane people from us mentally ill people is that we are denied personhood, and we're are denied people being able to relate to us. It seems like sane people are dedicated to the idea that they could never be like us to the point that they miss out on being able to relate to us and ultimately see us as people.
What people truly don't get about psych issues is that many disorders are exaggerations of the emotions and thought patterns most all of us deal with. By nature, we are completely human and completely relatable (or, at least, have the potential to be relatable). You are not "too good" to relate to us or see our deep and ultimately human realities.

Well hello there, who's up for some fucked up horse?
Hogsteed, ladies and gentlemen. Or Hellspawns, as some might call them...
So yea it's one of the species I'm making up for fanfic purposes as none of the existing creatures in the SW universe (both canon and legends) fit my needs. Also because I'm making up a whole planet as none of the existing ones was just about right for me...
Here's the design, more detailed info will appear later. Somewhere. When I finally get myself to continue writing that fanfic. Yea...

Horizontober day 28: Shock
Revisiting my old Bonecutter concept I made for my dnd campaign. Technically you CAN ride it without detaching the blades, but… it’d hurt.
A few updates from the old design... No chillwater being the biggest one. I thought focusing on two elements would be enough.

Ah. "Animals rights" bullshit okay. Being animals that are not obligate herbivores and eating the flesh of other animals because of it is "oppressing" non-human animals. And they called out my comparing it to anti-choicers because "murder is different than death" okay well anti-choicers think abortion is murder. I don't happen to consider a human killing an animal for food murder any more than I consider an animal killing another animal for food murder, especially when as you pointed out yourself some people can't survive without meat.
Or is it a contract killing/hit on every animal You've ever eaten to survive? Are you just not a murderer because you paid not to get your hands dirty?
Like yeah it's fucking NATURAL. Humans aren't some wondrous ascended beings that don't crawl through the dirt. We fuck and fight and survive and yes, part of that survival for many is KILLING.
And it's good that you don't think people should be forced onto veganism because that would be as bad as the people who want to force all animals to eat synthetic meat and hunt via robots or whatever but my gods can you imagine telling someone who has been a vegetarian by choice for years for animal WELFARE purposes (not rights) who is vegan for disability reasons that they are "justifying the oppression of animals" and "killing animals for food is murder" when you literally can't go vegan for health reasons yourself? Okay murderer. Guess your life matters more than those oppressed animals.
Like sorry I'm going full "you're an asshole and I despise you and I'm genuinely sorry for myself that I thought we could be friends".
Like yeah the anti-choicer metaphor wasn't perfect. But it also got you to cut right to the heart of the matter. You are so divorced from humans as part of the ecosystem and food chain you genuinely believe we have some moral duty to not kill animals (but only animals, not plants or fungi, which are also living and have some measure of sentience) and to hold ourselves separate from the biosphere to the greatest extent possible.
That's just ecofascism 101. Are we gonna do the "any form of hunting or land management, even responsibly by indigenous stewards using traditional practices is bad" next? Or are we gonna avoid that one because you hopefully know better than THAT and simply think that removing humans from ONLY one part of the consumptive chain is ✨different✨?
For reference:
Also where does "choosing to die" come in to this? I wasn't talking about euthanasia, I was talking about withdrawing the life support provided by a human body if the owner of that body stops consenting to providing it, therefore depriving a fetus dependent on that life support for survival of said survival. I'm pretty sure the fetus doesn't have a choice in the matter. (Whether or not it's "alive" doesn't have much to do with anything since it's been made pretty clear that medical autonomy in terms of mandated use of your body's parts or resources is unethical at ANY point. Even if you ARE killing it, we've determined that's the most ethical option.)
Also if we're going to make bullshit oppression claims why don't we talk about transspecies people who are obligate carnivores?

Thought I would draw my druid halfling tav! Called Cafray but nicknamed “Moggy” in their childhood cult. Still in the works as I don’t actually have a laptop that can run bg3 until next month :’(
This drawing is teeny tiny so don’t look too close. Eeeeee I have so much lore to share, they have an outlander background btw :3
