Raccoon in a strange house - pg. 1

Działo się to podczas pewnej deszczowej nocy. Samotny szopi wędrowiec w przydużym (bo robionym pod ludzkie dzieci) płaszczu przeciwdeszczowym i z plecakiem pod tym płaszczem (przez co mógł nieco sprawiać wrażenie garbatego) szedł pod brudnożółtą parasolką z pętlą (na wypadek, gdyby musiał się schować pod parasolem, a miałby akurat łapy i ogon zajęte) mokrą, leśną ścieżką, opierając się kijem, do którego czubka przywiązano latarnię. Był już zmęczony i głodny, kiedy nagle uniósł wzrok ponad mgłę i ujrzał na pobliskim wzgórzu w świetle księżyca w pełni potężny dom, czy też dwór o szarozielonej elewacji. Domostwo to otoczone było wysokim płotem z drutem kolczasto-żyletkowym, z przodu budowli wyzierała weranda i ganek z żółtym daszkiem, a nad nimi niebieski balkon, zaś na lewo (z punktu widzenia obserwatora) stał garaż z omszałym dachem z pomarańczowej blachy falistej. Z czubka dachu wystawała wieża zegarowa zwieńczona piorunochronem, na którym to zamontowano wiatrowskaz. Niektóre okna były stłuczone, inne zabite deskami, w większości z opuszczonymi żaluzjami, a obok wieży wystawał bardzo cienki, ale wyjątkowo wysoki komin - raczej murowany, ale jego metalowy czubek zdawał się nieco przewyższać wieżę.

Zainteresowany szop zaczął grzebać w wewnętrznych kieszeniach swego płaszcza, podtrzymując ogonem laskę z lampą, aż w końcu wyciągnął zeń przewodnik turystyczny w zielonej okładce. Szybko go przewertował i okazało się, że ten tajemniczy dom od jakiegoś czasu jest opuszczony. Po chwili namysłu podróżnik uznał, że skoro tak, to nie będzie chyba problemu, jeżeli się tam wprowadzi, przynajmniej na noc, by trochę odpocząć przed wyruszeniem w dalszą drogę.

Translation:

It was during one rainy night. A lonely raccoon wanderer in a oversized (because made for human children) raincoat and with a backpack under this coat (which could make him appear a bit hunchbacked) was walking under a dirty yellow umbrella with a loop (in case he had to hide under an umbrella, and his paws and tail would be occupied) along a wet, forest path, leaning on a stick with a lantern tied to its tip. He was tired and hungry when he suddenly looked up above the fog and saw on a nearby hill in the full moonlight a mighty house or a manor with a gray-green facade. The house was surrounded by a high fence with barbed and razor wire, at the front of the building was a porch and porch with a yellow roof, and above them a blue balcony, while to the left (from the observer's point of view) was a garage with a mossy roof made of orange corrugated metal. A clock tower topped with a lightning rod, on which a weather vane was mounted, protruded from the top of the roof. Some of the windows were broken, others boarded up, most of them with shutters down, and a very thin but exceptionally tall chimney protruded next to the tower - rather brick, but its metal tip seemed to be slightly taller than the tower.

The interested raccoon rummaged in the inner pockets of his coat, supporting the lamp-cane with his tail, until he finally took out a green-covered tourist guide from it. He quickly looked through it and found that this mysterious house had been abandoned for some time. After a moment's thought, the traveler decided that if so, it would probably not be a problem if he moved there, at least for the night, to rest a bit before continuing his journey.
