a cup of warm tea. (r-18!)

characters: joshua/jisoo, mingyu (seventeen) summary: what would happen if two of the most powerful yakuza personalities meet for a cup of warm tea? word count: 1,411 genre: bxb, smut content warning: use of aphrodisiacs, semi-public sex, mentions of organized crime. inspiration: their photoshoot for spur magazine (oct. 2020)

The air was palpable, thick — so much so that Mingyu can pull the dagger from the sheath strapped around his thigh and cut through it. Nervous, dangerous adrenaline racks through his body as he sits in that fateful chair, across that fateful person — Hong Jisoo.

Not that Jisoo was Mingyu's crush. Rather, he was an enemy — a rival.

Both Jisoo and Mingyu are the leaders of the largest yakuza clans in Tokyo. Both have certain districts of the city wrapped around the barrels of their guns and the knuckles of their fists. Both are also the strongest and most powerful men of the Underground.

But perhaps, as all those crappy action films say, there can only be one that rules the city. Their circles are closing in and they just cannot tiptoe around each other for far too long. This needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Or at least Mingyu thought so.

It seems like Jisoo thought so as well — they really needed to settle this territory matter once and for all now. Mingyu assumes, if the blatant inviting of him by the paler, smaller yakuza boss to a tea date is anything to go by.

A ceramic teapot and dainty glass teacups with earl grey tea laid across the coffee table, steaming with heat. The entire room was reminiscent of a tea room decorated for royalty as well — perhaps Jisoo likes the more refined Japanese aesthetic, in contrast with the rough and ragged blacks and reds that the underground is known for.

Nonetheless, Mingyu indulges himself to a small sip from the teacup and revels in its warmth. It's much milder than the coffees that Seungkwan feeds him, but not unwelcome to the palette. Mingyu took the tiniest sip — he'd seen his fair share of poisonings after all, and he was not keen on following down the path of death like them. However, the warmth drew him to gulp more of the warm liquid. That very same warmth spread through his body, from his chest all the way to his fingers, and toes — and down south.

"What've you fed me, Hong?" Mingyu asked, gasping as he tugged on his suit's collar, attempting to relieve the warmth that has morphed into scorching heat. "Have you poisoned me?"

"Oh no, Kim." Jisoo smiled in a kittenish manner, dainty finger tracing the rim of the cup Mingyu drank from. "If I had poisoned you, you would've fallen flat on the floor already. I merely... gave you a little stimulant." the other yakuza boss then stalked over to the feverish Mingyu.

"A beautiful face and a god-like body like yours shouldn't be taken by Death, Mingyu. At least, not before I've had a taste for myself."

Mingyu's hand jolted up, thick and calloused fingers gripping Jisoo's wrist, the other's fingers resting gently against the former's tan skin that seemed to shine with the light sheen of sweat he's producing. "A taste, huh." Mingyu chuckled lightly, unbuttoning his blazer to reveal the rest of his skin to Jisoo's hungry eyes.

Mingyu never saw Jisoo in this way before. Under the warm yellow lights, Jisoo looked ephemeral — full lips, a button nose and expressive eyes that oozed with the want he's having for Mingyu, or at least Mingyu's body. Jisoo's body was not too bad as well, broad shoulders and a tiny waist that Mingyu can grip and leave bruises on, a small indication of the night they would share together.

Despite the halfway stripping that Mingyu had done, Jisoo kept still, merely watching as Mingyu alleviated the heat a tiny bit. The younger snarled at the lack of interaction and so, he pulled Jisoo down and slammed his lips against his. Jisoo merely chuckled as Mingyu tried to take the simple kiss further, licking against the seam of the older's lips to gain access.

"Down, boy," Jisoo chuckled lightly, his free hand pushing himself away from the other, Mingyu chasing him.

Slowly, Jisoo threw a leg over Mingyu's lap, slowly sinking to straddle him. His hands guided Mingyu's to lay against his hips, encouraging him to grip as his own arms laid on Mingyu's shoulders.

"There's no need to rush, Kim. Time is with us." Jisoo grinned, all cheshire-like as he ground his crotch against Mingyu's. Soft purrs fall from his lips, and Mingyu is struck with the urge to hear more of that sinful yet heavenly sound.

Not too long after, Mingyu's hips met Jisoo's halfway. Leisurely, clothes began falling away from their bodies one by one, Jisoo's deft hands tracing every ridge on Mingyu's sculptured body, every scar that laid across his skin. He is truly a man of unadulterated violence. But tonight, he can be a man of unadulterated lust — if his feverish core and hard crotch is anything to go by. Mingyu, on the other hand, caressed Jisoo's toned, smooth stomach and the area around his hips, the only place in this violent world where Mingyu's hands feel like they belong. His thighs are toned as well, Mingyu feeling the strong muscle as he squeezed it — toned by the many nights of chasing and running away and into chaos.

But there's no place for violence here, Mingyu muses as Jisoo finally sheathed Mingyu's length into his warm, wet hole. No place for violent thoughts, no place of competition here. Right here, right now, with Jisoo bouncing on his lap, letting out wanton moans of pleasure as the length inside him pulsated and grew in girth — violence has no place here. Maybe save for the men guarding the entrance, eyes hidden by sunglasses trained forward. Maybe they're craving to be in Mingyu's position right now, their lengths buried inside Jisoo, giving their boss pleasure beyond his wildest dreams.

This thought struck a nerve inside Mingyu. He's the one here with Jisoo, the one here to worship Jisoo's perfect body. Not the guards, not other bosses, no other one but Mingyu. With this, Mingyu's grip on Jisoo's hips tightened, his mind reeling as he pulled the older down on his member. Jisoo shrieked, being hit spot on with the head of the length. Jisoo rested his forehead on Mingyu's shoulder as Mingyu began pounding into him from the bottom up. His moans grew more wanton, more weak and intoxicated — as if sex-drunk.

This little tea room must reek of their pheromones by now, but Mingyu likes it that way. Whenever Jisoo has a contact coming in through those doors, the room would exude of Mingyu, of this sinful intercourse they're partaking in. The act continues, leaving the both of them in a sheen of sweat, hair sticking to their temples as Mingyu shoved all of the objects on the table away, laying Jisoo on it as he thrusted into the older properly.

The warmth of his walls were clenching and unclenching, and soon enough, they were suffocating his length. "Cum inside, Mingyu-kun," Jisoo purred in a salacious manner, hands caressing the younger's arms that are flexed, muscles bulging out. And with that simple word from the generally put together Jisoo, Mingyu falls apart. His seed painted Jisoo's walls white, some of it shooting right against his spot. With this, Jisoo reaches his climax as well, staining his red silk undershirt and Mingyu's bare abdomen.

Breathlessly, Jisoo giggled, fingers raking through his soft black hair. "Enemies make for some hot and dangerous sex, but I'd much rather have sex with a comrade. What do you say, Kim Mingyu?"

"What are you implying, Hong?" Mingyu's eyebrows furrowed, pulling out of Jisoo and watching mindlessly as his seed drips from Jisoo's fluttering hole and on to the floor.

"For a yakuza boss, you really are not that perceptive." Jisoo chuckled, sitting up on his table. "I'm proposing for our families to come together. For us to be a unified yakuza family. We'll rule the entire Japanese scene, hm? And not to mention, we'll be meeting more and more, not as enemies but as partners-in-crime. So?" the older tilts his head ever so slightly and Mingyu is enraptured.

Like this, Jisoo is the picture of seduction. His eyes were hazy with bliss, lips slicked with a mixture of his and Mingyu's spit, body sparkling with sweat under the yellow lights and legs spread wide enough for Mingyu to occupy — Mingyu's rather rational brain must have short-circuited already. It must have, judging by the words that spill from his lips.

"Alright, I'll take your offer, Hong Jisoo."

2020 Oct 10 -Lucid Dream: The Last Push to Make Sindria's Prophet

*It's my birthday, so I'm adding another chapter to the Adventures of Simpbad :D

*I have been lucid dreaming since around the age of 6. I keep a dream diary and draw parts. Sometimes I like what happens in my dreams so much that I use it in my stories; that's why I go by "Mori's Lucid Stories" for my original work.

*I have had several dreams involving Magi so I've decided to add them to the Adventures of Simpbad Collection :3 The art will mainly be edited photos of what I put in my dream diary. I will draw things digitally if I didn't end up drawing anything traditionally.

*This dream happened when I hit the first road block in writing Sindria's Prophet and was the push I needed to fix it and what lead me to choose to post Sindria's Prophet online :3 Also, I didn't think I would be posting this dream when I started drawing it, so the first half isn't as well drawn as the last few pages.

*The original versions of this are still up on Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter. This version has a novel version of the dream added, and cleaned up art of the original photos of the pages.

*I did rewrite a bit of the text in the images, but please let me know if there's any part that still isn't legible. Also so everyone knows, all of the purple and pink was done with colored ink traditionally, so I tried to keep that feel with the edits.

~POV Mori~ I was having an anime convention dream. I get those fairly often since cons are some of the most liberating experiences I've had. I had finally accepted that I had been hyper fixating on Sinbad for the past 5 years. I had tried my hand at writing fics but most stayed as concepts and drafts. I decided to try writing my first self insert Isekai, and had hit a road block. Thinking so much about an anime/manga was probably why I was having an anime convention dream.

I passed by a manga seller and decide to take a look. The only official English translation of The Adventures of Sinbad was a short run the first few volumes in Singapore. But here in this dream someone was selling official English versions of every volume. It didn't matter if this was a dream, I was going to buy them!

Having successfully made my dream purchase, I wanted to go somewhere I could sit down and read them. As I was about to leave, a familiar color palette appeared in my peripheral vision. King Sinbad was standing by the same bookshelf I was just at!

I knew he was tall, but it's different seeing him in person. Even with all of my fixating on him, Sinbad had yet to appear in my dreams. He was right there though! 100000% That was Sinbad! But this was a convention dream. He could be a cosplayer and not the real deal. The line often gets blurred in my dreams so did it even matter?

Two gold eyes turned towards me and I ran for the cover of another bookshelf. He was gorgeous in person and my heart could not handle it! Who knows what would have happened if I actually talked to him?!

'But this is my dream!! There's no reason for me to run away.' This dream has no signs of becoming a nightmare, so I could still change or remove anything I didn't like. Sinbad would never be able to hurt me in a dream unless I let him. 'I have been under a lot of stress recently though...'

It was worth some risk, but not a big risk. I took out my phone and used the zoom function of the camera to get a closer look at him without having to get close enough to risk him talking to me. That was something I didn't think I could handle yet. I also didn't know how long I could handle being around him so I sneakily made my way to the exit like I originally planned. As I got close, the gold eye in my phone screen made contact with me, and Sinbad smirked. 'ABORT!' I ran the rest of the way out.

That was more than enough Sinbad for me, thanx. I was no longer used to experiencing any form of attraction, and it had become a bit of a trigger honestly. Liking someone could always be used against me. My ex fiance made sure I'd learn that lesson....

This was a good dream so far, so I would not dwell on such things!!! There was a whole rest of a dream con to explore. I could go to more venders for impossible finds, or a panel, or watch cosplayers or stalk Sinbad Watching cosplayers, it is!

--- I find that the dealers room is one of the best places for spotting cosplayers, so guess where I went back to?

Cosplay is always really cool regardless of skill level or accuracy. It shows passion and love for a story. And some can be very creative in taking characters into different styles. In this dream there was a crossover cosplay of someone dressed as Inuyasha, but done in the style of Hollow!Ichigo from bleach. They even had on white body paint, and contacts that made their corneas black. Given how full demon mode Inuyasha was, the idea of a hollow version was scary, and rad as hell. His claw attack would be devastating- And he was destroying the venders with the exact attack I was just thinking about! The cosplayer was no longer a cosplayer! This is the part of lucid dreaming that isn't always the greatest. I thought too hard about something and it became a real problem.

I yelled at my mistake, "Stop that right now!!"

To which the once cosplayer yelled back, "This is a dream! I do what I want!" And what he wanted was murder.

The audacity! "This is my dream! Step off!"

He attacked me! "You can't tell me what to do!"

I dodged it, and I was done playing. "Yeah, no." If diplomacy wasn't going to work then there was no reason to keep him in my dream. "If you're going to be violent, you can go. This whole part of the con can go." Sometimes it's easier to get rid of the whole area than just one person since the area can hold onto the emotions and make the same type of thing keep happening. If I don't nip it in the bud it could become a nightmare or night terror, and God knows I've had more than my fair share of those.

The entire room got cleared into a white void. There was a floor and walls where doors into the room were, but everything else was gone. My emotions returned to normal too. This empty room was still attached to the rest of the dream world, so convention goers started walking in and getting confused about the missing dealers' room. Creating a new place for venders would only risk things going violent again. I made comfy chairs and cushions for people to rest on while I figured out what to do with the cleared space.

--- My safest bet was to change the genre so I could have a different type of environment. It had been a while since I had a fun adventure dream. To keep it from going potentially violent again I made it like a play ground or obstacle course instead of an actual place with real danger. I grew up during the PS2 era of games so beaches and platforming like in Kingdom Hearts, Jak&Daxter, and Ratchet and Clank are hugely nostalgic, and have become symbols of safety and fun for me. And so I made a beach with an obstacle course, platforming, and a fake broken ship. And of course, with a change of scenery comes a costume change. I went for something that was a mix of dance clothes and reenactment clothes from when I was in a reenactment pirate band -there was fake broken pirate ship here after all. (I decided it was a pirate ship because that seemed more fun.)

There was a cuddle puddle of three people in one of the chairs I made. I left the manga I bought with them, telling them, "Guard this manga with your life!" before heading out to the obstacle course I had made.

As I gave them a two fingered salute, I noticed that a familiar purple haired King was standing behind them. Everything inside me knew it was the same Sinbad from earlier and, that like the Inuyasha cosplayer becoming real, this Sinbad was real. Those metal vessels weren't only for show. What's more was I was not emotionally ready for coping with feeling attraction and fear at the same time again.

So I jumped down onto the sandy platforms below.

I made dream versions of my some of my friends appear. Hopefully, they would be enough of a distraction to make the Sinbad vanish. I ended up summoning art friends from highschool and college though, so they refused to explore with me. Instead, they actively reminded me who had shown up. "If you don't get running, he's gonna catch up."

Sinbad jumped down onto the starting platform and I bolted down the obstacle course. It was clear that my subconscious wanted me to face this; even if I changed the dream Sinbad would appear again. I had two options: face Sinbad and my fear of my own feelings of attraction, or turn the dream off into nothingness. Ahead of me, the platforms were leading to the ruined pirate ship; the next part would be inside it. And like a video game, the water around us meant death.

Sinbad calling behind me, gave me my answer. I jumped into the water.

--- The dream above the surface couldn't reach me here. It was quiet and calm. I could drift there forever if I wanted to -or at least until I woke up. As the feeling of safety washed over me, I started feeling bored. I had made a whole puzzle plaformer and I didn't even get to go through it! I had been in the nothing for a while; maybe Sinbad was gone.

There was no way I'd be that lucky. If nothing else, I could come up far enough away to have a chance to brace myself before he reaches me. I swam to the edge of an area further down the course. When I breached the surface of the water, I tried to will myself out faster than I could climb up. Two hands reached down to help pull me onto land. 'Who was I trying to fool...?' Of course, Sinbad would appear as soon as I returned.

He smiled down at me as I was finally standing on land again. "There you go."

"I could have gotten out on my own." Gosh, even to my own ears I sounded like a tsundere. This was the best I could do with my trust issues, huh? Dreams make emotional regulation harder too.

Sinbad's smile didn't waver. "Of course." In fact, he looked amused.

I grumbled, accepted my fate and sat down with my legs hanging over the edge. Looking at the water from here, it was obvious that I wouldn't have been able to reach high enough to pull myself out of the water on my own. If my subconscious was this determined to make this interaction happen then it was something I really needed to work through.

Sinbad walked over to where I sat down. "You're done running away?"

"I guess."

He sat down next to me, and crossed his legs and his arms. "So why were you avoiding me all this time?" He didn't look at me directly, and kept his smile.

I watched the water in front of us. "I'm scared of the things I like hurting me because I like them."

"Are you scared of me sitting here?"

"I'm not running right now, am I?" I wasn't scared of Sinbad. He was non-violent unless there were no other options, so he'd never have a reason to hurt me.

The King's voice was boisterous, "That's great news!"

I smiled at myself. "I guess I am doing a bit better." That gave me back some confidence. My smile broadened, and I made of show of shrugging as I continued, "I do still have plenty of reasons to be scared that you're close. You're also a greedy, egotistical, over powered asshole who has killed a lot of people -not to mention manga spoilers." The man was a walking death machine when he wanted to be, especially towards the ends of both mangas in the series.

"-Ah," was all he said in response. Sinbad was always the type to refrain from commenting when he couldn't deny the truth.

Now that I was thinking about the situation instead of panicking I was realizing some things. "I'm pretty curious on why you're talking to me." Flirting with con goers would probably be more in character.

He finally looked at me. "Why don't you tell me since you know me so well?" His eyes sparkled with interest and curiosity.

'Smarmy piece of- how dare he be this pretty! Fine!' My thoughts got stuck on his face for a moment since I was finally looking at him too. I thought about his question. Sinbad was power hungry by the time he became a king. And he had a growing god complex. And he actively sought out the strongest people in the world like the Aladdin, David, and Arba.

'Oh...' I had basically just erased and remade part of the world in front of him. That was why he hadn't followed after me when I first saw him; I wasn't anything special yet. 'My subconscious couldn't make him want to talk to me for nice reasons?'

I sighed. "I might like you but," that was obvious and I wouldn't deny it, "I'm not going to help you do whatever you want. I just didn't want violence in this dream." Now that I knew what was going on, I needed to set my boundaries.

Sinbad hummed, and looked out at the water. "I understand." After a moment he added, "We both prefer peace. It's a start."

That made me laugh. "You really don't quit, do you?"

Sinbad continued the good mood with flirting. "I got to make a pretty girl laugh so it's been a good day."

I gifted him another chuckle for the sentiment behind his words. I'm gender fluid, so not always a girl/woman, but I didn't think he'd understand that even if I explained. This wasn't the time to be pedantic. I was more interested in enjoying the improved mood.

We continued to talk in that light hearted manor about a handful of things. It was a bit of necessary self reflection involving my fears. It was okay for me to feel attraction, even if I wasn't ready for any of the steps that come afterwards. Maybe Sinbad was perfect for me in that way. In the whole series he never falls in love or gets married, and in that moment what I needed to feel safe was knowing that flirting was all it would ever be. I could enjoy feelings of attraction without the fear of being betrayed later because Sinbad would never promise himself to anyone.

Hi! I saw your post about Timothée's photoshoots and I'm curious on which one are your favorites, he does have some awesome photoshoots.

oh, there are so many great ones, but my favorite right now is the new oct 2022 one from vogue uk in black and white. i really want a copy of that one!!

my other favorites are probably the nov 2020 one for gq, the oct-nov 2021 one for time, mar-apr 2020 one for dazed china, and nov 2019 one with saoirse for entertainment weekly. oh, and the fall/winter 2020 one for document journal! i'm really eyeing the gq one because i loveee outdoor photoshoots. i like off-beat styling and bold colors, too, so i was really pleased when i first started looking at the shoots he's done.

his shoot with saoirse was one of the first i saw, and it has such a soft and balanced color palette, and the styling is so gorgeous, so i had to buy a copy lol

i'm still pretty new to timothée's work, so i'm still not aware of every shoot/interview. which ones are your favorites?

Brutalism Research

architectural style with an emphasis on materials, textures and construction, producing highly expressive forms.

First seen in work by Le Corbusier in the late 1940s with the Unité d'Habitation in Marseille

it was architectural historian, Reyner Banham’s review in 1955 of Alison and Peter Smithson’s school at Hunstanton in Norfolk, with its approach to the display of the steel and brick structure that established the movement.

Features of Brutalist architecture include - rough surfaces, massive forms, unusual shapes and expression of structure, lack of ornamentation, and monochromatic palette, and simple graphic lines

The style is both popular and unpopular

The style began to fade out in the 1980s when it became known as cold, alienating and unfit for humans

Concrete had an allure of indestructibility but deteriorated from the inside

Brutalist buildings tend to be now neglected and covered in graffiti

The love of brutalist architecture in the Soviet Union meant that the style began to be associated with totalitarianism

[Gore] FNAF - Local unknown engineer gets maimed after working overtime.

If you thought my last post was gorey, they you've got a big storm coming. Lots of gore. Badly drawn intestines (it's 9 pm and I'm a programming student) and semi-acurately coloured but not at all properly textured blood. °•°•°•°•°•°•°•° So, my last drawing wasn't gorey enough. That's fine. Just means that I'll be trying again. This time, it's time to introduce everyone to R&D robotics. The other robotics firm in my AU based off the FNAF AR emails. I rushed to finish them both, and I've not finished them both yet. Art takes time and I have very little of it at the moment. Not to mention this was done in one night. The other might be done soon though. If I feel like it. No promises though. Aside from me deciding that Tristan is Daniel Rocha's brother (my AU my rules), I had no other colours in his design. He's a blonde with yellow eyes and that was it, but I managed to colour palette together his uniform/work shirt. So... Yay...? The other drawing I was trying to do actually included mangle to show the context, but I was running into the same problems as my last attempt at this prompt, which were that the focus charaters was so small that the gore would be un-noticable, so I decided to double down and focus on this one, as the guts are actually visible and the break around the eye socket is also visible in this one. Now, the context that you need: Note: np - not pictured, i.e. shown in the other drawing I was working on but not in this one. You know how FNAF AR had those circus animatronics? Tristan stayed overtime to finish making magician Mangle (np), and just as he completed the modifications to the animatronic, it turned on him and attacked him, tearing a chunk of skin from around his mouth as well as using its and saw to leave multiple wounds, the majority of which are in groups of three, across his body, on top of breaking one of his legs (np). More notably, there was a large gash in his torso, leaving his internal organs exposed. This should have killed him, but he was found alive and in some kind of trance. It is assumed that this trance is what was and is keeping him alive. Since being found in the early hours of the morning, he had closed his eyes but continued to breathe. Dispite being in a more stable condition, he is completely comatose.

Welcome Pam Ferworn (@pamferwornart) to the Square Foot Show in Autumn Oct 6-8! Pam is a Speech Language Pathologist turned artist Pam Ferworn’s artwork focuses on “communicating through paint”. Pam’s interest in art began at a young age when she would draw and paint alongside her grandfather (a self taught artist). A move from western Canada to Houston, TX prompted Pam to take painting classes. But soon work and three boys meant painting was put on the back burner. It wasn’t until 2020 that Pam was able to dedicate an increased amount of time to painting. And she hasn’t stopped since then! The Texas hills, gulf shores, prairies and piney woods provide a different painting experience and color palette. Jury Report

Uniquely for Winter House there was no design brief in terms of style or area, and instead, the client issued the Architect his impressive art schedule. While it’s apparent that Art is the central focus of the plan, through a meticulous attention to detail, uninhabited connection between inside and out – what has been delivered is a beautifully crafted home.

The site is semi-rural and bound by impressive, protected tree and enclosed with perimeter walls clad in the previous houses’ brickwork. Externally, the building is dark, repressive within the wild setting, with the street frontage being primarily solid and private. The masculine material palette serves to minimise the impact of the building behind the protected greenery – a request by the conservation officer. However, to the private garden side, the building is wrapped with expanses of angled glazing – an extroverted aesthetic allows the building to connect with its architectural gardens at every turn.

While the two intersecting volumes appear simple in appearance, beneath is an intricate and complicated skeleton. A crucifix form transfer enables the two volumes to become completely column free, with the trusses’ columns imbedded and concealed within partitions. The result is an almost invisible threshold between inside and out, unencumbered by any visible frame or columns.

Internally, the dark tones of the exterior are exchanged for bright, light-filled spaces which use natural materials to bring warmth and depth, with the artwork carefully showcased on how it will be lit and viewed. What can only be described as a meticulous attention to detail played out throughout; shadow gaps define a split between surfaces, screed isolations joints were thoughtfully considered to coordinate with the soft furniture. The power sockets are distributed within the floor build up and discretely integrated within the screed, with lighting controlled digitally, removing the need for light switches throughout.

With Winter House there is no compromise. As a result, the Architect has created a series of coordinated, considered spaces, where landscape and build form blend seamlessly.

Did Taylor Swift’s melodic responses to Aaron’s music make you hear his work, which you’re so familiar with, differently at all? Did it open up paths and potential that might feed back into your National work in future?

It was really fun and exciting to hear Cardigan, for example. I had that sketch from Aaron and I was in the middle of writing all these songs for Cyrano de Bergerac, and at the same time, I Am Easy to Find, we had written so much stuff there. There was a lot of music that Aaron was making that I wasn't doing anything with yet, and he asked if he could use some of those sketches for something else, and I was kind of relieved because I had run out of steam on writing. So when I heard Cardigan I recognised the sketch immediately, but what Taylor did with that, I could never do it. It made me really hear how good she is, and I've been a big fan of hers for a long time, but hearing how differently she approaches things and what she did melodically was so fascinating. I'd heard a lot of this music and I never would have written that. What she did with what Aaron as doing was very different than what I would have done. I think it's the same when Aaron hears me with Booker, like, wow, there's so many potential new ways of doing this. When Sufjan Stevens came into the mix of the National, I remember it was like, whoa! He opened up a whole new branch, a whole new wing of the house, of where we could go with the band. He told us, you could go this way and we didn't know we could do something like that. All along the way, I think the smartest thing the National has done, the reason it's still a healthy, creative band, is because we've gone out and learned and brought so many people back to it. And gone off and had all these new experiences. Aaron's work with Justin (Vernon) and Bryce's work with Innaritu, and our work bringing Mike Mills in, Gail Ann Dorsey - all those things have always brought more colours to our palette, new tools we bring back to the barn. So yeah, it was really exciting and enlightening and fun to see how much we can all grow and discover.

RWRB Timeline

I originally worked out the timeline for Sep. 27, 2020, and when people suggested I post it on tumblr, I said fuck it and did the whole book.

Go big or go home, right?

I have spent the past 3 days working on this. It’s half summaries of the events of the days in order, and half “here’s a one sentence summary of the day”.

Whenever possible, I’ve detailed out when things happen by the hour, like the day at Wimbledon, or the email leak day, including guesstimations on flight times, and what time EST and BST Alex is taking off and landing. I often forgot to add vague things like “morning” in, so sorry about that.

I’ve bolded all the dates I’m sure of.

Bold and italics means an official date: emails, text threads, tweets, holidays, Georgetown, etc.

Two asterisks ** = official dates.

Just bold means a day I’m sure of, based off of official dates: Two weeks later, day one post lake house, “a tuesday”, etc.

One asterisk: * = something I’m sure of based on official dates.

I’ve also bolded days of the week I’m sure of, even if I’m not certain of the date.

I’ve left a few things vague. Like, October 2020 is a lot of “sometime between these days, this happened”. Feel free to pick a day in that range to your heart’s content.

If you don’t like the day I picked for little things like Bea walking in on face time, or coming out to June, feel free to change it.

I didn’t bold everything I’m certain on, as I technically don’t have textual evidence to back it up. (Things like the wedding day, Alex and Henry’s texts at in the beginning, some things during the campaign.)

I’m 100% willing to answer questions on why I chose certain days, and any other questions or comments you may have!

**Aug. 28, 2019 (Wed.) — Alex starts classes at Georgetown, Winter Semester 2019

Sep. 7-Sep. 8, 2019 (Sat.-Sun.) (p. 5-6) — Alex and June attend an event and listen to an hour and a half of speeches about carbon emissions. June is whisked away to a star studded gala. Alex shows up to the presidential suite with a bottle of champagne. Around 4 a.m. Alex leaves after fake hooking up with Nora.

Sep. 12, 2019 (Th.) (p. 3-8) — June and Alex go over the tabloids. Alex has been working on a research paper all week

Sep. 13, 2019 (Fri.) (p. 8-12) — The US crew flies to London.

6 a.m. EST: Take off.

5 p.m. BST: Land in London. (Wiggle the take off time to your heart’s content. Flight is around 6 hours give or take for Air Force 1, plus time to and from the airport, plus the time change. The flight time is “11 hours” with the time change if that helps you calculate the landing time in London.) They potentially have 1-2 appearances that evening.

Sep. 14, 2019 (Sat.) (p. 12-20) — The royal wedding. The US crew has 1-2 appearances before arriving at the ceremony. The ceremony happens. Reception happens at a Buckingham ballroom. The White House Trio chats, Henry dances with June. Alex finds Henry hovering by the champagne fountain and they argue. Alex trips over his own foot and crashes into the $75k wedding cake, pulling Henry down with him.

Sep. 16, 2019 (Mon.) (p. 21-27) — Alex gets chewed out over the Incident by Zahra and the President in a White House briefing room. He gets told he will be leaving Saturday to make nice with Henry in England.

Sometime between Mon. Sep. 16 and Fri. Sep. 20, 2019 (p. 27-32) — Alex, Nora, and June meet in the Whitehouse and go over the HRH Prince Henry Fact Sheet. Alex bemoans the fact that he just finished his midterms.

Sep. 21, 2019 (Sat.) (p. 32-37) — Alex leaves in the early a.m. EST and arrives late afternoon/early evening in London. (11-12 hour difference in takeoff time to landing time. Note, this is just DC to Lon., not the other way round.). Meets Henry at the stable and a royal photographer takes pictures.

Sep. 22, 2019 (Sun.) (p. 37-53) — 12:00 a.m.: Alex is wide awake and goes into the kitchen for a snack. Henry stumbles in, and Alex posts a photo of them with their ice cream on Instagram.

9 a.m.: Interview with The Morning.

Afternoon meeting with cancer patients. Alex and Henry spend some time in the closet chatting after fireworks are mistaken for gunshots. Before his flight home, Alex puts his number in Henry’s phone. Likely lands around 7-8 p.m. EST.

Sep. 27, 2019 (Fri.) (p. 54-61) — Alex has a lecture on presidential sex scandals. Texts Nora about the probability of one of them having a sex scandal by the end of the second term and she replies with 94% and a link to a gifset of Henry and Alex at The Morning where someone has commented “omfg make out already”. Alex meets with Rafael Luna after his class.

Sometime between Sep. 27, 2019 (Fri.) and Oct. 6, 2019 (Sun.) (p. 61-68) — June, Alex, Leo, and Ellen have dinner together. June texts Alex to have dinner and he forgets to respond until 1.5 hours later when Ellen texts about family dinner. She offers them jobs in the campaign and June turns it down the next morning.

Oct. 9, 2019 (Wed.) (p. 68) — Henry texts Alex while Alex is in a policy lecture. His opening line is “this bloke looks like you” with a picture of the Ewok Chief Chirpa from Return of the Jedi.

Oct. 16, 2019 (Wed.) (p. 68-69) — Alex finally responds a week later after seeing a headline on the cover of People about Henry in Australia with a photo of him in a pair of minuscule navy swim trunks. “you have a lot of moles. is that a result of the inbreeding?

Oct. 18, 2019 (Fri.) (p. 69) — Henry texts Alex a screenshot of a Daily Mail tweet that says “Is Alex Claremont-Diaz going to be a father?” with the caption “But we were ever so careful, dear.” Henry texts Alex a screenshot of a Daily Mail tweet that says “Is Alex Claremont-Diaz going to be a father?” with the caption “But we were ever so careful, dear.” Alex gets ejected from Zahra’s weekly debriefing meeting with him and June.

Oct. 19-Oct. 28, 2019 (Sat.-Mon.) (p. 69-71) — Henry and Alex text regularly on a variety of topics including family, friends, beer, boats, and Hogwarts houses.

**Oct. 29, 2019 (Tue.) (p. 71-72) — Henry texts Alex about being in a meeting with Philip. Later that night Alex replies, asking what the meeting was about.

**Oct. 30, 2019 (Wed.) (p. 73) — 1:07 p.m. EST Henry and Alex text about Henry’s grey tie in his instagram post.

**Nov. 17, 2019 (Sun.) (p. 74) — 11:04 a.m. EST: Henry receives a box of Ellen Claremont campaign buttons with Alex’s face on them. Sniffer dogs were nearly called after the security theme thought it was a bomb. Alex and Henry text about it.

**Nov. 25, 2019 (Mon.) (p. 75-84) — Alex finds out that the turkeys his mom will be pardoning have been staying in the Willard Hotel on taxpayers dime. He convinces her to put them in his room.

10 p.m. EST/3 a.m. GMT: Alex regrets his decisions. He calls Henry to prove they’re as terrifying as Alex claims and they have a long conversation about the turkeys, Henry’s pets, and how Henry surprises Alex.

**Dec. 8, 2019 (Sun.) (p. 84) — 8:53 p.m. EST: Alex texts Henry about a Bond marathon happening on TV. He asks if Henry knows his dad was a total babe, which Henry replies with “I BEG YOU NOT”

*Dec. 20, 2019 (Fri.) (p. 84-85) — Ellen reads an article in the Post with the headline “Senator Oscar Diaz Returns to DC For Holidays With Ex-Wife President Claremont”. She continues to stress about decorations in the Lincoln Bedroom for Oscar.

*Dec. 21, 2019 (Sat.) (p. 85) — Oscar Diaz arrives at the White House. June nearly breaks a vase launching herself into his arms. Oscar and June disappear to the chocolate shop on the ground floor.

*Dec. 22, 2019 (Sun.) (p. 85-86) — Oscar and Alex bond over a cigar on the Truman Balcony.

*Dec. 23, 2019 (Mon.) (p. 87) — Alex catches Oscar in the kitchens with two of the cooks, laughing and dumping peppers into a pot.

*Dec. 21-23, 2019 (Sat.-Mon.) (p. 86-87) — Alex wishes it could be like this more often and misses having everyone under one roof.

**Dec. 24, 2019 (Tue.) (p. 87-95) — Christmas dinner is held on Christmas Eve so Zahra can still attend. Zahra wears a sensible red turtleneck. Alex wears a sweater covered in bright green tinsel. ‘O Christmas Tree” plays out of a speaker near his armpit when he presses a button on the inside of his sleeve. Dinner conversation moves to the election. Oscar and Ellen argue. Alex loses his temper and leaves.

9:30 p.m. EST/2:30 a.m. GMT: Alex changes into an old lacrosse shirt and calls Henry. Henry is wearing candy cane pjs. Alex tells Henry about the divorce and what happened at dinner and only realizes he’s been talking for an hour when henry says “It sounds like you did your best.) June knocks on the door and Alex hangs up after thanking Henry and wishing him a Merry Christmas.

10:30 p.m.: June and Alex talk about what happened after Alex left and then Alex tells her he was talking to Henry, not Nora.

**Dec. 26, 2019 (Th.) (p. 95-97) — Alex spends the day going over waivers for the “Legendary Balls Out Bananas White House Trio New Year’s Eve Party” aka “The Young America New Year’s Eve Gala” aka “The Millennial Correspondents Dinner”.

Dec. 27, 2019 (Fri.) (p. 96-97) — Alex discovers Henry is coming to the party and bringing Pez when he glances at the final guest list while the Trio are looking at confetti samples and eating cake samples.

**Dec. 31, 2019 (Tue.) (p. 97-103) — Pez posts a picture of him and Henry on a private jet headed to DC with the caption “USA bound! #YoungAmericaGala2019” Pez has dyed his hair pastel pink, and Henry is wearing a grey sweatshirt. Alex texts Henry that he will be wearing a burgundy suit and warns Henry to not attempt to outshine Alex, as he will fail and Alex will be embarrassed for him. Henry replies “Wouldn’t dream of it”. After that the Trio begins getting ready. Nora’s short curls are swept to the side with a matching silver pin to the geometric designs on the bodice of her black dress. June’s gown is midnight blue and perfectly compliments the navy-and-gold color palette they chose for the party.

8 p.m.: Guests begin to arrive. The first wave includes some White House interns, and the daughter of a first time Senator and her girlfriend. The second wave is the politically strategic invites chosen by the press team, and finally the fashionably late, including Minor to mid-range popstars and the children of major celebrities.

Pez and Henry show up. Pez is in a colorful floral print shiny silk bomber jacket. Henry is wearing a simple dark blue suit with a bright coppery-mustard tie in a narrow cut. Alex realizes this is the first time they’ve seen each other in person since their weekend in London and feels like he’s meeting a new person.

There's dancing and mingling, and June makes a speech about the immigration fund they’re supporting with their donations. June and Henry talk at the bar.

The live band breaks and the DJ takes over. Alex finds out Henry hasn’t ever dry humped to “Get Low”. There’s more dancing and crowd pleasers until midnight.

11:59 p.m.: They huddle together for the countdown.

**Jan. 1, 2020 (Wed.) (p. 103-108) — 12:00 a.m. Nora kisses Alex

Alex loses track of things. Alex goes looking for Henry. He eventually finds him under a tree. They talk. Henry is vague and Alex is dummy thicc. Henry calls Alex thick and kisses him. Henry pulls away and disappears from the party.

*Jan. 1-Jan. 4, 2020 (Th.-Sat.) (p. 109) — Alex tries listening in on his mom’s meeting as a distraction but can’t pay attention. Zahra bans him from the West Wing.

*Jan. 5-Jan 7, 2020 (Sun.-Tue.) (p. 109) — Alex studies bills going through Congress and considers making the rounds at the Senate or starting a rumor with Nora, but he has no enthusiasm.

**Jan. 8, 2020 (Wed.) (p. 109) — Alex begins his final semester at Georgetown.

*Jan. 9-Jan. 14, 2020 (Th.-Tue.) (p. 109) — Alex throws himself into classwork, meets with the social secretary to plan his graduation dinner. Henry doesn’t answer his texts.

*Jan. 15, 2020 (Wed.) (p. 110-114) — June is fed up with Alex’s pacing and takes him out for a run. Alex does some introspection. Alex tells his mom he wants to start his campaign job now, instead of waiting until he graduates.

*Jan. 20, 2020 (Mon.) (p. 115) — Alex starts his new job at the campaign offices.

*Jan. 20-Jan. 25, 2020 (Mon.-Fri.) (p. 115-116) — Alex puts 23 hours into his new job and Definitely Does Not Think About Henry.
