He maintains it's not altruism, since he gets a fine meal himself of his coworkers' love of his cooking.

It’s so wonky trying to figure out a good ‘lore’ for my oc/self insert that could work with many blorbos and I think I finally got it down but then I’m like ugh you’re making a Mary sue AND WHO CARES this is just for in my brain why does it matter ;-;

Growing up in the Mary sues are awful era really made it so anytime I wanna make my oc interesting I’m like oh is it too much? Too op? Too cool of a backstory? But she’s for my brain so why does it matter

It’s wild tho I’ve always used her in my brain but one piece is the one that’s really stuck and made me wanna think of her background in relation to that

I think my struggle rn is in all the time I’ve had her she’s always had like wind powers. So does she eat a devil fruit, but idk if I want her to eat one bc then she can’t swim, but that doesn’t seem within the realm of normal powers in the op universe without eating a devil fruit. And I have another option so it’s not like the only thing, it just seems weird since that’s what she always had.

I’m over complicating it I’m sure bc this is literally just for my own personal enjoyment but still my brain wants to be logical about it for some reason 🙄🙄

I also find one piece outfits kind of difficult bc it’s such a mix of modern and older styles I’m like what won’t look weird

Ah, but honestly - I think you should proudly write a character who bends or breaks whatever rules you want them too. It’s fun, for one, hurts absolutely no one for two - whether you keep it to yourself or share your stories.

RP communities often have guidelines, so unless you’re dealing with that, who cares? Have fun \o/

Write cringe diamonds, cringe trash, Mary Sue v 1.0 or 2.0 or whatever. Relish the x reader and the self insert. Have one bat wing and one angel wing or whatever and your character is the cause of wars she’s so godsdamned gorgeous- just

Enjoy whatever you do.

If she has wind powers from birth that’s not too out there anyway. The Minks all light up like Tesla Coils from birth, there’s no reason there can’t be another tribe - rare or lost or whatever - that had something similar. Hells, what’s his face winged-angel-gimp-daddy has magic fire powers.

And also I think it’d be great if she let people think she had a DF and then just like, yote herself into the sea for whatever reason.

Here is my oc altmer (mostly) shock mage, Tessla. (See it's a play on Tesla coils and Nikola Tesla; SHUT UP I'M FUNNY) She decided to leave the Thalmor and put that part of her life behind her. She also has an amulet of Talos and uses the Talos shrines. She also did the jump on the dragon's head kill thing, with just her ebony dagger and a shock spell. She's cool as shit; I love her.

I found another mod I want to play--the Second Great War, because I want to wipe out the Thalmor once and for all! @napoleontheclown said I should have an altmer follower for it; my first thought was Taliesin, but I don't really like him. I think he would be entertaining for the right character; I just personally don't vibe with him. And I don't like or don't know anything about any of the other ones I've seen so I decided to just make one.

I'll probably use Familiar Faces since I already know how it works, and it will be easier and faster and less likely to break things. Some day maybe I might go in Creation Kit and make some dialogue where I ask her about her past or something. It's always a little bizarre when you make a character and then turn them loose in the game as an NPC because you never know what they might decide to do. I can't wait to see what she does. They're never as powerful as an NPC as I make them as a player character though. She'll probably get in a fight with Inigo at some point but I think I know what to do about it now.

Just thought I should bring this up but there ARE loaders with antenna!! :DD They're the ION loaders from BL2! (which is weird because Fl4k has an ION loader and they dont have the antenna)

Maybe you could use it as inspiration for where you wanna put the antenna on your loader oc?

lmao I completely forgot those exist because they spawn pretty rarely for me for some reason. I haven‘t seen a single one while looking for mini bots and those are supposed to be more rare.

fun fact: those aren‘t antennas. they are tesla coils aka resonant transformer circuits made for producing high voltage! They are probably missing from fl4ks ion loader because, against popular belief, its actually quite dangerous to get zapped by or touch them directly, so they were probably moved inside the chassis in newer models. Our bodies don‘t register the pain the way it does from for example a outlet in the house(50 Hz) bc nerves are less responsive to high frequency currents produced by tesla coils (50 kHz-1 MHz) but the electricity still heats your tissue meaning that they could cook you from the inside out :D

Antennas on the other hand are made to transmit and recirve signals such as radio or television.

but even tho they are not antennas I do think they look cute and would add to the child like spirit I‘m going for, especially with these little bobbles at the end.

It gives me the mental image if them going frrrt like these doorstopper thingies cats like to play with so much when you flick them.

So... tell me about your OCs

Gladly! Here's some quick descriptions of a bunch of them; let me know if you wanna hear more about any in particular!

Dzamie Deshulian - basically the main character. Hypercompetent, definitely a sort of post-edgy cheetah boy who's kinda the central spoke of the OC web. Usually pretty upbeat these days, remarkably egocentric. Loves dragons so much. Has a dragon boyfriend and girlfriend (HM and Dream)

HM Deshulian - sadistic dragon basically kept in check by either tedium, his boyfriend, or his girlfriend (Dzamie and Dream). Very proud of being a dragon. Takes particular pleasure in reminding others of their place in the food chain: below him. Surprisingly mechanically handy, and quite friendly when not trying to kill you.

Mistress Dreamwalker - the manic pixie dream girl to Dzamie's manic pixie dream boy. Extremely corrosive saliva, tears, and other bodily fluids. Wields her Blue Carrot Launcher, which shoots her specially-cultivated lolrandumb explosive blue carrots. Loves YTPs. Has two boyfriends (Dzamie and HM).

Kenneth Oberon - powerful human mage, occupying the only might-makes-right high political seat in the government. Bit of a stick in the mud, if you ask Dzamie. Used to have a bitter, heated rivalry with Dzamie that's since mellowed to a friendly one.

Sylvia the dragon - little golden hammerspace dragon who hangs out in the Dragonslayers Guild Hall to receive affection and strawberries. Has the unofficial duty of "remind newbies that any dragon in our books can kill a person with ease." She usually spits them back out afterwards.

Tesla Coil - MLP OC, a lamia who incapacitates targets with an electrified, rather than venomous, bite. She works for [unnamed secret Equestrian govt agency], and when she's not busy keeping tabs on interspecies relations, she's the building's de-facto innermost security detail (read as: anyone who slips past the real security will probably get eaten)

Eris - MLP OC (stolen from fanon), a draconequus who's gone from a Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony to a Lesser Deity of Chaos and Improbability. Technically Dzamie's god, for all the casual air they take towards each other. Her favorite pastime is usually-harmless pranks, especially on her followers. Has a minor feud with Fyoor. Very casual with warping reality around her.

Fyoor - goddess of most human mages, and basically Rage Given Deity Form. Cannot stand Eris; unauthorized fucking thing, blow it up immediately. Created by mages' prayers. She particularly enjoys actions done in anger.

Wendy - shark girl, works at an aquarium where she basically does dive shows (talk about the fish in the exhibit, maybe do a feeding). Lives nearish to a beach, and approaches stranded people to ask if they want to be rescued or eaten; occasionally moonlights as a moat shark for generic villains. Technically a lemon shark, but got stripes tattooed on her back for the "tiger shark" joke.

Been a hot minute since the zappy noodle showed up, eh? I wanted to experiment with her stretching her mouth to different points, and more practice drawing hands is always nice.

Tesla's a pretty nice and docile snek, but chances are the only reason she's letting that human go this far is that they've promised her a nice, big meal.

HAHA...so ummmmm sometimes you decide to dive a little deeper into the abyss, and get sucked in, and then you’re changing the character you made for fun into something more fleshed out because you went too deep you know?

AHEMHEM SO. This is Professor Tezla Quoil! An ex-mad scientist from the planet Argenti. After serving her time in prison, her good behavior and handiness earned her a spot at Star Command as something of a babysitter Assistant to the LGM.

Like all inhabitants of Argenti, her body conducts and creates electricity naturally. Her hair is really just a mass of energy that she does her best to keep tame. She’s a great jumper cable!

Tezla stretches all of her “s”s into “zzz”s, and her “z”s are drawn out even longer. It’s a common quirk back home but not so much here...

Though incredibly smart and often ingenious, she’s lazy and would much rather try to have fun than focus on work. Everything here is so DIFFERENT, so, why not mess around and find out?! She’s quick to blame the LGM though...

Also just kind of picks up XR like “I just think he’zzz neat! :D” and is a terrible enabler.

Well, I have nothing on the brain lately regarding Arlong and while Beckman has been on the brain I still have nothing really to share. So, per @kazieai's sharing I got to thinking about one of my snake OC's that I sent in the previous time you asked for gushes.

I'm going with Modeus, or as you described him the "not friend-shaped" & "too bitey" OC. I talked about him since then and honestly couldn't remember anything I had come up with for him because I'm a dork. I had forgotten that I had gifted him a Hiss-Hiss fruit and I now would like to rescind all of that.

As you pointed out to Kaz, her OC could just inherently have wind powers just as easily as all Minks glow like Tesla coils. I've found that how I've constructed Modeus' characterization in terms of personality and diet do not lend themselves well to devil fruits. We haven't really seen a Zoan Devil Fruit that makes the user eat other people. At least, as far as I know, X Drake hasn't regularly consumed a steady diet of people based out of nutritional need.

So I'm thinking Modeus' DF would not give him reason to consume people when he was in full Yuan-ti form. And if he's going to be as old as I want him to be, then he can't have a DF because as far as I know, Marco has the only immortal fruit. Or are there more immortal DF users walking around (because let's face it, I am never going to catch up to speed)? Anyway, I think he needs to actually be a snake person.

Not necessarily the Yuan-ti from the D&D Monster Manual (3.5 edition), but definitely a snake creature that I pattern strongly off the physical appearance of a Yuan-ti.

Is he a member of a reptilian based tribe? Is he a bastardization of some fishman hybrid with god only knows what else? Is he some kind of mutated hybrid offspring of a Sea King? Is he a lab experiment? Is he a demon?

I don't know what the hell he is at this point. But, he does eat people. He does hate pretty much everyone. He can shapeshift sort of into a human-esque being for ease of mobility through populated areas. He does end up joining the Cross Guild.

He still hates that he can't figure out how to eat Alvida. He hates that Buggy is smart enough to avoid being eaten as well. He has a healthy fear (respect) for Daz since he could theoretically skin Modeus alive with literally any part of his own body. He has a solid respect for Mihawk both as a person and as a swordsman (because remember, Modeus dual wields scimitars). And he HATES Sir Crocodile with an unyielding passion.

Why?

No one really knows. Sir Crocodile doesn't care, he just knows Modeus hates him and he banks on that for every last one of their interactions. I still think Trafalgar and Bepo should end up with the Cross Guild now that the Heart Pirates are no longer. Modeus desperately wants to eat Bepo but he has learned not to try because Trafalgar is dangerous enough to be a threat to Modeus' immediate safety and comfort.

Having skinned just enough off of Modeus for a pair of new snake-skin boots certainly got the point across. Trafalgar's people are his people and therefore not for eating.

Mihawk, because he is quite possibly the only HUMAN who gets along with Modeus, makes the suggestion that instead of collecting the bounties of the Marines he could save the Cross Guild the payout by simply eating his bounty. Modeus loves this idea and proceeds to take the most difficult bounties and devours them when he catches them. To make sure he is an honest and contributing member of the Guild, he always brings the bounty back to the Cross Guild alive first, so they can see he isn't lying (this was his own idea, no one has ever questioned his honesty/loyalty) and then takes them into the woods to eat them.

It has been requested by the Guild higher ups that he not eat his quarry at night as it is increasingly difficult to sleep to the sounds of murder and the dying screams of terrified men. Bepo has been suffering profusely from nightmares since they joined the Guild and Mihawk thinks it best that mealtimes for Modeus coincide with everyone else's regular mealtimes.

Once Modeus realizes he's in love with Avalon, he starts offering to share his quarried meals with her. Being the lady of grace that she is, she declines most of the time. Her lamia form does have a "feeding frenzy" mode and when that is active then she takes him up on mealtimes and they eat together.

Which creeps even Trafalgar out. But that only occurs about once every quarter or so. Avalon lives on a DF-mandated schedule whereas Modeus simply is as evil as he can get away with.

Fun facts regarding Modeus and the Admirals. He is ill-paired with former Admiral Aokiji, the popsicle ability does exactly as you would think with a reptile-based lifeform. Slows him down considerably and makes him sluggish. Fleet Admiral Sakazuki has the opposite effect on Modeus and makes him "better" in every way. While Sakazuki strives to avoid confrontations with Modeus, Modeus strives to avoid confrontations with Kuzan.

Issho and Borsalino are neutral regarding Modeus. He doesn't like the gravity effects of Issho's fruit but can work around them if he needs to. Likewise, he isn't as fast as Borsi Baby but the Admiral has a hard time getting through Modeus' scales.

Aramaki on the other hand, well, he's a royal pain in the ass just as Modeus is a royal pain in the ass for him. Modeus is at home in a forest. The Admiral can go as woodsy as he wants and it just helps Modeus. However, the whole regrowing bit drives Modeus up a wall because he cuts a tree limb there and another grows here to replace it. They are equally matched and equally mismatched at the same time. Their fights always end up a stalemate with them hating each other's guts immensely.

Aramaki takes after the Fleet Admiral and tries to avoid confrontations for these reasons whereas Modeus takes after Kuzan and goes out of his way to confront Aramaki just to annoy him. Kuzan in turn likes engaging with Modeus to irritate him, I don't think Kuzan wants to kill him but he does like aggravating him when the opportunity presents itself.

And that's all I have this go-around.

I gotta be honest one of my most favoritest parts about this is how you have the relationships worked out. Who has a leg up where and who doesn't, and it all makes great sense too, I love it.

(I admittedly think it would also be good for Modeus to "experience" Bepo going Sulong during a full moon. I think Law suggests it as a way for Bepo to stand up for himself. At least for a few minutes Modeus realizes he's food to Bepo, not the other way around).

I just really love all the little details though, the slight differences between him and Avalon and how their different circumstances and vibes intertwine and vary.

I look forward you to sorting out the exact details of his origin too ^_^ He might not be friend shaped, but he is interesting.

To clarify, Marco's DF doesn't make him immortal in the "live forever" sense, it just makes him nigh indestructible. He still ages, and will likely die of old age at some point.

That said, there are possibilities for people who are immortal thanks to earlier owners of the Ope-Ope No Mi, so immortality is still a canonical viable thing.
