save me.... I'm thinking about my goofy puyo x monhun au again..... (disclaimer: I have only played Rise/Sunbreak, GU (still in HR) and World (got to MR before my TV 💥)

nawr it's getting so bad I've been thinking about the TOWNS/VILLAGES now....

Primp (and Grimp, if we want to include Chronicle in all of this) would obviously become a village (Primp/Grimp Village oh how original you are Goose [not that I can come up with any better NAMES okay])

Not... sure about Suzuran.... Yeah it's a city, but MH doesn't have any modern or super technologically advanced civilizations (that are still around, anyway.) Something inbetween a kingdom and a village like. A Town. yeah. I don't know why the idea of a Town™️ seems so farfetched to me when Kingdoms Exist like does Sunbreak and the idea of Schrade (rip) not exist to me ????

Aahh,,, I really need to read up on the villages of the other MH games. Maybe that will help me get a feel for how I want Suzuran to be. Definitely much bigger than Primp or any regular village in GU/Rise, that's what I'll say. (Then again, the hubs don't give me a good feel of their true size. I need CONCEPT ART TO SAVE ME!!!!)

As for the Madou cast... instead of straight up being from another world, I think they'd just be from a distant village (or villages). I'm not TOO familiar with Arle's world, but that's the excuse I'm using! Same applies with Suzuran, and where Lemres, Feli, and Klug originate from. Comically far village! Though... this mainly stems from Primp Village being... prrreetty far away from other civilizations in general (stealing this from some HC that I saw where Primp is far from other towns, basically remote [unless that was already canon]).

As for the residents of the Tetra... well they uh. They live on a spaceship in the games. So, in the AU I'll just make them a traveling group of Hunters (sorta like mercenaries???? but for monsters duh) that go from village to village and help out with any particularly tough monster-related issues. Sorry, that's the best I can come up with...

Small tangent, is it weird I still want magic to be a thing in this AU? Despite the fact that none exists in MH- (Elders can do some goofy stuff, but it's usually from some special organs they possess/bioenergy crud [see: Ibushi and Narwa being able to float due to manipulation of the wind (Ibushi) and something akin to... magnetism, was it? Augh I KNOW it involves the thundersacs and electricity but I haven't played Rise in a fair bit])

Then again, it's an AU and I can technically do whatever I want..... bleh, they don't rely on it TOO much okay but perhaps the residents of Primp (and their neighbors) happen to have some... special powers that give them an edge in hunts and everyday life. I have no idea if I still wanna include Puyo themselves in this. Ehh.... I'll get to that eventually..... oughghjhjjdiskksiskj can you tell this is the most brainpower I've ever put into anything ever?

Oh god, this is becoming long. Too bad, I don't feel like stopping... I'll go onto some ideas for characters that I have... (aka The Trio™️)

Amitie: aw yeah!!! I kinda want her to be the focus in this AU? ahem. I think I want her to use a Sword and Shield, and as for her Hunter Rank I imagine her to be around Low-Early High Rank (4 stars?). I might have to make my own monster rank/difficulty chart for this AU, as there are some monsters I kinda feel are too dangerous for Low Ranks to take on? (see: Elders being in LOW RANK in GU for some ungodly reason, WHY WHY WHY ARE THEY THERE?! [not a complaint, just super hilarious, obviously i'm not taking that as "ooooohh canonically a LR hunter can fight Teostra" just a haha silly thought]) Probably basing it more on Rise/Gu's system works instead of World. Low Rank literally has its own storyline there! (Which obviously is expanded upon in High and probably Master Rank) That... and Hunter Rank isn't tied to the quest rank in World. Not gonna lie, that confused me a little...

Ugh, I went on a tangent.... anyways. Amitie. Sword and Shield User. HR 4 Hunter. I think... she'll have a Rath Heart SnS (why? PINK). Giving her a Fire element weapon might make more sense but... eh, she technically still uses magic in this AU, so it's probably fine. (I can imagine them using magic in tandem with their weapons, or using them as a... conduit? [is that it?] for magic. Think: Schezo's spells, where you can see the magic coming from the sword.) Typically goes on gathering/egg hunt quests, she's not quite good in direct confrontations with monsters! (Still a little klutzy, but when she's in a pinch, she manages to show an impressive-albeit brief- display of power. Not related to any sun goddess here, she's just stronger than she thinks she is!) Prefers to go on quests with other Hunters (Arle and Ringo, more on those two later), especially during a Hunt or Capture quest.

Arle: ALSO uses a Sword and Shield mainly because A) I can't think of anything better and B) hehe funny Arle and Amitie parallels though I can imagine her being proficient in most if not ALL the other weapons available, especially Bow. Can't think of a specific one she'd use though, sorry... I'll get back to that later. A more skilled Hunter than Amitie, she could probably tackle high-end High Rank monsters with ease (HR 7/8), even when going Solo. mmm, not sure about elders. I think it'd be neat if she managed to take down one or two (they're supposed to be fairly rare, I think), with a group of Hunters. (see: other Madou characters [Draco, Schezo, Rulue]). Probably Kushala Daora or Kirin. I consider them to be "easy" Elders (Chameleos is not here because I'd imagine him to be too elusive for her to have encountered... yet.)

Uhhh. Back on track. She currently resides in Primp Village with some other Madou characters. Maybe takes a sorta part-time job at Primp's canteen, I just think it'd be neat for her to make some KILLER curry. Always pumps up and invigorates anyone who eats it. Also just helps around with problems villagers have in general, she's pretty strong!

Ringo: Lives in the far off... town? yeah I'll just go with that of Suzuran. Albeit uncommon, her presence is always appreciated. I think it's mentioned that her family runs a small grocery store in Suzu, soo I think she'd be like... a traveling merchant? Of the food kind. Fresh fruit...? Perhaps her family even owns an orchid, with their apples being quite popular back home. HEY. WAIT. She could be the equivalent of the Argosy/Trader in the MH games! And the market in general. Anyways, although Ringo is not a hunter per say, she still can assist her buds in hunts (see: Sunbreak follower system). When out hunting, she prefers to use a Light Bowgun. (Modified, cause I imagine her with a Thunder or Paralysis iron tree LBG.) Hell, she's pretty damn good at it too. Probably has a good amount of experience fighting monsters, because a lot can happen when you travel around a lot with goods (especially of the food variety) in tow. Oh god, I just remembered those quests in Rise with this ONE dude who keeps getting his stuff wrecked in like... three different quests... by three different monsters..... that man CANNOT catch a break!!!!!!!!! Oh right. Not sure what Ringo's HR would be, cus' she's not officially a hunter. Sorta? Maybe. Would be around Ami's level, if not a tad bit higher. Since she's not quite really a hunter, she doesn't (or can't?) take quests solo. Not that I think she'd have too much of a problem with it, i think.

Um. That's all I got... well, not really. But this is becoming TOO LONG!!! If anyone sees this... lmk what you think? OH. YEAH WAIT BEFORE I FORGET... most of the characters probably are aged up in this AU (young adults?) because I don't think teens are really allowed to risk their lives Hunting that Monster if you get what I mean. No, I'm not counting the Rampage summons.... it's more of a "all hands on deck" kinda deal to be there!

As for how their designs would look.... Amitie's definitely gonna be based off her Swordfighter alt, and Ringo would probably have hers based around the Steam Ages one (but MHified, and that's obviously for her "hunting" look.) Arle? Uh. Probably a more armored version of her normal look. Can't remember any alts in particular. Sorry...

ANYWAYS THAT'S IT FOR REAL!!! Good god I spent too long rambling about this. I think I'm a little bit obsessed....

Okay now I also would like a director's commentary, if you'd be willing to do that!

First of all for the book discussion edit you did which is.....INSANITY ...literally one of the best edits ever ever ever

And also maybe "real funny that things go to hell now that I've found it" because I think it's criminally underrated!!

Also, feel free to pick one of those haha and I might take you up on more some time haha

I am gonna do them both but I'll be doing the second one in a standalone post! Starting with this edit!

because this edit has no lyrics I'm gonna do it like the line of dialogue & the scenes played instead :P

And what do you think the dilemma is?- Starting with the actual scene, Simon is asked the question by the teacher, basically showing that the edit is going to be entirely about Simon's interpretation of the book Kris, which is used as a parallel for wilmon! The text is purple for the teacher, but that's also the colour I use to represent wilmon as a couple so its a little nod to that as well :)

That Malin has grown up with strong Christian ideals, that...- Wilhelm walking through the castle, trying on Erik's old jacket, paralleling Wilhelm's upbringing as a Prince to an extremely religious upbringing. He's been raised in this place, with its long-standing traditions and deep beliefs that permeate into the modern world. He's surrounded by this institution and even though he tries his best to be himself and accept who he is, obviously it has fundamentally carved out his brain in a specific way. The royal upbringing is what made him so afraid of his sexuality, and even when he accepts that there are still parts of him that naturally fall into that safe self-serving mindset.

She has trouble combining with how she really feels.- Wilhelm is left out when August and Erik get to see each other, the etiquette book being forced into his hands, leaving Simon after his mother told him 'no more mistakes.', telling Simon that their kiss was a mistake. He doesn't know how to fit into either box, Prince or Wilhelm. He's in a completely new space and all he's trying to do is be exactly what everyone wants him to be, what he's expected to be. He struggles during the photo-op because he wants to be himself, but he's quickly reminded that he should actually just follow everyone else and fit the mould. This mindset is what makes him leave Simon in E4. He's struggling to find the line between what his upbringing expects of him and what he actually wants, and he can't manage to thread that needle no matter how much he wants to. The one time he figured it out, realising his mistake and backtracking, it didn't change anything. He was forced back into that same box. Despite his best efforts, Wilhelm doesn't know how to balance his title and himself.

Especially about Siv.- The anxious hovering before the kiss in episode 4. He's desperately trying to reassure himself this is okay and that he's allowed to be happy and accept himself even as the Prince. It's all he has, nobody else around him cares like Simon does, and still, he has to hesitate, he's afraid that once he crosses that line he can't go back. I always thought this mirrored the party scene, when Wilhelm looked like he wanted to kiss Simon, but the show cuts before we see (and I don't think they did kiss here tbh). He's so terrified of crossing these barriers he's made in his head, consciously or not, because once he does how will he go back? How could he go back? He doesn't know where to put these feelings, there's no space between his royal upbringing and societal expectations. Both of these scenes feel like a free-fall jump. He's risking everything just to see. To feel something that he's held back from himself, allow himself that experience. Get to know himself.

You wish that Malin could just ignore them,- The outside pressures on Wilhelm rearing their ugly heads. He's a poster-child for Hillerska, especially since Henry confirms that the school board thought Wilhelm would bring more students to the school. The plaque reminding him that he is responsible for the legacy of the school causes him to spiral, because he's a public figure whose name can never be separated from the school but he might be falling for a boy who he can't ever really be with, and he hates it. His mother reminding him that he can't make any more mistakes, that he's the sole heir to the throne and he needs to make the family proud, it just cements this fear. Wilhelm is stuck in this cycle of accept himself/ outside pressure to conform/ accept himself... and it's wearing him down already. He's taking his mother's words and applying them to what he knows she wouldn't like, even though she doesn't know about it. [You] in this scenario is Simon, or at least Wilhelm's interpretation of Simon. He imagines it's irritating watching him go between reaching out and pulling back, how draining it must be for Simon, but he also knows that there's no easy solution to this problem.

I mean, the duties and ideas about God- Again, God in this context is the Royal Family. Wilhelm giving his pre-written speech, Wilhelm giving his pre-planned lie about the tape. These scenes show his duties to the throne. He needs to keep up appearances, come hell or high water. There's a distinct lack of emotion in both scripts (though he does go off-book after Erik's passing, but this isn't a public space, so it makes sense). He is just following exactly what is expected of him, with no real personal attachment, even though both of these things are extremely emotional events. His duty to the Royal Family is to pretend that everything is fine, all the time. To rid himself of his humanity, just be the figurehead he's supposed to be.

It's not just coming from outside, it's her own fault, too.- Wilhelm's admission. It's not just the Royal Court deciding his actions, his every word, thought, and movement. He's accepting blame for himself, too. It's something he's been extremely hesitant to do in the series up until this point, but it was extremely necessary. Wilhelm's acceptance of fault is what helps reform that trust with Simon. It was Wilhelm's own recklessness that almost got him taken out of school, and it was his own naivety that made him believe Simon could trust him post-tape-denial. Yes, there were outside sources, but he wasn't acting as a puppet for the Royal Family, he was making his own decisions as well, and he's acknowledging the hurt that it brought to Simon. A lot of Wilhelm's S2 arc is related to taking responsibility and understanding the pain he's caused, as well as trying to amend it to the best of his ability. Of course, he still messes up, he's a teenager, but he puts in as much effort as he can.

She has been forced to...- I always thought the Queen manipulated Wilhelm by using the dead-brother-card to ensure he didn't confirm the sex tape. He was forced into giving that statement, and I think at this point Simon has begun to realise just how much power and reach Wilhelm's family (more specifically his mother) has over him and his own existence. He's forced to be this perfect son, with no problems, not a hair out of place, and it has shaped him. Even when Wilhelm fights against the manipulation, he knows that it's not going to work, because everyone around him is willing to do whatever it takes to get him to agree. Jan-Olof doesn't care about Wilhelm's upset at the song changing, all he has to do is say 'The Queen Requested It' because he knows that's all Wilhelm needs to hear to back down. His mother knows this, too. Although Wilhelm has free will and makes a lot of bad decisions on his own, his mother's ability to control and manipulate him only makes those bad decisions worse.

Follow those rules.- Wilhelm just wants to be the perfect son, and considering the fact the show starts on a PR disaster, it makes sense that he's doing anything he can to fix that public perception. He won't speak about politics because Royals are supposed to be politically neutral, even though he clearly isn't politically neutral. He tries to thread the needle, which endears Simon but also shows his fear of further repercussions. He's already lost so much after the fight video, so he's on his best behaviour now. Even months later, he still struggles with regulating emotions and suppressing his anxiety, causing him to be mad at himself for not doing enough. Not being the perfect boy who doesn't want to be openly queer and isn't upset that his ex-boyfriend has a new boyfriend. He can't pretend that he feels okay with these rules, but he also can't let himself bend them. The breakdown after the first kiss is the biggest reflection of this. Yes, he kissed Simon back the second time, but once he was reminded that this was real life where others were nearby and there could be public ramifications to being caught like that, suddenly he's desperately spewing out anything that could remotely sound like he's straight. When Simon actually listens and tries to leave, though? That's also bad. He can't break the rules, but he also can't imagine letting this go. The rules he has to follow just trample him and cause more harm than good, and Simon recognises this.

She can't just throw away everything she's ever learned about right and wrong.- Mostly just highlighting the differences between when Wilhelm was kissed by Felice and when he was kissed by Simon. The kiss with Simon felt right, he was surprised but wanted it to continue. The kiss with Felice didn't. He can't throw away everything he's learned about what's right and wrong for him. It kind of was supposed to spin the line on its head. It's not what he's been taught as right and wrong, but what he's learned, from experience.

She discovers that- The therapy session with Boris, the one where Wilhelm realises he actually can be emotionally vulnerable with Simon and tell him how he feels, and let him be informed. He's finally learning that he has some say and control in his life, that it isn't just predetermined because of who he is and what he was born into. There's this change in expression that emphasises his sudden realisation, like his whole world has been spun on its head.

She wants to change her life,- Confronting Simon with his feelings!!! Simon had asked him to just be open and honest, and for once, he actually is. He wants to change, he wants to have control in his life, and he wants to pursue what's actually important to him! Of course, he tells Simon don't charge August because then I can't abdicate BUT he gives him the option to do whatever feels right. He isn't demanding control of a situation which is out of his hands, he's just letting Simon know his options. Also he apologises and is the bigger person about the wrongs he's done, he's changing for the better. His love is making him better.

Because of what she learns through her feelings for Siv.- Wilhelm has grown a lot throughout the course of his relationship with Simon, even when they weren't together a lot of his growth is centred around Simon and wanting to fix their relationship- and by extension himself. Happy, silly wilmon contrasted with more emotional and sad wilmon not only shows how much they've been through together, how much they've faced together, but also just hammers home the depth of their connection. Wilhelm feels safe and vulnerable with Simon, and Simon feels comfortable and happy with Wilhelm. They're always reaching out or touching each other in these scenes, the constant affection between them just emphasises their love and connection which is what this edit is all about.

So it isn't all bad, and we don't know what happens after the book ends.- - More wilmon comforting each other, lots of touching and holding and love. Even when their relationship is in a bad place, there's still that love and care there in every action they do together. Everything they do is an output of their love- even when they're upset and fighting is because they love each other and they're hurt and don't know how to express it. They just want to hold each other together and keep close, and the beauty in that pure expression of love just carries through the scenes so nicely. They're in love your honour!!!

Closing Scene- I chose this scene because it is just such a perfect encapsulation of wilmon to me. The soft, gentle movements and the warm lighting, the comfort and safety they feel... it's also my favourite scene in the whole show but that's just my opinion etc... truly what I want is for wilmon to have a silly little morning after scene that isn't tainted with the agony to come. We don't know what happens after young royals ends, but I imagine it is gonna be that scene every morning because they're in love!!!!! and I do not care what anyone else says!!!

FONT CHOICE

The font I used is I'm DW pica!!! it's the folklore/evermore font, and I think it has storytelling vibes and that kinda links back to the whole It's A Story For English Class thing :P

Also the text changes colour between Simon's voice and Wilhelm's voice because usually (read: if I'm making my edit like a conversation) I'll colour the texts to match who's speaking (or who matches the current lyrics, or who's POV I'm editing from). When I do this, Simon's text is always a yellow-gold and Wilhelm's is always a teal-blue.

COLOURING

The beginning of the edit has a pale pinky-reddy colouring over it, it's quite desaturated and it's supposed to feel quite cold and hopeless. In sadder edits I'll usually use a red/pink/purple or sometimes a blue pallet for colouring, and it'll be very desaturated. However, by the line she discovers that the colouring actually shifts to a warm golden tint (most of the time my gold colourings are modified from the S1E5 opening scene). Basically showing how he's gaining control and hope and life is looking better and happier :)

by the way how I shift colours in edits is literally just having two layers with the different colour overlays and making one go from 0-100% opacity at the same rate as the other goes from 100-0%. It looks pretty smooth imo :3

Get to Know Me - Sims Edition

If you saw me accidentally post this before I filled it out and had to private it really quick, no you didn't. 😚

What’s your favorite Sims death?

In Sims 2, the satellite death and death by flies. I used those constantly.

In Sims 3, the meteor death (obviously) and the time sickness death. The meteor one because of how devastating it is while still making your surviving Sims a shit load of money and the time sickness one for how existentially horrifying it is. You just get Marty McFly'd right out of reality! 😱 I haven't had a Sim die that way when it wasn't on purpose and I'm willing to bet not many other Simmers have either. It's a pretty rare death.

In Sims 4, it's the pufferfish death and the Rabid Rodent Fever death. So visceral and mildly disturbing! When Sims 4 gets it right, it gets it right!

Alpha CC or MaxisMatch?

Alpha hair in Sims 3 because it's an absolute necessity, but I don't mind most of the EA clothes so I guess that's Maxis Mix?

When I played Sims 4, I was Maxis Match all the way except when it came to makeup and skin details.

Do you cheat your sims weight?

Not as much as I cheat their muscle slider. I find it preposterous that a Sim with no muscle definiton can go for one jog and come back shredded. I am constantly cheating their muscle mass back down to a more realistic level.

Do you move objects?

Of course, how do you live without that? In fact, I even have a button on my gaming mouse programmed to it.

Favorite Mod?

The transmogfrifer mod by icarus_allsorts and the stencil remover by velocity grass. I use these so much, I forget they're not naturally in the game.

First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack?

Like, the first one ever? Sims 2 University. I played Sims 1 back in the day but I never had a single expansion pack for it. I didn't even know what expansion packs were until Sims 2.

Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing

Both. 🫣 I don't know which way is the "official" way, so I just alternate my pronunciation depending on what feels right at the time.

Many times! I've had Simselves in Sims 2, Sims 3, and Sims 4.

Which is your favorite EA hair color?

In Sims 3, you don't have to use swatches for hair so I almost never use the premade ones. However, there is a nice deep reddish brown that I quite like. I use it as a base frequently.

Favorite EA hair?

Most of the Sims 3 EA hairs are horrible even with retextures, so...none lol.

Favorite life stage?

I'm gonna be boring and say YA. 🤷‍♀️

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?

Gameplay. I can't build to save my life.

No, I want to make CC but I have no artistic talent and I wouldn't even know where to start.

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

It hasn't changed that much, honestly. I am a bit more story-focused and a lot less murder-y, but that's about it. For the most part, I still have attention span issues and tend to start a lot of new saves lmao.

Rabbitmancer. You can add me if you want but I almost never turn the online features on in game so it doesn't really do anything.

How long have you had simblr?

About...a year? I don't actually know. I've been on Tumblr in the past, though I left around 2015-2016, but I never dove into the Simblr community. @happy-lemon talked me into starting a Simblr and I'm so glad she did!

How do you edit your pictures?

I don't edit my pictures all that often because I do not know what I'm doing. I use ReShade and if I need to make minor edits, I'll do so in Paint.NET like a pleb.

What expansion/ gamepack is your favorite?

Sims 2: Open For Business. In fact, it's my favorite expansion of all time.

Sims 3: It changes often but it's Ambitions right now. There's so much in Sims 3 to love!

Sims 4: Uh... I plead the fifth. 😑

Mass Effect Tag Game

I stole this from @onedismay and anyone can now proceed to steal it from me

I am a fan since: The release of Legendary Edition, which came out on my birthday. And--1500+ hours of playtime later--It's the gift that keeps on giving lol

Favourite game of the series?: Mass Effect 2 is definitely my favourite because there just feels like there's so much more at stake and all the new characters introduced are great

MShep or FShep?: Most of my Sheps are women but I do have a few men even though I technically haven't played all of them yet

Earthborn, Colonist or Spacer?: I know a lot of people probably consider this the boring option, but I do prefer Earthborn because, for whatever reason, I have a thing about my OCs never knowing their parents

Biotics or Tech: 100% tech, I don't fuck with biotics

Paragon or Renegade: My main Shep is renegade with a touch of paragon

Favourite Class: Infiltrator is my go-to class, but I'll admit that I don't have a lot of experience with any of the other classes

Favourite Companion: Uhm all the techies are essentially my faves lol so Garrus, Tali, EDI, Legion, Kasumi, and Mordin. I also adore Joker, who I feel like gets accidentally excluded a lot because he's not someone who can tag along on missions. Then I have a bit of a soft spot for Vega. Oh, and Aria is pretty much the only asari character I enjoy lol

Least favourite Companion: I might get hate for this, but Liara. I hate how forced she is on you in the first game, and the fact that that does change for the rest of the series makes me so uncomfortable. I literally don't even both talking to her. Ever. I forget she's there half the time. If it weren't for the couple missions in ME3 where you're forced to take her, she would never leave the ship

My squad selection: Garrus is almost always there. I've forced myself to broaden my selection in recent playthroughs and utilise (almost) everyone, but Garrus is still definitely a top pick. Tali is up there, as well. Frankly, this answer is essentially the same as my fave companion(s) plus Wrex

Favourite In-game romance: Garrus. The only romance I honestly give a shit about

Other pairings I like: Joker and EDI, 100%. I'm also into the Jack/Miranda pairing, and I enjoy the thought of Ash and James ending up together

Favourite NPC: This is probably the proper place to mention Joker and Aria, but I'm not going back to edit my other answer including them lol

Favourite Antagonist: I'm not sure I really have one. Saren had potential and it would've been neat if he had stuck around for at least another game, but obviously that didn't happen. The Illusive Man was kinda lame and just overall a nuance soooo idk Udina? lmao

Favourite Mission: I'm not entirely sure... I don't think I necessarily have a favourite because they're all mandatory, for the most part. Even if they're not mandatory story-wise, they are to level up so it's ike...idk none of them really stick out to me and I dread something about each of them, to be honest lol

Favourite Loyalty Mission: Obligatory Garrus answer, but then I also enjoy Tali's mission, uhm... Kasumi's is fun, Mordin's is good, aaaand that's probably it

Favourite DLC: Citadel, hands down. Just the absolutely campiness and insanity of it. I mean, it was a good way to lighten the mood of what the rest of ME3 is, so the ridiculousness of it was honestly much appreciated. A close second would probably be between Omega and Leviathan

Control, Synthesis or Destroy: I prefer Synthesis. I don't give a shit what people say about it, I'm not going through all that bullshit of ending a 300-year long war between the Quarians and Geth just to fucking destroy the Geth in the end. It's pointless. Plus, I could never do that to EDI

Favourite Weapon: While I usually am the Infiltrator class, I always choose assault rifles as my specialisation (or just use them in general when I can), so in ME2 my go-to is the Mattock while in ME3 it's the Valkyrie or Chakram Launcher. As for sniper rifles, in ME2 it's the Viper and in ME3 it's the Valiant

Favourite Place: I enjoy Omega and Illium the most. I wish we could've explored them more because I feel like there was so much lost potential there.

See I love this but I also love the idea of demi Bakugou experiencing his first everything with you. I don’t know which I like more. 😅

Though I do appreciate the aspects of the first. It would make sense; he’d have no issues finding someone wanting to date him. And I do believe sincerely that he longs for that ‘person,’ someone who loves him and has his back no matter what. And all his friends are pairing off, getting married, having babies, etc. He’s very apprehensive, but he gives dating a shot.

And it just keeps not working out. One after the other. I could see him giving up, staying single for several years. By the time you come around, he’s become so jaded about the entire thing. That longing within him has never stopped, but he’s believed for a long time that it’s just a stupid ass fairytale he’s concocted in his head and it will never become a reality. Throws himself even more into his hero work than before. Hates how empty it makes him feel, no matter how hard he works, how hard he tries. It fails to fill that void within him.

And then we finally enter the picture and man’s is hella shook. 😁 (I am also electing to ignore the latest manga events. Nope. Nope. Nope.)

Obviously there are a bunch of different ways this could all go down. I love exploring the possibilities!

Gonna hyperventilate over this tbh, AS THAT'S LITERALLY EXACTLY HOW I IMAGINE IT!!!

Here's this guy named Bakugo... who could have anybody he wanted, not because people like him... but because they like that he's handsome, somewhat of a celebrity, and rich; and because he wants love, or at least... isn't against it, he gives it a shot... only to be shot down time and time again because, as it turns out (/s), his cold exterior... doesn't just go away like magic when he's offered pwuss.

(I like playing on the trope of "rough guy only soft for his lover..." as I think the public probably thinks his attitude is kind of a joke, that he just puts up a front to hide his soft side, boo hoo, and when you get to know him, he's instantly nice.

We all know that isn't the case, though.)

I talk a lot about that all the time, though, and don't want to repeat everything you already said, but... you could probably even combine that idea w/ the demi headcanon too, cuz you don't have to rule out one to have the other, you know? Bakugo who knows/thinks he can love and longs for it... but keeps getting into all these relationships that just don't work out...

...that he wonders WHAT he's doing wrong. He keeps trying and trying to love all these people but never feels like he really... falls for any of them, nor thinks he's even all that attracted to any of them beyond... certain aesthetics.

(Maybe he even tells them he needs time and it’s just not taken seriously…)

And they get mad at him ofc, for starting, or agreeing, to something he never really follows through with... and then just being his usual self (which means kind of a jerk). But it's not like he's not equally as confused or frustrated by it all; worn down by being told he was lying or not going fast enough or even that he's "different" than they expected... which is how + why he probably ends up being okay with dumping someone or being dumped, and then later, giving up entirely.

It's only when you come around and just... be his friend, let him take his time, explore the natural course of your relationship... that he finally realizes what was going on. He better than anyone knows you can't light a fuse that isn't there, but it's sometimes possible to make one. And then he falls. Falls hard. Falls forever.

Just took that extra bit of time no one else was willing to give him (and you being you, ofc) cuz they were too busy thinking he was a jerk (which... no shit, Sherlock). Then he never leaves you.

MBJR BROTPS PART 2 (OUTSIDE OF MBJR EDITION) PLEASE?

Horobi + Delmo: It's basically the "I don't know how I ended up here, but here I am" situation of friends. But because Delmo is close to Naki, Horobi ends up kind of being invited into this circle. Delmo is this ray of sunshine that Horobi isn't sure how to handle half of the time but simply enjoys her boundless energy and her confidence to do something good in the world. She also helps bring him out of his shell via literally dragging him out to shop with her. If there's negative press about it, Delmo flies into this rage and Horobi is honestly considering signing adoption papers for her. In fact, Delmo was one of the prime influences on Horobi learning how to knit.

Horobi + Yua: Again, because Horobi spends a lot of time with Naki, he ends up becoming friends with Yua though even the word "friend" is loose and it's more so...work buddies? He's not as close with her compared to Naki but Horobi merely finds her fascinating. He is content to watch her work and how she interacts with people and sure there is tension between them but they're working past it. Working with humans is daunting and while he hasn't worked up the courage to fully be able to talk to Aruto juuust yet, Yua is this nice medium because she gives him heartfelt advice on how to go about the world.

Naki + Yua: Obviously going to be put on here but these two very much work well together and are often found walking to and from work together. They are comfortable in silence but there are other times when they will chat about things at work or things outside of work. Naki is often found going with Yua to amusement parks because they can handle her maniac energy sometimes. But really, they simply enjoy each other's quiet presence. They're both pretty introverted so sometimes they spend a night at Yua's house, watching movies or documentaries together, watching Yua cook, and they're just comfy around each other and sometimes that's all you need.

Naki + Isamu: Another no-brainer due to the situation between the two. If Yua is this calm yet whack ass presence, Naki and Isamu together is basically Naki holding on to a feral dog's leash and being the only one allowed to pet it. These two had a lot of healing to do before they were able to properly talk together in a positive context but now Naki just likes sending Isamu stupid little puns and jokes just to make him laugh. It makes them laugh inwardly as well. They're the kind of friends that crash at each other's place because they were bored and had nothing else to do and Naki likes Isamu's emotional whack-ass sometimes. Isamu also gave them ideas for the punishment wheel for the Metsuboujinrai game and actually, these two play games together often. They're both highly competitive.

Jin + Aruto: Next to Ikazuchi, Jin is the one of the only members of MBJR that visits Hiden often. He's gotten along with Aruto since all of this shit had ended and he doesn't...um...use the door half of the time. He just flies up to Aruto's roof top and gives him a call, or just bang on his office window like, "LET ME IN!!!!" and then tumbles into his office. These two just talk about anything and everything, and he brings Aruto food more often than not. Sure he may not fully understand all of Aruto's jokes but he thinks they're cutely funny. While it is true that Jin is kind of the bridge to mend the relationship between Aruto and Horobi, Jin simply enjoys the same bouts of energy Aruto gives off. They often are found going out on adventures, checking up on Humagears, patrolling, etc.

Jin + Izu: Since regaining her Singularity, Izu and Jin have hung around one another just as often as Aruto and Jin. It's similar to a sibling-like relationship since Izu did consider Was Nazotoku as a brother and Jin's eccentrics slightly reminds her of him...it's like finding a home again. He was very eager to get to know her despite what happened between them and while Izu is still rough around the edges and kind of stiff, she has come to value Jin as a brother-like figure and has been found joining him on patrols and giving him advice on how to better interact with humans. In return, Jin often takes Izu flying and has taught her how to defend herself outside of the Zero Two suit since uh...she...uh...has a lack of danger in herself. He reminds her that she's important to many people and must take care of herself, and she reminds him ofo the same.

Ikazuchi + Aruto: As stated before, Ikazuchi has the most positive relationship with Aruto next to Jin, but perhaps has a better relationship with Aruto than the other does with the president. Sometimes you can hear Aruto accidentally slip out "Aniki!" whenever they see each other. This only triggers his brotherly instincts further and he just laughs, teasing the president but really he basically signed the adoption papers. These two often go out riding on their bikes just around the city together, or walk around the city in a very loose sort of "patrol" but more so to relax. Ikazuchi does worry that Aruto is overworking himself and Aruto worries about the general well-being of the other. Aruto is always ready to help tune him up too.

Ikazuchi + Isamu: These two share one fucking brain cell, and it dangles right above their shared heads, completely out of reach. It's like they both lose it whenever they're together. They bicker and argue but immediately will jump to each other's defense if someone else is picking on them. They're homies who are simply comfy with picking on each other but also getting real with one another over like a cup of beer. Hot-headed as the two are, they make bets with one another over the dumbest shit but there are times when they're not at each other's throats. They're just content to laze around Isamu's apartment, him drinking a beer and Ikazuchi surfing through the channels, each of them talking about their day and asshats and joking that they should totally slash their tires. Also do not let them go to an arcade together. A machine is going to break.

After the Show

Taiji: Anybody else think it's super weird that we did a Valentine's Day show in early December?

Haru: When does anything in our schedule ever make sense? Anyway, the fans who were there didn't seem to think it was weird.

Ryu: We couldn't do it closer to the actual day because we'll be on the road and the tour schedule's already set. Plus, they had to record it now so the production people can have plenty of time to edit it and do whatever for the TV show they're making.

Haru: So that's what all the stuff about people watching online was about? 'Cause I knew it wasn't being livestreamed.

Ryu: Yeah. They're doing that Love Day Special, and it's going to be broadcast online on SimFlix. Remember, Sarah was telling us about it?

Haru: I probably wasn't paying attention. I hardly ever listen to Sarah. That's your job.

Taiji: What'd she say they're calling it? 'Love Out Loud', like what we suggested our next album should be called?

Ryu: I think that's it, unless they change it. From what I understood, they're going to be doing interviews with all of us on the first leg of the tour, and they're going to be using some of the footage from all the days the video crew have been following us around.

Taiji: What are they going to be interviewing us about?

Ryu: I don't know all the questions they're going to ask, but Sarah mentioned something about them asking what love means to us.

Taiji: Well, that should be interesting.

Haru: I know what I'm going to say.

Ryu: It'd better be something clean.

Haru: Hey! Would I be inappropriate on TV?

Ryu: Yes.

Taiji: I can't wait to hear how Senjirō and Keigo handle the question. That should set off a media frenzy when it airs.

Haru: I don't think they'd say anything inappropriate on TV either. They know better. It'll be fine.

Taiji: Maybe.

Haru: What're you gonna say when they ask you the question?

Taiji: I don't know. I could probably tell them what love isn't.

Haru: Yeah? What would you say for that?

Taiji: It isn't what all those creepy stans say it is. You know the ones I mean. The 'marry me Haru' people, and all the ones writing cringey fanfiction and making up all those wild theories and rumours about us. What do they call themselves? The shippers?

Haru: I think that’s a general fanfiction term. It’s like, when you fantasize about two characters being together, even if it’s not actually that way in the movie or whatever.

Taiji: That’s messed up.

Haru: Facts, but I don’t make the rules.

Taiji: No, those freakishly obsessed people do, or they think they do. They're always the ones screaming 'I love you' the loudest, but they obviously don't respect us as actual humans. In my opinion, that's the farthest thing from love. That’s what I’d say.

Haru: I'm... not sure you should say that on a SimFlix show. That might literally be inappropriate.

Ryu: As surprised as I am to be admitting this, Haru's right. Regardless of how you actually feel about it, criticizing fans probably isn't the greatest idea, little brother.

Taiji: But, I want people to know I'm more than just a famous face. I'm not some object or a made-up character. I want them to know that all of us are real human beings with feelings, and that I don't like any of us being objectified. It's like, offensive and disgusting.

Haru: Then, maybe say it just like that. You don't have to call fans creepy or cringey to make your point.

Taiji: But, they are.

Haru: Not all of them. I mean, yeah, probably some of them are super stalkerish, but probably there are a lot who just don't realize. Like, me and Eden talked about this, and he apologized to me for being one of the 'marry me Haru' people.

Taiji: Really?

Haru: Yeah. Not that I minded at all. I think it's funny, and you know I love playing into it. But, Eden said he felt bad 'cause he felt like he wasn't treating me like a real person when he commented stuff like that online.

Ryu: That's insightful of him.

Haru: He's sensitive like that. I wasn’t mad, and it was really adorable how he was so upset thinking I would be. Not that I wanted him to be upset, but like… it was sweet that he was so concerned about my feelings once he realized.

Ryu: You two are really taking this whole relationship thing seriously, aren’t you?

Haru: I don’t understand why everybody’s so surprised.

Taiji: The real surprise is that you haven’t slept together yet.

Haru: We’re waiting for the right moment.

Taiji: So, you actually took my advice.

Haru: Yeah, and he thanked me for respecting him. We’ve had a couple of steamy video chats, but we’re both trying to be good and like, have boundaries and stuff.

Ryu: That’s commendable, Haru. Maybe you’re capable of maturity after all.

Haru: Let’s not jump to any hasty conclusions.

Taiji: I think the correct response is ‘thank you’, Haru.

Haru: Thank you, Haru.

Taiji: You’re such a dumbass.

Haru: *laughing*

Taiji: Real talk, though. You’re brave, trying to have a relationship with someone outside the industry while you’re still in it.

Haru: What do you mean?

Taiji: I mean, I wouldn’t want to subject anybody I cared about to this life. I can’t imagine a potential girlfriend of mine going from being relatively anonymous to being shoved into this situation with like, freakin' maniacal fans coming up with all kinds of wild shit, the media watching and analyzing literally everything, and virtually no privacy whatsoever.

Ryu: That's a good point. Haru, you should probably talk with Eden about that before things get any more serious between you. He should know what he’s in for if he decides to stay with you.

Haru: What do you mean, if? You think he’d leave me over that?

Taiji: I would, if it were me. Personally, if I’d known about this madness, I’d have gone with my original plan and I’d be in university right now, studying to be a music teacher. Maybe have a low key solo career or do some composing on the side. I could still be doing what I love, but with the added bonus of people actually taking me seriously.

Haru: You don't know Eden. He’s not like you.

Taiji: Just wait until the shippers get hold of him and start writing him into their dodgy little sex scenes and hurt-comfort plots or whatever. We’ll see if he lasts after that.

Haru: Okay, first of all, can you not say my boyfriend’s name in the same breath as ‘dodgy sex scene’? It's gross. Eden is a gentleman, and all his sex scenes would be classy. And second…

Taiji: Yeah?

Haru: No… actually, never mind. I guess you do have a point. I never considered that stuff because I was too caught up in being happy that somebody likes me for me, and not because I’m famous. But, I guess bring famous could wreck it.

Taiji: Might as well get used to being alone.

Haru: Oh.

Ryu: Taiji, that’s not very kind.

Taiji: Just telling it as I see it.

Ryu: Brutal honesty isn’t always the best approach. I think we already told you that tonight. Haru, as for you and Eden, I really do think the best thing to do is explain everything to him and let him decide for himself. If he decides to stay, he needs to be prepared.

Haru: Yeah. That's going to be a hard conversation, though. And what if the fame is a deal-breaker for him?

Ryu: Hopefully it won't be, but if it is, we'll help you get through the aftermath.

Taiji: Yeah. We still love you.

Haru: Sometimes it's hard to tell.

Taiji: Sorry. Does this make you feel better? A little affection?

Haru: Uhh... no.

Taiji: What? Why not?

Haru: 'Cause I know you're just here to fall asleep on me.

Taiji: Because you're softer. Ryu is too muscly.

Haru: I need new friends.

Ryu: Why don't the two of you go to your room and get in your beds? Both of you look like you're ready to fall asleep.

Haru: I'd rather stay here for a while. I'd just get in bed and worry about stuff and not sleep anyway.

Taiji: Me too.

Ryu: Is there anything else you need to talk about?

Haru: Truthfully, I think I'd rather be distracted from my problems right now.

Taiji: Same.

Haru: Ryu, maybe you can tell us about your love life. Since I spilled about mine, it's only fair.

Ryu: I don't have a love life.

Taiji: I think Ji-Soo might be annoyed to hear you say that.

Haru: Did you work up the nerve to tell her how you feel yet?

Ryu: I decided I'm not going to.

Haru: Why not?

Ryu: Because she'd get fired if we started anything. Unlike you and Eden, we have that pesky little dilemma of a conflict of interest.

Haru: I don't know what's worse, caring about somebody you might lose because of your work, or finding the perfect person but not even being able to get with them because of your work. This whole thing sucks, if you really wanna know.

Taiji: Maybe you should just do like I do, and avoid the idea of relationships altogether.

Ryu: Easier said than done.

Taiji: Dude, this job is hard enough without complicating it like that. It's already enough to make a person want to run away. Who'd want to make it worse by adding a partner whose expectations you'd have to manage along with managing everything else?

Haru: 'Speak for yourself. I personally can't wait till Eden and I get to a place where we start having expectations about our relationship. You know, if we make it that far.

Ryu: Try to think positively, Haru. He may turn out to love fame as much as you do and not have any issues with all the attention. You might have a long and happy partnership.

Haru: I'm guessing I probably shouldn't hold my breath just yet, but I really hope you're right.

Did you get to know anything earlier because you were a mod?

Did you get paid in any way to do it?

Why did you decide to stop?

And what was it like “behind the scenes”?

I'm going to answer under the cut because A, there are spoilers and B, there's a lot to be said here. I'm not trying to keep anyone from playing the games, supporting the games or anything. This was my personal experience and I can't say that it's still going the same way. Also editing to add that I am still no in support of a petition against season 5. I sit on my Tumblr blog in peace.

We did get to know a few things. For one, I was pretty verified that Eddie, Suresh and Finn are LIs. The person who worked for Fusebox said they wanted there to be a thread for each main LI and said, for example: Team Suresh and Team Eddie. They also said Finn was their favorite LI, so that's how I was able to put on Tumblr that I can confirm that. I left (I'll get into why later) but two of the four OG Mods stayed and got information on Gabrielle. They were given her sprite (I saw it too, they sent it to me) but were told not to leak it so we've known what she looked like for about a month now even though it's recent that she was leaked through the files. That week's episodes talked about the turtle tattoo girl but the Fusebox person heavily implied to the remaining mods that Gabrielle is an LI. So yes, we did get some insider information.

But we did get paid 130 gems and 5 passes for a month. So basically 4.333 gems a day. Really not enough, not for what we had to deal with.

I decided to stop for a few reasons. One reason was a member was extremely hostile towards everyone but decided they wanted to pick fights with me in specific. They would ping me out of nowhere to bash Youcef (like I cared because I didn’t) but it was clearly that they just wanted to hurt me. This member did not like when I pushed back on them and pitched a fit which ended in them trying to delete their messages they sent (but the bot literally saved all of them). This member also has sent me a hate message on Tumblr recently, too even though this happened a month and a half ago. Nothing happened to this member either even though they were bullying other members plus mods, it was completely ignored by the person who was from Fusebox.

Another reason was the way things were handled, which will answer the behind the scenes question. The rules were too flimsy and it seemed that Fusebox was focused on there being only positivity for Season 5 but there were some comments that made other mods and other members uncomfortable (the comment I'm referring to is about Will and the member said they had an 'Asian fetish'). There was nothing done about this, instead it was said by the person who worked for Fusebox that it was just poor word choice but they were very descriptive. I can't talk too much on this as it was a different mod that dealt with this. If you want elaboration, I'd be happy to talk with the others and craft a reply that we'd want to put out on this.

Around the same time, we were told we were in our 'cliques' and we needed to be more professional. We do not work for Fusebox, we are basically volunteers but being told we need to 'act professional' which taken as you shouldn't act as yourself. We understood to an extent but four of the OG mods were asked to come over from the fan server because they liked the atmosphere of the fan server. There was no discussion about how they wanted to act, no expectations or guidelines so we went thinking they wanted us to interact with the members like friends and keep discussions going. We were all very upset when we were scolded and lectured. We were told that if a professional company like "Netflix" came in to look at the Discord server, we would look unprofessional. Well, we don't work for Fusebox. If you want someone to act like Fusebots, then have people who work at Fusebox run the server. We were also left by ourselves on weekends (which are obviously very busy times) and the Fusebox person never logged on, even though we had issues where needed help.

Anyone from the OG Fan server knows we had these cute little acronyms that we used and people started using them on the main server which blew up. Fusebox was very against it but when we suggested making roles so members could show which LIs and characters they liked instead so we could get them to remove the acronyms, they shut it down.

About a week later, I left alongside another mod (we actually left together at the same time) because we couldn't take it anymore. This mod isn't on Tumblr, they're just a close friend. Last we know, some of the mods are openly bashing Season 5, which we were basically told we shouldn't do.

Emerson is an amazing drummer and incredible artist (I am SO jelly of his ability to draw architecture) and Sebastian is a brilliant guitarist and is the brain cell posessor (and probably has to routinely keep remi from jumping off stuff and breaking a limb with only partial success.) the grittiness and sincerety and emotion in remington's voice really just scratches my brain in a way that nothing else does. If I could get his voice made into something tangible I would open my skull and rub my brain against it for hours. I fucking love him.

"doing lines of dust and sweat off of last nights stage just to feel like you" from 27??????? lives in my head rent free. been into some of their absolute headbangers from american beauty/american psycho and infinity on high recently like novocaine, jetpack blues (i'm sorry but "do you reMEMBER HOW WE USED TO SPLIT. Welcome to another edition of Mellow has something to say!!

So you guys know how I'm super duper excited for Kento's Kingdom 2, right? And I've been hopping between Instagram and Twitter to check for news on the same because I just can't wait. So a few days ago, I was just on twt, and I saw this stupid af rumor about Kento that obviously was completely baseless because the person who made that rumor used words you wouldn't find in an actual accusation.

Anyway, the rumor itself was cheap to be playing it down, and it accused him of allegedly "partying with minors." As if? Like sure, I'm not saying some delusional shit like, "Kento is the most innocent guy ever, he could never do that," because I know when and how much to trust your celebrities. But I also know that the way that person framed their accusation was totally baseless, and the fact that they even had the audacity to call him an "ugly actor" in the same tweet further confirmed it.

Oh and also, they also mentioned a couple of details like being with his friend Mackenyu at the club and the year being around 2017 which actually make it seem as if they took the shooting of Kiss That Kills (bc that's pretty much set in a host club) and turned it into something ugly. Plus, they apparently also posted a pic of an actor with their original tweet and it wasn't of Kento but some other guy, and yet they're claiming they're talking about Kento-

But as if this wasn't enough to disgust me, I came to know that that person is a KPop stan, ulting a group that I stan as well. And while said group is making it big in Japan because they have a Japanese member, this person probably specifically targeted Kento bc they know he's currently the biggest Japanese celebrity and bringing him down would work in said group's favor (in that person's eyes, anyway). I mean, I absolutely hate to say this, but we all know what toxic KPop fans can be like, so that's what it is.

AND on top of that, there's even been people comparing how certain KPop idols (super famous ones too) resemble Kento these days, because he's sporting long hair recently and they too have grown their hair out. This has resulted in the thread about the rumor somehow getting mixed up with the one about the comparisons, and now it's getting much more clout than that shitty rumor-spreading skunk deserves.

And while Kento does have a solid fanbase, we all know how huge KPop fanbases are, so even though his fans are trying to stop the rumor from spreading, it is hard bc the idols who are caught up in this have gigantic fan followings.

He literally is coming back with a film that he loves so much after a whole year being pretty much MIA, and this is how he's being welcomed. It's honestly making me sick to the stomach and I am legit so mad at this person. Like sure, you don't have to like Kento or support him, but at least don't try to bring him down like that. It's downright disgusting. You should be ashamed.

Thank God almighty, I'm free at last! (report and... book review? ish? - august 26)

I can't do the Night Owl Thing anymore. I could in my teens and early twenties. Now, whenever I start Sleeping Weird, it's not as easy as shifting my schedule around, even for a freelancer like me, who technically has the freedom for it.

After two or three days, there always comes a point when I'm exhausted regardless of hours slept. Sleep cycles get increasingly chaotic, too. Getting my eight hours from 8am to 4pm quickly turns into sleeping two four-hour shifts, and then taking two-to-three hour naps every three or four hours.

All of this to say: I was useless all day yesterday, even while I was awake. Alas. I'm making a concerted effort to get more sunlight, and exercising, and taking my meds on time.

It must have done something, because here I am today, still living at night, but sleeping better! And GUESS WHAT? I'm finally DONE with my history book!

HISTORY 👑

I really can't impress upon you the sheer relief that comes with being finally done with this fucking thing. At best, it was a painfully dry read that needed so many more edits, if you ask me. I think part of it was the author's incompetence, and also the fact that this was the second book on this series. So, if we want to be charitable, we can attribute the book's lack of polish to a time-crunch. But I don't know how charitable I want to be here, because Yofre isn't a good writer, but he's not This Bad. The man is an accomplished journalist. He knows how to turn events into passably enganging narrative. So I get the feeling that no small part of this... general messiness was a conscious decision to obsfucate the telling as much as possible. This is a book trying to paint a literal dictatorship as a "failed project", and the human-rights-violating perpetrators as incompetent and dishonest. It's not that they violated human rights. It's that they should have come clean about it, you know? It's not that they took down a constitutional government (after all, it was just SO unpopular), it's that they weren't any better at the job. And I think think this even comes through in the formatting. Gone are the character portraits of the first book. He'll drown you with dates and names and events, but will refuse to tell you who's who except for scant career details, and their current position in government. Gone are the footnotes at the... well, foot of the page, where they'd be most convenient. Are they at the end of the book, the second most convenient place? Nope. They're at the end of each chapter. So, if you want to be diligent about checking them, every time you start a chapter you have to flip ahead to where it ends, and stick a second bookmark there, so you can jump back and forth. Every time. I did it. I can easily picture most people not bothering. Unfortunate decisions? Maybe. But awfully convenient, if you ask me, when you compare the purpose of the two books: One was a chronology of the previous government's downfall. It was an objectively bad government, and clarity played in the author's favor. At least where the government was concerned. Whenever he touched on members of the armed forces were concerned, you got the same kind of minimalistic profiling you got in this book, while terrorists and government officials got extensive character portraits. But hey, it was slightly competent journalism, if obviously biased. Here, though? There's no part of this book where clarity would help the point. Any point. This book is so biased it can barely say anything without shooting itself in the foot, so constantly throwing raw, barely relevant data at the reader is its best bet. Do I regret choosing it as reference? No. It was on hand (inherited) and I got what I wanted out of it. In fact, this last day was especially fruitful. I took more notes today than during the whole previous week. But I won't be going out of my way to find more books by this guy. Forget the dubious ethics. I just don't want to be bored to death.

Today is May 30th.

For safety reasons, I'm posting this over here. I have some screen caps that I need to edit for privacy, but I'm going to start here:

I am obviously not innocent in all of this. Sure, my job is the reason we were able to get the first apartment. When we moved in, I wanted my now-ex to help out, get a job, go in 50/50 with me. After all, why have a partner if they aren't working and aren't helping out around the house? Those people are called friends and they live in other homes.

More recently, I have, I of course think for good reason, been concealing any fertility success I may have been having. My body, my choice. I can have sex with who I want, I can get pregnant or not as my body permits and as I please.

My partner threatened to steal my bank card and I have also been playing in to that. Why not, what the hell. They launched an about seven-pound box at my fucking head. I literally don't even care if they meant for it to hit my head. It does not matter if they believe it hit me in the head.

So I guess in response, she enacted her rendition of her interpretation of shit the woman who gave birth to me did to me, as confided to her by me. It was laughable, but at the same time, I don't have any friends whose place I can run over to when I need to be brought back to reality. It really triggered me into the state I would get in when the woman who gave birth to me would gaslight me.

This afternoon, I took back the TV purchased out of the joint account. I should have just gone all in for the PC too. I don't believe that my ex has my money, mostly because she just got her tax refunds and they too are enough to pay rent. She only needs to pay June rent and utilities one time. She's on a week-long sex-staycation with her new toy; how the fuck is she buying all this clothing and food and drinks??

According to the police, I have no recourse. According to everything I could find online, I have no recourse.

Should've gotten married when the psycho asked, eh? Then it really would have been stealing two thousand dollars.

I just........ can't believe divorce is when it become stealing. What the fuck. I shouldn't have to--I wouldn't even know how to--itemize every last dollar going into the bank account. "This is for rent" "this is for utilities". Like, where the fuck does that info even go??

So my ex is the only one who should be allowed to put themself first??

It took three years for them to admit they don't believe in 50/50 relationships--whatever the fuck that even means. It took them three years to admit that they think they're above housework--three years of wanting to believe "I'm trying, uwu, I'm trying", and distancing myself a little further each time I didn't see them trying. It took them three years to admit that they did not give a shit what I wrote in my dating bio, and they did not give a shit about my limits and boundaries.

It took me three years to close myself off bit by bit with every racist utterance they felt it was okay to make around me.

It took me three years to realize that the pedophilia was not a fucking bit, for them to think showing me their materials was fucking funny.

I don't understand........ They just gave me card after card to hold and play, and then they taught me how to play against them. Like, what, you think I remained naive?? After everything you've put me through???

I don't hate my ex because they're trans. That's the dumbest, weakest shit I've ever heard, even before trying to gaslight me. I hate them because they are contemptible. They are so egotistical. They may be smarter than me, but they made a mistake underestimating my intelligence and adaptability. One of my biggest flaws, no humblebrag intended, is that I am so adaptable. It has stopped being a good thing, because it means that in the short-term, day over day, I will forgive, forget and move past the damage you inflict on me. But in the long run, it adds up. I don't actually forget.

They have done a lot of things to drive me away, which makes it incredibly hard to believe that they ever loved me. The real fucking coup de gras was stealing my money. Now I know, without question, this person never loved me. Do they know what love is? I don't know how that's possible when you don't believe in 50/50 relationships. When you don't believe in compromise, in reaching a greater average with your partner.

11 reasons why cap 4 should reintroduce Bucky Barnes as the love interest, an essay

to start this off, i am not writing this essay from a shipping place nor do i believe that this would have any influence at all over the upcoming movie. i expect nothing. this is simply something that i would personally like to see. (of course no hate to anybody who thinks differently)

here are 11 reasons why i think making Bucky into Sam Wilson's love interest in Cap 4 would be a good move for Disney.

1. on the Chinese film market - and why it's an irrelevant argument against the inclusion of homosexual themes in Cap 4

the Chinese film market is something that has been blamed for a lack of diversity in Hollywood films a lot lately. many people claim that this market with a lot of buying power has been responsible for the lack of gay and black representation in particular within Hollywood films.

and we have certainly seen Hollywood treating it as such, going so far as to cut gay scenes from movies for their Chinese releases, and vastly minimising John Boyega's (a black actor's) presence in the Chinese poster of Star Wars The Force Awakens.

so we know at the very least that Disney believes this through their own actions and efforts to self-censor for the different markets.

but Captain America 4 is a black-led movie, don't you forget. and Disney can't minimise Sam Wilson/Anthony Mackie in the movie or the poster because it's his movie and his poster. and no amount of creativity in the editing room can change that (thank God!).

so if by their own argument the film is already going to be either banned, panned or slammed in China... then what do they have to fear from making it a gay movie too?

2. oh, the queerbaiting

queerbaiting is an unusual cultural idea. and sometimes i find myself thinking that the term is far too easily used, but then all of a sudden i will stumble upon a movie or show that is so quintessentially cruel and overt in it's... well... queerbaiting that i will start to wonder what the hell kind of a bizarre relationship all these straight people seem to have with their friends. take Troy and Abed from Community or John and Sherlock from Sherlock as the perfect examples of this. (in which my reaction to the show's creators saying the show wasn't gay was to ask so then why did you make it so gay?!)

i felt that Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in tfatws were getting quite close to this level of queerbaiting.

there was the field scene, the couple's counselling scene, the boat scene, the couple's counselling scene, Bucky going with Sam to face Karli when she told Sam to come alone, the couple's counselling scene, ALL the staring scenes, Sam checking out Bucky's ass here as they said goodbye, the "i would move in with him but" hidden scene, "Uncle Bucky" showing up at the cookout scene, the romantic walking off together into the sunset together ending scene, and the couple's counselling scene. did i forget anything? but i mean seriously, the couple's counselling scene!!! that thing they did with their legs and their crotches while staring deep into each other's eyes, would any straight guy willingly do that? do straight guys crotch-snuggle now?

(yeah i stole this image from a buzzfeed article on the fan reactions to the couple's therapy scene. but given that they stole 80% of the content of that article from fandom tumblr, i think it's pretty even-steven.)

there's also the fact that people started talking about bisexual Bucky Barnes a lot after the tiger pictures line, and the lead writer Malcom Spellman responded to the talk of Bucky's bisexuality with "just keep watching". well we watched, Malcolm. but it's beginning to feel like you were just jerking us around.

3. the writing

seriously though, what else is Bucky Barnes doing right now in the MCU? his only remaining connection to anything going on right now is through Sam. there is literally nothing else established that's left for him to do that doesn't involve Sam. he moved to Louisiana to be closer to Sam (canonically), he hangs out with Sam's family (canonically), and Steve is presumably gone and is definitely not coming back for more adventures.

he has no villains or loose ends left. he has no other superheroes that he appears to be in contact with. he has no girlfriend or potential love interest, or even other friends or family. he is living in a tent that he has secretly set up in Sam's backyard and is mysteriously appearing from the bushes when it's time for dinner like a stray cat.

in my opinion there is no other meaningful and pre-established progression for Bucky's character that wouldn't just feel cheap.

plus, i don't think the general audience would be all that surprised if they kissed. i think a LOT of people picked up on all that tension. i think a lot of straight people picked up on all that tension too.

4. the chemistry between the actors & the chemistry between the characters

the original pitch for tfatws was essentially just this, it was the chemistry between Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie and their respective MCU characters of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson.

now obviously Anthony and Sebastian are simply friends, and i wouldn't mean to imply anything more. but they are also not their characters.

Sam and Bucky's scenes together before tfatws were both limited and short, and yet audiences still fell in love with the dynamic between the two characters.

in interviews, these two actors are constantly slipping into character and flirting with each other and frankly it's adorable. plus it's really entertaining. i'd love to see that dynamic, unfiltered, in a movie.

because believe it or not the flirting is actually even more open in their interviews than it was in tfatws. and i'm leaving some links as proof.

i'm just saying, why not let their chemistry shine? these two are so talented and so entertaining, especially when you put them in a room together. and can you imagine how absolutely hilarious and brilliant it would be to watch them navigate being a couple?

(and for those who bring up the "friends would be uncomfortable pretending to be dating" argument, i'm not here asking for a sex scene or anything. i don't think anyone would expect them to show any more intimacy (physical or emotional) while playing a couple than what they've already shown together in say... tfatws or in their own interviews. not that i actually expect anything regardless.)

5. if they were a man and a woman they would've gotten together in tfatws

i have no more to add here. just that... yeah, they would've.

6. and i'm not talking about the comics here, i'm talking about the MCU.

i understand fully that none of what i'm saying here falls in line with these characters from the comics. but the mcu itself doesn't fall much in line with the comics either, and these two characters especially are very different from their comics counterparts.

i'm not asking for these two to get together in the comics. tbh i don't think that it would work.

but the mcu Sam and Bucky are different and closer than their comics counterparts. they've got different histories, different backstories, and a very different dynamic. please rest assured that i am only talking about them in the mcu.

7. Bucky Barnes is believably bisexual. and Sam Wilson has never been proven to be straight in the mcu, nor has he had a love interest.

(now please continue to keep in mind that these points only stand for the mcu versions of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson, and not at all for their comics counterparts.)

Sam Wilson has never had a love interest, which is crazy because have you seen that man! he has had two blink and you'll miss it moments of verbal expression of attraction to women, both in TWS. and that's the extent of it, through his entire history in the mcu.

Bucky Barnes has had a number of surface-level female love interests, but none of them even came close to the level of connection and chemistry that Bucky shares with Sam.

and i'm sorry SarahBucky fans, but i just don't think there's very much to their relationship either. i love Sarah, i really do. but it's Sam who shares all the meaningful moments and history and chemistry with Bucky. and i don't see what making her into a love interest would do for Sarah's character either, what would that add to her story?

and also there is the whole tiger pictures thing... again. which does strongly suggest that Bucky is bisexual whether this was intentional on behalf of the writers or not.

8. it's representation... AND it feels natural

marvel hasn't had a lot of queer representation that's been noticeably present in the MCU at the time of writing this.

there have been a lot of failures so far, from the bisexual erasure of Valkyrie in Thor Ragnarok to the wlw erasure in Black Panther.

there was queerbaiting almost identical to the bisexual Bucky baiting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. when asked if he had considered featuring a gay hero in gotg2, director James Gunn stated that "We might have already done that. I say, watch the movie." after the movie's release audiences were understandably confused about the lack of queer representation. To which the director followed up his comments with, "But we don't really know who's gay and who's not. It could be any of them."

there is also Loki, considered by most fans after the airing of his six episode series on Disney+ to be both a poor attempt at both genderfluid representation and bisexual representation. with both attempts being summed up fairly well by the term "blink-and-you'll-miss-it". (also it's just terribly written and Loki doesn't wear any interesting clothes! fanficcers are a Goddamn blessing in this hard time!)

and let us not forget that Andrew Garfield was apparently FIRED for pushing for a bisexual spiderman. a bisexual spiderman within an interracial mlm relationship no less.

so for all these failures, marvel, why not allow us queer fans this? two brilliant and heroic men in a loving interracial relationship. two heroes that we can look up to.

now, one of the biggest detractions from the argument for representation is the idea of "forced diversity". and some poorly written characters certainly do end up feeling forced into the narrative. take Iceman in the comics for example, with Jean Grey just straight up suddenly telling him he's gay. like, marvel, sweetie, that's not how this works! and i don't know a lot of queer people who thought much of that "representation".

but the crux of the "forced diversity" argument is almost always that it feels unnatural within the story, right? and i don't think that anyone could say that about MCU Sam and Bucky ending up together, given these characters' existing chemistry and their history. they've both played characters in gay relationships before so we know that it's not outside of either actor's wheelhouse. and y'all know that Anthony and Seb can act, people. if it's in the script i believe that they'll make it seem like the most natural thing on earth.

9. it'd be a nice change

there's been an ongoing meme lately about "Disney's first gay character", the joke being that they continually announce gay characters without really ever including gay characters in their films.

this is to the point where Disney has formed a reputation amongst queer audiences of being homophobic.

if Sam and Bucky were to become a couple, then Disney could have its first actual gay character within a gay relationship. AND have him be in the lead of his own movie, no less.

it's also worth keeping in mind that there's likely an overlap between the people who were outraged by a Sam Wilson Captain America, and the people who'd be outraged by a gay Captain America. and if they were already not seeing the film, then i don't think much is gonna change that.

queer audiences would definitely love it, and the media attention would be guaranteed to be huge. i mean, simply look at the amount of media attention mere rumours of a character's queerness gets you and multiply that by a canon confirmation of said rumours.

but i'm pretty sure that Disney already knows this.

10. and yet, in truth, it's not about the representation

in truth i've never felt that i had any trouble relating to characters of any sexual orientation, race, gender, sex, body type, etc. (although that is not to throw any shade at all on people who do wish to see themselves represented) but for me, i think it's more about the story than the packaging.

and yet, a love story is still just a story. straight or queer, monoethnic or interracial. when two characters have chemistry and history and have sacrificed for each other time and time again, and they also can't keep their hands or their eyes off each other, then i'm pretty sure that that's a love story.

straight or queer, monoethnic or interracial, it shouldn't be about these simple labels. it should be about how well written the relationship is. it should be about chemistry, and history, and sacrifice.

because i'm fucking sick of all the hollow, forced romances in media no matter the genders of the participants. i'm sick of lazily written, shallow relationships where any two people sharing the same space for any extended period of time will simply fall in love. it's boring, it's repetitive, and as a writer myself it drives me up the wall!

romance stories suck! and everyone knows that romance stories suck. between twilight, and most of the entire YA genre, and love triangles (so boring), and romance used as poorly-written throwaway subplots in Hollywood movies, the world is in agreement that the romance in western media is simply dreadful. and yet we still want love stories. it's an entire genre that sits at the heart of the human experience (<3), and yet one which so few of today's best known writers seem truly able to capture.

i don't think that i'm the only one who feels this way, either. i suspect it's actually a large part of why fandom is so romance-centred in the first place, that we're all just starving for a good love story.

(btw i think fandom has a reputation for being something that as a whole that it is not. it has this reputation for straight up demanding things and harassing people until they get their way. while unfortunately there are a few people who do this, they're fucking annoying and i swear that they're far from the majority.

in my experience fandom is mostly about writing a five thousand word story at three am while drunk off your ass because it might make someone whom you've never met smile, editing it in the cold light of day, and then posting it. expecting nothing. sometimes getting nothing. and sometimes getting someone send you kudos or a comment so heartbreakingly wonderful that it makes you smile in return.)

11. so once again, it is all about the writing.

i want to see Sam and Bucky get together in the mcu, not because they would be a gay couple but because i genuinely believe that their story has potential to be an amazing love story.

and i know the mcu isn't about the romance. it's why in my personal opinion we haven't gotten a lot of good canon romances besides Peter Quill and Gamora. and i don't think that the mcu should be all about the romance either. i fucking love the action and the fighting scenes. i love the comedy. Captain America: The Winter Soldier had no romance and it was a fucking treasure, it was an amazing spy-action-thriller and it made my little gay heart dance. Thor Ragnarok had no romance, and it was an utterly brilliant comedic spectacle action film. not every movie needs romance.

but mcu Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes were doing couple's therapy and fixing a boat and walking off into the sunset together in tfatws. they were inseparable on the battlefield. they've got a dynamic. it's beautiful, it's romantic, and it's gold.

a budding relationship between them in the next movie would be a good way to explore both characters more without the narrative feeling too stilted and separate. at the end of tfatws, both Sam and Bucky fans found that their respective fave felt somewhat underutilised and that their characters were underexplored.

now, that problem would be even more difficult to remedy in a movie, because the plotline of a movie needs to be really tight to work (giggity). and we know that the central conflict of the movie is gonna be action-based (which is good), but we still need each character's personal journey and growth to tie into the main conflict. (which is another issue that some fans found with tfatws, that these characters didn't really feel connected to the action-based plot on a more personal level.)

if Sam and Bucky are already in a relationship, however, this whole dynamic changes. first, their relationship has already been set up for nicely since TWS and through tfatws and they would officially be the best-fleshed-out couple in the mcu. but most importantly, a relationship gives them a perfect vehicle to explore both of their pasts comparatively and connect them personally to the action-based plot.

do you want to establish that Sam is a little too trusting and naïve? then establish this through his relationship with Bucky, and through showing his placing his trust in Bucky. (rather than through having him sympathise with a villain who threatened to murder his sister and his nephews).

perhaps you want to show Bucky recovering from his trauma? show us how comfortable he is with Sam. they get along, they're enjoying each other's presence, we see more of Sam's life and of his family, and then let Bucky tell Sam something that's raw and dark and honest about his life as The Winter Soldier. something about a memory, one that he only just recalled. he's opening up. and maybe what he tells Sam is even something that sets up the future action-based conflict, to ground that in something real.

you want to explore that Sam has trauma too? do this through Bucky. he tells Bucky a story about his time in the military. in the form of a flashback, he shares his own story of loss to evoke before the audience the shared theme of feeling at fault even when you're simply a helpless bystander to an act of pure destruction.

then, action sequence! and it's directly connected to Bucky's time as the Winter Soldier. explore the grief of someone whose life the Winter Soldier tore apart manifesting into a villain perpetuating the cycle of pain. establish your villain.

Later, Sam is dragged into battle against this villain for protecting Bucky. But Bucky doesn't want Sam to protect him. He feels guilt for what he can't control and he doesn't want Sam getting hurt because of him. Bucky reminds Sam that he has a family, one who needs him and who loves him. He tells him to go home.

Sam reminds Bucky that he's a part of that family. And that sure Sam's a hero and his job is to protect anyone and everyone, but that he's doing it because he wants to. It's not simply to prove that he can, or to prove that he's not a bystander (this connects to Sam's trauma here), but that he's doing it to help people.

and this gets Bucky thinking about who he is and what he's doing here. is he a hero who stands by Sam's side? or is he an ordinary man who stands aside? or perhaps, does he stand alone? what does he stand for? Maybe Sam knows. But does Bucky?

Sam and Bucky fight off the villain again, and for the first time Bucky meets this adversary face to face. And Bucky recognises this villain, and has a flashback to the genuine pain that he inflicted upon them in the form of the Winter Soldier. Bucky freezes mid-fight, he almost dies, and Sam has to save him.

Sam chews Bucky out for almost getting killed because he was afraid for him. but Bucky takes this the wrong way and goes off to fight the villain alone, or perhaps to die alone, he's not quite sure.

He puts up a half-hearted fight. He apologises for what the Winter Soldier has done, and he waits for the killing blow, when Sam swoops down and he saves him. He asks Sam why he saved him and Sam calls him a moron. And then, Sam asks him what sacrificing himself would solve. He tells him that you can't choose your past but you can choose your future (connecting to his own experience of loss and guilt and grief). And that no matter what Bucky Barnes still has a future, whether that's as the Winter Soldier or the White Wolf or just some dork with a day job. And that he has a future as a part of Sam's family too.

Sam fights the villain, and it's toe to toe. He delivers a few good blows, but receives a fair few himself. And then the villain tears off his wings, first one and then the other, in a manner reminiscent of what the Winter Soldier did to him in TWS. Through Bucky's eyes there's a flashback to highlight the parallels. Sam gets back on his feet and he fights his best fight, but is now losing.

And then the heavily injured Bucky steps up and fights by Sam's side, and only together do they take down the villain.

"So... I inspired you, huh?" Sam teases with a smile, utterly exhausted. "With my heroism and-"

"You inspired me." Bucky said, equally exhausted. "Let's leave it at that."

Together, Sam and Bucky go back to the safety and warmth of their family. Sam fixes his wings. Sam goes back to being Captain America. And Bucky... he's around, but it's unclear what he's doing.

That is, until the very end. When Sam is in a fight, and suddenly Bucky shows up and helps him out.

"What are you doing here?" Sam asks.

"I've made up my mind." Bucky says. "I'm the Winter Soldier. But now I'll save lives, Sam. Now, like you, I'll be a hero."

Sam smirks. "So does this make you my sidekick, then?"

Bucky smiles. "C'mon, at least make me a partner." He says.

"How about co-workers." Sam says (in flashback, he remembers back to the death of his last on-the-job partner).

"How about friends." Bucky says, with a wry look.

"Bucky... I don't want to see you put your dumbass self in danger." Sam says.

"Oh, and it's ok for you to go running off into danger on your own all the time?" Bucky asks.

"Yes." Sam says stubbornly. "Absolutely it is."

"Why?"

"Because I'm not a dumbass?!"

"Sam, if you think I'm not gonna be watching your back for the rest of time... then you're the biggest dumbass I know. And I don't care if you need me or not, I will be there for you."

"Because Sam, you're more than Captain America. You're more than a good soldier. You're a good man. And I think sometimes, the world forgets what the difference is."

...or something like that.

(i only spent like 15 minutes on that. you know if i were actually writing this movie i would come up with something much better. and if anyone from marvel is seeing this, yes i can come work for you. i will make the time, let's do this thing right!)

finale

at the end of the day, whether or not the mcu chooses to make Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes a couple, it's their decision. and they don't owe me anything.
