#not that I watched any of the shows for shipping reasons

Getting ready to drag out the old stan X/Twitter account cause wtf do you mean people who have watched the show for about two weeks & have only interacted with toxic buddie shippers are now jumping on the Tommy hate train?
There’s someone who got some traction live tweeting their watch about a week ago & it’s mind blowing to see them go from being neutral but into buddie to a full on easily led hater cause they’ve only interacted with vocal toxic fans.
Asking why people like Tommy when “all he did was be awful to Chim & Hen, apologise offscreen and kiss Buck”. If they just watched the eps about a week ago how did they forget that Tommy, Chim & Hen resolved their differences on screen & that Tommy literally risked his job & life to rescue Bobby & Athena just cause Chim asked.
You don’t have to love Tommy but the forced hate & ignoring his character development is frustrating.
It also is weird that they’ll double down on hating him over it all (& I know they’re doing it cause he’s the LI in the way of their ship) but hand wave away anything any of the other characters have done. None of them are perfect.
Plus, this whole virtue signaling narrative they’ve invented that he could have outed Buck to Eddie over a snarky closet joke that only Buck and the audience had context for - Eddie had literally just mentioned closet space - is so ridiculous it’s laughable. None of them cared when the episode aired but cause it’s gained traction within the toxic buddie fandom as something they can use to turn people against Tommy they’re now all jumping on to use it as a reason to hate.
I’m so so close to joining the few buddie and bucktommy/Kinley shippers over there I see trying to push back (& I do see you guys, I know you’re on here cause it’s a nicer environment, & I thank you for being willing to try to get through to those who are willfully ignorant). But while I like to vent here I really don’t want to engage with them.

Okay, I was reading the Mr. Pax Teacher Au and this idea popped in my head. So basically Optimus is finishing up a work day and a staff member comes up saying someone is here claiming to be his ‘wife’. Optimus questions the staff for a bit and then they reveal they have “pink hair”. Optimus then goes outside to see someone patiently waiting for him with a smile. (I’m a sucker for OptimusxElita, sue me!) Also Elita going “Yeah, you would.” Cause she just knows him. Hope this idea is fun for you!
Well I can't NOT write a snippet for this thank you. I have exactly two ships that I will devour without hesitation and Optimus/Elita happens to be one of them.
━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙ ━━━━━━━━━━━━
Optimus's digits tapped on the desk along to the beat of a simple tune he hummed to himself as he looked over the day's papers. There were quite a few interesting pieces from his young archivists- students. His dear students. They showed such interest in the history he taught them. It was a joy to watch them grow and thrive under his tutelage.
"Abigail, you impress me yet again." He smiled as he looked over the girl's artwork. The assignment for the week had been to compose a model of something Cybertronian. Abigail, one of his more artistic students, had created quite the work of art. Despite having never seen any actual images of Optimus's fallen world, she managed to capture an admittedly quite accurate, if a tad abstract, vision of Uraya. It prompted his spark to flare in joy within his true frame.
"Mr. Pax, apologies for intruding." A feminine voice broke him from his work, prompting Optimus to place down his pile of paperwork and look up. Mrs. Glass, the school nurse, stood in the doorway nervously. She patted down her knitted sweater in what Optimus could only assume was anxiety considering the lack of any noticeable contaminant.
"Can I help you Mrs. Glass?" The nurse shifted uncomfortably before she nodded. Optimus stood up slowly, concern growing in his processors as he ran through the possible issues that might have arisen while he was working. Was the headmaster trying to tamper with affairs again?
"There is a woman outside who is claiming to be your wife." Optimus froze, his expression shifting as he tried to parse out what was happening. Arcee had already taken on the role of "aunt" for Jack. Being Optimus's wife would break her cover. It couldn't be June either for similar reasons.
Was he being stalked?
"Does she have any distinguishing features?" His expression settled into something firm as he readied himself to have to politely tell a confused woman that she had the wrong individual.
"She has pink hair and bright blue eyes. I think she might be wearing colored contacts." Whatever worry was settling into his spark halted the moment he got out the door and heard the nurse's explanation. Instead, faint hope grew steadily as he increased his pace and Mrs. Glass continued.
"She stated that her name was Ariel of Iacon. Although I am not sure where that city is-" Optimus stopped listening and broke into a sprint as he forced his holoform to go faster than it should have been able to according to human biology.
She couldn't be here.
He sent her away after the Allspark was taken from its place.
There was no way his Conjunx was on Earth after so many millennia apart.
"Being a teacher suites you." It was not the voice he knew, not entirely. There was none of the underlying glyphs or tones of their homeworld, but he knew her voice anywhere. He could never mistake her.
"Elita." He stepped out, his holoform momentarily flickering as Elita-One waited for him patiently, her arms crossed over her chest and a font smile on her face. He could almost see the mighty warrior that was his Conjunx through the veil of her disguise. He could hardly wait to wrap her in his arms properly as soon as they were away from prying optics.
"I missed you." She was the first to wrap her arms around him, organic as they were. Their forms melded in places as their holoforms struggled to maintain the illusion alongside their raging emotional states. However, Optimus found he didn't care as he looked into oh so human eyes and saw the spark of a Cybertronian hidden behind them.
She was here. He didn't know how or why, but Elita was here with him once more.
"I stopped by your base before I came here. I wanted it to be a surprise." She laughed as she nuzzled against his neck, searching for sensory lines that where not there. Optimus wrapped his limited EM field around her as he processed her presence and relished in it.
"It has been a most pleasant surprise to see you here after so long." Distantly, he noted Mrs. Glass watching from the school entrance. Optimus didn't bother looking back as he pulled away and took Elita's hands in his. The paperwork could be dealt with later. For now, there were bonds to be reforged, memories to share, and many long cycles apart to make up for.
"To base then?" Elita smiled up at him. Optimus could almost imagine her antennae perking up as he grinned in response.
"If that is what you want love."

might be a hot take but god it pisses me off so much that every wlw show ive watched thats been canceled had an INCREDIBLE plot aside from the romance. like time travel or uncontrollable telekinesis or a fucked up social experiment of a staged plane crash. all very interesting stories and the wlw romance is a bonus and they still get canceled.
but literally nothing else has to happen for a mlm show to break records. nothing happens in shows like heartstopper. its JUST a high school romance. yes theres some wlw and i know people will argue that the focus on just high school is why they like it but it pisses me off how well they do compared to incredibly elaborate and brilliant stories that also have wlw romance. and they do well ENTIRELY bc its mlm.
and its because straight people (specifically straight girls) love mlm stories so shows like heartstopper get the straight audience AND the gay audience but no straight people care about wlw fiction like that. so every wlw show gets a smaller audience because its just a gay audience watching, and it leads to it being canceled every fucking time.

You mentioned you don’t ship Destiel but you don’t NOT ship Destiel, but I gotta say it’s pretty funny how they just…stopped giving Dean like ANY love interests post season 6 after the 2nd show runner tried to kill off Cas and fired Misha and then got fired themself, all the other show runners were like, nah we are keeping Dean’s emotional support Angel/Jensen’s emotional support weirdo lol. (In moments of “Jensen totally kins Dean” Jensen kept saying he wanted Misha back and refused to stop pressing for Cas to return and from then on in show whenever Cas dies/is forced away Dean’s like, actively not ok and it’s hilarious)
LMAO i love this, it feels like i'm on a walking tour of a city and you're my guide pointing out all the landmarks i've only ever seen in pictures before
i think i ship destiel the way ppl will eat a free sample at the grocery store like. ya sure why not

my dad is so supportive of my interests (including stranger things), and i can talk to him about anything
but he’s also slightly confused about.. everything
a while ago, i was telling him about how they were selling merch of will’s painting, and how they’re making a profit off of a queer character’s feelings without giving him actual romance. and how, if byler isn’t canon in season 5, that would probably count as queerbaiting
today i was telling him about how some people ship elmax, and how it’s really cute but it’ll most likely not be canon, and he got very upset, saying “but they have to put it in the show! or else it’s might be……” *long pause* “that thing you were saying? gay bashing? gay hating?? queer hating???”
not quite correct but i love the effort

what are your rarepair(s)?
I have such a long list of these that it could go on forever; I see one look and I'm like "they should be together." Some are serious and some are kinda jokey, and some are only rare pairs because the fandoms around them are overwhelmingly heterosexual, but here's some of them:
Nas / Patterson [Blindspot] (here's my post on why, very spoilery and silly)
Jane / Patterson [Blindspot] (this one grew on me)
Brennan / Angela [Bones]
Brennan / Cam [Bones] (i swear this is the best match on paper even if others are better in chemistry)
Emily Prentiss / Penelope Garcia [Criminal Minds]
Emily Prentiss / Jordan Todd [Criminal Minds]
Fearne Calloway / Imogen Temult [Critical Role]
Fran / CC [The Nanny]
And that doesn't even touch on all of my weird crossover ships that probably no one in their right mind is thinking about, of which my top few are Temperance Brennan (Bones) and Maura Isles (Rizzoli and Isles), Cam (Bones) and Gillian Foster (Lie to Me), Maura Isles and Megan Hunt (Body of Proof), and Maura and Gillian Foster.

I'm not sure if i have anyone to ask so i got a question regarding Good Omens season 2 here
i'm asking pretty much:
Does the second season of Good Omens get better?
Like: i watched the first episode and felt disappointed given how well written and throughrough the first season was. And the second season in the very first episode felt as if it was lacking.
Dad, who i was watching it with, thought it wasn't good. And he's one of those people who can actually tell if a production is well done, bad or just mid. (and He thought the first season was good and enjoyed it even tho he dislikes when authors play around religions in fiction as he finds it mocking toward religions.)
Maybe it was a mistake to re/watch the first season hours before watching the second one, but honestly i'm unsure whether i should watch it further, i might simply skip it? In this case for me the fandom fun is not important, i just want it to be actually good and as thought through as the first season, and i fear it is not the case.

X-men 97 is frustrating bc I'm really enjoying the dramatic emotional subplots right up to the point I am INFURIATED by them bc it feels like they're arguing over nothing when the clear and obvious solution is RIGHT THERE

#the PROBLEM is. some properties I like I cannot even talk about my Criticisms™ because if I do it attracts people whose side I am NOT on#like in the case of a certain british procedural show adopting old mystery novels that went on hiatus a lot. I did not like season 4.#but that is not because The Ship didn't go canon and it CERTAINLY wasn't because I never thought any of the show was good in#the first place. and I don't like The Main Ship of the c-chibs era but it's because the way it was written was VERY much not for me.#it's not because I think the whole era is trash (that ship was really the ONLY part of it I didn't like I loved everything else)#I DO have beef with some of the choices in season 8 of The Gritty Deconstruction Fantasy Show but they sure weren't ANY of the issues#that anyone else had!!! and I don't think it retroactively ruined the whole show actually!!!!!#like it's just so frustrating. especially since sometimes I DO want to break down what I consider to be unfortunate writing choices.#and I DO want to complain sometimes! but so much of the discussion around various properties is taken up by me just.#trying to explain that I'm allowed to like it in the first place and defending why I don't think it's Unconditionally Bad#so I can't ever like. for example. discuss the deaths in 8x03 and my issues with THOSE as character endpoints#or why they killed mary and had her husband act terribly to her for no reason just before she died#or how shitty it was in the last era for me to see ANOTHER character be mentally ill but in the most unobtrusive palatable way possible#(and then also make that really weird comment about a previous love interest??? who WAS unpalatable in many ways--though not like.#canonically mentally ill. even if I and many other people are drawn to that interpretation.)#perHAPS I want to talk about my confusion over the story's handling of j/d for reasons that are not 'I hate these characters' or#'that's pRoBLeMaTiC and you shouldn't ship it because that's pRoBLeMaTiC'#maybe I WILL just make a 4-hour video essay unpacking all my Thoughts™ on that show. because people don't have to watch it!#they could just hit the back button!

After watching Cosmic Fury myself....yeah, my opinion still the same really: it doesn't really feel like an ending to a 30 year old franchise like Power Rangers, it just feels like another series of Power Rangers.

i love mistynat but it's always so funny to me when i see people latch onto the comments made about how "travis and nat were so toxic together" as a reason to hate travis and travisnat. and then turn around and ship nat with Extremely Normal Woman Misty Quigley. nat has told her to fuck off a million times and misty just conveniently forgets how to read and then rips the wires out of nat's car

I've always been on the aro spectrum even before I was fully aromantic and thinking back to so many TV shows/movies I would always think that "unnecessary" relationship plots/drama made the media actively worse and was very rarely into them. Now I realize that the few pairings I did like on my own (and not bc everyone else did so I just fell for it too) was because the writers were able to convince me that the characters respected each other on a personal level. If I couldn't see or even imagine the respect I didn't like them as a couple (not that I realized it until I was older). That still holds SO true for me, and let me tell you the numbers haven't gone up much.

Question do you ship any of the characters so far?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. That's a good question! I get invested in characters and character dynamics in any given series very easily, but shipping is a lot more variable. I'd say that right now, as of Season 1 Episode 8, the extent of my interest in ships for the Owl House is that I know Luz and Amity are going to develop a relationship in canon eventually and I think that's neat.
2. This one's a little easier to answer. While I love everyone in the cast, I'll admit to being a little biased in Amity's favour already. What can I say? I like smug rival characters, characters who are a little bit full of themselves but it's because they're covering up something else and/or because they're legitimately talented, and characters who get a lot of development (as I'm certain she will).
Besides that, the characters I'm most invested in tend to change from episode to episode, depending on who's getting more focus. Following Episode 8, I'd say that I'm very interested in seeing more of Lilith.
3. Episode 5, for sure! It had everything: lore, character introductions, character development, character dynamics, a really cool fight scene, some really funny moments, some really emotional moments, and some ominous plot hints. It was great!
A solid runner-up would be Episode 4, because it absolutely blindsided me with bringing up Eda's curse so early in the series, and I love being surprised. Plus, it had lots of interesting stuff going on with every single member of the main trio, and it felt really balanced in that regard.
(You'd think that I'd have loved watching Episode 7, since it's got so much Amity in it, but I spent way too much time trying to analyse her character while watching and not enough time just enjoying the episode. That one's on me!)
4. Hmmm. I think I'd prefer not to elaborate on this one for now. Sorry!
