These "i JuSt GoT a JuMpScArE fRoM lIn-MaNuEl mIrAnDa" posts aren't funny - they're just tasteless and hateful, first of all. And so damn old. Just admit you're racist and move on. Second of all, as much as I love him, I don't think he'd make a terrible Stark since he can pull him off appearance-wise, but I don't know who he could be in the MCU. I want him to stay away from comic book films and shows anyways, because he is so much better than that shit.
First off all, I am a HUGE Lin Manuel Miranda fan. I know all of the Hamilton songs by heart and listen to his work, Disney and all, frequently. If you don’t trust that, check my Spotify wrapped post. He’s my 3rd top artist.
My joke wasn’t meant to come off as hateful, much less racist. Nothing in that post mentioned race, nor his talent. It was mostly to point out how Disney has been using him and his work a lot recently (Moana, Encanto, DuckTales, Mary Poppins, Percy Jackson, etc - not to mention that Hamilton is now on Disney +) and it wouldn’t be surprising if he joined the MCU.
I’m happy he has these opportunities, trust me, this was meant as a JOKE. If I can’t joke about him as a fan, who can?
I hope this clears up this misunderstanding :)

Darkwing Duck: Up, Up and Awry
Tumblr media
Note: I’m off till friday this week, but since I still want you guys to get your full content, i’m putting up this review from my patreon last year. There’s more juicy exclusives on there if your curious so follow this link if you want more content This review was originally intended for Fenton’s BIrthday.. but i fell behind and with my schedule really behind at the time I simply didn’t have the time to go back and finish it and frankly given how middling the episode was and how i'd missed my whole reason for doing it, I didn't have the drive to. But now I have some spare time since I'm ahead of schedule for a change, I thought i'd go back and quickly finish this one and put it up as my very first PATREON EXCLUSIVE review.. a trend I hope to continue in the future. The episode starts with the usual: a bunch of horses are being magnetically robbed of their horseshoes and no one can figure out why. That old chestnut. Naturally our hero is on the case, hiding with Launchapd inside a horse costume to scope out the local racetrack and wait for whoevers behind this to reveal themselves. This leads to a great bit where the Jockey for our fake horse takes them for a ride... And later things his horse has a split personality when he starts talking.. because Darkwing’s found the culprit: Megavolt! Using a giant blimp and magnet, he’s stealing the horseshoes for reasons that will be revealed later. Darkwing gets up there by holding one of the horseshoes. And boy do I love a job that has me typing sentences like that on an almost daily basis.Naturally Darkwing forgot one flaw in his plan: Megavolt can just turn the magnet off and drop him to his death. Then again given Megs thinks all his electric devices are alive, he might of just been banking on him thinking turning him off would kill him.
But alas he’s not THAT stupid, so Darkwing’s about to Darkwing Drown when who should save him but GIZZZZMOOOODUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK. I do love how hamilton camp shouts the name and hope that’s part of the ducktales version. I do know he’s more peter parker and less superman there, but still it’s fun as hell.Naturally Darkwing isn’t happy, and even less so when Gizmoduck foils Megavolt. Megs still gets away with the loot, but Gizmoduck still saved the day and the horses and is lauded as a hero, even getting a wreath around his neck. Darkwing of course is pissed as he did all the legwork on the case.. but Gizmo still did most of the work while his plan was “hope the villian dosen’t use the off switch”.So yeah about the same setup as last time, as the media is all agog about Gizmoduck and says they can sleep safe now they have a “real superhero” in town. And sometime in the future That being said.. this episode has a much better ballance. You GET why Darkwing is mad, the work he’s done, the media being a dick.. and his daughter wandering in with a gizmoduck t-shirt and happy meal. COLLECT ALL 7 TOYS! Gizmoduck! Gizmogander! Gizmocop! Gizmoduck with a top hat! Gizmoboy! And his mortal enemies Dr. Atmosfear and the almighty Andross! Collect them now supplies are limited!
Where it’s better.. is that Darkwing is more of a Dick while Gizmo is less of one. Darkwing is still combative with Gizmoduck, but despite having some valid motives is still mostly motivated by petty jealousy and Gizmo being FAR more powerful and sucessful than he is, with Giz innocently showing off his toy line and suggesting a team up. Last time Giz was a self righteous ass who I swear if told to eat a dick would go into a rant about how he’d eat an entire beach’s worth of dicks if it was for the good of america. Here he’s like he was in the justice ducks two parter: a noble cornball who dosen’t get Darkwing’s massive ego nor why Darkwing hates him when their both heroes. There’s a charming innocence to him that just wasn’t there in his first appearance on this show. The episode isn't without issues for me.. mostly because of one phrase they keep using again and again: They keep calling Gizmo, including as he saves Darkwing's bridge and arrests Megavolt, once again upstaging him a "Superpowered Superhero". And look it is hard to quantify what makes a superpower a superpower.  I had to realize that after trying to write this review the first time around.  Is there really a diffrence between any of the Green Lanterns, who can make anything they want with a thought, and Superman whose powers he was born with.  The same goes for guys who either built their armor like Iron Man or Steel, or earned it from a friend like Gizmoduck and War Machine. There's really not a whole lot of diffrent. But I do finally get what bugged me so much. The use of superPOWERED. That's the term that while rarely used  for superheroes I realize now really bugged me. That term to me, when used for a superheroes feels like it should be with ones whose power is either inate or attached to them in some way. Like if an alien rock is lodged into your skull that gives you the powers of hostess fruit pies. That's super powered. or if it gave you that ablility by irradiating you with the power of fruit pie, same deal. But if you wielded that, then it's not your power, you yourself are not SUPER POWERED.  You still have them, your still a superhero, the same way anyone using tools or thier own martial arts skills can be, but you yourself do not have super powers on your own without the suit, ring or hostess fruit pie rock. it does nto make anyone like this less of a hero, the Green Lanterns are some of my faviroite super heros period particularly John Stewart, Jessica Cruz and Guy Gardner, aka that guy batman once took down with a punch.
Tumblr media
He also mooned Batman once.
Tumblr media
They have a special relationship.  My points are this.. if neither of these incidents make you wonder who the hell guy gardner is, i'm not doing my job and that Gizmoduck does not, himself have super powers but a super powered suit. Again not downplaying either gizmo as a hero: Fenton, especailly the reboot version, is a hero wholly because of whose piloting the suit and not the suit itself. But.. he can't get up and fly or shoot pies out of his chest on his own and the episode weirdly treats it like that by context. Darkwing tries to get powers via an accident, he has to have dents ironed outof his armorinstead of just getting out of it and doing it, still wearing a mask or something but still, it just WEIRDLY acts like Fenton is part gizmosuit. And it's not like the show dosen't know it's a suit, he gives Darkwing a simpilified one to help him, how he got that without Gyro knowing I dunno. And the sight of darkwing in a flying tin can is throughly amusing. But it just bugs me to have them use FENTON for this narrative alone when they HAVE two people with superpowers who NEVER got a second apperance. You have neptunia and stegmutt right there. You could have them and gizmoduck or the justice ducks as a whole upstage him instead and bam teh episodes fixed. It's not like megavolt can't take on all of them or dosen't have logical strengths against both fenton and neptunia.. and that stegmutt isn't stupid enough to fool. You don't HAVE to use morgana since she has plenty of solo episodes. It just feels like a lazy waste of good charactes and just.. spoiled the episode for me once I realized that was my real problem outside of the phrase Superepowered Superhero just bothring me a tad. The rest of the ep is pretty simple: Gizmowing and Gizmoduck fight Megavolt as he tries to use a super magnet to make more super magnets, god I love this weird rat man, the armor naturally fails and darkwing beats megs with his own power. Job done, episode over. The second half isn't bad but it dosen't give me a lot to talk about, hence why I didn't finish this till now.  The episodes conflict isn't bad but the latter half just turns it abrubtly from being about Gizmoduck being more popular to "I don't have super powers" something that never bothered DW before. The episode had two good premises but it used neither well: either focus on DW being jealous of Gizmo or of him being jealous of his powers. Together it just makes for a lackluster finish to Gizmo's time on the show but a decent enough start to my patreon reviews.  See you at the next rainbow.

Idk if it's because I watched Ducktales before listening to Hamilton, but I don't have much trouble seeing Lin as the characters he plays instead of himself, nor do I think he's a bad actor, and that's all to say I'm excitec and curious to see him as Hermes in Percy Jackson.
