This post is part of my ongoing record for the new (to me) anime I watch in 2023. I'm excited to see what new shows and films I discover as this list grows through the year.
I guess it's time for another theme month. I rewatched Haikyuu the last week of July and got pumped up to watch more sports anime. So, this month I'm focused on anime about sports. There are some new shows listed but, I also rewatched some of my favorites.
Number24 (2020) episodes: 12 started: 8-11-23 finished: 8-12-23 rating: 7/10 note: I knew very little about rugby before watching this show, that's still the case after watching it too.
natsusa yuzuki was a really fun and well written character and the whole number24 anime was hella fun
what i love about the anime is that it didnt end with natsusa suddenly being able to play or even letting him play it at all. it also didnt give natsu that much control over the club which was refreshing for a change cuz you would expect that the writers would do so
natsusa was also a character that isnt afraid to be a bitch. he's the embodiment of "it's my way or the highway" and you dont get to see this much in most shows
the way they approached the emotional aspect of the show was also well done. they didnt let it control the whole plot but also gave importance to it in the story. in terms of how they got the character to handle it, it was a satisfying conclusion when natsusa accepted the kid that was hurt inside of him but continued to push on and fight albeit in a different way
what i dont like about the story however is that IT'S TOO SHORT AND NEEDS 3 MORE SEASONS. I DEMAND 3 MORE SEASONS OF NATSUSA YUZUKI BEING A BAD BITCH
but seriously they really need a new season for number24 like i want to know how their nationals would go and how the characters are getting more explored
really hope that the animators and producers and director wokld consider picking up this anime for a continuation, even just for a satisfying conclusion for the show
I'm about to go way, way back to a show that definitely slipped underneath ALL your radars: number24. It was a magical rugby anime chock-full of beautiful boys, fujoshi bait, and actual plot. Mind you, I had no idea how rugby even worked but I was seriously beyond excited at every action scene. The dialogue?? HILARIOUS. This show knew what it was doing with a female audience and the main character was shockingly snarky as hell.
I really can't put into words how wonderful the bromance vibes were. I am beginning to realize anime writers know exactly what they're doing with the animation there. It went to some extreme levels to bait me but I was digging every moment. Now, if that's not your vibe, you can still enjoy the character dynamics, friendships ("friends"...), and the "you can do it!" when it comes to beating rival teams. Mix in some fierce competition and tragic backstory.
I binged the entire show in a single day and... #noregrets. Your turn! Come back and tell me what you thought about that certain church scene...
Man if I had a nickel for every time that everyone wanted one of the shortest men in their universe and fought over him I'd have 3 (if not more) nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happens that much (not counting the ones I forgot)
including all things I didn't notice in my first watch or just moments I like (mostly the latter)
YOU CAN SEE KAZUTAKA IN THE PICTURE OF NATSU+SEI+IBUKI+YASUNARI'S OLD TEAM
Fuuga's also there
Ethan having a type (cough cough Ibuki cough cough)
Ibuki get the woken up but his cat biting him is the best event of episode 1 (of course it's the ginger one that's going feral)
the rest of these from from Episode two-
He's so fucking precious. LOOK AT HIS FACE HES SO CUTE
Natsu scheming to get Ibuki back. I wonder how this is going to go(Natsu being Natsu part 1)
Natsu being Natsu part 2
Ibuki the reason has everything to do with Natsu, stop lying to yourself you goober
The pure fear and concern in Ibuki's eyes absolutely breaks my heart. It just shows how much he cares despite the fact this is probably their first time talking in ~six months, Ibuki never worrying about Natsu
Natsu being Natsu part 3. Casually bringing up his major injury in front of the person who quit their favourite sport since they feel like they caused said injury, then just swapping tones to continue being a persistent little bitch because he quit.
Ibuki QUIT BREAKING MY HEART. Chris Hackey honestly does an amazing job voicing Ibuki though, the delivery on the lines where Ibuki is truly vulnerable is just perfect, makes me tear up.
Mikan and Toriten. Because I said so
Natsu beating up Ibuki's brother for the win (Natsu being Natsu part 4?)
I love the main lot all having the animal hoodies, and the fact Ibuki has the same wolf logo on his helmet is my favourite thing
Ibuki being pretty despite being distress, part 1
That fact the subtitles cut the line off make me fucking lose it
Also the answer is yes, Sunao
Ibuki being pretty despite being distress part 2
Ibuki's realisation was the build up of this episode and it's done SO WELL. The line delivery is perfect, havinf Natsu being on a higher level than Ibuki makes it better, Natsu starting to shake at the end? It's all just perfect! (Ibuki being pretty despite being distressed confused)
Smol
Seiichirou watching his boyfriend get back with their ex after said ex broke up with him over the phone because they got in a motorcycle accident together.
Does anyone watch the anime Number 24 too? Because I'm currently watching it and damn, is it really not BL? The amount of bromance in there is just too much, my heart can't take it. I just ship Natsu and Sei so much... 😭😭😭
And I definitely recommend watching it (I mean if you're comfortable with bromance; because there really is a lot of bromance there), it's a really good anime.
I am once again watching number24. I love this anime. Everything's so beautiful and kinds cute. Their relationships are the best. I dont dislike any of the characters and Natsusa and his harem stole my entire heart. Also the English and dub are currently freely available on YT and I believe it's on funimation.
If you ever checked out The Prince of Tennis sometimes down the line way back, it’s something like that. Except it’s football. This is pretty awesome. Weather if you’re a sports fan or not, I think you’re going to love this. For all you can watch 12 ep’s of anime. Another week of series, another beautiful moment. And yeah, beautiful OST along it’s way.
After I finished viewing that, I’d immediately checked out the 1st ep of this being wanting to be a guitarist and get awesome on it. Also featured playing in a band. I’m really blown away. I got a feeling this will be hard sugoi.
The title is “Given”. Which reminds me, I actually need to resume Beck Mongolian Chop Squad. It’s literally been a decade that I’ve been putting that on hold as one of my backlog.
I wanna make headcanons about my new favorite harem lead, Natsusa ;;;; I love him so much and I need to befriend homies for this fandom. I’ve been trying to get my friend’s into the show, but it hasn’t been working :( Please someone, give me the strength to write about my favorite boy
