how many OCs do you have and what are their names?
Wouldn't you like to know, weather boy? No, seriously. I do not know. It's easier to count how many story ideas I have and have the desire to write, really, which is around 30 (and counting!). I'll say some of my OCs names, though, the ones that are at the tip of my tongue:
Captain Catherine Ross is a pirate from 1719, when the Golden Age was already in decline, and she was being hunted down for sport. There's a still unnamed 'bounty' hunter after her, I put into quotes because there was a job back then that worked just like a bounty hunter but that wasn't exactly the name of it since the hunters were other pirates who worked for the Crown and the Marines, and during a conflict with him, she ends up falling down the ocean. She manages to survive, albeit with a bunch of rib fractures, but it wouldn't have been long until she died for real; if it wasn't for a siren. This siren takes her to an island where the settlers take care of her, not knowing about her past as a pirate, and she spends her days plotting her revenge. She hears stories about the siren that lives around the area from the townsfolk, who try to scare her with the thought that any of them could he a siren in disguise just waiting for her to be alone to eat her, but she's frankly unphased. She ends up befriending this young lady named Sophia, who the townsfolk say that has a habit out of showing up for a couple of days and disappearing, with lots of stories about how she's very rich and vanishes to go back home when the night dawns, when she sees her singing at a local bar. She starts to get interested in her romantically. Sophia confronts her with her true identity, but says she won't snitch and that she herself has always took an interest in pirates but she could never truly join forces. When the opportunity arrives, both Catherine and Sophia steal a ship and head to get Catherine's revenge. And yes, just to make it even more clearer than implicit hints: Sophia is the damn siren.
Hadassa Coelho is a Math teacher in 19th century Brazil, and she 'invests' in this small, failing bookstore owned by sr. Domingos de Gusmão. Her interests? The right to, every end of the month, go to the bookstore and take some of the books home without giving away even more money. One day, Domingos shows her a book he recently acquired and says she would probably find it interesting since it seemed to be about theology. She accepts, and as she's starting to read the book, she notices that the author isn't talking about the Jewish God, as Domingos initially expected. Hell, he isn't even talking about any pagan god she knows of. She gets curious and decides to investigate, discovering not only that this book was written by a dangerous cult, but also that the entity which this cult adores is cosmic horror-worthy: they call it The Hour-Glass, because it's main job is to destroy worlds when time has come.
Laerte Yoshida is a 29 yeard old japanese brazilian guy who lives in the Bairro da Liberdade, São Paulo. Due to his type of autism, which one of the symptoms include just Not Speaking, he's not fully independent and that frustrates him beyond human comprehension, because that gives an excuse to his mother, Fabiana Yoshida, to keep acting overly motherly, which in turn makes him feel like he's still 7. He earns money online, making freelance document translations from English to Portuguese and from Japanese to Portuguese; he also writes books, but hasn't been able to get a contract yet. Fabiana earns her money selling baked goods, but she's the boss AND the employees so it's not exactly an easy way to live. Laerte's writing expertise are mystery books, and his 'core interest' is Sherlock Holmes: he knows all about the man, and uses him as an inspiration whenever he feels let down. He isn't the best fan of videogames, but for Sherlock Holmes he'd make an exception and play the Frogwares games, that's how obsessed he is. His mother forces him to go to the weekly meetings she has with other """autism moms""", and he only goes because he found a friend there: her name is Joana, 19, and unlike Laerte she talks. A lot. He's trying to help her overcome some adulthood anxieties and even if they'll always be somewhat distant from each other due to the age gap and difference in interests, they still trust each other enough whenever they need someone to listen to them. AND THEN THE ACTUAL PLOT HAPPENS: he becomes a key suspect in a murder case after he's found alone, examining a dead body that was right below him. I kinda inspired him a bit on a friend I had in high school, and he's so important to me
There's a LOOOOT more, but I'll stop here for now

hastily scrawled warning note?
hastily scrawled warning note: if you could go back and change one decision you made in the game, what would it be?
oh man. oh man
(spoilers for the blind pianists story below)
thats tough........ i immediately think of the comtessa and blind pianist... i wish i couldve solved the conflict so bad or at least let elise live, but mae never shared her secrets at all. elise literally had the carmen charm on mae and me. i miss her so bad
also on the comtessa... the choice i made. it hurts me so bad. but i wouldnt change it o7
it is a bit meta to go back and change the pianist storyline, since i only knew this after i did it, but. i feasibly could have a way for mae to betray (then reconcile) them so the pianist doesnt die. and that haunts me
otherwise, hm. honestly tough to think of anything id change yet, other than where angels scar comes from (a facial scar from her dueling in the fighting rings). i can easily retcon it though so yknow (item exists but eh. its not much lol)

Note
heyyy scrolling through your hamlet stuff and i saw a post bout laertes and fortinbras and hamlet and horatio with the like face shapes (ex. hamlet being pizzafaced, horatio having a squarish face, laertes rocking a rhombus, etc.) so i was wondering what Ophelia's shape would be
i get that you're more focused on oc's right now but i would still love to see it :)
circle! but she starts to incorporate sharper elements into her design later in the play.
Tumblr media
this way she starts to mirror hamlet, who's also perceived as volatile and dangerous as a result of mismanaged grief.

I'm getting some vague thoughts about doing (another) Aemond dying 5+1 series. I just love killing him for some reason
1. OC [Daemon's bastard] kills him over Storm's End. 'A fell voice in the air.'
2. Daemon [+/- OC?] flies around burning stuff and gets the drop on Aemond. 'Hunter (Hunted)'
3. Aemond's eye gets infected after Driftmark and he dies. 'Mournful song'
4. Rhaenys uses blood magic to make Aemond kill himself [she's less theatrical than Daemon though] so Rhaena can have Vhagar 'Stolen (back)'
5. The Blacks show up after they find out what's happened to Luke and make what Dany did to KL look like a light breeze. 'Ashen wings'
+1. Aemond hates Aegon's guts for the pig incident and sides with Rhaenyra out of spite. 'The tree remembers'
Order may change. Also a few more ideas that might get swapped out:
Training accident with Ser Crispy (morningstars are dangerous)
One of Daemon's less savory 'friends' gets him while he is searching for Aegon
Daemon pulls a Laertes during sparing practice.

About me!
Hi! I'm Laertes. I've been here a while, but introductions are hard. This blog is mostly a whump prompt blog and a home for my novel A Good Man's Heart, but I will often put other stuff in it like art and crochet. Please send me asks -- I'd love to chat! Especially about my novel and my OCs.
I have a post about this blog's boundaries here
A little about me I guess. I'm aroace, gay, neurodivergent, and disabled. I am an adult although I don't feel comfortable putting my actual age publicly on the internet (if that's a deal-breaker for you I respect that but I won't be changing this). I'm currently pursuing a degree in astronomy.
I enjoy exploring darker whump themes such as domestic violence, major trauma (especially painful or unsuccessful recoveries), and addiction although my prompts will contain a huge variety of things. I also love to research and write historical (especially military) whump no later than World War I (although it's mostly Canadian and British because, well, I'm Canadian).
Please do check out what I've finished of my novel! I've never shared my writing before so I'm very proud of it!

Hi and welcome to the named-after-shakespeare-characters-tournament!!!!
For the sake of this tournament, my name is Laertes, and I will be your Host today!
PLEASE READ
A few ground rules:
-no Harry Potter
-No real people
-If a name is rather common(eg, Olivia, Kate, Jessica) and you're not absolutely sure that they were named after the Shakespeare character, don't submit them
-please try to limit the amount of Romeo and Juliet
-Alternative spellings may or may not be allowed, depending on context- eg, Juliette(Juliet) is allowed, but Reagan(Regan) is not
-characters that predate the Bard (eg, Laertes, Odysseus's father) are allowed, so long they share a name
-real people that Shakespeare wrote plays about are not allowed at the moment
-Prospero from the Nevermore Webcomic is automatically included because he inspired the tournament
-depending on the amount of submissions, OCs may be allowed, although don't count on it
-if we get too many submissions, top 60 or 120 submitted will be in the tournament
Submit your Blorbos here!
note, I don't know too much about Shakespeare, so...

I'm working on a more elegant Meet the OCs page for all my stuff but for now I wanna share my BG3 baybeeessssss
Starting with Wynleth Reiden
A High Elf Paladin of Lathander (Oath of Redemption on paper but Devotion in BG3). She goes through some hair changes over the course of the story (Act 3 really got to her). Her Act 1 look is new to my second play through, I am still not happy with it but I don't care enough because this look isn't what I think about when I imagine her.
[ACT ONE]
Tumblr media
[ACT TWO] (ignore the armor, we were experimenting with color pallets and this wasn't it lmao)
Tumblr media
[ACT THREE]
Tumblr media
She also has a war paint look I'm trying to figure out if I like or not.
Wynleth's Dream Guardian
The Emperor takes the vague form of one of Wynleth's ancestors, a Lathandite Martyr by the name of Tali (mentioned in passing in my Oneshot By Any Other Name) Wynleth doesn't recognize them until they get into Baldur's Gate, then she realizes The Emperor's whole ploy to get the party to trust it.
Tumblr media
Rhett Atwater
Another one of my actual DnD PCs brought to life. A Half Wood Elf Fighter (she's an Arcane Archer on paper but Battle Master in BG3) and our ranged weapons expert.
My beef with Larian about the lack of POC and specifically Black features is immense. She has a High Elf face preset because there really are no presets for Half Elves but I doctored the photos so she could have half-elf ears as she should. Also not the style I would have given her, but the only one that resembled her locs. I am this close to learning how to use the mod manager just to get mods to fix these oversights.
Tumblr media
Laertes Last-Name-is-TBD
A Mephistopheles Tiefling College of Lore Bard, and the only one who isn't a DnD PC of mine. He was born from me deciding to make Caprice from Legends of Avantris's Beneath Dark Wings (for the laughs and also because my only bard is literally impossible to make in BG3 (unavailable race and subclasses)) and then panicking because I actually had character ideas about him. So! Laertes! Who truly no longer has anything in common with his inspiration outside of vague visual similarities and their chosen College and instrument. (I love violins/fiddles, I want to talk about folk music, sue me Derek /j)
His hair is much curlier than pictured, and his mustache a bit more pompous. He's an instrument craftsman from Elturel who escaped with the refugees.

runs at you. fallen london. 🦇 🦑 ☀️ for anyone
🦇 What is your OC’s Ambition, and have they achieved it?
HEART’S DESIRE BAYBEY!!!!!!! my horrible depraved little guy has a hole in its heart that can obviously be filled by a card game. however this is a grueling process and it has not achieved anything other than getting mauled by a monkey
🦑 Are they human?
…not entirely! i’ve been rotating the idea that one of its parents is a devil teehee. for all intents and purposes, though, it identifies as a human and counts as a human in all the times that matter
☀️ If given the choice to return to the surface, would they?
being born in the neath, laertes doesn’t really have any strong feelings on the surface—or at least not now. i’m thinking that when it was younger it managed to make its way up and live the vampire lifestyle up there for a hot second but it turns out the sun is a deadly laser and the drama isn’t all that interesting and it missed its good ol neathy delights and so it fled back down pretty quickly. if there was a way to safely access the surface then it’d probably pay some short visits but it finds it rather boring and dull compared to the excitement of the neath and can’t really imagine leaving its home

Took me long enough to do a proper hamlet drawing!! I loveeee the way this piece turned out, composition and theme wise, I could go into depth about it for ages lol Anyway, I have got to stop making OCs with hamlet refs its getting out of hand
art tag // commission info // redbubble (print)
Audacious, the spirit bard who talks to a skull, is ofc hamlet. Alphonse's real name is Laertes, and he gave Pin the name of Ophelia. Thalin has the vibe but not a character in particular so I thought Horatio would be a good fit for him. And cam, the shakespearean actor with a crown permanently affixed to his head gets the role of Fortinbras. that all fits right? LOL
