73 questions.
I was tagged by @enchantedamusedslightlyconfused
I tag @iamdorka  @xwonderlandxinxhellx @mrs-machinegun-norris (you’re my top three recommended tags)
On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you about life right now?
Like, a 5? I’m at a point in my life that I can go in any direction so I have a lot of freedom and choice. But, I have no idea where I want to be going so I’m in limbo and that makes me anxious...
Describe yourself in a hashtag?
#backoftheroomandnotbelonging
I use it to tag any content I’m posting and Tumblr is typically where I’m the most honest.
If you could do a love scene with anyone, who would it be?
Oooo I don’t know
Colson? Yungblud, maybe Mod Sun as well...
Definitely Colson though - that man is a dream 👀
If your life was a musical, what would the marquee say?
I genuinely don’t have the foggiest...
What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
I’ve done pole fitness since I was 14.
What’s your wake up ritual?
Wake up, check the number of notifications I have on my phone, have a wash, get dressed, makeup, breakfast.
What’s your go to bed ritual?
PJs, have a wash, music, lights out, music, fanfiction, daydream, pass out.
What’s your favourite time of day?
Anytime between 2:00 and 4:30 in the morning. It’s when my house is guaranteed to be asleep so I’m finally able to just stop and be me.
Your go to for having a good laugh?
I don’t actually remember the last time I had a good laugh...
KellyVision makes me chuckle though.
Dream country to visit?
America. It’s kinda cliche but oh well. Definitely hitting up Cleveland for EST Fest and maybe NYC. Probably would wanna go to an amusement park as well - I just have this idea that they’re very different to British ones.
And NZ! My cousins are there and together? We’re hurricanes.
What’s the biggest surprise you’ve had?
This is one of those questions that I suddenly can’t think of an answer for.
Maybe @xwonderlandxinxhellx?
I don’t even remember how we started talking but I never thought (I dreamed but never thought) that I would actually make a friend on Tumblr.
So, thank you 🖤
Heels or flats/sneakers?
CONVERSE! I will die in my Chucks.
That being said, ya girl loves feeling herself in heels. I can’t do normal heels so I have these block heel brogues that I adore.
Vintage or new?
I adore the vintage style but sizing often isn’t on my size.
Also love some dark punk grunge clothing.
Who do you want to write your obituary?
I don’t want an obituary.
When I die I want that to be it. No funeral, no nothing.
Style icon?
Colson, Dom?
I’m very into aesthetics that I could never really pull off.

My glasses
My headphones
The Bloom album (quite literally in this case)
What’s one ingredient you put in everything?
Mixed herbs or sweetcorn.
Love Worcestershire Sauce as well.

Colson Baker (needs a heartwarming homecooked meal)
And there are probably others but none that really spring to mind.
My mum, to thank her?
What’s your biggest fear in life?
Fear of isolation
I’m not scared of being abandoned (if you do that to me then you’re doing me a favour)
But I am scared of closing myself off to people that could be there for me and letting things get bad and consume me again.
Window or aisle seat?
Aisle seat!
I like looking at what’s going on about me.
And it’s odd but I also don’t hate the inconvenience of getting up to let people pass.
What’s your current TV obsession?
Roadies.
And nothing else will ever match it. It’s a crime it was cancelled before a second season.
Favourite app?
Tumblr, followed closely by Pinterest.
I think it’s because they’re spaces that are specifically for your interests, dreams, all that mess in your head and I vibe with that.
Secret talent?
I’m not very talented, not gonna lie.
I can rap all of Breaking News which I feel is impressive?
Most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?

My Adder Technology jumper is my favourite oversized item.
Black ripped jeans.
Must have clothing item everyone should have?
Brown leather belt. I don’t know why but I’ll never go back.
Superpower you would want?
Power of time? Just to like slow it down. I feel like I don’t have enough time to do anything so to slow it down and get shit done would be great. Or just to give myself a minute to breathe. We don’t get enough ‘time out’s in life.
What’s inspiring you in life right now?
Colson has always been inspiring to me.
He came into my life when I was 15 and literally saved it. He’s always going to mean that to me.
Best piece of advice you’ve received?
Mod Sun: I’ve always been a little bit reluctant to say I’m gonna be the best at something because I didn’t wanna disrespect other people, like ‘Imma be the best at something, you can’t have it’. So I’d never really be like that. But if you don’t say you’re gonna be the best at what you’re doing, your insides, that power that you have, doesn’t know what the fuck to do.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JUdgoHnL4Q&list=LLF69NADeUPVjZWSlZpeiGWg&index=3&t=0s
Best advice you’d give your teenage self?
Just live, please. We were so close to not living and yet here we are. Please, please, just throw the rule book in the flames. Go to school hungover, pull allnighters to just feel music, smoke, don’t do your homework.
Promise me to be unapologetically yourself.
A book that everyone should read?
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote - just stick with it...it’s an interesting story and raises some questions about life.
The Selection Series by Keira Cass - my favourite YA series.
Harry Potter by JK Rowling - pretty self explanatory?
What would you like to be remembered for?
I don’t wanna be remembered.
I’m gone, just move on. Find a new energy to bring into your life.
How do you define beauty?
(That is a purposeful blank space.)
What do you love most about your body?
That it’s never given up on me.
Best way to take a rest/decompress?
Music as loud as possible so you can just lose yourself.
Favourite place to view art?
Oh this has me stumped.
I like art that is significant but isn’t technically legally displayed.
If your life were a song, what would the title be?
It would 100% be a word or phrase that wouldn’t turn up in the lyrics at all.
But you listen to it and the title seems like the perfect title, nothing else could represent this song.
If you could master one instrument, what would it be?
Guitar, bass? No, drums. Vocals...
I just want some musical talent!
If you had a tattoo, where would it be?
Oooo, get ready.
Bee, on my collarbone.
Lace Up, on my wrist.
Tree, on my sternum.
Stars/an astronaut/a solar system, somewhere undecided.
Dolphins or koalas?
Don’t really have a preference...
But the dolphins in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy were great so...
What’s your spirit animal?
I think maybe a seal?
Best gift you’ve ever received?
My headphones.
I have tiny ears so have always struggled to find earbuds that are comfortable for a long period of time.
I found some!
And then they were discontinued so it’s really difficult to buy them.
I was surprised with 3 pairs once and I practically cried.
Best gift you’ve ever given?
Ummm, I’m not very artsy creative but I once made my mum a birthday card using a teabag, I think she liked it?
I was a teenager so it was really rare that I ever did something artistic so I think she especially appreciated the effort and discomfort I felt.
What’s your favourite board game?
Chess.
Game of Life.
Cards against humanity.
What’s your favourite colour?
Grey.
Least favourite colour?
I used to have this severe hate for pink because it was forced on me as a child (I shared a room with my little sister and she loved pink so pink was what she got.)
I’ve grown out of it: pink is punk as fuck.
Diamonds or pearls?
I don’t really have a preference.
I much prefer simple things.
If we’re talking jewellery then I like plain silver.
Drugstore makeup or designer?
Ummm...I’m not sure how to differentiate.
I try and use Natural Collection for the base of my makeup but my eyeliner and eyebrows are Rimmel London and NYX.
Blow-dry or air-dry?
Air-dry
These curls only work one way and that’s their way.
Pilates or yoga?
Both.
Depends on what I need in the moment.
Coffee or tea?
Neither!
I’m not allowed so it’s hot chocolate all the wayyyy.
What’s the weirdest word in the English language?
The weirdest words are the ones that you learnt reading so pronounce one way when actually it’s said entirely differently.
Me, in Year 10, with the word ‘epitome’.
Dark chocolate or milk chocolate?
Depends on my mood really...
Cadbury released this bar that mixed the two together and that seems kinda perfect.
Stairs or elevator?
Either
I like racing people in the lifts to see if I can get up the stairs quicker. Such a child, I know.
Summer or winter?
Winter, for sure.
Natural ginger so the summer is the worst thing I’ve ever experienced.
You are stuck on an island, you can pick one food to eat forever without getting tired of it, what would you eat?
Mash.
A desert you don’t like?
Apple pie (or any fruit pie)
And custard.
A skill you’re working on mastering?
Skateboarding.
No time like quarantine, eh?
Best thing to happen to you today?
Woke up naturally alert so felt ready to tackle the day productively for the first time since lockdown began.
Best compliment you’ve ever received?
That my writing has helped someone.
Someone told me that A Night of Many Firsts perfectly represented what they were feeling and helped them feel strong enough to get help.
Favourite smell?
My deodorant, baking, the local library.
Hugs or kisses?
Hugs. Simple as.
If you made a documentary, what would it be about?
Intense case study of teenage mental illness into adulthood.
Last piece of content you consumed that made you cry?
Pretty Toxic Revolver - Machine Gun Kelly
Probably every episode of Torchwood ever
Lipstick or lip gloss?
Lipstick
Sweet or savoury?
Savoury. Vegan corn chowder, garlic bread, potatoes.
Girl crush?
I don’t really have any?
I mean, I’m bi but no one really comes to mind.
How you know you’re in love?
I’ve never been in love but I hope it would be seeing them and feeling peace.
Knowing that they get every part of you, good and bad, and still choose to stay. And vice versa.
Song you can listen to on repeat?
Pretty much anything MGK
Currently feeling the Lace Up album.
If you could switch lives with someone for a day who would it be?
I wouldn’t want to be someone else.
I’d much rather be able to jump forward and experience a day in my future...for reassurance.
What are you most excited about at this time in your life?
Travelling.
I’m leaving and hopefully never coming back to this place, this mindset, again.

Round 5
THE SEA EAGLE
MAKING RUGBY LEAGUE LESS SH#@T
Tumblr media
Round 4 Update
Manly Sea Eagles      6
Defeated by
Penrith Panthers      46
The score says it all. No comment necessary!
Round 5
Manly Sea Eagles      13
Defeated
NZ Warriors               12
Despite losing their opening 4 games and being sent out as rank outsiders, Manly showed in the opening stanza that they were up for the fight in this Round 5 clash against the NZ Warriors.
That said, you get no better opportunity to turn around poor form then when you come up against a team coached by a non-premiership winning, DFI infected ex Dragon, slapper (i.e. Nathan Brown).
Tumblr media
Manly had all the play early but could not convert. Finally, Manly were able to open the scoring after 27 minutes when speedster Jason Saab chased down a long-range Cherry Baby kick to score. “Speed” and “Manly wingers” have not been mutually inclusive terms in recent years so hopefully young Saab can continue to step up and provide some much-needed penetration in what has been some pretty average offence of late.
Unfortunately (for Manly) the Warriors hit back in the next set and scores were locked up at 6 a piece at the break. The first half was a fairly uninspiring affair but at least Manly were competitive thus showing what happens when two pretty average teams match up against each other.
The Warriors opened the scoring in the second half and had most of the play. Just when it looked like they would be consigned to their 5th consecutive loss, somehow Manly found an equalizer when Josh Schuster benefited from a Kodi Nikorima howler.
The final 10 minutes descended into a field goal fest, with the Warriors in particular failing to take their respective chances. With only seconds remaining none other than Cherry Baby himself stepped up and iced a wobbly 1 pointer thus securing Manly’s first win of the year and more importantly taking them one small step away from the dreaded wooden spoon. It’s fair to say that Cherry Baby has not been setting the world on fire so far this year, but no one can ever doubt his impact when it counts most. The challenge for this Manly team is to ensure that there are more of these moments to provide Cherry Baby opportunities to exceed.
Apart from the fact that Manly won this was a game of very few highlights. That said the “pantsing” of Dylan Walker 20 minutes from the end and the ensuing super wedgy which resulted in Walker have to leave the field was memorable for all the wrong reasons -  OUCH!!!!
Tumblr media
Next week Manly are taking a home game to Glen Willow Oval, Mudgee to take on the high-flying Titans. And why not, of late Manly have been legless at Lottoland with performances that only befit the stadiums name. There may even be a chance that the Titans get lost in transit and can’t even find their way to Mudgee.
IT’S A TRILLER
In a previous report the Sea Eagle highlighted the recent folly of Channel 9’s continuing to programme Broncos fixtures in their prime time free-to air TV slots. This despite the fact that they are the reigning wooden spooners with only 1 win from their past 14 games (sounds a bit like Manly – but at least Manly didn’t get a spoon).
Tumblr media
Not surprisingly the Bronco’s were again given prime billing last Thursday, this time against the Bunnies. To add insult to injury Channel 9 thought to promote this game as the “Thursday Night Thriller”. Who in their right mind, bearing in mind recent and current form could ever think this game could ever be a thriller? The Bookies had the Bunnies at 1.08 fav’s and they duly ran out 35=6 winners, with the game effectively over at half time.
Surely, it’s time for the “experts” at Channel 9 to take a visit to the room of mirrors, firstly to consider their useless programming, but more concerning to consider their complete lack of understanding of not only rugby league but the ability and viewing appeal of the hapless Bronco’s.
With that said, The Sea Eagle is eagerly awaiting this Thursday nights prime time free to air TV Channel 9 thriller when the legless Bronco’s meet the undefeated Panthers!!! The Bookies currently have the Panthers at 1.03 fav’s so just maybe they know something that Channel 9 exec’s have failed to grasp.
‘She is shattered’: NRLW player charged after allegedly assaulting Northies bouncers – SMH 4 April 2021
Tumblr media
NRLW star Nita Maynard has been charged after allegedly assaulting two security guards outside of Northies on Friday night. The 28-year-old allegedly was asked to leave the infamous Cronulla pub around 9pm before she became aggressive to staff. She allegedly assaulted two security guards outside the venue before police were called to the premises. She allegedly had to be restrained until police arrived.
“About 9pm yesterday (Friday 2 April 2021), officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were called to a licensed premise on Elouera Road, Cronulla, following reports of an alleged assault,” a police statement read.
“The woman was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station, where she was charged with two counts of common assault and excluded person fail to leave premises when required. She was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday, May 13.”
The incident is believed to be the first off-field charge for an NRLW player since the competition began in 2018 -with the NRL now working through with the judiciary how a sanction would be handed down if Maynard is found guilty.
Maynard is currently playing in the NSWRL Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership for the North Sydney Bears ahead of the NRLW season, which starts later in the year.
NSWRL said the sanction will likely come from North Sydney.
“Nita Maynard is contracted to North Sydney,” a spokeswoman from the NSWRL said. North Sydney are dealing with it at the moment and keeping us in the loop with regards to their actions. We will review the matter further once North Sydney have determined a course of action. We are confident they have the matter in hand.”
North Sydney Bears chairman Daniel Dickson said the club lawyer will be speaking with Maynard on Sunday about the best course of action.
“She is shattered,” Dickson said. She is obviously disappointed with what has gone on. We will make comment when the time is right.”
Sea Eagle Comment:
It is hard to know where to start with this one.
Firstly, this young lady plays with the North Sydney Bears. Enough said about all the bad things that flow from having any association with the dreaded stench of the Bear.
Secondly, the Sea Eagle is concerned that there has been no  NRL integrity unit investigation that would clearly be the case had this been a male NRL player . On an objective viewing of the matter, young Maynard appears to have been placed in the category of a protected species which the Sea Eagle would suggest neither she nor the Women’s Rugby League movement need or would want (personal opinion).
This is clearly a case that warrants NRL integrity unit investigation at the highest level. The NRL can't go on a latte sipping politically correctly celebration of softness rampage on this one, or pander to the misguided sensitivities of the social media jibberers, for these type of issues.
Frankly, if rugby league players want to muck up at licenced liquor serving establishments, then they should feel the full brunt of a deep and hard NRL integrity unit probing and investigation, regardless of gender.
What this case clearly shows is that when rugby League is pulsing through an individual's veins, it matters not what their gender may be .
The lesson to be learned for all rugby League players whether they be male or female is obviously, to steer clear of Northies. The Sea Eagle awaits any good news story that might emanate from this venue, given it would seem that only bad things can happen there.
Thankfully no simulated sex acts with canines or so-called bubbling were involved in this one. Perhaps she was merely trying to link up with this man
Tumblr media
As for young Maynard, as author Robert Louis Stevenson famously once said, it is now time to dine out on the banquet of consequences.

The Outside World: The Active Ingredients Of Every Ski Resort That Keeps You Wanting More
There are so many times you want to stop working from home a but or even watching movies and head outside. What happens though, you do not know what to go and do outside.
Tumblr media
Many of us will only head out when they are going to the shops or the market. Now you need to be able to go outside for some adventure. There is nothing as impressive as a random adventure. You should try it!
Local people Who Are as Rad as They Are Inviting
Which resort has the best local people? That resembles asking which football crew has the best fans. There's no correct answer, merely various adaptations of marvelous. Visit Niseko United, Eldora Mountain Resort, or Solitude Mountain Resort, and you'll ride the lift with committed skiers and riders who are aficionados of the mountain and heroes of their home turf. In Winter Park, Colorado, load the Super Gauge Express, at the base of the hotel's legendary Mary Jane zone, and you'll likely hobnob with a portion of the mountain's diehard knock skiers.
Perspectives That Instagram Can't Do Justice
Each view is unique. However, one thing remains the equivalent: Arrive at the top, and that view will blow your mind.  Atop Big Sky's 11,166-foot Lone Peak—Montana's most noteworthy beautiful ignore—you can see across three states and into two national parks. Venture out of the gondola at Crystal Mountain, Washington, and you'll be in the shadows of Mount Rainier. You can look into Yosemite National Park from the summit of Mammoth Mountain.
Occasions Worth Marking Your Calendar For
From shutting day gatherings to spring concerts to outfit clad lake intersections, occasions are what bring the networks around these different goals together. You'll discover signature, exciting social events, and celebrations everywhere. The rigid soul rules at times like the Winter Games NZ at Coronet Peak, New Zealand. Music is the top need at both Reggae Fest, at Maine's Sugarloaf, and Sunsation, at Colorado's Copper Mountain.
Tumblr media
Simple Access to Legit Inbounds Terrain
At New Mexico's Taos Ski Valley, you would now be able to ride perhaps the most noteworthy lift in the nation to the highest point of 12,481-foot Kachina Peak. Or, on the other hand, put your abilities under a magnifying glass at Slide Brook Basin, at Sugarbush Resort in Vermont, a tough 2,000-section of the land off-trail zone between the retreat's two pinnacles. And afterward, there's 11,166-foot Lone Peak at Big Sky, Montana, where landscape like the about vertical Big Couloir or the plunging North Summit Snowfield is so healthy it requires checking in with ski watch before you drop.
Each Savour of After-Ski Scene
When the lifts shut down, the after-ski merriments—in the entirety of their sublimely one of a kind structures—start. At Wobbly Barn, the notorious steakhouse-cut dance club in Killington, Vermont, get the free transport to après that has an aftertaste like a shrimp and steak supper and sounds like a live band shaking out on the personal setting's stage. Remember to pack your moving shoes.

Lost Ark Won't Take My Money
[New Post] @PlayLostArk Won't Take My Money -- Nor yours, if you happen to be from Aus or NZ. #LostArk
Or rather, Amazon Games won’t take my money for Lost Ark. Nor anyone else’s money if they happen to come from New Zealand or Australia. *sigh* It was last August we first heard about Amazon Games entering a distribution deal with SmileGate RPG and while Lost Ark was never explicitly named, we knew. Yesterday during the Summer Games Fest kick-off event, Amazon finally revealed that yes, it was in…

From memory, when we first tried my game Wonderland Nights: White Rabbit’s Diary out as a LARP way back in 2013, Rose Northey played this character, the Queen of Diamonds. Which is funny, because I actually got her to voice the Queen of Hearts in the game! But that’s because in between 2013 and now she’s come out as a performance poet (award winning, even!) and I realised just how much range she had :D

Time for some serious work at the Eastern Fish&Game council in Rotorua.
Journey continues
After spending a wonderful week in Taupo, which allowed me to shoot a staggering number of fish pictures, I had to move on. It was time for some more serious work for Fish&Game. So, I had scheduled some time at the Eastern Fish&Game region in Rotorua.
Rotorua
Rotorua is a city close to the Bay of Plenty and features many geothermal sights. If there is one place where you feel the pulse of New Zealand’s seismic activity – it is here.
The seismic pulse of New Zealand is felt in Rotorua
However, my main occupancy was to work for Fish&Game and their work is very diverse:
Hatchery
Attending the Monday morning meeting, I met the members of the Eastern Region Fish&Game council. Among the council members was Lloyd, who is responsible for the hatchery.
Lloyd is a very cheerful person, who is probably in his 50s or 60s. His white hair shines silver and more often than not his glasses are on his head. When he laughs – which he does a lot – his smile stretches all across his face and is probably the reason for the deep wrinkles.
From our meeting onwards, I frequently spent time at the hatchery. For example, I helped with feeding the fry, collecting trout in the traps and stripping them for eggs and sperm. Apart from that I was happily taking pictures of whatever caught my eye. This happened on a regular basis.
Measuring trout in the trap
Carrying one specimen back to fertilize eggs
Massively colourful rainbow trout in the trap
Breading Tiger Trout
Fertilizing eggs with sperm (milt)
Trout eggs
Release of a wild trout
Wild trout spawning
At one instance, Lloyd showed me how quickly trout can adapt to the background of their pool. For this demonstration, he put some fry from their black basing in a small white pot. Within 15 minutes, the fry in the white pot were significantly brighter than before. When released back to the others, they were clearly distinguishable for another few minutes until they adapted again.
Quick adaptability of trout fry to colour changes
Drift Dive
I was pretty stoked when Mat told me that I can partake in a drift dive. He is a younger, sportive  field officer with a flair for Whittaker’s Chocolate (who doesn’t?).
Given that I did not know what river we would be snorkelling, I was also kind of nervous. Nonetheless, I was looking forward to this new experience and I could not wait to see New Zealands underwater world.

Eastern Region Fish&Game council
Later on, Mat told me about safety concerns, because he would be responsible for me. Furthermore, if I missed the exit at the end of the drift dive, there would not have been the brightest outlook:
Apparently, further downstream the water disappeared underground into a hole, just to resurface again and plummeting down a waterfall. Therefore, we agreed that I observed the happening from safe ground. This allowed me to take some aerial shots of this undertaking too.
Do you see the trout? On this drift dive, they counted 1100 trout within 1 kilometer close to Rotorua
Wetland
Apart from the drift dive and the hatchery, I also worked on a wetland. There I helped John with some conservation work on a wetland between Rotorua and Taupo. John is of strong stature and therefore appears very tough. He has a really good temper and is a great story teller. Furthermore, I shared his opinion on tourism in NZ. John concisely put the issue at stakes:
“Welcome to my country, enjoy it, but don’t abuse it!” – John 2019
At the wetland, we prepared everything for the kids who would arrive later to help us. However, they were badly organised and most of them did not even bring proper gear or apparel. It was kind of a fiaso, but not the fault of Fish&Game but rather the organisers of this event.

Local Patrol
Fish&Game also makes sure that people follow the regulations. So, I attended local patrols where John showed me around and checked for any rule-breakers who fished illegally.

Hospitality
During my time in Rotorua, I had the wonderful opportunity to stay at Carmel’s place. Carmel is a wonderful woman, loving and hard-working mother of two boys and just turned 50ish.
This opporunity to stay at their place allowed me to sleep in one of the finest houses I have ever been during my travels. It was a welcome change after many nights in dodgy hostels and rainy nights in the tent or car. Actually, the room even had a bigger bed than I was used to back home!
Larger than my bed at home!
Nevertheless, it was also at this time that I began to miss my home and all the people on the other side of the earth. I was homesick. It is a rare occasion that I feel like this on my travels, but it also happens to me. I think it had to do with the fact that in Rotorua my pace was more work related. Therefore , I could not distract myself anymore by rushing from one activity to another. I finally had to cope with my demons.
Homesick
Being homesick was the main reasons, why I did not extend my stay in New Zealand for attending the Fly Fest in Turangi. This event took place only three days after my departure and I was contemplating to stay longer and meet Claudio and Theresa in Taupo again. In retrospection it was the wrong decision; yet at that time, it was the right one though.
Importance of Fish&Game and thoughts on stocking trout
Although I questioned the need for hatching trout in a country like New Zealand, where they are abundant, it seems to be necessary:
According to Fish&Game, only still waters are stocked, which are a put-and-take fishery or do not supply sufficient numbers of spawning grounds. This raises the question, whether it is sustainable to put more fish into an ecosystem which does not provide enough space for reproduction though. I have become very critical regarding human influence on ecosystems, since I watched Patagonia’s Artifishal movie.
Nonetheless, I highly value the work of Fish&Game and strongly believe that they make decisions to their best of their knowledge. Furthermore, all the members of the council have either a fishing or hunting background, which makes them true advocates of the fishery and game birding. In contrast, in many other countries, decisions regarding the environment affecting fish and other wildlife species are made on a political level, where people rarely have such a strong connection to the wild as it is the case at Fish&Game.
Thanks for allowing me this stunning insight. I learnt heaps and made wonderful friends.

New post on my work for Fish&Game in Rotorua! #fishery #newzealand #rotorua #fishandgame Time for some serious work at the Eastern Fish&Game council in Rotorua.

Sometimes you can feel as if the world can’t be the easiest place to travel if you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, and while this can be true for certain corners of the world, it is surely not true for the whole of this planet. Let me take you on a tour of  some of the best places to travel for the LGBTQ+ community, from some of the golden oldies to some more interesting destinations that wouldn’t have normally been on your radar. And who’s going to be your tour guide? Well I’m Henry, one of STA Travel’s newest recruits, fresh from my travels in Hong Kong and far more of Asia!
Taipei – Taiwan
Taiwan can probably claim the spot as the most gay friendly destination in Asia, in fact homosexuality has never been illegal in Taiwan; and excitingly Taiwan legalised same-sex marriage in May 2019, the first Asian country to do so! In regards to Trans rights, the country still has a long way to go (as does our own to be honest), but there has been some good movement in the form of a ‘3rd Gender option’ on ID cards.
As with most nations in the world, the LGBTQ+ friendly areas are far more likely to be found in the metropolitan areas and Taiwan is no exception to this, with Taipei being the most LGBTQ+ friendly part of the country. The annual pride takes place every last Saturday in October, with over 80,000 attending normally, turning Taipei into one big party, reason enough to visit Taipei alone!
Away from being a safe destination or the LGBTQ+ community, what else does Taiwan offer? Well,  beaches, national parks, history and, one hell of a food scene. Do I really need say any more to whet the appetite?!
Check out our Travel Guide on Taiwan if this has got you interested: Travel Taiwan
  New Zealand
It might not come as a surprise to you that New Zealand has a great gay scene, I mean yes it is a bit far away from the UK, but if you’re going travelling you might as well really travel!
First things first, the Transgender community is nothing new in New Zealand, with the Maori having a long history of acceptance and inclusion of whakawāhine (trans women) and tangata ira tāne (trans men) in their society. And New Zealand had the first ever transgender MP in 1999 with the election of Georgina Beyer!
What to do for the gay traveller in New Zealand? Well first of all, gay or straight, New Zealand has some of the best landscapes the world has to offer, I mean we all know by now that the Lord of the Rings was filmed there, so there is of course Hobbiton for you Lord of the Rings nuts.
But if you fancy a true a unique gay experience then get yourself down to Queenstown for a Winter Pride on the slopes in September.
And, of course if you want to hit up the gay night scene then head for Auckland, which is New Zealand’s largest city and has an amazing selection of LGBTQ+ friendly places to stay, and great bars and clubs to enjoy a tipple or two (*ten) to help dance the night away.
Last but not least, you wouldn’t be getting a thorough New Zealand experience without going to a Rugby game, so get yourself to the NZ Falcons RFC team in Auckland, New Zealand’s only gay rugby team.
  Guadalajara – Mexico
Now I told you there might be some ones you weren’t expecting and I can probably guess that this is one of them?! Well let me tell you why you should be visiting Guadalajara if you’re embarking on some LGBTQ+ friendly travels.
Despite some high profile conservative politicians in the country, namely the President and the Mayor of the city; Guadalajara is a fairly safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, with many gay-owned and run places to stay and eat. Of course with all major cities is always worth keeping your wits about you when the sun goes down.
While in Guadalajara you must immerse yourself in the Mexican culture, and this means food. Mexico has one of the most intriguing cuisines in the world and Guadalajara is no exception to this, with street food and well priced restaurants a plenty make sure you fill those bellies with some Mexican munch.
And of course if you do manage to find yourself sampling some of Mexico’s liquid based treats, namely Tequila, then there is a great gay night scene around the Avenida Prisciliano Sanchez to dance the night away!
If this has got you excited some Mexican magic, then check out our Travel guide for the Latin American nation: Travel Mexico
  Berlin
From one of my more ‘out there’ suggestions to one of the most classic destinations for the LGBTQ+ community. Berlin is about as LGBTQ+ friendly as a city can get, in fact it has the oldest gay village in the world, Schöneberg, which dates back to the 1920s although it did temporarily stop for a while due to some historical events…
I suppose when it comes to Berlin, we cannot ignore the incredible Queer nightlife. There is of course the famous Berghain which of course I was refused entry to… I even had the full black clothing and panda eyes and still apparently wasn’t a fit for the club; but don’t let my sour grapes stop you from trying! There is KitKat as well, which might be the place to explore some of your more niche desires, shall I say. There are so many more amazing queer clubs in Berlin, I could write a whole blog on that alone, actually I might just do that one day!
Of course I must mention Berlin Pride which is one of the biggest Prides in all of Europe, probably the world actually! It takes place in the second half of July every year, with it falling on Saturday 27th this year, if you’re looking for a Pride to rival London then Berlin is the one for you.
Away from the incredible LGBTQ+ scene that Berlin has to offer you, there is so much more to explore in this great melting pot of a city. Whether that’s from sampling a fine Turkish kebab to learning about some of the darker times in the city’s history.
Must do in Berlin: Visit the Jewish Museum, even if you’re not a Museum person this is a must, one of the best things I have ever done on my travels.
  Austin – USA
Austin, the capitol of Texas?! Yes you heard me right, Austin has a thriving gay scene, so don’t let the idea of being out in Texas put you off this vibrant metropolitan hub.
For the best gay-friendly neighborhoods then get yourself to East Austin, South Congress and Downtown Austin.
This city has so much to offer in terms of history, head down to the ‘Texas State Capitol’ building to find out all about the history of Texas, an incredible area of North America which was part of Mexico at one point! Oh and I cannot forget to mention the fact that Austin is the live music hub of America, why? Because simply put, it has more live music venues per person than anywhere else in the USA. And you can’t ignore the amazing Austin City Limits’ festival, but be quick because it books up super fast.
If you want to escape the rat-race of the city and you’re feeling adventurous, then head to Hippie Hallow Park for the gay beach at Lake Travis, where clothing is not necessarily a requirement!
Something to think about: If you’re heading off to Austin in the November time, then you MUST get yourself to the Austin International Drag Fest!
Want to explore more about Austin: Travel Austin
  Montevideo – Uruguay
Frequently rated as one of the most gay-friendly cities in the world by Lonely Planet, this South American city should be a must on your LGBTQ+ travel list.
Did you know that the Tango was initially a dance between two men? No I didn’t either! So if you want to get yourself into the South American swing of things, then there are many a queer-friendly dance classes for you.
One of the best things to do in Montevideo is just walk… You’ll be mesmerised by the 12 mile wide city adorned by neoclassical architecture. Throughout your walks you will come across the Plaza Indepencia, a stunning square where there’s a 24-hour honour guard protecting the remains of Uruguayan Independence hero, José Artigas!
If you want to practice your newly found dance moves then Montevideo offers an incredible night life, with bars aplenty and some incredible gay-friendly clubs; just remember that things start a bit later in Uruguay so don’t be getting to the club any time before midnight!
Oh and I can’t forget to mention the amazing wine you can sample in Montevideo, so if you’re feet are hurting then sit back and grab a glass of Malbec.

Mike Hesson says T20Is and Eden Park vital for NZ cricket

Round 10
THE SEA EAGLE
MAKING RUGBY LEAGUE GREAT AGAIN!!!
Tumblr media
12 May 2018
Lang Park
Manly Sea Eagles 38
Def.
Brisbane Broncos 24
Tumblr media
On the back of five consecutive losses, the Sea Eagle reluctantly nestled down to watch the indigenous round clash between Manly and the Broncos played at Manly’s traditional home ground, Lang Park (WTF??). Given the importance and relevance of this indigenous initiative, the NRL should also introduce, a Polynesian Round, or if they really wanted to truly celebrate a minority involvement within the NRL maybe even consider the “White-Anglo” round, or in honour of Israel Folau, the Don’t Go to Hell Round sponsored by the Tool Shed of Darlinghurst.
Tumblr media
Manly opened the scoring after 2 minutes when Jake Trjobovic scored under the posts. Thankfully, this week Cherry Baby converted!!
A penalty-fest followed, and after four consecutive penalties the Bronco’s equalised shortly thereafter. Full marks to both the refs and the current NRL directive, for penalising at any possible opportunity and for the wonderful spectacle this is creating.
The remainder of the first half was riddled by penalties and errors from both sides. Again, Cherry Baby missed a sitter of a conversion, regardless, Manly deservedly led 18-14 at the break.
Cheered on by a vocal Brisbane based home crowd, the second half was all Manly and in the blink of an eye they led 30-14. Despite some worrying moments late in the game Manly eventually went on to win 38-24, the result taking Manly one step away from the dreaded spoon and relegating the hapless Eels to the despised sole position of cellar-dwellers after 10 rounds.
The Sea Eagle is unable to confirm rumours that several Manly players, contrary to Coach Barrett’s directive were seen roaming the night spots of Fortitude Valley celebrating the victory into the early hours of the morning.
Tumblr media
What we can say, is that at least the Coach, Trent Barrett, and the Manly players, realise just how serious it is for Manly NOT TO GET THE SPOON. No one would want to be around when that happened, given Manly has never suffered the inglorious honour of having ever won it.
No doubt as well, many Manly players have realised that Manly will be forced to shed talent, in order to be salary cap compliant in season 2019 (given their salary cap imposed discount). A player or coach’s prospects of going to a strong club and commanding better coin for the next deal, is greatly enhanced if they come from a team that is competing, rather than one that came last and had the spoon. The last thing any player/coach needs is the words “Wooden Spoon Winner Season 2018” on their CV.
In season 2018, any finish 15th or above will suffice for Manly.
MANLY FOR SALE – PART 2
Last week the Sea Eagle disclosed rumours of the possibility of the sale of the Manly franchise to either HK or Qatar interests. During the week a more disturbing suitor emerged, that in the form of the North Sydney Bears. If a sale to the Bears eventuated this would certain spell the end of Manly as we know it, and the Sea Eagle will go on the record to say that if this was to eventuate he will relinquish any future interest in Manly or for that matter rugby league and the NRL. Apart from DFI (which over the passage of time has been virtually eradicated) the Stench of the Bear remains one of the most insidious infliction's perpetrating itself in rugby league.
Tumblr media
Surely anyone with even the remotest understanding of rugby league can grasp the fact that the Bear and Sea Eagle do not co-habitate, as evidenced by the ill-fated Northern Eagles debacle in the late 1990’s. It took Manly years to recover from this fiasco, even though they managed to end the Bear as an NRL club in the process. This situation is not dissimilar to that now facing the club after the appointment of a non-premiership winning, DFI infected, ex- Dragon /Shark as coach.
The Sea Eagle can only hope that sanity prevails, however in the world of rugby league this may be a bridge too far and concepts such as sanity, common sense etc. are largely ignored.
All the Sea Eagle can say, is that he has it on good authority from a director of the North Sydney Bears Leagues Club, that they are very happy not having to fund a perennial loss maker such as an NRL side. It is highly unlikely that any Capex for a folly such as paying $10m plus to buy Manly and then get the right to fork out hand over fist millions of dollars each year to hold up a loss maker for the privilege, would ever get past the used toilet roll bin with Bears central.
This is the type of sanity we as Manly fans are all looking for.
ISRAEL FOLAU
In a game devoid of interest, only ex leaguie Israel Folau stands ready to create controversy at every turn. His anti-gay stance is taking on new heights, with Mr Folau ignoring Rugby Australia directives to tone it down. He tweets at will, his personal view that apparently gays will go to hell. He was of course booed at the Waratah’s latest fixture, but given only two men and the drovers dog turned up, it was hardly noticed. Gays throughout the country are threatening to hand in their rugby membership in disgust. Ordinarily, the moral outrage of a very small minority,  would not bother a sporting code too much, but in the case of Rugby union, every member counts, and it has become a problem much larger than it really should be.
Tumblr media
Is Israel Folau’s Rugby Union’s answer to the Director of Controversy? He certainly gets full marks for trying.
YOU’RE FIRED
Tumblr media
The Sea Eagle has previously identified the debacle that is Australian rugby. On top of the Falou saga Australian super rugby franchises continue to flounder in a game is now largely irrelevant in terms of the local sporting landscape. This weekend we saw the NSW Waratah’s squander a 29-0 lead to go down to the Crusaders extending the losing streak of Australian teams to 30 against NZ opposition.
Tumblr media
Add to this the QLD Reds 63-28 humiliating loss to the previously winless (Japanese “WTF”) Sunwolves and the ACT Brumbies loss to the Rebels and its hardly surprising that the local version of the game continues its free fall to oblivion. The game of Rugby has truly become a national embarrassment, one that even the great Peter Beattie can’t hope to replicate.
As far as the Sea Eagle is concerned, all involved in Rugby in this country should be fired immediately, rules should be modified to restrict the number of players to 13 a side, sets restricted to 6 and get them back 10m. Only then will this game be remotely palatable. And that is said with no great joy, as the Sea Eagle believes that somewhere in Rugby there beats the heart of free running, explosive and expansive game. Regrettably, whilst ever the British/Europeans/South Africans control the rules, in the sunny land of Australia, the game will never truly reach its potential, and there is sweet F6(all that local rugby administrators can do about it.
Tumblr media
Rugby league of course has its own issues, and should not rest on its laurels. Let’s face it, its key strength is an ability to adapt it rules quickly to keep the game relevant. Its key weakness is a lack of international competition of significance (curiously these two features t are reversed when it comes to Rugby Union).
At the moment however, the main problem with League is an apparent failure to reduce the replacement rule to 4, and with the added extra that once you are replaced, that is it, you don’t come back. It seems Rugby League administrators believe current day coaches need to be consulted about changes to the replacement rule, even though the necessity for change is stating the bleeding obvious. News flash, they don’t.
The job of the coach is to coach to the conditions. The job of the game, is to create a spectacle that is exciting, tough, and played by athletes with superior skill, and at higher endurance levels both as to pain and fitness. Ie a code fans can identify with, and that allows players of all sizes and nationalities to find their place, be they small but speedy/flamboyant/creative, or large and powerful or perhaps just hardworking but loveable idiots (with some but limited skills)  that will work for the full 80 for the 2 points. But we will leave that discussion for another day.
With that said, to  the entire board and senior management of Rugby Australia, your’e fired.
