I'll love you better when I'm dead
(chapter 206 from Sanzu's POV)
(tragic MuSan drabble)
(link to ao3 in case some one preferes to read it there)
First of all...I'm sorry for this (not really but yes a lot at the same time, but I did this to myself too). An evil snail shared with me this AMAZING AND BRUTAL essay on Sanzu & katana-chan and reading the last pages about Mucho, this fic happened. So first of all...
GO, READ THE ESSAY NOW!
Summary: "We are both dying here today, captain."
[or why Sanzu looses his grip]
Warnings: Manga Spoilers. Major Character Death (chapter 206, duh). Hurt/No Comfort. Like for real, comfort has been slashed with a katana and is sinking in the bottom of the ocean.
The title is from "Love you better" because I listened in a loop for two days while reading the essay and writing this.
Oh, I played with Sanzu name (again, yes) but this time doing a full Jinx, ooopsie!
(English is not my first language, so be nice please 🙈)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s been six months since the Kanto Incident. Six months of planning for this day, of imagining how he’s going to punish that damn traitor. Of pretending his whole body doesn’t ache at the idea of killing the only person that made him feel like he mattered.
Haruchiyo is good at that, at hiding his true feelings from the world, lying to himself as much as he needs as a way of achieving it. He’s good at rationalize the overwhelming whirlwind of emotions that threaten to flood his mind all the time. He’s used to repress the pain, keep his anxiety at bay, bury all of it next to the memories he can’t face without having the need to scream and break everything at his reach (including himself).
Six months that seem to crumble the second his captain’s eyes light up when he spots him outside the detention center.
The ride is dominated by silence, that only breaks with Muto’s simple questions about how he’s been doing during this time. Genuine concern plastered on the face he’s supposed to hate. Haruchiyo wants to laugh hysterically at this, the irony that even now the older boy is only worried about him. Instead, he just gives short answers, knowing the other won’t push his boundaries.
They are finally at the wharf and his resolve flatters for a moment, overwhelmed by a kindness that he forgot how warm it feels.
“I’ve been waiting for this day...”
Haruchiyo trails off, talking mostly to himself. His hands grip the hilt of the katana, steading his inner turmoil with the reminder of why he’s doing this. The tangible proof of his vow, of the promise that gives him purpose. Wielding it with years of practice, preparing himself to strike a fatal blow.
‘Is that it? Is that the only reason I’m doing this?’
He hesitates, consciously loosening his grip on one hand and landing a sloppy cut that buys him some precious seconds.
“You damned betrayer!”
‘Liar, you made me think I could trust you, made me feel safe, seen. How can you say you love me when you couldn’t tell your treason would rot everything we shared?’
“Sanzu...?”
Muto looks at him in shock, trying to stop the bleeding with his hand and falling on his knees. He’s the perfect image of bewilderment, like he can’t comprehend what is happening, why is happening.
“I’ve been fooling you all along.”
‘I’ve been fooling myself, pretending this never meant anything to me. Pretending you never meant anything to me.’
Haruchiyo keeps talking, winning some time in order to collect his thoughts, to understand his own feelings in order to let them go and fully put his heart on the second hit.
“Remember our conversation that day when we were playing shogi? I said it, right?”
‘Do you remember how you told me I also mattered? You made me yearn for more, you were the first person that taught me to be selfish, to listen to my own needs.’
It’s almost ironic, realizing killing Muto is a sick way of putting himself first. Realizing this is personal.
“Protecting the king is the priority. You betrayed Mikey, didn’t you?”
‘You betrayed me, didn’t you?’
He takes off his mask, the scars reminding him of his place, letting go the faint illusion it could ever be somewhere else. That it could be next to his captain. He can’t forget it again, can’t keep hiding his devotion behind his craving for affection.
A sadistic grin on his face. That’s the new mask he’s going to show to a world that will never be the same for him.
“Now it’s checkmate.”
This time the cut is fatal, slashing a lot more than flesh and bones and severing the ties between them.
‘We are both dying here today, captain.’
Somehow, Muto hears the words he never says. But his will be the only tears shed, no one else will mourn the Haruchiyo that knew genuine love.
Sanzu can’t allow himself to grieve. He can’t be weak again, these seconds that felt like ages will be the last entertaining the idea he could be more than a loyal knight to his beloved king.
He made a promise and Sanzu is willing to do anything in order to fulfill it. Even killing a part of himself forever. His weakness, the love that tempted him to break free of his sacred vow. In a twisted way, he can’t avoid thinking how fitting it feels burying it with his captain.
Haruchiyo is dead.
Only Sanzu prevails.

"Happy Birthday Haru."
Whisp of cold air leaves the girl as the quiet words leave her. Seafoam eyes can barely look toward the other, staying fixed on the seedlings wrapped within careful gift box. Roses were a befitting flower in Hifumi's mind, perfect for the girl that stood before her.
"I wish I could do more than just this but, well..." For a moment the leader of the phantom thieves, the steadfast queen and commander.... lowers her guard. There was no sense in hiding what was already known.
Togo Hifumi is neither inflatable nor indestructible, the previous months strife she caused, the interrogation room and her escape from it... All it it had broken any image of poise that most would have expected her to have. Only so many bruises can be covered up from make up and emotional damage would take time still.
She knew better of that now.
"Once everything is over, I promise to make up for this." And yet despite it, it is not with a look of defeat but a weak smile that Hifumi offers Haru. Lowering the veil was hard but was something she deserved. Hifumi's honestly. "I had hoped to actually grow them and present you with them rather than just the seedlings...."
"Devotion... is a gift all on itself after all and I never want to take it for granted ever again. "
Tumblr media
Haru's birthday was always cold. The temperature outside freezing and snowy while the festivities inside weren't much better. Yes presents lied the walls of her room, extravagant gifts from acquaintances and strangers alike that would make any man with even an inkling of greed in their heart turn green with envy. But these gifts did nothing to warm Haru's heart. Often they left her more frigid then the very air outside did. This year had thus proven no different.
Despite the death of her father there was no lack of gifts this year. Again her room was filled with finery hidden beneath glittering packages. Many gift tags still had her fathers name on them. Yet she knew he could not have gotten them for her. He was far too busy, he cared far too little. It left her to question how long had it been since her father had bought her a gift? Could she even remember a time when he had? Thus the first frost of her heart set in.
She opted to spend as little time at home as she could this birthday. The constant stream of gifts from people only looking to take from her wore on her quickly. She needed an escape from it and soon. So she went for the one place that had felt warmest this time of year, Leblanc. Despite all that had happened with the death of her father, the revelation that she'd been used as a pawn once more, the capture of Hifumi, all of it, she still felt safest in that small coffee shop at the backstreets of Yongen-Jaya.
Outside the cafe in the frozen air she was greeted by her dearest leader, Hifumi Togo. A quiet birthday wish leaves her were it not for the hushed sound of the backstreets her voice would have been lost. A carefully wrapped gift box sits in her hands and Haru believes it is the most beautifully wrapped gift she has ever seen. It doesn't glitter or shine like those at home. But in her hands, no in her heart, it feels warm.
She unties the ribbon careful as not to drop it and opens the top of the box to see the potted plant inside. Small green seedlings in dark earth smiles up at her contrasting amongst the wintry white of the world around them. A small gasp escapes her, she feels heat behind her eyes as though tears are threatening to form. "Hifumi..."
Tumblr media
She falls silent so as to listen to Hifumi and smiles. Hifumi was no longer simply Haru's leader and Haru was no longer simply Hifumi's follower. With this gift between ready to grow and blossom into something beautiful, it finally felt as though they were more then that. They were equals and they were friends. Haru steps forward putting the gift so it rests in both their hands, keeping her earthy brown eyes locked with Hifumi's oceanic green. "They're perfect, Fumi-chan. As seedlings we can grow them together and they'll grow even bigger and stronger and lovelier then any rose bush that's ever been planted."
The cold surrounding Haru seems to melt away and suddenly it feels as though summer has come.

For prompts, I saw a one word one sentence challenge on tumblr or whatpadd, I'm not sure but it would be nice to see what you do with it for harugou :)
I think I did something similar to this a while back! Found it, edited it and posted it on AO3, and below of course!
HaruGou: Drabbles By Confused Panda Bear Chapter 36: Just One Read it below or on AO3.
Skirt Gou spreads her hands over the back of her pleated skirt before she bends down to gather her things, and Haru thinks to himself: why are the girl’s summer uniform skirts so short? – though what baffles him the most is why he cared
Nap Haru’s not sure how this has happened, but she’s fast asleep with her cheek pressed against his shoulder, and he doesn't dare move until she stirs awake and wipes at her eyes and blushes through an unneeded apology.
Chill She wakes with a start when the bed sheets are pulled from her shoulders, though Haru’s body quickly compensates for the loss of warmth when he drags her close and whispers thickly: “wake up, Kou – I want you again...”
Movie “Ariel is an idiot–” Haru concludes after his first viewing of his Gou's favourite childhood film, “–why would she ever want to leave the ocean?!”
Popular Haru should have known that she’d have other friends – they had nothing else in common besides Rin and the team – but it still pisses him off more than he expects it to when Makoto says to him one day: “Gou-chan is pretty popular with the boys from her class, neh Haru-chan?”
Jacket She could have never predicted that there could be so much rain in the middle of summer – or the way Haruka took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders and told her not to get a cold.
Drunk “You’re wasted, Haruka-senpai,” she says, disgusted even though she knows full well he only drinks like this after they've had a big fight; and instead of words, he meshes a hand in her hair and kisses her hard, and his lips are like something of an apology even though they taste like that last shot of whiskey he downed to forget about her.
Name He wouldn't admit it to her because he'd never hear the end of it: but there’s no better feeling in the world – yes, even better than swimming – than having Gou lie beneath him, with her hair spilled across his pillow and her mouth rounded to the shape of his name.
Confession Rin’s left eye twitched – “So…you and Haru are…?” – Jesus, he can’t even bring himself to say it, and the pink that creeps across his sister's face is all the answer he needs to storm into the other room with Gou following after him, shouting fearfully:  “Onii-chan, please put down that lamp!”
Breaking Haru thumbed over the buttons of her cellphone number but froze just above the sixth digit because Gou always said that he was never that good on the phone and Nagisa had warned him against it earlier, telling him that: “he’s a pretty nice guy, Haru – and Gou seems really happy with him too, you know?”
Spy He tries to be as quiet as he can, but the floorboards creak under his feet and give away his position – “Haru!” Gou gasps, but rushes into his arms all the same, “you know it’s bad luck to see the bride before the ceremony!”
Jealous Haru planted a hand on the tiled wall by her head, his heart still racing from that last lap against that Samezuka captain Gou had been ogling at all afternoon: “you like me, right?” he spoke with such disconcerting candour that she could only bring herself to nod in response – “then only look at me.”
Ache He was in too much of rush before; he had been too rough with her, as if he didn’t have the time to appreciate her like he wanted to, and glancing at her now with lust-filled eyes that she almost panicked: “Haru, I'm a bit–” “–I know, you’re sore,” he whispered soothingly, “it’s okay, I just want to look at you, that’s all.”
Beach “Aren’t you going to swim, Haruka-senpai?” Gou asks after an hour or so of lounging around on the sand, but he rests his chin on top of her head and answers with complete and utter indifference: “hmm...maybe later.”
Special Gou remembers their first time well because Haru had rushed to the convenience store right in the heat of the moment and returned with a box of foil packets and glow sticks which he carefully lined along his bedside table – dim, rather pathetic hues of pink and blue which she had adored but he had looked down on in dismay, saying: “the store didn’t sell any candles – I wanted to make tonight special but I really didn’t think this through.”

“Haru-chan! Rin-chan is here! Are you ready to go?” Haru’s mom called to him up the stairwell. Soon enough, little Haru emerged from his bedroom wearing his ugly Christmas sweater with a cartoon mackerel on it, giving his mother a small nod before slowly making his way down the stairs. Taking his hand, she walked him to the front door where Rin had been waiting excitedly to see his best friend.
“Haru-chan!” he exclaimed, slinging his arms around him into a hug. Of course, Haru didn’t hug him back, but secretly, he was very fond of skinship with Rin, who was completely oblivious to the light blush dusting Haru’s cheeks.
“Alright, you boys have fun!” was the last thing Haru’s mom said before the two friends were off to the annual Iwatobi Swim Club Christmas party.
“Bye, aunty!” Rin called as they made their way down the sidewalk, waving to Haru’s mom who still stood in the doorway.
“How come your sweater has a mackerel on it, Haru-chan?” Rin giggled, pointing to the fish embroidered on the middle of his sweater, “Mackerels aren’t for Christmas! Look at mine! It’s a reindeer.”
“I like mackerel. My mom made it for me,” Haru answered quietly.
“But it’s not a Christmas animal!”
Haru simply ignored Rin’s comment, choosing instead to look out at the beautiful ocean glistening under the sunlight along the path to the Iwatobi swim club. He felt as though the waves were calling to him, inviting him to jump in and go for a swim, but given how chilly it was out, he suppressed the urge to do so.
“Wow! Look at the decorations, Haru-chan!” Rin exclaimed as the swim club came into view, grabbing Haru by the hand and running up to the entrance.
“Merry Christmas, Rin and Haru!” Coach Sasabe greeted at the door, “Makoto and Nagisa are already inside.”
“Merry Christmas!” Rin answered in passing as he dashed into the main room where the arts and crafts station was set up, still dragging Haru along with him. This year, it was wreath making, so staff members had pre-cut paper plates to use as the base, and then hole-punched them and tied them with ribbon so it could be hung. Small squares of tissue paper were cut to use as the leaves, and small bells, pine cones, pompoms, and ribbon were provided to use as embellishments.
“Rin-chan! Haru-chan!” a familiar voice called from one end of the table. It took only a few seconds to spot the small blonde boy, jumping around in his seat and waving his arms in the air for the two boys to see. Next to him sat another boy, bigger in frame with brown hair and green eyes, who greeted Haru and Rin only as they approached, seating themselves in the empty seats next to them.
“Wow!” Rin chimed, peering over at the wreaths his friends made, “Nagisa and Makoto are almost done with their wreaths!” Without wasting any time, Rin grabbed whatever supplies he could get his hands on and started gluing them onto his paper plate frame, eager to join in on the Christmas festivities with his swimming buddies. The three of them finished making their wreaths within the next five or so minutes, meanwhile, Haru was taking his time to make his.
“Haru-chan, you’re so slow!” Rin teased, looking over to see that more than half of Haru’s plate was still empty, “We’re gonna go play games in the back. Come meet us when you’re done!” Before Haru could even acknowledge what Rin said, he’d already run off with Nagisa and Makoto to the games station, leaving Haru at the table alone to finish his wreath. He’d been crinkling each square of tissue paper before gluing it on to make his wreath fuller and fluffier, and at the end, he added some pine cones and pompoms, and tied some ribbon into a bow to glue at the top.
“Wow, look what we have here, a little artist!” Coach Sasabe remarked, seeing Haru’s finished wreath and giving him a pat on the head, “Where are the others?”
“Playing games,” he answered in his usual soft spoken voice.
“Why don’t you go play with them? There’s still time, and we’ve got some pretty good prizes this year, y’know!”
Haru gave no verbal response this time, but after hearing Coach Sasabe’s words, he got up out of his seat and made his way to the back where the games were set up to find his friends. Rin ended up spotting him first and ran up to him with his handful of prizes from games he’d won, one of which happened to be fish. “Here,” he offered, handing the fish plushie over to Haru, “It matches your sweater!”
“Thanks,” Haru muttered, looking away to hide the blush creeping onto his cheeks as he took the toy from Rin.
“I wanna see your wreath,” he demanded, grabbing the craft which dangled from Haru’s wrist by the ribbon tied around the top. “Wah! How come yours is so nice?!” Rin whined, holding his own wreath up to Haru’s to compare.
“Yeah, yours is really nice, Haru!” Makoto added.
Ignoring both of their comments, Haru started to wander off to look at the games instead.
“Oh, oh! This game is fun, play this one!” Rin insisted, taking Haru again by the hand and dragging him along to the games he’d played earlier.
Wanting to get home before it got too dark, the boys only played a few more games before eating and getting ready to leave.
“Shall we walk home together, Haru?” Makoto suggested before the four boys parted ways. Haru hummed and gave a brief nod in response, given he and Makoto did live close to each other.
“Alright then, we’ll be going now. See you guys later!” Makoto announced with a wave, heading down the path to his and Haru’s houses.
“Wait,” Haru interjected, turning back and running up to Rin, who gave him a puzzled look as he approached. “Here,” Haru spoke as he handed his wreath to Rin, “You can have it.”
“Really?!” Rin’s eyes widened in excitement, reaching out to grab the little craft from him, “Thanks, Haru-chan!”
***
“You still have that thing?” Haru asked Rin as they unpacked the Christmas decorations to put up in their new, shared apartment.
“Yeah, why would I throw it away?” Rin questioned, as he looked for somewhere to hang the makeshift wreath.
“Because it's old…”
“Old doesn’t mean bad. This was the first gift you ever gave me, y’know. I’ve cherished it since then. I even took it with me to Australia.”
Thinking back to that day, Haru remembered that he too received a gift from Rin, that he’d held dear for the past however many years it’s been. He’d still yet to unpack it from one of the many boxes piled in the bedroom, but little did Rin know that Haru never slept without the little fish plushie that he’d won for him at the Iwatobi Swim Club Christmas party that one year in primary school.
They're together in the present in case you're wondering

___________________________
Appearance and Personality
Appearance: Nerine has a curvy and slender female body build with pale-white skin. She has cyber grape purple hair which she ties it into a braid and it reaches towards her back. She has nevada sky eyes which they can turn into punch pink when using her half-myth abilities.
She's a well-mannered and looks pretty serious on the outside but is secretly geeky and also sassy and friendly high-class noble who often helps her older sister since she's a heiress but currently in training. Is secretly an otaku but the others knew about it.
Personality: Nerine is the second child and daughter in her family, she's quite close with her older sister and uncle. She became an otaku because her uncle stuffed her interests with anime and mangas and her older sister spoiled her with a lot of sweets. This would be explain her love for sweets, despite not wanting to admit it towards the other.
Her family and uncle runs a gaming company and her older sister will inherit the business when she's gets older.
Nerine seems well-mannered like any other high-class noble but is actually sassy and geeky, she seems have no interest towards her status as a noble and wants to live her life out instead.
Despite her cold, strict and serious appearance on the outside for everyone to see and fear of, besides her good friend Kiara's presence. She's actually pretty friendly and sweet and if you're on her goodside at least.
On her good side, she's pretty friendly and also sassy and sly, I can expect her to beat you in a couple of games that she plays or not but will still beat you since she owns a video game company, of course.
If you're on her bad side and if you cause a slight trouble on her watch, do expect a ice cold glare looking down on you if you don't do your work properly or else, you're in big trouble now. Since the dorm is cold as ice, she's probably do a quick solidification on you eventually like any other ocean myth. Don't disappoint her now okay?
Despite her very own status as a high-class noble, it doesn't stop on what makes her happy for her life.

Spring and Lily: Chapter 4
The First
Tumblr media
Ocean Sun sparkling from the waves Eyes hurt Yet impossible to look away
Sand between toes Sparkles everywhere Ice cream lips Cold and warm
Summer vacation, never feeling so good. The heat. Doesn’t matter. Spring in the summer. The hum of the dancing waves, drowning everything.
She is so pretty, my own Haru-chan. I don’t care what others think, they don’t have to know. This is a secret between us.
Can I? Yes… yes, you can. Trembling voice, shaking hands. Salt. On the lips. But ice cream too. Yuri-chan? Yes? I love you. I love you too, Haru-chan.
Soft lips, meeting in the ocean shore. The beauty of the first. Kissing, alone but together. Spring can make the lily bloom.

An AU or whatever where the Iwatobi boys are stuck in each other's nightmares and they have to go through each one and overcome their demons together to escape:
They enter a nightmare, they're standing on the beach facing a stormy ocean and it's dark and the waves are crashing dangerously and the water is merciless and angry and it's a terrifying sight. Makoto, who's starring out at the hellish waters petrified, reaches out to Haru seeking solace, expecting Haru to be looking at him comfortingly.
Except Haru has his eyes fixed on something still, lying further down the beach that's clearly had the misfortune of entering the water and being spat back out by the violent waves. Nagisa quietly says "I guess this is Mako-chan's nightmare..." As Haru approaches what quickly becomes obvious is the lifeless body of Makoto, he says "No, it's mine."

Haru is not the best at putting his feelings into words. If he knows anything about himself, it’s this. However, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel things strongly, deeply, and sometimes achingly so. After pushing away everyone and almost losing himself by trying to run away from his complicated emotions, he wants to learn to be more open about what’s going on in his head. He starts by trying something a little more... unorthodox, but he’s willing to do it to be closer with the person who has never taken his emotions or vulnerability for granted.
After their small graduation party has ended and everyone else has gone home, Haru and Makoto are cleaning up Haru’s house (he always gets roped into hosting somehow) while Makoto goes on about how nice it was to have everyone over to celebrate. Always observant, Makoto notices how Haru’s usual monosyllabic hums between Makoto’s comments are laced with nervousness. He simply watches Haru deftly move around the room with a distant look on his face before he decides to ask, “is something on your mind, Haru-chan?”
Haru stops and stares up at Makoto’s patient smile for a silent minute before walking towards his bedroom. “Sit down. I have something to give you.”
Makoto watches Haru go, surprised and a little confused, but sits down anyways. “What’s this for? You didn’t have to get me anything.” The rest of his ramblings about how hosting their graduation party was enough of a gift already die in his throat when Haru returns, holding a thin sketchbook to his chest with a palpable fear he can’t quite conceal etched into his features. “... Haru?”
Haru sits down next to Makoto and takes a deep breath to ground himself before speaking. He idly picks at the twine wrapped around the sketchbook and looks down at his lap to keep his nerve while trying to explain himself. “Makoto...” After a few more deep breaths, he starts again.
“Makoto, I’m not great at saying everything that’s on my mind. I never felt like it was all that bothersome around you, because you could figure out the important things most of the time.” In lieu of making a comment and accidentally getting in the way of Haru’s train of thought, Makoto put a gentle hand on Haru’s knee to try and soothe its incessant bouncing.
“But it is bothersome. It is, because you deserve words. You, of all people, deserve my honesty, even if it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Does that make sense? Am I making any sense?” Before Makoto can think to comment, Haru places the sketchbook in Makoto’s lap and trudges on.
“There are so many things I wish I could’ve told you sooner, but maybe this can be a start.”
Haru finally looks up to see Makoto look over the sketchbook’s cover in awe before meeting his gaze with an unspoken gratitude and warmth that absolutely burns him. Overwhelmed, Haru wheezes out a comment about heading to the bath before quickly making his way out of the room. Makoto gives an exasperated laugh at the whole situation and takes to opening up the sketchbook.
“To Makoto - for every missed apology, compliment, and everything else in between. I appreciate you being there for me. — Haru”
Inside the sketchbook are collages of collective sketches, small notes, and pages cut and ripped out of old books and magazines. Makoto can’t help but be amazed by the amount of thought and care behind each page, even if at first glance some pages look like they’re just random scraps of paper and doodles to the untrained eye. Makoto knows they’re more than that, because he’s holding a tangible copy of Haru’s mind, filled with the stories he’s tried to read for years through his best friend’s pensive silences and ocean eyes.
By the time a still-flustered Haru stops hiding in the bath and goes to rejoin Makoto in the living room, Makoto has tentatively ran his fingers over too many poetry lines highlighted and ripped out of Haru’s grandmother’s old books as well as detailed sketches of his own smile to do anything other than hug Haru fiercely and whisper countless tearful “thank you’s” into the crook of his neck.

Sousuke’s birthday story
Tumblr media
"Sousuke-senpai! Happy birthday!"
Ai and Momo said together, like they had planned it beforehand. Uozumi and Minami, Iwashimizu and Nakakawa, and practically all the underclassmen from Samezuka were here. The room was decorated with lots of colorful decorations and there was a birthday cake sitting in front of me.
"Now come on, Sousuke-senpai, please blow! blow!!"
Momo was impatiently waiting for me to blow out the candles with sparkling eyes. I thought, Geez, It's nothing to get that excited about, but I didn't want to make a big deal about it either so I just blew them out all at once. Then the room filled with applause. These guys really make too big of a deal of things. It's embarrassing.
Ai looked at me as he turned on the lights in the dark room.
"Hehe, it's so unusual to see you in bright colors, Sousuke-senpai!"
"It really suits you! It really makes it seem like it's your birthday!?"
Momo was all excited. He was so happy you'd think it was his birthday.
Then Ai looked like he was thinking of something.
"Could it be that shirt is......"
"Yeah, Rin picked this out for me"
I went shopping all morning once with Rin in Tokyo. If I remember correctly it was the day that we went with Kisumi and the others to the arcade.
Rin said "Hey Sousuke, wouldn't you look good in this sort of light color?" as he stared at me and held out a shirt to me. I told him if he liked it then he should get it for himself and handed it back but he just said "Just believe in me, Sousuke!" and shoved it back at me. We played catch with the shirt for a while but I ended up giving in. And, well, it's not like I hate it so I decided to wear it for today. This morning Kazu-nii said to me "Oh! That's a good color on you Sousuke!" So I guess Rin's choice wasn't so bad. Well, I'll just leave it at that. Ai and Momo nodded like they were really moved by something while looking back and forth between me and my clothes. I was suddenly reminded of when I swam in a medley relay with these guys. When I get better, I wonder what kind of sight I'd see if I swam in a relay with them again. I spaced out while thinking about that.
"Sousuke-san, happy birthday!"
Rei and Nagisa came in excitedly. It became even more crowded in the room. It seems that Nagisa had his birthday party here and so he told me proudly about how he told Ai about this place.
“Sou-chan, happy birthday! The picture you sent me for my birthday was so cute I edited it like this☆"
When I looked at the screen of Nagisa's phone, I was there wearing animal ears with a phrase written in fluorescent colors that I would never say.
"What are you doing?"
My shock just made Nagisa roll on the floor with laughter. After that I talked with Rei about the butterfly stroke and turning. Rei just started swimming not that long ago and he already made it to the nationals. It makes me want to try even harder.
After we finished eating I glanced at my phone and I had a few messages. From Kisumi, Makoto, Gou, and even people from Tokitsu. People really remember my birthday. It made me admire them along with the feelings of gratitude. I got a message from Haru saying "haypi birfdei"* so I sent back "thank you".... Or so I thought, but when I looked at it again later I must have pushed something weird in the predictive text because it says "thank you sir"*.
Ai and Momo badgered me so I took a reluctant commemorative picture. I can't get used to this sort of stuff. It seems Nagisa sent it to Rin and Kisumi. I don't think they'd be that interested in a picture of me but I can't help it now that he's sent it.
On my way home, I stopped in front of a shire I passed by a lot as a kid. It's a place I came a lot with Rin. He's probably practicing again today. Since it's him, on a day like today he might just try to contact me by......
I opened my mailbox when I got back to my house and inside was one piece of airmail.
"When you open the seal it smells like the ocean doesn't it?"
When I picked it up, that's the voice I heard in my head. When I opened the envelope there was a single postcard inside. Written in the message area there was the handwriting I've gotten used to seeing filled with belief and self confidence. It suddenly made me full of nostalgia. Then my phone vibrated. When I looked it was a message from Rin.
When I looked at the words written there, even I could tell that the corner of my mouth turned up. Geez, I'll have to think of something to do for Rin's birthday.
Today was more lively than I expected. Thanks everyone.
*This is really hard to translate but Haru wrote 炭常備オメデト宇 which can be read as tanjoubi omedetou(happy birthday) but it's all the wrong kanji.
*Sousuke wrote ありがとうござる arigatou gozaru(thank you) but gozaru is an old phrase that isn't really used anymore. usually used in samurai speak etc.

Mini Fanfic #820: Watching the Beach's Moonlight (Persona 5 x SSBU)
9:11 p.m. at the Beachside of Isle Defino.......
Lavenza: (Watching the Night Sky While Sitting Next to Morgana on a Bench) Doesn't the stars look fascinating at this time of hour, Mona-Chan?
Morgana: (Smiles Softly While Looking Up at the Sky as Well) Yeah. It does. It's been a while since I've went outside in the nighttime. So I kinda never paid attention to the stars that much. Ooh! Look! (Points at Something at the Beach's Ocean) You see the ocean showing the moon's reflection!
Lavenza: ('GASPS') You're right!~ It's so bright and mesmerizing to the eyes~ (Turns to Morgana With a Bright Smile on Her Face) Thank you so much for showing me this, Mona-Chan~ This is wonderful.
Morgana: (Chuckles Lightly at How Cute the Velvet Girl is Being) It's no problem at all, Lavenza. Really. But um...('Clears Throat') how are you liking the vacation here so far?
Lavenza: I'm enjoying it quite fondly. (Frowns a Little) It's a shame that it will all come to an end tommorow.
Morgana: Yeah. But at least we'll always have memories we made here along the way.
Lavenza: (Happily Nodded in Agreement) That is true. There are so many that I adore already. (Smiles Brightly) I especially enjoyed the "Water Wars" activity we participated in other day.
Morgana: I did too. (Puts on a Bit of An Annoyed Look on his Face) Even if it was annoying for the most part....
Flashback
'SPLASH' 'SPLASH' 'SPLASH'
Morgana: LAVENZAAA! (Immediately Rushes Over to Lavenza's Side) Come on! Speak to me!!
Lavenza: (Slowly Turns to Morgana While Laying Down and Covered in Water) M-Mona...Chan...('Cough') Are you okay?
Morgana: (Tears Starts Falling Down on his Face as He Holds Lavenza's Hand to Dear Life) You don't have keep worrying about me, Lavenza! I'm just fine!
Lavenza: (Giggles Lightly) My apologies......It seems this war has gotten me.....into a worried state....No matter....I do hope....that you do your very best out there.....for...the...both of...us....(Plays Dead)
Morgana: (Eyes Widened in Complete Shock Before Closing Them and Sighing Heavily) Rest easy, my friend. Your sacrifice will not be in vane...(Lowers Lavenza's Hand Down as He Gets Back Up on his Feet) I will destroy every competition we have left and win this stupid war for the both of us! For my name isn't MORGANA OKUMUR-
'SPLASH' 'SPLASH' 'SPLASH'
Without warning, Morgana gets pelted by multi water balloons by none other than Futuba and Omega.
Morgana: (Gets Back Up From the Ground While Glaring at the Duo) Really!? Did you really have to do all of that to me!? Y-You didn't even THINK about giving me a chance to attack or anything!!?
Futuba: (Smiles Brightly and Mischievously) Nope! Bye!~
Omega: (Fleet Away While Futuba's Riding on his Back) So long, tiny, dramatic feline!
Futuba: (Giggles Softly From a Near Distance) Dramatic Feline~
Morgana: (Starts Growling at the Duo in Annoyance)
End of Flashback
Morgana: (Sighs While Pinching his Nose) I swear... Futuba can be a real brat sometimes....
Lavenza: Well, to be fair, you were monologuing long enough for her and Omega-Kun to hit you. And we have gotten ice cream afterwards. So it wasn't all dreadful.
Morgana: ('Sigh') Yeah. It wasn't....The ice cream was delicious....
Lavenza: (Nodded in Agreement) It most certainly was. (Smiles Softly While Blushing a Little) Still, it was very sweet of you to try and avenge me. Even if it was short-lived....
Morgana: (Starts Blushing as Well) Yeah. I-It's no problem....(Smiles a bit Bashfully) I'm...sure you would've done the same for me if I were in that sane situation.
Lavenza: Oh absolutely. I would obliterate anyone who dares try to cause you any harm.
Morgana: I-I don't think the 'Obliterating' part is necessary, but....thanks.
'Sound of Small Waves'
Lavenza: Morgana.
Morgana: (Turns to Lavenza) Yeah?
Lavenza: I'm not sure if I've already told you this yet, but.....(Gives Morgana a Sincere Smile) I would like to thank you very much for being my friend. Your kindness and companionship has always manged to brighten my day. And I am truly grateful for that.
Morgana: (Stares at Lavenza For a Brief Second Before Smiling Softly Himself) You're welcome, Lavenza. (Starts Rubbing the Back of his Head Back & Forth) Heck, If anything...I should be thanking you for being mines to begin with. But regardless....(Smiles Brightly at the Velvet Girl) I'm glad I met someone as amazing as you.
Lavenza: (Heart Begins to Melt in Pure Happiness as She Pulls Him into a Loving Hug) Oh Mona-Chan~ You're amazing too~ And a sweetheart at best~
Morgana: (Starts Giggling While Blushing Some More) W-Well....I-I mean, I-
????: Awwwwwwwww!~
Morgana: (Eyes Widened by the Sudden Sound) Wait. What was that?
Lavenza: Oh my... (Giggles Softly as She Sees Four Very Familiar Face Coming Out Of Their Hiding Spots) It seems we've gotten ourselves some company.
????: Hell yeah you do!~
Morgana: (Starts Groans Once He Recognizes that Feminine Voice) I noticed....(Turns Around and Sees Futuba, Haru, Sae, and Omega Smirking Playfully at Him and Lavenza) WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE DOING HERE!?
Futuba: (Playfully Shrugs) Oh no reason!~
Sae: We just wanted to make sure you two are having a wonderful night together~
Haru: (Smiles Brightly at the Young Duo) It warms our hearts that you care so much for one another~
Omega: While I am not interested in anything romantic related....(Gives Morgana and Lavenza a Thumbs Up With a Smile on his Face) I do, however, ship the two of you together as well.
Futuba: See? (Place her Arm Around Omega's Shoulder) Even the big guy gets it.
Morgana: (Sighs Heavily While Facepalming Himself a) Why are you people like this?....
Haru: Because we love you with all our hearts.
Futuba: Plus, you're stuck with us forever. Sooooooo-
Morgana: Yeah. Yeah. I know.....I love you guys too.
Lavenza: (Turns to Morgana) You know, you've never gotten the chance to tell me what "Shipping" means.
Morgana: Yeah. I uh....(Chuckles a bit Awkwardly) Keep forgetting to do that really.....
Futuba: I can tell you what it means!~
Morgana: (Immediately Glares at Futuba) Not a chance, Sakura!! I can tell her about that on my own time thank you very much!
Futuba: (Smirk Grew a Bit Wider) You sure you're capable of doing that, kitty-bro?~ Cause it kinda seems like you're stalling to me.
Morgana: Betcha you're wrong.
Futuba: Betcha I'm right.
Morgana: Betcha you're a gremlin.
Futuba: Betcha you're a goody two shoes!
Morgana: WELL, EXCUSE ME FOR WANTING TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE!!
Sae: Children. Children! As much as I would love hear more if this pointless banter from one another, I believe it's time for all of us go back inside now.
Haru: Sae's right. It's already getting dark enough as it is.
Omega: Let us proceed back to the house!
Futuba: (Nodded) Right. (Turns to Morgana and Lavenza) You kiddos ready to head in now?
Morgana: ('Sigh') Yeah. We're ready. (Turns to Lavenza) Unless you wanna stay here a little longer or.....
Lavenza: Oh I'm quite already, Mona-Chan. (Smiles Brightly) I'm already having a great time tonight thanks your company~
Morgana: (Smiles Back) I'm glad you're having a good time.
And with that, the group finally make their way back to the house. Awaiting their departing of Isle Defino tomorrow.

Is this where I belong (The furthest I could have gone)
here take a story where Childe saves a child and has complex emotions about the world (and Lumine)
Become your shield whenever you fall asleep
The Sounds of the ocean mix with the breathing winds sang in childe ears. Most times, he will enjoy the embrace of this smoothing sound, right now on the other hand, it was the last thing on his mind.
He was crotch down, his right hand letting his head rest as he watched a pair of small hands dig in the sand. He looks up at their head, a pair of dark orange ears to match their dark orange hair. He has never seen a child with such big fox ears. Are they fox ears? They are in the shape of ones.
"Hey, little one, are you here alone?" In all honesty he sounded like a creep but it's a necessary question seeing that there’s no one around her and for a few miles.
"Did you get lost?"
The small child (that looks no older than 10) looked up at him, her big ears twitch curiously before going back to playing in the sand. Childe sighs, getting no response from the kid again. they either were taught to not talk to strangers ( even if they were left in a deserted and very dangerous place) or they just...don't want to talk to him. She couldn't be mute since he heard her hum to herself.
And she can't be deaf seeing she turned to him every time he talks, She just doesn't respond.
Hmm, what can he do?
He closed his eyes, "Hmm, you're more difficult then Ojou-chan" he can feel his chest become tight from his mindless thinking, though he chooses to ignore it.
"Ojou-chan?" He opens one deep blue eye and see the girl staring at him with interest, she even got closer to him. he chuckled, how cute
"so now you're listening to me, hmm? Why is that?"
The girl shrugs, scooching close to Childe.
"Who's Ojou-chan?".
"Who's Ojou-chan?" He said enthusiastically.
He gets up and hoists her up along with an oof, she doesn't complain, grabbing on to his shoulder as he places her on his side.
"Well she is one of the greatest adventurers of all time and mondstadt’s very own hero! She's a boundless fighter, a Beauty no flower or jewelry can compete! She has the brightest eyes, bright then the sun itself- add her smile and she is blinding. She has the sweetest delightful voice even when she tries to fill it with bitterness. " Each word that comes out of his mouth becomes more soft as he drifts off, thinking of his Ojou-chan.
The girl tucks on his hair 'ow' "Do you like Ojou-chan, mister?" Eh? Was he getting off track? He can feel his cheeks heat up just a little bit.
"O-oh well who doesn't? You like her too if you heard all of her adventures" her dull orange eyes watch him carefully, he notices how her tiny hands hold on to him loosely, ready to let go at any time. He holds her a bit close and tighter, not wanting her to fall for the lack of secure hold on her end.
"Little one, what's your name?".
"...Haru".
"Haru! A pretty name for a pretty girl" she was lovely, her unique ears make her seem smaller than she already is, but she was also a mess. Her dress was tearing, ripped at the ends with likely (hopefully) dirt stains, along with her stockings, ripped on the knees with fresh bruises and scars; Her long Jasper hair entangled at the ends. He can guess from her disarray, the location she is in and her cautiousness to him, that something tragic had happened. Perhaps her family met a cruel fate and that's why she isn't telling him anything.
Childe eyes, rather than filled with worry or heartache, were lifeless and dull.
How cruel and unjust this world is to leave a child- alone and abandon, miles from any breath or soul of a human- to defend themselves with their tiny hands and nothing more. Another day and for all he knows, she would have been painfully gone as well.
"Mister?"
Childe turns to her, if he haven't found her at the edge of the ocean water, playing with the wet sand, how would the world filled with Gods, chosen her fate? And can he really say much about this when his actions and being a part of the Fatui, could cause the same fate for others when he willingly chooses to look away.
He gently pushes her hair to the side, seeing her own eyes that lack the same light as his.
"Haru-chan, have you ever been to Liyue?" he gives a soft smile, to reason with her worries, she shakes her head.
"It's a beautiful place, I think you'll like it and it has some of the best food you'll ever tasted!"
"Do you want to go with me?"
Haru hesitated to answer and even lets go of his shoulder, though this was only for a second as she firmly grabbed him once more, with more force than before.
"Ok"
It was a simple answer, nothing dramatic, no tears or overwhelming happiness but, with her grip on his shoulders that was not there moments before, he knew he crossed a bridge.
Although the light of his eyes will never return for him, he doesn't want another to be meant with the same fate.
"It's a bit far from here Haru-chan, so to pass the time let me tell you stories of Ojou-chan and her great adventures!" Haru nodded while Childe started walking towards the roads.
The whole time they walk Childe talks endlessly about Ojou-chan, distracting them from their long journey to Liyue. He talks about her biggest adventures in Mondstadt’s, helping a dragon and saving the city; her long travel to Liyue, helping the people along the way.
Haru gets more excited every story he tells but how can she not? The person telling the story has as much enthusiasm as the last story he tells and he doesn't seem to be getting tired of it. Haru on the other hand, can barely keep her eyes open as another hour passes. Childe continued with his stories not noticing the child's tiredness. During all these storytelling Haru noticed something that perhaps Childe doesn't realize himself.
"Pretty…"
"Hmm?"
How beaming his face becomes when talking about Ojou-chan.
"Aww, are you talking about me?" Childe cheerfully chuckles, noticing the child barely keeping their big eyes open. He pats Haru's head just as she yawns, laying her head on his shoulder.
"Mm-hm" she doesn't have the energy to respond with words anymore, falling asleep to the gentle sounds of the wind and the shining of the sunset.

The erroneous impression of a resplendent fractioned Proteus
Future fish AU but slightly altered
1653 words
Yamazaki Sousuke, Matsuoka Rin, Tatchibana Makoto, Hazuki Nagisa +
SouHaru
SFW
Intro | Chapter 1 | Chapter 2
July had started in a frenzy. The heat was terrible and even though Sousuke's business was slowly picking up, the pace was probably a little more than what he'd like to put up with for the time being.
Sousuke was running a fishing and diving store in the town of Iwatobi. Actually, the only store to be exact.
He was merchandising nets and small parts for fishing boats, paints for the ships and was also giving diving lessons to anyone who wanted to learn or provided sea tours for the few tourists who ended up in these somewhat far shores of japan. Most of those tourists, were actually coming here after listening about the disasters of the previous year and falling in love with the amazing seascape from the pictures that were projected through the news. Their numbers increasing exponentially as of late.
Generally, if it had to do with Iwatobis’ waters and ocean bed and the old lores surrounding it, or there was a need for a guide to tour the arrestingly beautiful but dangerous rocky scenery, Yamazaki Sousuke was your man. This was common knowledge around these parts.
And so, he desperately needed another pair of hands around; someone he could trust with the costumers. And preferably, someone that wouldn't burn down the place in one go.
Thankfully, he still had some free time during lunch and so he could catch a breath over small talk with a friend every now and then. Currently this was one of these moments, said friend being Rin that had graciously brought donuts to go with the coffee Sousuke usually offers.
"You know just the day before yesterday that weird guy, that works at the laboratory– the one just down the road—" Sousuke motioned, picking up a delicacy with green tea-frosting on.
"Oh! You mean Rei!" Rin exclaimed.
"Yeah, that guy— so, he comes here, ok; and I'm thinking 'alright, maybe he needs something from the store for those weird experiments he's conducting from time to time. No big deal.' And the man just straight out asks the most bizarre question ever." He says in between bites.
"Ever; like what? Your horoscope?" Rin laughs.
"That's not weird man— actually, Hazuki asked me that a while back." Sousuke retorted with a straight face.
But Rin almost choke on his coffee; spraying most of it over Sousuke and the donut he was eating.
No. That wasn't out of character at all, he thought while coughing, still out of breath. It was so ironic that it was very much possible.
Sousuke wiped down his face with his hand and threw the donut to the trash can next to him. Then, pulling out a paper tissue from a nearby box, he wiped his hands and said: "Thanks; coffee bath was what I needed."
"Well, sorry but that was really unexpected. Don't just go on and say stuff like that with this face. I almost choked here! Jeez—" Rin said around an indignant huff.
Sousuke regarded him unamused for a bit and continued; "Well, anyway— so, he comes in and asks me right out of the blue, whether I'm familiar with someone."
"What; just like that? That is odd." Rin bugged his eyes out and put a finger under his lips in a show of exaggerated bafflement.
"Yeah, thanks! So he comes here and asks me if I knew Nanase Haruka; I mean what the— what?" He asks, pausing midway his narration after noticing the others’ expression.
Rin has a scowl on his face and the look in his eyes is full of plain disapproval.
"What!" Sousuke asks again, impatiently.
"… I can't believe you, man." Rin says, "You knew Haru, didn't you? He was the chef at that pastry store that—"
"Yeah, I know who he is. So what? What does that have anything to do with asking me, though?" Sousuke cut him off, "I don't get it, Rin!"
Rin stared at him for a few good seconds, measuring him. He finally said: "Sousuke, have you forgotten about Haru? It's only natural that he'd ask about him…"
Sousuke looked at Rin; he seemed genuinely confused. "Why?" He said.
Rin fixed a disbelieving stare at him, before he answered: "You do remember that the memorial of the 'great disaster', was just this week, right?"
"Yeah. So?" He retorted. Still looking clueless.
"So the one third of the towns' men were killed that day!" Rin replied; angry.
Sousuke kept looking at him like an idiot, unable to connect the dots.
So Rin had to spell it out for him, huh?
"Haru went missing that day, too!" Rin yelled at him.
Sousukes' eyes flickered wildly. "Now, hold on!' He said throwing his arms open, "We don't know that for sure. Besides, every single one of the missing were fishermen. He simply doesn't add up, Rin. Plus— We found all the others bodies, but we never found his!"
Rin narrowed his eyes but he was composed and his voice level, as he said: "No. You never found him."
An open accusation—
"What— what's that supposed to mean? Are you implying that I screwed up in the search? Because I wasn't looking alone—" The towering man tried to defend himself; index finger tapping down on the worn, narrow desk as if to point out something there but...
The redhead cut him off with: "Never said that; but you were the only one that searched the caves and the water. No one else had a boat that worked at that time…"
"Now wait a second! I looked up everywhere! I treated them all equally! I even went the extra mile and dove to the caves to search for him as you had suggested, Rin!" Sousuke exclaimed, irritated – something that didn’t happen too often.
"That's because he wasn't in the town for at least a couple hours before the storm and Makoto said he was going to the caves from time to time to calm down or whatever…" He explained calmly, bowing his head.
Sousuke furrowed his brows at his friend. Looking at Rin like that, he felt cornered. Both guilty and betrayed. And right out powerless. "So you send me out there based on what Tachibana told you? Then it's even more possible that he just up and left. He did appeared out of nowhere in this town after all. He could have just leave—"
"You were also out of town…" Rin’s firm voice echoed sharp throughout the small back-office.
These words rang as clear and heavy as the howling sirens of the towns’ port in Sousuke's’ mind —
"What?" He manage, his lips taut in a grim line.
"When we got the report at the station, about fifteen minutes before the storm; I came here to ask you to prepare a rescue boat. You weren't here; the shop was closed and the only one to have seen you was Mizumi as you left it, approximately two hours prior to the event— just at the time that Haru was last seen. I'm not implying anything but… where have you been those two hours, Sousuke?" Rin slowly looked up again; piercing empty and far away teal eyes with his own unwavering ones – that spoke volumes of his concerns for his friend but also how full of determination he truly was – in an attempt to salvage the whole truth.
"Heh— 'you're not implying anything'. Is that so?" He scoffed bitterly.

At that moment in the fire station at the outskirts of the small fish town.
"Ne, ne, Mako-chan, will you come with me and Rei-chan to the beach this afternoon?" A gleeful voice bubbled in the air in the kitchen of the station.
"Eh? Ah— I'm sorry but there are some things I have to take care of today. Maybe tomorrow?" Makoto said sweetly with a smile, closing the fridge; a carton of milk in his hand.
"Eeeh~ all you say these days is that you have things to take care of, Mako-chaaan. You promised that we'd go swimming when the weather got better and the weather is supper these days but you're still saying 'no'! Are you avoiding me? Ah! Could it be you're avoiding Rei-chan?! If so then that's not a good thing to—" The energetic blonde was furrowing and puffing his cheeks at him, but—
"N–no! I'm not avoiding either one of you! I just had something that came up this week and I can't go right now, ok? Nagisa?" He said and his voice sweetened just a bit.
Still, Nagisa was too perceptive for Makoto's good.
He tilted his head as he looked at him with a quizzical stare. He said: "You know Mako-chan, lately you seem very happy for some reason… Ah! I know! Mako-chan, you got a girlfriend!" He beamed; a gleam of triumph sparkling in his eyes.
He was so loud, that all the firemen in this room turned to look at them with awe and those in the next came running in, not knowing what had happened.
"No! Shh—" Makoto attempt, blushing furiously; ready to explode.
'Mako-chan… he was hiding something though. For days now!' Nagisa thought, looking up at his relaxed disposition. Something that made this whole ordeal worth it. Something that made him, happy.
"Say, Mako-chan— if it's not a girlfriend, then why are you so happy these past few days?" Nagisa asked him quietly.
Maybe it was the way he said it, because Makoto froze. He turned surprised to face Nagisa and after a long moment, his face morphed again, a small but gentle smile curving the line of his lips. "Actually," he started, "I found something I thought I had lost forever…" He said and his eyes moved with overwhelming emotion.
"Eh? Found— something lost?" Nagisa repeated questioningly, eyes wide in wonder.
"Hm," Makoto nodded. "You see— I found it on Monday, as I got home from work…"
