Green Lantern Sketchpage, mostly redesigns of Silver Age characters. I want to recanonize Oans modifying Lanterns with invasive nanosurgery to kill their fear responses since it ties back into Krona and the Manhunters really nicely and provides a neater pipeline from Hal getting the ring to eventually being resurrected as a Spectre.

Ganthet got me thinking about the potential of Oans as fifth-dimensional entities, but that's a deep rabbit hole for another time.

Evil Star, Doctor Polaris, Sonar, and Tattooed Man are all obviously Silver Age GL villains, but I tried modernizing them a bit. Abel has a lot of potential, but I think part of that is giving him a higher force to channel, possibly the Anti-Life Equation?

By the end of this week, the cable network will have lost its presence in some 20 million homes this year. The most recent blow came from Verizon, which will stop carrying OAN on its Fios television service starting Saturday. That will starve the network of a major stream of revenue: the fees it collects from Verizon, which counts roughly 3.5 million cable subscribers. In April, OAN was dropped by AT&T’s DirecTV, which has about 15 million subscribers.

While OAN doesn��t have the influence wielded by the much larger Fox News, the top-rated cable news network, the fees from its deals with Verizon and AT&T provided a substantial stream of income, about $36 million a year by some estimates. And once it is gone from millions of television sets, OAN will be in a weaker bargaining position with advertisers — fewer potential viewers most likely mean fewer companies willing to pay as much to promote their products on the network.

All this comes at a particularly bad time for OAN, which is based in San Diego. The company and the Herring family that backs it face defamation lawsuits over the network’s claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald J. Trump.

The extremist OAN (or is it OANN?) is for folks on the MAGA fringe who consider Fox News too mainstream.

Now OAN has been dropped by Verizon – the last major cable provider to carry them. 

Verizon is set to drop the right-wing One America News Network (OAN) from its channel lineup after the network and company failed to reach an agreement on a new contract.

Verizon said in a statement to The Hill that it will no longer have the rights to OAN after July 31, and the network will be removed from the television lineup.

It’s become customary for shithole cable stations to call themselves “networks” even if they have fewer staff and the same amount of space as your local neighborhood bodega.

Anyway, Trump loves OAN because they have been pushing his Big Lie.

OAN is also facing a lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems over claims made on the network that the company’s voting machines were manipulated to support President Biden over former President Trump in the 2020 presidential election. 

In addition to the downgrading of OAN’s national profile, Thursday was not a good media day for Trump. The House January 6th committee aired raw footage of outtakes from his 07 January 2021 speech at their Thursday evening hearing.

If it weren’t over such a serious matter, namely Trump’s failed coup, the outtakes would seem almost like an SNL skit.
