But I think it could have gone a bit further in places. #It has some interesting concepts and a great cast of characters and yay no romance #I do have a lot of thoughts and little critiques... #it's p obvious where the plot is going and what's going to happen #There’s clearly a lot gone into developing this bond system but to be honest I still don’t entirely get it? #It seems to emphasise that the bonds just reflect connections between people rather than predetermine anything; but also the plot kind of #hinges on Remy and Idrian having a predetermined bond? There are a lot of explanations of intricacies but a lot of it didn’t sink in idk #It’s promoted as QP but to me it reads as a general platonic relationship. I generally expect a depiction of a QPR to have like.. #some form of acknowledgement/depiction of the form of their relationship being a particular (undefinable?) kind #with some specific level of commitment? I’m being picky maybe they mean queerplatonic themes/vibes rather than saying it’s a qpr #specifically. the centred platonic relationship is good! it doesn't seem like a qpr to me; at most what could one day be that #also things are solved quite quickly and easily in the end - both the curse and the downfall of the bad guy. #I feared it would go down the route of blaming things on the person in charge rather than emphasising systemic issues which it kinda does…. #It’s impossible to ignore right now just how deeply people are willing to believe dehumanising propaganda - and how 'telling the truth' #and exposing the person in power as bad doesn’t actually do anything so that happening here made me go…… oh okay. well. #there is room for a sequel that maybe will explore this tho. idk #complaints aside - I do recommend this! I think people overestimate how feminist team black is. If someone brings up how Baela should be the heir to Driftmark, it's always "she would've been Queen if not for the Greens!", ignoring that 1, she would be Queen consort, not a Queen in her own right, and 2 she has a legitimate claim in her own right to Driftmark. Team Black's goal is to crown Rhaenyra, but Rhaenyra becoming Queen isn't a win for feminism because it does nothing to dismantle the rest of the patriarchal system that exists in Westeros. From what we've gotten so far, it reads that Rhaenyra wants to be the exception and not the rule. Rhaenyra has made a lot of bad political decisions, which means she can't acknowledge Baela's claim because it would weaken her own claim (blatantly admitting her eldest sons are illegitimate would not end well for her to say the least). So she betrothes Jace and Luke to Baela and Rhaena to kind of atone for that, like as a consolation prize Baela will be Queen and Rhaena will be lady of Driftmark, neither of them would hold either title in their own right. It's good matches because the kids like each other and will treat each other well, but it's not a feminist win or a feministic liberation. It's usurpation, usurpation that takes place because Rhaenyra has to do damage control after having illegitimate children and after a serious of bad political decisions (both hers and her fathers, Viserys is the arbiter of this entire mess). To me, Rhaenyra is very reminiscent of Mary Queen of Scots, I can see a lot of elements drawn from Mary's history in Rhaenyra's story and character, down to their sons eventually taking the crown they failed to claim/keep.

If it was like, after a bit of redemption or whatever, he'd probably slow down a bit, extending the surprised period cause he ain't in a rush to fistfight, but like, again, right into insults and making fun of him for it because bruh that's a whole new arsenal to get under his skin and annoy him, especially if he was hiding it, and you bet Macaque's gonna tackle the heck out of that--GW;ELKFMAEW

I think the harshness of the insults would depend on where they were at in their redemption arc too. ranging from the haircut thing to full out "how's ur student feel about his oh so perfect mentor looking more like a monster than the actual demons?" and stuff like that.

Surprise for Morgana

Morgana sat by the window of the attic, observing what he can outside that can be overlooked from it, the people walking, the buildings, the darkening sky as dusk approaches. It was a good way to pass the time with, though there wasn't anything much he can do with this annoying cat form of his, and with Ren hanging out with Ryuji, he's left to just stay at home.

Morgana huffed, which is his way of sighing in this form. Staying at home is somewhat stuffy although it does give him enough peace and quiet to think more about what to do next for the Phantom Thieves, he may not have all his memories yet, he still has his intuition. And so far it proved to be rather accurate, in fact, currently his intuition is telling him that Ren's new friend is more than meets the eye.

Kaito Kuroba, a new friend that Ren made by walking around in Shibuya. The two hit it off well even by their first meeting so they exchanged numbers. Ren has a way of meeting new people and Kaito seems just as delighted to have met someone new just as well. It was a chance encounter that the two were more than happy with. Morgana was too, it's always nice to see Ren getting along with other people outside of his usual group. Although, there was just something about Kaito that Morgana can't quite put a finger on it— or in his case, a paw.

Kaito met up with them from time to time too, he seems to be good at observing people, is highly skilled with his hands considering the magic tricks he loves to show-off sometimes, he seems to have skills that'll be incredibly useful for the Phantom Thieves. Then again, he's also mischievous, annoying, a pain in the neck, and has Morgana said annoying yet?

Whenever he comes by he would always tease me! He's way worse than Ryuji especially since I can't even talk to him the same way I can talk to the others! He's frustrating to be around with, who said he could be helpful, forget about that, I would rather not be in the same room as that guy!

Morgana's tail flicked about as his thoughts drifted to the many times Kaito messed with him. Just as his annoyance rose, he heard what seemed to be faint sounds of footsteps climbing the stairs. His ears perked at the sound of it, expectant that Ren is back home, he jumped down preparing to greet him.

“Hey Morgana! I got a surprise for you!” Ren's voice called from the stairs.

Morgana tilted his head, confused at what the surprise was, although he also couldn't help feeling a bit excited from Ren's own excitement.

“Geez, you didn't have to get me something! But glad that you're ba—”

Morgana wanted to act cool by seeming to not be interested at all, but his attempt was abruptly stopped by what greeted him next. It was Kaito that appeared from the stairs.

Huh???

He walked past him, confused as to where Ren was, he looked down the stairs, but he was no where to be found.

But I heard his voice…?

Kaito's laugh brought Morgana's attention back to him, he wore a wide grin on his face. “Look at you being so confused! You sounded so excited too!”

No way… Did he… imitated Ren's voice?!

“Well, Renren may not be here but I wasn't lying about having a surprise for you!” Kaito held up a package, one that Morgana knows all too well. After all, it was from the sushi place they once visited. He remembered that the takeout was instead given away, when it was something he had been looking forward to.

Is that…

“There's fatty tuna here too.” Kaito winked at him.

“Fatty tuna!!!" Morgana exclaimed, though it only came off as a loud excited meow towards Kaito.

Kaito laughed, “You're a really smart cat! Come on, you can have a piece while we wait for Renren.”

Well, maybe he wasn't as annoying as Morgana first thought.
