i dont ship juliayne (juliayne shippers i do not hate you please do your thing i love you), but goddamn i want more interactions between theyre sooooo silly

ep 13: listen, i think wayne winning is fine. do i love himbos? yes. was i rooting for him in the finale? yes. in the grand scheme of things, do i think he is a good finalist? no. we can all agree that hes very much an owen, and i dont mind that!! i actually think having a fan favorite, comic relief, underdog third party winning makes sense in this season, because i dont think caleb or julia winning would be a satisfying end (especially how they were handling them by the end)

caleb's story was messy, and at the end of the day (and i know that the intentions changed), he did start his alliance with priya to use her. him winning, after all of the drama, after priya was gone, wouldve just idk felt shitty. he did get the girl in the end, which concludes his story better than him winning it. (if im comparing this to the tdi 2007 final three,, i guess hes the gwen)

as for julia, she had two seasons to be villain, and it was amazing. she is so good at what she does and she is such a joy to watch. and we all know how total drama handles its villains, they need to get their comeuppance. did bowie double cross her last season? yes. and she came back still was the main villain and was AMAZING at it. but she was still the villain for another 13 episodes, AND HER GETTING PRIYA OUT LAST EPISODE, she cant win. was her just desserts satisfying? meh. nice callback to heather (we all know julia is the heather of this comparison), though i can understand people who dont like this callback and think its tiring or something. they couldve done something else, but im not mad (i kinda fuck with the mullet). i just see no satisfying way for julia to win with how she was presented in these seasons: she was not world tour heather, with three full length seasons and a greater threat to overcome; she was island heather, and therefore could not win.

overall thoughts of the season:

im someone that thinks the hockey bros jokes nearly always land, so i enjoy the shit out of them (i think im in the majority?)

im someone that did not like priyaleb at first, grew to being more neutral about it, but still found it to be a bit tiring. i like priya, i like caleb, i dont like tiring romantic subplots, and it sucks that that was the entire thing for these characters this season

the julia mk duo was AMAZING, one of the highlights of this season and one that i never wouldve expected to be real. mkulia wins in my heart and i hope they start their podcast (JULIA WAS GOIGN TO USE THE MONEY TO START THE PODCAST WITH MK HOLY SHIT GIRL IS IN LOVE)

it sucks that certain characters really got nothing this season (millie, nichelle, emma, and even axel to an extent).. but i get that characters like millie and emma already had a lot of screentime last time and someone has to be an early boot (just realize the ones i listed off were all women,, damn the writers fr just hate women)

at the end of the day, i really enjoyed this season. and i think the most important part of that enjoyment was this was the first time i got to watch a season and have no idea what was going to unfold. i watched the first four season of total drama when they were airing, but i was a little kid with poor comprehension skills. the first three seasons aired before i knew how to read (i learned to read late). and with tdpi, rr, and tdi 2023, i watched them after the fact and knew who the winners were going in. this was the first season i watched were i truly did not know the winner, and that added to my enjoyment. not to mention this being the one and only time i was present in an online space to talk about show as the episodes dropped. this season was a bit messy here and there, but it delivered some great stuff. i found myself laughing out loud and just having a good time, which is all i need out of my silly little cartoon

It’s almost like he saw my blog post about me ranting how none of this matters. Life’s kinda crazy innit?

Here’s part of the article where he addresses the podcast/The Adam Friedland show situation/Ice Spice.

“On “The Adam Friedland Show,” Healy and the hosts roamed more or less randomly around the cultural landscape, cracking jokes. One of the hosts asked if the rapper Ice Spice, who is of Nigerian and Dominican descent, was an Inuit Spice Girl, and the group then did crude approximations of an Inuit accent, veering from vaguely Chinese to quasi-Hawaiian.

Later, he laughed as the hosts did impressions of hypothetical Japanese guards at German concentration camps. He joked about watching the brutal porn channel Ghetto Gaggers. After the episode went up, outraged headlines and furious tweets—“matty healy, how are you getting on stage every night and mocking toxic masculinity and then going on a podcast and undoing the whole thing by being wildly ignorant, misogynistic, homophobic, racist, everything else under the sun”—predictably ensued.

I asked him about the podcast. He’d been doing so much promo, he told me, that he wanted to do something that felt more like simply talking with his friends. But, of course, he had done this all in public, on mike. Had he baited his fans on purpose? “A little bit,” he said. “But it doesn’t actually matter. Nobody is sitting there at night slumped at their computer, and their boyfriend comes over and goes, ‘What’s wrong, darling?’ and they go, ‘It’s just this thing with Matty Healy.’ That doesn’t happen.”

“Maybe it does,” I said. “If it does,” he said, “you’re either deluded or you are, sorry, a liar. You’re either lying that you are hurt, or you’re a bit mental for being hurt. It’s just people going, ‘Oh, there’s a bad thing over there, let me get as close to it as possible so you can see how good I am.’ And I kind of want them to do that, because they’re demonstrating something so base level.””

Part of the interview speaking on Taylor and Matty’s relationship. I hope people give them the space and best wishes they deserve. Many fans of hers have been hoping he does something bad to her so she realizes he’s no good for her? It’s quite disgusting.

“In May, tabloids reported that Healy and Swift were an item. Both of them, onstage during their respective tours, seemed to conspicuously mouth the words “This is about you, you know who you are, I love you.” Healy flew from the Asia leg of his tour, in the Philippines, to attend Swift’s show in Nashville. There was chatter, online, that it was a joke, or a publicity stunt, or perhaps simply two ardent self-chroniclers gathering material about intertwined egos for devastating pop albums to come. Neither of their representatives would comment on the record, but I kept getting texts from people who knew them, and who insisted: this time, it’s real.”

Its da freaking new year baby

I mean it turned new year like 13 hours and thirty minutes ago for me i was just busy and didn't post here at the time. Anyways.

2023 has been A Lot for me! On one hand my wrist issues finally fully caught up to me and it's one of the first years i've not been able to draw as much during which has been. Very hard. It's been a year of health issues and my body kinda failing me in a lotta regards so it's not been great on that front. But it's also the first year i got to meet my boyfriend in person, twice!!! And realise how much more beautiful and kind and loving life can be, and how much i wanna survive onwards and upwards and do wicked gay shit with that man in future years, it's the year that being so loved has given me the courage to make BIG FUCKING RISKS and plan for BIG FUCKING CHALLENGES in upcoming years, and thats awesome. I couldn't be the man i have been this year without him, i really couldn't. I'm so grateful to finally have a partner and friends and love and gentleness, it is something that was so sorely missing in my life and it is something that's keeping me going even in the darker months.

It's also the year i took risks in other stuff too, which i never could've done without my bf's support, and now i've been able to work on so many things for The Hotel Podcast and thats fucking AWESOME?? I GET TO MAKE STUFF FOR THE SHOW I LOVE?? I did the artbook and we got to do the second calendar which ruuuuled, i made a postcard, i've done some other stuff ;), i made a 3d background and learnt some video editing for it; i've accomplished so much even against my body and wrist failing and i feel so so proud of that, and no matter how things go i wanna keep trying to do more. I feel like i'm finally showing what i can do. I hope people can see how much effort and will goes into what i do, i hope it pays off and that you enjoy it!

I wish i could say i left this year on a high note due to all that good that's happened to me and i mostly am absolutely. But in all honesty i also went to sleep last night filled with a palpable dread, this past week i realised someone close to me has, without getting into it to a degree i'm not willing to share online, gone down a pipeline to become a person i'm not comfortable with while i've been busy elsewhere. I went to bed knowing that either 2024 would have to be a year of potentially risky confrontation, of running, or of begrudgingly resigning myself to making sure i isolate anyone i care about away from. This. So thats a shadow hanging over me at the moment, and is one that has soured my week a little. I don't know what 2024 holds in regards to sorting this, it's a little scary.

I am going to be 27 this year, in February! And as i get closer and closer to thirty i realise that (while time isn't running out for me, for any of us) i really would like to move on into thriving rather than just surviving the years, and that part of that thriving needs to be transitioning and becoming independent from my parents. Of course the former is complicated due to the fact i am not able to be out to everyone in my life and even just starting the path to transitioning would out me and potentially destroy a part of my life that has been there for 26 years. There's also of course the fact i live in the uk and transitioning here is going to be a ten year waiting list if i'm even lucky and they deem me trans enough to transition l o l. So as you can imagine, thats complex and hard to figure out! On one hand i should start the process asap BECAUSE its such a long process here, but on the other hand i don't know how to handle my own safety and comfort in regards to being out to those i currently am not, and i'm not sure how my mental (and honestly physical) health would handle the fallout. The latter is complicated of course due to being broke, uneducated, physically and mentally unwell and a myriad of other factors; we don't live in a world where you can afford a home or to feed yourself anymore! So! Yknow!! Unlikely i'll be moving out anytime soon!

What i am doing at least is trying to thrive where i can, like dandelions growing in cracks the pavement may be unyielding to me at this moment but i can find the soft dirt inbetween; transitioning and independence may not be possible right now but i can continue to do my work and try to succeed there, i can make my room better for me (which i have done with finally getting a new bed after the one i had since i was a child grew no good), i can spend more time doing what i love out the house (visiting places, seeing my boyfriend, ect ect), and i can take what i can when i can. Maybe i'll try to learn to drive this year! I'm not sure i trust myself on the roads, but maybe i can learn to. And all of this is progress towards those final goals, even if i can't so much as step on the first rungs of the ladder towards them yet. I also take solace in knowing that for every dark cloud over me that makes my life feel so uncertain and hard to make it through there is incredible sunshine too; that even if the year is hard and cruel as they so often are i will still be loved i will still have friends and i will still get to smile. And that even if i can't accomplish big goals, a lot of small goals accomplished over many many bad years will build up, and one day i'll be free. And that's something.

My first hope for 2024 is THAT MY HEALTH GIVES ME A BREAK, NO MORE HEALTH SCARES PLEASE, and that perhaps i'll be able to even get some answer's and help for my physical health. My second is that my courage pays off and i succeed at flying alone for the first time to the states to be with my love! My third is that the year is kinder, and that i can make more art, maybe even regain some of the independence i had when my wrist was ok enough to let me do art as a job. My fourth is that i laugh a lot, and smile and have joyous moments with loved ones and indulge in what i love with unabashed and unashamed joy! And my fifth is that i get to do good for others, because even if i can't get out, even if i have to survive instead of thrive a little longer, i can at least try and help when i can.

Happy 2024, my chest hurts, my joints ache, but i'm still kicking and i will continue on forever. Bastards aren't getting free of me yet, i'm persistent. I haven't even ridden every rollercoaster in the UK yet.

Honestly music for me is like, the anti grounding? I tend to have music on all the time, or if not that then it's a stream VoD or something, so a lot of the time if I've got music on I'm paying attention to something else, or alternatively daydreaming some.

I hope you're not asking for brands here cause I don't tend to pay attention to that, lol. When it comes to soap I pretty much just pick up a pack and pray it doesn't smell like something that makes me nauseous or whatever. Pomegranate is super nice, though.

TPP spoilers kinda. Throwin thoughts around, encouraging comments.

I have such incredibly high hopes for Sasha Wire as an antagonist. She is my favorite so far in the podcast. I'd like to hear more on her reasoning of Dark Matters being the Best Route and if she'll actually make her own redemption by making Dark Matters better, but that seems highly unlikely. What's probably gonna happen is it's gonna tie in with S2s cybernetics. Dark Matters adding cybernetics to criminals perhaps? Perhaps ones with great fame and skill, that one could make an example out of? Haha. Wouldn't that be weird.

Anyways, focusing on Sasha. Her motivation is stellar and has been set in place for a long time. Annie, leaving the HCPD, likely even Juno's departure for them as well. The smart ones get off of Hyperion. The smart ones leave Mars because they know they can't fix Hyperion from the inside. I wholeheartedly believe she still has her attachments to home and wants to improve it. That her motivations line up with S1 and S2 Juno, and her deal with the devil is seen as a necessity. We have to circle back to Newtown to see exactly what she's done there however. Did she help? Did Dark Matters have any play with Ramses? They were watching the Miasma fiasco, so is this Illuminati bullshit tied in everywhere?

It's interesting to compare how her and Nureyev's minds have a bit of similarity. Pull a string here. Organized. Plan upon plan and believing they can manipulate anyone in the room. Probably boxing anything worthwhile when required (like a conscience). I'm sure someone's probably said this somewhere, but Sasha's and Peter's mirroring in thought process is. Hhh. They both want to be unknown and nameless.

We know that Nureyev's reasoning to hide his true name, true face, true nature, whatever, is from guilt and need under a cloak practicality. No, of course he doesn't feel bad about Brahma, about Mag, about Slip, and doesn't struggle with letting anyone in to see what he's done. It's simply that the things he's done are too big to handle, too big to tell anyone, too risky, right? Nah. He 100% could've and should've told the family what he did with the Guardian Angel. Any scrap of truth, especially telling them that he was a young revolutionary doing the right thing? It would've struck their hearts. Jet hating the weapon, Buddy and Vespa hating the suppression, it's severely unlikely they would've taken his past in a negative light, at least for long. But he didn't because he didn't want to be known. The guilt is too great.

So, rounding back to Sasha, does any of this apply to her? Has she done something horrifying while we weren't looking and is now attempting to wipe everyone who's known her in a way to escape her guilt? Or is this practicality? I've heard some people talking about Mick and how he's likely in danger, but I doubt it, since he doesn't know what she's been doing recently and holds no grudges on her. No guilt for her there then.

Juno is dealing with two people dear to him that are very self focused, very driven, that he KNOWS have good centers, and yet what are they doing? Part of his family, hurting his family, one way or another. I wonder if his forgiveness of one, or lack thereof, will impact the other.

Sasha is boned after almost hurting Rita tho. And the final nail must be putting everyone else in Brainwash Jail. So, yeah, might not be a mirror, anywhere near comparable forgiveness wise, unless Nureyev has some pretty bad skeletons. I'd really like to see a Sasha redemption arc on principle, but I won't get my hopes up on that.

SO THE LAST TWO EPISODES OF SEASON 1 HUH *screams*

OH MY GOD HE'S EXPLAINING THE SCEPTICISM 'Of course, I believe. Of course I do.' :AAAAAAA 'Because I’m scared, Martin! Because when I record these statements it feels… it feels like I’m being watched. I… I lose myself a bit. And then when I come back, it’s like… like if I admit there may be any truth to it, whatever’s watching will… know somehow.' OH MY GOD HE FEELS WATCHED. AND HE LOSES HIMSELF?????

AFTER ALMOST 40 EPISODES OF BEING THE SCEPTIC. HE'S ADMITTED IT. AND IT'S SUCH. A. THING.

I was wondering about it like a bit but not too badly. Because you know how there's this big difference in Jon's voice when he's reading a statement vs before and after, when he's adding his comments or whatever else. And... Well. It makes sense from our point of view, when you look at it as a podcast, because well, it's a podcast and it means that the voice has to be interesting to us as listeners, to set the atmosphere and all that. But from the in-story perspective... It didn't make a lot of sense. Why would he get so into these statements if he's then denying all of them as soon as he's done? And I mean, I guess the reason for 'why' still wasn't given, but at least the shadiness of it all is, well, clear as something in-story and not just, you know, because the podcast needs to sound nice to us.

AND NO THE TABLE NO SASHA NOOOOOO LIKE EXCUSE ME they were giving the voice actors for every character after the last episode of season 1 and they just gave. A new. Name. For. Not Sasha. Which, you know, really confirmed it, because I had my doubts like what maybe I'm hearing wrong. What no. No no no no. That was so obviously the same table that got Graham in like, 3rd episode of something, and now Sasha, noooooo. Is she dead or is she like idk, somewhere else but alive? But these things made a lot of people die so I guess I should assume that she's dead. So sad :C

AND THE TAPES. I actually noted down the numbers when Jon said which tapes disappeared and then I looked which episodes those were and one of them was the one where Sasha gave her statement and I am not sure about the other one because you know, I'm not gonna relisten to it now, but it could be the one where Sasha interrupted Jon, and this would mean that the tapes that disappeared were the ones on which her voice—real Sasha's voice—had been recorded. So now they just... Have no proof.

BUT ALSO when Graham disappeared, that one random person remembered that wait this is wrong. And nobody else remembered. But one person did. And I'm kind of wondering if anyone's gonna have a 'wtf that's not Sasha' moment. Clearly not Jon, clearly not Tim, clearly not Martin. If Elias did—Not Sasha did say that he looked at her strangely—then I wouldn't trust his ass to say anything anyway. But ye. I'm wondering.

And they found Gertrude's body. Damn. I kinda hoped that she would be alive when that bit was told about her being missing and not actually dead. But she's dead and damn. That's. Well, something.

Sooo a lot of things happened. Like. A lot.

I have to say that I hadn't expected to actually succeed in listening to TMA when I started because idk I guess podcasts as a format aren't that much my thing. I get distracted so easily and I need to be doing something that does not require me to think if I am to actually focus on what's being said. Plus I'm not a fan of horror. None of the stories were scary to me yet and usually I don't find horror scary in general, it's just not interesting, I guess.

But this. Is so. Cool. I just. Akgfdjhgd I get excited about every little piece of connection and every little hint at the bigger things going on and everything everything everything.

I love Until Dawn but unfortunately I only like The Quarry.

gonna put spoilers incase ya yet to see the game, I suggest it. It’s a good watch but the ending is a tad-bit unfavorable. Shoulda stuck with the police interview, not a fucking length boring podcast...

Straight up, I absolutely enjoyed trying to understand the meanings of the Tarot Cards, I loved trying to imagine what would’ve happened had ya done this rather then that ya’know? What if they grabbed the fireworks? What if they went down this way rather then that way.

I had such a fun time piecing together the story and the clues.

But man, mystery and solving things aside, the lack of character exposure and development leaves a foul taste in my mouth.

Let’s start this off by talkin bout Nick.

From the play-through I watched(Jack’s) Nick was more or less dropped after the pool shit-show(maybe half way threw the game?) like, he explodes and then dips. We see him locked up on the Hacketts basement but what happened to him after the power goes out?

I get that you can’t really have us play him, he’s the enemy now but I just don’t feel like we really got the chance to play or interact with him. He was more or less incapacitated after his attack so there’s that too.

Just feels like Nick didn’t get awhile lotta time and attention given to him and he reminds me of Matt form Until Dawn. I get that he was essentially a Plus one being Emily’s BF but that man got like no screen time. He also reminds me of Jessica, home girl was asleep for like the majority of the game lmao.

Second off, Kaitlyn. She was also severely underused in my humbled opinion.

The way the game presented her, she just seem so full of potential, the way she put Jacob and Nick in the ground with her marksmen(?) skill's, how she often took charge of the situation, the fact that this girl jumped form a hanging car and landed back first on tires and proceeded to get up like nothing happened ?

They were playing her up to be the final girl and yet? She was just kinda there with Dylan against Caleb.

She’s like Sam tbh. Both feel like the final girls, both very bad assed and both reconfirm my *half hand flip*

Third off- ✨Ryan✨

He’s got to be my favorite but man, it just felt like there was something else to him, sorta like Josh.

He just felt like he knew what was going on or at the very least knew something that the others weren’t aware of. Considering how close he was to Chris, I wouldn’t have been shocked if he clued Ryan into the situation. Not outright tell him bout the werewolf’s but maybe that there’s creatures around here.

But who knows, maybe this is my over-critical mind thinkin that everything is sus and mistaking an awkward boy for something that he’s not. Also Him and Dylan ftw

Fourth- Emma. I don’t like her

No. Nope. Nuh. Not for me.

I just, no, She’s kinda manipulative and I don’t vibe with that. I get that Jacob is still in love with her and wants to stay with her and she doesn’t want to stay together. I can respect that, long-distant relationships aren’t for everyone so good on her for voicing her reasons.

But there is absolutely no fucking need to string that boy on for that long, to keep flip-floppin and givin him hope. That's just not it girl.

Also low-key thought that Emma and Abi were gonna be a item :P

Sixth of all Dylan is a fuckin king omg.

This man, i swear to god. He’s actual pretty damn smart and brave for telling Ryan to chop his hand off and being aware that there's an infection spreading when Nick is bite.

He’s good “comedic relief”, quite funny and I like how he vibes with Ryan and Kaitlyn. Gives off Chris vibes.

I thinks he’s neat.

Seventh goes to or girl Ash- I mean Abi.

Lack of time and attention tbh. sounds/acts like Ashley.

Kinda disappointed.

Eight is Mister “needs to snap outta his fucking trance” Himbo Jacob.

He’s the jock(cough cough Mike cough cough) and just radiates himbo energy.

Jacob, please im begging you, get over Emma. You’ll be better off I swear!!

Now on to various other rambles-

Travis Hackett is Flame-thorough guy, could say the whole fam is but we all know how that fairs.

I was also gonna cry my eyes out if Max died and Laura is pretty the final girl too.

Also, don’t lie to me-the werewolf’s are just reskinned Wendigos. I get that they didn’t want to stick the whole fuzzy-wuzzy furry werewolf’s but surely, just surely, they could’ve made them just a bit more werewolf looking?

They all looked slimy and smooth, bit of fur here would’ve done some good at making it look more mangy and viscous. I get that they are all covered in blood and gore but, they just look like slimy Wendigos.

I’m sure y’all could’ve guessed my stance on the end-credit scene but I’m sO DISAPPOINTEDIN THE LACK OF A GROUP REUNION. AH, there should've been tears shed for lost friends or tons of hugs and happy/awkward/flirty convos bout the whole damn night. but no, no, we got a podcast.

I get that it’s ties into the start with Ryan and the whatnot but we were robbed i tell you, ROBBED!!!

I’d give this like a 6.5 outta 10 tbh. It did keep me interested, loved all the clues and details despite some being super obvious(Dog boy...), Thought that Eliza was a good “replacement” for the totems and i enjoyed her but thought that her stroy kinda fell flat. You’d think she’d come out and like terrorize ya for your actions but no, she just threatens you.

Honestly thought that Mama Hackett was gonna play a bigger role but i was so shocked when Jack blasted her face off lmao. Good realism tho, got the chance to shoot someone why not take it? why wait.

SO! this is odd, but I've fallen down a rabbit hole of cults, cults documentaries really, and I listened to two different podcasts by 3 different former NXIVM members and one thing I found so very interesting is all 3 of them (and at least two of them were not Americans by birth, idk about one of them) all went out of their way to both sides the American political system, which the idea that people who vote for Joe Biden are "a little bit culty" vs people who you know Trump, there just isn't that same thing, for sure there are left wing political cults but they rarely have much influence in Democratic politics vs Qanon

any ways, it kinda dovetailed to something I'd thought/realized about cults, and maybe not all of them. People talk about how "any one" can fall for a cult and I get why they say that, but I think really they abuse people having narrower information bases than they think they have and abuse pop wisdom truisms. And like all of these people and a number of their Ex-cult member guests (even experts in cults) made different comments about being frustrated with the world and "our leaders" and politics and how "why can't they just get something done, it should be easy" and all of them wanting to or thinking they were saving the world/humanity by doing... nothing but being in this cult. And it's very that air of "I want change the world but don't want to do the work" you see (and that sounds mean, because these people worked themselves to the bone for these cults, but like not building schools or feeding the hungry) and also "these has to be a simple answer, it can't be this hard for everyone to just..."

and I think a lot, most, people reject complexity in and of itself, and lots of people believe the pop wisdom that corruption or selfishness is blinding "leaders" from the easy answer to fix the problems of the world. And I think thats what cults feed on, as well as people wanting to feel smart "you get the secret information, the answer, that everyone out in your normie life were too stupid or self involved to get"

And it is! Most things in life are complicated, particularly in the world we live in today!

I think your musings are pretty on point - this all reminded me of a quote from Joan Didion's “Life Styles in the Golden Land” in Slouching Towards Bethlehem:

The thing about cults and similar movements is that they take advantage of both a person's biases and a person's need to belong and be seen and be special, and in the world we live in now, you can specifically and narrowly tailor your news and information consumption in a way to exclude things that contradict or challenge you, and so much content, both entertainment and news-wise, is being more designed and set up to maintain that engagement and also evoke more emotional responses.

Seeing all the Ryan Reynolds stuff is really scaring me that Rob is just going to start having famous recognizable faces on the show and distract us from what we actually care about. RR only really plays one character afaik? (I mean, good for him, whatever, but it's going to feel like Celebrity Cameo and iasip is very good about avoiding that?) Am I the only one with this anxiety? I know RCG clearly protect sunny like hell, but all the positivity online about this might sway them and I scared...

Oh I feel you. Personally for me, I think a lot of my worry comes from them wasting the storyline and potential of giving Mac a boyfriend on the show. Obviously we all have this lofty (and CORRECT) expectation that Mac getting a BF is gonna result in Jealous Dennis (bc where else would that go like BE SERIOUS). But I'm afraid that it's gonna end up being this one-off throw away cameo that is just like "See we did the thing now shut up!" Idk--I haven't been personally keeping up with the podcast but hearing that they're "Out of ideas for s16" makes me uh, Concerned. Maybe they're just bluffing or being self deprecating. I hope. Otherwise. Yikes. I also think the hype is less around Ryan himself and more of the collective Sunny Hivemind losing their absolute shit bc since Rob became close with Ryan we were like So make him guest star as your BF on Sunny, you won't. And then Rob was like BET. And we're now all like oh shit this is happening. TBH I think Ryan will be fine but it's how they're gonna write the rest of them that could skew this from good to cringe. I also don't think it's gonna be a long term or even multi-episode commitment. Bc Ryan Reynolds is Ryan Reynolds and he's got shit to do. Also Ryan is just super fucking mainstream which is why it seems like EVERYONE is talking about it and it's being covered everywhere. Sunny will fade back into its comfortable oblivion soon enough.

TBH I don't think you have to worry about a flood of special guest stars coming in and turning Sunny into something it's not. First of all, Rob's only famous friend is Ryan Reynolds lmao (all shade Rob no one likes you). If anything, Charlie and Danny are the ones who could've gotten the pull from some big celeb cameos over the years and if they haven't done that already, I don't think RR is going to be the thing that makes the levee break, yknow?

I always want to give RCG the benefit of the doubt, s15 kinda restored my faith in them...a little. Cautiously. And it seems like them watching old episodes and remembering what they liked about the show has given them some inspiration to bring Sunny back to what is was. Honestly? I'm not getting my hopes up either way. I don't think this is gonna change a lot, if anything. But it might not live up to the hype of Mac having a BF in our heads. And I don't see a world where big celebs come on to Sunny for the sake of doing RCG a favor. Rob seems to save that for Mythic Quest tbh. Which I feel like it's more fitting on.

But i GET you. Always expect the worst from Sunny/RCG and you'll never be disappointed. Sometimes you might even be pleasantly surprised.

Here’s the thing, I had some hope for Corey acknowledging Colby’s situation or like replying somewhere but the silence made me dislike him so much to the point that I literally have no respect nor care for him. I don’t keep up with him or anything but I didn’t mind him but seeing now that how he hasn’t even tried to say anything is horrible like how?? I would reach out to anyone be it friend or not if they got something as extreme as cancer and I can’t believe him not saying anything at all. I hate to be that person but whatever fame Corey has got its all cuz of snc as much as he would hate to admit it. I appreciate Jake being there for Colby or even trying cuz like that shows that he still cares but fuck you corey damn

this was the final nail in the coffin, for me, on any hope of liking corey. like i've never been the hugest fan of him, but i always liked him somewhat. i thought he was funny and liked him back when he was living in the trap house.

but over the years i've lost respect for him. and now i just don't like him and don't care to hear a single thing about him, tbh.

i didn't love when corey had moved out of the trap house and started that shit up when that one clip leaked from an old ass podcast snc did for the membership that was talking about the situation between devyn, elton, amanda (elton's gf at the time) and corey. when he got all uppity about that, and then made the comment of "i'm a real man, i handle shit offline" i thought… what a loser lol bc him literally tweeting that shit out proved he wasn't a "man" in his own terms bc WHY ARE YOU BRINGING IT ONLINE????

the situation that happened between the four of them wasn't even that big of a deal, and as they had all mentioned, they had moved past it. so for him and then devyn to get upset about it, and yet still go over to snc's house the very next day for a party, was kinda lame and really showed they weren't actually upset. they just didn't like how that story made them look.

he was also pissed about ppl continuously bringing up that he had once said he was done with paranormal shit, aka the reason he stopped being in snc's videos. so when he started back up with the paranormal shit with elton, and then was like "when did i say that?"…… that was enough for me to be done with him completely.

then he clearly stated that he moved out bc he wanted to pursue music and dancing again, and then made like four songs and became elton's lap dog. and then stood by that same person thru-out all the shit he threw at snc for dumb, petty bs. so when all that happened, i was done even remotely thinking about him at all. no reunion, no nothing. i didn't want him around snc ever again, truly.

and now, doing this shit of not saying anything about colby and his cancer diagnosis, fuck him. you're lame and a leetch, sucking off of other ppl to get even a crumb of relevancy. and it still ain't working.

an incomplete list of fucked up horror movies i have watched in the last 2 weeks:

1. the baby (1977) - this feels like a fetish film with some melodrama scraped into the corners, but the slowly building horror eventually eats the whole film, & i couldn't look away by the end. incredibly *weird*, & i recommend it with the caveat that it *will* make you wince at least once, either from embarrassment or from... well. it is a Lot. i don't know what about it SPECIFICALLY gave me such intense heebie jeebies, but ye gods did i get 'em.

2. mad god (2021) - this... do not watch this. or like... do, if you have an interest in practical effects, stop motion, & a really strong stomach. it is the singularly most disgusting thing i've ever seen (complimentary), & also one of the most nihilistic, depressing, offputting things i've ever seen (also complimentary... sort of). i was high off my tits when i watched this & also sad as heck, & the ridiculous horrible nature of it all hit this point of *absurdity* - you know not to hope anyone will get out of this in one piece, so if you see something nice/sweet happening, don't even expect it to go anywhere but someplace horrible. first movie to make me physically gag, can still make me do so by thinking of One Particular Bit. 1000/10, will not ever watch again

3. Parents (1989) - kept me up at night, flat out. there's a hyper-real feel to this film, like the beginning of edward scissorhands, or one of those really glossy old commericals. a podcast i was listening to referred to it as "mundane horror" & that's kind of where it lies - a lot of questioning our protagonist, & it can be very hard to tell dream from reality, & everything was done well enough that the Big Reveal actually felt like a Big Reveal. whole movie felt a littel bit like a metaphor for coming to grips with growing up privileged, but idk, i may be overthinking. this movie terrified me, on some deep, visceral level that i can't explain, & i'm gonna be poking that for days.

4. The Night of a Thousand Cats (1972) - still not entirely sure if i hallucinated this one or not. surreal in a way that is surprisingly boring, & i couldn't entirely look away just because... well, i wanted to know what would happen next, or to see if i could make ANY sense of it. not very nice to the cats, tho.

5. Antrum (2018) - this one was really funny to watch as someone who watches a ton of 70s horror, since chunks of it were very clearly trying to be seventies horror, & it didn't make it look shit enough. another one of those weird movies that gets under your skin unexpectedly. the vibes of this one seem to build & build, & the whole thing has a trippy, dreamy atmosphere i super dig. the framing device is kinda dumb, but i am a sucker for a dumb framing device.

i don't think bill and ranboo have done anything to disrespect tubbo or made him uncomfortable either, i don't think he cares about them flirting or whatever. but i think where some tension lies is that as some of his friends have gotten closer to ranboo they've become more distant from him. when tubbo joined vc on bills stream recently it kinda sounded like they don't talk as much as they used to. tubbo even flippantly said something about being insecure that your friends all hate you. it must be frustrating for somebody who was your friend first to suddenly have all these in jokes and meetups with somebody else, probably even worse if it's with somebody who you don't really hang out with anymore ex or not. when has bill made the effort to go and see tubbo recently?

well hopefully the pizza party podcast will turn into something and billzo will go see tubbo soon. i hope you're right about tubbo not caring about billzo and ranboo tho, cause he probably gets bombarded by it whenever he goes on twitter (unless he has ranboo muted, which would be funny). i think you're correct in that billzo hasn't been a great friend lately, but it think tubbo has been busy too so it's a mutual thing, or at least i hope it is. the "all your friends hate you" comment is brutal tho, and i really hope he doesn't feel that way cause ive had that happen to me before and it's a shitty feeling

February Newsletter: Headed To Emerald City Comic Con And Launching A Kickstarter

Hey folks, my biggest thing happening for me this month is I'll be launching a Kickstarter for Murky Water. It will launch Feb 19th, click here to get an email as soon as I hit go. Get ready!

Also I'll be at Emerald City Comic! My booth is 20201. I don't know where that is because Reedpop hasn't put a map up for Emerald City. Honestly, I'm super frustrated with Reedpop. There get worse and worse every year. I don't know what I can do about it. Something has gone wrong with my table there every year. I always gotta make an angry phone call to them. I'm gonna try to work out next year at the show this year.

This month my discord is gonna be watching Dog Soldiers! Join me and some other folks February 24th at 3pm PST to hang out and watch some werewolf nonsense. Join in here!

I have been buried in Seven Seas manga editing this month. Honestly it left me kinda exhausted. But I did more reader question comics. If you got one let me know. (You can also ask them via tumblr ask)

I'm almost done with my videogame art. Now that Seven Seas is gonna be less crazy, I'll get it finished this month. There's just a setting left. Having one less thing off my plate will be a relief.

I'm trying to set up my promo for the Murky Water kickstarter. Honestly, I'm kinda worried about it. I've mentioned before that social media really burns me out faster than anything else. This got linked in a comic discord I'm in and it honestly felt very true to me. And with twitter falling apart it seems to just be getting worse. Kickstarter promo is a lot of work. So I'm hoping I can still get mine over goal. I've also been watching my patreon decrease and I know that is partly because the economy is bad and times are rough for everyone. But it is also because I haven't really had time to push patreon to new people unless it's at con. So fingers crossed. Please back my patreon and buy my book when it's on kickstarter.

One to more positive stuff! Today I reached one of my fitness goals! I did 100 squats in a row! Now I'm gonna work on core strength more. Eventually, I'll be able to do all the One Punch Man work out. I have been liking getting up in the morning and doing it first thing. Kinda good at waking me up.

I was gonna start to do little mini reviews. But Seven Seas basically gave me double the workload in January. So I haven't had time to dig into that. I will probably wait until after my Kickstarter to start doing. Ya know, get videogame work out of the way before adding a new thing.
