I'm a relatively new writer here! (I also repost absolute ramdom things *cough* peter capaldi *cough*, so my blog is a bit cluttered lol) I would love anyone to request fics or at least help me with the ropes! I have never published any writing before so comments are appreciated!
I write for the following characters so far (character list below the cut), however I am not opposed to maybe adding a few more!
Masterlist here!
Doctor who:
9th doctor
10th doctor
11th doctor
12th doctor.
(No doctor who spoilers please, currently in beginning of 13’s run)
BBC Sherlock:
Sherlock
Not opposed to more just don’t really have any ideas
Harry Potter:
Sirius Black
Remus Lupin
Severus Snape
George Weasley
Fred Weasley
again open to more just no ideas
Marvel:
Loki
Stephen Strange
don’t know a lot about the mcu specifics but bear with me
Random:
Willy Wonka (2023 only! I can’t write about the others just because of personal icks)
John Wick
Theo Dimas (maybe theomabel pairing) - Only Murders in the Building
Ian Malcolm (New obsession, please request!!!) Jurassic Park/World
OC's!!! (New!) - each name will have a link to their character description
Elise Shepard
Please Please Please help me out here! Can’t wait to see the amazing things created here. I will write 18+ content and many warnings will be provided. I mostly write one-shots, drabbles, quite a few reader inserts (Y/n). Not a fan of multi-chapter fics but may write if persuaded. Thank you!

Replying to this
Sorry I'm just now getting to this, but tysm for asking about brain rot <3
Jade Shepard:
💛: Jade is empathetic and compassionate to an extent. Growing up on the streets of New York and running with various gangs taught her from a young age it is best to harden her heart. Her experience in the Alliance and the Reaper War only enforced this. Because of this, a lot of people think she is callous and cold but she isn't; she just doesn't show it. Those who grow close to her are always surprised when she begins to break down her barriers and doesn't put on the front she's forced to as Commander Shepard.
Ember Hawke:
⚰️: Ember will always regret her involvement with Anders and how it played into the bombing of the Chantry. She feels guilty for not realizing what Anders was planning and inadvertently helping him by agreeing to help without knowing the full details. As a mage, she wants to do everything she can to help other mages, but not to those extremes. She doesn't regret their relationship, only the fallout from it and the way it ended. On her deathbed, Ember would most likely think about her son, Malcolm, and Fenris. They are the two most important people in her life and she would worry about what would happen to them without her there.
Valerie Ramirez:
🤝: Valerie's experiences with intimacy in all aspects are difficult. She wants intimacy and craves it, but because she's been hurt in the past and lost those she cares about she doesn't allow herself to experience it with others. She avoids physical, emotional, and sexual intimacy as much as she can. If she's intimate with someone in any way, she has to trust them with all of her heart. Jackie and Misty began to help her break down those barriers, and eventually, Judy, Panam, and Kerry do too. But it isn't until post-game when she and Johnny settle into a relationship that she truly allows herself to open up and experience intimacy in all capacities.

Fictober 20: Did I ask?
Prompt 20 Did I ask? Fandom: Mass Effect Title:  That’s Politics Chief Pairing: Malcolm Shepard/ Ashley Williams Rating: T
“Did I ask?” Udina was staring at the three of them with a fierce case of politician, not that it made sense to call it that but all Malcolm could see was this small man who liked to have headaches. Right now, of course, they were part of it.
“No but we are here anyhow.” Malcolm replied, “ Look, Saren is a threat to everything and everyone." “You!” Udina turned sharply, his face turning another shade of red as he pointed his finger at Shapard "What were you thinking?" "What?" Usually, Malcolm had an answer for everyone, being raised on ships with navy parents he had some sense of when to push authority, and he enjoyed doing it. Udina was something different, though given the theme of the day he had started looking for ways to annoy the guy.. "You risked your entry into the spectres…" Udina inhaled for a tirade " A dead spectre, a broken beacon and some kind of war…" "That was Saren." Anderson stepped in not for the first time on Shepard’s behalf. "Fine, Anderson come with me. You.." he obviously couldn’t force himself to say the man’s name "and the rest can meet us at  the citadel tower" "I hate politicians."  Ashley, the newest member of the team for the Normandy was casually leaning on the railing. Malcolm could only agree and hope they could get in edgeways with the council, although it did not look promising. "Let’s go." They headed to the tower directly, even ignoring the view. Malcolm shrugged off the feeling people were staring at them.
"Stall them. Give me more time." " Stall the council Garrus, don’t be ridiculous. Your investigation is over.," Malcolm processed that feeling of dread he had every time he saw a Turian. He didn't hate them but he didn’t trust them either. It always felt strange seeing the different species around. "Commander, my name is Garrus Vakarian"  Garrus was his type of person Malcolm thought, gutsy and determined, willing to talk to the weird humans. "Anything you learn that can help us?" "No, all his dealings  are top secret…" Garrus was irritated, Malcolm guessed by his tone, he couldn’t read Turians at all, and he was definitely not sure it mattered much. "Commander, I think the council is waiting for us," Alenko said quietly, reminding them why they were there, as he always did. | "Good luck Commander, maybe the council will listen to you." Garrus said as they left him.
They faced the council and Saren, though how the rogue spectre had an invite was anyone’s guess. It seemed he was on the inside with the Council and nothing short of a miracle would break that. Malcolm felt angry at the situation and the awareness he could fo very little about it. When Captain Anderson presented the vision from the beacon, the response was as he had feared - that a non-quantifiable vision was not going to help the situation.
Saren 1 … truth 0 he thought grimly as they walked away. If only the council had seen Eden Prime. Had seen the dead burned and witnessed that ship. Seen the Geth rip through Jenkins shields. Instead, he was in trouble because the beacon exploded. He shook his head amazed since he hardly caused that; they also seemed to be blaming him for the death of Nihlus as if he had anything to do with that either. “Why can’t they see the truth?” Ashley asked angrily. Malcolm knew she was running through the list of her squad’s names. He had been there on Torfan, and he knew he recalled every one of the lost. What most think he did, what had to be done, was finish the job they started with.
They took the elevator down to the presidium with a plan to hunt for Garrus and find out what he knew. Malcolm turned to Ashley as they headed towards the Wards. “How are you doing?” “It is unfair, how they treated you…” Ashley fumed “How they decided things in advance without listening.” “I guess that is the politics of it Chief, It is not what I would have wanted.” “Sir, is it too much to ask that we get listened to on equal footing?” “That.” Malcolm paused, how to answer when he had no answer “I don’t know.” “That’s politics Chief,” Kaidan responded ever calm in the face of a challenge, something Malcolm was grateful for on many fronts - he had not even winced at Jenkins’s death but had set about being a good soldier. “However, Ashley, how are you doing? I know Eden Prime was a mess.” Malcolm shook his head “Don’t make me send you to Chakwas for a psych evaluation.” “Sir, I am okay, I... it’s not easy having my whole unit die, but I understand it wasn’t my fault, and that those Geth and Saren are to blame.”She looked down “It was almost too much when the beacon exploded and knocked you out. We didn’t know if you would be okay.” “I’m fine, more or less.” Malcolm still recalled the vision absolutely clearly. “Just pissed that Saren is getting away from this.” “Well, let’s stop him.” Kaidan added to the conversation “Let’s make sure we have evidence.” “Alright. Time to find Garrus and that guy Harken is our first port of contact.”

1, 4, 5, 11, 17, 20, 24, 27, 35, 40, 43!!!
24 and 43 already answered :3
1. Your first OC ever? OK THIS QUESTION IS SO FUNNY CAUSE LIKE. i dont use this character anymore but. i literally stole my first oc. when i was very young (like 9 years old this was like over a decade ago) i was obsessed w this one youtube animator called superturtlethefirst who had an oc that was a gray cat named sasha, and they made an amv w that character to bring me to life by evanescence where she got possesed by some demon and Did A Murder. and i stole that oc sdkgjdslkgjsdgjkkdsjglkdsglkdsgldsghds (also superturtlethefirst’s channel is still up but be careful if u go there some of the videos have the r slur in the title....its that old)
4. A character you rarely talk about? ALL OF MY MINECRAFT OC’S...i made a real world au for them that i LOVE but i NEVER TALK ABT IT EVER....ALSO the villains in awn and zee’s story cause whenever i do anything with awn and zee i just get wrapped up in making them cute and gay together and i ignore their actual story djskgds. also the ghost space adventure crew i havent done anything w them pensive
5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be? my gut says sayre but only because she technically was once already well known-ish back when she was a ddlc au ask blog........ahhh the good old days. but if not her.... maybe epoch because he has Big Tumblr Sexy Man potential and i WILL bank on that. i am not above being that person who makes a tumblr sexy man in order to make my stuff popular.
11. Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a “sunshine”? DOES WISH COUNT....its like literal starshine and the sun is a star. and personality wise it fits it is VERY bombastic and friendly. also awn and zee they are both so sweet and loving and kind.
17. Any OC OTPs? SO MANY. -inhales- Nat and Yvonne, Awn and Zee, Lightshow and Dark Opal, Inkfree and Tentacular (hehe >:3), Glitter Bomb and Carnelian (HEHE >:3c), Wanderer and Pedant, Glaze and Contessa, Peachy and Finn, AAAAND Curse and Wish. -exhales-  and those are just the ones im Really Into, i have so many other characters in relationships kjdsg
20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)? I HAVE A FEW OC’S WITH VOICE CLAIMS WHO SING SO HEHE...Molly’s voice claim is Monika DDLC so she probably sings in the same way that Monika sings Your Reality. The entire pirate crew, which molly is in, probably sings a LOT of sea shanties and drinking songs. Malcolm’s voice claim is Ben Folds and i came up with an au of an au with him after listening to Rockin The Suburbs, + he’s a shitty white boy garage band singer in that au. Thuccopith’s voice claim is fucking HEXXUS so. YAKNOW. HE WOULD SING TOXIC LOVE THATS JUST IN CHARACTER FOR HIM. also purple poets whole crew probably sing a lot because theyre all dramatic little fucks, including purp’s niece who is. a literal popstar kljgsdlgj
27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song? .....I DONT THINK SO...?  I CANT REMEMBER...i have lots of songs i associate w my oc’s and lots of playlists but i cant think of any that directly came from any songs. maybe bits of their stories yeah but other than that idk.
35. Any sibling characters? Yep!  Pedant + Glaze + Holly, Contessa + Peachy, and Shepard + Simon!....i just realized theyre all my mc oc’s kljdgslkdgjdsg
40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share! Sayres old askblog....It was a really fun time. Especially becuz thats how Sayre and Jenn first started interacting. Also the superverse in general makes me emo becuz it was just me and theo at first and then a bunch of ppl joined and now its so big and beautiful and im. wails.
THANK U FOR ASKING AAA :’3

all the J questions for whichever oc you want!
J, joy: :D i wanna do this for william to flesh him out a bit more
1. what makes them happy?
quiet is peaceful for william, he likes sitting in pleasant, companionable silences with others. a perfect day would start with an early morning and hot tea with the sun just about to rise, william escaping the tight confines of kirkwall to the mountains nearby and simply existing for awhile before he comes back and shares a meal with his friends at the hanged man!
2. who makes them happy?
out of all the companions varric is the one who william connects with most. he’s older than canon hawkes and appreciates varric’s stories and his history and the more mellow friendship they have. though william does fall in love with him he’d rather they be friends first because its easier
3. are there any songs that bring them joy?
yes! william sings a lot. he’s a shepard, and used to sing to the sheep to a) keep himself occupied when he didn’t want to read/whittle and b) keep the sheep calm. he knows a load of folk songs and enjoys them but maybe the ones he likes the most are the ones malcolm taught him
4. are they happy often?
no :( william was already pensive and prone to melancholy in lothering so after loosing his siblings, his mother, and his life’s purpose william falls into a pretty heavy depression
5. what brings them the most joy in the world?
hmm! i think his friends do. william enjoys spending time with the da2 crew and he loves his family (born and found) and his favorite things are just being around other people quietly.
abcs of your ocs ask!

Swtor toon list 3/9: Troopers! I actually like the trooper story, it was fun and I just end up playing a lot of commandos....
Mikael Hawke - CO of Havoc Squad. He’s big (tallest of my OCs at 6′7″) and he’s tough and dabbles as a medic when he can. He dotes on his wife and daughter and has been married to Nora since they were both 17.
Mary Shepard - I haven’t mentioned her in my fic yet, but I do consider her fic canon. She’s based off of my shep from my very first playthrough of mass effect that was in no way influenced by them sharing a VA. not at all. She romanced Aric.
Caleb Shan - Kara’s eldest son. His father is Skavak, and he absolutely hates him. He idolized Jace Malcolm as a child and spends much of his teen years training with Havoc before eventually convincing Mikael to allow him to join. He considers Theron his dad and does his utmost to protect his family.
Leanna Hawke - Nora and Mikael’s youngest daughter. She’s only recently a twinkle in the force in the fic, but eventually she takes after her father in her desire to be a soldier and lack of force sensitivity. And I’m using her as an excuse to have a toon to romance Jonas.  ;)

9, 15, 23!
9) In your xxx fic, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote?
is there a fic in particular or you mean in general? haha
15) If you write OC’s, how do you decide on their names?
it usually depends on the name. in case you don’t know this about me already, I spend a lot of time overthinking lore and backstory, but I am also incredibly picky and like to have cool-sounding names for the #Aesthetic, so ideally the names I pick do both. I also look up what names mean before deciding; it doesn’t have to have a significant meaning, though it’s great if it does, but that’s also to make sure I’m not picking anything too ironic. for lack of any others, I can talk about how I picked my bioware character names?
Lydia (Shepard): so I could go on and on about this one. the truth is that I don’t remember how or why I picked it at first, but I do remember all of the hoop-jumping I’ve done since to figure it out lol. the tl;dr is that Lydia Shepard isn’t her birth name, her real name is probably something like Lijuan Last-Name-Unknown. After getting separated as a kid, over time “Lijuan” was westernized/lost in English and turned into something resembling “Lee” or “Lyd,” which she extrapolated as a teenager and assumed her name was Lydia (though she mostly went by Lyd). “Shepard” she picked when she faked her IDs to join the Alliance because she was looking to disappear from London, so in looking up old space travelers, and “Shepard” sounded good and properly American (a name like Armstrong was a little too conspicuous).
Anita (Hawke): my Hawke was named Valeria for a long time, mostly because I always liked the name Valerie (my Malcolm is Rivaini, so I also wanted “Valerie” not to sound too English). but ultimately “Valeria” just sounded too…. dainty, I guess. way too formal. my Hawke isn’t a formal kind of person. “Anita” sounds like what both Malcolm and Leandra would choose a firstborn daughter: something that could be respected among higher class circles (Leandra), a name that could’ve come from Rivain, and also a name that’s got a bit of grit to it (imo) to match who she became. but either way I tend to run with the hc that my Hawke isn’t a huge fan of her first name anyway, and she goes by Hawke because it’s more androgynous when she starts making a name for herself in Kirkwall. but anyway that’s a good lesson in how i’m definitely not above changing my character names for no other reason than I feel like it.
Gemma (Cousland): I played DAO so long ago I don’t remember my precise thought process, but I remember given the human noble origin, I wanted something that sounded classy but also not unapproachable, and someone you would believe could be slightly naive. also, “gem” = jewel, jewelry, pushing the nobility theme.
Monica (Ryder): I gotta be honest, this one I picked far more recently, but I don’t remember how at all. I think I just liked how it sounded. I know I was just tired of the name Sara, since I know a million Sara’s, otherwise I would’ve gone with the default. (Scott I like just fine so I kept that.)
a lot of my other OCs are one-offs, and I either make them up by jumping off of Word of God worldbuilding (e.g. turians being based off of old Roman names), expanding on various forms of keysmashing, or sometimes I expand from or draw from names I know in real life. or I just use names I have always wanted an excuse to use.
23) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?
I make mixes for most of my fics or characters, so listening to music usually gets me in the mood, but sometimes if I’m having trouble getting words down, it’s distracting and I just get more swept up in the music than the writing and I need to turn it off. if I’m on a good streak, though, then I’m able to tune out.
I do need some sort of noise in the background when I write though, either music or tv or people talking if I’m in public. if the mix I’ve made isn’t working, I switch to an unrelated playlist, or shuffle, or something else I haven’t heard yet. silence feels too unnerving.

tell me about your ocs! what is their favorite time of day, their hobbies, and most embarrassing fuck-up
I apologize inadvance that I only have three to gush about right now: a Warden Ifinished Origins, Awakening, and Witch Hunt with, a Hawke stalled outin Act 3, and a Shepard I just started over the weekend due to poorimpulse control. Let’s do this!
What is theirfavorite time of day?
Solom Tabris has been and always will be a morning person, much to the dismay of his cousins and the delight of his father. It’san old habit from his training days with Adaia that didn’t die withher, and it’s always been something of a mixed blessing; on onehand he’s usually up before anyone else so hey! Fire’s all set, breakfast is made, everyone gets to relax and talk while he’s onthe road. On the other hand oh Maker, he makes everyone feel so lazy.Even Wynne.
Also Morrigan has many, manycomplaints about this habit because she wants morning cuddles dammitSolom but she’ll never admit it out loud, so instead she justgrumpily follows him around when he gets up during the Blight andcomplains about him keeping her awake at an unreasonable hour.
(The only exception to this is onhis wedding day; a combination of nerves and anger keep Solom uplate, unable to sleep, and he ends up sleeping in quite a bit as aresult. This disorients him for most of the day, and delays hisnormal reactions when Vaughan and friends show up in the alienage.)
OlgierdHawke lovesnight, and not for the reasons most people expect. In truth, yes, hedoes like to go to the Hanged Man for an occasional drink and a gameof cards with his friends (even though he usually loses terribly atcards; he has an awful poker face and always cracks up when he gets agood hand), but that part of the night gets done fairly early. He’snot really a drinker and he can’t tell stories as well as Varric,so it isn’t long before a few hours pass and he heads home.
No,what Olgierd loves about the night is when it gets dark and quiet, and everyone else is asleep. It’s the only time everything in hisbody just seems to settle, and he can process everything that’s happened during the day. InLowtown, this time was spent formulating ways they could earn moneyfor the expedition and how he could stay one step ahead of thetemplars without endangering his family or Aveline; in Hightown heuses this time to answer letters, particularly after he becomesChampion. There’s something about the low light, the smell of ink,and the scratch of writing that helps him relax.
MackenzieShepard had a favorite time ofthe day once, maybe. He thinks. The truth is, ever since Akuze hisability to tell the passage of time has been shot to hell and back;he can recognize that it’s night or day, but it’s not reallysomething that clicks with him. Left to his own devices he won’teven be aware of the time passing, and as a result he’s programmedhis omni-tool to remind him of specific times or hours passed so heremembers to do things like eat and rest.
Ifhe was pressed, he would say his favorite time of day is when heknows the thresher maws aren’t active—but that’s specific toAkuze, and it’s difficult for anyone to track the times of day whenthresher maws will or won’t be active.
Peoplehave stopped asking him about his favorite time of day.
Whatare their hobbies?
SolomTabris grew up in the Denerimalienage, and while he can’t speak for every alienage in Thedas, hecan say that in Denerim song and dance were a huge part of theculture there. He’s never been able to sing, even though Sorisoffered to teach him and Shianni has a voice beautiful enough to beheard in the Chantry, and dancing has never terribly interested him. It’s too similar to fighting, and he finds it hard to focus enoughto differentiate the two in his mind.
Whathe can do,and he enjoys doing it greatly, is play music for Shianni to sing toand Soris to dance to. He has a lute back in Denerim that he leftbehind when Duncan recruited him, something he bought with his ownmoney, and while he understands the need for haste it always breakshis heart that he can’t take it with him when he leaves. He’sabsolutely delighted when Leliana purchases a lute during theirtravels to lighten up the evenings, and he often plays while shesings songs or tells tales.
Lelianalets him keep the lute, at the end of the Blight.
OlgierdHawke has always known he willdepend on his hands, as a mage. His hands are how he casts magic, hishands are where he draws his blood from, and without his hands hedoesn’t know what he would be. It’s no surprise, then, that hisfavorite hobby involves his hands like everything else does. He has ahunting knife from Malcolm, a gift from his younger days when heyearned to be a warrior, and when he isn’t using that knife for hisblood magic, he uses it to carve wood.
Nothingbig or magnificent, of course, oh no. Nothing like that. He only hashis knife and his hands, and asking for anything more would bedrawing eyes to him that he doesn’t want. Instead he picks up smallblocks of wood throughout Kirkwall, and in the quiet times betweeneverything else, he carves. He never has anything specific in mindwhen he starts, but he always ends up with something when he’sdone; he’s carved a mabari for Carver, a recreation of Wesley’sshield for Aveline, and everything in between. All of his friendshave wooden trinkets: a wolf for Fenris, tattoos painstakingly driveninto the wood to match what’s on his skin. A tabby cat for Anders, the eyes painted blue. What he imagines a spirit of wisdom to looklike, for Merrill. An arrow for Varric, though it’s too small forBianca. A slightly roughrecreation of the Prophet Andraste, for Sebastian.
WhenIsabela flees Kirkwall, the only thing she takes with her is the woodcarving of the Rivain country symbol he made for her.
MackenzieShepard likes to fix things. That feels a little expected of him to admit as a hobby, consideringhis profile in the Alliance as an engineer, but it’s true. Eversince he was a child, all he’s wanted to do is fix things;something he picked up from his father, encouraged and solidified byhis mother. He spends his childhood tinkering with toys andappliances Hannah can convince people to part with on space ships, and he never fully drops the habit as an adult.
Asa result, the crew of the Normandy take to carrying old fashionedthings that occasionally require fixing—old watches and otherthings that require being taken apart and put together. Nobody askswhy soldiers are purchasing slightly out of date toy sets, but it’sworth it to see how calm the Commander gets when he’s putting itall back together for someone; and nothing can describe the smile onhis face when a person sits down and asks him if they can help.
Whatis their most embarrassing fuck-up?
SolomTabris once managed to slip outof the alienage completely alone as a child, without his mother orfather. It wasn’t an accident; he wanted to get out, to see whatthings looked like beyond the small walls he’d known all his life, and it was easy enough to be quick and quiet when no one was lookingat him in the first place. All he had to do was stick close to amerchant passing through the area, keep his head down, and boom—hewas out of the alienage.
Hethen proceeded to get horribly lost in the Denerim market for therest of the day.
He’shungry, thirsty, and his feet hurt by the time he manages to get backhome. And of course, getting back into the alienage provesharder than getting outof the alienage. He hasto scale a wall somewhere to get in, and ends up falling head firstinto a bush. He’s quitecontent to stay in thealienage after that until his wedding day.
OlgierdHawke is young and horny whenhe decides it’ll be a good idea to use his magic to show off toconvince a local girl to sleep with him. It is nota good idea; they’reboth drunk when it happens to boot, so all his magic show manages todo is scare her so badly that she runs off in a drunken panic andfalls into a ditch somewhere. It’sa blessing in disguise, since once he pulls her from the ditch she’spassed out from the combination of fear and alcohol. Olgierd haulsthem both to a nearby barn, and tucks them into the hay for thenight.
Muchto his everlasting relief, she remembers nothing in the morning. He,on the other hand, becomes violently ill and terribly hungover. Andhe’s still avirgin.
Thewhole experience puts him off of trying to have sex for quite awhile,at least until he meets Isabela in Kirkwall.
MackenzieShepard is military born andbred, so for the most part he’s composed enough to avoid anyterribly embarrassing situations. That said, there is one moment thatties into his rescue from Akuze. He’s tired, hungry, thirsty, andhasn’t slept for days when the rescue team manages to find him;he’s quite convinced that they’re a hallucination, and a signthat he’s going to die.
Onthe plus side, he doesn’t panic and try to kill them.
Hedoes spendan annoyingly long amount of time arguing with them about whether ornot they’re actually real, an argument that lasts until one of themgets close enough to tranquilize him. It’s not something that isterribly funny at the time, but once he’s made some measure ofpeace with Akuze he can look back on it and laugh, at least.

Challenge Mode: 4, 8, and 17 for Rhyssa, Eliza, and the First Eliza. (If you want to!) :D
4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?
For Rhyssa Hawke, it was her utter lack of angst over being a mage that really defined her. She has a healthy respect for her powers, and she has a constant baseline fear of losing control, but she’s not ashamed of what she can do. We can thank Malcolm Hawke for that – he taught Rhyssa and Bethany that magic was a duty, not a burden, and that they needed to work to be worthy of the powers they’d been given. You need no Circle if you carry it in you were the words that defined Rhyssa’s childhood. Of course, Kirkwall spends almost ten years trying to break her down, and to teach her guilt and shame over what she is, but in the end, her father’s faith in her wins out.
The Alliance utterly determines Eliza Shepard’s life, and not in a particularly good way. She idolizes her mother, who idealizes the Alliance – unsurprising, since the Alliance gave Hannah a home, and a purpose, and saved her life, but really, that’s not something you tell a ten-year-old kid with a hero complex and superpowers. It creates…intense aspirations. I think Eliza was meant to be a Spectre, because Spectres are trusted to use their judgment when they act out the Council’s “directives”, and have a vast range of autonomy, but the Alliance is narrower, so to speak, in its purpose, in its orders, and in how those orders can be fulfilled. And since she has such close personal ties to the Alliance brass (Hackett and Anderson both knew Hannah, and acted as de facto uncles as Eliza was growing up), she can’t exactly say no to whatever they ask of her. It is a stunningly unhealthy situation (even before we get to the rot at the heart of the Alliance, that exists in the Ghost ‘verse), and since we all know Eliza refuses to respond to things in a healthy way…it’s a car crash in slow motion, and it’s defined her life.
Oh, the First Eliza. The most influential part of her backstory comes out of her isolation. The magical human culture in her world is tight-knit, obsessed with preserving what little magic is left to them, and trying to survive a war of attrition, but they all have each other, and the shared experience of their specific kind of magic (wow, it is hard as hell to write about this without a ton of spoilers). But the First Eliza isn’t like them, though she’s a crucial part of their survival, so it’s a lonely-at-the-top situation, on the surface. It goes deeper than that – she was purposefully isolated, and trapped (and, let’s be real, the victim of some deep emotional abuse), and those experiences color everything she does later. Which…definitely complicates matters, when society expects her to be excited to be their hero.
8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?
I gave Rhyssa my happy family life, because being a mage in Thedas is shitty enough without having someone who loves you at your back. Sure, she fights with Carver, and she’s scared of disappointing her parents (ahem I don’t relate to that at all), but at the end of the day, she knows they love her, and want her to be safe (even if they are turds about it at times).
I relate to Eliza Shepard’s anger, and to being genetically incapable of dealing with my emotions in a healthy or productive way (hahaha we’re getting super real here tonight, sorry!).
And with the First Eliza, I relate utterly (and…pathetically) to her loneliness. She compounds it (like I do) because her self-worth is shit, so as soon as she feels like someone is pulling back, she does too. And hahaha we’ll just move on because wow I am embarrassing myself tonight!
17. Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?
I regret adding Nor to Ghost, if only because it seems really gimmicky and cutesy in places, and trying to give her appearances dramatic weight has been a challenge, but I think there’s some cool stuff to mine, so I’m sticking with it.
Other than that – I’m pretty satisfied with where they’re at! :D

Fictober: Gunnery Chief
Pompt27: “Give me that” Fandom: Mass Effect Title: Gunnery Chief Pair: Malcolm / Ashley Rating: T
Even with the relay’s, there was still downtime on the Normandy, and Malcolm liked to use it to clean, and maintain his own gun. A situation which he had already had out with Alenko, and was about to butt heads with their own Gunnery Chief Ashley, not that he minded her doing her job but his guns were his problems, if they failed in the field, that was his life and the lives of the people he was with on the line.
“What’s up Skipper? Need me to work on that?” Ashley asked from the workbench where she had taken up residence. Her hand on Kaidan’s pistol and cleaning it, fixing some of the targeting system linked on her computer.  “No, I do my own guns,” Malcolm muttered like he had not had his coffee this morning, for some reason his guns were a no-go zone for him, and people making offers of cleaning or calibrating them were usually roughly pushed away. “You… don’t trust me?” Ash backed off a step carefully avoiding Malcolm as he set himself up on the other end of the bench.  “Not that.” “Give me that… you know it’s in the rank title right…  I have always…”  “Stop.” Malcolm swung around on Ash as he dismantled his gun without looking at it “If I wanted you to deal with my guns I would order it.” “Ok.” Ash glared back at her computer. For a split second Malcolm felt bad, he liked Ashley, maybe a little more than he should but he did not want her to think he had just put a note in her file or anything. “Ash?” “Skipper?” Ash raised her eyebrow, not taking her eye off the targeting data on her screen. “Sorry.” He cleaned the components of his gun before reassembling it. “I’m an N7, a lot rides on my guns being exact.” “I know.” Ash replied hitting the final key to get the sequence on Kaidan’s gun correct before adding “Sorry.”  “Amazing, we are actually both adults after all.” Malcolm deadpanned “It took me a lot to learn it in life Williams, an apology does not cost you anything, not apologizing could cost you a war.” “Understood.” “You have a good record, exemplary scores, you push yourself to be the best”  Malcolm continued the whole time cleaning and adjusting his weapons “I sincerely think you have what it takes to be one of the best of the Alliance. Heck, maybe even a spectre.” “What?” Ash spun to face him her surprise and genuine shock on her face. “Skipper, it was hard enough getting to Gunnery Chief.” “Yeah.” he finished with the next weapon and glanced at her “I read the file, the reports everything, I don’t see why you would have had so much trouble..” “It’s not the work.” Ash shook her head “I guess I might as well tell you.” “Tell me what?” “My Grandfather was General Williams.” “Shanxi.” Malcolm replied watching the twenty emotions flicker over the face of the woman next to him. “That explains a few things.” “Yeah, the only human “ to ever surrender to aliens”, his reputation and his name came down the line.” Ash sounded defeated as if she expected him to now kick her off the crew. She began to clean up her work station. “Is that fair to him?”  “Huh?” “Your Grandfather?” Malcolm had begun work on his next weapon at this point “Can I use your computer?” “Sure…” Ash pushed it around so that it was facing him, and he pulled up the targeting for his own weapon. “What do you mean is it fair to him? We lost Shanxi…” “He saved lives Williams, backed into a corner if he had kept fighting the cost would have been…” “Like Torfan?” “Yeah.” “You don’t regret Torfan at all do you?” she was curious and he supposed it was fair that he give her the information she was after. “Not what the result was.” He replied carefully “But the process at the time…” “I see.” “No… my mother was assigned to a ship that arrived at Mindoir after the colony was raided. I was lucky to not be with her on that cruise.” He had been sent to boarding school, in one of his mother’s more daring ideas of educating her son. “I heard though, you have to be pretty deaf not to.”  Ash looked up at him and waited.  “The soldiers who returned from the surface of Mindoir the ones who had made it there and back, they were shell shocked, an entire colony, and the ones left were brutalized, burned, and…” he stopped and shook his head angrily “Batarian pirates were to blame and but I was not going to let it stop me doing my job as a marine until Elysium.” “Shit.” Ash said in response “I completely forgot about that, so that’s the background?” “Yes. Hearing things I wasn’t meant to hear and just generally being aware of what happened.” He swallowed “My commanding officer was a Major Kyle. He sent us in, but … the pirates were waiting. They took out most of the squad.” “I see.” Ash paused again, clearly a question she wanted to ask. “Come on, I can see the burning question, just ask it.” “How… did you go from… Shepherd the soldier to the…’ Butcher of Torfan”
“I hate that nickname.” Malcolm shook his head irritated as he hit the enter key on the targeting system and loaded the data into his gun “When you see your whole squad die, and you know this, the first thing you want is a chance to take revenge. I was stuck inside, my squad was down and I was sure as hell taking as many of these bastards with me as I could.” “You took a lot,” Ashley replied, with an unmistakable hint of appreciation. “But I wouldn’t have run that risk if I had my squad in my command. I was solo at that point.” He turned away “You don’t get trained for dealing with people who can wipe out your entire squad in front of you, and then question why you killed them; I figured I had nothing to lose. So yeah, I earned the name and I wear it, I don’t like it though.” “So you don’t think my grandfather was wrong?” Ash asked then. “No, he had the odds and made a tactical decision. He protected his men, and that is all anyone can ask of a commander.” “I.. might have to think about that a while,” Ash replied quietly. “Sure, I’m done here.” Malcolm shrugged and gathered his gear to stow in his storage locker. He stopped a moment and turned to Ash “If you earn my trust, I will let you deal with my guns.” It was a big deal for Malcolm, as close to flirting as he could get. his face felt red as he turned and walked back towards the deck.

Val: 15; Artemisia: 9; Branwen: 12; Aderyn: 37 -- please! :D
15. What kind of inner life do they have — rich and imaginative? Calculating and practical? Full of doubts and fears? Does it find any sort of outlet in their lives?
Val Shepard’s life tends to be sufficiently high-stress that her inner life is usually preoccupied with planning the next mission, strategizing for the larger situation, keeping tabs on how all the people in her immediate vicinity are doing, etc. So... calculating, I guess? She feels satisfied and fulfilled when she has a lot to do. She is capable of compartmentalizing some of that stuff (though she’s not always good about compartmentalizing during the war, because everything is So Much), but isn’t good at shutting her thoughts off without being surrounded by people or absolutely exhausted, one of the two. Left to her own devices with not enough to do, she tends to get broody.
9. How do they manifest energy, exhaustion, tension, or other strong emotions?
As a child and young teen, Artemisia Shepard learned to manifest strong emotions as temper tantrums: a lot of yelling at caretakers and foster parents, followed by sulking, and sometimes running away. Over time, she learned to rein in these reactions and channel them more effectively. She learned to be still and bide her time before launching into explosive, effective action: waiting for the right sniper shot, or the right opportunity to hit her opponent. She resorts to physical activity to handle some kinds of moods -- running or another kind of workout -- but she’s also learned to be still and wait for the right moment to unleash all her pent-up energy.
12. How are they bodily expressive? How do they use nonverbal cues such as their posture, stance, eyes, eyebrows, mouths, and hands?
Huh, this one’s interesting -- especially for a game-OC character, where I’m used to her having the character’s standard restless animations!
Branwen Lavellan’s physical affect changes depending on her audience. One thing that is consistent is that she doesn’t tend to fidget -- her hands are often occupied with something useful, if possible, but she doesn’t usually fiddle with hair or clothes. Once she has the mark, though, she develops a habit of flexing and then relaxing that hand, mostly unconsciously; this is a reaction to the discomfort of the mark and the way it feels foreign to her body. Her usual stance is upright and poised; she tends to make a lot of direct eye contact when she’s talking or listening to someone.
In her own clan, or around fellow Dalish, or people she trusts, she’ll usually be relaxed, her posture more open, her expressions more animated. Around people she doesn’t know or doesn’t trust, her posture is more guarded, her hands not far from her weapons, and her expression is neutral and difficult to read. You can’t let the shemlen see what you’re really thinking, you know.
37. Have they had any special education or training that colors their means of learning about or understanding the world? Conversely, do they lack some kind of education considered essential in their world? What kind of impact has this addition or lack had on them?
Heh. Well, Aderyn Hawke has a remarkably good, classic Circle-mage education... except for all the parts Malcolm didn’t like or didn’t think were suitable for children; he encouraged her to use her powers in small ways even in youth, and omitted more punitive training methods. As a mage, however, she’s very used to pulling on magical energies, sensing the Fade, and using magic as an interpretive lens. Her religious education is a little weak, though her parents made sure she knew the basics of the Chantry catechism. Neither of her parents had a great head with arithmetic, so her math skills are a little weak. Varric helps her manage her investments, once she’s wealthy enough to have any.
Thank you for asking!
