the thing is, hashirama never offered to help izuna. i'm actually not sure he could have - the hiraishingiri pretty much cut through him like butter. moreover, while madara himself lauds hashirama's medical prowess, we actually know very little about his capabilities with medical ninjutsu. he could heal wounds without any hand seals, that's mostly all we know.

here are hashirama's words immediately after izuna is injured:

「マダラ・・・お前はオレには勝てない・・・もう・・・終わりにしよう・・・忍最強のうちはと千手が組めば・・・国も我々と見合う他の忍一族を見つけられなくなる・・・いずれ争いも沈静化していく」

"madara... you can't beat me... let's end it already. if the strongest shinobi, the uchiha and the senju, form an alliance... the country won't be able to find another shinobi clan able to counterbalance us... the conflict will eventually calm down"

he doesn't acknowledge izuna at all. whether he intended an offer of medical aid to be implied or not, it's never addressed. a bunch of people have claimed that this makes hashirama a jerk, and while i definitely get that viewpoint, i do think offering to help izuna without being absolutely certain he was capable of doing so would've been a terrible move, politically speaking. madara might have known that hashirama isn't the sort of man who would do something like this, but the rest of the uchiha clan would have no reason not to assume that hashirama didn't just take advantage of madara's kindness/trust/desperation/whatever to ensure that izuna died while potentially leaving room for madara to feel indebted to him for trying in spite of all the reasons he had not to bother.

hell, the clan might even come to the conclusion that madara intended for izuna to die so he could get his eyes, given what ended up happening in canon, so his fallout with them might actually happen even faster (and without the uchiha ever joining konoha at all, although without madara around to counter hashirama, i have no idea if/how the uchiha would manage against the senju from there)

all that aside, if hashirama had indeed offered help and izuna had agreed to take the risk and died anyway and the uchiha clan trusted that that was what had actually happened, i think pretty much everything else would've proceeded according to canon.

there's definitely plenty of fun possibilities to play around with concerning madara's path in life, but tbh i personally believe that without a massive deviation from canon, he would've eventually become who he became. hashirama definitely fucked up here and there, but i honestly don't think there was anything he could've personally done alone that would've changed madara's fate short of killing him back when they were kids, which he was never going to do. he was always doomed.

oh hell yeah, high five. i haven't posted any pictures in ages bc as my tank has reached a kind of insane unexpected equilibrium it's also become less photogenic, and i haven't wanted to disturb a stable system just to make it photograph better lol -- BUT recently i have been thinking about finally starting to fuss over it again, maybe add some new plants and some new shrimp to transition over as my current band of amanos reach the end of their lifespan, and maybe when i have that all brushed up i'll take u guys on a little tour again. (for the shrimp nerds who may be interested: i'm thinking about nabbing some neocaridinas, likely blue jelly + carbon rilli. it would be nice to have a self-sustaining colony, since obv the amanos can't breed in fresh water.)

Again not a dungeon meshi reader/watcher but every time I hear about that laois guy I get reminded of how my system had/has a hyperfixation on dragons so intense that we got that big fancy dragonology book and we treated it like the damn dragon Bible for like years

Now, obviously, we understand that there's different interpretations on mythical creatures, and no one interpretation on a dragon is necessarily gospel, but that multiple interpretations on the classic tale of beasts of scale and fire are completely valid and to be expected!

however if you call an Eastern dragon a coatl I'm going to come to your house and slaughter your family

#THEY'RE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT #yes they have similarities but coatls have WINGS typically and dont usually have other limbs. they're more serpentine birds #meanwhile Eastern dragons (Chinese depictions for example) don't typically have wings and are more lizard-like #like Mushu !!!!!!!! Mushu is an Eastern dragon #and then there's drakes and wyrms. which are entirely different bc they can't really fly #drakes are more like draconic horses or dogs. no wings but four limbs and a tail with a reptilian appearance #wyrms are more serpentine with no limbs and no wings. though i think some interpretations of wyrms give them like.. two forelimbs #then there's wyverns. wyverns have two legs and two wings instead of the typical eight limbs (four limbs two wings) #(i also perosnally hold true to the interpretation of wyverns with poisonous stingers for tails but that's just me cause i think its cool) #..... how much of this is just me talking abiut dragons #explodes. #oh yeah and obv there's the HTTYD interpretations which i adore! they're interesting #the designs are so fascinating and from what ive seen seem to have some science behind them #and arent just the typical western style of dragons. which nothing wrong with the western style it's a classic ofc #but it's still fun to see some variation!! #and ofc there's WOF #which holds true to Western dragons in simple anatomy but has its own variations and of course its own lore #then there's. fuck i forget the name but it's a fantasy story based in China i believe #i loved it so much it was so cool #anyways it had a dragon character named Seryu. it's fun to look through datamined stuff but I need some of you to stop getting mad at larian for scrapping ideas you thought were cool. cool doesn't mean it'll make sense in the overarching story, and maybe larian likes this version better, or sometimes ideas just didn't work well with what they had in mind. I know this first hand from writing stories, I'll have cool ideas but realize later it doesn't fit the original tone of the story. it's okay to scrap stuff, but you can always use it for something else.

also, like it or not, it's larians game first, their story, their characters (I know.), it doesn't matter if we think something is cool, the reality is that not everything works in the end. and that's fine. that's how all art is, it's alive and ever-shifting, it'll go through many, many, versions, to the point where you might get sick of chewing on the same plot, and in the end the final version might not be as good as you thought when you look back in a few months or years. and that's ok. art isn't supposed to be perfect.

everything is subjective and I think fandoms would be a more intellectual place if people learned to critique art for what it is not what it isn't.
