It's crazy how the "not possible" scene in S3 proves, in canon, that Mike was projecting during the rain fight.

Like if he'd really meant what he said about them not being kids anymore and it's to be expected that they'd grow out of playing DnD (and their relationship), he would not be so freaked out by Will giving away his DnD set.

He might have been like "aw", but just kind of nodded in acceptance that Will is making the choice to grow up and outgrow the game (and their relationship), just like he said.

Instead, Mike panics!

It's clear that he not only expects that Will would still want to keep playing DnD, but is even fretful and anxious about Will joining another party (finding someone else).

Again there's no reason for him to look so anxious about this or even ask Will about it if he meant what he said during the fight

It also can't be because he's just being considerate of Will's feelings, as proven by the following scene.

After being reassured of Will not joining another party, Mike gushes to El that he can't wait to meet up (with Will) for Christmas so they can play with their new presents, a k.a. MORE GAMES.

He's more excited about the prospect of playing games than ever, and makes it clear that his future plans include Will.

He used these last moments in private with El not to speak of romance or getting back together with her, but about how excited he is to see Will again and play games with him (not an interest El shares).

Don't worry, Mike.....Will still wants to sit in your basement playing games for the rest of his life without getting girlfriends (just like you do 😔)
