“Failed Revolution”

Got an ask about their designs and decided to draw everyone!

Ask and notes on designs under the cut.

B2J: May lost her right arm so she uses a fuzzy sock to keep it warm. She has gained quite a collection of socks. She also cut her hair in solidarity with Zuke who had most of his hair cut off for head surgery, which is where he got the head scar from.

Zuke can’t close his left hand at all because of tendon damage. He also can’t walk long distances without a cane, which he could only afford a pretty cheap one but it gets the job done.

Tatiana/Kliff/West: Not much changes with their designs. Tatiana is just a bit more skinny, Kliff has a few white hairs, and West is a bit more unkempt (I also didn’t want to draw the pattern on his coat so yeah).

West also hasn’t found time to redo his henna tattoos so those are all gone right now. Plus he wears shoes a bit more.

DJSS: Still debating if Nova works for NSR at this moment, but whether they do or don’t, they aren’t dressing to impress anymore. Losing a lot of motivation, he just puts on one of his DJSS jackets that was defective and had no space designs to it (but still looks like his show jacket). His arms are also more noodle-y because he doesn’t try to keep them firm anymore. Space dust seeps out of the small cracks that have yet to be fully healed on his head. Because of this, no color is in their head, but it all seeps outside into the air.

Sayu (and Crew): Sayu is much more simple, both for animation sake and to ease the people of Vinyl City of her roboticness. She is also much smaller when she is out in the real world as a hologram. Tila, Remi, and Dodo all have longer hair (Dodo less so, but it’s still longer). Tila wears a long dress that she puts her jacket from canon over. Remi isn’t out publicly as transmasc yet but he doesn’t wear any kinds of dresses or skirts even though people around him expect him to. Not much changes for Dodo and Sofa except Dodo has a cybernetic voice/neck while Sofa is a bit more skinny because of an eating disorder/forced dieting from family.

Yinu and Mama: (I know it’s out of order, but I wanted to keep Neon+1010 next to each other). No longer are these two wearing any kind of red. Mama wears yellow to represent her keeping Yinu in her heart but also the flower lace shows how delicate their relationship is right now. Yinu on the other hand wears yellow and a full suit to be closer to her dad while avoiding any reds to stay away from her mother. Both of them have rooted hair, with Yinu’s roots being more wilted stems while Mama’s are just full on roots. Yinu still has a few flowers hanging onto her hair, but they lose petals a lot and will one day fully fall off if she doesn’t get some help in her life.

1010 and Neon: 1010 all have the same body with the same while lights. The only difference are the ties they wear and their heads. They have fully metal hair. Blue does not wear any sunglasses. Neon has a human head and does not wear his fluff unless going somewhere that might rain or get a bit chilly. He does not wear his medals, but does wear his wedding ring on a necklace under his sweater. He also doesn’t wear too much colors because he doesn’t see the point in it since he works with a lot of oily/messy machines (it’s easier to take off a jacket than de-oil-stain a sweater).

Eve: Eve still bases a lot of her outfit on Zuke like she originally did, but now she also bases it off of Tatiana. She tries to hide her red/pinkish skin under henna, mirrors, and crystals. She keeps illusion eyes out to help her keep watch of things around her. The peacock feathers and skirt are supposed to kinda look like a wedding dress, or the very least a fancy ball gown, to show she is married to her job (and to the ideas of people she has in her head). Also the glitter/stars on her skirt is mainly to piss off Nova (especially if he quit/was fired) because this is her way of saying she is better than him, as I feel the two’s relationship has gotten sour over the years.

ও Team SAYU Headcanons

They've been best friends for years, but they disagree on how to do things quite often. They normally never fight, though, just disagree and find a different way to go about things that everyone can agree to. This often takes much longer than going through one of their plans would take in the first place, but they get there eventually.

If they all wholeheartedly agree to something, then that means there's major trouble for any adult within their vicinity.

If there's ever trouble, blame Remi. He is completely devious. He is just a mischievous little bugger that is always up to something he shouldn't be and has something up his sleeve. He actively goes around telling people that he's the artist behind Sayu. No one believes him. He finds this hilarious.

Tila doesn't, at all. She has a mini heart attack and goes a mile deep into her sweater whenever he does this. He tries to reassure her that everything's fine, 'cause no one ever takes them seriously. Tila takes everything seriously. Literally, sarcasm isn't exactly her forte. Analogies are, though! Despite how quiet and reserved she normally is, she's extremely quick on the draw in terms of witty responses, then goes right back to her music.

Dodo usually plays this off as a joke and affectionately leans half his body weight on her to let her know it's okay. That, or wraps her up in a major hug and starts going through his stretches while holding her like a weight. He can and Will snatch up any other member and make a break for it at any given opportunity. Outside of him randomly doing laps and exercising, he'll lounge around like a corpse. One or the other, no other options.

Sofa joins in Remi's scandals, because he also finds this hilarious. He'll feed Remi ideas and correct him at times, but only so much as to make sure Remi "does it best." The only times he'll reel Remi in is if he's about to get them all in trouble. Sofa feels that he knows better than Remi, and just lets him think he's the brains of this organization.

Whenever Sofa and Remi get into their "battle of wits" for long enough, Dodo nudges Tila to get her attention. She shrugs off her headphones, listens for about five seconds, then blurts out something that sends the two boys cackling and goes back to whatever she was doing before. Dodo keeps a track record of events like this to see who comes out on top.

Tila always wins.

"Sofa!"

The small ginger man called out in a state of rush. They had an advertising deal and he had to find his big friend. He checked the kitchen, seeing Sofa binging on some chips while scrolling through his phones.

Sofa sensed himself being watched and looked over.

"Oh hey Remi! What's up?" he wondered.

"We have that ad deal we gogta do," Remi grabbed his arms as he explained. He got Sofa to his feet and dragged him to the recording room as Sofa tapped the last few crumbs and salt from the bottom of the bag. "We need to get it done before tomorrow afternoon and we gotta go over the script again, check for bugs, do voice over practice, and work on the movements! We have too much to do to be dillydallying!"

Sofa nodded, now understanding the situation. In the pink padded room, Tila was drinking some juice, adjusting her microphone. Dodo was stretching, getting ready, finishing with hopping in place. "Okay!" Remi announced, everyone gazing at him. "Let's do this one more time! Dodo, watch your footing, Tila stay hydrated, Sofa."

He grabbed a snack cake from the editor's hand. "No snacks until we're done."

"Awww no fun…"

Still, Sofa took his place behind his desk, computer screen turned on and the program ready. Then, without Remi looking, he opened a drawer and took out a few licorice ropes, nibbling on them.

"Tila."

"Ready!" Tila gave a nod, giving what seems to be a thumbs up. Or it could be her flipping him off. It was hard to tell with her long sleeves.

"Dodo."

"Mmhmm," he merely acknowledged the callout. He drank down an energy drink called 'Pastel Pearls.' It was a Sayu branded drink.

"Sofa."

"Yup!" Sofa quickly swallowed his food before talking. He was not going to get caught eating, even though he knew he could sneak in a bon bon every now and then. However… "Um wait…"

Everyone looked in his direction as he looked at his computer screen. He… didn't see Sayu pop up. She usually did when ready for advertising. She loved it! But… his screen was empty and blank. "Sayu… where is Sayu?"

Remi looked at Sofa as if he was eating a shoe and rushed over. There were folders of designs, coding screens on the side, a tap for animes to watch this summer, but… no Sayu.

"Sayu!?"

Remi was a perfectionist. If one line in his drawing was out of place, then it was ruined. He could tear it up, no matter the progress made on it. So Sayu not showing up was like the world was ending. "Are you kidding me!? Is she sick!? Hurt!? What's going on!?"

"I'll send her a message," Sofa offered. He opened a notepad, added some coding, then typed. 'Hey Sayu! :3 Remi is kiiiinda freaking out :O Where are you? Are you hurt? <:( Please let us know (that was supposed to be sad eyebrows, not a hat)'

He waited, Remi clutching his chair. It had taken fair abuse from Remi's stress, from being squeezed until chunks were missing to being thrown against the wall from many many many coding errors. Then, a text was sent back.

'I'm not doing the ad'

"What!?" Remi clutched his hair, threatening to rip it out of his scalp. Tila quickly ran over and gently held his hands, then looked at Dodo.

"Dodo?"

He came over and offered his arm, Remi squeezing it, fingernails digging into his skin.

"Huh? Maybe she's sick…" Sofa thought. But then Sayu appeared on the screen. She had a pout on her face, arms crossed and a glare in her eye. Well, half a glare. She was too cute to be scary.

"I don't wanna!" she grunted.

"Why not?" Tila asked. "Are you sick?"

"Nu uh! I just don't wanna!"

"Are you hurt?" Dodo winced, Remi still squeezing the life out of his arm.

"No! I just don't wanna!"

"Why…!?" Sofa begged to know. She only puffed her cheeks and turned away, sticking her nose up. Sofa tried calling her, but she didn't respond. He used his mouse to click on her, but when that got a giggle from the little mermaid… he smiled.

"Now Sayu… if you can't think of a reason to tell us, I can't think of a reason to not tickle you," he pointed out with glee. The others matched his face, Remi even loosening his grip. Sofa dug into his desk and got out three more mice, distributing them among his friends.

"N-no you can't! I-I'm not ticklish! You can't get me if I'm not ticklish! Can you!?"

"Not ticklish?" Dodo sneered. "Well why are you scared if you're not ticklish? Surely, you shouldn't be afraid."

"Yeah! If you're not, then you know this will end very quickly!" Tila giggled.

"Or you could tell us what's going on," Remi added. But when she didn't react to that with nothing but a huff, they knew what had to be done.

Dodo moved his mouth first to get to the end of her tail, clicking it rapidly. She breathed in with a gasp, but held her breath. 

Sofa chuckled softly and ran his mouse over her belly, clicking and holding it, making it feel like a finger being dragged across her skin.

"EEEEE!!!! Noohohohooo! Staahahahaap!!!" she wiggled in place.

"Oh! So you ARE ticklish!" Remi snickered. He used his mouth to tickle her neck all around. She tried to grab it to make it stop, but he kept moving it. Neck, sides, armpits, neck, cheek, belly, sides, all random order. She couldn't keep up.

Tila was the last to tickle her, but she held up one of Sayu's arms, smiling at Sofa. He grinned back and scrolled up and down her sides, up to her armpit and down to her hip. This created a bubbly squeal from her lips, trying to use her free arm to wave off the mice. But Dodo grabbed her other hand and held it up, Remi enjoying exploring her other side. Now she was more vulnerable than before.

"Staaaahaahahahahaahaaaaap!!! Pleeheeheeheeheease!!! T-too-eeheeheeheee!!! Too muhuhuhuhuch!! T-t-teeheheeheeeckles!! Teeheheeheeckles!!!"

"Mm campaign on calling tickles teeheeckles? Say aye," Dodo smiled with a devious look in his eyes. This would only fluster Sayu further.

"Aye," Tila nodded.

"Aye," Sofa agreed.

"Aye!" Remi piped up.

"Nuuhuuhuuhuu!!" Sayu was the only one who disagreed, but they knew they would do it anyway.

They poked and clicked at random places, getting different reactions from her. Sides? She screamed out in wheezy spurts. Ribs? She jolted at every rib ribbed. Belly? She almost melted into the touch, but still pretended to shy away, but she was no actor.

The best spot they liked to tease was her back. She would gasp and scream, bending backwards, making her belly exposed. This caused one of them to tickle her belly in circles. This made her jolt forward, but then the same person got into her back. She would flop around like a fish at this point.

"You have such an angelic laughter, Sayu," Remi beamed.

She could only snort.

"Such a bubbly sound!" Tila added.

She squealed and blushed.

"Adorable fishy squirmies…!" Sofa piped in.

She could only squirm more, as if answering his comment.

"And the cutest mermaid we've ever known."

"OKAAHAHAHAHAY!!! OKAY I'M BEHEHEHEHEHETTER!!! I'M BETTER!!! PLEEHEEHEEHEEHEEASE!!!"

They all looked at each other, nodding respectfully and stopping. She curled in a heap of giggly madness.

"Heh we'll let you rest, Sayu," Remi told her. "I should call the studio and tell them we'll have to put back the date."

"Oh thank god!" Sofa breathed a sigh of relief. He took out some snack cakes and crammed them into his mouth.

"Hey lemme have one!" Tila gasped. He ran off with his arms full, Tila bolting after him. Dodo followed, his legs hurting from standing so long.

"Y-you… you don't want to know what's wrong…?" she asked Remi before he left. He could only grin and boop her nose with the mouse.

"Nah… I know you get like this sometimes. It happens every week," he told her.

"... Oh…" she looked away, ashamed. But he quickly put a smile on her face by poking her belly.

"Hey I still love you…!" he assured her. "You're my creation… my daughter even! No matter what, you'll always by my Sayu."

With a giggle subsiding, a bright smile took over her face as she hugged the mouse.

"Thanks… dad," her eyes sparkled with tears of happiness.

"Of course, my fishy."

NSR AU for Welcome Home. Check it-

I Don't have everyone down, but i can tell you for sure that:

• Poppy will be taking Yinu's placing, maybe as the mother and a child is a little chick, i'm still considering it

• Mayday and Zuke are replaced by Y/N, but.. A Y and an N. Maybe they'll be twins instead of the whole best buds? I'm unsure of this, but hmhm-

• Barnaby is DK West, good friend to Wally, likely goes by BB Beagle

• Howdy will take the place as DJ Zam since it feels the most fitting based off of the canon voice, besides i don't think there is much of an actual shop?

• Julie and her family ars actually Dodo, Remi, Sofa, and Tila! They just happened to make it based off of Julie herself since she was the friendliest face out of all four of them.

On the other hand, so far i do have a few of the others planned out, and i will likely be doing a full in depth drawing for everyone soon..

I'm thinking along the lines of the Game, and that Vinyl City is actually Vinyl Neighborhood (even if it is still a bit large)

Home is bitter towards Wally, but he really doesn't understand why. It's basically the same between them as it is Tatiana and Kliff themselves. (THE FACT THAT TATIANA CALLS KLIFF A PIECE OF PLA K FEELS SO FITTING FOR THIS PLEASE)

Barnaby will be a good friend of Wally, of course, and Wally will still desire order like Tatiana, but it was likely because the entirety of NSR in this universe had been together, but stress got to Wally, Sally let her dramatic attitude take over, and pretty much everyone just.. Had a big fall out. They still struggle to power the city, and it may be because someone is tampering with Wally's life even further after all was said and done.

Anyhow, this will take some more time to fix together

BIG ASS LIST OF FSAMILY HCS GO

Mayday

Has a mom, dad, and two younger sisters. She grew up in Natura in a pretty high-up family, dad is a finance worker in the nsr building and mom is part of the Natura management. They were quite strict, only showing their support for rock when it was more stable in vinyl city, but now prefer her sisters' enjoyment for EDM. As she got older, she clashed with them, and eventually left their home when she dropped out of college. She hasn't spoken to them, but does talk to her sisters.

Zuke

Has a Mom and Dad, with west obviously. He isn't from vinyl city, but a kampung on the outskirts, though it still was under nsr's domain. His kampung (and many others) faced the worst of the blackouts because of their distance from the city and their limited resources, so everyone there is a bit weary of nsr. His family is quite large, and they all have shadow puppets. His mom is a second-generation jamacian immigrant.

DJSS //tw toxic parent

Raised by a single mom. His whole childhood, she would lecture him about him mattering in the world and making great art to make her proud. She essentially only praised him when he made very impressive music, and was ashamed of him when he quit his teaching career. She has recently remarried, has a wife now.

Sayu kids

keeping it simple bc there's so many of them Tila has a single dad and three older sisters, remi is an only child with a mom and dad, Dodo is a single child with a single mom (taken from a friennd mwahaha), and sofa has a mom and dad, and older brother.

Yinu

We know who her parents are, so grandparents. Yinu's mom has 4 older sisters, and the whole family are plant people. Mama's mother is dominican, and her father is malay. Yinu's dad, on the other hand, has a younger sister and was mainly raised by his mother and mystery man. His father was a fauna person (wereanimal), his mother was a plant person. his dad is mexican and his mom is dominican-malay. (Taken from a friend mwahahaha)

Neon J

He had a single mom and littler sister. Growing up, he was the self-appointed man of the house (though he was born a girl), which contributed to his heroic tendencies. Learned to make toys to comfort his sister. He hasn't seen her or their mother in decades, and he doesn't know where they are.

Eve //toxic parent, ableism

Grew up relatively rich with a mom and dad. Her dad was laid-back and tried his best to understand his daughter, her mom, not so much. Very much a pro-masking parent, "why can't you be normal" type mom. She was also the one that instilled her skin dysmorphia as a teen. Currently, she is in contact with her father, but her mother is trying to leech off her newfound popularity. (Taken from a friend, with some of my own hcs)

Tatiana

Mystery Man is her twin brother. She often rebelled against their parents, especially when they would force her to be girlier and discourage her interest in rock and metal (Taken from a friend). Their mother was made of opal, and their father was obsidian. Mystery man himself is made of sedimentary rock.

Okay I have had thoughts about NSR Pokemon teams before and haven't really shared other than DMs. So here, fandom neighbor, take a long read and hopefully get some inspiration.

Spoilers spoilers spoilers!

First off DJSS, with a narrative around studying the universe and trying to feel significant in it, I think would have pokemon from space. Deoxys, Minior, Elgyem, and such.

Perhaps during his time in the academic field, he had opportunity to meet and research rare pokemon, or at the least to be reading about them. Even if he doesn't train something like Ultra Beasts, I think he'd be caught up on the latest science regarding pokemon from or using the power of space or other dimensions.

Of Bunk Bed Junction, I think the more likely of the two to train an Ellie-equivalent would be Mayday, but Ellie could also be a non-battling companion they share. A crocodilian pokemon to match the animal she is, I would think. I personally lean towards Totodile for color and personality.

Mayday is the hard hitter in game, and her "fight now talk later" attitude leads me to think she'd be the kind of trainer who prefers to specialize in Attack, Special Attack, and Speed, to KO opponents in one or two hits. So pokemon of that kind of specialty, or evolved pokemon because she enjoys training and battling.

May also seems to like cute things! So I could see her getting attached to cute pokemon, whether or not she adopts them herself. I think she'd especially enjoy pokemon that look cute but a bit rugged, and battle well.

Both because of her personality and her adoration of Kul Fyra, I think she'd get along well with and have a love for Fire types. Scorbunny->Cinderace I see as a great ace pokemon for her. Chimchar or Fletchling too.

Sayu squad I think would have pokemon relevant to their specialties. Spinda, Jigglypuff, Porygon, Smeargle. Any of them I could see liking Eevee/eeveelutions. Tila seems like she'd have an affinity for fairy types. Sofa I would think would be more inclined to technology related pokemon like Rotom and Porygon, or perhaps to Shinx (it's cute, sparky, and its final form has x ray vision).

For Sayu herself, I think she'd have Water type pokemon. She might be a "friend to all creatures" type with attention given especially to Water types and ocean pokemon. For a companion, though, I'm inclined towards Gorebyss and Luvdisc.

Grookey. Now evolved into Rillaboom. For Zuke. Obviously, the drums connection. Grookey is a fun and friendly pokemon too, and that works with Zuke's chill "let's not get into a fight unless necessary" personality. I think he'd easily befriend pokemon, but he's not much of a battler, so he doesn't actually own a lot of pokemon, nor have a huge battle team. Those he does train though, I think would be powerful, and he might work more with Defense, HP, and Special Attack.

(I think it'd be cute too if Grookey had been a gift from West, as his brother is the reason Zuke got into music)

I don't know if 1010 themselves would have pokemon, or if they did if it would be more as like promotional art/music sets rather than actually owning/training (depends on how you feel about 1010 being sentient vs just robots). Eeveelutions or Pikaclones I think would be fitting, something where they each are represented by a different pokemon but across the board have something similar.

(or perhaps dog pokemon, mostly because I just had the thought of Yellow having a little Maschiff for its silly face. Red may have a stereotypical "mean" one like Houndour)

I once saw some sick Neon J art with a Dhelmise so now I love that.

Neon has an affinity for technology clearly, so Steel or Electric types, or mechanical pokemon such as Klinklang would work well with him.

Depending on how you headcanon him as disabled, he may also have a companion pokemon or two (battling or not) that could help him. Like a sturdy pokemon small enough to walk with him but big enough to be of support for mobility, or pokemon with great or special senses to help him navigate visually impaired, psychic pokemon to relay information where he has difficulty.

Grass types are a pretty clear choice for Yinu and Mama, as they have plant powers. Budew,Roselia, or Roserade for either of them (though Mama is more likely to have an evolved form and Yinu a smaller form).

Yinu is still a child. She likely doesn't have many pokemon yet, and the ones she has are probably still in their first or maybe second stage. She might have a "prestigious" pokemon like Mincinno or a musically inclined pokemon like Chatot.

And if you have any ideas for Papa's pokemon, then perhaps either Yinu or Mama have that pokemon with them.

Eve would likely get along with Psychic type pokemon. I think she could get interested in Pokemon Contests where showing off your pokemon's powers in unique ways is important. So for battling she probably plans ahead with status moves and abilities, and using moves like Trick Room.

Eve would probably share a close bond with her pokemon as she wants to understand them as well as she can, so she could befriend even "weird" pokemon.

Zorua/Zoruark would work well with her space changing abilities as they can create illusions and disguises.

Tatiana for her history may have Fire type pokemon. Dragon types would also work well for her as they take patience to train and she would probably put a lot of time into raising and training a powerful pokemon. Noivern and Charizard are my first instinct for her.

Since she's hidden her past, it's possible she may have retired some pokemon she previously battled with - keeping them as companions but not showing them in public so nobody figures out who she is. She probably was a skilled and popular battler as Kul Fyra - and likely still is, but now with different pokemon that won't be as recognizable to the public.

Ya know what just got to me

While I was busy writing my reply to Civilian!AU anon, I started to notice how many absolute CLOWNS in NSR are wearing sunglasses at night.

#nsr #yes there are night time glasses #for glare and things #and ya know in place with so many bright lights i'd believe that several people would use something like that #but they seem to be specifically for driving #which none of these characters do #yiruk *might* be wearing gunner glasses since they're tinted yellow #but i'd need to hear it first hand to believe it #because sometimes things in this game are just colored because it looks cool #zed's glasses are tinted yellow/green too #but they're clearly meant to be prescription and the opaqueness is a design choice #like when anime characters have their glasses be totally white #it's the same thing #that said that might mean daphne & jan are also wearing perscription glasses #because the trend is prescription glasses can be transparant or opaque #(see barbara. kliff. sofa. remi. and tila for other perscription glasses users) #while the other 3 sunglasses are opaque in art #they could be the exception but #since jan is looking through his camera with his glasses on #then they might be perscription #because i figure if you're taking a picture you would take sunglasses off so you can see how it's going to turn out #but they're clearly posing for the camera so who knows #gbunny scraps
