#not antisemitic

K so idk if I posted about my ideas for the main antagonist group yet, but I want to clarify.
I AM NOT ANTI-SEMITIC. I AM NOT ANTI-JEWISH.
All of the main characters are aliens, from a planet and culture I created, so therefore the bad guys are aliens, plus I want to highlight in my book how megacorporations and the ultra rich/1% are the evil ones because they're letting the world burn and the people starve by hoarding all they have.
I in no way want that equated with anti-semitism or anti-Jewish ideals. I just saw a post about anti-semitic dogwhistles, and I realized how that plot point in particular might come off as.
Pinning this because this feels important for people to know.
K so this is an edit about 6-7 mo later, I'm still stuck on the fact that I told my co-op student teacher (the one who gave me the location) all about the main antagonists for the first book (aliens who would then become friends with main charas) and I gave descriptions of ideas for them, and she STILL gave me that location. She seemed nice and fine and now I'm sitting here like, "was she antijewish??? Did I seriously miss all of the warning signs my mother drilled into me???" SHE SEEMED NORMAL WHAT. Yeah so now I'm having a crisis a little bit. However, an issue I'm struggling with is that it seems like anywhere people would know the location of is problematic or would have an issue, Israel (addressed above), Russia (BIGGEST COUNTRY AND STATISTICALLY MOST LIKELY BARRING OCEANS, but would be potentially bad in the current political climate in US), US (every movie ever made in the US has it start here), any European country (various issues, certain ones might have the same issues as the original, as well as I was trying to have my locations varied so I could learn more about other cultures) I can go on, but I feel like any location I pick for the aliens to land is going to have issues, and/or be called out for racism. After thinking things through, I can obviously understand why my original choice was bad, but it's just frustrating because I was so excited to write and have feedback and one small correction just ruined it because I'm WAY too sensitive. Like, I'm sitting here thinking, "yes that was a valid concern that I didn't even think about or catch" and am still struggling to write it again. May also be the depression speaking though

Jew here with a friendly reminder that:
Criticizing Isreal ≠ antisemetic
Supporting Palestine ≠ antisemitic
Believing in the Free Palestine cause ≠ antisemitic
BUT ALSO
A random ass Jew just living their life oceans away has nothing to do with the Isreal-Palestine conflict
Palestinian Jews exist
Jews that support Palestine exist (I am one of them)
Calling out ACTUAL antisemitism ≠ supporting Isreal

Knew this would fucking happen and it's funny they turned off comments.
Anyways this is what Kissinger has to say about his heritage:
“If it were not for the accident of my birth, I would be antisemitic. Any people who has been persecuted for two thousand years must be doing something wrong.”

list of users gone because of scortched earth
partyjockers: for pointing out that there are hairy potty fans on staff and making the connection that it's the reason trans women keep getting flagged as mature
iamdealwithit: for pointing out that tumblr live literally steals your data and ip address and sells it to advertisers and the police back in December 29th of 2022, and was active up until seven hours ago today (September 5 2023) because that post started circulating again
both these people had the images from their post completely erased, their blogs completely wiped, and in partyjockers case the original post was wiped from the history of the site as well as any reblogs.
it's very strange that this has only happened twice to my knowledge and it only occurs when people point put staff's complete ineptitude and active malice towards it's userbase.
anyway screenshot this post just incase they start getting trigger happy. once is absolutely horrible censorship and should never fucking happen. twice sets a precedent that they will use this again.

Just so we’re clear, the reason why Hollywood will bend over backwards to defend Zionists while blacklisting anyone who speaks out against Israel is not because of the anti-Semitic “jEWs cOnTRoL tHE meDiA” bullshit conspiracy theory; it’s because the U.S. military complex has the whole industry in its pockets. IT’S CAPITALISM GUYS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN CAPITALISM

Holocaust Survivors on Palestine
"Jewish survivors and descendants of survivors and victims of Nazi genocide unequivocally condemn the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza
"As Jewish survivors and descendants of survivors and victims of the Nazi genocide we unequivocally condemn the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza and the ongoing occupation and colonization of historic Palestine. We further condemn the United States for providing Israel with the funding to carry out the attack, and Western states more generally for using their diplomatic muscle to protect Israel from condemnation. Genocide begins with the silence of the world.
"We are alarmed by the extreme, racist dehumanization of Palestinians in Israeli society, which has reached a fever-pitch. In Israel, politicians and pundits in The Times of Israel and The Jerusalem Post have called openly for genocide of Palestinians and right-wing Israelis are adopting Neo-Nazi insignia.
"Furthermore, we are disgusted and outraged by Elie Wiesel’s abuse of our history in these pages to justify the unjustifiable: Israel’s wholesale effort to destroy Gaza and the murder of more than 2,000 Palestinians, including many hundreds of children. Nothing can justify bombing UN shelters, homes, hospitals and universities. Nothing can justify depriving people of electricity and water.
"We must raise our collective voices and use our collective power to bring about an end to all forms of racism, including the ongoing genocide of Palestinian people. We call for an immediate end to the siege against and blockade of Gaza. We call for the full economic, cultural and academic boycott of Israel. “Never again” must mean NEVER AGAIN FOR ANYONE!"

As a leftist Jew who believes strongly in the cause of dignity and freedom for the Palestinian people, and that Israel has abused them, I am begging fellow leftists to understand that real life is not a comic book. A government being “the bad guy” in a situation does not automatically make anyone who opposes it “the good guy”.
Hamas denies the Holocaust. Hamas disseminates the Protocols of the Elders of Zion—the conspiracy theory it paints is what they mean by “Zionist”. Hamas forbids foreign aid educators from teaching human rights to Palestinians, and claims that even teaching that the Holocaust happened is a war crime. Hamas has written the aim of annihilating Israel (the country and its people) into its charter—the mass slaughter and violent expulsion of 7 million Jews from the land is written into its laws.
There is no crime any state could ever do that would justify any of that; there is no act of state repression that could ever make it acceptable to side with the organization spreading Nazi pamphlets and Holocaust denial.
Oppose Bibi Netanyahu. Oppose Israel’s far-right, authoritarian government. Oppose Likud’s policies. Oppose its violence against Palestinian civilians. That isn’t antisemitic. But Hamas is—verifiably, beyond a shadow of a doubt, to its core—antisemitic. Its portrayal of Israeli Jews as blood-thirsty, child-killing master manipulators that control international media and finance is antisemitic. Its insistence that Palestinian freedom necessitates the death & expulsion of Jews from the land is antisemitic. Its redefinition of “Zionism” as a pejorative to mean genocidal Jewish/Israeli Supremacy is antisemitic.
Supporting the Palestinian people in their plight is a noble and loving goal; please never stop that. But do not let Hamas co-opt that into excusing or denying their rampant antisemitism and war crimes.

On Twitter there are currently a lot of Christians and Muslims getting really angry about ways that Jews work around restrictions on work during Shabbat, and, like, honestly I do not understand why they care? Just a lot of non-Jews telling nice Orthodox Jews that they’re doing their religion wrong for no reason.
