(This is very messy but I assure you, I cleaned it up from what it was. my brain does not think linear when it spirals so i had to move everything around haha.)

a time travel fic but it’s luke and the guys going back to the 90s and living (just barely)

they all go back to when they were supposed to have died but this time live.(that includes Willie who died in like…in 94 originally. he buys a ticket for their orpheum show. hoping that they also go back to their og time and don’t die and they don’t but since they are still hospitalized, it takes a bit to get the willex reunion) but luke has memories of being dead and julie and he knows that magic/ghosts are real so he tries to find a way back to the future.

all the while he’s been looking to for ways to go back forward, alex and reggie are just making do. Sunset Curve is on hiatus which is ruining everything they worked towards before the orpheum but things cant be as they were with what they know. that Bobby is capable of being a poopy human, Alex’s parents weren’t cool. Reggie’s were also not great to be around. The band is family and julie is a part of that now. honestly, luke making up with his parents would be the main thing probably keeping them in the 90s, but maybe he’d like. make amends but then be like. I know what i need and it’s not here. “you’ve always raised me to fight for what i want and to get that, i have to leave” or something

They find a way back to the future but alive this time, and when they arrive, the the year is 2020 and they immediately go searching for julie. only it’s not the same time of year that they originally met her and it’s later in the year and she never had her revelation to stay and they’ve moved. though, instead of selling the house, Ray decides to rent it out so they have to sleuth (aka learn how to smartphone) to find her. Willie would have the knowledge of 2020 so he’d help them know to buy a pay as you go phone from Wal-mart or something. (they brought all of their savings with them) so they have to find julie, only she doesn’t remember them because they didn’t die and become ghosts. the first meeting is awful because they don’t realize she doesn’t remember them at first and Willie is the one to jump in all “they thought you were my cousin, sorry for the confusion” and drags them away before the scenario can brand it’s way into her brain they have figure out how to casually casually infiltrate her life so that she can start healing and they can be a band, a family, again. basically they have to help her find music again... again.

to luke’s chagrin, it’s reggie or alex that get them in the door At some volunteer thing, Reggie tries to bond via crafts and glitter and is hella awkward trying not to give it away and Julie is like “teenage boys do be awkward sometimes” but the glitter shaker lid is clogged so he takes the lid off and turns too quicikly and BOOM glitter all over the both of them. and Alex who had just left for a second comes over and starts apologizing for his friend and attempts to help julie clean up. (they leave reggie to sort himself out. but he’s happily a sparkly boy and clueless when julie makes a twilight joke) and that really just breaks the ice for friendship

and then Julie’s like “are you on insta?”

but alex is like “uh. maybe?” and then he reaches into his fanny pack and pulls out their cheap smart phone and he’s obviously not used to it so while she waits, she asks reggie the same thing

and he’s like “Alex? do i have that?”

and that’s how it comes out that they are sharing a phone. then she realizes that these guys are probably runaways, living on the streets. Julie asks to meet their two friends not with them and that’s how she meets luke and willie officially. and luke is grumpy a la “it’s not the strip” because he had a taste of something more with Julie and he has to start it all over so he’s just… bouncy. can’t sit still Julie thinks they are strange boys that act kinda like they know her but don’t go to her school or anything and it’s weird but it’s starting to feel weird at how not weirded out she is by them. She doesn’t know why but there is something about these boys. and she wants to help them, so she sneaks them into her mom’s old studio. (it’s either still not in use, or it’s off limits to the renters)

queue the montage of hanging out and growing closer and suddenly having the courage to play the piano again. Luke being her number 1 cheerleader. writing with her, growing closer. and despite knowing that they felt the same for each other before, he’s HELLA nervous that things have changed this time around. the stuttering is twice as bad whenever he attempts to bring it up and Julie finds it adorable.

also “YOU HAVE FOUR BOYS HIDING OUT IN YOUR STUDIO?!?!” “Shhh flynn! not so loud, would ya?”

I had a super weird dream and turned it into a story!

Basically it is a JATP AU where Luke was the only one who died, bobby had something to do with it, Luke has a sister who was the og pianist and her name was Emma-Rose. They all still stole Luke's songs and got famous but Reggie and Alex feel guilty. ER (Lukes lil sis) thinks that Luke never cared for her and only cared about music (little did she know she was his biggest inspiration). Julie's mom is alive but is usually away touring with her band, ray is her step-dad and carlos her half-brother and her bio dad was a super famous spainish rock star who was also in a rock band. He and his bestie (who was the drummer and co-songwriter) died and their band mates stole their music and got rich of it. Ray was his friend (he didn't have anything to do with the music stealing.) Julie was really young when her dad died but still remembers him and has not done anything music-related since was 4-5 years old. Sunset Curve and Inferno's Symphony (julie's dad's band) are signed by the same company. Carrie and Julie used to date but then Carrie betrayed Julie by stealling some of the secret songs her dad left for her and got popular of it and they've been beefing ever since. Flynn and Julie met and started dating soon afterwards but then decided to stay besties instead. Willie is still dead but he spends his time "haunting" alex and skateboarding in his empty pool (alex can see and hear willie and thinks his guilt is driving him crazy and has an empty pool because he's afraid he's going to fall in and drown).

WHICH LEADS TO THE DISCUSSION of how tf anyone is believing Julie (a 15-17 year old girl) is projecting holograms of dead people singing original songs with only help from Flynn ANOTHER 15-17 year old girl

here’s the thing tho. Trevor Wilson is famous, meaning Carrie is famous by association, MEANING JULIE AND FLYNN WERE WELL KNOW BY ASSOCIATION

guys

sunset curve at thirteen years old

bobby, reggie and alex are doing a star wars themed jigsaw puzzle while luke doodles in his writing journal. they are not looking at each other but they are having a conversation still.

“they’re just not that fun.” luke insists, scribbling a little harder to shade in the line of the lollipop he drew.

bobby replies with a snort. “okay, whatever you say.”

“jigsaw puzzles are great.” alex joins the conversation before handing bobby a piece. it was a 500 piece puzzle and they had bought it at the mall in some sci-fi store. reggie practically swooned at it.

“you sound like a grandma.” luke cackled, before flipping over a page in his song journal. he wanted to color and doodle in the pages to make it more personal.

“an educated grandma. this shit can raise your IQ by four points.” alex takes a puzzle piece and lodges it in luke’s hair which earns a scoff from bobby. he took puzzles very seriously.

luke ruffles his hair and finds the piece before throwing it at alex. it really ends up behind him but no person really cared. they would search for it later.

“do you think i care about my IQ?” luke asks.

“you should.” alex responds, before plugging in a piece into the puzzle, the image gradually becoming clearer.

“luke, why are you arguing with a gifted kid on this topic.” reggie finally speaks. he got quiet when he was heavily interested in stuff. this was one of those times.

“because he’s still a dumbass at heart. him being in two different gifted classes doesn’t mean shit.” luke shrugs.

despite luke’s nonchalantness, alex still found himself very offended. “luke, im NOT the dumbass here.”

“are you sure?”

“to be honest you are kinda of a dumbass”

“yeah.”

luke, bobby, and reggie added their inputs one after another.

“HOW DID THIS TOPIC GET FLIPPED ON ME??” alex cried, flipping his hands in the air which caused bobby to let out another seething sound. the table shook and all of the boys would’ve had heart attacks if the puzzle got ruined now. they were on a steady roll.

Autistic!Reggie Headcanons

Because I have no self control

Reggie is level 2 ASD (autism spectrum disorder) so he's in the middle, not too severe not too mild either

Like most children Reggie was diagnosed in his early childhood years at around 2 years old

Specifically because his parents noticed he wasn't hitting milestones like the other kids in the neighborhood, e.g struggling to walk and learning to speak

He also got extremely attached to a toy horse that he named Henry, didn't go anywhere without it

Growing up for Reggie was hard as his parents were still learning how to raise an autistic child and he didn't have a lot of support

He didn't have many if any friends either because of his limited speech

As well as not understanding/acknowledging social cues

He struggled understanding other people's feelings so he was very honest and blunt at times

He also finds it fun to copy/use different expressions he hears from people

It took him forever to try and speak to Luke, Alex and Bobby but once he managed he got attached to them too

The boys thought it was cool that Reggie noticed specific details, patterns or changes that others don't figure out

And that he can focus on one thing for a long period of time

They didn't realize that Reggie was autistic until Alex made a sarcastic comment and Reggie didn't get it so he took it seriously

Bobby called him dumb cause it was just sarcasm

Reggie slowly explains that his autism makes it difficult to understand sarcasm and jokes

They never call him dumb ever again

I just noticed how long this is gonna get so I might make a part 2 to save people the long post

hello amazing fans of JatP. I have thought of a sad au(?) idea and now I’m going to share it bc I’m sad. Please mind the TWs and let me know if I need to tag something else.

TW: Food, Vomiting, Mention of Blood, Character Death, Suicide (Hot Dogs)

AU: Bobby dies and becomes ghosts with the other phantoms

How does he die? Well...

Bobby doesn’t say with Rose. He leaves with the boys because he’s the one with the brain cell and he knows better than to let those three wander off before a show.

He’s not going to for the hotdogs bc vegetarian but he doesn’t mind just sitting there with them.

All is good, all is fine, until Alex starts choking, Reggie starts throwing up, and Luke can’t catch his breathe. Bobby starts panicking but thankfully, someone calls 911. It should be fine. Everything is going to be fine.

But it’s not.

Bobby can see his friends slipping away. And he starts spiraling. He can’t lose them. He knows that. They were all he had.

While he’s spiraling, his eyes fall on one of the discarded hotdogs. At this point, Bobby is too far in his head, he isn’t thinking clearly. The only thing going through his head is ICan’tLoseThem-

He picks up the hotdog and takes a giant bite. It’s gross and disgusting and he’s eating meat- and he almost throws up from that realization alone. But he forces it down and takes another bite.

One of the boys notices it (probably Alex bc I headcanon them as being like, childhood friends and I want the hurt) and it’s the weak, dying whisper of “Bobby...” that makes him stop. But it’s to late.

When the ambulance arrives, Bobby had already starting throwing up blood but he fights the medics, still terrified of being saved and losing the boys. All three of them die before Bobby, but he still follows. He’s gone before the ambulance reaches the hospital.

Now, he’s stuck in the dark room with his boys and it’s fine. They’re together. Everything is fine. Until-

“Bobby what the hell did you do?”

Ok I don't know if anyone said this already but!

**prepare for angst**

Imagine Luke singing I'll be Home for Christmas.

We know he ran away around Christmas time, and for the purposes of this let's pretend that we know for sure it was before Christmas happened.

So Luke is in the studio on Christmas eve on his own because the other boys have to be with their families.

(whether it's worth it or not is another question... (Reggie's parents lasted through saying grace for the first time this year but that's about it, Alex's parents are not talking to him but he still knows he has to go to the night time church service, Bobby is having a good Christmas but he can't stop thinking about his brothers/bandmates and how horrible their Christmas' must be))

So Luke is in the studio messing around with his guitar when he accidentally (subconsciously) stumbles across the chord progression for I'll be Home for Christmas. Of course he starts singing along to it without really thinking but then it hits him. For the first time ever, he won't be home for Christmas. And he won't be for who knows how many more Christmases in the future. He doesnt know how long it will take to make his parents see how important music is to him, how talented he is, how successful the band will be.

By the time he reaches the last line, there are tears streaming down his face and he can barely sing because he's so choked up. But he forces out, "I'll be home for christmas, if only in my dreams." before disolving into tears on his couch and sobbing into the cushions. He was glad that the people they rent the garage from were on vacation, or else they definitely would have heard him.

Luke was *this* close to going home that night, but he didn't. Unfortunately, that was the last Christmas where he would have had the chance, seeing as after they returned as ghosts, nobody, other than Julie, could see them anymore.

The boys found him there on the couch in the afternoon on Christmas Day with tear stains dried on his cheeks. They didn't say anything about it, but when they hugged to thank each other for their Christmas presents, they all hugged each other a little tighter than usual. After all, they had all woken up with dried tear stains on their faces too.

i just realize there are some people who genuinely dislike Bobby (and i get it you know sometimes a character isn’t for you) but imma give a run down on my liking of the boy because i haven’t seen valid reasons to dislike

Whether you think he was close with the boys or not they wouldn’t have kept him around if he was an ass

Although Julie said he never mentioned the boys we don’t know any of the full story because of the limited point of view

Saying they didn’t interact in the Now or Never is dumb considering Luke turns to Bobby right after they finish and gives him a fist bump

Also Taylor Kare said there is a lot more that you didn’t see so invalid argument

Some of y’all were sympathizing with Caleb during the first couple months of the fandom and i’m pretty sure just not crediting someone on some songs is child’s play to almost zapping them out of existence with intention

Bobby and Trevor in my opinion are different people Trevor is an ass but even I can see he cares about Carrie

You all literally only hate Bobby cause he stole their songs which is shitty obviously but there could be so many different reasons for it..and i’ve never seen one that justifies him doing it on purpose

“He didn’t sing in Now or Never” ok well the songs about living everyday til ur last if he sang and didn’t die the irony would be lost....however Taylor was super excited to do a musical and they didn’t even let him sing 😔

Overall I just think we can’t judge off of one piece of information because we have no proof obviously that works both ways which is why most of us never erase him stealing their songs we just give it a reason

Also most of you forget Julie is the main character half the time so maybe this is just something we do now

Anyway stan Bobby, Trevor is eh, Sunset Curve is not just the three white boys, and I want a redemption in season 2

Autistic!Reggie Headcanons

Part 2!!

After being told by Reggie about his Autism, Luke, Alex and Bobby all go to the library to read and research about it

Because they are good friends and they want to make sure they know all about it to be there for their goofy friend

One day Bobby gets a blanket for the garage because sometimes it gets cold in there and they aren't always practicing

Reggie went to pick it up to move it but as soon as he touches it he recoiled like he got burn

The others were confused but Alex mentioned that in one of the books he was reading sometimes certain textures don't feel right

"It's the same with certain foods right?"

"Yes Luke it's the same with some foods"

Reggie tears up because his friends researched for him

Reggie also likes to ramble about subjects he likes and when he gets super excited he starts to stutter a bit but no one has ever minded

Normally it's about bass playing, Star Wars or science

Reggie often spins the ring on his finger or with small objects on the table, he also paces a lot when thinking about something

When he gets asked about it by Bobby he mentions it called stimming and that it's self-stimulating behaviors, usually involving repetitive movements or sounds

The boys think it's kinda cute

Reggie normally doesn't have much of a problem when it comes to noises but

When his parents are fighting it becomes to loud and he starts trying to block it out with his hands against his ears

His senses become overly sensitive in situations like that

Much like one time where he went out to the mall with the guys he got lost and everything started getting too loud and the lights were too bright and there were so many people

Alex finds him trying to calm himself in such a busy situation alone and in situations like this touch doesn't help

So Alex stood in front of him to get his attention

It worked

They all decided to get pizza that afternoon

Sometimes when Reggie is nonverbal he uses sound, signs and gestures to communicate with other people
