Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.

#cats #holiday #OUGHH....... barely could even get these edited and posted... my mysterious sickness flare up has been sooo bad the past few #days.. I didn't even go to the usual obligatory family christmas I was supposed to attend (!!! health issue/medical mention in tags below) #My stomach issues basically put me in a constant state of uncontrollable shivering/body shaking + nausea + sometimes rapid heart #rate. and when it happens at night that makes it like.. nearly impossible to sleep when you're violently shaking + you can feel your heart #so strong + you keep having to run to the bathroom every 5 minute to cough and gag #and throw up and so on and so forth. etc. So I went like 40 hours without any sleep almost for christmas eve and all of christmas day #last night I finally got maybe 2 hours of sleep in between the nausea and shaking and stuff. and then today I was able to get a few #hours of sleep in the afternoon. Today I tried taking an anxiety mediciation a doctor gave me in case it was anxiety related (it's apparent #ly used to relax people and works in the moment. rather than like Anxiety Mediciation that you have to take for weeks to see any effect #because I think this isn't actually acting on your brain chemistry it's judt like..a mild sedative or something.) but all that did was make #me dizzy and sweaty lol. I;m glad I slept a little but I'm just still frustrated that I don't feel normal. I started having these #'episodes' (with the stomach issues + shaking + heartrate + nausea etc.) like at the end of october. And usually it will happen for like a #few hours at a time. or i'll lose sleep one day and then be fine the next. but this has been like nearly 3 days of feeling weird. so is #getting kind of annoying... It's funny too because I was so so productive like.. literally the few days before. I was feeling much better #and I was working on my game and blah blah. But then.. random issue flare up out of nowhere of course.. yaayy.... happy holidays to meee lo #I did at least see two random ducks outside of my window in the yard area for christmas. and havent seen them since. So it's like.. hrmm.. #pacing around my room nauseous and shakings and etc. but at least... hello.. two little ducks placed there just for me :3c #Now I get anxiety every night which I'm sure doesn't help/could exacerbate whatever underlying genuinely physical issues exist. But after #like 2 nights of 'I spend the night sleepless and incredibly uncomfortable just sitting in the dark sick' then bedtime is like.. dread... #I even was trying slapping myself in the face in desperation to see if somehow that could shock my body out of whatever the hell it was #doing lol.. up at 3am holding ice cubes in my hand and hitting myself in the head and crying from exhaustion and thowing up.. literally #ridiculous cartoon character feeling... AAANYWAY!!! At least I have baby boy pictures. and I have lots of doctors appointments so hopefully #whatever the issue is can be sorted out at some point. I don't know much about ibs but hopefully maybe something like that that I could pos #ibly take medication for and not something more seirous or anything. Maybe there's a food I'm secretly intolerant to or whatever. #And I did at least post a sims holday video actually timed for the holidays so that's something. I havent been productive really latrely #though obviously.. I can't even play games or small tasks when in that state since I'm just SO physically uncomfortable. Nausea and heart #stuff are THE hardest physical sensations to ignore.. Being stuck inside with the winter weather has me eating like some kind of southern hobbit

#i went grocery shopping before the storm specifically planning good snowstorm food #made buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy from scratch and after 3 days not being able to go anywhere and coming in from a long winter wal #it HIT #also one day i made pigs in the blanket with the good kielbasa for lunch #i made kielbasa with potatoes and cabbage for dinner one day #my wife made a giant pot of vegtable soup and weve been eating those leftovers #oh also we got a pack of the bacon 'ends and pieces' and i spent friday cooking that down into bacon bits (that keep in the freezer) and #lard (for cooking) #and made some really good potato soup #edit: FORGOT to mention the lunch i just made that inspired this post #2 patties of leftover breakfast sausage a fried egg the last buttermilk biscuit and a couple little slices of cheese #it is COLD we are eating HEAVY FOOD

Bökh: „And you never wanted to get in touch?"

The Nichtraucher picks up a piece of wood.

Silence.

Nichtraucher: „Why should I? We didn’t see each other for the past ten years either.“

He rips the piece of wood apart with his bare hands. While holding eye contact with Justus.

Silence.

Justus lowers his head.

Jo: „Uh.. weren’t you-" Martina, quietly: „Jo, leave it. Lets go.“

Martina, louder: „We need to go! We still have something to do.“

The kids leave. Jo and Martina are holding hands as they walk away.

Bökh: „Yeah… Thank you, kids.“

Jo, whispering as they walk away: "What was that just now?!"

Robert picks up the chopped wood and walks back to his wagon. Justus looks after him.

Narrator (audiobook): If the two friends will find back together? Matze isn’t so sure of that.

Matze, sarcastically: „Well, that was a great success!“ Jo: „Yeah, so much for friendship between Internals and Externs.“

Narrator (audiobook): At least Robert granted Herr Bökh access to his wagon. He looks around lost in thought more or less, while Robert washes the dishes.

Dishes clatter. There is silence otherwise.

Justus stares wistfully at Robert while he washes the dishes.

Justus takes his eyes off Robert and starts looking around while Robert continues to ignore him.

Bökh: „I thought you were living in London.“ Nichtraucher: (silence) Bökh: „It's nice here.“ Nichtraucher: (silence)

Justus starts walking around.

Bökh: „I told the kids about our friendship.“ Nichtraucher: „As a cautionary tale?“ Bökh: (chuckles/scoffs) „No. Of course not.“

Narrator (audiobook): Bökh spots the poster of „the Bandits“, the same one hanging in his apartment.

Bökh: „The 'Wild Dog' that we always played in is still there.“

Nichtraucher: (silence)

Bökh: „Should we meet there sometime? For a beer?“

Robert looks up.

He lets out a small huff, almost like an incredulous laugh or a scoff.

He dries his hands on a towel and folds it.

Nichtraucher: (silence) Nichtraucher: „I don’t know what we would have to say to each other.“

Bökh: „Hm. Well. A lot of time has passed.“

Narrator (audiobook): Robert sits down at the table and lights himself a cigarette.

Justus turns as well and starts looking around again.

Nichtraucher: „Why didn’t you come to Marie’s funeral back then?“

Nichtraucher: „You didn’t even get in touch.“

[„You didn't even get in touch“ -> parallels to „And you never wanted to get in touch?“]

Justus is silent. He starts fiddling with his jacket and pulls it off his shoulder. He lets out a deep, shaky sigh and is silent for another few moments.

Bökh: „…I don’t know, you met her and… and suddenly you were gone.“

[Parallels to „suddenly your closest loved ones are gone“]

Bökh: „As if everything -our friendship, the band- as if that had all just been a dream.“

Justus turns around and looks at Robert.

Bökh: „Wir zwei. Wir hatten doch Pläne.“

Bökh: „That really hurt me.“ Nichtraucher: „It hurt you.“

Silence. Just the music.

Bökh: „Yes. Very much back then.“

The Nichtraucher lets out a soft incredulous laugh again, almost like a scoff.

Nichtraucher: „I see.“

Long silence. Justus stares out the window. Finally, he turns and walks to the door.

Bökh: „You know where to find me.“

Justus leaves the wagon. Robert nods to himself silently.

Narrator (audiobook): And with these words, Herr Bökh leaves his friend’s train wagon. If the two will ever see each other again?

i looked at the patch notes. there's some attempt at optmization clasps hands together I am very much anticipating going in and finding out if anything works better and if anything new and hilarious is broken

and there is such a big long list of bug fixes for drastic game-breaking bugs that i mostly never encountered after 2.5 playthroughs. i'm starting to think i have just had exceptional luck when playing this game

a selection of my favorites (the ones that sound funniest out of context)

Fixed a conditional blocker that caused Gollum to die if restarting during the beetle conflict. Increased the chase radius for the “Cruel Woman” chase to prevent save games where the player cannot keep up anymore. (never got this one but I came close oof) Fixed cog wheels spinning in random directions. Fixed nervous hands achievement behavior. Fixed a Game Over screen in the tutorial when restarting from the main menu during the chase sequence. Fixed a softlock in Shadow Mountains when jumping off a cliff during a checkpoint. Halls of Grond & Execution chambers - fixed and adjusted rotating wheels. Gollum Groom is now covered correctly by translucency while still respecting DOF and refraction. (his what) (Is this a mistranslation) (EDIT: I have had it pointed out that 'groom' is the word for rendered hair/fur so this is referring to Gollum's hair rendering! I did not see any markedly horrible issues with the hair outside of this one cutscene where it is briefly, obviously on the wrong layer or something but I also don't have all the visual effects enabled. I find it interesting that these notes are using so many 'untranslated' terms like 'groom' and also what are obviously the level names used by the team and not by the finished game. I am starting to think they don't have a PR person) Fixed possibility to end the Sewers without killing both orcs. (does this mean there's now a pacifist route or are you supposed to be required to kill the orcs & people were managing not to???? I didn't test this bc i just always murder every killable orc 😅 ) Solved the issue of no sound in the cutscene of Cook's death. (lmao i saw this but I just thought it was supposed to be like that/they didn't have any budget left to record a death noise) Fixed German conflict menu choice being displayed as French. Fixed blocked progress after the throttle tutorial when restarting from a checkpoint. Fixed Gollum floating at the beginning for Chapter 2. (?!?!) Fixed a softlock in Outer Gardens where Gollum would be detected immediately after spawning. (Aaahh. This I did encounter on 2nd playthrough and I don't remember how I got out of it. I think I restarted the level which was not a huge deal because the checkpoint was close to the start of the level) Fix for wall running not always triggering correctly. (This I probably did encounter and just thought I was hitting the wall at the wrong angle, because I frequently do just botch this) Riverpath fixed invisible 2 elves’ issue at the end of the level. (I DID GET THIS ONE ONCE and it was so funny, I think I have capture footage of it, I hope I do) Fixed fluctuating groom (?!?!?!!) when the game is paused. Adjusted the wrong Grashneg scale in Sewers. (don't think i ever saw this, am picturing Giant Grashneg) Fixed infinite Game Over screen in Construction Low when sweeping through a specific checkpoint. (definitely did not get this one. I would remember that.)

hi hello! i've been kinda snailing along but im ok!

i've been considering making a patreon for a while now actually! made an account and stuff, but the idea of committing to it has been pretty intimidating to me :') i think it'd be good for me if i could actually commit to it, but i rly don't have the best track record with sticking to things long term. i worry i wouldn't be able to see it through at the expense of my patrons.

so um honestly i'm a little ok with things getting taken down or whatnot, making a dedicated mature content account would be more of an experiment than anything! so if i find i like to do it but have trouble with tumblr as a platform i might move to someplace else. or if i end up drawing nudity but not rly anything sexually explicit i could just post it here with appropriate tags (pretty sure anyway, not sure how finicky the policy on that is here)
