Sesshomaru frames Part 137 (Yashahime S1)
When Zero confronted him about using Tenseiga on her. He had no other choice. You can tell he had mixed feelings bringing back the woman who cursed his wife and trying to kill his daughters. He did it for Rin's sake. 💔 and also for the fact he couldn't bear to lose her.

Why did Rin name them "Towa and Setsuna"? - The meaning behind their names
I received a question about their names. The meaning behind Moroha's name will be in another post. Since these were things we previously covered I'll have the master post on Towa and Setsuna's name here -
Tumblr media
In Yashahime Episode 15 Rin says "Towa and Setsuna" to their names. In Japanese - Towa and Setsuna mean One Moment and an Eternity. It's also said in each episode. "Towa and Setsuna, between us half-demon twins, two worlds exist at the same time; Human and Demon, Feudal Era and Present Day, Peace and War, Joy and Sorrow, Dreams and Reality, Now and Forever, and finally Love and Hate. A Feudal fairytale, Yashahime. We'll keep moving forward, overcoming the hurdles of destiny."
Katsuyuki: — What is the origin behind the names “Setsuna” and “Towa”?
**From the outset, I came up with “Setsuna” using “setsu” in “Sesshōmaru”. I chose the name “Towa” so that it would pair with “Setsuna”. https://ayuuria.tumblr.com/post/684458629287542784/yashahime-translation-official-guidebook
Setsuna means “moment” while Towa means “eternity”. - Hence, a pair.
Katsuyuki-san said that "Setsuna is a black Sesshoumaru" and Towa is "White Sesshoumaru" they are Yin and Yang.
https://www.tumblr.com/officialinuyasha/629334377576464384/this-was-a-translation-collab-between-esther-xiao Katsuyuki: "Setsuna and Towa inherited the "yin" and "yang" of Sesshomaru, respectively, but at the same time both yin and yang exist in Towa and Setsuna. Half-demons are self-contradicting existences, and that is the subject that has been passed down."
Rumiko also mentioned this https://ayuuria.tumblr.com/post/667032838479265792/yashahime-translation-official-guidebook
"Sumisawa-san told me “Towa is a white Sesshōmaru and Setsuna is a black Sesshōmaru”"
Tumblr media
You can also find "Rin to Sesshoumaru" theme song in Towa's theme song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9lofIKeL_0
The voice actors said Setsuna and Towa's relationship seems to reflect on Sesshoumaru and Rin's - https://www.tumblr.com/officialinuyasha/646757262237597697/staff-thoughts-on-sessrin
"Towa seems to close that gap like *that person* (Rin" "Their relationship seems like that of their parents" "If you look at Towa, I think you can figure out who the mother is"
Their names are black and white, past and present, human and demon, one moment and an eternity. A pair.

I feel like me and the rest of the fandom are being gaslighted by Sessrinners and the existence of Yashahime itself when they keep on crying out that Sessrin was “obviously the intended canon from the start,” and “who else was going to be the mother?” And like…no? Before the existence of that dreaded Drama CD (which itself isn’t canon and just satire) there wasn’t a single hint or shippy subtext pointing toward Sessrin ever becoming a thing in the future. I legit went back and skimmed through all the episodes (even the Sunrise invented filler ones) and chapters the two appear in and no interaction between the two could even be taken as ambiguous, it’s all very strictly platonic. Rin didn’t even have so much a puppy love crush on Sesshomaru, she was excitedly shipping him with Kagura and yet shippers, Sunrise, Shiina and Rumiko wanna tell me she was an intended love interest all along and Sessrin antis were “just too blind to the truth?”
This is literal fandom gaslighting. The only possible hint that exists in the OG anime that I might give shippers is Takemaru in the 3rd movie comparing both Kagome and Rin to Izayoi, but 1: It’s not any actual shippy interaction coming from either Sesshomaru’s or Rin’s parts and only exists from the observations of an outside observer who mind you, is currently clearly losing his mind and 2: All the movies are non-canon, so just like the Drama CD they don’t count. (Though in retrospect realizing that Sumisawa directed all the movies like how he wrote the Drama CD and directed Yashahime it most likely was intended to come off as a “hint,” it’s definitely not an obvious one that normal non-pedos who don’t have lolicon brain rot would ever pick up on, I know I didn’t my first time around and was frankly shocked during Yashahime’s initial announcement that Rin was actually being considered a serious candidate for the twins mother)
So let me get this straight, all the shipping “hints” that even exist for Sessrin are all from non-canon material? Not the actual original manga or show itself? And Sessrinners still wanna insecurely scream at the top of their lungs on how “Sessrin is canon” and the fandom has to be forced to accept it? No, fuck that! I know gaslighting when I see it!
I agree wholeheartedly - through Yashahime, we're told by Sunrise and affiliates that the only valid interpretation of the relationship between Sesshoumaru and Rin is a romantic one. We're told that it was inevitable that they should get together, that there was no other option for the two of them, and that this is a GOOD development instead of a regression. If we point out that a romance between the two was unsupported in the source material, and that the interpretations we took from it were much more platonic, we're gleefully dogpiled by shippers who insist that WE'RE the ones who were drawing those platonic interpretations from nowhere. Pointing to specific scenes and interactions that indicate Rin is not Sesshoumaru's equal, that she obeys him like the child she is, that Sesshoumaru plays the role of a surrogate father, are points that are dismissed without counterevidence and a handwave, if not ignored altogether. There is no reason to believe that these two characters aren't meant to be a couple someday, you're just looking at this through the lens of WESTERN morality, and antis are committed to an insane moral standard.
What are you talking about? I don't see a gaslight. You're just crazy.
Honestly, at this point, it's a wonder that we bother to back up our opinion of the matter at all anymore. Obviously actual evidence from the manga doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what you can SHOW actually happened in the story and how your interpretation can be drawn reasonably from the text. All that matters is whether a writer at Sunrise with a VERY clear bias toward depicting these types of grooming relationships managed to get HIS interpretation widely distributed or not. Because if you're part of the official entity that officially OWNS the IP, your opinion matters more, I guess.
RT shrugging and yielding to Sunrise's version of the relationship certainly doesn't help matters. Though she HAS (at last) come out and said that she personally viewed Sesshoumaru as a parental figure to Rin, I don't think that she ever cared one way or the other whether people shipped them. I speculated a while back that the reason we never got her stance on the matter sooner was because she didn't want to alienate ANY of her Sesshoumaru fans, because him being one of her more popular characters meant that her voicing an opinion on his relationship with Rin might mean some people would stop reading/watching Inuyasha altogether and it would hurt her bottom line. I'm more convinced than ever that this is the case, because she out-and-out AVOIDED questions about Sesshoumaru getting together with Rin when she's older up until after the first season of Yashahime, which she would only do because she wasn't going to make them a couple, but she knew that her friends at Sunrise might want to take a crack at it at some point and she didn't want to close that door. She only went ahead and finally gave her own perspective when it was clear the show was a major flop after the mother reveal, and there was nothing left to lose by trying to recapture some of her lost Sesshoumaru fans by showing them a little solidarity.
Not sure how successful a move that was, given I know a LOT of folks who are still very upset and not buying anything Inuyasha branded anymore. I guess the only ones who will really know for sure are RT and Sunrise, as reflected in their plunging profits.

I'm going to add more events to this later, but I decided to make a timeline with the character ages included year-by-year. Inuyasha and Yashahime both have a "real-time" timeline that coincides with the year they were written/animated, so these dates are all the official dates according to the licensed material. See notes at the bottom for character ages.
Inuyasha Official Timeline
1996 - Middle school student Kagome (15) travels to feudal era, meets Inuyasha (emotionally about 15), Miroku (17), Sango (15)*, Shippo (emotionally about 7) and Kohaku (11). Sesshomaru (emotionally about 19) meets Rin (8) several months later. Kagome's brother Sota (8) is in 3rd grade.
1997 - Naraku is defeated. Kagome (16) is trapped in the modern era and starts high school. Miroku (18) and Sango (16) get married, have identical twin girls (Kin'u and Gyokuto) later that year/early the following year. Rin (9) moves in with Kaede (60?). Kohaku (12) continues working as a demon slayer on his own.
2000 - Final Act. Miroku (20) and Sango (19) have Hisui. Rin (12) helps Kaede (63) deliver Hisui. Kagome (19) returns to the feudal era and marries Inuyasha. Bone eaters well is sealed when Kagome returns, but 7 months later, Root Head enters tree of ages and gains power to establish a gate to the future.
2004 - Rin (16). Hisui (4).
2006 - Rin (18) gives birth to Towa and Setsuna. Kagome (25) gives birth to Moroha. Rin is trapped in the tree of ages to stop her curse from killing her. Inuyasha and Kagome also trapped (in tree of ages in the manga, in the gateway to the next world in anime...which also slows aging). All three Yashahime are hidden to protect them.
2010 - Towa (4) sent to modern Tokyo and meets Sota (22) and is adopted by him soon after. Setsuna (4) sent to live in hanyo sanctuary.
2020 - Sota (32) and his family meet Moroha (14). Miroku (41) and Sango (39) are expecting another child (in the manga). Towa (14) and Setsuna (14) break the curse on Rin (32, physically still 18). Kagome (39, physically still 25 in manga) and Inuyasha are set free and reunited with Moroha. Kohaku (35) and Hisui (20) continue working as demon slayers. Kaede (83?) is still kicking, probably thanks to her powers as a priestess.

https://www.reddit.com/r/inuyasha/comments/g8gn9k/interview_with_rumiko_takahashi_about_sesshomaru/
*Rumiko-sensei gives a range of 15-16 for Sango and 17-18 for Miroku, and since the events of Inuyasha (excluding the last episode) take place over a year, I started at the lower year and ended on the higher year. Only Kagome and Kohaku are given specific ages in the original manga. All other ages are calculated from dialogue in both series that confirm the dates of these events (more sources to be added later).
In fedual era Japan (up until about 1950), birthdates are not kept track of, so people turn a year older on new year's day (lunar reckoning) regardless of what month they were born.
It shouldn't come as a shock that demons age and mature differently than humans. Though they live much longer, they mature at a much slower rate, especially because of their natural emotional handicaps. Demons who never learn to experience compassion or love usually remain the emotional equivalent of a human child - they are extremely self-centered. This is why Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, though much older than their human companions, are still like teenagers when it comes to their emotional maturity. However, once they open their hearts to humans, their maturity grows by leaps and bounds in a very short amount of time. The approximate emotional ages of the demon characters are based from Rumiko-sensei's interviews, though she has always left it more open to the readers. No, it's not an exact science. But this is a feudal fairy tale, so try not to get too hung up on ages and maturity levels.

Custom Toonami Block Week 160 Rundown
Spy X Family: This one’s a relatively serious affair focusing on Yuri tailing a guy that’s forging propaganda which seems like a lot of work considering if you can’t find a government doing something shitty, especially one of these turn of the century police states, you’re probably not looking hard enough. Still it’s a nice change of pace for this to be pretty light on comedy and have Yuri methodically watch this guy be a douche but someone that cares about his family and arrest the guy but still want to help his family at the end of the day. It’s also a neat little release that when he goes to visit Yor Anya basically reads the whole episode from his mind and feels sorry for him and basically all his logic goes out the window once Yor praises him. The remainder of the episode is a little short of the in-universe tv show Bondman basically making itself a harem anime like ‘The 100 Girlfriends and the Spy who really really really really really really loved them’ and it’s just becoming more and more questionable that this is where Anya’s worldview comes from, maybe she’d be better off watching Becky’s soap operas after all, though at least Bondman does still promote a sense of borderless globalism and peace which has got to be a hard sell in this world specifically but it’s a good influence on kids like Anya who are going to grow up healing from decades of nationalism and war. Then there’s also like three 4koma-ass omake style things with quick jokes, they’re okay, never been a huge fan of the 4koma style since they kinda reuse punchlines for effect and don’t have as much setup.
Inuyasha: It’s a “Kagome returns to the present” episode with some ‘Inuyasha talked about Kikyo for five seconds so Kagome’s moody’ thrown in honestly these are usually pretty solid comedy-wise though this one does kinda suffer from getting caught in the Kikyo spiral that’s been getting less and less coherent as Kagome’s character’s developed and they continue to get mad at Inuyasha for… being happy she’s not literally dead? Either way it’s got some good physical comedy of Inuyasha trying to fix a bike that has the same vibes as the ‘Goku doing normal shit with the powers of a god’ episodes of DBZ which is always a treat, and apparently for some reason he can’t use the Adamant Barrage in the present which I don’t think was ever explained but it’s fine since the present basically doesn’t exist in canon past a certain point so the filler can say whatever it wants. The other half of the comedy comes from Kagome’s friends wanting to meet Inuyasha and finally seeing him and… kinda having a completely normal conversation with him by complete accident, like Inuyasha’s chill/oblivious enough to not say anything too stupid and it’s really funny how they recognize him from the cultural festival arc like the filler’s been quietly having its own story about Kagome’s friends learning more about her exploits and it’s a nice little throughline even if it doesn’t amount to anything, though it does draw a more clear line around the Inuyasha/Kagome/Hojo love triangle they had in the beginning since Kagome has officially confessed to Inuyasha at this point and her friends draw a line that despite not entirely being sure about Inuyasha they like him well enough and Hojo is officially out. I’ve said it before but I really wanted Yashahime to give us a well-adapted Hojo with a cool wife that loves him because he’s a sweet boy and did not deserve all the romantic yanking around this story gave him.
Yu Yu Hakusho: It’s time for Yomi versus Shura and this didn’t go how I thought it would at all. Like I don’t remember this arc very well and only saw a couple episodes of it to begin with but yeah, Yomi vs Shura is just a series of DBZ moves with Yomi going ‘DO YOU YIELD!?’ and beating the shit out of his child in a more mild recreation of that scene from Invincible. Shura has the shonen protagonist spirt and doesn’t back down but Yomi’s eventually just like ‘bro I am literally going to kill you if you say you won’t give up one more time’ and Shura gives up so like… what was the point of any of that? Like Yomi was going easy on him to teach him shit but didn’t really teach him anything and Shura’s spirit is admirable but gets broken at the end so like what was the point of the ‘I have a secret son who’s super strong I swear’ plotline? Like the reason I didn’t predict things going this way was because… it kinda doesn’t make sense, like the new mystery character is supposed to have an impact on the tournament not get kicked out before it starts, this’d be like if that guy with Dakrai got beaten before he even got to fight Ash. I don’t know I’m just kinda confused about where the arc is going and Yusuke fights a giant cat demon for like five seconds, like it feels like the arc doesn’t have a lot of time but it keeps inventing filler fights to pad things out anyway.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Geto squares off against Megumi Sr. to avenge Riko and turns out JJH has the same flaw back then that it does now where if you’re just some dude and know where to look you can kinda just walk right in and since Megumi Sr. is the ultimate love child of Rock Lee and Tenten and is able to hide his pocket dimension spirit like he’s smuggling drugs at an airport terminal, he can just poke his head right in no problem. You’d think they’d fix that flaw considering it’s the exact same one Mahito used to steal the fingers and the womb brothers. But yeah Megumi Sr. kicks Geto’s ass, considering his two major losses are this and a kid with an angry girlfriend and two weeks of sword training I’m starting to doubt his claim to being the ‘strongest’ with Gojo. Megudad delivers Riko’s body to the crazy cult and picks up his money and FUCKING GOJO is just standing outside the building like ‘sup’ like he’s still covered in his own blood and shit and it’s great cause he’s just high off his ass like full Gear Fifth laughing and not caring about anything. Turns out Gojo works on Aizen rules and almost dying makes him stronger because it let him figure out the healing techniques and considering that’s a whole half of his power that just opened up plus the fact he can multiply that half with the half he already had to be exponentially stronger he’s gonna kick Megumi Sr’s ass with the power of MATH. Just a full on SAO Abridged ‘MY NUMBERS ARE HIGHER THAN YOURS’ deal and he blows Dadgumi a new chest hole, between this and how Geto’s defeated I think the author just really likes the ‘blow an arm and half their chest off’ pose. He tells Gojo about Megumi on a whim, though maybe for some fleeting pity for his son despite Gojo having every reason to go and kick the kid in the nuts and watch him be sold off to slavery for what his dad did. Still with the final stinger we find Geto’s found Daddad’s cursed spirit and finds Gojo with all the HappyHappyists cheering for him for grabbing Riko’s corpse. Gojo’s just like ‘you know I’m pretty high right now, could probably just murder all these cultist and not be torn up inside about it’ and we show that despite both their foundations being rocked, Geto’s still on the side of not wanting to hurt normal people even as Gojo’s starting to teeter on the edge.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: Ramona continues the Great Scott Pilgrim Investigation of whatever the fuck year this is supposed to be, I forget. This time the focus is Lucas Lee, movie star and potential Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater secret character. Now something that’s been going on in the background that I haven’t really mentioned is what appears to be a multidimensional robot feeding Scott’s dumbest acquaintance a script of what is presumably the original Scott Pilgrim series which is now getting made into a movie which would presumably be the original live action movie or at least similar to it. The funny part is Lucas plays Scott instead of himself and they have a good amount of fun with the who plays who deal like Lucas getting in more trouble for dating a 31 year old actress playing a teenager than Scott got in for dating an actual teenager and the whole thing has an Ember Island Players vibe with everyone kind of picking at how their performances are adapted and how things they do are unrealistic in retrospect. There’s a big skateboard fight with paparazzi ninjas because that’s just the kind of series this is, and Ramona gets what she needs to clear Lucas while getting a good flashback of humanizing their relationship. Gotta say though, I mentioned this last time and while the Exes do seem to be entitled jerks who mostly feel they own Ramona, she DOES seem to be REALLY bad at ending relationships and really flighty about who she’s interested in, like she herself claims she’s different now and I have no clue what might’ve caused that change because if it’s just Scott being adorkable I think I’d puke but yeah while it doesn’t really justify creating a whole evil Evangelion council dedicated to claiming dominion of a single American girl, I kinda get the frustration these guys have that engendered that kind of anger if Ramona’s just hopping around without actually communicating the end of these relationships, like girl seems like she’s got some issues.
Ranking of Kings: This one’s a follow-up to last week’s episode about Ouken with his presumably filler friend Fren breaking the Underworld Law about monsters not being allowed above the surface. Long story short he and a bunch of his friends stage his death so he can search and the gist that the guys are like ‘oh yeah it’s over there where Bosse is’ and Fren considers his job done and Desha and Despa are like ‘well we already killed Fren so whoever this guy is giving us helpful info must be an imposter so get out of her losers’. And it’s just like… so many questions, like Fren barely looks monstrous but apparently he’s not allowed on the surface but the bulky probably monstrous order of the underworld knights are? Also like all this for something we could assume the kings could find out on their own like Miranjo’s not a huge secret and they never even establish how Fren found out about her so this could’ve been an email if Desha and Despa were doing their best to look for demon traces idk, even when we get new content from this season it feel like Naruto filler where it’s like ‘here’s a backstory for something that you could’ve assumed was common sense’. The other bit is about the underworld guards training Despa’s fat horse so that’s kind of dumb amusement I guess.
Vinland Saga: Snake gets Thorfinn patched up after his little run-in and gives him a blast of good old Conqueror’s Haki to let him know he means business about trying to kill him so Thorfinn flashes back to Askeladd and unconsciously snaps into battle mode to defend himself, proving to Snake that all his talk about not wanting to live anymore wasn’t true which is more of a shock to Thorfinn than anyone else, since he wonders why he would want to live and why he’s alive at all. The farm doctor treats Thorfinn and gives him a new shirt and gives him the day off and they make a point of saying how Thoffin never says thank you and rarely responds to anyone given growing up on a ship full of pirates that he wanted to murder probably didn’t help his etiquette and social skills. Still when Thorfinn just jumps back in to chopping trees, Einar has enough info now to piece his story together and asks Thorfinn if he’s been to war and if he’s killed anyone. Thorfinn basically gives him the less glib version of the ‘how many breads have you eaten?’ speech and given the time period and Thorfinn’s penchant for killing I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s killed more than he’s eaten breads. He acknowledges that he’s exactly like the people that burned down Einar’s village and he has every right to hate him. That night Einar’s thinking about just snapping Thorfinn’s neck to make himself feel better even though he had nothing to do with it, sort of a revenge by proxy. It’s kind of a neat parallel that now Thorfinn is the one waiting to be killed in his sleep like his first night with Askeladd, though by contrast Thorfinn actually is really asleep and having a nighmare about the grandma from the beginning of the series and all the other people he directly or indirectly murdered and how fighting for his life gradually made him think nothing of killing whether they were innocents or combatants. Einar sees how much the dream is tearing Thorfinn up and how much he regrets killing and realizes that he’s not like the people who killed his family, at least not anymore, and wakes him up. He tells Thorfinn that he won’t ever know if something good can come from living if he dies and he’s definitely in a better place now than he was, so there’s no reason to carry on about wanting to die, and no reason for Einar to hate him directly since he wasn’t responsible for what happened to his village. Thorfinn notably thanks Einar for waking him, showing he definitely is a little better off now and is starting to accept human connection again little by little or at least is willing to make an effort to. Also we see Canute doing cool guy shit around so it’ll be fun to catch up with him next time.

Pretty sure that delusional Sessrinner is stalking your blog, their salt and insecurity is showing because deep down they perfectly know that Yashahime is not canon so they feel the need to shove their delusions down your throat.
If Yashahime was truly confirmed canon by its authors (but they clearly stated it's merely Sumisawa's au scenario on the official site) or by Rumiko Takahashi herself, they wouldn't even waste time with us. Like, when it comes to the Harry Potter fandom, unfortunately J.K.Rowling stated that the Cursed Child is canon so it doesn't matter how many ppl hate it (me included), it stays canon.
Contrary to that, a series like Dragon Ball GT, was very unpopular in the DB fandom, pretty sure there were ppl who at least enjoyed something about the show, but still doesn't make it canon. Yashahime is the DBGT of the Inuyasha series, ppl have all the right to enjoy parts of it, parts that the OG canon series doesn't show (like Inukag's married life with a daughter) but still ppl's enjoyement doesn't turn a series canon when it's not. Inukag fans can enjoy Inukag+Moroha as much as they want but she's still a character that belongs to a not canon au, just like Towa and Setsuna who exclusively exist in Sumisawa's scenario, not in the OG canon plot. And we Inukik fans can enjoy the Inukik homage as much as we want, it's still not canon.
I honestly don't know if this idiotic anon is playing dumb or they're actually stupid, still whatever their situation is, Yashahime isn't nor will ever be canon because even its authors never acknowledge it as such. They'd better suck it up and move on with their pathetic pedophilic fantasies.
First of all, I love the InuKik community. We’re so cool. Everyone wishes they were as cool as us.
But exactly yes; the concept of official but non canon content isn’t new, not even to the Inuyasha fandom. There was that one cool videogame that had some really good ideas and concepts. Neat, sure, but not canon. All three of the movies? Also not canon despite having some cool stuff in them. Every single filler episode? Not canon. Yashahime is no different just cuz a group of weirdos wanna see a 13 year old marry a grown man.

“This era is just filled with nasty things, isn't it? You can't do anything about that. And since you're both half demons I'm sure you'll have to face many more of them along the way. Oh yes, you'll run into demons that will try to make your life difficult. Just because you're the daughters of Sesshomaru. [...] Towa, Setsuna.  You both have grown up to be so strong. Your father is so proud of you. I know he is.”

Pokemon: we made the darkest Pokemon game ever, Legends Arceus, where wild Pokemon will try to knock you out, you're forced to work or die in the wild, you're stripped away from your home and everything you love, and you're forced to live in a strange and uninhabited land. Don't worry, you'll be able to befriend the Pokemon, befriend the locals, and just maybe you'll make it :)
Digimon: hold my beer, because I'm about to toss 8 kids and a grandpa into an unfamiliar world, kill a few of them on screen very painfully with no room for misinterpretation, and psychologically scar the shit out of them AND the player

Spy x Family is currently trending on Twitter and the official account surpassed 700k followers with just 7 episodes. Yashahime after 2 years is highly unpopular, criticized by everyone but Sessrinners (they know they're shit who support shit but can't say it out loud without losing face with us) for grooming implications and shallow plot, trended solely when InuKag and Moroha had an important moment and the official Twitter account loses followers day by day, no idea if ppl are simply unfollowing or Twitter systems are erasing Sessrinners fake accounts 🤣🤣🤣
In short, Yashahime is indeed simple bitch shit 💀

Still laughing at those delusional statements from Sessrinners claiming that Trashahime was as much as popular as One Piece, Attack on Titan or Demon Slayer. I just went on Twitter and if you visit the official accounts of Yashahime and Spy x Family (a series with an healthy adult/child dynamic, no father figure is gonna impregnate the child daughter in the next future), even there the popularity gap is huge between the two. The Yashahime account after two years and two anime seasons barely reaches 175.481 followers, while the Spy x Family account after a few weeks and just 5 episodes being aired already reaches 595.404 followers (the number is increasing while I'm writing this). Also if you consider the most popular posts of each account, the gap is incredible even there (also Sessrinners are well known for their multiple accounts). Just came across a Spy x Family post with more than 133k likes. As everyone can see healthy family dynamics always win over pedophilia.
ps: Spy x Family is currently trending on Twitter, the show basically treands every week compared to Yashahime that solely trended when Inukag + Moroha had an important scene.
Dealing with these people feels like living in "1984". Figures and facts mean nothing to them, or we wouldn't be forced to endure hearing ludicrous statements such as "Yashahime is just as popular as Attack on Titan".

Canon - Cultural Differences
What is Canon? "a collection or list of sacred books accepted as genuine." Originated from religious texts then it was used in Fiction which became more known especially as a Western concept. "The Politics of Film Canon" by Janet Staiger in 1985 https://www.jstor.org/stable/1225428
Canon in Western VS Japanese Media Mod Esther Esther Xiao Jia Jia: “There is no such thing as canon in Japan, so anything that approved by Rumiko is considered as official. Japanese and other non Anglospheric fans take something with huge similarities as a part of a group, rather than separating it because of differences. Canon is merely a term that created by Anglospheric fans”
Well-known Naruto translator OrganicDinosaur speaks about the subject of "Canon" https://twitter.com/OrganicDinosaur/status/1101961667397763074 They said: "A lot of people ask me about distinguishing what’s considered ‘canon’ or not, but honestly it’s a Western concept. I rarely encounter media disclaimers that say 公式設定 (Official Setting) or 二時創作 (Derivative Work) when it comes to delineating products/anime/manga/novels.
Certainly, I haven’t seen a staff interview where they explicitly use these terms when it comes to Boruto. In general, I tend to notice that JP fans accept all mediums as part of the real timeline. Contradictory events are basically still accepted that it “happened”… Somehow.
I spent two hours today talking to some of my JP friends and they were completely surprised about how much Western fans nitpick individual anime episodes and novels for how ‘canon’ they are. They never realized fans could “reject” particular parts of a franchise. 😂"
What Sunrise thinks is Official https://otakurevolution.com/content/gundam-what-sunrise-thinks-is-official “Watanabe: Regardless of whether it’s part of the formal mythology or something that Sunrise oversaw, the basis of what counts as “official” is whatever is in the footage. “
InuYasha Yashahime Translator Ayuuria speaks on the subject https://ayuuria.tumblr.com/post/640974253932560384/is-it-true-that-yashahime-isnt-canon-because "Rumiko-sensei is actually more involved in the series than we realized. I’m currently translating the Livedoor News Interview and it gives a lot of insight on the writing and creation process of the anime. I should have that done next week. Canon is more of a Western term. I personally consider it canon but to each their own. From what I’ve seen, the JP fandom has been mostly supportive."
I asked Ayuuria what word Hideyuki Tomioka used for "canon" at Anime Boston 2018 for the InuYasha Panel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acn1q9X30qs "He didn't really use a word for canon so to speak. He said Gensaku which means the original/source work (aka the work the anime is based off of)"
What the word “canon” actually means (Japan vs The West) https://fuck-yeah-gruvia.tumblr.com/post/622928679634386944/what-the-word-canon-actually-means-japan-vs-the "There is not a one-to-one translation for “canon” in the Japanese language, as it is a very western concept. However, they do have their own word for it, which is the actual definition of canon. In Japan, the word for canon is 公式 (kōshiki/official). But their perception of what constitutes official is different than that of the west."
The Story in Which Doosh Taught Hiro Mashima the Word, “Canon" https://koori-mizu.tumblr.com/post/167038684341 dooshiedoosh: "The Japanese Kodansha staff asked what we called it in America, so I flipped over the sign and showed them “Gruvia is canon.” What followed, is Mashima asking the translator what the word “canon” meant. I ended up replying, “official, together, real couple in the story.”"
Masahiro Ito dislikes Westerners always pushing the idea of "Canon" https://twitter.com/adsk4/status/1263288565980475392 "I hate the word "canon" they use frequently. :-] I really really really hate the people who always push his idea on other people." He also explains the four endings of Silent Hill are all "canon" the official endings or else they would not have made them. https://twitter.com/adsk4/status/1653201608556306433
Maromi Ika talks about the drama of Antis VS Proshippers https://twitter.com/maromi_ika/status/1626242873715998723 "I hate to have to tell you this story, but I have decided that I need to explain it in English because some people keep harassing me and my followers It is very long and in English using a translator, so some of the intent may not be understood, but please be sure to read it all First of all, I am Japanese and live in Japan. The idea or concept of Propshipper does not exist in Japan. All that is required to publish a work in Japan is zoning, and in fiction, all depictions are allowed, and It is considered an ugly act to speak ill of someone's work, no matter what their taste is. Some people advise me to block the person you are following because he/she is a proshipper. I do not discriminate against them as long as they are properly zoned. That is the rule in Japan"
Westerners and Easterners see the world differently
Source -
Chinese and American people see the world differently – literally. While Americans focus on the central objects of photographs, Chinese individuals pay more attention to the image as a whole, according to psychologists at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, US.
“There is plenty of anecdotal evidence suggesting that Western and East Asian people have contrasting world-views,” explains Richard Nisbett, who carried out the study. “Americans break things down analytically, focusing on putting objects into categories and working out what rules they should obey,” he says.
By contrast, East Asians have a more holistic philosophy, looking at objects in relation to the whole. “Figuratively, Americans see things in black and white, while East Asians see more shades of grey,” says Nisbett. “We wanted to devise an experiment to see if that translated to a literal difference in what they actually see.”
The researchers tracked the eye-movements of two groups of students while they looked at photographs. One group contained American-born graduates of European descent and the other was comprised of Chinese-born graduate students who came to the US after their undergraduate degrees.
Each picture showed a striking central image placed in a realistic background, such as a tiger in a jungle. They found that the American students spent longer looking at the central object, while the Chinese students’ eyes tended to dart around, taking in the context.
Harmony versus goals
Nisbett and his colleagues believe that this distinctive pattern has developed because of the philosophies of these two cultures. “Harmony is a central idea in East Asian philosophy, and so there is more emphasis on how things relate to the whole,” says Nisbett. “In the West, by contrast, life is about achieving goals.”
Psychologists watching American and Japanese families playing with toys have also noted this difference. “An American mother will say: ‘Look Billy, a truck. It’s shiny and has wheels.’ The focus is on the object,” explains Nisbett. By contrast, Japanese mothers stress context saying things like, “I push the truck to you and you push it to me. When you throw it at the wall, the wall says ‘ouch’.”
Nisbett also cites language development in the cultures. “To Westerners it seems obvious that babies learn nouns more easily. But while this is the case in the West, studies show that Korean and Chinese children pick up verbs – which relate objects to each other – more easily.
“Nisbett’s work is interesting and suggestive,” says John Findlay, a psychologist specialising in human visual attention at Durham University, UK. “It’s always difficult to put an objective measure on cultural differences, but this group have made a step towards that.”
Nisbett hopes that his work will change the way the cultures view each other. “Understanding that there is a real difference in the way people think should form the basis of respect.”

sessrinners will get karma if their actions are exposed by bullying and doxed
Nah, fam, we don't work with bullying or doxing around here. And even if we did, it wouldn't be necessary. Karma already bit sinners in the ass.
They spent two years yelling about how Sessrin was popular... only to see Yashahime's views drop the exact second Sunrise made it happen, losing just enough money so that it had to merge with other company.
They screamed that the show was now about the Sessrin family... only to see Sunrise giving all the actual emotional, affectionate scenes to Inuyasha, Kagome and their daughter while their ship was given shallow, cold and short interactions the few times they even shared the same frame.
They insisted Inukag wasn't as relevant as Sessrin... just to see them being used as promotional bait time and time again and the show only trend when they were in the episode.
They acted like Yashahime was the best thing to ever happen to mankind... only to see the animation and the writing getting dragged episode after episode by the critics.
They tried to convince us that there was nothing wrong with their ship and that it was approved and intended by Takahashi... only to hear her say Sesshomaru was nothing but Rin's legal guardian, the producers state that they didn't know how to write the relationship because it wasn't in the manga and many other people express how uncomfortable they were with the pairing.
They told us Sessrin was heavily accepted in the fandom... only to be faced with a massive backlash when the identity of the twins' mother was revealed.
They said that Rin was an adult... only to have Sunrise drawing her as a teen who looks younger than her 14 years old daughters, giving them nothing but kid Rin merch, juxtaposing child Rin and Sesshomaru scenes with romantic Inukag scenes, tracing a direct parallel between Rin and the villain's 14 years old daughter, changing the timeline a thousand times, making Jaken have to expressly state that she was 18 at the time she got pregnant... not to mention that one producer who actually said Rin was just "a little bit" older and that he asked her VA to keep her child self in mind.
They got it in their heads that Sesshomaru was this caring brother, husband and father who actually had a master plan to save the day and knew what he was doing all along while Rin was this girl boss, goddess queen... only to get hit with Sunrise showing him as a selfish bastard who doesn't give a flying fuck to his family and Rin being a plot device yet again, with the two of them displaying the exact same dynamic they always had since she was a child.
They forced this show as canon... only for the fandom to collectively ignore it completely and refuse to accept it.
They scolded Inukag shippers for demanding justice for the characters of the original show and for Moroha... only to have to do the same thing for their ship because in the end of the day they got jackshit but the fact that an official Inuyasha source made Sessrin happen.
And now there are only two options for them: to admit that we have been right or pretend that they're happy with what they got. Honestly, they don't need to be exposed or made fun of, because everything they do, every situation they purposefully put themselves into is already a prank in and on itself.
In fact, if the ship was just a little bit less disgusting and its shippers a little bit less annoying I'd actually feel inclined to pity them.

Now what?!!! Sessrinners are trying to make that shitty Hisako Sato edit go for an official scene from Yashahime?!!! 🤪🤡🤣 First: official scenes are solely scenes that belong to the anime and pretty sure no episode included such a thing. Second: if Shitrise wanted that scene to be considered official they'd have posted it on their Twitter account with their own logo, not on Hisako Sato's Twitter and with her logo. Third: Hisako Sato's as much as delusional and butthurt about her pedo ship getting no content in the series as her fellows Sessrinners. Fourth: given how it's her fanart, Hisako Sato could've drawn Rin any way she wanted but guess what? Her choice is still to draw her as a 10yo child and not as an adult woman. The only appeal of the ship to their depraved fans is specifically Rin being a child so I wasn't expecting nothinh different tbh 🤷‍♀️🤡😏
If there’s anything the JK Rowling and MCU controversies have taught us, it’s that it’s more than acceptable, valid and even encouraged to ignore anything the creator of a property says or tries to make official if it’s problematic.
And Sato isn’t even a creator 😂

“They retconned Rin’s age-”
No, you’re just really bad at math. I’m really bad at math too. I failed Math 080 four times in college. But I never made being bad at math a central part of my online identity for a year.
This timeline was made during season 1 since around the time of the big reveal. People figured out this timeline very easily and very quickly by counting backwards from the year 2020 (presumingly when Yashahime takes place) to do some math to figure out what was her age roughly.
“The wiki is being run by sessrinners/they gave into sessrin demands-” the Inuyasha wiki’s staff is so hostile to this ship that they preferred having her listed as a teen mom at the age of 14 for over a year until they were forced to acknowledge canon. This was a phenomenon unique to the ENG wiki. RT rarely states character ages and often leaves it ambiguous or for the reader to figure it out (not as hard as when it’s like in the modern settings with teenagers): the Spanish wikia for example was always more honest that most Inuyasha characters have ages that are guestimated and from other sources that are not strictly canonical (there was something from a German phamplet for movie 3 that had her age as 7 or 6, I think?) and stated that Rin’s age was probably around 18 at time of birth. This was a problem that existed within the English wikia that was not a major problem in all other sections of the fandom.
And ftr, I still don’t think that the wiki still has correct ages up for Rin and Hisui. It feels like a last-ditch effort to try to hastily correct themselves and are STILL playing around with acting like they know most character’s ages, when something like (Presumed) next to most of them would be better. As of this point Kagome, Kohaku, the yashahime, and Rin are the only Inuyasha characters with absolutely confirmed ages by canon. Rin is clearly still younger than Kohaku, so I don’t know what the hell that wiki is trying to do with that now.
The point is: Rin being 18 was never a retcon. There was a line in episode 15 that threw some people off that was later cleared up in the episode’s official description, but the reality is this was never a retcon.
You do not need to like it, you do not need to like the ship: you do not need to like Yashahime at all! Curate your own fandom experiences! I don’t even like S1 that much despite how much of an influence it had on me!
But, to call it a retcon because you were bad at math is dumb.
