Writing prompt 68.5 (thank you brain):
As the world around them grows older, Gotham and Amity Park become younger. Bound to the same state for years to come.
Bruce notices this as Barry struggles to keep up with the others over a decade. The billionaire's face still in the low 40's under the mask.
Only greying from his children.
The heroes of the world move to the two cities over time as they notice this effect. Gaining back their youth that helps them to continue saving lives.
The suddenly influx of new residents does not bother the pre existing residents. Knowing why someone would move there.
The effects of these two states not shouted to the heavens so the housing can keep up with the population.

I messed up my prompt, I left some out so I’m going to awkwardly regroup it.
Au where Wen Zhuiliu is Meng yao’s dad instead of JG. Meng Yao is raised in the wen sect, as his son also the idea of the golden-core-snatcher thing being hereditary or not would be fun to explore. It’s be the ultimate dagger-up-the-sleeve move. Meng Yao joins Wen Qing and Ning to study at the Lans sect.

"Question," Lao Nie said, and Wen Ruohan tried not to groan - the other man had a tone that suggested trouble. "Do you remember that time in Yunping when that Jin bastard was so drunk that he couldn't find the brothel stairs?"
"Why do you care?" Wen Ruohan grumbled. He just wanted to sleep - Lao Nie was one of those irritating people that got more energy after sex rather than falling asleep like any normal man. Freak. A freak who wouldn’t stop poking him, and not with anything fun, either. "Fine, fine, yes, I remember. What about it?"
"Didn't you order that new retainer of yours to go upstairs and fuck that prostitute for him? Saying something like 'it's a waste not to get the value even if he can't'?"
That sounded suspiciously like the sort of spiteful mean-hearted joke Wen Ruohan might make while drunk, yes.
"What about it?" he asked.
"She got pregnant."
Wen Ruohan blinked.
"Now, she's saying it's Guangshan's, of course,” Lao Nie said. “They all do when they don’t realize how much of a miser he really is under all that gold. But if there's a chance...it was that Zhao Zhuliu fellow, wasn't it? The one with the core-melting hand?"
"Wen Zhuliu," Wen Ruohan corrected. "And yes. I think he was too new to realize I wasn’t actually serious...hm. You think the child may have inherited his talent?"
"Why not? Especially if you start teaching him early..."
What an interesting proposition.
"So…” Lao Nie scooted closer. Somehow. There was not enough room on this bed. “Can I have this one?"
"What? Absolutely not."
"But you already have the father!"
"And that means the son is mine as well. Get lost!"
"But -"
"Keep your grubby hands to yourself,” Wen Ruohan scowled. “All good things belong to me, least of all talents that I've put in time and effort to raise."
"Spoilsport,” Lao Nie said, though he didn’t look especially put out by the refusal. “Anyway, what if I were to put my 'grubby hands' here..."
“Get lost!”
-
"Sect Leader."
"Get lost," Wen Ruohan growled, not even bothering to turn to look at whoever it was that had entered. When he didn't hear the pitter-patter of fleeing feet, he added: "Or else I'm going to kill you."
It wasn’t a threat. It was a statement of fact, and a sincerely meant warning.
Wen Ruohan might have a temper and be inclined towards sadism, but he valued talent. Anyone with access to his study was a talent he had cultivated with great effort, and it would be such a pain to undo all of that by murdering them himself.
Which was not to say he wouldn't, if his mood were bad enough, just that he'd make the effort to warn them away first. If they still didn't listen, that was their problem, and presumably a sign that they didn't really have as much talent or brains as he'd initially thought.
"Sect Leader, I have some news for you."
Wen Ruohan restrained the urge to throw something - did he seem like he was in the mood to receive news, either positive or negative? - but only because the longer speech had revealed the identity of the servant that had intruded: it was little A-Yao, Wen Zhuliu's boy.
He was being uncharacteristically stupid in stubbornly insisting on approaching Wen Ruohan now, which was most unlike his usually gentle and cautious character, but he was also ten years old - some stupidity was to be expected. Didn't adolescence start around then or something....? Or whatever it was that rotted teenage boys’ brains the way it obviously had his sons’?
Wen Ruohan pinched his brow and exhaled hard, struggling to manage his temper. He had not yet descended to the level of squabbling with children.
"What," he forced out through gritted teeth, "is it?"
"Nie-gongzi wrote that he'd like to come visit," Wen Yao said, which was both exactly the type of "news" a child might be expected to think was earth-shatteringly important and which made Wen Ruohan nearly see red at how stupidly inane it was - and all the more because it included that accursed surname Nie. "He says his father is being intolerable."
Well, Wen Ruohan could scarcely argue with that.
After all, wasn't that why he himself was so angry at this precise moment? Lao Nie's cavalier behavior, his indifference, his disdain...
Wen Ruohan frowned, suddenly distracted from his anger.
"Did you say Nie Mingjue was complaining?" he asked. "Nie-gongzi, not Nie-er-gongzi? Not Nie Huaisang, the littler one?"
Nie Huaisang complained about everything, being six, but loud with it. But Nie Mingjue?
Nie Mingjue was fourteen and fundamentally a good boy, with none of the typical self-absorption and moodiness of adolescence. For him to complain about another person, least of all his father, and to someone in another sect, no less, even if that someone was just a friend he'd made during his father's visits to the Nightless City or Wen Ruohan’s own to the Unclean Realm...that was out of character.
That was practically a cry for help, really. It suggested something might be genuinely wrong.
Something wrong with the Nie sect leader –
Wen Ruohan’s anger, entirely caused by the particularly aggravating behavior of Lao Nie, abruptly cooled so fast that it felt as though his entire body had fallen into an icy river.
After all, who didn't know about the Nie sect's famous inclination towards qi deviations...?
"Yes, sect leader," Wen Yao said, blinking up at him. "The older Nie-gongzi. He seemed very distressed. Should I write him back and ask about particulars?"
"No need," Wen Ruohan said, making a snap decision. "I'm going to go pay a personal visit to the Unclean Realm right now. I'll settle the details myself when I get there."
He swept out the door, tossing a "Get someone to clean this mess up, will you?" over his shoulder as he did.
-
It turned out the letter from Nie Mingjue was a fabrication, but after patching things up with Lao Nie, Wen Ruohan was in a good enough mood to forgive Wen Yao for his little schemes.
-
"How attached are you to Wen Yao?"
Wen Ruohan blinked, then stared incredulously at Lan Qiren, who was probably the last person he'd expect to try to poach talent away from him. It was Lan Qiren, after all, boring old-before-his-time teacher that he was.
Lan Qiren grimaced at him, which was an unusual posture with which to start such negotiations. Normally someone trying to steal someone away, much less someone actually surnamed Wen, servant or not, would put on a flattering expression and try to butter him up first. Lan Qiren’s disgruntled expression was completely out of place. After all, people didn't try to steal other people's servants involuntarily...
Unless.
"Wait, you're saying Mingjue's little scheme worked?" he blurted out, and Lan Qiren’s scowl worsened. "It did? Absurd. I don't believe it."
Nie Mingjue had only been talking for the last two or three years about how he had to introduce his two good friends, Wen Yao and Lan Xichen, and how well he was sure they would get along. Up until now, Wen Yao had been politely putting him off, mostly because of some ridiculous self-image issues - so what if he was a servant's son or born of a prostitute, he had the Wen surname, and that alone made him nobler by far than any of the smaller sect's true-born children, perfectly capable of speaking on equal terms with the heir of a different Great Sect, and really, Wen Ruohan needed to encourage the boy to pick up more of the arrogance that was now his right - but with Wen Ruohan sending him, Wen Chao and Wen Ning to the Cloud Recesses for lessons with Lan Qiren as a favor to Lao Nie, he presumably wouldn't have been able to avoid meeting Lan Xichen any longer.
Apparently, it had gone even better than Nie Mingjue had predicted, if Lan Qiren was already here to feel Wen Ruohan out about a potential marriage agreement.
Unless that had been what Nie Mingjue meant all along - Wen Ruohan wouldn't put it past Lao Nie's son.
He wouldn’t put anything past that family of rascals.
"Believe it or not, as you wish, but that doesn't change the reality of it," Lan Qiren said, sounding grumpy, and for the first time Wen Ruohan realized that the other man - who he normally avoided out of residual dislike of teachers, and perhaps some jealousy of Lao Nie having friends other than him - was completely unafraid of him. How interesting. "I assume you'll want to extract everything you can over this and naturally you have me over a barrel, so I thought it better to finish it quickly so that you wouldn't have time to think of any more outrageous demands."
How delightfully blunt. Had Wen Ruohan missed something here, seeing Lan Qiren only in his role as acting sect leader? He'd assumed that the overly-cautious pedant was all there was to the man, Lao Nie's unfathomable appreciation for him aside, but perhaps Lan Qiren was one of those rare people who was genuinely different in a different milieu.
Perhaps Lao Nie might even be right about him, which, knowing that man's proclivities, would mean that this seemingly innocuous man was actually dangerous in some fashion.
Interesting indeed.
"What's the rush?" Wen Ruohan asked, and suppressed a grin at Lan Qiren’s audible huff of exasperation. "This is their life we're talking about, after all. We should treat it seriously."
It was said that Lan loved only once in a lifetime, and irrevocably - if that were true, Wen Ruohan really did Lan Qiren over a barrel, as the other man had so forthrightly admitted. Given Lan Qiren’s obvious adoration of his nephews and Lan Xichen's role as sect heir, even sect leader presumptive given his father's seclusion, Wen Ruohan was in a position to make considerable demands.
Studying the man in front of him with curiosity, he wondered idly if he could even go so far as to obtain a person of the previous generation. A teacher renowned throughout the cultivation world had to have considerable talent, and, well, Wen Ruohan had always appreciated talent...

The Avatar’s Hobby
Avatar Aang was widely considered the greatest Avatar in the past millennia. At just twelve years old he prevented the genocide of his people, stymied all out war between the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation, and somehow stripped the Fire Lord behind these attempted atrocities of his bending. He did not remove Sozin’s family from power, despite the corruption. He watched them carefully. He had a solid grasp of all of the elements before even meeting his teachers. Aang was dedicated to peace and the sanctity of life. There was just one eccentricity that gave people pause…
The matchmaking.
Admittedly, it took years for anyone to notice but over the decades it became clear that Avatar Aang was pushing certain couples together. Most notably in the Fire Nation, when he introduced Crown Prince Azulon to his future wife, Ilah; but it was happening all over the world. He helped a woman escape the Northern Water Tribe to the South and attended her wedding after insistently guiding her to a particular Tribe with a specific young man who stammered and blushed and happily yielded to her in every matter. He supplemented a young Earth Kingdom merchant’s income so he could buy a marriage to a noblewoman. He helped a pair of peasants elope. He encouraged romance between specific members of the Northern Water Tribe’s most respected families.
He happily, sometimes desperately, meddled with seemingly random families all over the world. It was strange, but it was just a quirk. If he wanted to matchmake between preserving world peace and protecting humanity from the Spirit World, it wasn’t like it was hurting anyone.
Crown Prince Iroh reconsidered this widely held belief when the Avatar quite insistently arranged a marriage between his younger brother and Lady Ursa, granddaughter of the previous Avatar, Roku. Iroh and Aang had always gotten along. Aang, already an old man at his birth, had taught him Pai Sho and taken him on trips around the world. He was almost like his uncle. While the kind old Avatar had tried to treat Ozai the same way, Iroh had always sensed profound wariness in the Avatar when dealing with his younger brother, a wariness he tried to mask with his usual cheer and jokes. So why was Avatar Aang so determined to ensure that Ozai would marry Lady Ursa?
A similar issue was plaguing Hakoda of the Southern Water Tribe. No matter who he brought home, Avatar Aang seemed to disapprove. It was like his honorary uncle was looking for someone specific. If Aang had tried to push the young man to break up with someone Hakoda never would have acquiesced. But the old man just stared at him with his girlfriend so mournfully, as if he was going to begin sobbing, that Hakoda would eventually end the relationship.
The relief on the Avatar’s face always made him feel like he’d done the right thing.
The day that he introduced Aang to Kya and saw his face light up was the day Hakoda knew that he’d found the one. He’d found the woman that he was going to marry.
In the Earth Kingdom an assorted handful of merchants and nobles accepted the Avatar’s betrothal suggestions. It was good business to be favored by the Avatar.
Avatar Aang arrived the night before Lady Ursa went into labor. The old man was apparently more frantic than the rest of the family. Iroh made a dozen pots of tea in an attempt to calm the old airbender.
When an attendant emerged from the room Aang was the first on his feet. “Is he alright?” He demanded sharply. Iroh blinked and wondered how he knew the baby was a boy.
“Yes, he is. Quite healthy for a child born so close to midnight.” The woman answered, holding the new nobleborn at a professional distance from her. Aang stepped forward, and before any other member of the family had a chance, he took the baby into his arms. Iroh raised an eyebrow and exchanged a glace with his father. Both Fire Lord and Prince decided to say nothing of this curious breach of conduct and courtesy.
Aang trembled, clutching the tiny newborn blinking up at him with two whole golden eyes. “You’re here.” He whispered. “You’re really here…” The baby fussed as tears fell on his head. “I missed you so much, Zuko.”
The Avatar greeted the Princess of the Northern Water Tribe as well, directing her parents to the sacred oasis when she was born too early and without a sound. He even plead with the Moon Spirit himself to aid the child. The Princess woke with hair like the moon and a grateful Avatar gathering her into his arms.
Avatar Aang was seen mourning on Kyoshi Island. He went to the home of every new or expecting family before he donned the colors of grief and left the island teary eyed. Saying only that he’d lost her.
Avatar Aang was at the birth of both of Hakoda and Kya’s children. Somehow, more joyful than the parents themselves.
The Beifongs had not expected the baby to be blind. Avatar Aang assured them that she would be more powerful than any other person he had ever known.
Aang sat on edge of the Southern Air Temple, surrounded by children from every nation. Their parents might not like Aang’s impromptu field trips for them, but he couldn’t resist sometimes. Whether it was to train with badgermoles, to fly with dragons, to see new wonders, or simply to light candles for the only one he’d failed… the only one whose lineage he hadn’t known. Aang might be over a century old, but he would always need his friends. It had taken decades, but his family was as complete as it was going to be.
Zuko and Sokka argued over which of them was taller. Yue braided Katara’s hair. And Toph used earthbending to lift herself above them all, laughing manically as she did.
Sky bison passed, carrying young monks and nuns to new adventures. And even with the ever present ache of Suki’s loss… Aang was happy.

Flowers for Ms. Kang
-
Jake Kim x f!reader
-
Jake Kim stumbles into a flower shop only to find a cute employee working that day.
-
Content Warnings - Crappy flower shop trope, mutual pinning (I think) ,mild cursing, barely proofread
-
A/n - had a lot of trouble writing this one, so I hope y’all enjoy.
Jake had been trying to get back into his mothers good graces for a while. After his whole illegal gambling fiasco she only seemed annoyed at him everytime they spoke. It was very apparent she loved him, but it was also apparent that she was disappointed in him. A fact that didn’t go unnoticed by Jake.
Maybe flowers might soften his mothers opinion of him. There was this quaint flower shop nearby big deal street that would be absolutely perfect for the job.
-
It was late afternoon when Jake finally got to the shop, the setting sun gave the inside of the shop a beautiful glow.
There isn’t much that can make Jake’s heart rate rise other than a good fight. That’s atleast what jake had thought until he walked through the door. His breath hitched, behind the counter stood a girl around his age who he had never seen before, and she was everything Jake wanted and more. Absolutely gorgeous.
In most instances when Jake met a girl he considered to be attractive he’d become an unapologetic flirt. Winks that made her face flush. Passing touches that made their heart rate quicken. Empty comments that they took as jokes.
But when Jake saw you he felt like a schoolboy with their first crush. Unable to do more then steal a glance or two.
You had been scheduled for a closing shift after you finished school today, which you begrudgingly took. I mean you needed the money of course, but you barely got more than 4 customers a day. The shop was unbelievably slow and boring.
So boring in fact that you took up a hobby of daydreaming. Something to pass the time atleast.
-
The last customer you had for the day had stood in front of your flower display for nearly half an hour at this point. He was attractive no doubt, anyone with eyes could notice that fact. But his attire and tattoos also reminded you of a thug, not the type of guy you’d usually go for.
When you finally decided to pay attention to the shop you noticed that the man looking at the display kept looking at you. Maybe he needed your help picking out flowers for his girlfriend?
You moved away from your spot behind the counter, towards him. “Excuse me sir, do you need any help finding anything?”
He scoffed at your question, maybe he didn’t need your help. “Sir? Gah you make me sound old.” He completely faced you after saying this, a playful pout forming on his lips.
“Only out of respect, sir.” You started to retreat back to your spot behind the counter. “Well if you need any help, just let me know. You are taking quite a bit.” The last part slipped out before you could even think, sounding more judgemental than intended.
“Sorry for taking too long” he playfully responded. “But uhh, yeah I could use a little help. I know nothing about flowers.” He frowned.
You made your way back to him, examining the flower display. “Hmm do you know what your girlfriends favorite flower is? I might be able to help you find something similar?”
“No, I would’ve gotten those if I had known.” He teased. “And the flowers are for my mother, I don’t have a girlfriend.”
“Oh” you paused in between your next words. “Hmm well then, do you atleast know her favorite color?”
“Of course. I know my moms favorite color, what do you think I am, a monster?” He paused for a second, shit, did he actually know her favorite color. “It’s uhh… purple yeah”
You giggled at his subtlety. “Well then I’d personally go with the Hydrangeas, you can hardly go wrong with those.” When you looked up at him, he was staring hard.
Jakes face flushed, getting caught in the act. “Okay.. that sounds great.”
You smiled, maybe he wasn’t so ‘thuggish’. “Alright well just follow me on up to the register and I’ll get you checked out.”
He nodded along, following you.
When he went to give you the money for the flowers, after you had told him the total, your hands had touched for just a split second. You could’ve sworn you felt a spark, and when you looked up at his face you could tell he had felt it too.
He thanked you for helping him and made his way out, you called after him telling him to have a nice day.
Huh, maybe thuggish looking guys might be your type
Jake’s mom didn’t hate the flowers she got. He thought that maybe he had even seen her genuine smile for the first time in a while. This was enough of a confirmation that Jake had needed. So, like any normal human being, he decided that the best course of action would be to visit the quaint little flower shop every week. His mothers happiness was the sole motivation for this conclusion, totally not the cute flower shop cashier.
Over the next few weeks Jake had learnt many things about you. He learned what your name was, which he totally didn’t attempt to look up on pacebook after finding out. He found out that you worked here to help your dad out. You told him what your favorite kind of flowers were. Recommended him your favorite movies. Excitedly told him that your birthday was coming up.
Jake knew almost everything about you that a boyfriend would. He just never had the courage to ask you out.
“Jake” you called out, earning the attention of your companion.
It was a Friday evening, Jake was here on one of his usual visits, something you began to look forward to throughout the passing week.
“We should go out.” It came out as a statement more than a question, which was fine. It was quite apparent that the boy liked you.
His face warmed. “Huh?” he replied, dumbfounded.
“I said, we should go out” you were now leaning into him, more than before. “I mean, I like you and I was kind of guessing you liked me.” You looked down now, feigning shyness. “But I guess you not asking me out on a date should’ve been proof enough, I should’ve known you didn’t feel that way.
Jake was stunned, god you were bold, way more than him. “Of course I like you [name], I’ve liked you from the moment I walked in here.” You didn’t know his face could grow more red, but it did. “I’d love to go on a date with you, though I wish I had the courage to ask you first.” He mumbled the last part.
You looked up at his face, heads not even a foot apart. “I know Jake, I just wanted you to admit it.” You teased, making Jake avoid your gaze.

Let's go on a Date
Pairings: 1940s!Bucky x reader Warnings: None Summary: You go to a carnivel Bucky spots you in the crowd.
~
"Isn't it nice here" Your friend smiles at you walking around, the carnivel is here and most people showed up here. Probably the whole town. You look around and watch people, mostly young couples holding hands, sharing cotton candy, and laughing with each other.
"Yes, this was a good idea" you smile at her
"I know" She smiles back cocky. She looks up at the ferris wheel. "We have to go on that!" Just then you hear a whistle, you turn around and look at a group of boys. You giggle and turn back around laughing with your friend. You both walk away towards the ride.
"Hey! We were talking to you pretty lady." The one man grabs your arm. you quickly pulled it back. I look at him weird.
"Don't touch me, I don't know you"
"Come on, baby let's go on the ride." He touches your jacket.
"No"
"Come on"
"She doesn't want to go with you. She's riding with me" Your friend says pulling you closer to her side.
"My friend over there would love to go with you. And I have her"
"No, we don't want to" You say turning around again.
"Oh don't be mean" He says yanking your arm making you spin back around into him. "See it's nice here" You scoff and before you know it he's on the ground.
"She doesn't want to go with you" You hear the man say. He's standing in uniform over the man he just punched. His friends help him up and they walk away.
"Thank you" you say shyly.
"Of course, doll" He smiles, he's confident you can tell. "My name is Bucky" he says holding out his hand. You place your on his and he kisses it.
"Y/n" you smile widily.
"Well, Y/n would you like to go on that ride with me?" He flashes you a bigger smile with his teeth showing. You smile at him then at your friend who is nodding her head like crazy."
"No" You say quickly laughing, you grab your friends hand and run towards the line. You look back at him, he's shaking his head, smiling at you.
A chase, he loves a good chase and she has no idea that he does. She's just hoping he'll come after and try harder. She needs to make sure he's worth it. Bucky makes his way through the crowd keeping his eyes on you, making sure he doesn't lose you. He taps on your shoulder.
"Are you sure you don't want to go on this ride with me?"
"I don't know you" You smile at him
"You can get to know me"
"I don't know if I want to"
"Oh, you want to" he smirks at you.
"and how do you know?"
"Because I'm worth knowing."
"Are you?" He nods at you. "Still, my answer is no" you turn back around and get on the ride with your friend. A person runs up to Bucky.
"Hi babe!" Your friend yells out to her boyfriend.
"We'll be on the cart behind you!"
"You guys know each other?" You ask
"We work together, he's a great guy" Her boyfriend yells out to you
"Told ya" He smirks at you.
The whole ride your friend was trying to convince you to give Bucky a chance. Go on a date on a date with him, she keeps telling you he’s really nice and she only hears good things about him.
“I don’t know” you look back and see him smiling at you. “He is really cute” you giggle
“Just one date” she nudges you
“I’ll think about it”
The ride ends and you get off, they are off a second after you and your friend. You both wait for the boys, your friend goes up and hugs her boyfriend giving him a kiss. You look awkwardly at Bucky.
“How about it?” He asks breaking the silence
“How about about what?” You smirk at him
“Let’s go on a date” his smile gives you butterflies. You look at your watch and realize you need to get home.
“Maybe” you go up to your best friend telling her you have to leave.
“How will I find you?” He stops you from walking away.
“You’ll figure it out” you walk away leaving him there confused. How is he going to find you? He watches you leave and can’t help but feel something, something he’s never felt about you before. He meets up with his friend and he won’t stop talking about you. Your friend gives him advice and where to find you most days.
~
A few days later you were walking down the street, you were shopping for a new dress.
“Hey doll” you hear a familiar voice, you get butterflies and turn around.
“Hello Bucky. You found me” you smile
“I did” he says getting closer to you “how about that date?”
“To where?”
“Anywhere you like” he puts his hands in his pockets leaning on the brick wall
“You’re in the army?” You ask, he looks at you not sure what to say.
“I am” he nods. You look him up and down.
“Fine, let’s go on a date” You smile
“What are you doing here?” He asks looking around the shops
“I was getting a dress for our date” you smile wildly “meet me here at 7” you say walking away.
~
Your date was perfect, Bucky was a true gentleman. He was nice and always giving you compliments, he made laugh like you’ve never done before. You can’t help but start falling for this man. Now the only problem is you two are inseparable and he’s leaving for the army. Who knows when he’ll be back or even if he’ll get back. It hurts your heart to even think about it. You give him a huge hug and kiss before he leaves. You also give him a picture of yourself.
“Come back home to me James” you say to him in the hug.
“I will Doll. I promise” he kisses before leaving. Leaving for good. You hug your friend tightly, her boyfriend is leaving too.
“They’ll be okay” you say to her, you lie you have no idea. “They’re tough” she only nods and hugs you tighter.
When the letters stopped coming you got worried. Incredibly worried. When his family showed up at your doorstep you feel to your knees. You held onto your chest because your heart hurt so much. You couldn’t believe this was happening right now. You didn’t want to believe you it. So you didn’t. You left home, you left looking for answers. You got caught up in some stuff you never should’ve known to begin with. You ended up being taken to lab, a lab were the enemy’s were. You were scared out of your mind and you understood nothing they said except James Barnes. You got pushed into a machine, you fought them with all your might but it was no use. They were going to kill you.
~ Years later ~
You woke up in a room, not sure where you are. You jump out of bed and make your way towards a door but it was locked. Flashes of killing people and doing horrible things flash through your mind. You scream holding your head. The door flings open.
“Who are you?” You yell with tears in your eyes
“I know you’re probably confused and scared I will explain everything but I need to show you something first.” You just stare at him in fear. He clicks on the TV. You look at it confused that’s a TV? You watch the news and see people look so different.
“What is this?”
“You, you are in the 2020’s” you scoff at him
"Yeah okay. What is this? Seriously."
"Come" He says, waving his hand you follow him out into a hallway then to a door. He nods his head, you open it and you see cars, people, roadways you've never seen before.
"Oh my god" You say in a whisper. "I can't believe it." He's not lying you think.
"Why am I here?" you ask "How am I here?" You look down at your body, you still like you did years ago.
"We're not sure." he says, looking at you, studying your features. "There is something else."
"What?" you ask walking back into the home.
"We have two people here from your time" I give him the most confused look my face could make
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Yes, I know it's hard to believe but one is Captain America."
"Steve!" You smile "Steve is here?"
"You know him?"
"Of course I know him, my boy-" you stop yourself "Uh my boyfriend at the time was best friends with him." you try not to let anything bother you right now, this is a lot to take in and the realization of everything you know is gone would break you forever. He nods.
"Would you like to see them, maybe they could explain better than I could"
"Sure"
He takes you in an elevator and brings you down to a gym area. It smells like sweat and gym flooring. You look around and see and a huge man punching sacks.
"Wow Steve. You got huge" Steve immediately stops and looks at you, he looks like he can't believe what he's seeing right now.
"Y/n?" He walks over slowly.
"Hi" You smile. He comes over to you and touches your shoulder making sure you're real.
"H-how?" You shrug not sure why you're here either. He looks at the man who brought you down.
"Fury?" he says, I guess that's his name. Fury looks at Steve and nods.
"Same as Buck, I thought you two would be the best people to explain everything to her"
"wait, wait Buck?" You ask, you can feel your heart racing so much you think it's going to pop "Buck, as in Bucky?" You look at Steve, he opened his mouth but wasn't able to finish.
"Steve, Sam is talking about some stupid shit again and won't stop." Bucky walks down the stairs not even realizing anyone is there. "Steve" bucky says again before looking up. He stops in his tracks, he backs up before his eyes land on yours. His eyebrows furrow and he walks towards you. You have tears in your eyes, you never thought you'd see him again. He looks so good in his leather jacket, dark new hair style, is that a metal arm? You don't even care you can't believe he's right in front of you.
"Y/n?" Bucky asks as he's standing so close you can smell him. You throw your arms around him bringing him in closer. You hug him tight and he does the same to you.
"I thought I lost you forever"
"I told you, you'd never lose me" He kisses your head. "Let's go on a date." You pull back and laugh, he always said that to you when, you were mad about something, or you were sad, or super excited about something he always said, Let's go on a date.
"Let's do that" You kiss him. He kisses you back, Steve clears his throat. "Oh yeah" You say
"I totally forgot you guys were here" Bucky says clearing his throat. you giggle, because you completely forgot too. Steve and Bucky tried explaining things to you but you couldn't hear anything they were saying all you kept thinking was "I have my Bucky back."

Hope you enjoy it!

— COLD BREW
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
order #3 of the coffee shop series: a cold brew
ingredients. barista!changbin x y/n. strangers to crushes. hurt/comfort. angst and fluff. protective!changbin.
size. 2k
allergies. contains: angst. heartbreak.
special add ons. changbin’s aura intimidated some customers, he couldn’t help it. but when you had come in with teary eyes for the second time in a row, changbin had to do something about it.
Tumblr media
“hey felix,” changbin hoped that his voice didn’t come out as shaky as it felt, “what do you do when a customer is sad?”
the freckled boy’s lips brows furrowed, “i don’t know. what’s the context?”
“the other day, a sort of regular customer seemed… sad. but she just asked for a cold brew and left.”
“did you try and talk to her? smile at her? compliment her?”
“no, i guess i forgot to.”
“you probably scared her,” seungmin pointed out, shaking a jar filled with ice and coffee, “you’ve been working out more recently, do you realize how scary you look?”
changbin fell silent for a moment. when he thought about it— perhaps seungmin was right.
he never wore the same fluffy cardigans as felix and jeongin or had the charm chan and hyunjin had.
his tight black shirts never seemed too scary, and neither did his intense resting face. in his mind, he was happy and at least somewhat approachable.
“just something to think about.”
Tumblr media
seungmin meant no harm by his words, but changbin couldn’t help feeling a little more insecure throughout the day.
each time he’d pass by a mirror, he’d find that his smile wasn’t there, even when he thought it was. he was hyper-aware of when a customer avoided eye contact, or when he forgot to greet somebody at the door.
and soon, the afternoon had faded into evening, and once jisung walked through the door to replace him, changbin was off.
he was counting down the minutes until jisung’s usual arrival, wanting nothing more than to go home and take out all of his stress on the dumbbells.
it was obvious that he didn’t exactly want to be there— but then again, changbin was sure that he never looked like he wanted to be there.
“changbin, are you alright?” chan pulled him aside eventually, resting his hand on his shoulder, “you don’t seem like yourself.”
“there’s just a lot on my mind,” he shrugged, “it hasn’t been the best day, seungmin said something that really got to me.”
“you should take off early, yeah? we can handle it and you can text me about it later. go home and take it easy.”
“i guess that would be a good idea,” changbin forced a smile, turning his head out of habit at the customer walking in.
“welcome in!” everyone sang out.
he abruptly stood up, his eyes widened slightly. it was her. that was the girl.
“i can take her order changbin, you should leave.”
“no, i want to take her order.”
as he appeared at the counter, he realized that she had a tear-stained face, eyes puffy with red lips— why had she come in here crying once again?
‘did you try and talk to her? smile at her? compliment her?’ changbin recalled felix’s words, searching his brain for something to say.
“good evening,” he smiled kindly, or at least he thought he did, “i like your hoodie.”
“thanks,” your voice shook, doing an awfully bad job of hiding your sadness, “could i just have a cold brew?”
he tapped his computer screen, placing your order. “is that all for you?”
you paused for a moment. “yeah.”
changbin’s stomach churned hearing the pain in your voice, unable to do anything to solve it just as he had done last time.
would he just let you walk away again? he would feel even more terrible if he let that happen.
without thinking, he tapped a few more buttons, “it’ll be free today. and i added a brownie— felix makes really good brownies. would you like that warmed up?”
he caught himself, “or i could get you another treat if you don’t like brownies.”
you stared at him for a moment as if you were a deer caught in headlights.
did he mess up? did you just want a cold brew? what if he made it all worse?
his worries seemed to be confirmed as tears spilled from your eyes, guilt eating up at him.
changbin wanted to run and hide. he should’ve let chan take your order— he must’ve been too scary for you to handle.
he began to chew his bottom lip, staring down at the screen for a moment as he thought of what to say.
turning, he decided it would be best to let chan take over and get you what you needed.
“a warm brownie would be so wonderful. thank you so much.” you smiled at him.
changbin’s shoulders relaxed, feeling stupid for getting so worked up over this.
“of course.”
you left to take a seat, and since nobody else was at the counter, changbin decided to personally serve you. it was the least that he could do.
“jisung!” he heard everyone yell out as the door opened, turning to see the boy waving at his coworkers and a couple of regulars.
“what’s going on tonight?” the room was suddenly full of his energy, and changbin couldn’t help but feel a little better, putting the brownie into the mini oven.
“changbin’s getting off about now and hyunjin is staying a little later tonight to finish a new piece for above the booth,” chan shrugged.
“at least hyunjin doesn’t mind loud music” jisung grinned, clocking into the system.
“not tonight. i’m also staying late, preparing for the holiday drinks.”
“changbin, take him home with you!”
“i would if he’d let me,” he placed the brownie on a dish, topping it with a good amount of whipped cream, “but the dude never stops working.”
“just because he’s old and can’t have fun doesn’t mean we have to do the same thing.”
changbin left the boys to fight in favor of bringing you the brownie and cold brew.
“they’re pretty loud, aren’t they?”
“it’s fun to watch.”
he hesitated for a moment after he sat your plate down. was he supposed to walk away now? was what he did for you enough? he didn’t feel like it was. part of him was a little curious.
“thank you for the brownie. it means a lot to me.”
“are you alright? you seem to be really sad.”
“you could tell?”
changbin let out a shaky laugh, “you don’t hide it well.”
you wiped the dried tear tracks from your face, “i just went through a bad breakup.”
his smile fell. “oh.”
there was an awkward silence for a moment as changbin stood, watching your eyes fall on the brownie in front of you, “it’s okay. he was an asshole anyway.”
“well,” he shuffled his feet awkwardly, “i’m always here to talk about it if you need somebody. i always work weekday afternoons.”
“thank you, changbin.”
he smiled— you remembered his name.
“i’ll see you later.”
as he left work, changbin thought that he’d stop thinking about you now that he had properly been able to comfort you. but he was wrong.
in fact, he thought about you all the way home, as he did his nightly workout routine, and then when he got into bed.
what was your name? would you be back? what happened between you and your ex?
even as he drifted off to sleep, your face was stuck in his mind— not that he was complaining. even with messy hair and puffy eyes, you weren’t hard to look at.
he thought that you were one of the prettiest girls he had ever seen.
Tumblr media
“good afternoon, it’s been a few days,” you smiled at changbin, causing his heart to skip a beat, “i took a few more days to mope around, but i’m back.”
something about your presence was different. “you seem to be in a better mood today.”
“i think i’m slowly getting better, you know?”
he wanted to tell you how beautiful your smile was, and how you should keep it that way, but he bit his tongue, “cold brew?”
“you know me so well. a brownie with that, please.”
“felix is a wonderful baker.”
“you’ve mentioned. you like complimenting him, don’t you?”
changbin felt his ears turning red, not noticing that he had already said that before.
right as he thought he was done panicking, you winked at him, “i’ll be waiting. thank you.”
face practically burning, changbin turned around to prepare your drink.
“are you and y/n getting along?” an amused hyunjin sipped his iced chai latte.
“you know her?”
“a little. we’ve talked before. not like how she was talking to you, though.”
“i heard it too,” minho stepped into the conversation, “who winks at people like that?”
“you do,” hyunjin snickered, dipping his paintbrush into the water.
changbin shook his head. “she just went through a bad breakup, she wouldn’t be flirting yet.”
“i don’t know about that. maybe all those muscles are doing you some good after all. take her order to her. sit down and chat for a while. i can cover you.” hyunjin stood up from his bar seat.
changbin sighed, taking the brownie out of the oven, “fine.”
“put a caramel drizzle heart on it.”
“that’s overdoing it!”
he left the arguing boys to bring you the order with a shy smile, sitting straight across from you.
“you’re taking the hospitality to a new level, changbin.”
“i just want to get to know you better. you’re a regular after all, right?”
you gave him no reply, looking past him. your smile dropped immediately.
changbin turned his head to find what you were staring at, but you caught him with a whisper, “don’t look.”
“why? what’s going on?”
“it’s him.”
he put the pieces together immediately judging by your hurt expression.
“just keep talking like normal. he knows that i come here, maybe he’ll leave me alone if we talk,” you forced a smile onto your face.
“i’m not gonna do that.”
he let hyunjin take the guy’s order, but if it were up to him, he would’ve kicked him out before he got the chance.
“he sees us,” you whispered, “just act normal.”
“y/n, listen,” he stiffened as he heard the voice from behind him, “i know this is a bad time and you’re busy, but you’ve been ignoring all of my calls…”
changbin thought that he could explode with anger at the words. “if you could please just hear me out, i didn’t mean anything that happened.”
why did he care this much about a girl he had just met? perhaps it was how he could see your pain. maybe it was the feeling in his chest when he finally saw you smile, or that you didn’t seem to be intimidated by him like everyone else was.
but maybe he could use his intense presence to do him, and you, a favor.
changbin took a deep breath, standing up and in between you and the man, not even having to try to give his best death stare.
“listen, she’s busy right now, so fuck off.”
“changbin!” chan shouted out.
he knew exactly what chan was running over to tell him from the look on his face.‘leave and calm down for a bit. come back when you can work.’
changbin would have to do exactly that, especially knowing that your ex wasn’t gonna budge, but he wasn’t going to leave without you.
he grabbed your hand, tugging you out the door and to a bench hidden behind the strip mall. it was finally quiet.
you wrapped your arms around yourself as changbin took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.
“i was just starting to get over him,” tears falling down your cheeks.
when he opened his eyes to find you crying, his heart softened, all of his anger vanishing into the cool, winter air.
he didn’t know what to do, staring at the way you fell apart in front of him, crying harder than you had the two other times he had seen you.
“i promise i’m not always crying,” you stiffly laughed.
“it’s okay to cry.” you let out a choked sob at his reply and changbin couldn’t help but gather you in his arms, holding you tightly.
“everything will be okay, i promise.” he rubbed your back, letting you cry your heart out to him.
the sun was just starting to set, and he would have to go back soon. by now, your ex should be gone, but he didn’t want to face chan’s wrath.
he would much rather spend the night comforting the beautiful girl that he barely even knew.
