So. Nightbringer Lesson 22.

(spoilers, obviously)

The Father of Demons

While cleaning the library, MC finds a book -- one that has the same lines narrated by Solomon in the Prologue video. The book, like the video, ends abruptly at "the demon's name was..." as the rest of the book is gone, pages torn out.

The brothers wonder what the name could be, and Mammon insists it must be Nightbringer, to which Asmodeus agrees. Then, we find out that Satan learned some interesting information from a Celestial Realm book.

So the Celestial Realm also knows of Nightbringer -- but as "the father of demons", thought to be the very first demon born in the world. They go on to say Nightbringer has been known by other names as well, but otherwise, there isn't a whole lot more information on him. Okay, Simeon, please go home real quick and see if you can get this book in undamaged form for us.

That certainly brings a whole new weight to Nightbringer's identity, if he is indeed supposed to be the first demon ever to exist. So far, the game has been heavily hinting that Nightbringer is a version of Barbatos, and this new information would seemingly match up with one of the chats in OG where Barbatos mentions he was never a child, as well as the stories Asmodeus mentions of Barbatos being strong enough to be Demon King himself.

However, the identity of the child, as well as what Nightbringer's actual goals are with MC, is still to be revealed, and this doesn't help to actually clarify any of those questions yet.

The Secret of the Little D.'s

Another major thing we learned is about the Little D.'s -- and that is that they are technically fairies or spirits that came from a tree that the Fairy King used to tend, back when the Fairy King ruled the Devildom. The game goes on to explain that this makes them technically actually fairies or spirits, though the Little D.'s call themselves demons, so their true nature is a mystery -- especially since they are also sometimes born when a new demon is born into the world, but not always!

Interestingly, Barbatos also phrases it as those demons being chosen, so though it's extremely rare, it is seemingly not random, though we don't know exactly why or how.

New demons being born into the world also includes when fallen angels turn, it seems, since the extremely rare occurrence of these spirits being born alongside demons happened with all seven of the brothers after their fall.

So it's not that the main Little D.'s are just lesser demons of each particular sin, but that they are direct spirit counterparts to the demon brothers -- one for each of them, one for each sin.

Which brings us to ...

The Seven Sins

We've always known the seven brothers as the Avatars of the Seven Deadly Sins, but an interesting bit of information we learned in this lesson is that the brothers didn't know why they were given these particular titles, or if Pride, Greed, Envy, etc. were even known as the Seven Deadly Sins at the time the titles were given to them.

Beelzebub refers to them as "keywords", and we again establish it was the Demon King who gave these titles to the brothers. Diavolo says that if his father decided to give these titles to them, they must be important.

We know that the brothers were already exhibiting signs of their assigned "sin" even when they were angels, but as shown by Mammon's behavior in the past two lessons, the full force of each sin hasn't taken over all of them just yet. In fact, Mammon's greed has come out in a dangerous, powerful way as he becomes more of a demon.

It remains to be seen what, if any, relevance this has with MC losing their connection to the OG boys, but we know how they've changed by OG Season 1, where they fully embrace their sins.

We'll just have to wait and see!

Brothers Version ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dateables Sleeping Headcannons [With Gn!MC] Tw: Nothing, its Fluff ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Diavolo

~  He likes holding onto something as he is sleeping. A Pillow, MC, Lucifer, Plushie, anything he can ~ He will tend to hold MC close to him as he sleeps, specifically either next to him or laying ontop of him. Your choice there ~ He is a pretty deep sleeper, most things can't wake him up, the easiest way is a small peck on the cheek - it somehow wakes him up. ~ He has a tight grip, no escaping that. Also he snores decently loud. ~ He will wake up and pepper MC with kisses in the morning [if uncomfy with kisses then snuggles]

Barbatos

~ He sleeps like a plank. He doesn't move much, I mean if he moves a lot, he may roll himself into another world ~ He doesn't mind cuddles or anything, but any movement will wake him up. No matter how tired he is. And he doesn't snore, drool or mumble! ~ He will always stay in bed as long as he can with MC, but he does have to get up early to work ~ Always kisses MC's hand before leaving as to not interrupt their sleep. [If not kisses then pets their head gently]

Simeon

~ He likes to hold onto something in his sleep, which tends to be Luke sometimes ~ If you and him share a bed, he will hold you gently as you two are sleeping together ~ No one can wake him up, exceptions are Luke, Michael and MC. Who somehow can wake him up from his deep sleep ~ When he wakes up, he will always hold MC close to him and rub their back gently until they wake up.

Solomon

~ He moves a decent amount in his sleep. ~ He tends to accidentally mumble incantations and one time he had summoned 20 of his demons that he shares a pact with while asleep. ~ He likes cuddling, but prefers just holding hands when sleeping. ~ He will wake up earlier than MC all the time, he presses kisses on their forehead or neck to wake them up [Or just tickles their sides if they don't like kisses]

Luke

~ This Cinnamon roll likes curling up a bit in his sleep ~ He will snuggle into your side as you are laying in bed, mostly hugging your waist a bit ~ He makes sure there is space for Simeon in bed to so they can all snuggle ~ He drools a bit and mumbles about different things in his dreams ~ He will always wake up and hug MC in the morning as a hello as he is still sleepy. ~~~~~~~~~~

Ok so we see how he made the pact with Asmo and how he brushed it off as 'being normal to trick demons in order to make a pact with'. He even goes to say that MC making pacts by gaining the demons' trust is quite rare.

And honestly as shitty as that is it's making me question thing. Just how do other people make pacts with demons? Is that the normal mentality that other sorcerer hold?

I would honestly love if we ever find out how Solomon made pacts with his other demons or if we could meet another sorcerer that has pacts with demons.

It would also explain why Solomon is so casual about being dirty when making pacts with demons. If that's the mentality that the day to day sorcerer has, no wonder he doesn't find anything wrong with it.

Small spoilers for season 3 of obey me

Honestly, if this is the common mentality, I wonder what other sorcerers think of MC. In season 3 when going to the sorcerer society people in there were actually shocked to see Lucifer and Beelzebub next to them. I wonder what kind of theorise surround MC. Cause in the other people's minds, MC must have tricked all of the demon bros for a pact.

Overall I want to see more of other sorcerer yes even of Maddi and their history, culture, mentality.

A rant from a tired Beel enjoyer

I can't find a nicer way to get into this, so I'm just gonna go all out and say it: Why did Solmare make our chats and calls with Beel so damn boring?

I swear, ALL this man ever talks to us about is food. No matter the situation, with Beel, it always circles back to eating somehow. He either wants an opinion on food, or he's asking us to accompany him to a new restaurant, or he's arguing with someone because of food. I mean, even our first call with him on NB it's just him calling us on accident when he actually wanted to order pizza ( a trope that has already been recycled from another call in the og game, by the way ).

And I have to say, it's tiring. It's tiring because I love this character so much and I was so ready to get better Beel content when NB came out. But no, the calls and chats with him have somehow become even more bland. And now when I get a chat notification from him I just get this overwhelming feeling of boredom, because I know exactly what's going to happen: it's going to be yet another chat where we talk about food. 🙃

You can just see there's no effort being put into these convos, especially when compared with the other characters, who we get to talk about a variety of things with. And this has been a problem ever since OMSWD, since the majority of our chats with him there were also about food. But at least we got some that weren't, for example, one of my favorites, where Beel confesses that the reason he had been missing was that he was taking care of this dying flower. Or the other chats where he talks to us about training and Fangol, or just little things like sleeping on MC's lap and wanting to do it again or whatever.

But on Nightbringer? I swear, all chats and calls so far have been nothing but repetitive and forgettable ( at least for me, that is ). And it bothers me soooo much because this only happens with him! We get plenty of different topics to talk about with the others, but Beel? Beel can only ever talk about food, or Belphie, which is… not great at all…

And it sucks because Beel has so much potential, being the lovable character that he is. But the devs only give 3 layers to him: The meathead, the family protector with survivor's guilt, and… Belphegor's twin brother 😐. That's all, we get nothing more and it's left to us to give him more depth and make him less one-dimensional.

It's disappointing, to say the least. And I haven't seen a lot of people discuss this before, so yeah.

Asmo, whenever he gets hits with sudden feelings of thinking he's ugly and all within, which he starts to see on the outside too in himself.

Starts to just touch up his makeup more, and fix his hair, all while looking in the mirror. Forcing a convincing smile as he tells himself "I'm the most beautiful demon around. I'm so beautiful, inside and out." Etc...Yet he's just trying to counter the voices in his mind saying negative stuff to him.

Though all his brothers just see it as Asmo being full of himself again and annoying. Telling him to shut up and stop.

If only they knew what was going on in Asmo's mind truly in those moments...

I was trying to do a little catch up in nightbringer

I finished lesson 20 and they like joke(?) about moving to the human world and staying at the MCs home if they cant stay in the devildom

And i just wanna seriously consider the logistics of MC trying to house 7 other people

Most of us are probably living with other people (who may not be okay with sharing a space with so many strangers suddenly) and/or dont have a giant sized place

And this is assuming the mc is staying at a house and not an apartment....

Kinda wish the Obey Me writers did more with Beel being that Avatar of Gluttony other than just eating all the time. I wish they showed that his hunger for keeping his family safe to the point where it can be obsessive is insatiable. His hunger for his other interests that are barely mentioned in the games are insatiable.

Like take Levi for example: his love for anime is insatiable, he is always seeking out more to indulge in to the point he shuts himself out from the world, isolating himself from everyone. Even his own family (and even you, if you romanced him).

Take Satan for example: his hunger for more and more knowledge is insatiable. It's not as intense as it would be if he was the Avatar of Gluttony rather than Wrath, but imagine him obsessively collecting relics of the past Imagine him collecting books to the point his room is the way it is now, and shutting himself out from the world to keep collecting more and more.

We can even take Mammon as an example as he is the literal Avatar of Greed. He always wants more than everyone else, to the point he steals from his family, his friends, where he works, he steals from anyone and anywhere. If he were changed to gluttony, I can imagine him hoarding his money rather than impulsively spending it. He would obsessively save his money and still steal, but would never give anything up.

Idk, not to put the writers of Obey Me to shame or anything, I just wish there were a couple major points in the game they would flesh out more. Like Nightbringer doesn't really show that much change in my opinion. Everyone looks and acts the same in the original game. Idk idk, this is why we have fanfic
