Thanks! It took me a while to be convinced on svv too haha, but I think what really cinched it for me was that collection of Agatha’s notes that went public last year--there’s some references to the svv procedure, and even with the Heterodyne family staying tight-lipped about the whole thing it was… very interesting to me that they even existed lol. So! Complicated question! SVV is still considered just a theory bc no one REALLY knows what went on in Castle Heterodyne during the Siege of Mechanicsburg--well, the Castle might know, assuming it didn’t happen during its documented shutdown, but its not talking either way. We have collections of notes that hint at it, though, and references in letters between the OT3 (I’m sorry if that sounds too “fandom” but “The Triumvirate” has always sounded kind of silly to me) also points towards it. HOWEVER… there’s the whole Fifty Families “if you die at all you’re out of the line of succession”, and the full theorized SVV procedure DOES require a kind of… rolling death, let’s say (trying not to get too technical here, lmk if I need to clarify something), so if SVV happened… well. That calls Tarvek’s inheritance of the Lightning Crown into question, and it just opens up a whole can of worms.

u know, im a history minor focusing on that time period, so when i first started getting into triumvirate rpf it was really surprising to me how accepted the svv theory was, especially among people who AREN’T trying to call tarvek’s legitimacy into question--maybe its bc it was popularized in girl genius, which is basically the first “fic” for this fandom (does a semi-fictional autobiographical radio show/book count as fic?). its just, like, people are willing to entertain the theory in more academic spaces (especially if you nab a spark who’s excited about the technical aspects), but there’s also this underlying current of “god, if we prove this then some moron is going to upset the current balance of power trying to insist that tarvek sturmvoraus wasnt a valid heir to the lightning crown”. when like. technically it doesnt actually MATTER, u know? valois didnt make the resurrection rule for his heirs, the fifty families made that shit up on their own.

God you have no idea how close I am to declaring a history minor just because of all the shit I’ve had to learn writing for this fandom. I agree that the Girl Genius stuff probably contributed a lot, but it IS important to remember that Kaja Foglio DID get first-person accounts from Agatha herself (though the later published/aired media was fictionalized to a degree. I would give my left arm to see her original class materials.), so I think that’s why we put so much weight on her stuff. Hard agree about how annoying the ~true heir to the Storm King~ debate can get. It infects EVERYTHING. Makes me want to bang my head against a wall.

I mean mr lancer is a Teacher, but he was also nice but this is different, but this is a GHOST WHO IS WILLING TO HELP HIM with his powers and also will help him when hes injured and is so so nice and comparatively so much more mature than 90% of the adults in this show!!!! god. dad frostbite is my everything.

-the framing and lighting this episode, and all the angles...they went all OUT and it looks really really good. this is my nightmare scenario, tho. like, FUCK zombies and dead city zones and hivemind shit. and using the humans as 'nutrients for the children' i am going to THROW UP.

Why do the fandom never doubt Namjoon’s heterosexuality?

I have been in the fandom for more than 3 years and one thing I have noticed is that if you ask an army who they think is the less likely to be lgbt they will most likely answer Namjoon.

I always wondered why and I took the time to observe and the anwser is pretty simple : cliché, stereotypes. 

Namjoon is not a touchy person. He doesnt touch the members a lot and don’t like being touched either. Thus, there are very few moments people deem "suspicious". His ships aren't even the most popular. There is Namjin but it's more a sideship than a main one.

He is also the most "masculine" (yeah i put " " because I hate this word and Yoongi too ^^). We could argue Jungkook is also "masculine" since he is pretty muscular and works out A LOT but the difference is he has mannerism that still put him in this stereotype box ( Namjoon has none, none that I have noticed yet), and his body structure is still less broad than Namjoon’s. 

He talks about loving babies and wanting kids. So much that there are rumors that he has a wife and kids. Gay people have long been stereotyped as people who don't want kids or even dislike them. People think that most gay people just gave up on having kids as soon as they ‘’’chose’’’ to be gay. Obviously, that’s a dumb way of thinking since you don’t chose your sexuality and wanting kids isn’t only for heterosexuals. Otherwise lgbt people all over the world wouldnt fight for the right to adopt kids, etc...

Now you must think “but he isnt the only one who talked about wanting/loving kids, he isnt the only one with muscles”. But the thing is most of the members fit a part of the stereotype just like I explained with Jungkook’s case. Jimin also talked about being a dad in the future but his mannerism and feminine side is all people remember. Taehyung also adores kids, but he also has mannerism. 

My goal isn’t to assume whether he is gay, bi or straight, or anything. What bothers me so much about everyone being so sure he is straight is that it’s all based on stereorypes. Those stereotypes are harmful. How many fem lesbians and masc gays heard “oh wow you don’t look gay!”. That’s far from being a compliment. Just like it’s not a compliment for a black person to receive remarks such as “oh wow you don’t act like most black people! you sound white.”

Namjoon is a very inclusive guy. I remember a radio interview and when the host said “fangirls are going crazy for you guys!”, Namjoon instinctively responded “fanboys too”. When asked about  crushes in another interview, he answered a female singer and a male singer. He might not be very expressive, not the way people expect from the stereotype of lgbt people but he is actually very inclusive. And people fail to notice that. 

One example of how the fandom act when it’s about Namjoon which is very telling. 

People found out Namjoon and this unkwown guy are sharing this shirt. The joke and speculation about them being together lasted a few hours and then everyone forgot and moved on. Meanwhile joke and speculation about Namjoon having a wife and kids have been going around for months and it doesnt seem like it will stop soon. People will brush off very easily anything that could imply he is gay and will only remember, keep talking about what they want to believe about him. Videos of him removing/hiding his ring (implying his supposed marriage) blow up everytime! 

The same goes for my profile picture. He looks pretty close to the mysterious man sitting next to him but who would even question anything. We all know the reactions would have been different if it was a woman. Proof is last year, after Namjoon tweeted a picture of him in a museum, a hunt (not a witch hunt tho, people weren’t angry just too curious) began when people noticed a woman taking his picture in the reflection of a mirror and speculation about her being his girlfriend went crazy to the point people thought it was a certain celebrity and she had to speak up on instagram and clarify it wasn’t her. 

Among the members, Namjoon is the most percieved through the lens of heteronormativity. And the way the fandom views him is something I hate the most.
