I've been watching the new Alone in the Dark in snatches (and jumping from channel to channel bc almost nobody has a full play through) and the treatment center that everything's happening in is called Decerto (which I think is "for certain" in something Spanish-adjacent) but you know what it sounds like?? It sounds like "desierto"-- desert. Meanwhile Jeremy's talking about getting trapped in a "desert prison..." I have a gut feeling this place is at least an extension of that prison if not actually the tip of it poking out into reachable reality. And if that's the case the time/space shifts we're experiencing may not be individuals hopping out of their actual physical location, but rather the house itself moving or presenting different surroundings a la the Howls Moving Castle doors.

#also nobody I've watched is paying attention to the cast #they've all found Elisabetta in bed and been like “who's that?” and I'm like "we read her file she was part of the artist colony Helloooo“ #in my other impressions so far #I don't think Grace is real or human #and might actually be nyarlathhotep #if thats right and my decerto = prison idea is right that would basically make her a warden patrolling a prison playing with the inmates #also I think although he's set up to appear sympathetic that Jeremy's actually doing a lot of harm and all the deaths so far are his fault #but that he thinks it's OK bc it's to prevent a worse alternative #alone in the dark 2024 #alone in the dark spoilers #liveblogging adventures

so the residents at Decerto are involved in a cult of shubb-niggurath, and considering they were named for astarte I'm assuming the artist colony was too? And Jeremy can break his contract with nyarlathhotep if he helps unleash "her." I think Grace is some kind of entity but a little girl is a weird representation for a dark fertility goddess...
