I love Rakna Kadakis design so imagine my disappointment when I unlocked her armor and it was giving kitschy, discount Vaal Hazak.
Design rant under the cut:
Rakna Kadakis Monster Design is clearly based on traditional Japanese wedding dress. So I was really disappointed by her lackluster armor design.
It has a very cheap and kitschy feel to it, which isnt helped by the tacked on roses and rubbery looking spider silk.
Rakna Kadakis Armor runs into a similar problem as some other Monster Hunter armors, I find. Where the armor isnt borrowing enough visually from the Monster its supposedly made of (often times its the color scheme that suffers) and in this case its both.
I'm guessing they went with a western bridal design since Mizutsunes Armor is already based on the Shiromuku but i feel like A: that theres enough visual differences between the Monsters and B: I have enough trust left in the designers that they probably couldve made it feel unique from Mizu.
Raknas Armor design is a missed oppurtunity in my book because the designers didnt cash in on either angle that couldve been taken with this design.
Angle 1: as we've already discussed, is the Shiromuku. It wouldve fit like a glove since Rakna Kadakis Hood already looks like a Wataboshi and her two front legs give off the same feel as long kimono sleeves.
(I feel the need to note that I am not japanese, so my interpretation might still be flawed despite my utmost efforts to get the Shiromuku right. I referenced both the Mizutsune Armor and Chihirohowe's guide about Ofurisode as best as I could)
Angle 2: Especially with a spider design to me, always screams, Bustle Gowns! While not explicitly bridal related, it still wouldve worked better to capture the overall feel of a spiders silhouette. Additionally, it's not like people didnt get married during the Bustle gown Era. I will admit that the Bonnet I used probably(?) wasnt in fashion anymore during the 1870 but not using a Bonnet as an alternate take for Rakna Kadakis Hood is a bigger missed opportunity me thinks. I tried to make both versions as such that the spidersilk hides the hard chitin that the entire body is covered in. So that the wearer looks softer and appears more harmless.
I'm kissing you with tongue if you're reading this, thanks for listening to my thoughts <3

you put a move on me - Naruto - Uchiha Sasuka/Hyuuga Hinata - drabble series for SasuHina Month 2021
Summary: When he steals her away from her entourage for ransom, he ends up with something more valuable than money can buy. SasuHina AU
[Rating: G | Prompt: Hanami: The Flowers of the Season | Word Count: 200 | Warnings: None]
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Author's Note: Our first 200 word drabble! If you're wondering why every 4th chapter will be 200 words... it's because I couldn't edit this down to 100 words and I wanted consistency, so. There you go.
Enjoy!
Day 4: Spring Hanami: The Flowers of the Season
Hinata doesn't know how long they've been on the run. The days and nights blur together as he drags her to wherever he's headed. She left her ofurisode somewhere between their first campsite and their second. Her furisode, dirtied with mud from melted snow, was cast aside somewhere in the little village where they stopped for supplies.
He stole a plain kimono for her to wear for the rest of their journey.
In the village, she saw the townspeople prepare for a festival. Soft cherry blossom petals fluttered around her and her eyes widened. It's the beginning of spring.
Sasuke noticed her hesitancy as he pulled her around the village. He used his Sharingan to cast a genjutsu on the shop owner to make them think he paid for his captive's kimono. If she had an issue with that, she didn’t show it.
Sasuke threw an annoyed look at the woman. He followed her gaze to the falling cherry blossoms. There wasn't anything special about the flowers this season. Tugging harder on her hand, he pulled her through town.
"Come on," he said gruffly. "We're wasting time."
With one last look at the cherry blossoms, Hinata turned, following her captor.

Regal cherry blossoms themed outfit, put together by Cera una Volta
This attire is fit for a princess, from the soft color scheme, to the shibori ofurisode and obiage, and the thick obijime (this style called maruguke is now usually worn by brides)

Asian Clothing Figurines Review
Asian Clothing: Japanese Kimono
Kimono Type: Furisode: Ofurisode
Accuracy Rating: 3.5/5
Explanation: Pretty good overall. The amount of flare at the hem is strange to me, as are the choice of obi musubi (for a young women wearing an obviously formal kimono) and the simultaneous use of fancy obijime knots and obidome.

Asian Clothing: Japanese Kimono
Kimono Type: Furisode: Ofurisode
Accuracy Rating: 5/5
Explanations: Despite the amount of movement in the figure, it’s actually a very accurate modern kimono ensemble! Very formal ensemble for New Years, the colors are quite lovely and the red obi is a lovely contrast. No negatives at all!

Asian Clothing: Japanese Kimono
Kimono Type: Furisode: Ofurisode
Accuracy Rating: 2/5
Explanation: UGH!!! Such a waste of potential! Immediate negatives include the low open neckline, the vacuum suction of the kimono to her backside, and the confusing inclusion of both an ohashori and an open trailing hem. On the positives, the rose musubi is gorgeous, the kimono color/ pattern is very well designed, and the details on the obi front is very nicely detailed.

Asian Clothing Figurines Review
Asian Clothing: Japanese Kimono
Kimono Type: Furisode: Ofurisode
Accuracy Rating: 4.5/5
Explanation: Very lovely winter ensemble. The black hair, gloves, and scarves make an interesting contrast to the bright yellow ombre of the furisode. Solid use of color theory in dip dyed violet hem, deep purple obijime, and lilac chrysanthems. The polka-dotted obiage tied in a bow is a cool modern element and the classic red nagajuban is a nice touch. My only real issue is her trailing hem. She's clearly wearing an ohashori, which means she’s already picked up the excess kimono, so why is it partially trailing on the ground? Very sloppy.
