“no, yeah,” she grins, nails pressed against her lips, biting down on the bottom. she’s never actually been on a podcast before. “we were talking about making an appearance somewhere, but i’m kinda - very - intimidated by men. i chose this podcast specifically.”

“oh, you know of our existence,” emma gushes, giggling slightly. “we feel so honoured. thank you so much.”

“honestly, i’m always around men,” she laughs, scrunching her nose. “i live with a man. so being around women is always a very nice change.”

“right, you recently moved in with logan sargeant in the uk,” hannah points out. “if you don’t mind me asking, how did that decision come about? because you’re really good friends with oscar piastri as well, how come he doesn’t live with you guys?”

“oh, that’s an interesting point,” emma frowns. “i never thought of that.”

“yeah, so growing up oscar and logan actually stayed with my family on and off just because they’ve got brothers and sisters that their parents would have to attend to back home,” she recalls out loud, remembering the sleepovers they’ve spend in the living room with her siblings. “i think when i was… like 15, oscar was 16, and logan was 17, obviously.

i think my sister and i had a really bad fight that turned the house upside down. i mentioned that i couldn’t wait to move out and never speak to her again — i was very overdramatic as a teen. and they were like ‘yeah, that’s a good idea! we should get a place!’”

“oh, so you didn’t even propose the idea of living together?”

“exactly! they just love inviting themselves to be a part of my life. they’ve got cars while i don’t, so that’s a big plus,” she laughs. “then, well, oscar met lily when he was 18 and they got an apartment together after oscar landed reserve driver for alpine. which then left logan and i to kinda figure things out. then, we both landed a contract to race in the 2023 season and both our racing headquarters are in uk, luckily. so we made the decision to move in together earlier this year.”

“so oscar bailed!”

“that’s okay,” she scoffs, waving off the host’s concern. “we live pretty close by, so lily and oscar are always at our place anyway.”

“so, i totally don’t wanna get into it. but like, girl to girl,” hannah grins giddily. “and i promise we’ll get into the racing stuff in a bit, but i’m just curious.”

“it’s okay because i like you guys,” she jokes. “ask away.”

“there’s a lot of speculation that you and logan seem to be too close to just be best friends,” hannah explains. “and it’s seemed to be a trend since you were in f2 together, so i just wanna ask you if… well…”

she smiles. this isn’t exactly the first time she’s heard that. while they preferred to keep their relationship under wraps for several reasons, her and logan aren’t very discreet either.

there are pictures on the internet, after races where they head to weigh-in together with logan holding her things, laughing as they walk, which is normal. but there are also a couple of pictures where they were caught with logan’s hand on her cheek, or of them walking in the paddocks with her hands wrapped around his arm.

she’s not shocked that people talk about their relationship, but more shocked that everyone seems to shrug it off as them being really good friends.

“we’re actually not romantically involved at all,” she lies, though her cheeks flush up at the thought of her boyfriend. “i think we met really early on in life so we’re super comfortable with each other.”

“so, you’re setting the record straight. you don’t have a man.”

she nods firmly. “i don’t have a man. not planning to get one — i’ve just been really busy with my career. if anything, logan is my stand-in date for every event.”

Hey I’ve read a little about the law and I kind of don’t care about it. I’ve manifested well without it and honestly it just seems like an over complication so I can still get into the void without using it, because most people do, but everyone on tumblr seems to disagree with that sentiment

Funny story, I actually shifted before I even properly leaned about the law.

I remember this one girl on Reddit who was a very popular shifter told everyone that the key to shifting was the law of assumption and Neville Goddard lectures. She shifted to Harry Potter after understanding his lectures and it only took her only a week after being on her journey for two years.

At this point, I was sooo depressed and down bad to shift. I had tried every single method under the sun on Reddit, Quora, amino, YouTube, and others methods derived from religion….so her telling me this man was my key was an absolute dream. Again I was down bad, so atp I would have eaten cow shit if that’s what it took to shift 😭😭 it is maddening thinking about how depressed and obsessed I was with it but whatever I’m up now.

Anyways I still never really got into the law because it was boring and his lectures made me fall asleep at the time. I was like 17 and didn’t really care how or why shifting worked, I just wanted to escape tbh. Anyways I decided to actually take the law seriously but then the creator who introduced me to the law left Reddit and shifting media because she believed she was mentally ill, and shifting was fake and she had to get therapy.

I remember I hated Neville and the law of assumption after that so I dropped it, which is super funny to me because why was I blaming a dead man for this situation. I avoided it with my life and anytime someone recommended it to me I got unhealthily mad and told them to shut up probably idk. I was 17 and depressed and in a really bad place and that situation just made me spiral beyond anything and ruined my mental health.

Anyways I focused on manifesting better mental health and a better life after that,and shifted my attention to just intention which is literally the everything inside an assumption. I ended up shifting obviously and then I dove into the law out of curiosity because after I did it I just wanted to know.. I guess the logistics behind it because it was a cool phenomenon to me.

But this wasn’t until 6 months after I shifted and now.. well I obviously love the law and understand it and have a blog dedicated to it so I obviously use and recommend it!

What I will say is everything we learn with the law, 3D and 4D, dwelling in imaginations, states, affirm and persist, the ego, I am state, persistence, you know all that good jazz that I even talk about, is simply because we wanna learn and understand it properly. If you don’t want to use the law or whatever that’s fine but understanding assumption creates reality is the bases of everything.

Just understand that and it’s literally the same thing without all the other stuff lol. I guess that’s why I love intention! it’s the premise of everything we do. Intending, wanting, desiring, whatever and then assuming it to be true is so simple and it works. At least that’s how I shifted anyways. Regardless you use the law even if you’re not aware of it, and there are people entering the void, manifesting, and shifting without knowing the law so why would that be different for you?

So if you wanna use the void (which is literally within you, so hating it means hating your pure state of consciousness which is weird)why would the discussion about it even matter unless you assume it does anyways. Idk my perception around it is completely different since I have met a lot of people with experiences with the void (like my church friend who died) but not the way the tumblr girlies use it. It’s valid regardless!

Literally just assume whatever benefits you and resonates with you will work and it will work, point blank periodt.

My mans is being dragged through the mud both in the books and online. We say we “love him” but are ignoring what he wants and babes, that’s Elain. If you don’t like her personally, that’s not how Az is feeling, that’s how YOURE feeling. Gwyn has one chapter (+1 sentence) of where I can even attempt to grasp at what Gwynriel’s quote as bible, but again, AZ AND ELAIN HAVE 3 BOOKS. Y’all are acting like Rhys in Az’s bonus chapter and if Rhys couldn’t make his stance acceptable, y’all definitely can’t.

Elain

Again, I say, if you do not like the lady pictured above, stop reading ACOTAR cause she ain’t going anywhere. To be so for real, I didn’t mind Elain at first, meaning I didn’t care whether or not she was included in any story whatsoever. But as I read ACOWAR and ACOFAS, I started realizing that there’s something so lovely about having a character who is innately good and wants/practices peace in a world of animosity and ugliness. She brings beauty in all areas of her life and I think that there’s nothing bad about being “boring” cause that just means your life ain’t a dang mess (*cough* *cough* everybody else in this book)

So here is where I debunk all the claims I have grown tired of ignoring:

• #1 - “He hadn’t gotten that far into his planning beyond the fantasies he’s pleasured himself to.”

So, y’all really think you got us here, huh? So, my man Azriel blatantly admits to thinking of Elain when he wants to be intimate and y’all STILL want your girl to be with this man?

Anyway, so Azriel hadn’t planned a relationship with Elain…OKAY???? Did you expect this man to have a map laid out about how he’s going to steal Lucien’s mate??? Do y’all even know Azriel? Like, be so for real rn.

Idk about y’all but when I have a crush on someone, I’m not thinking about how to steal them from the rest of the world, I’m imagining kissing them or going on cute dates. Not how I’ll actually make it happen. And ik y’all do that too with your favorite celebrities so stop playing.

He has a crush. Can you let the man figure out if Elain even wants him to act on it before he plans a 12-step mission on making Lucien disappear forever?

Azriel doesn’t want to force his emotions on anyone (as seen with Mor) so of course he’s not going to act or plot without confirmation that the other person in the party wants that. I.E. why he hadnt tried anything with Mor in all the CENTURIES that he liked her.

So, yeah, consider that point invalid.

• #2 - Lucien is Elain’s mate

(PC: @shauna_the_author) *sigh* This one cannot be dubunked, unfortunately, because it is true. You got me here.

BUT

Elain is more likely to marry Nuala and Cerridwen before she spends the rest of her life with Lucien.

And it has nothing to do with Lucien. It really, really doesn’t. Elain simply doesn’t like him. Y’all were in my comments like “oh he didn’t really sell out Elain and Nesta, he didn’t know”. OKAY. But Elain literally says in ACOWAR that she knows Lucien as two things: Feyre’s friend and the MAN WHO SOLD THEM OUT TO HYBERN

Who cares if it isn’t true, that’s what Elain thinks and with her in mind, you can’t say that this bond means anything more to her than Lucien having some ownership of her which she doesn’t like at all. She even tells Graysen that she doesn’t care Lucien is her mate (“I belong to no one, but my heart belongs to you.”)

Whereas with Azriel, my girl is practically skipping into his arms; talking with him about her dream garden, getting him not one but two solstice gifts, almost-kissing him, recoiling at Cassian’s dagger but actively using Azriel’s…

Idk about y’all but if someone who was fated to be with me was acting this way with another girl, I’d drop him like a hot potatoe. AND AS LUCIEN SHOULD. He deserves someone who wants him, not someone who, as even Lucien said in ACOWAR when he was questioning if Elain was “worth it”, is shackled to him.

I harbor no ill will toward this dreamy man, but it ain’t gonna happen so do Elain a favor and lose her number, k?

• #3 - Sarah wouldn’t do the 3 brothers with 3 sisters, it’s too cliche

Write your own book then. Fan fiction is a thing. If the ONLY thing preventing you to see reason is the possibility of a cliche in a book about kingdoms and fairies and magic then your priorities are so out of shape I won’t even spend the time explaining it to you.

This is SARAH’s WORLD. If she wants to be cliche and have the three female protagonists end up with the three male protagonists then let her. Omg.

• #4 - That Gwynriel scene tho

(NOTE THE PICTURE) Oh, you mean the bonus chapter that featured thoughts about Elain? Not that one? Oh, then maybe you mean the other bonus chapter that featured thoughts about Elain? No? You mean the scene with Gwyn…hmmm

OH! You mean the 2 page conversation about training and why he couldn’t sleep (cause of Elain) and the subsequent regift of Elain’s present to Gwyn. Yeah, I know about that but why are we talking about it? Cause that means Az likes Gwyn? Huh?

That’s how delulu y’all sound. And if I hear another “you’re the ribbon Az”, one more time I’ll scream. THE RIBBON WAS ABOUT TRAINING NOT GWYN WANTING TO SLEEP WITH THE MAN. We are talking about the same girl who hadn’t left a library in god knows how long because of a sexual trauma and y’all are forcing her onto another man??

Gwyn was focused on coming into herself and mastering the ways of the Valkyrie. Nesta meant Gwyn found another obstacle in Az that she would have to overcome to become a Valkyrie. The only man Gwyn was concerned about was Cassian and that’s cause he was getting it on with Nesta. Again, be so for real right now.

I refuse to acknowledge this point until the opposing ships acknowledge the 3 books (+ ACOFAS) of build up between Elain and Azriel.

• #5 - Elain doesn’t belong in the Night Court

This is the last point I’ll mention cause I actually feel bad for dogging the Gwynriels like this, but it had to be done. (Elucians get a pass bc at least their ship is based in evidence)

Elain doesn’t belong in the Night Court, okay, yeah Cassian said that the colors drown her out, I’ll give you that.

But Elain doesn’t know where she belongs anymore, just like Azriel has said about himself. She’s still figuring herself out and what she wants, so it’s okay she looks odd at times or feels at times out of place. Azriel keeps his shadows out 24/7 for the same reason. He doesn’t let anyone past the front he puts on unless he knows it’s safe to. They’re both figuring out how to live their best lives in their current lives.

I’ve heard Dusk Court theories and others but I won’t even repeat those (even tho they’re so good and you should definitely look into them). They just need to find their place in this world (and Cassian was right, Elain DOES NOT BELONG in the Hewn City).

Just like how Nesta didn’t believe she belonged in the Inner Circle, I believe there’s a place for Elain and Azriel where they can be themselves. They just need to find it I.E. their book.

I wanna get this out of my head and you’re one of the people that I know will set me straight. I am so beyond proud of Nicky and his new show! That teaser for M&G was fucking amazing and I know it’ll definitely get him so many nominations and awards (as he rightfully deserves - the man has been putting the work)!!!! I guess I’m feeling….bitter? Idk if that’s the right word. I’ve been living on a high from RWRB I want to see more of him and Taylor together, more RWRB content. It’s his job of course and I know he’s got so many more roles to come in his career. I just……yea don’t know how to deal with seeing so many M&G posts in the RWRB tags when I don’t think I’ll ever move on from Alex and Henry 😔

I know what you mean and I understand that feeling. I don’t think you’re entirely wrong or unjustified. The thing is, we didn’t get the full experience for Red, White & Royal Blue. There’s a big difference between these two projects.

Neither of them could even acknowledge RWRB, let alone celebrate it, despite it coming out and smashing expectations for over a month straight (lol).

It’s also not the same in that Nick, despite for some reason being labeled as “a rising star” by some news outlets and YouTube channels, has been the lead in a major production with a famous costar before (Purple Hearts & Cinderella). There’s no need to hype up working with Julianne Moore; people have already been laughing and pointing out how despite being the bigger and more notable actress, most people are talking about Nick. In contrast, Taylor had never been a lead before, so talking about working with him would’ve been significantly different.

They’re also the same age, which changes the dynamic between them. I’m not sure if or how much press they will be doing for this, but I think it’s fair to say that it would be more fun/entertaining to see Nick and Taylor together than Nick and Julianne, which is nothing against her at all. I’m sure she’s absolutely lovely.

Another difference is that RWRB is an original story based off a popular novel, and it was doubted from the start. Mary & George is based on real history, which gives it a significant advantage. Both have LGBT+ sexual elements, but it’s far easier to grab attention if you can slap the “based on a true story” in front of it; it simply intrigues people who aren’t fully convinced more, and that’s why they use it.

Basically, the “what could’ve been” for RWRB is probably the bitterness you’re feeling.

I’m not going to tell you that you can’t or shouldn’t feel that. Instead, I’ll just tell you not to let those feelings bring others down; if you want to express them, find a friend that you know you can talk to, and talk to them about it. I’m sure there’s plenty of others that have similar feelings. I myself was experiencing a weird negative emotion deep down in my chest underneath the excitement that I couldn’t place until typing all this out.

The important thing to focus on is how proud of Nick we are/should be. It’s that positivity that we want to spread. Hopefully that helps!

i think a sun shower is a great way to describe Gunil cause his personality doesn’t match his physical appearance, like expecting a sunny day only to get that short rain pour before a rainbow circles the sky. maybe you could have gone for a walk with him letting your feet guide you to the next activity but all of a sudden it starts raining bringing your plans to a halt but he would absolutely not let the rain stop any possible fun you could have instead he would fully embrace it, pulling you along with him as you run the rain pouring down on you and you would let your enjoy the moment as he twirls you around before kissing you there under the rain. by the time you pull away the rain had stopped, you didn’t even mind being drenched because you were with him.

Jungsu is soo obviously a ray of sunshine have you seen his smile?? he’s so precious and he’d brighten your days and nights just being by your side. I imagine a date where you’re riding your bikes through a park after planning a picnic for yourself, bringing all your favorites snacks, and preparing sandwiches for each other together, feeding pieces of the ingredients to the other. you would settle under the shade of a tree setting up your blanket and the snacks on it, you would sit together watching people go about their days making up back stories for them as they pass by, you’d fall asleep in his arms while he hums a sweet melody for you.

not so much a weather but more specifically the chilly summer evenings, i think that’s the best weather, it’s still hot but the air is nice and cool, Gaon seems like the type of person to just enjoy chilling, talking about life, reminiscing and dreaming of the future. driving with the windows down letting the fresh air pass through your hair, playing music loud enough to be singing freely, he takes you the hilltop that overlooks the city as the sun is setting and you watch it paint the sky different shades. if you get high you’d probably get high and just enjoy the moment, leaving music on as background noise while you talk the night away, he’d make you laugh a lot but would also get deep and emotional expressing his love for you making sure you know he loves you and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. he’s just so comforting and loving idk.

with Seungmin i imagine rain alot of it, not cause he’s gloomy but cause he’s cool he seems cold but he’s just cool, idk if this is true but he seems more like a homebody that an outdoorsy person so being stuck at home with him on a rainy day would be perfect. he would let you stay in bed while he gets popcorn before putting on a nice movie series that keeps you in bed for the rest of the day, you don’t talk much just commenting on the movie but you don’t need to you both are comfortable in each other’s arms you don’t need to express audibly you just know it, and that’s what your relationship looks like most of the time it’s filled with trust and a welcoming warmth so you never have to be worried.

Hyeongjun is a thunderstorm mostly based on his music taste than himself but also a bit of him because the sound of thunderstorms is actually pretty calming to some people but whether you find it calming or scary, he’s gonna be there with you to calm your nerves, he’ll mute out your thoughts and bring you peace. he’ll notice you on the couch curled up into a ball as the sound of thunder gets louder, he doesn’t think too much before grabbing his guitar, sitting in front of you so you could focus on him and his strumming, playing melodies that you were familiar with to bring you mind back to the safe memories that came with the songs, he’ll give you a reassuring smile at every thunder strike letting you know you’re fine and that he’s with you. soon enough you forget about the storm and let him sing for you, his soft voice guiding you to total tranquility.

Hi. Sorry, if this is anyoing. I find Rick Riordan's portray of some of the gods, and goddess interesting, and like le, not all but some. For exemple I really like Hestia, Horus, Seth, Artemis, Nephthys, Thoth, Bess, Tawaret, Anubis, Apollo, and Hermes (I can't really have an openion about how he portrays the Norse gods, because the Magnus series haven't been translated to my language yet, and buying and ordering books in English here costs a lot of money, so I have to wait (there is a gossip that they will publish it, but they say this sainc at least 3, or 4 years)) . And I have to thank Rick Riordan's books that I got into mythology, and started learning it, and that I new want to write stories based on it, and started watching Overly Sarcastic Productions. But there is a need to criticis how he portray some gods, and goddess, and then there is also a something that both him, other writers, and people who talk about mythologys forget.

One problem is Demeter. She didn't tried to kill everyone, so they give her daughter back, the reason why everything almost died was her sadness. The sadness of the mother when they child gets married is a thing (for both sons, and daughters at least I heard it), which is a somewhat common thing, even if the realetionship of the child, and they partner is healthy. I was at my cusins wedding, and my mother said that she will cry aty wedding. This is because they child, is no longer a child, but an adult. Yes I know that in the story can mean something else, because of it's age. But I still think that "Demeter sadness", would be a lot more better then "Demeter tried to kill everyone, so she can get her daughter back because she is an opsesed mother".

Next problem is Hera. I don't want to excuse her actions, by any means. She married Zeus, because he raped her, and out of shame because of it. And this marriage her only source of pride, and probably a way to try to get rid of the shame she feels. Zeus's affers brings her the feeling of shame back. It gives more deapht, portays Hera more humeanly, and is more acuret to mythology (there is just this one version of this myth). And with good write this could be writen in a way that no justify what she does to Zues's other victoms.

Next problem is Zeus's portray. I think the only thing I have to say, is that Zeus is the only gods who doesn't have any version where he don't rape someone. (the only god who don't raped, or kidnaped anyone in any versions is Ares.)

Next problem there is no cannon, and many myths have many defrent version. This is true for Medusa's origin story. In some versions she was a monster from birth, alongside her sisters, in other version she was once a human. We all know this version but it has two version. One where Poseidon rapes Medusa in Athena's temple, then Athena cursed her to punish her. And in the other older version Medusa consented to the act. And there are many more versions of almost every myth, in all mythologys, and I think this can be interesting thing when it cames to writing stories based on mythologys.

Sorry if I sound stupid, or anyoing, and sorry that this is long. I just wanted to write this for so long. And sorry for the grammar, and spelling mistakes English is not my first language.

I completely forgot I had an inbox for a while so idk how long this has been here but I’ve finally got around to it! I find this sort of discourse very interesting, and I agree for the most part with what you’re saying!

I heavily dislike interpretations that villainise Demeter in Persephone and Hades’ story too. Lots of modern retellings do this to romanticise Persephone and Hades, and its quite sad (and frustrating). Demeter freezing the crops is such a powerful story about a mother’s love, and its tragic that its been so twisted in modern retellings of the myth. Web comics like ‘Lore Olympus’ and ‘Punderworld’ come to mind for this, but (and maybe this is because of my ass memory of the series… it’s been a while since I read it) I don’t remember Persephone and Demeter’s story being touched on much in the Riordan’s books. I feel like it may have, but I can’t remember explicitly. I remember Hades and Persephone’s relationship being quite rocky though!

I hear what you’re saying about Hera too! She’s been under a lot of fire recently and I know the PJO series plays a large part in that! I can think of ‘Blood of Zeus’ being another factor in this villainising narrative of her, and even though there were some efforts to make the audience view her as sympathetic in that show, it seemed a little backhanded (overemotional woman blinded with rage and taking it out on the wrong people). I agree that it seemed a bit much to portray her as a villain in the series, but I’ll raise two things:

PJO was a series created with children or young teens as the target audience. so the series can’t be that loyal to the original myth, considering how dark it is.

Hera was a good antagonist, and her values and motives in the series were the most accurate to how the Greek gods actually were at the time. They simply did not view mortals as anywhere close to equals, but tools to bring glory to their names. They looked after them as long as they served their interests. A lot of her ‘hate’ stems from the fandom’s misogyny, I believe. It also doesn’t help that the other Greek gods in the series were reduced to caricatures of what they actually were, such as Ares (mean and violent), Aphrodite (shallow and vain), Hades (cold and distant) and Poseidon (cool swag fish dad ig). In all honesty, I understood Hera’s motives the most and I think she was written pretty well. I don’t understand why the fandom hates her so badly unless it’s misogyny or the fact that she was too good of a villain, and felt like a real threat to the characters (the Greek gods were badass, but super scary!).

However, there was that book that Riordan did write about the Greek gods that no doubt contributed to Hera’s ridiculing (that being ‘Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods’ told in the perspective of Percy). He mentioned Zeus ‘tricking’ Hera into marrying him, but disregarded the seriousness of it and continued to make fun of her. I understand its still a kids book so he couldn’t do much, as well as its in character for Percy to ridicule her, but still… I see why some people get upset at that portrayal of her as well. Especially because Hera has had a long-winded past of being villainised and made fun of for her actions, which all stem from deep-rooted misogyny.

Zeus’ portrayal fits hand-in-hand with Hera’s, to be honest. Riordan couldn’t explicitly show how he actually was, so he omitted some stuff, which was fine. It’s funny you make that point about Ares being the only god who never encroached the boundaries of his lovers, because he’s depicted as a misogynist in the series towards his daughter. Which irks me a lot.

Medua’s depictions are also very contested. I believe, and I don’t know if I’m 100% correct, but I’m pretty sure that in the original Greek myth, Medusa had always been a gorgon, and was never human. The myth of Medusa being raped by Poseidon in Athena’s temple is a Roman adaptation, and I think that story is the more popular interpretation currently. I also think that’s the story Riordan was kind of going with, considering he wrote Medusa in the first book to be in love with Poseidon (and in the original myth they had no sexual relationship). Which is… yeah. Disgusting. Again, not saying that Riordan should’ve strictly stuck to that very graphic interpretation, but he didn’t have to portray her like that. And this could’ve been avoided if he did enough research on more interpretations of the myth.

All in all, I don’t think Riordan was genuinely malicious, just ignorant to the implications his portrayals of the gods would have. There’s also the fact that he probably didn’t know how big of a hit Percy Jackson would be, and how much influence it would have over general media surrounding Greek mythology (mostly Greek mythology, but Norse and Egyptian too!). I wasn’t even aware of how problematic it was until this account started gaining a larger following, and so I also had to do research on the topic myself! There’s an assumption that Greek gods don’t have influence over people today, but there are some out there who worship them, and we shouldn’t dismiss that because its a smaller religion.

y/n’s best friend’s reactions and the messages from Lando are the perfect dichotomy of how I would be tempted to talk to her….. two v different tactics of calling homegirl out on being so .. idk the best way to phrase it.. pre-defensive??? The triple message to Lando at the end of their convo really said more about how she feels about max than anything else she’s said about him in the last like five chapters. When she lied about why she was “only going” on this date he breezed past the comment to ask for fucking chorizo I KNOW she was FUMING!!!!!! Like I could feel it in my bones that she wanted him to do or say something. Now though I’m worried that something inside her kinda snapped and she’s either gonna keep seeing metaphor and pushing the envelope until she gets a reaction from max OR she’s gonna go out of her way to pretend extra hard (harder than she usually does) that she doesn’t give a shit what max thinks of her and her love life. I have a lot of faith in you and where you’ll eventually take this plot I’m just gonna go ahead and beg you in advance that if there ends up being some kind of major miscommunication in the plot it has to be realistic !! Nothing grinds my gears worse than adults ruining their entire lives because of a miscommunication that even a 12 year old could solve on their own. Like I understand miscommunication tropes but sometimes they go so far that they defy very basic logic and I can’t watch y/n and max turn into complete idiots.. sorry that was definitely a personal preference rant - do what u gotta do it’s your story Lmao I’ve just been burned one too many times by fics that claim they’re about whole ass adults then have them act like 6 year olds for the sake of a plot point and I can’t see max doing that. No I 100000% get you. Nothing drives me crazier than people making whole life decisions based on the outcome of a conversation they never even had. Like, Y/N decides Max is in love with GP and takes a job in NYC and leaves without telling Max who then decides that the last 6 years meant nothing to her for no reason and they don’t talk until Lando locks them in a disused shopping container. Like, you two have shared everything for all these years be serious you’re not throwing that away over not even talking. I definitely see Max and Y/N being people that even if they’re dancing around the real conversation that they need to have, they’ll always be communicating with each other. I think that’s so much more true to the relationship they have and the people they are than freaking out and not talking to each other.

I think the thing with what Lando and her other friend were saying was their needling was fair but also to her it felt a little bit like a taunt. Because she has everyone in her life acting like she’s doing something a bit sideways by dating someone other than Max, acting like she owes him sensitivity around the issue, kind of hyping her up that there’s a big “caution” label on this situation and then she goes out of her way to be cautious and it turns out it wasn’t needed. I think it made her feel a bit stupid, almost like they’d hyped her that her love life was SO important to Max and it just wasn’t. So she’s like, please stop making me feel like this is a thing because it’s clearly not. And then similarly with Max, she was a bit like, I went out of my way to diminish this date/situation for your comfort, and it turns out you never cared in the first place. I think the whole thing just stung her ego a bit.

On this topic, a replacement admin for the eggs would be entirely up to the admins in charge. If you’re looking at it through the lens of ownership and copyright (whether that’s morally right/what the audience wants etc is a whole different thing obviously) because the characters themselves are a creation of the studio. The argument of their personality etc being from the admins are true but don’t really mean anything in terms of legality. Easiest way to explain it/look at it is the recasting of Spider-Man in the multiple movies. Spider-Man as a character belongs to marvel studios meaning that as beloved as each actor is to different people for their interpretation of the character it’s not THEIRS. Toby Maguire couldn’t have refused for anybody else to play the character of Peter Parker because he had no ownership despite having influenced how people saw the character. It’s the same as when an actor gets recast midway through a tv serious or movie franchise, whilst it upsets people the studio is within their right to do so because the character is theirs. Obviously in this situation we have the ccs feelings in it and their enjoyment too but it’s frustrating to see people especially on Twitter up in arms as if it’s illegal for them to be selling figurines of a character without the admins permission as if that’s the norm and because it’s not at all

Easiest way to claim ownership of a character and be able to use/sell them ? Copyright or trademark it. Which I couldn’t find records of it being done by Qstudios for any of the eggs.

First you have the design : usually you would commission an artist to make a design of a character and make the artist sign something that make them give up any rights to said character. Same would be done when you commission someone to design merch based on same character, you make them sign away the rights to this design. I don’t know if the proper contracts and forms have been exchanged and signed or anything so Idk about that

Now for the admins who play them. It can’t be compared to Spider Man like you did because this is not the case of an actor following a script and just acting as the character. Egg admins are the ones who came up with their Egg’s personalities and stories. It’s like being an actor and a writer at the same time, like you’re acting your own script WHILE writing it. This is why it can be tricky to determine who is the creator, and so the owner of an egg character. This would be easier if there had been clear work contracts establishing that the admins were creating these characters for Qstudios but as we know this isn’t the case.

I’m not saying the eggs aren’t the property of Qstudios, I’m saying this isn’t a clear cut situation, I’m sure it would be a very challenging case for an intellectual property attorney, but not for me 😵‍💫

Also I feel like the people’s reaction on Twitter is more from an ethical and moral standpoint than a legal one.

I left the 5SOS fandom many years ago, and I’m currently reading things to see what they’ve been up to, and as, granted, there could be things they’re guilty of, I don’t think it’s far to judge them for still being connected with ATL when the allegations made against them are most likely false. I mean, the first girl posted a tiktok claiming she was on their tour bus at 13, that they tried to convince her to give them her bra, offered her beer, and that they prank called her friend’s house number for a month because they were too young to have phones, but the friend in question said it never happened and replied with a picture of them at their concert, and she immediately deleted the video and said she only posted it to be “petty towards a peer”, whilst the second girl claimed Jack started grooming her at 15 and that they kept seeing eachother until she was 21. That’s 6 years. She obviously didn’t have to show her name and/or face, but she said they exchanged nudes, and the minor victim of Neck Deep’s guitarist kept her identity anonymous but posted his nude to back up her story, and he left the band. The second girl could have done the same, but didn’t. She also said she exposed him on the internet two times before 2021 and that because she received a legal threat both times, she deleted it, but no one recalls it happening, and it’s very unlikely that Jack kept seeing her after she allegedly exposed him. Not to mention, she also said that she and her friend were Jack’s guests at the APMAs, which could easily have been backed up as well because if they were truly his guests, and he was hosting it, they would have credentials etc, and if you’re at an award show and are young, you’re definitely going to take pictures. I don’t feel comfortable doubting stories ever, but this one seems so far fetched to me and I’m not even their fan :/

OK this is my opinion on the All Time Low thing, people can sue me, I don’t really care, also IDK if this is still going on or not because it doesn’t seem like there’s been any news of this since 2022. 

My opinion on this, in short, is that a band I won’t name (young, predominantly female, social justice oriented) pulled out of a tour with All Time Low under mysterious circumstances right before all the “allegations” against All Time Low started. 

Whatever this was over probably got out on some level among fans/associates of that band and people started posting TikToks about how the band was trash or sucked or did offensive things or whatever. Which like. If you’re in a band and you make offensive jokes and call women sluts, people are allowed to post that it isn’t cool and you need to grow up and deal with it. 

But this was including the “bus” TikTok they are currently suing over, which involved a girl claiming she went on All Time Low’s tour bus when she was 13. In the TikTok and comments, she refused to explain how she got on the bus, but was very obviously implying it was an incredibly inappropriate and serious situation. 

I did talk to an All Time Low fan about this, and apparently they used to have a fan club called the Hustler’s Club which included a guided tour of the tour bus. If this is true, I completely believe there were bras on the tour bus or whatever because collecting bras onstage is one of ATL’s gimmicks. However, this is like not what she was implying at all. 

I’m not a lawyer, I don’t know if vaguely reframing something you and a parent paid for like the Hustler’s Club thing as something wildly inappropriate and insinuating something bad happened amounts to defamation or libel, but it is certainly wildly dishonest. 

Anyway, I think once this TikTok that may have been based in truth but implied something incredibly serious that didn’t happen went viral, people started posting other stuff and making lists/spreadsheets of these Tweets and every time they made offensive jokes or whatever. 

At this point, someone set up an anonymous Twitter account and posted an obviously fake story about meeting All Time Low at age 10 and like being groomed and raped and abused daily starting at age 15 until age 21 or whatever. They did not even claim to be the person this happened to, they claimed it happened to a random stranger who posted it anonymously, and they saw the post and decided to repost it anonymously because it got “taken down.” 

I do not believe this story at all. If someone came out and said “This happened to me” I might maybe believe it, but someone posting anonymously that “Hey this happened to some random stranger and I’m sharing it anonymously for them because their post got taken down” combined with the extremity of the allegations is crazy. It is giving Mitski CIA operative slave conspiracy, which everyone else also believed. I’m sorry. I don’t think anyone has been able to source the original post or knows who made the original post, probably because there WAS no original post and it was all made up. 

This is an incredibly, incredibly serious accusation to make and was way beyond the bus TikTok or anything else people were saying about the band making offensive jokes and collecting bras onstage or whatever it was. 

ANYWAY, at this point, All Time Low tried to sue the girl claiming they groomed her starting at age 10. Their lawyers were like unable to subpoena Twitter to get her real name so they could sue her, probably because the account was never set up under a real name or email address, and was created for the sole purpose of lying online. 

I am like very plugged in to band discourse and I had no idea this was ever posted because it was obviously a load of shit and most people weren’t believing it. But then the band felt the need to POST ABOUT THIS ON INSTAGRAM, and therefore involve literally every person on earth and every major news outlet ever. 

They were probably all fired up because the unnamed band had pulled out of their tour and people were criticizing them or whatever and wanted to like make an example to the feminists or whatever. 

Anyway, since they were unable to sue this girl but wanted to like prove themselves, they decided to sue the girl who made the bus TikTok. They also decided to sue another girl who made a Tweet saying there was a huge number of “allegations” against the band. 

I believe this second Tweet was referring to a specific spreadsheet someone that was tracking like different posts/claims including instances of offensive behavior from the band. 

I think the people running the spreadsheet were of the belief that collecting bras onstage and making offensive jokes in the presence of minors is a form of sexual harassment, which is a form of sexual abuse, and therefore this stuff counted as “abuse allegations,” and the person being sued then tweeted “OMG Count how many abuse allegations are in this spreadsheet.” 

Anyway, I don’t know if Bus TikTok Girl was actually on the tour bus, if she was it was probably part of the Hustler’s Club. If she was doing the Hustler’s Club thing, I don’t know if what she said actually rises to the level of defamation or libel. Additionally, I don’t know if it rises to defamation/libel to be an idiot and believe a post someone else made is completely and unequivocally true. I also get the feeling these were just the two girls that ATL were able to obtain actual identities for, and therefore initiate legal proceedings because they want to win this lawsuit and prove themselves to the feminists.

Also disclaimer I did read the Rolling Stone coverage of this, and Rolling Stone is very obviously reporting in bias in favor of All Time Low whereas they were very obviously biased against the SWMRS/Burger thing. This is obviously because anybody with common sense knows the story about a 10 year old is fucking ludicrous whereas Lydia was telling the truth. However, a lot of bands like The Frights that never actually did anything got caught up in the SWMRS thing and Rolling Stone reported on it anyway because it would get them more engagement and nobody cared about those bands anyway. 

All this being said, if All Time Low "win" this case, it will probably set a really bad precedent of male bands suing or threatening anybody who says something they can’t “prove” under the guise of like “false rape allegations.” Which is what they’re doing—neither of the girls they’re ACTUALLY suing were ACTUALLY claiming to be assaulted by the band. However, at this point I don't think anything is coming of this because its been like two years?

I will also say this. Jack Barakat was “”friends”” with, and the guy from 5SOS dated, the same actress(?) when she was a teenager. The guy from 5SOS was the same age as her, but Jack Barakat was quite a bit older. A lot of people are of the opinion Jack Barakat “dated” an underage girl already, which is why people were so ready to believe the thing about the 10 year old. Additionally, he and Joey Armstrong were hanging out a lot the summer that Lydia Night was 16 and she and Joey were “””talking””” but not actually dating. Lie down with dogs or whatever. 

The actress is now extremely outspoken about how she was abused by an ex. She also dated a guy that is way less famous that was like 40 when she was like 20ish(?), and I think she is most likely talking about him. However, I think that might be the source of a lot of why this is so pervasive.

Did you buy the light novel? What did you think of it? Do you think is worth getting it (and also, if bought it, how did you do it/what site did you use)?

I did in fact buy the light novel. It was about $11 (1540 yen), and I bought it on this site. I purchased the special edition (I think the regular version is 980, but it doesn’t include the bonus comic nor the bonus chapter.) It covers the entirety of the first two volumes and chapter 12 as well.

I do have a post summarizing the new information for the first chapter that’s available as a preview here as well.

Would I recommend getting it? Well… uhhh.. it depends on what you’re looking for lol. I’ll always recommend supporting the author and this manga, so yes, purchasing the LN would be a good way to show that the fans of this manga are interested in exploring this story in different mediums. I think that way they’ll be more willing to take risks.

But what makes me hesitant to recommend buying the light novel is that it’s just the manga. If you’ve read the manga, you’ve read the light novel. There are very little risks taken. Any new information is entirely superfluous, and even then, it rarely answers something I was wondering about. The two scenes that bridge the furthest from the manga are Kurebayashi’s and Asako short POVs. It’s not much though. Also some scenes were a little out of order in order to flow better. For example, they moved the flashback to Hikaru’s dad telling Hikaru about the indoh family curse to after Yoshiki leaves ‘Hikaru’s house to meet up with Kurebayashi.

I’m not disappointed with the light novel. It just exactly met my base expectations beat for beat.

There’s also the fact that it isn’t translated. This won’t be a secret to anyone but I can’t read Japanese lol. I had to read the light novel by taking a picture of every page and putting that into google translate and i did that for all >200 pages. Sometimes the translations were an utter mess. If you read that and think reading a whole book like that sounds like terrible, I wouldn’t get it. It took about 3 hours for me to read the whole thing and that was cause I had nothing better to do.

If you were wanting to get it just for the bonus content, I wouldn’t recommend that either. Entertext was talking about posting a translation for the bonus chapter, and that’s the only new content I’d consider worth it. It explores Yoshiki’s family and is set back in autumn (so with the real hikaru). The bonus comic is self-contained and is a dream sequence (and also if you want it just dm me and I’ll send it to you) so it has zero bearing on the plot.

so um yeah a lot of words to say, get it if you want it. Don’t if you don’t. There’s nothing in there integral to the plot or you can point to and go “oh! So that’s why it’s like that!” or “This was the author’s true intentions!”

[actually thinking more about it there’s the old man convention from the end of ch9 which reveals why those old guys are important. Idk if they said it in the manga, but Mikasa is a shinto priest, Matsushima is the owner of the Matsushima Sawmill, and Takeda is kubitachi’s landlord.]

I do want to repeat though that getting the light novel will open up doors to getting more content. Hopefully the future content will be more interesting or explore some parts that aren’t touched on in the manga.

My R - Shinsou Hitoshi

A/N: Is it day 6? I’ve lost count, but I think it is. Today’s character is Shinsou, as you can see. But this one is really sad, so there’s gonna be a few trigger warnings. Based off of the song ‘My R’. Idk why but I just get such big brother energy from Shinsou and I feel like he’d be so good at comforting people just because of his past and his experiences. I think this is the best thing I’ve written so far.

Warnings: suicide provention, talk of sh and suicide

Just as I was about to take my shoes off of the rooftop, there I see. A girl with braided hair here before me. I guess I’m not the only one going through it right now. Should I leave? Should I say something? A true hero would say something, would stop her from doing what she was about to do. But at the same time, a real hero wouldn’t do what I came up here to do. My teachers at UA have taught me otherwise, though. Always save civilians, then yourself. Put them first. That’s what I’ve always done.

Despite myself, I go and scream, "Hey, don't do it, please!" ‘Whoa, wait a minute, what did I just say?’ I thought to myself. Sure, I was going to say something, but I didn’t think it’d come out sounding so desperate. I couldn't care less, either way, really. I came up here to do the same thing she was planning to do. They really should lock the door to the rooftop. Afterall, this building was one of the tallest in town. I’ve heard a lot of people have been found here. A lot of heroes kept an eye on this building in particular. Luckily for me, I found the schedules of the heroes that patrolled this part of town, and it’d be an hour or two before anyone was near. Unluckily, for the girl in front of me, I was here. And I’m a hero in training. I have to help her. Always put others before yourself, that’s what I’ve been taught.

To be honest, I was somewhat pissed. I thought I’d be alone, that I could get the job done quickly. I had to do it now if at all. Dad and Papa were working; Aizawa was on patrol and Hizashi was at the radio station. I was listening to his show on my way here. I was left alone with Shinsou and Eri. I had told them I was going out to the store. They’d be expecting me back soon. This was an opportunity missed.

    The girl on the edge whipped around, eyes wide. She had been caught. She was scared. She was crying. I stepped closer. “Please, step back,” I said quickly. “Let me help you.” She hesitated, but eventually stepped closer to me. She sat down, and I sat down across from her.

    “You can’t help me,” she cried. “No one can!”

    “I’m a hero,” I reassured. “A hero in training. I think I can at least help relieve some of whatever you’re feeling right now.

The girl with braided hair told me her woes. You've probably heard it all before. “I really thought that he might be the one,” she confessed, sobbing even hard. Ahh, so it was because of a guy. She did look young, first year high schooler at the latest. It was almost always because of a guy. “But then he told me he was done!"

I continued to listen to her breakup story. About how she was accused of cheating but it was actually her now-ex-boyfriend who had been doing the cheating. But for some reason, all I could think was for God's sake, please! Are you serious? I just can't believe that for some stupid reason, you got here before me! She was still so young and innocent. She hadn’t seen what I’ve seen. Been through what I’ve been through.

“Are you upset 'cause you can't have what you wanted?” I asked. “That you couldn’t have the guy you so called loved?” She sniffled, wiping at her eyes.

She tilted her head to the side. “What do you mean? I guess so, yeah.”

“That’s not a reason to end your life,” I said quietly, taking her hands into my own. “You’re young and this is your first love. Trust me, it means nothing. He’s a young hormonal teenage boy. Give all of them a few years and then look for a boyfriend.”

I had heard her woes, her troubles and concerns. They were all so miniscule. ‘You're lucky that you've never gotten robbed of anything,’ I thought to myself. I had lost both my parents at a young age, going between foster homes until I got to UA where Aizawa and Hizashi took me in with open arms. That was only a few months ago. They already had custody of Eri and Shinsou by then.

“I'm feeling better, thank you for listening,” the girl in front of me stood. Her tears were mostly gone now, and she was feeling a lot better. The girl with braided hair then disappeared behind me and down the stairs. 

I checked the time. The heroes would be around here soon. I’d spent more time than I’d have liked talking to that girl. But at least I got to save one last life. Taking one last look at the view from the rooftop, I turned around and followed the footsteps of the girl with braids.

Shinsou and Eri were happy I was back, at least.

Alright, today's the day, or so I thought. Just as I took both of my shoes off, there was but a girl, short as can be. I sighed. Was this a sign? Maybe I should go somewhere else. This spot was more popular than I thought. But I was a hero. I needed to help her. I needed to be the someone I needed for myself. But I couldn’t keep doing this. Heroes have their limits. Mine just came much quicker than everyone else’s.

Despite myself, I go and scream, “Hey, wait!” She whipped around, much like the girl from the other day. I couldn’t risk going out two nights in a row. Someone would get suspicious. Shinsou would tell dad or papa. Or maybe they’d stop me themselves, asking for a family movie night. 

“Let’s talk,” I said calmly. “Please.”

The petite girl told me her woes, just like the girl with braids did. “You've probably heard it all before,” she said nervously when I told her that I was a hero. I left out the ‘in-training’ bit. She wouldn’t have cared either way. She went on, spilling her troubles out into the open air. 

“Everyone ignores me, everyone steals… I don't fit in with anyone here.”

I guess I felt the same way. Or at least I used to. Then I met Izuku and Todoroki. And then I had my found-family. I found a way out.

“For God's sake, please! Are you serious?” I said confidently. “You have so much more going for you! So much more to look forward to!” I took a deep breath. “I just can't believe that for some stupid reason you got here before me.” I told her about how I had once felt the way she felt. How I had very briefly considered a way out, just as she had. “I wish I could have gotten here sooner, but even so, I showed up just in time, right? 'Cause even so, you're still loved by everyone at home. There's always dinner waiting on the table, you know?”

"I'm hungry", said the girl as she shed a tear. “You’re right. The pros outweigh the cons here.” She stood with a sniffle. She smiled sadly down to me. “Thank you, hero.” I stood, too. She pulled me in for a quick hug. “Thank you so much.” 

The girl short as can be then disappeared.

And like that, there was someone every day. I listened to their tale, I made them turn away. I saved more lives in the upcoming weeks than I had in a while. So many, in fact, that even the pro’s noticed and lessened their surveillance on the building.

I was the reason these people got to see another day. I was the person they needed most in that moment.

And yet there was no one who would do this for me. There never was anyone to come to my rescue. To sit me down and talk about my problems, my emotions. Trust me, I’ve been here before. It’s how I first met Shinsou, believe it or not. I had made my way to the roof of the dorms at UA, almost ready to take that final step. But the purple-haired boy was there first. He was stargazing, enjoying the peace and quiet away from our classmates.

I didn’t say anything, just laid down beside him. We’d spoken a few times up to this point, but neither of us had anything to say. I just silently cried beside him, thanking All Might that he was there that night. He’s been my best friend since that night, in a way.

But here I am, kissing my dads goodbye, even giving Eri and Shinsou a tight hug before I left. I wanted them to know how much I loved them. I wanted them to know that this wasn’t their fault. ‘No way I could let out all this pain,’ I thought as the main door closed behind me.

    I made the slow walk back to the rooftop, enjoying the sounds of the citylife. There were still a lot of people out and about at this hour, people going home to their families or going out to dinner. For a brief moment I thought I saw one of the girls from the rooftop. It was always girls. How strange. I feel like we’ve all fallen from the same tree. 

I reach the top of the stairs. Can it be? For the very first time, there I see, someone with the same pains as me. I stepped onto the rooftop, unconsciously reaching out to the girl. 

Having done this time and time again, this time she wore a yellow cardigan. I walked across the roof, getting closer and closer to her. Was it raining?

    No, I was crying. But why? This was just another civilian needing saving. Why am I crying over this?

"I just wanna stop the scars that grow every time that I go home. That's why I came up here instead,” that's what the girl in the cardigan said.

Whoa, wait a minute, what did I just say? Was I the one to speak these words? I could feel them leave my mouth, but I couldn’t hear myself say them. I couldn’t hear anything, for that matter. It must have been the adrenaline. It had to be. I’d never say those cursed words aloud. I couldn't care less, either way, whether I said them or not. It was just me and the girl who looked just a bit too familiar. I wanted to run, to grab her hand and pull her back from the ledge. Or maybe I should let her go. If she were like me, no one could save her now.

But in the moment I just screamed something that I could not believe would ever be said to me.

"Hey, don't do it, please!"

She didn’t move. She didn’t even acknowledge that I was there. ‘Ah, what to do?’ I thought quickly. ‘I can't stop this girl, oh this is new.’ For once, I think I've bitten off more than I can chew.

I tried again and again to grab her attention, to latch on to her hand and to pull her away from the ledge. I was becoming the person I needed. I was putting her first. I was crying now. ‘But even so, please just go away, so I can't see,’ I thought. I cried even harder. I caught a glimpse of her tear-stained face. She was crying too.

“Your pitiful expression is just too much for me.” It’s as if I am talking to no one. She acts as if she cannot hear me. Needless to say, I need to stop her. I guess today is just not my day. None of these days have been. None of these weeks. This has to be a sign. We locked eyes.

She looked away from me and then she disappeared. But it wasn’t a ‘disappear’ like the other girls did, when they walked down the stairs and back to safety. The girl in front of me quite literally evaporated. I saw it with my own two eyes. She was there. I blinked. And now she’s gone.

“Well, there's no one here today, I guess it's time,” I said to myself. “It's just me, myself and I, and there is no one who can interfere.” I cried so hard I couldn’t see, and I sank to the ground. My legs hung off the edge as I cried into my hands. This was it.

“There’s no one to get in my way here,” I whispered. “This was it.”

Taking off my yellow cardigan, watching my braids all come undone, Shinsou watches. He stands in the doorway. I’m aware he’s there, yet I pay him no attention. How could I? I had gotten too far, but he was there to snap me out of it. He woke me up.

He shook me as hard as he could, seeing the symptoms. There was a particular look in my eyes, he had said. He knew how my quirk worked. What was I trying to do, he asked me. But I gave him no answer. He picked me up gently and carried me to my room. Then he called dad. He had to be almost home by now. Now he’d know.

I know you’re confused. To be honest, I am too. It’s a drawback of my quirk. I am confused. Y/N Yamada-Aizawa. Quirk: warped reality. I can imagine certain scenarios in my head and they play out in real life. I’ve stopped many villains this way, just by sitting nearby. I can imagine they run into a brick wall. Then it happens. It’s a nice quirk, really.

This petite girl, short as can be, is laying on her bed, waiting for her fathers. Shinsou watches anxiously from the doorway still. He doesn’t want me to be alone. He doesn’t want it to happen. He wants me here.

“That girl,” he chokes out. He’s crying now, too. “The one you were talking about. All those girls. They’re you, aren’t they?”

Oh, I never thought about it that way. I did have a feeling we all came from the same tree. Turns out I was that tree. 

Shinsou sat beside me on the bed, then pulled me into a tight hug. His tears soaked into my undershirt. I let him hold me until dad arrived. Until Papa was here.

This petite girl, short as can be, is gonna jump now and be free…

Except it’s into the arms of her brother. Turns out the person she needed was with her all along. Shinsou’s always been here. He’ll always be here. He’s always going to catch me. This is enough to keep me going.

I finally got around to reading Convergence and I was honestly rather disappointed with how they characterised Viktor. I know that Convergence is an AU, but still. Comparing it to his characterisation in "House on Emberflit Alley", Convergence Viktor is much more emotional - to the point that all of his major character beats are driven by emotion, he cares less about the lives of people he is supposedly trying to help with his augmentations (even being fine with them being used as cannon fodder). I couldn't see the Viktor written in Convergence helping Naph. I could see Convergence Viktor actually replacing Naph's head with a metal one, instead of shrugging off the wild imaginations of people who fear change. Convergence Viktor is simultaneously less true to who the Machine Herald is meant to be, and truer to the horror stories that Fisher folk tell their kids to make them behave. It's sad seeing him get done like that.

Oh, you’re not alone there. I don’t think any of us were real happy about how dirty they did Viktor in Convergence. Just kinda seemed like they needed a completely morally bankrupt villain, and they molded Viktor to fit the bill. It just kinda… gave us all whiplash. Like, since his LoL release, they’ve retconned him to be less of a villain and more of a tragic victim. At the base of all of his stories, he wants to help the people of Zaun—to help make their lives and their jobs easier, to make living there safer. And while yes, he does go about it wrong sometimes, gets blinders on and gets into a pattern of thinking “my way is the best way, and they will come to see that whether they like it or not.” But generally speaking, Riot has done the work of creating depth in his character. Are there holes, sometimes massive ones? Yes. It’s Riot. But he’s come a long way from the generic mad scientist they released.

And then to go and do this? Completely strip him of his motivations, his goals, and just slap him back into the role of mad scientist. It was like… ten steps backward. (And I’m not saying I didn’t like Convergence. I was honestly happy to have new Viktor content and some of the panels were memeable as FECK.) I was also glad to see the Jayce and Viktor rivalry getting new content as well (although on that front they did Jayce kinda dirty too… like, he spoke several times to Ekko about how he’d “killed” Viktor, and he just… didn’t seem to care all that much. I know comics are a different medium, and you can’t jam pack all the micro expressions into every frame like you can with animation. But still… Jayce talked about killing Viktor like it was just another banal task on a Tuesday. Come on… these two were partners for a long time. I know there’s contention now, and perhaps the care is even gone. But there are people I’ve had falling outs with that I wouldn’t give the time of fucking day to… but I don’t want them to die. I don’t want to kill them as easily as swatting a fly on the wall.)

In the end Convergence was about Ekko coming to grips with the consequences of time travel. They needed something scary, something that Ekko’s family and friends could get involved in without compromising their characters. And they chose body augments. I just feel like this story could have been told just slightly differently, and it wouldn’t have thrown both Viktor and Jayce under the bus. Like… make it Van Klegg who wanted the mind-controlling tech put into all the augments. Maybe even Viktor doesn’t know about it. And of course misunderstandings arise, conflict happens, Viktor is still painted as the villain, but he’s not, he didn’t know, but no one believes that. This route could have at least maintained a semblance of the growth Viktor’s character has made.

IDK. I don’t hate Convergence, I’m just kinda indifferent. It’s an AU, and I’m gunna treat it that way—he’s not the Viktor we know and love. Same with Jayce. So I’ll enjoy it for what it is—amazing art of my favs I can ogle when I’m starved for content between now and S2 of Arcane.

REAL NULL PROPAGANDA HOURS!!

this weird lizard is NULL and they are the blorbo from my brain!!!

Some random facts abut the beast:

1. Null used to be ½ of a god (kinda). They were created when a mage tore one of the universe’s founding deities in half due to a misunderstanding (long story). Both halves of this god-soul congealed into a physical form, with one half becoming Null (and the other half becoming Null’s evil twin sibling Nil).

2. Null is made out of rock. No, seriously. When Null was first formed, they were more energy than physical matter. They wandered into a cave and just went to TOWN eating rocks and incorporating it into their body. so null is entirely rock and mineral based and is kept alive entirely by freaky otherworldly “magic” (once again, long story).

3. considering Null was formed from the corrupted deity of death and destruction, Null was SUPPOSED to hunt down their counterpart Nil, kill them before Nil manages to kill Null, and be reformed as the true destruction god once again. instead, Null sat in a cave for like, 100 thousand years longer than they were supposed to.

4. Everyone wants Null to be the protagonist soooo bad but Null would much rather go back to their cave and take a nap. They only left the cave because the mountain they lived under Completely Collapsed on top of them.

5. Instead of doing what they were SUPPOSED to do (kill Nil), Null spent their time wandering with their new friends and having a fun adventure learning about the big huge above-ground world while aforementioned friends are DESPERATELY trying to lead Nil and their posse on a wild goose chase and stalling them as long as possible because, unlike Null, Nil IS actively trying to hunt down and murder Null. Null is aware of this, they just don’t care.

6. At various points, Null becomes: a semi-famous sculptor, a baker, a folk legend, a criminal, an archivist, an archaeologist, a geologist, an unlicensed therapist, and a temple statue (….long story.)

7. Cares WAY more about doing whatever the hell they want instead of following fate or expectations or anything.

8. Specifically USED to be ½ a god and not CURRENTLY ½ a god specifically because of how souls work in the universe. Null (and their counterpart Nil) both start out as literally just. half of the destruction god’s soul. but after going through Character Development Null got their Very Own shiny brand-new soul. so when Nil eventually confronts Null and dies (badly) in the process, the god-part of their souls reform into the destruction god, but Null is still fine! Kind of. They did get turned into a rock for a while. But it’s fine! They got better!

9. Null’s favorite food is limestone. Null’s second favorite food is mango.

10. Null exists in a plane of existence known as the Mortal Coil (which i talk about in depth on my oc lore sideblog @mortalllycoiled if you’re at all interested in the Lore). There are a Lot of guys involved. here’s a simplified relationship chart as a reference for the scale so far!

11. Null is my special little guy and I am simply happy that you have observed him for a little bit. I designed this creature back in 2017 and I still love them so much its unreal. Here’s some random old art to look at!

How NOT to write a story

Using a bad Netflix show/Fate: The Winx Saga as a basis

Part 1 - How NOT to start a Story (episodes 1 & 2)

Introduction

Like I said on a previous post, I decided to leave that live action Winx show on while working on some assignments. The show’s quality left a bitter taste on my mouth and the persistent thought of “Man, I could have written something better”. So I decided to use this shit show as a little guide of mistakes and pitfalls to avoid, based on each episode. I would like to preface this by saying that I’m not a professional writer or anything like that. I’m at best an amateur with a huge mouth and a desire to avoid working on stuff I should actually be working on, so ignore any typos because my brain is small and lacking it’s thinking juice. That said, grab some water and grab some blankets, because this is going to be long.

“The first sentence/scene is the most important!!”

The idea that the first scene in a movie/series or that the first sentence/page in a book is the most important is not baseless. From setting the tone of your story to quickly grabbing your audience attention, the beginning of the beginning is going to set up expectations. That said, it’s not enough to simply show a quick action scene expect that to be enough. Whatever you choose to show on the very start of your narrative, it better be relevant later on in more ways than one. I’m talking about the narrative’s themes, arcs, world details, the antagonistic forces, etc.

Now, at first glance Fate’s opening doesn’t seem so bad. It does an okay job at grabbing your attention with some action related to one of this season’s 3 main antagonistic forces. That falls apart, however, when you notice how:

1)The scene as dark af and visually unimpressive. This is meant to take place at a campsite on a magical plane of existence, yet it looks like any normal forest. Idk, put some magical and sparkling moths or something, because otherwise it just doesn’t look like we are in the ‘Other world’ (stupid name but this point isn’t about it)

2)It’s kinda misleading. Blood does appear later on, but not with this touch of gore. It also induces the idea that Fate is a suspense story among other things, and while I guess it has some elements of suspense, it’s all so spaced that it will only disappoint anyone that was looking for, well, a suspense story.

3) The guy that gets killed has little relevance later on, and I honestly think that that’s a waste of potential. I mean, why have him killed if you’re just make a murder mystery with someone else later on? What if instead he was related or friendly to one of characters we meet? His death could have been a stepping stone for someone’s character arc, or at the very least not something that could have been written out with minor modifications.

“Well, the first 2 minutes were not the best, but there’s the whole rest of the episode ahead! Just because they were bad, doesn’t mean that the rest of the episode will be!”

That’s true. Like I’ve said before, the idea that the first scene in a movie/series or that the first sentence/page in a book is the most important is not baseless, however it ignores the fact that your audience can pay attention for more than a few seconds. “It gets good later on” is something we all probably heard at least once, is it not?

In Fate: Winx saga, however, the opposite can be said.

“Let’s speedrun our characters introductions!!”

Just after some guy gets murdered, we cut to a little montage of our main cast arriving to Alfea, and I think it was good, surprisingly. It could have shown a bit more of each the girls personalities and possible struggles, but it wasn’t bad (until it was). Despiste this show being about the Winx Club, the first character that our protagonist, Bloom, meets is Sky, her love interest. Not Stella, the girl who she met first in the og show and who was supposed to tour her around (something that happened for 2 minutes, while showing nothing of Alfea because Stella being a bitch is more entertaining that a fucking school for fairies). Not Aisha, who is her roommate and the only character who is sensible in this entire cast. Not ‘Terra’ nor Musa, but Sky.

Then again, they did remove the ‘Club’ part of the title, so it’s very clear where their priorities lies (and it’s definitely not ‘showing real and genuine friendships between women).

Fine, whatever. At least Sky is an important character to this show. Riven, on the other hand, is not. I always found him annoying in the original show, but in this iteration he’s just the worst. And yet he’s important enough to also make an introduction before any of the other girls? Ugh.

Then we have Beatrice, one of the other antagonists in this season, and you can tell that by the way she talks and glares at others. But her introduction is just…there? She goes to talk to Farah/Faragonda, says some shit and leaves, and that’s it. I don’t want to compare this iteration of the IP with the original show too much, because I think it could have still worked even with so many differences and spins and twists, but damn, it’s just so dull when compared to the original. It’s not threatening, nor funny, nor mysterious, nor charismatic in any other way. It doesn’t even hints at what her deal is. It’s literally “she’s a villain, bye”.

The rest of the main girls introductions are fine, and it shows well what their purpose is in this iteration. Aisha is there to babysit Bloom, Terra is there to be the girls main punching bag, Musa may have some future character arc and is there to say obvious shit (I don’t think I need miss Empath’s help to know said character is upset when they are visibly upset), and Stella is there to be a bitch constantly.

The main problem with all of these characters introductions is that: they happen so, so fast, with barely any room to breath. And speaking of barely any room to breath…

“So like, how do we explain this to the audience?” “Eh, just tell’ em”

Sometimes, exposition is inevitable. Sometimes, you need to sit down an explain wtf is going on for a few paragraphs, maybe a page or two. Fate: Winx Saga doesn’t take a few paragraphs or a few pages to explain it’s lore, backstory, world building, or anything really. It’s entire first episode (out of six, mind you) has many chunk a of pure, and I mean PURE, exposition. And unlike the story’s suspense, it isn’t sprinkled across the episode.

You have a scene where someone is explaining things to Bloom, then the scene changes, and they start explaining something else. You don’t get the joy of discovering something by yourself or seeing the information naturally unravel before your eyes. The information is laid on your plate like pasta without any sort of sauce, and just as you finish eating, more and more is placed. And the worst thing is- they don’t even say anything really interesting? If the pasta was like, some high quality shit, it would still be a drag to eat so much of it in one sitting, but at least the starting bites would at least be somewhat enjoyable.

It’s uncreative, boring and doesn’t flow well at all. And to have all of that right from the beginning would make anyone watching it for the first time likely decide to drop it immediately. Seriously, take this episode as an example on how not to relay information to your audience and don’t do what they did.

I’m sure the world you have built is super interesting and detailed and full of nuances you just can’t wait to share with your audience. But restrain yourself. Too much is going to make what could be appealing into a turn off.

I still have a lot on my mind regarding this show and writing tips and pitfalls in general, however I think that it’s best to restrain myself and leave stuff for other posts. With that said, I’ll probably talk about the writing of the characters and the worldbuilding aspect of it more in depth next, so maybe come back next week?

Also, just saying that if you enjoyed this show, I am very happy for you. Seriously, I may despise this piece of entertainment for many reasons, but I still found some enjoyment there (even if said enjoyment was seeing my friends suffering a bit) and I must say, I was even s bit upset when they canceled it so soon. What I’m trying to say is, something doesn’t have to be ‘good’ for you to be allowed to enjoy it and don’t feel ashamed for liking something that most found dumb or whatever other negative descriptor you have in mind.

Something I don’t like about the internet is that everyone seems to think that every single person should support you through your mental health struggles. It’s a nice thing to do and people who love you do usually stay by your side, but it can get to a point where you’re affecting their mental health and it’s fair and healthy for them to leave. So much of the discourse around Joe and Taylor seems to be that he didn’t support her based on the line “I know my pain is such an imposition”. But it’s totally fair if he can’t deal with it.

I would also like to add that, in my opinion, everything she says in that song (that line but also “I wouldn’t marry me either”) is what she thinks he’s thinking, not necessarily how he actually felt. It doesn’t sound like he said that to her, but whatever he did (or didn’t do) made her feel like her pain was an imposition and like he didn’t want to marry her, whether that’s true or not.

so I’ve been going to couples therapy (second time today, we’re doing a course of 5 and will then see) and she has a few things she’s said - she’s super great - that really stuck out to me. One of them is that we all have our own story and a lot of the time our story is informed by what we’re thinking and our pasts and shit and has fuck all to do with what our partner (or really anyone we have relationships with - broadest sense) is thinking. That’s been really powerful for us because we’ll say something to each other in the session and she interrupts like “so that’s the story you're (me for example) telling, what’s the story you (him for example) hear?” And like a lot of the time it’s vastly different stuff. With Taylor, I think the stories she tells herself are very powerful because the stories she tells us are lol and that’s a watered down version of what she’s thinking and feeling and believing. But they’re HER stories. And I think I’ve always been saying that but I’ve become more aware of it in this therapy bout right because I’ve never done a couples thing before and so I’ve pretty much always told my story only.

like to give a random example right one of the issues we’re dealing with in therapy is my tendency to binge drink and that’s something I’m dealing with on my own time also but some of the stuff he’s upset about didn’t make any sense to me when he got mad originally (which is why we’re in therapy now). For example, one time we were out with friends and he wanted to go home and I didn’t and he said “I’m cold, let’s go” and I said “I’ve still got half a glass of wine left”. What I meant is “I want to stay at this restaurant longer, I’m still having fun” and what he heard - because of his own cockroaches in his head and like his alcoholic SIL and BIL and actually his ex wife and shit - is “I’m prioritizing alcohol over you and your comfort because I want to keep drinking.” That genuinely wasn’t what I meant, but it’s what he heard and that’s valid right like because we all hear different shit. We all have these things right and our stories and whatnot. We only EVER hear Taylor’s story on her lyrics and that’s FINE but it’s not the absolute truth because there’s no such thing? Like in real life personal relationships there’s no objective single truth?

the other thing the therapist talks about a lot is how every relationship requires a lot of work. people all come into the relationship with their own baggage and preconceptions and ideas around shit and even if you don’t fight or talk about it, resentment grows. My bf and I do fight lol that’s why we’re in therapy and she says conflict is an opportunity to resolve that stuff instead of letting it fester and yeah I mean that’s why we went to therapy. I’ve been in prior relationships where there was no fighting but a GREAT deal of resentment on my side and no opportunities for growth or fixing it idk. To me, YLM sounds like that kind of relationship. “How can you say you love someone you can’t tell is dying” idk dude because you haven’t told him and he’s not a mind reader? And I say that with 0 judgment but like that’s legit a problem.

finally I think Swifties need to realize Taylor’s partners have their own stuff going on and like no they can’t just orbit around Taylor. That wouldn’t be healthy at all? You can’t exist in a happy relationship purely to satisfy your partner like you both need to do shit idk.
