“To counter the dehumanizing isolation of incarceration, Jesse Krimes works collaboratively with currently and formerly incarcerated individuals to create artworks out of old clothing and textiles that evoke memories of home. The artist developed his own practice while serving a six-year prison sentence. In this work, Krimes regards the tentacled animal as "a panoptic state of surveillance" and alludes to the eugenic and white supremacist ideas embedded in American zoology. The title, Blackwater, refers to a prison in Florida.”

haha I am desperate

So I'm looking for a cool fanart of the Octopod on Tumblr. It depicted the Octopod as if it were alive and showed a happy normal looking Octopod on the left with a Skeleton Coast version of the Octopod looking depressed. The artstyle was a chibi-ish anime look. I don't know the artist and I think they may have deactivated their account since I can't find it anywhere on my likes. And I haven't reblogged it... if someone here knows the artist or reblogged the artwork, please send a link, thank you!

Also, Kwazii headcanons??

1.) Kwazii definitely does not wear his hat if hes not on a mission , i feel like its definitely a sensory thing, but he definitely wears it on missions because he wants people to know hes an octonaut and not a "scary" pirate.

2.) I feel like Kwazii wears a jacket anytime its not 90° plus because he absolutely h a t e s the cold. Hes definitely somebody who would rather sweat than freeze.

3.) The only reason he tucks in his shirt is becase Captain Barnacles makes him.

4.) Kwazii has little cream spots all over his furr, especially his belly, because Calico Jack is definitely a calico cat and I think he passed some little spots down.

6.) Kwazii definitely steals Inklngs chair whenever he can, and sometimes Inkling will just find him curled up in the Library's chair.

7.) He never goes anywhere without an extra eye patch.

We got more official info on the octarians recently! It seems the octo balls are back and everyone is sporting a more fuzzy look. The octotrooper’s usual device they ride on appear to have a spring on the bottom allowing them to jump now, and maybe the puffy octopod is a new mechanic where they puff up before exploding? Tunip

Tunip: he is 10.when he was younger his dad would usually work for home but when he had to go in he would be left with his bio mum if she was available but it would be very rare that she could take him because of her job so he would most often be left with his grandparents or his aunt pearl.When tunip started to get older his dad started bringing him into work usually for weeks at a time due to the location(ya know the sea).Because of Tunips unusual circumstances he was allowed to take classes online and be parshaly homeschooled by professor inkling during the weeks his dad had to be on the octopod.Tunip loves being on the octopod but because he is almost never in school Tunip started to become quite isolated which is very difficult for him as he is naturally very sociable (he gets it from dashi and his bio mum) so when he’s not on the octopod his parents schedule as many play dates with his school friends(the other vegimals)(-tomonnow because he hasn’t met them yet) as they can.Tunip is very proud that 2 of his parents are octonauts he often comes home with stories from their adventures that he tells his friends his friends love these stories and now there favourite game to play is the octonauts.Tunip and his bio mum have a fairly good relationship they aren’t as close as they would like to be because tunips bio mum has to travel around a lot for work but when she is home she spends as much time with Tunip as possible.She often takes him out for fancy lunches and dinners and always brings him back something from the place she had to travel to.Tunip loves his dad and loves dashi and is used to calling her mum cuz she’s been around since he was a toddler.Dashi is the one who taught him how to cook.He is on good terms with all the octonauts especially dashi and shellington (cuz they’re his parents) and professor inking (as he spends the most time with him besides his parents)Tunip is very friendly,brave and a natural leader he loves cooking,baking and ping pong.

Octonauts Desktop Wallpaper, released in May 2004.

This is the first art Meomi had ever released of Dashi, the Octopod, and the Gup-E, and one of the earliest art for the Octonauts brand overall. Interesting details include Dashi’s complete lack of hair in this older design (she seems to be the character that took the longest to get to a finalized design), a VERY different looking Gup-E design Peso is driving (as per usual), and the pod’s held up by the Octopod’s appendages being used as entrances for the Gups instead of going through the Octo-hatch, meaning they weren’t used as bedrooms or for recreational activities yet. Overall, the Octopod can be seen with quite a different layout if you look close enough at its smaller details, like the antennae atop it!

Dashi was also initially introduced as “Sauci”, a name that she’d have until being reintroduced in the animated series in 2010. The reason for this change was a matter of the name’s inspiration. Sauci was a nod to her species, a sausage dog, but not all regions use that name for her breed. Due to this, her name was changed to “Dashi” for Dachshund, which is a more commonly recognized name for the dog.

Newly discovered octopus ancestor had 10 arms

Scientists name the new species after President Joe Biden

About 330 million years ago in what’s now Montana, a squidlike creature died in a tropical bay and its soft body was preserved in limestone. Now, paleontologists at the American Museum of Natural History and Yale University have studied the fossilized remains and named the unusual 10-armed creature in honor of U.S. President Joe Biden.

The creature was about 12 centimeters long and had a torpedo-shaped body, with a pair of fins at one end that likely helped stabilize it as it swam. It also had an ink sack and 10 sucker-bearing arms (see image, above), the scientists report today in Nature Communications. Two of the arms seem to be longer than the rest, similar to the two long tentacles that accompany the eight arms of modern-day squid. (Cephalopod arms have suckers throughout, which help them grasp prey, whereas tentacles only have suckers at the very end)...
