4 and 5 for the fallout ask thing ^^
you didn’t specify which oc so i’ll just do all!
4. Give us a summary of their backstory
VAULT DWELLER: answered here
CHOSEN ONE: winifred had a standard upbringing in arroyo, spending a lot of time with her cousins and siblings and making trouble. they taught her boxing and miscellaneous survival skills and she always liked to learn from them. she was the baby of the family, besides the actual baby that her cousin had before she left arroyo. and as i’ve said, she was kind of a bully to others growing up but she grew out of that by the time she was in her preteens/teenage years.
her mom was the one who was related to the vault dweller and her dad was an outsider who made his place in the village before dying of a heart attack when she was three (which is why she worries so much for john cassidy).
COURIER SIX: memphis grew up a bit south of nevada. her name given to her at birth was elizabeth ponders but she couldn’t remember it after she got shot. her biological dad was a preacher and his husband was a mercenary. they knew they wanted a family, but struggled with finding a child to call their own until a disillusioned doctor came to their town and overheard their problem. she knew she didn’t want to travel anymore and wanted a family etc. etc. basically everything just fell into place. she grew up learning medicine from her mom and listened to her father preach every sunday. After benny shot her, she found herself drawn to religion inexplicably, and it only started to make sense after she started getting her memories back. she also learned fighting and bartering from her mercenary dad.
she found herself a part of the mojave express after running a few independent courier jobs and they didn’t like that she was lowkey stealing business. they hired her for more than she was making, so she took it.
5.  what’s their full name and does it have a meaning? do they have any nicknames and how did they get em?
VAULT DWELLER: mary’s name came straight from the vault’s baby book. i personally headcanon that no one in a vault can have the same first name so they give each expecting parent a baby naming book with names that haven’t been used yet. her last name was the same surname that her ancestor who entered the vault had - the iranian ambassador.
CHOSEN ONE: winifred has no last name, but her first name came from a popular horror novel that her outsider dad had brought into arroyo. he admired the female protagonist, who was strong enough to escape the hotel with her son despite being scared out of her mind, and she never pretended to not be afraid. she valued her gentleness and determination - funnily enough, his daughter was not gentle like her, but she is determined. not naming what it is specifically, but it starts with “the” and ends with “shining” lmao
COURIER SIX: memphis chose her name after waking up in goodsprings and heading to primm. at the mojave express, she saw a brochure map for tennessee that had floated west and chose the capital to be her name. and her last name, six, was just because she was familiar with being called courier six.
thanks!!

ABOUT my OCs
an excuse to talk about my OCs basically but also for future ask games i can link this post to anyone asking who tf they are
COURIER SIX: memphis six
memphis is 19 in canon and doesn't really remember who she is when she wakes up, so when she wanders back to primm and finds an old brochure abt tenessee that floated back to the mojave via the mojave express, she just starts calling herself memphis six.
basic info is that she is skilled with melee weapons, medicine and speech. independent vegas and she travels mostly with boone, arcade, veronica and ed-e. loved by the ncr anyways and hated by the legion, and shot house to death. she is a lesbian and sucks at gambling but likes playing caravan
she is the daughter of a priest and his husband, a mercenary, and her mom was a wandering doctor before deciding to settle down and create the 3 parent family and having memphis (longer story). basically her dads are in love and her mom is a part of the family even if she isn't in their relationship. they live somewhere south of nevada and she reunites with them a couple years post-game
other things abt memphis is that she is religious, even after getting shot, but grapples with the definition of "god" in the mojave. she claims to be non denominational but most of her religious practices and beliefs reflect baptist christianity. throughout her "canon", however, she will expand her views and appreciation for other interpretations of god and comes to the conclusion that all are true, in a sense, and religion is most valuable when it's used to bring people together to do good.
her religion is also a conflict for her because she's also very prone to violence over forgiveness and repents everytime but struggles to change her ways because she just fucking hates those legion bastards and starts firing on sight. she also tends to choose violent solutions on impulse. it's not that she has a bad temper, necessarily, but more of a bloodlust.
CHOSEN ONE: winifred
born in arroyo, winifred was named after a female protagonist in a very popular horror novel about a family in a hotel during the wintertime. growing up, she never really thought much of what was beyond the bridge, content with her home. while she was hesitant to leave, she understood that if she didn't try then arroyo would certainly perish.
basic info is that she is 17 in canon, skilled with unarmed, first aid and outdoorsman primarily (but quickly learns to improve her speech skill as well). travels mostly with marcus, john cassidy and goris and earns the title of champion for her good karma
she is very temperamental and picks a lot of fights, even if she can't win, but can also talk her way out of a situation in the same breath. growing up, her older cousins taught her boxing and she was a sort of a troublemaker (and a bit of a bully when she was a lot younger). as she grows and finds her morals, she becomes a good person but, like, aggressively good. she will bully you into doing the right thing and bully you into loving yourself, y'know?
what she hates about the developing wasteland is everyone's affinity with technology beyond what is needed for survival (i.e. new reno, the enclave). she would totally join the BOS if that was an option in the game, but reject their personal use of energy weapons and tech. she's a very DIY, nature loving girl preferring to do things "the old fashioned way"
she is also terrified of losing the people she calls family. her companions and her home are all very important to her and she becomes very domestic after the events of fallout 2.
VAULT DWELLER: mary anahid
in vault 13, when the bombs were dropping, an iranian ambassador was granted entry. he had a son, and then he had a son and so forth until mary was born as the first girl in his line (thus how she kept the surname anahid through so many generations).
basic info is that she is skilled in lock picking, small guns and speech.
mary is born with both parents still alive, being the last of three siblings, and they were older and became a bit sickly when she reaches the age of 23, when the events of fallout take place for her. within the vault, her g.o.a.t. was vault loyalty inspector which was ironic because she had a lot of anger towards jacoren. when the water chip broke, and the other vaulties perished not long after being sent out, jacoren decided that sending mary out would be a good way to get rid of her since she was raising a lot of animosity amongst the other dwellers against him.
once she left, she got the water chip on her own because she was very untrusting and wary of people. however, she hooked up with ian, katja and tycho when jacoren sent her back out to stop the mutant invasion. the adjustment to wasteland life was harder than she thought, but she manages. unlike my other ocs, she's very thoughtful and dislikes impulsivity.
also, before finding arroyo near the end of her life, she becomes a stand up comedian and was a bit of a popular act in new reno, before it was the bit city you see in fallout 2. she is very fond of writing and preforming.
SO YEAH feel free to ask questions about them

how did mary get into stand up comedy?
there were some holotapes in vault 13 that she grew up on. she always had an affinity for writing and wordplay and she always had something funny to say. she would write down some ideas during her travels, when she was longing for home and her family, but never thought she would do anything with it until she mentioned something about it to killian darkwater. he set her up for a gig at the skum pitt after the gangs were subdued and she was a riot. everyone loved her. and then it just became an act she took with her.

Hi there! How about 4, 9, 27, 42, and 48 for your vault dweller?
omg i have barely fleshed out my vault dweller thank you for forcing me to give mary anahid some development
4. give us a summary of their backstory
so obvs she's from vault 13 but her great-whatever grandfather who entered the vault was an iranian ambassador that was granted entrance when the bombs started falling. he had a son and that son had a son and basically she's the first girl directly related to that grandfather. she was raised an only child with both her mom and her dad, except they were older parents so by the time she left the vault they were too weak to follow her
her g.o.a.t. outcome put her as "vault loyalty inspector" (aka tagged skill: lockpick) which is ironic bc, well, she had a lot to say about the vault that overseer jacoren didn't really like. he partly chose her to save their vault bc it would be a good way to get rid of her and any attempt to raise dissent amongst the other vault dwellers. yikes
9. how much do they care about their outer appearance? what's their "beauty routine"? how often do they shower/bathe?
she's very neutral about her appearance. she cut her hair shortly after leaving the vault so it could be more manageable and would eventually shave her whole head. practicality > appearance but she doesn't like being filthy. bathes whenever she has the chance and sometimes likes lipstick when she finds it because the colors are fun.
27. do they prefer to travel alone or with company? who have they travelled with if any? current companion if any?
at first she was very hesitant to travel with others because she didn't trust anyone. she got the water chip all by herself but she went back to shady sands after jacoren told her to stop the mutant invasion and became friends with ian. she also got katja and tycho not long after but doesn't have the heart to put dogmeat in danger so she doesn't travel with him.
42. what's their favorite location?
junktown became one of her favorite places. she really liked killian darkwater and the vibe he had going with the town - very calming once gizmo was killed.
48. what's their favorite post apocalyptic food? are they a picky eater? do they know how to cook?
mary has a major sweet tooth and if there's one thing she really misses from the vault it's fancy lad snack cakes. and because she grew so accustomed to the food in the vault, she is kinda picky abt what she eats in the wasteland (unless she's starving). she knows how to cook a few meals that she learned in the vault but doesn't really understand recipes bc the only reasoning she has for throwing something into a pot is "because that's what dad would say to do" (he was the cook in their family).
she tries to branch out more once she leaves the vault but stopped trusting any vendor after the iguana bob situation (she didn't eat any though, she discovered the truth before she could try some)
