My DA Canon Worldstate family trees #1- The Cousland /Theirin family tree

I thought I’d share my (slightly headcanoned) family tree for my canon Worldstate, The Shattered Crown.

I plan on doing this again for my canon Hawke and inky at a later date because it was so fun making this. Anyway here’s the family tree and some explanations for some of the information:

Explanations:

In my head Bryce Cousland was younger than Eleanor by a year.

Oren can’t be more that 5 years old at the start of the game hence my headcanoned birth year of 9:25.

I headcanon Fergus to be 10 years older than my Cousland.

Maric dying in 9:38 Dragon is from the Silent Grove comic series set in biowares own canon, I treat these extended universe stuff as canon to my Worldstate but with some differences (similar to how BioWare treat canon in the games). But obviously he goes missing in 9:25 and is assumed dead, it’s actually Alistair who finds him along with Isabella and Varric (it’s a great comic series).

I couldn’t fit Eamon, Isolde, Connor and Tegan on there, but given they’re not Alistair’s biological family it doesn’t matter so much on the tree as I’m mostly looking at the direct line.

Ardal Cousland isn’t stated to be Bryce’s grandfather but going from his death defending King Vanedrin Theirin in the Battle of Lothering, we can presume he’s William Cousland’s father and therefore Bryce’s grandfather.

I forgot to add the Mac Eanraig family on there, I do have a head canon that Eleanor has at least one niece from her fathers side I mean she’s got three siblings but the Cousland children only met that side of the family once or twice and never met them on the Storm Coast due to how dangerous it can be.

Why Anora doesn’t have a updated image from DA:I unlike Alistair and Morrigan- she didn’t appear in DA:I unless you make her queen. Hence the origin image. She’s not queen in my canon because my Cousland Amelia basically was like ‘look no hard feelings and it’s not your fault but you can’t be trusted on the throne after all that’s happened with your father and you willingly trapping me in a dungeon to be killed even if you apologised for it’ and put Alistair and herself on there instead. I do have a headcanon on what happened to Anora in my Worldstate that I’ll get into at a later date (it’s not bad, because I do like Anora because she a) didn’t know the whole truth for most of the game and b) she was just doing what she needed to survive as a strong minded woman and new widow in court but I find her a bit frustrating).

Updated image note: I found out how old Anora is so I updated the image. According to Eamon’s letter to Cailan found in the royal chest in the Return to Ostagar DLC, Anora is approaching her 30th year, making her 29 when this letter was sent presumably not long before Ostagar, so she has to be at least 29 at the start of the game and 30 by the time the Landsmeet happens. Anyway this age gap actually helps explain why Anora never met my Cousland, despite attending some of Eleanor’s parties, and despite her father presumably knowing Bryce as the only other Teyrn in Ferelden, as she is 11 years older than her so Amelia wasn’t old enough to attend when Anora was attending her mothers events and Loghain canonically kept Anora at home most of the time when she was growing up anyway.

Silly little diagram for today :3

My COC DM (technically the one who "owns" Vail but we all know I kidnapped him) couldn't tell who the parents of my 3 OC children were when I was asking if they could be canon. I was like BUDDY UHM IDK HOW TO TELL YOU so I drew this diagram to explain XD

Like sir.... why do you think.... Ceres (M) is named.... the way he is named. There are so many hints in the lore and his design (will be shown over the next 2 weeks I guess XD).

I thought it was funny so I'm sharing my 2 min diagram I spent minimal effort on.

Here is A’kan’s family tree! I made a video on TikTok and YouTube introducing them all (linked below). I haven’t fleshed out all the characters yet but have a basic idea of A’kan’s family and friends. 

For Back Story- A'kan lives in the mountain ranges of Pandora near an Ikran nesting cave. Like the Kekunan Clan, Ikran taming and flying is their way of life. I'll get more into the lore and lay of the land but for now, here's the main cast of my OC story.

My DA Canon Worldstate family trees #3- The Trevelyan family tree (Ostwick branch)

Part 3 of my Dragon Age protagonists family tree series, this time it’s the last of the canon protagonists families (until Dreadwolf arrives), the Inquisitor herself, Anya Trevelyan.

This isn’t the last of the family trees, oh no, I’ve got a few non canon protagonists to do, especially since in my Worldstate they all still exist.

Anyway I really enjoyed doing the Trevelyan family tree because whilst I miss the origins set up in DAO, DAI offers the most freedom out of the three games in terms of imagining your protagonist’s family. More information is under the cut.

Explanations:

I actually made most of my Inquisitor’s family this time in the game because I was making my second l non canon Trevelyan play through, Bertrand Trevelyan, Anya’s oldest brother, and thought sod it, I’ll make the rest of The Trevelyan’s before I make him.

Anya is the youngest of 7. There are 15 years between Bertrand and Anya.

Percival (Percy) and Bertrand Trevelyan are two of my non canon Inquisitors BUT I headcanon those two brothers actively join the Inquisition in my canon play through at various points in the game, showing support for their little sister in her role as Inquisitor.

Frederick Trevelyan was married before he married Sophia, but his wife died of a sickness two years into the marriage.

The Trevelyan siblings are half Orlesian, but they’ve never been to Orlais because their mother refuses to take them as she doesn’t get on with her mother and sister, in fact she pretty much denounces her Orlesian heritage.

The Du Beaufort family added the Du to Beaufort to make their surname sound even more Orlesian.

Sophia Trevelyan actually changed her name from Sophie to Sophia when she ran away from Orlais and married Bann Frederick Trevelyan.

Geneviéve Du Beaufort, the Trevelyan’s cousin, actually looks eerily similar to my non-canon Lavellan Inquisitor, Thalia. There is a reason for this, a family secret that her mother and grandmother are determined to keep from everyone. Geneviéve is elf blooded. Her father is Thalia’s father, Thalia is Geneviéve’s half sister.

Geneviéve actually also jumps ship from Orlais to Ferelden and Skyhold some time in the years between Corypheus’ defeat and the Exalted Council because she has been biding her time for years to escape her entitled her mother and grandmother. She goes by Trevelyan after that, (after asking permission from her aunt’s family of course)

I head canon that the romances in the non canon playthroughs still happen in my Worldstate, mainly because Dorian and Iron Bull didn’t get together in my canon play through so I head canon that Percy and Dorian met on the journey to Skyhold, and grew close, marrying in secret sometime before the Exalted Council and because Bertrand will be romancing Cassandra when I get round to it, Bertrand met Cassandra when he joined after Orlais.

Anya and Cullen of course, being my canon romance, get married in the exalted council.

I do have a fic in the planning about whether or not they manage to get away with the whole spontaneous marriage thing with Anya’s family but it may be a while before I write it.

Redraw of the family tree I posted and the backstory of them

Katherine Fled Cainhurst after her Brother Luther was knighted, the culmination of a bitter rivalry lasting their entire childhood it inadvertently lead to her discovering the truth of the castle and why they were so fiercely protective of the bloodline, she then made her way to a town meeting Emit a local blacksmith and falling in love eventually marrying him, she felt she was finally free of the ridged tradition she had lived under for so long.

Katherine became a seamstress enjoying working alongside her husband but when she was pregnant with Annette her brother found and cornered her with orders to either bring her back to Cainhurst or kill her if she refused. upon finding she had built a life for herself and was going to have a child he couldn't go through with it so he decided to take a lock of her hair back after an emotional farewell and on his return to the castle told them he had had to kill her.

Emit and Katherine raised Annette well never telling her of her heritage wanting to protect her, when she was old enough she started helping out with the family business she spent most her days sewing with her mother and enjoying the time they spent together, soon her father introduced her to regular customer Fredric who was studying to be a doctor and needed his suits tailored so he would look the part, she and Fredric eventually married having two daughters Elenore and Effie who could not be more different to each other.

as time went on Fredrics health worsened he had always been feeble it was one of the reasons he had studied medicine, eventually he became bedbound beginning a spiral of obsession trying to use his knowledge to cure himself, all his research lead him to a so called "miracle cure" a treatment by the name of blood ministration, he travelled to the city of Yhanarm signing his name away only thinking of being cured, it was successful he was overjoyed at being able to return to his former self again and he began to make up for the time he had lost with his family, he was not bothered by the duties that were now required of him but due to those and needing to be closer to the City for his treatment he brought his family to live with him there.

Annette began to notice changes in Fredric after he had become ill he had never raised his voice at her and the children or thrown things but now it had become a common occurrence, one fateful day after returning home from the market she found him hunched over rambling to himself as she approached she saw his face it was not that of her husband it was twisted into that of a beast, as she turned to run he caught her in an instant turning the room red, Effie and Elenore had hidden themselves as their father had rambled and demanded to see them tearing the house apart, not wanting to be near him in his state they hadn't heard their mother return until they heard her screams, Elenore peered out wanting to protect her younger sister upon seeing the carnage she tried to creep past her father as he began his feast to try to alert anyone she could but she was not quick enough the last thing she did was scream for her sister to run.

Effie after losing everything had decided to become a Hunter she was determined to prevent the scourge from doing the damage she had witnessed first hand.

I have...lore thoughts...

Something I think about what Audreys parents would have been like and if they would have had any siblings, especially cause her mother is alive and would know those things.

But then I also wonder about if their parents had any siblings, and if those siblings went on to have children, so Audrey would have second cousins or something... It just seemed to weird that her entire bloodline would funnel down into her single person.

Plus considering some of the story plots with her, I've always hinted that Audreys father/fathers side were adept mages and other lore bits. And I played with the idea of because of that its not unlikely there would be a chance that their would be Padjal blood in her line. So I gave her a great grandaunt that is a Padjal, as well as a Second Cousins Padjal. both of which her father never knew about because "reasons".
