i was watching an episode of everybody loves raymond today, one where debra finds out that ray makes “wife jokes” about her at work (like the stereotypical “i can’t stand the old ball and chain” type stuff). so she confronts him about it and he’s like. hey, don’t you make jokes about me to your friends? don’t you criticize the way i move my lips when i read (etc)?

and i’m watching this and in my mind i’m going. that’s fucking adorable and endearing; why would anyone make fun of that, especially when the person doing it is someone they love? and it made me think of the story with your wife and the game boy. with ray’s joke theory, he would definitely rag on debra to his friends, talking about how she’s glued to the screen and it’s dorky to play video games or whatever. but you choose to see it as something endearing, not something to be ridiculed. and that kind of is just. sticking in my brain right now. like i think i want to make a conscious effort to view my loved ones they way you view your wife, not the way ray does when he’s joking about debra

and also part of the conflict of the episode was that debra made delicious braciole, and it was the first time in her life that she’d made something that everyone liked, and she was so fucking happy and proud of herself. and ray was too!! but then he goes to work and makes jokes about it, says that braciole is the italian word for roadkill etc.

and debra confronts him about this, like, if you loved my cooking and were proud of me, why did you make mean jokes about it? and ray says, well that wouldn’t spark any camaraderie in the office, you know? when allan says “hey how’s your wife doing” i can’t just say “she made me a lovely dinner last night” and walk to my desk. that would get no laughs.

and i immediately thought about you, how we all love hearing your positive stories about your wife and your love for her. that proves ray wrong. camaraderie doesn’t have to be founded on the criticizing of “the other” or whatever.

so yeah, those are my thoughts. :)

this drawing is pure self indulgence. Let’s say the Star Wars celebrations tired me out more than I though it would so I needed to... unwind a bit. Since my brain was still hyper with festivities, I ended up drawing main characters from the personal project I’m currently working on, as Star Wars characters.

Since my comics is basically set in a fantasy world, I didn’t need to redesign the character designs... I only had to come up with Star Wars-esque clothes (as you can see, fashion is not my forte).

I know it’s not the Regularly Scheduled Programming you’re used to... but it was needed.

I hope you’ll enjoy this small drawing nonetheless!

That CON VER SA TION WOWEEEE. So so needed and for so so long. Just gonna type my inital thoughts cause I want to and why not.

Laudna. Dear Laudna, oh you poor loveable naive dummy. (Said with so much love). She grew up alone. Yes she had her parents and maybe the odd friend here or there but she grew up alone. And then she died in the most horrific way, alone. She woke up alone. She then spent 30 years of her life alone- but this time even more so with her own killer in her head feeding her.

And then she met Imogen, beautiful capable Imogen. A light in her lonely life, the first real light. Now she’s seen Imogen grow in power, in confidence. And she feels like her loneliness, her insecurity, her own head is bringing the love of her life down. She thinks she’s keeping her from flying but she doesn’t realize she’s keeping her from flying too high.

Imogen has been on step away from falling in with Predathos since she first felt the pull. The only thing, just like the words out of Imogen’s lips, the only thing that’s keeping her grounded is Laudna. Imogen’s heart is out walking around as a dead but not so dead woman with a rat bird as a familiar. Without her she’s, well we saw, she’s desperate. Willing to bargain with the her love’s killer to get her back. She’s sleeping with her dead body and ready to fight the Lord and Lady of Whitestone, the city of Whitestone. She tore down a city block, she exhalted, she crawled into hell after her. Laudna is Imogen’s tether, her red thread wrapped around her wrist, without her there isn’t.

Without Imogen- Laudna doesn’t have her light, her anchor keeping her from falling back into the dark.

Without Laudna Imogen flies too high never to be seen again.

They’re co-dependent. They’re ready to destroy the world to get the other back. They never want to leave one another. They want to protect each other above all else- the gods, Predathos, Exandria be damned.

They’re also scared.

Laudna is scared she’s holding Imogen down.

Imogen is scared Laudna will leave her and fall away.

They’re ride or die in the worst and best ways. I’m so curious to see how their story goes. I’d like to believe they have a happy ending though. Maybe. Probably not, but hey it’s good to have some hope and crazier things have happened eh? It’s D&D after all.

Oh gosh anon I’m sorry you’re in need of a day brighter. I don’t know if this is what you had in mind, but she really likes to fish. She doesn’t normally catch much, but she enjoys it even when she doesn’t catch anything at all. She went out a couple weeks ago on a day off and finally caught a trout (which she’d never done before)—I was at work, but she sent pictures of the whole process (from it being on the hook all the way to preparing it at home) and had me cook it for dinner.

I love that she has things she loves so much she goes out of her way to make time for them, and I love that she shares them with me even when I can’t be there.

I truly believe that Alastor is scarier than Lucifer? Like ofc Lucifer is stronger and all that power scaling-wise, considering he's literally the Biggest Bad Of All Time, but this version of Lucifer has expressed how disappointed he is in humans because they're bad. I don't think he's the type to kill or go all Machiavelli on someone unless he really, really needs to. He's shown as an optimistic, kind, generally good-hearted and goofy guy.

But on the other hand you have Alastor, who kinda makes up his own rules as he goes. Like you've seen him be super nice when he wants to, but that's not his default setting. He likes to eat people?? He's LITERALLY a serial killer?? He has no limits other than the ones he puts on himself, and that's an actual villain.

So yeah yeah Lucifer is strong enough to like cause a nuclear winter but it doesn't really matter because he'll never use it!!

Anyway what I'm saying is that if Alastor were ever to get into a radioapple-style thing with Lucifer I'm pretty sure he could play the king of hell like a fiddle and destroy all of hell if he wanted to. And that's terrifying, and that's why he's scarier than Lucifer.
