How to do group projects? (If you're selected as the leader of the group)
I hate group projects, it's not necessarily the project rather, the people are not cooperative enough so here's some tips I use when I was chosen to do a PPT and a damn play with 13 members.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Pictures aren't mine!)
Take phone numbers
Even though my teacher discouraged the idea of it, I still took the numbers of all the members and saved it on the same day the project was given even though the deadline was a month later. You should make sure that you have the necessary means of communication to every member.
Plan and outline within 3 days!
Make an outline of what needs to be done, plan out who's going to do what, how they'll do it, when will they complete it etc etc. The reason i do it within 3 days is because you'll get the base of how you'll do it because generally in group projects, by the time everyone completes the work and gives it to you, it would take atleast a week or two, if you start early, you'll complete earlier than everyone else
No group chats!
I personally don't prefer this because one i realised everyone just didn't reply expecting others to reply, especially when your group is big! So... Dms!! Just send the instructions personally, yes, it takes alot of time but it makes up for the energy wasted in group chats that involve unnecessary talks and questions.
Both face to face and text reminders!
When you've assigned work to every member, make sure they actually do it because you'll be the one responsible. Not gonna lie but reminders help especially when the deadlines are closer. Just a message like "Hey, friendly reminder about the XYZ project."
Save your own name!
This is something I'm really careful about. The accusation that you're being biased and assigning easier work to friends and people I'm close with. So, i figured that the best way to avoid it is to write all the work and the names of members in alphabetical order and assign accordingly. If the member can't do it, then I'll discuss and swap. It saves a hell lot of drama and actually results to better outcomes.
Back up
Make sure that there's always a second in command. This was a mistake I did, on the day of the 2nd project (the play), I was in one of the competitions and our teacher had started with our group first... I didn't exactly tell anyone that everything about the characters assigned to members and the narrations were in my bag so they had to scramble alittle but in the end, our group did the best play despite the situation so that's what you're aiming at. Your group needs to manage without you.
Flexibility
Do not, under any circumstances, expect everything to go well! You need to expect hindrances, like gurl, come on. A mistake I made in the PPT project, i made the PPT and told 4-5 people to explain it because that's how it was supposed to be done but in the end, ALL THE 4-5 PEOPLE HAD TO BE IN SPORTS PRACTICE so we ended up changing plans last minute. But nevertheless, we got an A-. Tell everyone to prepare accordingly.
Be a little lenient
Personally, when the teacher asked me to give the list of work everyone had done, i did'nt just write nothing for the members who didn't, i have even the smallest contribution because in the end, even one person's scores matters. It affects the whole damn group so be careful when you take out anger and frustration on the members when giving the list of contributions or even while doing the project. The last thing you need is drama.
Contact!
Make sure your members are comfortable enough to clear any questions or misunderstandings with you. If you don't know what's going in the group, you can't maintain the group. Be very clear that they can reach you any time.
Demo!!!
This is really important! Decide on a day and keep a demonstration of how your project is going to be presented. Do exactly as how you're going to do it infront of the teacher. Exchange some points on how to do better during the demo and discuss! It helps you to correct your mistakes.
Hope this helps! :)

New to the phandom but why do we think sleepless night with phil was a lie?
okay i tried to find a post explaining this bc there Is at least one comprehensive post about this out there but thanks to tumblr's search function sucking i couldn't. so im gonna relay the info from memory for now and if anyone has the post im talking about handy please send it bc im sure it's better than whatever im about to write. anyway. hi anon question answered to the best of my ability under the cut lets go
okay so i'm referring specifically to 'A HUNGRY sleepless night with Phil' rather than the whole series. so the main and original reason this is believed to be fake is this moment:
Tumblr media
phil says it's 1:40 a.m and he's downloading dream daddy for them to play on the gaming channel, but as you can see on his laptop...it started downloading at half past eight in the evening. which. not only does does phil not act like he's been downloading it for this long but rather just started, that would be a LONG long download time.
also, from our position of living in the future, we know for certain that the "bedroom" phil is filming this in is, as was long suspected, a set that he had specifically for filming, like the rest of that apartment. they confirmed it themselves in 'Dan and Phil finally tell the truth'. (i will add that phil has since said he DID sometimes sleep there, and honestly yeah maybe he did, so do with that what you will).
as for WHY he faked the sleepless night, not long before this video was uploaded he posted this series of tweets, known as 'the centipede incident':
Tumblr media Tumblr media
which, as was noted by snoops (and just people with eyes) everywhere that is...not the floor of what at the time we were supposed to believe was phil's bedroom. the floor it DID match was what was known as 'the moon room'. at this point dan had stopped filming videos in his bedroom but he did lives from an otherwise unseen bedroom with a moon decal sometimes.
conclusion: dan and phil share a bedroom
context: dan and phil were not out yet (and would still not reveal that they shared a bedroom today, never mind then)
result: damage control, formally known as "A HUNGRY sleepless night with Phil"

Flaws to Give to Characters II
When I first posted "Flaws to Add to Characters," it gained a lot more popularity than I thought it would! And since you all loved it so much, here's another one!
>>> Selfishness - When one becomes too focused on themselves, they start to ignore those around them who've helped along the way.
>>> Indecisiveness - When one can't make a decision, ultimately, they are stuck and unable to progress.
>>> Self-Centered - Self-centered people are often too consumed with themselves to worry about anything else. Sometimes it's similar to selfishness, and other times it's not. They may be too vain or too busy victimizing themselves to care about others.
>>> Gullibility - A seriously gullible person is easy to trick, manipulate, and hurt.
>>> Skepticality - People that are just too skeptical can be difficult to deal with because they seemingly have to question every action. There's always a motive behind kindness, right..?
>>> Bluntness - Though honesty is the best policy, bluntness is something else. Being too honest can be quite hurtful depending on the situation.
>>> Pushover - Not being able to say "no" when one wants to makes it difficult to be able to advocate for themselves. Additionally, they can get taken advantage of and used.
>>> Easily Offended - This person will absolutely take EVERYTHING personally. Those around them have to be careful about their words, actions, or even behavior because they will look too deep into the most non-meaningful actions. This is usually a result of insecurity.
>>> Overthinking - We all have our moments with this one. Overthinking can often lead to indecisiveness, ensuring that a decision won't be made in the future.
>>> Impulsivity - Sometimes it's better to just think things through. Being too impulsive can lead to unideal situations, events, and outcomes.
Whaddya think? Were these helpful? I'm thinking about continuing these series, but what do you think? (Not gonna lie, these posts help me get my ideas and thoughts in order too.)
Happy writing~

Warnings: Angst, cheater!Lando (I’m so sorry, babes), breaking up
Wordcount: 0.8k
I promised myself I wouldn’t do anymore Danish songs, but I just love this one so much, and I’m also sorry for all the Lando lovers out there 😭🫶
I promise you there will be a part 2, but they don’t get back together or work it out. I’m sorry 🫶
Tumblr media
God, was she bored out of her mind. She wanted to cuddle up beside her boyfriend like never before, but wasn’t here to hold her
As a result to her boredom, she went on Snapchat. She checked the snapmap, like she always do, but something was different this time
He wasn’t at home. He should be, he has nothing planned, not that she knew of anyway. She decided to call Lando, ask him what he was up to
The phone rang for a moment. She thought he wasn’t my gonna pick up, but he finally did after what felt like forever
“Hey, what’s up?” He asked. His voice was different, so was his wording. There was no ‘Hey, babe’ like he normally said picking up the phone
“I just wanted to know what you were doing. I’m bored out of my mind” She chuckled, but she didn’t get one back
”Oh, I’m be just been at home. Sleeping. This jet lag is getting to be” Was he straight up lying to her? She knew he wasn’t home
“Okay” Her voice was low, realising what he had said “Sleep well, love. See you tomorrow?” A sigh was heard from the other end before he spoke
“Of course. See you tomorrow. Bye, love” It was quick as he hung up
She regretted ever calling him. This feeling in her stomach was turning her inside out. Why would he lie to her like that?
The kiss she got from him when he arrived the next morning, wasn’t like it usually was. It was quick, and more like a peck
They were cuddled up on the couch watching a movie, but she always felt like it was wrong, knowing he lied to her and he was going behind her back
As the weeks went by, she kept feeling the love they had for each other faded. They went back to strangers like they once were
Each morning, she would have breakfast ready for him in the kitchen, just like they were used to
Each morning, he would give her a kiss on the cheek, just like they were used to
But those actions that was once filled with love, was now replaced with distance and silent empty promises
She wanted to confront him. She needed to confront him. She couldn’t lay this behind her and keep going with her life like she Disney know anything
They hadn’t been intimate since a few weeks before he lied to her. It pained her, and she was starting to yearn for some intimacy
“Where do you go when go from here?” She asked as she heard the sound of him picking up his keys
Her back was turned towards him, but she could still sense his confused state
“I know you don’t go home when you go from here” She tried keeping her sniffles in and kept the tears from falling down her face
“You sleep in another town for the nights you’re not here” She had now turned around, her front facing him
“Love, what are you talking about?” His words were soft, softer than they had ever been
“Don’t ‘love’ me. I know… I know you’re screwing around, Lando” Her lips trembled, trying to not crash down on the floor
“Just tell me. I just want to know. Who is she? Is she better than me? What does she have that I don’t?” She asked questions too fast for him to answer “Do I know her?” Her finally question was the one he was focused on
“No, you don’t know her” She felt a kind of relief, knowing she would only have to cut off one of her friends, and not two
“Good. That’s a start” She was trying so fucking hard to not let the tears stream down her face “Who is she?”
“Someone I met on the paddock once” The paddock. She could have been there when they met
“Is she better than me?” Fright was locked in his eyes
“No. And you’re not better than her. You’re your own in different ways” She couldn’t help but hear the lie in his voice
“Then why her? What does she have that makes you choose her over me?” She wanted to know. It was the least he could do
“I don’t know” He sighed, and it was the truth this time “It happened once, and then I got addicted. Baby, I’m sorry”
“No. You’ve lost your right to call me ‘baby’. Wasn’t I enough? Why aren’t you addicted to me? Is she better in bed? Is that why? You chose sex over love?” She didn’t let him speak before she spoke up again “Get out. This is my apartment. Get the fuck out” She could feel she was gonna burst any second
He didn’t wanna protest. He hurried out the door, letting her cool off. As soon he shut the door, the tears came streaming down her cheeks
Her knees gave out, making her land hard on the floor, pain shooting gin her knees and legs
Why would he do it?
What’s wrong with me?
Did I do something wrong?
The thoughts rang around in her head for weeks, and she couldn’t stop them

Just Faking It
Hero fixed their hair again; the attire was uncomfortable, but the food tasted good. The jovial spirits of the other customers were found unmatched here in their booth, which felt tense and awkward. At least for Hero, they felt that way.
Villain seemed more relaxed than them.
Nothing was more annoying than being forced to attend a mission as a fake couple. It was humiliating to be seen like this; Hero had better things to do. Although they had to admit, Villain was… well… a little above average in terms of looks. Their personality could draw a crowd; something about having a flare bright enough to cause a disruption in town.
They've been trying to get their attention forever, but it just looked like they were too oblivious. It was always the stunning people with the worst sense of awareness. Sometimes, Villain did come off as selfish, but it wasn't anything Hero didn't expect; with Villain's head so focused on themselves, they should've known it would result in their lack of engagement for others. It's probably the core reason why they weren't interested in them.
They watched as the other right across them flagged down yet another server and insisted they pour their glass of wine again. Villain's face was already beginning to light up with drunken happiness. Personally, they didn't take Villain to be a wine person, yet here they were.
"You gonna eat?" They smiled lopsidedly while gesturing with their cup at their plate.
Hero let out a huff of disapproval and wrapped their arms around themselves. Under Villain's gaze, it was impossible not to feel like they were actively trying to intimidate them.
These clothes were so out of their usual style.
Hero looked around the dim-lit restaurant and tried to focus on the target, sitting just a few booths down. The damn CEO was why Villain and Hero were forced to investigate. Their only downside was Villain's lack of concern for the mission. Instead, they seemed to be distracted by the variety of desserts available.
"Can't you stop indulging and restrain yourself for a minute?" They harshly whispered while keeping track of the target.
"But I am restraining myself." Hero turned briefly to throw a questioning stare only to catch Villain's eyes travelling along their neck.
"Cut it out."
They hummed lowly and pushed the pasta around on their plate. "Whatever you say."
This dragged on too long, and Hero was ready to send the attack immediately. The CEO stood, leaving their damsels cooing as they finally walked toward the bathrooms.
"Now! "They whispered. Hero double-checked that their blade was secured on their hips and slipped out of their seat to discreetly follow the other. Villain coughed slightly as they tried to chug down the remaining wine and join their companion.
The booth the CEO was just in had been filled with all types of escorts hired by Hero's Agency to go undercover for this project. It was amazing how they all agreed, most admitting that the CEO was just another cash cow who loved to throw around their money in the hopes that their plans would come true. Hero opened the curtains and closed them right behind them just as Villain made it in.
"What're you two doing in here? We're not supposed to interact." The woman in the centre was a blonde worker. It wasn't a lie to say that she and her entire team were all equally stunning. It almost left Hero at a loss for words.
"Did you put the poison in?" Hero asked as they looked around the seat and table for the device tagged underneath.
Hero's hand grasped what they were looking for and pulled it out. "A bomb?!" Another woman spoke with her eyes flung open.
The secret worker jolted from her spot and inspected it. "How'd you see that?" It was a small portable device in Hero's hand. But easily recognizable. "The CEO's onto us?"
"Yes."
Villain sat beside the brunette on the red leather seat with an arm wrapped around her. "Relax, we'll handle this."
"I saw them plant it just before they left to go to the bathroom. Luckily, it isn't turned on." Hero pocketed the small device and glanced at Villain, now surrounded by the other workers. They couldn't believe they could be thinking about that at a time so constraining.
"Villain!" They moved over to the other side and glared down at them; Villain was still in high spirits from the rush of alcohol. "We need to go!"
"Just a minute…" They sighed before facing another woman who entertained the advancements, but it had gone beyond them. Hero scowled and moved out of the booth, fuming.
What was Villain thinking anyway? They would finish this project with or without them by the night's end.
The CEO's laughter was caught in the air as several footsteps made their way to the booth.
"Fuck!"
Villain sprang out of the chair and attempted to dash out, but the tall figure of their target blocked the way.
"Oh, hahaha," Hero nervously fidgeted. How could they let themselves get caught like this?
The centre worker stood from their seat and rushed over to the target's side, "These people were just about to leave. They were just asking a few questions."
"Were they?" CEO questioningly looked to the side; next to them were several of their personal bodyguards who stared down at the two. "And what questions were that?"
"About you, of course!" Hero chimed in, "We noticed that someone as powerful as you was attending this same restauraunt, we just wanted to know how we could admire you."
Villain nodded in agreement, "Yeah- there's nothing more profound than a strong figure like yourself here."
It seemed to work, and the blonde worker sighed with relief. The target's eyes lightened up at that, "Well, there's plenty of ways to show your respect for me, although I've never had anyone personally show such interest openly. "
"Well, I guess we should be on our way then. Don't want to waste your time." Villain grabbed Hero as they made their exit. It seemed they would be safe for now, but they've interacted with them; they needed to be more careful.
"Now, just hold on a second."
Hero felt their arm tugged back slightly. They paused in their tracks, and Villain looked behind them. The worker stood confused.
"We've only just met. Why don't we get a little accustomed to each other?"
Hero blinked idly at Villain with a questioning face. It looked like there would be a change of plans, "Well," Hero nervously began, "I would love to; however, you see, I'm already here with someone." They gestured to Villain.
"Please, I'm sure if you really had such great admiration, you wouldn't pass up a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." They laughed as the guards pushed Villain out of the way, and Hero was locked tightly into the CEO's firm grip. From behind, they saw the escorts look at each other skeptically. "A pretty thing like you has better things to do anyways."
Hero faked a laugh, "You're really… too kind."
It infuriated Villain, not because the plans were ruined so quickly but because who did they think they were to take their date!? Who does that?! Villain forcibly pushed the standing guards and spoke louder, "Hey, jerk, that's my date you're stealing!" Their arms were pulled behind them.
The blonde escort placed a hand on Hero's shoulder, "Please, reconsider your decision, we don't have to take this kind guest with us."
They huffed at the escort's words, "Sit down, I'll make the decisions, you're just hired for my entertainment."
They couldn't hear Villain anymore; comforting hands from the escort told them to not look behind them and to follow through. "Of course, sorry for stepping out of line."
They couldn't believe it. Were they really going to end up as some kind of hostage? They knew Sidekick should've followed them in case something like this happened.
Another person in a suit pulled back the curtains, "Your ride has arrived."
"Excellent," They pulled out a cigar, and one of the guards lit it for them, "You'll come with me." Hero was pushed outside and into the cold night. Their eyes still searching for Villain. Hopefully, nothing bad happened with them. This was all so unfamiliar. They still had the dagger attached to their thigh, hidden away. Maybe they could find an opportunity to escape.
A dark car pulled into against the curb. Hero sat on the dark red leather chair, fabricating a contempt expression. They were flexible. They'd come up with something.

Summary: Xdinary Heroes reaction to you being insecure about wearing glasses. (idol/non-idol au)

Tumblr media
photo not mine credits to owner.
Gunil
Gunil notices you squinting a lot. He knows that you have glasses, but you never seem to wear them. One day as he sees you squinting to read a book he decides to ask you about it.
“Wouldn’t it be easier to wear your glasses?” he questioned.
“Oh.” You fidgeted with the book occupying your hands. “I guess it would, but I don’t like wearing them,” you say.
“Why not?” he followed up.
“I feel insecure wearing them,” you murmured into your book, but Gunil still managed to hear you. He comes closer to you and removes the book from your hands, replacing the book with his hands.
“I’m sure you don’t have anything to be insecure about. They’re just glasses. They help you see, so you don’t have to go around squinting.” Gunil playfully mimics your squinting. Resulting in you laughing and smacking him lightly. “Put them on,” he tells you. You feel a bit apprehensive.
“Fine, but don’t make fun of me.” You pointed a finger at him.
“I would never,” he states. You take out your glasses and put them on. Gunil stares at you for a moment and your insecurity starts to get the better of you.
“I knew it. I look weird right.” You go to take your glasses off, but Gunil catches your hands before you could.
“You look adorable! Why have you been hiding this cuteness from me?” He squishes your cheeks together as he cups your face. He presses a kiss to your nose just for good measure.
Jungsu
Jungsu felt disheartened upon hearing that you felt insecure when it came to wearing glasses. He wanted to get to the bottom about why you felt that way.
“What about wearing them makes you insecure?” he gently asked you.
“I just feel like I don’t look good in them. They don’t suit me,” you explained.
“I disagree. I think they would suit you.” he respectfully argued. You shook your head. Jungsu decided to drop the matter for now, not wanting to upset you over something as trivial as glasses.
One day Jungsu came home a bit earlier than expected and caught you in the living room with your glasses on.
“You do look good in them,” he tells you. Again you shook your head, taking off your glasses. Jungsu makes his way over to you.
“Why won’t you listen to me? I told you that you look good in them. Do you think I would lie to you?” he prompts.
“No, but other people in the past told me that I looked weird with them,” you revealed.
“Those people were just being mean. You look good. I promise.” He carefully takes your glasses from your hands and puts them back on your face. “Beautiful,” he declares.
Gaon/Jiseok
Jiseok knew that you opted for wearing contacts over glasses and he didn’t really think much of it. Plenty of people preferred wearing contacts as opposed to glasses. However what he found strange was when you ran out of contacts, but you still refused to wear your glasses.
“Your glasses can’t be that bad can they?” he questioned you.
“They are,” you replied
“Why? What did they do to you?” he asked with a playful tone.
“They make me look ugly. I don’t feel comfortable wearing them.” Your answer makes Jiseok’s playfulness go away. He wasn’t expecting that kind of answer at all. He was just expecting you to say that you simply didn’t like them.
“That can’t be true?” he says.
“It is,” you insist.
“Let me be the judge of that,” he said.
“No,” you shook your head in refusal.
“So you’re just gonna hide wearing your glasses from me forever?” he counted. After a bit more persuading Jiseok got you to put your glasses on. “You’re so wrong. You are nowhere near ugly in them,” he told you.
“Don’t lie,” you say.
“I’m not. You still look as pretty as ever. If not more,” he tells you. “Seriously, how could you think that this face with these glasses is ugly?” He kisses your cheeks. “Not possible.”
O.de/Seungmin
Seungmin came across a photo of you from a couple years ago where you were wearing glasses. He felt a bit confused because he never seen you wear glasses before
“You used to wear glasses?” he asked you, showing you the picture. You quickly became flustered. You didn’t like the way you looked with glasses and you definitely weren’t ready for Seungmin to see how you looked in them.
“No. That must be my twin or something,” you pathetically tried to sell.
“Y/n, we both know this is you. Why do you seem so panicked about it?” he questioned.
“Cause you look how bad I look with glasses. It’s embarrassing. I look like a nerd and I’m using nerd as an insult,” you state.
“You do not look bad,” Seungmin tells you.
“You didn’t say I don’t look like a nerd,” you grumbled. Seungmin laughs and pulls you into his embrace.
“What if I like nerds? What if I think they’re attractive,” he whispered into your ear, making you shutter. “You look good in them. There’s no need to feel embarrassed. You can at least wear them around me if not others.” He pulled away to look at you
“You really think I look good in them?” you checked.
“Absolutely, so wear them around me ok?” You shyly nodded.
Junhan/Hyeongjun
Hyeongjun understands where your insecurity comes from about wearing glasses, but he doesn’t want you to feel that way. He wants to feel comfortable wearing them or at least feel comfortable to wear them around him at the very least. He doesn’t want you to feel like you have to hide wearing your glasses around him.
“Y/n it’s ok to feel insecure, but you know I would never judge you for how you look wearing your glasses. We tend to be our own harshest critics. I’m sure you don’t look as weird as you think you do,” he tells you. You still felt uneasy, but his words did give you enough reassurance for you to wear your glasses the next day.
When Hyeongjun came home to see you wearing your glasses his heart felt a burst of happiness.
“You look cute,” he states as you give him his welcome back hug.
“Are you sure?” you questioned making Hyeongjun chuckle.
“Yes, I’m sure. Glasses can’t cover up your cuteness. If anything they enhance it,” he discloses. It still might take a bit of time before you feel comfortable to leave the house wearing your glasses, but you definitely do feel comfortable wearing them around Hyeongjun and Hyeongjun was very content with that. He does hope that you can build the confidence to wear your glasses out without any uneasiness one day though.
Jooyeon
When he found out that you felt insecure wearing glasses he felt a bit confused. What about wearing glasses could cause such insecurity? He wore and posted pictures in his glasses so freely.
“But y/n, baby, don’t you see the photos I post in my glasses. The glass nor the unflattering angles don’t make me any less handsome. I’m sure there is no way you look awful in glasses. It’s simply not possible,” he says.
“Jooyeon, I honestly envy your ability to not care about what you look like in glasses, but I really don’t like the way they make me look,” you state. Jooyeon sighs and pouts.
“So you will never want to take cute couple glasses photos with me?” he questions.
“Jooyeon,” you sighed.
“Please just for funsies. Think of it like a photobooth, playing dress up,” he begged.
You really don’t know how he got you into your glasses and making funny poses with him as he snapped selfies of the two of you on his own. However with the way your ribs start to hurt from laughing too much you find that you aren’t even thinking about how you look in your glasses.
“See, the glasses don’t make you look weird at all.” He shows you the photos you just took together. “The way you’re sticking out your tongue does,” you add. You smack him in the chest, but you start to think that maybe he was right. You don’t look weird in glasses.

"Listen, I'm just trying to help you." Roderich sighs.
The wound is pulled closer together, and surgical glue is applied to the site. For smaller cuts like this, he figured it wouldn't be necessary to suture them beforehand. Whiskey groans and tenses up.
"Sure you are. This shit hurts, and you want me to believe you're doing me a favor? What's next, you gonna give me some speech about how much you care?"
"Sometimes treatment hurts, but it's better to go through a bit of pain rather than getting an infection isn't it?" He jokes.
Dealing with unruly patients is part of his job he would much rather not have to bother with. Given the opportunity, he would choose to just knock the man out and administer treatment like that.
"And I do care."
"Bullshit. Lie to yourself all you want, that sappy shit won't fly with me."
Roderich rolls his eyes. The needle pierces flesh methodically, pulls both halves together. Whiskey gags. That chain had done quite the damage to the captive's back.
"You care only as much as Baxter wants you to."
"Does it matter? Aren't you still being cared for at the end of the day? Does it really, truly make a single bit of difference when your end result is the same?"
"Just shut up and get this over with."
"Would it kill you to stop being a dick for once?"
Whiskey thinks back to all the times he had been taken advantage of. Times when he should have stood up for himself and didn't. To not preemptively shut people away is to make yourself the easiest target possible for abuse.
"Yea."

I keep rewatching scenes from Hidden Love because I simply can’t get over the drama and if I had to pick a favorite scene, it would be the airport scene in episode 7 when her heart gets completely shattered. Listen the drama is packed is so many cute scenes that I’m totally in love with, but the scene that really, really gets to me is that one.
Can you imagine being in SZ’s shoes? Anxious and antsy all night, she showed up in his city despite knowing the huge trouble it will get her in back at home.. all because she needs to ask him in person if he is really dating someone or was it just a lie? But poor girl didn’t even get to voice her questions because his coworker, whom she mistook as the girlfriend, came along with him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The moment DJX appears at the airport with the lady tagging along with him, SZ’s eyes are on the lady not him. Not her crush whom she hasn’t seen in so many months but the lady. He’s all worried about her safety and mad out of concern for her but all she can think about is “who is she? Is she your girlfriend? You promised me that you would tell me immediately if you got a girlfriend. Why didn’t you keep your promise?”
Notice how she’s not mad at him for dating because she knows deep in her heart that she’s too young for him and he has never seen her as anything more than a friend’s little sister. No, she’s not having any false hopes. Rather, she’s hurt that he didn’t remember the promise he made to her. And as a result, it became apparent that she was no one special to him nor were the times they spent together was of any significance to him. That he was only nice to her because she was in front of him and had it been anyone else, he would’ve behaved the same way. All the while she held on to every memory, every gift like a treasure.
And just because she knew that she never really had a chance with him because of the age difference, doesn’t mean it hurt any less to see him with someone else. She kept hoping against all hopes that she would, eventually, grow up and he would then notice her a woman but she figured he’s already found his “someone better” - someone that’s not her, that will never be her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when she gives him one last sad smile and starts walking away, leaving behind the teddy and pieces of her heart with him, it’s a cinematic masterpiece. She’s walking away and with every step, her mind flashes back to a montage of DJX being kind to her and smiling at her and being full of warmth- all the things that made her fall for him to begin with. And she realizes that those memories, those little smiles of his, those gestures are just gonna forever remain as little treasures in her heart. Even before she leaves the airport, when she wishes him happiness and leaves the teddy with him, we know she’s bidding farewell. She’s mentally getting ready to never see him again. Oh, it’s breaking her heart and so is the audience’s hearts. The montage, the walking away first, the one last turn back, the background music, the fact that it’s at an airport… everything was so perfectly put together.
And finally when her brother comes to pick her up, she starts sobbing in his arms. He’s holding her and trying to comfort her through promises of buying her her favorite food or comic books or even beating the guy up.. all silly stuff thinking it was just an online fling. As if her whole teenage years’ worth of hopes didn’t just crash at her feet. As if her innocent little heart didn’t just break into a million pieces.
Listen I know teenagers are dramatic (gosh I would know, I used to be one) and most of the times, the love/crush they have as a teen is cringe and melodramatic… but sometimes, only sometimes they are capable of honest sincere feelings so when it hurts, it fucking hurts. We might say they’re being dramatic because it’s only their first puppy love but God, that’s exactly why it hurts so much. Because it is their first love. Because they didn’t know any better, they put so much of their mental space and time and hopes and fears into this one person and when it doesn’t work out, it fucking sucks. Yes they will move on, yes they will get over it eventually, yes with time they might even look back at their teen self and cringe. But this moment, the moment your heart breaks for the first time whether you are 17 or 30 or 49, it’s not a moment you will ever forget. This moment becomes a landmark in your heart.

U or Epic should write villain getting sick from a party and throwing up n hero is there to comfort them and it's totally not like I'm asking that bc my parents r going thru the same thing (nZ I'm sick too i think. Def v tired...)
“How are you feeling?” Considering that the villain was still nearly kissing the toilet seat, it was a rather dumb question. However, the hero felt like a simple “better” or “worse” would help them more than stating the obvious. And they knew the villain understood the politeness in the question.
“…’m good…” Obviously nothing new, that. The denial and refusing help others offered. Even if their relationship was less rocky, the villain didn’t accept much from the hero.
“I’d say this is karma but I don’t believe in it.” They handed the villain the glass of water which the villain actually took from them with shaky hands.
“…always get sick when I party…” The villain sipped on the water, slowly and carefully, for the water the hero had handed them five minutes earlier, didn’t stay in their stomach. But now it seemed better. The worst was over and the hero wondered if the villain was actually improving while simultaneously daring to hope that this was the truth.
The hero couldn’t swallow their laugh. “And how you partied…”
Something between amusement and pity conjured inside the hero. The villain could be a real piece of shit, so seeing them like this, white-knuckled clawing on the toilet was a little fun. But mostly, the hero was pitying them. Being hungover and sick wasn’t fun. And after what they’d done yesterday…
They crouched down and pushed the villain’s hair out of their eyes.
“Take it easy. You’ve barely slept.”
“…didn’t do it for you,” the villain clarified. They’d closed their eyes, leaning against the wall. “They played Spice Girls all night.”
That made the hero smirk.
“I don’t see a problem with that.”
“Punched them because the music sucked, alright?” The villain’s glassy eyes went over the hero again and again, as if they were searching for something. “Didn’t do it for you.”
“Sure…” Though the hero didn’t want to, they had to blush as they remembered how uncomfortable they’d been yesterday. Shame had overwhelmed them as the host made an extremely inappropriate comment about their outfit. It had left the hero with a bitter taste on their tongue and a feeling of being dirty. That kind of dirt they couldn’t just scrub off their skin.
And the villain, drunk and uncontrollable, had punched said individual bloody, resulting in both of them being thrown out. A silent walk to the hero’s apartment had followed, alongside with a night full of vomiting and pushing the villain’s hair out of their sight.
“I’m never gonna drink again,” the villain whispered, their eyes still closed. Both knew that was a lie.
“Are we friends?” the hero asked suddenly. Usually, the hero was the one people looked up to. They were the symbol of hope everyone turned to when all was lost. They were a beacon of courage. They were the one who stood up for everyone.
And yet, the hero realised, no one had ever done the same for them until now. No one had ever defended them like the villain had because everyone expected the hero to fight for themselves.
Though the hero was great at fighting for others, they weren’t quite sure if they could even tell a waiter they’d been served the wrong dish.
“I don’t know,” the villain said. They opened their eyes to find the hero’s. “Are we?”
“I don’t want to be friends,” the hero admitted. The villain seemed to have stopped breathing. They were paler and the hero feared it wasn’t just from throwing up all night.
“Well, there’s your answer, I guess.” The villain laughed humourlessly and it was easy to hear how tired they were. Hell, they hadn’t slept one bit. They looked more than a little weary.
“I want to be more than friends,” the hero said. “I want to be more than this. Whatever this is. Whatever we are.”
Now, it was the villain’s turn to (hide their) smile. The villain leaned their head against the wall again and sighed.
“We will destroy each other,” the villain said. “There is no way around it.”
“Then why did you punch them? Playing Spice Girls isn’t a reason.”
The villain looked at them and some kind of sadness filled their eyes. As if their fate was inevitably tragic. Bound to destroy. It seemed like both were too scared to say a word now.
So, the hero sat down beside the villain.
And the villain took their hand.

Okay CoraBug hours where we look at canon, go HAH No, and carry on bc I Do Not See It
Buggy and Cora being absolutely the schmooziest, goofiest couple ever.
Cora and Buggy experimenting with makeup looks together.
They each have an Egg Each, but they have each other's eggs, or they both make two each so one can have the second egg on hand for long distance stints.
Long denden calls and writing letters to each other.
Sengoku having several attacks of just as many varieties because his son is dating a pirate and it's THAT pirate as well and he's So Fucking Angry bc Buggy isn't even all that bad, he HATES it-
Uncle Garp. The shenanigans there. Need I say more?
Shanks telling Buggy about Luffy and it goes "my brother adopted the grandson of my boyfriend's honorary uncle" and you can see the smoke coming from his ears.
Cora and Buggy were childhood sweethearts, and Shanks ABSOLUTELY gave Cora a shovel talk. Roger also gave Cora a shovel talk. Rayleigh played psychological warfare as a test (Cora passed).
They do shows together and their favorites are acrobatics and aerials.
Buggy has forbade Cora from fire stunts, so Cora simply watches Buggy do them and drools respectfully. (In his defense, Buggy is VERY skilled with batons and dragon staffs.)
Devil Fruits have something they need to Feed or things that Feed the fruits. For some, it's foods, some it can be abated with tobacco. Cora uses his cigarettes and Buggy runs on sugar.
Cora is actually a very clean person and prefers unscented soaps, he just has a skill for always looking freshly mugged in an alleyway. Buggy meanwhile is a neat freak who changes up his soaps frequently, but always within a certain brand/maker rotation bc he has sensitive skin.
Drawbacks Of Devil Fruits My Beloved - they're both more lethargic in highly humid weather, or in the rain. Cora's sleepier overall when stuff gets to that point, but Buggy runs a higher risk of getting sick as a result.
Buggy sometimes has Bad Brain Days, be it an episode or he's overstimulated. Regardless, when he needs Space, he'll shimmy under Cora's feathered coat and Cora will cast a bubble for them with just enough muted input to calm Buggy down but not trigger his intrusive thoughts.
Likewise, when Cora is in Cover And Perform Mode, Buggy will gently lead him away and pull the other down to his chest, ear over his heart, and will just... talk. Random, unimportant things like "Oh I heard dinner will be this tonight" or "I've been thinking of getting x, y, z tools for the ring". Just stuff to ground him, she he isn't alone, that things are okay and fine and safe.
They have prank wars. Ritchie always wins. Nobody knows how.
Cora will straight up scruff Buggy like a cat when he gets angry and stabby.
Buggy will climb Cora like a tree when he feels playful.

I Love You (part 2)
Pairing: Choi Seungcheol x Y/N (reader)
Warning: mention of drug, medication and injury.
Happy reading!
Enjoy!✨️

-------------------♡---------------------
You knew you'll never make these two giant to budge even by using all of your little energy.
Looks like I have to start gym again, damn it.
Silent engulfed Wonwoo's car as the car moving foward to the planned venue of the day. Mingyu can't take in the silence anymore and tried to initiate some small talk with you.
"Look, Y/N, we really, really don't want to force you into this, but you've got to restart your love life at some point! Forget about that loser of a hyung and start anew! He's so going to regret ditching you and choos-"
Fuck.
Everybody froze after that TMI Mingyu had let out.
"So you guys did know about this, don't you?"
Silent again.
"And none of you guys, my bestest friends, told me about this." You just stare outside the window blankly, don't know how to feel anymore.
"How long are they?" You asked coldly.
"Umm, Gyu?" Beth passed the bullet to Mingyu as to not interrupt Wonwoo who's giving full concentration to his driving. Or was he drenched with cold sweat too?
"Well, you know, ummm, t-th-they..umm, th-they-" stuttering is one of Mingyu's weaknesses when he's lying or tried to lie, which you knew since forever. You just sigh tiredly, knowing the unspoken truth that Seungcheol and that bitch has been together long enough, maybe even before you start to notice something was off between the two of you.
You are actually not a timid, weeping-about-everything kind of a person. The reason behind your quiteness these pass few weeks is not because you've becoming some broken, love sick school girl because of a breakup. Nu-uh, hell no.
After you cut off the call the other day, well, you DID shed some tears, although it only last for a solid 20 minutes. You suddenly feel some simmering anger starting to ignite within you. Who the hell does he think he is? Breaking up with you through phone call? Are you kidding me? He can do better. Much better because he is Choi Seungcheol for fuck sake. The guy whom you knew will respect you even when he wants to cheat on you. There is no way he's gonna do it by his own will, unless someone asked him to.
The date is cancelled. Worried that it will saddened you even more, they took you to eat your favourite ice-cream and watch some movie instead.
"We're sorry, baby girl. We just want you to be happy! We just love you too much and don't wanna see you sad like this." Beth come to your side and hug you tightly. Wonwoo and Mingyu joined in the hug, squishing the life out of you and Beth.
"We love you, Y/N. Please know that." Its rare to hear Wonwoo to say affectionate words like this, especially when he's being the quiet one in the group.
"I know guys. I love you all very much too. Thank you for thinking about me regardless your busy schedule." You are thankful to have them in your life. Blessed even. After bidding your goodbyes and a few more group hug, you started to retreat to your penthouse silently.
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Seungcheol's spliting headache has been haunting him for weeks now. He tried to brush it off with tabs of painkiller but nothing helped.
After some thorough body examination done by The Choi's private doctor, Dr Kang, the result is finally out.
"Cheol-ah, you might feel offended with my next question but I really need you to be honest with me in order for me to help you." Dr Kang paused for a second. A moment of hesitation from his side, but the question is out looking for an answer nevertheless. "Choi Seungcheol, are you on drugs?" Dr Kang questioned Seungcheol with a worried expression.
"What the fu-, NO hyung, absolutely not! Why would I want that?!" Seungcheol profusely denied the question for he never touch those things and never will be.
"Do you take any new medication or supplement these past few weeks? Other than the painkiller I gave you?" Dr Kang trying to figure out something that can be the answer to Seungcheol's peculiar urine test result.
"No, I only took meds and supplement that you recommended." Uneasiness starting to bubble up in his gut and Dr Kang reveal the test result to Seungcheol and explain it to him thoroughly so that he can access the situation that they are currently in.
"So you're saying that someone might drugged me? And without me knowing? The nerve that these people have." Seungcheol clenched his fist tightly, as he's trying to hold back his anger.
"You see this here? This kind of drug is the one that we discovered after running your urine test and this is not good. Have you felt like in feral for sexual activity lately?" Dr Kang asked and Seungcheol came to realisation and nodded without hesitation.
Hitting the nail on the head, Dr Kang nodded in understandment and explained in details. "This type of drug that you're having is the main reason on why you're behaving as such. It stimulate your sexual desire similar to a cat being given a catnip kinda thing. Usually doctors will prescribe this medicine to their patient who suffered an erectile dysfunction issue and it is really not suitable for a healthy, normal people like you to take as it will make their sexual desire shoot through the roof."
Well that explained the continuous hard on he had lately. He usually will calm down after emptied his balls after 5 round and could even go for more if he wanted to. God, he messed up really bad this time.
After Dr Kang prescribe some medication and remedies to flush down the drug from his system, Seungcheol excuse himself out from the room. He sat down on the sofa outside and spaced out for a moment.
He got a hunch on whose the person responsible to all of this mess might be and they'll gonna get it from him. They will fucking get it, he swear to god. Jessica has been MIA for a week now and that only rises Seungcheol's suspicion towards her even more than ever.
He really didn't realised what is going on around him anymore because he think he's gone bonkers after breaking up with you. He doesn't know why he's cheating on you in the first place, but one thing for sure, he'll automatically act like a rabbit in heat whenever Jessica is around. He'll go nuts for her in a very unhealthy way whenever he smell her alluring perfume wafts around him.
Seungcheol fished out his phone and ring up someone.
"I need you to go through all cctv video footage located mainly at the pantry, my office and around the office, NOW. Checked both visible and hidden camera. Do not let anything escape, you understand me? Ring me if something's fishy. Do it discreetly, understand? Oh, and, find that bitch Jessica and bring her to me in one piece." Seungcheol give the instruction authoritatively and end the call after the person on the other line give their positive affirmation.
I'll find you, Jessica, and I'll make your life a living hell if you're proven guilty.
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
After a long day jumping between meetings, you finally have the chance to sit down peacefully.
*knock knock*
"President Y/L/N, there's a package for you from the mailroom. Do you want to take a look now?" Asked your most trusted secretary, Rebecca, as she's holding a medium size pink paper bag in her hand.
"Yeah, sure. Is there any more meeting for me today?" You asked as your hand are busy untangled the wrapped box.
Rebecca looked down on her tab to view your schedule when suddenly she heard you hissed in pain.
"Ow ow owwww!" You cried in pain as you feel your palm and fingers are burning up. The burning sensation worsen as the effected area started to reddened, similar to a chemical reaction on the skin.
Rebecca dashed to you the second she heard your cry and examinate your hands. She immediately fished out her phone and call your designated driver to prepare your car to go to the hospital for treatment.
You keep on crying on your way to the hospital as the pain is getting worse by the second. Rebecca already called the hospital beforehand for them to directly treat you once you entered the emergency department.
Rebecca just finished processing your hospital discharge when she saw you walking out from the treatment room. She hasten her pace towards you and offered you a bottle of water.
"Have you reported this incident to the police?" You asked while gulping your water.
"Yes, they said they will investigate this thoroughly and will get back to us as soon as they got something." Rebecca is a meticulous person and you like her very much because of it. She doesn't need to be told twice as she got her own professional concise and very passionate with her work.
"Good job, Becca. And thank you for your fast respond. I appreciate it so much." You turned to look at her, feeling grateful.
"It's my job to protect you, President. I'm honoured to be able to do that for you." Her lips bloomed into a beautiful smile and you can't help to smile back at her too.
"Y/N?"
Your smile suddenly turned sour as you've been interrupted by someone that you despised at the moment.

Hi! How did you learn to read Japanese? If I'm not wrong that you do, is the Japanese depiction of the GW characters' personalities different from their Western depictions?
Hey! Learning how to read Japanese is definitely an adventure in and of itself. For me, I had learned how to read and write hiragana and katakana from the Yoshida Institute’s site long before smartphones existed, along with a few kanji. I would use hiragana for my cheat sheets at school. (Yes, I learned a whole different alphabet just to cheat at history and geography instead of simply studying for my exams like a sensible person, even though I realized it was way more effort. I'm not exactly smart.) I started learning kanji properly years later with the kanji learning app Japanese Kanji Study, which I can't recommend enough, then took a brief language course and then accidentally ended up studying Japanese in college for 1.5 years, which is where I learned all my beginner's grammar (みんなの日本語 anyone?) and, as is totally apt for a beginner, hentaigana.
It’s funny when you can't string five sentences together without issue, but can make out Nobunaga's scribbling, something many natives are incapable of. Great, balanced education you thought up there, folks.
At least I got a laugh out of one Ranma ½ episode where Ranma found Kuno’s journal entry and couldn’t read it because of course that doofus would write it in the most archaic manner possible.
Anyway, as far as reading aids go, I’m just gonna plug everything I’ve used over the years for anyone interested. The Firefox extension 10ten reader has been a lifesaver, as has been Jisho. When it comes to comprehension, Google translate is dog crap. I’d recommend Papago, which must have been trained specifically on East Asian languages as the results are much better. Not perfect, but better in my experience. Google translate has long incorporated OCR (image to text) so it may be less useful, but I’m very fond of the no-install Capture2Text which can convert manga speech bubbles to text, provided the scans are clean enough to read the kanji.
For grammar, I stuck to Minna No Nihongo. Bought all the books and slowly work through the lessons now.
The most valuable asset though is having a fluent or native speaker you can ask. Nuance is impossible to grasp if no one explains it to you. Even with vocab, you’ll run into plenty of words with the same meaning. Dictionaries often don’t distinguish in those cases. Having someone you can ask makes learning a lot easier.
Now for the Gundam Wing part of your question.
I’m not exactly sure what you mean by Japanese and Western depictions, or rather who you mean. If we’re talking official sub vs. dub then yes, there are a few differences. Heero isn’t perpetually constipated in the original (he actually has a sense of humor!) and Duo is a lot less flirty than his dub version. But it’s nothing grave. Certainly not Seto Kaiba levels of the dub rewriting his character to make him rant about not believing in destiny every time he opens his mouth.
Or Saber Rider being the leader of the Star Sheriffs. wtf I grew up with a lie D:<
Now, if you’re referring to fandom spaces, I am, without a doubt, the wrongest person to ask as I have never seen what the Japanese Wing fandom is up to and have never really been in touch with what the West is doing either. Have I seen fanfics and do I know 1x2 is the most popular ship? Yes. Have I spent 10 minutes looking at a manga panel, trying to figure out what is going on, only to hit the back button as fast as I could once I did? To the detriment of my poor eyes, yes. But when it comes to fandom differences, I think @muwi-translates could give you a proper answer. I can’t really say much as I’m not involved in the fandom in a way that lets me know such things.
I just sit here in my bubble, talking to myself most of the time.

Hi, @iridescentmirrorsgenshin ! I'm finally putting my thoughts down about your doc, and I didn't anticipate this to come out of it (that's a lie, this is exactly what I predicted). I kinda got stuck on the section of Alhaitham's egoism and ended up with 1.8k words I'm not even sure make sense. I'm not even gonna apologize, this is a lot of fun.
But I wanted to genuinely thank you for ever writing it, it's nice to have all of your thoughts and observations to fall back on to, so I can pick my brain about something that makes me giddy.
This is less about a deeper reading on Alhaitham and Kaveh, or reinterpretation of what you wrote, and more of me going feral and adding what I call "supplemental thoughts". Or maybe it's all of the above, I'm not sure, someone else can be the judge of that.
Anyways.
The conflict between Alhaitham and Kaveh can be surmised at a glance as either: If Egoism is the ideal of living life by one's design and desires not decided by The Collective, then Altruism has to be the ideal where one has no decision about their own life until the lives of The Collective are thriving. Or it can also be: if Altruism is the ideal of living life by helping others live better to not overstep each other’s boundaries, then the Egoist has to turn a blind eye to the need of others and their passive life is contributing to everyone’s misery.
At least that is how it's usually pitted against each other from the perceived (and in many cases valid) opposition of ways of thinking. The Individual vs The Collective is an interesting way to divide people's needs after all.
Altruism in Kaveh’s case comes with a lot of baggage for him personally.
Financially, he got ruined and that struggle was an uphill battle ever since; we could even see it as a Sisyphus moment, where he pushes through his debt for financial freedom (trying to reach his own egoism), only to willingly jump down the hill to help others, ruining all his progress, and usually hurting himself in the process (even if that hurt is more on the psyche than physically).
Emotionally, it also can be complicated - he doesn't fear showing feelings, if it's in the scope of being loud or excited or openly frustrated; he blasts it all with no reserve, no shame. But he doesn't get angry, or sad, or upset. The only times anyone sees that side of him is if he's drinking, or he's too tired, or you're Alhaitham. He sees his own emotions as a heavy burden, and he doesn't want to share that weight, because of the bias that it's him. He can be miserable, because he can bear it just fine. But if someone else should do that with themselves, then that's a problem, and he has the need to help, because he knows how miserable it feels to deal with it alone. A self-imposed punishment.
But what is often times overlooked, is that Altruism in the end is a choice. People choose to do good, even on the expense of their own luxury, because of their own perceived morality and want to help.
Everyone has different reasons for being altruistic - some hate harm and cruelty in general, so they actively try to battle it, so it's not around them anymore; some lived through bad situations and want to save or help heal someone else going through it; some can see it as a self-esteem boost, because they got the skills and means to do good, so they have to be good too. It's not a cut-and-dry, one-size-fits-all type of ideal.
And yet, even if it's meant to be a positive outlook on life, a lifelong project to make the world better, if not for oneself, then someone else, it can be used as a self-harming action that would be frowned upon if someone tries to stop it.
"This person is in need, and you want me to stop? Are you really so cruel and selfish?" is a common enough excuse to push anyone questioning a person's negative altruism from ever trying to stick their nose into their method again, because The Collective usually only sees the deed and the positive result of the person helped, and not the detriment the helper acquired through their stunt. It's a very effective self-punishment if anything, especially if the person harbors so much resentment and guilt for themselves that they want to repent for their subjective sins and be absolved of the negativity (and yet, if someone has those thoughts and feelings for long enough, there is a hope in them that they never get absolved and can be punished forever, because that brings a different side of relief).
And we can easily assume that Kaveh, even with all good genuine intentions, uses his ideal for his detriment on purpose; well, maybe not 100% consciously and deliberately, but he could seek the emotional drop that his altruism gives him on a subconscious level. The fall is just as exhilarating as a high, the adrenaline will be the same in the end. It’s the aftermath that differs, and by then it’s too late to back out.
Alhaitham having the awareness that Altruism is not inherently bad just makes this discussion more tense. We can see he thinks helping people is the right thing. He doesn't have anything against the ideal itself, but he is now aware of the negative way the ideal can be practiced then when he was a student, never seeing the darker possibility.
Now he lives with somebody he cares about, and they don't care about themselves, actively chasing hurt and then refuse help they preach about and give out to others themselves. It's exhausting; it's terrifying; it's heartbreaking. And he did try to talk about it before, he tried to make Kaveh see the true nature of his Altruism. And how did it end? With a torn project paper, a name taken off on said project, long silence stretching over years, and now a rocky coexistence that has so much to talk things over, but pride and hurt doesn't allow it. Of course he would be harsh and critique it on every single turn he gets.
Alhaitham's individualism is something that always makes me pause from a writing standpoint.
Meanwhile he does a good job at following the key principles of it - he has his own house, his cushy job with a set time, his reading and own way of thinking. All of that makes him self-sufficient. He chose these things. He made them essential parts of his comfort and needs, and he refuses to compromise on their existence and their specific boundaries.
He doesn't want to be the Grand Sage, the position of Scribe fits perfectly withing the scope of the energy he is willing to spend. He doesn't need a bigger house, or lots of popular aesthetics, because he doesn't need that to feel comfortable. He doesn't waste time yapping about nothing with people he doesn't care about, he rather uses that time reading or talking to people he likes and values.
All of that is…almost perfect. It’s hard to pick it apart like Kaveh’s Altruism, because it’s almost as if we’re past Alhaitham’s realization and change for the better. There are things to pick on about how he does things, I suppose, but that is less to do with his ideals and more with how he acts, it stops being a narrative problem and more of a thing to nitpick at a personal taste.
About the misunderstanding about egoism and narcissism: From my observation, Egoism is commonly associated with Narcissism, mostly through the misconception about self-importance, and the limits between acting in self-benefit and in harming others.
Meanwhile individualistic ideals prefer to focus on the person themselves (their needs, their fulfillment not depending on someone else, their agency, their freedom of choice), it gets lumped into Narcissism, solely because that person thinks about themselves first.
Except people love to ignore that Narcissism is putting oneself above the rest and disregarding the needs and wellbeing of others, Egoism is more about someone taking care of themselves to the point where they are in a shape they could use for better things (e.g. if someone struggles with mental health, bringing them into a straining situation because it benefits others is foolish, as the person can break down, can be harmed, and then the situation and the people involved have more problems on their hands than before; but if the person focuses on getting better first, then they could go into the same straining situation, but coming out fine, because they have the capacity to endure it).
But even if Egoism can be a good ideal to follow, its negative practice can be a very ironic situation. If the individual is trying to pursue Egoism because they "wanna stick it to the man" and do all of that to go against the grain for the sake of going the opposite way, they lose their individualism and choice to have a life according to their beliefs and not The Collective. They still let the society dictate their life, but if they don't know yet how to exist for themselves, they believe crossing the road to walk the opposite direction of everyone else somehow sets them apart from the rest, and gives them full autonomy. It's almost a desperate placebo to not feel helpless and dependent. It also makes the understanding of choice an absolute mess, because they don't know what choice is and how it can look.
So when Egoism and Altruism are pitted against each other, it's just the choice to help the self against the choice to help someone else. Make others feel better by making their own life better / make oneself feel better by making the life of another better. Two sides of the same coin, really.
It's a mirror image. Mirrors don't show absolute opposites, it's the same object, but it can be from a different angle, a different medium, a different feeling. The mirror can be the surface of a still lake, the reflection in a tinted window, even a shadow in a sense is a reflection of something.
Alhaitham seems to be way ahead of knowing that both him and Kaveh aren’t a hundred percent right in how their ideals work right now. Both could use some improvements, rearrangements, reconsiderations, moving boundaries around for a more fulfilling answer that actually works and is not dictated what their teen selves tried to set into stone.
We can see it in how Alhaitham navigates the situation with Kaveh - how he prods at him; dances around topics and fights; how he pushes and pulls and jabs and waits for reactions to note down for future use and consideration. And when he oversteps, he backs away, creates distance, ceases his teasing, because he knows better. That is his go at altruism, putting his own comfort to the side to help another (even if it’s through an egoist lens).
And honestly? Kaveh might also know both of their ideals aren’t fine tuned yet either. He lives through the consequences of his own actions he orchestrated. If anybody knows the flaws of his ideals, it’s him first and foremost. But there are more blocks and obstacles in his way of becoming better, of tuning it to an actually usable means of living. And he knows that to actively pursue his ideals, he needs to learn how to reach his own individualism so he can be strong enough to be altruistic (so really, his egoism is still through the lens of altruism).
Both of them struggle with their pride - a scholar’s fatal flaw - and their joined character arc pretty much heads to them learning through each other to set it aside and embrace the reflection of their own ideal to actually make it a reality in a way that is worth striving for.

bono!reader thots
all excerpts from rupi kaur’s home body
“i want someone who is  inspired by my brilliance  not threatened by it”
in a dimly lit room after a long day's work. bon layed stretched out on her bed where she lies her head every night, staring at the ceiling lamenting a relationship she knew was never going to last. lamenting how she couldn’t be enough for him. lamenting the time she devoted to making it “work”. lamenting how she changed herself for him.
“make it a point  to love yourself as fiercely as you do other people -commitment”
her people love her for who and how she is already, so why would it be a crime for her to do the same?
“i am trusting the uncertainty  and believing i will  end up somewhere right and good”
the last time she was in a relationship she was burned so badly she never thought she could do it again. because when that ended it felt like the world, her world, ended. and putting trust in mick not to do that with her was tough but ultimately she decided it was worth doing so. and she could not be more happy with the results of said trust.
“i was trying to make him the one  and it took me three years to realize  love doesn’t work like that”
she just wanted to be loved. to be chosen. to be cared for. by someone who wasn’t “obligated” to be in her life. but wanting to be loved and loving is not the same thing.
“i don't know what to do with a man who wants to hold onto me  for the rest of our lives”
she got everything she wanted and more when she started dating mick. but coming off that toxic relationship left a lot of insecurities in her. insecurities that took longer to shake off than she would like to admit. and he couldn't have been more distant towards her whilst mick held onto her like his life depended on it. like he could die tomorrow and the only thing that would matter would be her. it was just different and took some time to get used to.
“the love of a family  friends and community is just as potent  as the love of a romantic relationship”
god the love her people hold for her. her people being the majority of the village the world calls f1. how they would lay down their lives for her, similar to her partner. but their devotion is different. their devotion comes from helping in raising her through her adolescence, and mick’s devotion comes from who she grew to be as an adult and the ways she continues to grow and change throughout her life. there is overlap but it all boils down to love.
“nothing can replace  how the women in my life  make me feel”
both positive and negative. her mom leaving and the hurt that caused probably will never go away. but the love she gets from the women in the paddock but susie especially makes up for that fact in more ways than one.
“the power of knowing your worth is  you can never run out of reasons to love yourself”
she loves who she is. it took work and courage to get to this point, but she did it. and she’s a better person because of it. and yeah that’s great for her own well being but as well as the little humans she brought into this world. that she can be a good influence and role model for them that her father was for her and how michael and corinna were for mick and gina. that she can instill confidence in her babies and make them feel oh so loved. loved to the point that they don't have to question it, they just know it.
[not gonna lie i almost cried while putting this together]
I love rupi! <3<3 this is just so wholesome and on point aaaa
I think Bon has a small journal where she writes about her feelings every once in a while, not like a diary, but rather a journal, small sentences that came to her head when she was with mick along with the tickets to their first weather date as friends

@db-1986
Primarily, your claim is that it was evil of God to place the tree into the garden, it was evil of him to impose consequences, and that he lied about said consequences. I will be disregarding the question of whether God can do evil things, or lie.
I’m gonna talk about free will for a minute. Free will is the ability to choose good. There is no choice if there is only one option. Therefore, in order that a being possessing free will be capable of freely choosing good, they must also be capable of rejecting good. Hence, evil, which is simply a lack of good. Free will is a necessary characteristic of a rational being, to choose order or disorder and to know it is free will.
God creates humans capable of love, which necessitates being capable of good (because love is to will the good of another) which therefore necessitates free will. The tree is necessary for free will, or some other way of rejecting God instead of loving him. Is it evil to reject God? Sure, but it’s good to have choice, because without it, there is no love. The tree is an option, and way of expressing free will. God placed the tree in the garden to facilitate free will in order that man might be able to choose him rather than be irrational. God gives us a choice. It’s not evil for him to do so, because free will is good. Would an all-knowing God have known what Adam and Eve were going to do? Yes, but this does not mean that he made them do it.
Onto whether or not the consequences suited the crime. It must be noted that God did inform them of what would happen if they did reject him. Philosophically speaking, God is life. To reject life is to die. But God does not exterminate humanity upon this first slight, but rather gives them the chance to choose him at a different time. This ‘lie’ is both true in the sense that Adam and Eve reject life and that they begin to die on that day. And, even if it was a lie, wouldn’t it be merciful to not make good on a promise to kill someone?
Humans are not little better than animals simply because they choose evil rather than good in the garden. God did not take away their free will or rational mind. Human nature is wounded, not broken beyond all repair.
The explanation given by Aquinas in regards to the tree of life is that the fruit of the tree of life is to death what food is to starvation, a means of staving off death. Aquinas also argues that man’s connection to their efficient cause (God) preserves bodily integrity until life or death is chosen. Neither of these arguments are totally satisfactory to me, but they are at least somewhat convincing.
“Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever”” God does not say they will become gods. When God says like us, he means humanity’s sin of pride and covetousness resulting in their own self-governance and disconnect from him. Self-ruling comes about on account of rejection of authority, for better or for worse.
Admittedly, I have not gotten around to reading the entire Bible, so I cannot comment on God’s other actions. I understand this is ignorant and frustrating, and I’m working on it.
Polytheism ignores the fundamental order of our reality. God says us because there are multiple persons in the trinity.
Anyways sorry for previous stupidity in regards to knowing scripture i was going off memory lol and i should know at this point to not do that

abhorrent experience 30 november
i'm taking a journalism class for fun (idc about my grade because i'm never gonna use my transcript) and, uh, today was literally awful
kickin' things off with my professor telling me that an AI could easily do my job and totally interrupting me when i begin to explain that this is in fact not the case since people tried to replace me with AI last year and came crawling back to me the second they realised the AI sucked ass
the professor going on a tirade about how AI is the future of academia and she believes in preparing "us" (me, age 27, and a bunch of college freshmen and sophomores) for the real world
and how, as a result of that, she will be feeding information from our final projects into an AI
me: "can i opt out of you using my writing to train AI"
professor: "uh uh i won't be training it, i'll be experimenting with it to learn how the AI can improve writing and see whether the AI can do it better than you"
me, not wanting to fight my professor in front of the whole fucking class, resolving not to do the project because i refuse to help AI: lol kay
and then it gets worse
one girl is doing her final report on body cams for cops, so she went to the chief of police to ask for a statement. he gave one, and she asked if she could talk to patrolling officers - he said only if she went through "a lot of people" (not telling her who those people were), and the girl took a hint and didnt pester him
anyway the professor begins to tell the girl that she needs to interview the patrolling officers despite what the chief told her and starts insisting that she lie to the cops and say that the chief sent her to them and said it was okay
the girl : "you want me to lie to the cops?"
the professor starts gaslighting her into thinking that she didn't (i promise i am not someone who uses the word gaslight lightly)
i interject because i'm not going to let her gaslight this teenager, "yeah you told her to lie to the cops"
this leads to a 20ish minute altercation between the professor and the 10ish students in the class where we all rally behind the girl and say she shouldn't be required to lie to the cops to pass the class
after all cops are notoriously nice to random people who ask too many questions, right?
anyhoo she then starts going on about how she has tenure and can go back in the system and fail people with inadequate sources, and pretends this is a different conversation, but it's not
then finally the altercation ends and she shows us this powerpoint and starts talking about (it was relevant) this one girl who hated her in the past
she's like "she probably hated me because i called her the wrong name all the time, but idk, people hate me for lots of reasons"
the girl she tried to gaslight burst out laughing
oh my god it was a mess
i'm really hurt that the professor thinks i could be replaced with an AI because, like, not to be haughty, but i'm a good writer! i am damn talented and know it! i'm better than an AI!
also i really fucking hope this girl goes to a higher-up because she uh. should not need to lie to cops to get a passing grade in her college course
