Chapter 1 of 4
Marinette has not been having the best few weeks lately. Akuma Attacks are becoming more frequent and violent, Luka has just been turned into an Akuma (again), and she is having to deal with a life-changing revelation (also again!?) that she should have been ignorant of for the next few years! But no. Her Ladybug luck just had to be with her as she opened her mother’s important documents drawer while in search of something significantly less important than what she did find! Her Maman only asked her to find her pearls, but what Marinette found were lies and significant emotional damage.
That happened weeks ago. She refuses to acknowledge it, so Sabine has no idea that Marinette knows, and honestly? Marinette would like to keep it that way. For as long as possible. Which might not be very long at all with the way this day is shaping up.
Luka Couffaine, an amazing boy who Marinette genuinely cares about and trusts as a friend and permanent member of Team Miraculous, has been akumatized into Truth (AGAIN! Can Hawkmoth be original? For once?) because she refuses to admit to being stressed and yes she was fine, Luka. There is no need to be worried. Now, he is gunning to expose her secrets. Starting with her classmates who are with them on the Liberty.
“What is Marinette’s biggest secret?” Truth demands, enforced by the magic eye-thing strapped to his back. Hawkmoth’s really pushing it with these Akuma designs lately. Like, the black with the blue assented suit is nice and the glowing three eyes are a cool touch. What Marinette draws the line at is the frEAKING HUGE HUMAN EYE THAT IS HANGING JUST BEHIND HIS HEAD. Safe to say, she is not impressed.
“Marinette has a crush on Adrien!” Each student yelled when hit by a beam of white-colored light. Right, the Akuma is trying to find her secrets and should be taken down without getting hit. She can do that. Also, this is exactly why she will not be sharing Ladybug's identity with you, Alya. Just because you are part of the Underground does not mean you are privy to all of the secrets.
“Everybody knows that! That’s not a secret!” Wow. Like... ow. Truth is just being mean at this point. Marinette can keep a secret! She has been Ladybug, Multimouse, and the Guardian for years with nobody finding out her civilian identity unless given permission. ALSO! She can confidently say that she has gotten over her crush on Adrien Agreste. Was it hard? Yes. Will Marinette always have a soft spot for the boy who was also her partner in cri- heroism? Absolutely. Did she realistically have time between being Ladybug, running the Underground as Multimouse, going to school, completing commissions as MDC, and helping her parents in the pâtisserie for a crush? No, she did not. The stress of doing so was actually the main motivator to let the crush go (unknowingly advised by said crush before the reveal).
Though it is a bit freeing to know that she now blushes, not from the reveal of her once crush on Adrien, but because everyone still believes she hasn't worked past it. Which... wow, that really says something. Something that Marinette will put on her "deal with later" list.
Oh no, Truth is looking at her. He must have heard her sigh. Fuck
“Ladybug, tell me your biggest secret!” he demands. If she was just a bit faster in hitting the deck, she wouldn’t have been hit on her right foot. was touched by the compelling laser. Double Fuck.
The distinct purple moth mask appears over the face of Truth. Hawkmoth was watching, the psychotic bastard. Marinette has run out of fucks to give. Three is too many.
“M’lady!” yells her partner, Chat Noir. He must have seen her get hit because he began to run at her, unbuckling his belt. Thank all that is good, for she had the same thought as Chat to use the belt as a gage. The problem with that idea is that it is assuming that he can get it to her before she spills any secrets. You know what they say, assume makes an ass out of u-and me.
Marinette could tell from the sudden tension on the boat that everyone on that boat, Hawkmoth, and the thousands of people watching on the live stream Alya's blog was hosting were waiting for the admission of her civilian identity. It was what made Chat Noir run faster. What made the students (and Hawkmoth) hold their breath. It was not, however, what was causing Marinette to go through three panic attacks at the same time. No, that went to the knowledge that written on her birth certificate, in the space that was for the name of the birth father, was Bruce FREAKING Wayne. Also, the adoption papers claim her as Tom Dupain’s daughter.
Her birth father wasn't the man who raised her! The man that she has grown up loving and hugging and bonding over video games with wasn’t her blood. The man who was her blood didn’t want her. And she knows this because she found no divorce or marriage certificates between her mother and Bruce Wayne: meaning he got her mother pregnant in a one-night stand or broke up with her as soon as he found out she was pregnant!
Then he went and adopted Richard Greyson only a few months after she was born, making her self-confidence dive off the Eiffel Tower! The emotional weight just got heavier as she researched, and Instagram/Twitter stocked her would-be-siblings in the weeks since she found out. They looked so happy and comfortable! Happiness she could have been a part of if she had reached some type of criteria her father had that the others did. Marinette is sure that she would get along super well with them, yet she couldn't be claimed as their sister when Bruce had so easily thrown her away.
Under no circumstances can she say all that as Ladybug, though. It could lead anyone curious enough to look to find out her identity. Good thing she knew Bruce Wayne was Batman. A startling realization at the time, but ultimately made sense. Didn’t make the feeling of inadequacy any better. Against her will, she opens her mouth and just barely finds the mental strength to switch the names Bruce Wayne and Batman before speaking.
“My father isn’t my father! My bio dad is Batman, and he abandoned me, and my mother doesn’t know that I know now... FUCK.”
Silence. Pure silence. Able-to-hear-a-pin-drop silence.
“...what?” The silence is broken. Chat stands stunned staring incredulously at Ladybug like everyone else on the boat, but with the added layer of actually knowing her civilian identity. If Marinette could see Hawkmoth right then, she would have seen the same state of shock as her classmates. The would-have-been-helpful belt lays limp in Chat’s hand as they all try to reboot their brains. Truth rebooted faster than the others.
“Why did he abandon you?” Ladybug, mentally screaming, couldn't move before the laser hit.
“The hell if I know, he left as soon as he found out my mom was pregnant!” An assumption on her part, but pitying and sympathetic looks come from her classmates anyway. Chat is still stunned. The chat on the live stream Marinette had forgotten about stops for a second before rapidly whizzing by with many expletives and shocked face emojis. This will hopefully be a moment to laugh at in a few days... oh Kwami, please.
“Do you resent him for it?” Ladybug tried to dodge, but her section of the boat was small and open. She got hit.
“Yeah, a little. He abandons me and my mom and then a few months after I was born, the first Robin comes into the picture. So, it kind of hurts.” At this point, the students are too invested to move, and it is safe to assume that Chat will not be of any help during this fight as he is too far gone.
“Are you jealous of the first robin?” Ladybug has no choice but to charge head-on and take the laser.
“I don’t think so. I’m more hurt by the fact that he continued to adopt more kids, but never came back for me. And STOP ASKING INVASIVE QUESTIONS!” He engages her in hand-to-hand combat that has her performing awe-inspiring acrobatics to get around the eye. She lands a solid punch to his liver that has him doubling over just as the next question is asked.
“Would you want a relationship with your siblings?”
“I have always wanted siblings, but I don’t know if I can even call them that since Batman didn’t choose me but chooSE THE OTHERS!” Her last words were yelled in exertion as she judo-flips Truth over her shoulder with impressive agility and core strength. She is quick to snatch the akumatized necklace and break it. Purifying the Akuma and Amok, Marinette looks to the sky and heaves a long-suffering sigh. “Holy FUCK Batman. Thank you for giving me the next topic of my therapy sessions.”
The French Government issued a blackout of all things Akuma-related at the beginning of this whole fiasco to keep from attracting the Justice League and their million-dollar guarantee solutions. It did not, however, withstand France's 64.6 million citizens working towards the same goal.
They loved Ladybug. Like they loved her. She is the hero that created the team they can always depend on to save the day anywhere in France! Much more than the Justice League who had ignored her repeated calls that were sent outside of France and the blackout (It was a busy week for reporters when their beloved heroin had gone public with the ignored request for help. Fuck you Green Lantern).
They loved her so much that to not only find out that Ladybug is the daughter of the American vigilante, detective extraordinaire, Batman, but that he also abandoned her, their displeasure will not go unheard. Every one of the thousands of people tuned into the Ladyblog’s live stream had saved it, cut it to manageable bits, and then sent it to everyone they knew on every internet platform they were on. 26 hours later, the rest of the world was calling for an explanation for the viral video that kept changing titles to not get deleted.
The French government had no choice but to lift the blackout.
As a result, the Ladyblog skyrocketed in viewership and recognition for its consistency in recording the Akuma fights (much to Alya’s delight and her friend's bemusement). Many viewers would just watch the saved live stream. More would watch the rest of the videos. News articles are read, websites visited, and people watched the Duo of Paris and, later, their Miracle Team take down villain after villain, day after day, battle after gruesome battle. With the Parisian public singing their praises, it wasn’t long before the rest of the world adored the Parisian Heros just as much as the locals - if not more so.
All that the world was waiting for at this point was the inevitable reunion of the "Batfamily" and the Justice League's response to the Heroes of Paris.

Hey Gale! Got an hypothetical question for you. Since we have now have team of 16 permanent Holders, if there was a fallout between Ladybug and Chat Noir about... let's say about whether or not revealing the truth about Gabriel to the public or not, who do you think would side with whom?
Do you consider there some of the Holders who could be "recruitable" to the cause or could switch side or prefer to remain neutral?
Oh so we doing Miraculous Civil war?!
Okay let’s do this.
Assuming everyone learns the truth. And it’s the fall out.
Let’s go down the list.
Rena Rouge: Easily Ladybug. She already knows and stays loyal
Carapace: Now you would think Chat noir, but he doesn’t know Chat noir is Adrien… and that’s why he would stay on Ladybug’s side because of Alya. Unless he finds out his homeboy is chat noir. But we can’t assume that. (Recruitable)
Vespara: Team Ladybug. Obvious reasons
Argos: Team chat noir, mainly because he hates Gabriel and finding out the truth that Marinette failed would have him lean towards chat noir
Ryuuko: You would think Ladybug, but Ryuuko knows some of the deal her mom made with Gabriel so I think She would be team chat noir in this case. (Sentibeing’s relate)
Viperion: He knows both identities and for that reason, I think he would abstain.
Bunnyx: Same as Viperion.
King Monkey: He would be team chat noir.
Pegasus: Also team Chat noir, because of what Gabriel has done to Markov.
Polymouse: Shockingly I think she joins Team Chat noir. Those rings were menaces to society. And Mylene has strong moral convictions
Minotaurox: Team chat noir because of Mylene.
Pigella: I think she would either abstain or be team ladybug.
Purple tigress: Either abstain or join team chat noir
Roosterbold: Team Ladybug
Caprikid: Team Chat noir ( he canonically hates being lied to)
Miss hound: Team Ladybug

Having so many heroes permanently seems like a horrible and very bad idea to me.
Why? Several reasons.
First, just imagine sixteen heroes going to fight an akuma when only the Ladynoir would be needed to do it. Maybe Ladybug has some idea to contact the hero they need for his power during a battle, but if not, then prepare for a 1 vs 16 fight.
Second, I don't trust more than half of the heroes.
They are literally not to be trusted, it's very clear with Lila. When Lila lies and Mari tries to expose her, Lila manages to put Marinette in a bad light and almost everyone turns against her.
How can you entrust magical jewels to people who didn't support you when a girl who just arrived tells everyone lies that they believe her and not a friend of YEARS (in the case of some).
I don't like Nino, he literally yelled at the cafeteria the identities of Alya and him. He create a plan to akumatize the father of his supposed BEST FRIEND. He spied on his girlfriend and because he believed she was cheating on him with Chat Noir. (In Chameleon he told Marinette that peeping was wrong.)
Kim is an idiot. Ondine, break up with him and come with me.
I don't like Ivan as a character, he is Mylene's boyfriend and that's it.
Mylene has a bit more backstory, but she still strikes me as a boring character.
Max, to be supposedly one of the most intelligent characters, he believed Lila that a napkin was going to gouge out his eye. Bro, how do you trust that?
Rose is too naive, anyone would manipulate her in two seconds. Sorry.
Sadly, Marc, Nathaniel, and Sabrina don't have a chapter of their own to explore more than they are capable of and whether or not, to me, they deserve to have a Miraculous permanently.
Literally almost everyone makes me mad.
Of all the permanent holders, the only one who deserved to keep his miraculous was Luka.
I love Alix from the future, so little Alix will become the same and she is a big consolation.
I like Kagami, but she did NOT have the right to tell Felix about Marinette's identity.
Alya proved to be trustworthy, but she does things that make me angry when it comes to Nino, at least she keep the secret that was Scarabella and I think it's more or less enough to keep her miraculous.
There's no way Felix will drop the peacock miraculous, but it's a comfort to know that he didn't use it for anything bad, since it's a way to protect his safety, Adrien and Kagami's, but I'll wait for a conversation between him and Marinette in the next season apologizing for what he did (they never will, I know).
Zoe and Juleka are fine.
I know that the miraculous were given to their wearers permanently so that no one would steal them again, but I don't think it's right that they give magic jewels to people who used a miraculous once against a filler villain, who are unreliable and that they could betray Marinette with and without the mask.
There were different ways to protect the miraculous, maybe giving some to Adrien, others to Luka and others that Marinette keeps or I don't know, any other better idea.
Also, you have to remember that Cerise, Lila or whatever her name is, has the identities of various holders and even if Marinette doesn't know it, she will find out at some point.
Someone is going to betray Marinette, we all know it.
So no, I hate most of the characters and I don't think they permanently deserve Miraculous.
Oh, and we won't be able to see more unifications either...

Husband Watches Miraculous - Heart Hunter
[Hi I'm not dead, just suffering super depression]
God I can't believe we're doing this again
Alcohol: check. Water: needed.
I am prepared for this! I am not prepared for this.
This is clearly the good animation studio, there's subtleties in the hair motions and the way their fingers bend as they're swiping. I feel bad that this studio has to work on such a dogshit show
Also fuck Luka.
God I hate this man and how pretentious he sounds. I'm not nearly drunk enough for this. He has the second most punchable face on the show. He has one of the most annoying personalities. It's only compounded by the fact that there's people who actually think he's a deep character and would suck his dick. Ugh.
[Who's the most punchable face?]
Kyle XY. He does a disservice to Kyles everywhere.
It doesn't help his case that he's holding her off from her job to play this shit song. He could be like oh you're busy let me help you and then show you this thing. This man aggravates me.
Does he actually have to be doing this right now?
You just said you found her sound and now you're saying it's not right? What a dick
Where did he have the second helmet?
That [Gabriel's gift to Andre and Audrey] looks horrible.
They blue-ified Kagami's hair.
The actual answer to their long 20 years of marriage is the fact that she cheats on him on the regular. That or he's a cuck.
Chloe grew up in an environment where her parents didn't love each other, and she didn't learn love. And in that way, she's neglected like Adrien or like Kagami, which makes them all foils to Marinette, and that's what makes this interesting. All these characters are reflections of each other. Marinette has the both loving parents, Chloe has no loving parents, and Adrien and Kagami each have one distant parent. Which is also why Luka is a foil for Adrien, because he has one parent but a much different relationship with them. It's good writing.
Party foul. You don't put a cookie back once you pick it up.
It is nice to see Kagami and Adrien just being kids.
They're going into the pool full of eggs. Oh they're balloons. IT'S A BALL PIT.
How does her hair gain an entire foot of length just by taking it out of very short pigtails?
This feels like it was meant to be the end of the series.
Oh they're getting merged into another akuma aren't they. It worked well for Alya and Nino's shared embarrassment, so maybe their shared hatred of each other?
Did they just fucking bail on the party?
I'm surprised it took them this long to do another doub-OH MY GOD I HATE IT.
Fang has a little bow!
I like how simple and elegant Mayura's transformation is.
oh it's THIS episode isn't it. I remember you BITCHING about this episode.
So Adrien is peppermint?
Just put three scoops of ice cream. You dickwad. Peppermint is actually two flavors. Orange and blackberry work really well.
"Are you sure, Marinette?" You're the one who says they can't have multiple you dick!
Mint abhorrifies a lot of flavors. and orange is one of the WORST. it's like the orange juice curdles in your mouth.
They should've swapped Kagami's and Adrien's. Orange makes sense for Kagami. Blackberry for Adrien, raspberry for Marinette, so they're a perfect pair but also Kagami makes a really good complement to them.
I do like this show but I can't wait 20 years for a reboot of it so it's actually good
"I wish I didn't have to involve you in this." No you don't you don't give a shit.
I like how Hawkmoth is calling out the entirety of the plot.
Is this the episode that makes her think she should start handing out the miraculous permanently? That would be good storytelling.
You just carry all the miraculouses around with you, Fu?
Maybe don't scream shout your transformation
Okay I actually like Fu's hero design
So this is the one that confirmed adults don't have a time limit.
Chloe really actually should've gotten a miraculous. She had a very good point. They're her parents, she should be the one to save them.
I actually really like this moment. He brings up a good point. Marinette has let her hatred of Chloe get in the way.
Huh he can deakumatize them himself.
Why are the Chloe episodes always the best?
Kagami's wearing American shoes. the converse.
That's actually a really good moment for Luka. If this was my first time seeing him I'd think he was a little weird but an okay fit.
[Please remember husband is watching these blind and does read comments on these posts. no spoilers.]

What if Marinette successfully passed the miraculous to Alya in the origins?
Oh dear, I think there are already AUs of this trope, what to do not to copy any? ='D (and I can't even draw awesome illustrations to stand out LOL)
Tumblr media
What would be interesting is to keep following Marinette & Adrien's POVs, mostly Marinette's (like in canon). Poor Marinette would feel both relieved and guilty for dumping the earrings on Alya, even if the latter is a great holder; especially when Alya starts struggling with her daily life because of the superheroine stuff. Alya might not get overwhelmed like Marinette is - she knows how to say no for example, but there will surely be a time where things will get hard. I can see Marinette doing her best to cover Alya and help her with her homework, babysitting the twin sisters for her, etc. This might raise Alya's suspicions about her, and she might even break the taboo and tell Marinette she's Scarabella way earlier (not sure Tikki would convince her not to, stubborn as she can be!) since "Marinette has guessed already, what's wrong with being honest with her?!"
It might happen when Lila gets in the story, Marinette would be even more fierce against her! Alya would also be very touched by her friend's faith in her, both as her civilian self and Scarabella, so the two would quickly team up to take Lila down!
Marinette could get the Bee miraculous later, during Style Queen or earlier, and become a permanent member (GOOD Heroes Trio YAY).
Master Fu would probably watch over Marinette since the beginning too, not sure when he would contact her though. Maybe during an Akuma attack, where Marinette managed to help both Scarabella and Chat Noir? It would be interesting for Marinette to get trained to become a guardian before being offered a Miraculous. And Marinette not being Ladybug would definitely minimise the burden on her shoulders: she's part of the team, sure, but she isn't the mainstay / last hope. Being a trio and Marinette being the Guardian in training could also help distribute the responsibilities, I'd just try to find something essential for Chat Noir; maybe change and have him be the only one who can destroy an amok (ironically...) instead of Scarabella, or have him taking charge for the Akumas and Sentis while Scarabella is mainly coordinating/there for the miraculous healing and she focuses on trying to find Hawmoth!!
Chat Noir recognizes his first Ladybug friend when Marinette comes with the Bee, cue some touching moments between them and very fun tribulations with Scarabella! (especially if she knows or has some doubts that Marinette has the Bee)
It would be nice to add Nino to the mix! As a permanent holder too!! Either as the Fox, until Master Fu has to leave (like canon or not, up to discussion), or immediately be given the Turtle. I could see Nino using 2 Miraculous afterwards - not sure why, maybe because the team needs to get all the chances on their sides, and Nino decides that since he's the one who had less responsibilities so far, he's willing to take the risk of using 2 Miraculous often.
I don't have much more for now. It was fun to think about it, thank you Anon!

MLB - Season 2 - Episodes 12 and 13
Sapotis
AKA the horrors of having younger siblings. Just kidding. But also, my little siblings are evil little gremlins (I say that as if one of them is not a legal adult with a drivers licenc, the other two are not 14, and they're not all taller than me).
That's rich coming from Mr. Helicopter parent.
Very fashionable.
Oh, god, when Alya gets the Miraculous permanently, she and Chat are going to be insufferable.
The Dark Owl
AKA, the headmaster wants to be the Batman and everyone has to suffer the consequences.
"Let's humor the old man."
Alec, you're still an asshole.
I do love the unhinged angles they use for Hawkmoth any time he thinks he's winning.
Bonk.

I am still hopelessly behind on most of my fandoms, but as I am now fully caught up on Miraculous I feel more comfortable venturing back into Tumblr. Especially because after seeing "Elation" I feel like I can see how the entire rest of the season is going to go, and I have to share this SOMEwhere or i will explode.
Spoilers for up to this point behind the cut. (Also this got really long.) My predictions are not actually spoilers because I am not involved with the show, I am just a writer and know my pulp. So I guess if you would be mad if I'm right, come back later.
Good? Good. First of all, can I say how much I love this season so far? Managing to reverse the polarity of the love quadrangle? Marvelous. Adding the "openly and mutually love each other but cannot be together because Reasons" flavor of Yearning to the mix? Perfection. Nathalie dumping Gabriel's ass and getting some backstory? Chef's kiss. Having an explicitly redpilled dude without referencing the real world? Masterful.
Okay okay. I am not writing this all as a fic because I still haven't finished the fic I started well before I got long covid, so what you get are the highlights, roughly in chronological order. (I was gonna do bullet points but Tumblr didn't like that.)
THE WHOLE STORY (starting from after "Elation")
Marinette gets gently teased at school for the pictures of The Ice Cream Incident. She deflects, says she's just a really big fan of Cat Noir and they don't actually know each other very well. Adrien and Marinette both has a sad.
Monarch sends a Villain of the Week to kidnap Marinette. Adrien loses his entire shit. Marinette gets free and sneaks away, intercepts Cat Noir before he can run headlong into the trap with the ol' "Oh yeah I totally already rescued Marinette, we are very good friends" chestnut.
VotW defeated. Cat Noir rushes to check on Marinette (after Ladybug delays him with a "Shouldn't you feed your kwami first?"). He feels extremely guilty about making her a target. She tries to reassure him, unsuccessfully. Again the whole parasocial angle comes up, with Marinette getting frustrated that he's stuck on the theoretical ethics and ignoring that she was a willing and active participant in The Incident. He takes her home where her parents are panicking about their daughter being taken hostage. Tom approvingly reminds Cat Noir of his vow to protect Marinette in "Weredad." Cat Noir smiles but leaves immediately (guilt guilt guilt)
The possibility of the heroes sharing their identities gets raised. Cat Noir is again "haha can't trick me" but Ladybug is starting to consider it. When she talks it through with Alya (who is apparently on a permanent sleepover now?), Alya teases that this is just so she can date Cat Noir, which is true. Marinette deflects, counters that they've gained some serious tactical advantage from Alya being in on the secret, which is also true. (Alya declares herself a Secret Keeper (tm).) But the danger is still Monarch finding out.
Alya realizes that Tikki must know who Cat Noir is. But Tikki can't tell her even if she wants to, because of the spell that prevents kwamis from speaking the identity of a holder. Lightbulb! Could they cast the same spell on a human? Hijinx, VotW. Spell doesn't work.
Dejected, Ladybug talks about it with Cat Noir, because she is trying to be more open within the constraints of the things she has to hide. Growth! Cat Noir points out that the real danger is one of them being akumatized, and Ladybug's been able to block that before. Maybe she could power up that charm to counter the megakumas? Ladybug is optimistic, if more cautiously so than before.
The heroes meet up to try out the megacharm. Ladybug pushes too hard. The charm comes out all crackly and broken, and she passes out. Cat Noir freaks, takes her to a vacant room at the hotel to recover, hiding in the bathroom so she can detransform. A VotW appears. Plagg comes in to get the earrings so Adrien can be Mister Bug again, but Marinette has revived a bit and knows he's too upset to do this on his own. She sends Tikki with the earrings to find Scarabella.
Scarabella and Cat Noir handle VotW. Cat Noir is still super worried, tells Scarabella that he's having a really hard time because there's no one he can talk about his whole life with. Ladybug (after some guilting by Alya) later admits to him that she went through something similar and had to tell her best friend her secret. Suggests that Cat Noir find someone he can tell, but to choose that person very carefully. She also proposes attempting the charm again, which Cat Noir shoots down hard.
Adrien contemplates who he can tell. Tries Nino, but Nino does his oblivious Nino thing and he thinks better of it. Tries his dad, but Gabriel is really busy with something and blows him off. Adrien fumes that everyone does this to him. The only person who really seems to listen is... of course! Marinette! Plagg makes lame excuses but Adrien is set on it.
It does not go well. "I didn't mean tell me!!" So now they both know. (Plagg was entirely correct, is insufferable about it.) Once they get past the "once again redefining who I'm in love with" thing, they realize they both have to give up their Miraculous, right? But no, Adrien decides that only one of them has to, and insists that it be him. He starts to renounce Plagg, but Marinette stops him, promises this will only be temporary and they'll find a way to protect themselves from Monarch.
Also Gabriel can feel The Angst from across town, but by the time he can get away from his important business thing they've sorted it out and the akuma lands on someone else.
Marinette deputizes Alya to find a new holder, but warns that it can't be someone who knows who Ladybug is. Alya starts with Luka, but oops, he can't wear the ring for the same reason Alya can't. He insists that it wasn't a problem because he loves both Marinette and Adrien like family, so even Monarch can't get him to betray them. Alya is pissed but also delighted to have another Secret Keeper.
Luka passes on the ring to either Juleka (because she is actual family) or Kagami (because she is badass and also they would make an excellent Pair the Spares). The new hero is Panthress, shows up just in time to help Ladybug with VotW.
Next episode starts with Alya leading a Secret Keeper training session for Adrien and Luka. There is a Powerpoint and branding. Main thing she preaches is that they cannot use nicknames or inside jokes or anything when any of them are not in costume, and to assume that anywhere outside of Marinette's bedroom could be heard by Monarch. CONSTANT VIGILENCE! No Ephemeral bullshit on her watch! It is very intense.
Also, Marinette and Adrien are dating. Gabriel insists that Adrien is too young to have a girlfriend, so they keep it on the DL. Of course all the girls know and are delighted. Lila also figures it out and does some Lilaing to try and prove it, though they're able to keep her from getting any real evidence. Marinette struggles to balance paying attention to her boyfriend and school with superheroing. Adrien takes it better than Luka/Kagami since he knows what's up, but not by much. After a balance-themed VotW shows up and gives Ladybug and Panthress a tough fight, he laments to Alya about being left on the sidelines. "Who said anything about sidelines?" Alya scoffs. "Being a Secret Keeper means you are your hero's secret weapon." They pull off some kind of Sentibubbler/Hack-San trickery that leads to victory.
Alya picks up on the unsubtle balance imagery and realizes that's what why the megacharm failed: something that powerful needs to balance creation and destruction. Panthress gives back her ring. Ladybug and Cat Noir reconvene again and together successfully create a pair of charms, one for each of them. It leaves them both extremely drained, though, and Tikki warns they probably shouldn't attempt it again.
But did it work? There's no way to know without Monarch attempting to akumatize one of them. Not great! They reassure each other that they'll all band together to handle it if that happens. Still, Marinette gets in her head and paranoid about it and tries to keep her distance, reasoning that gives her friends a better chance at stopping her if it becomes necessary (and frankly it's been too long since Marinette made a bad decision).
Meanwhile, wouldntchaknow, Monarch decides this is the perfect time to make another attempt at using Marinette as bait. Nathalie, who has picked up on The Vibe, warns him that he should knock it off for Adrien's sake. Gabriel blows her off, starts plotting to get Marinette good and pissed.
And it works! That big black butterfly heads straight for her. It takes a great effort for Adrien to hang back and watch. The akuma hits the charm and doesn't just get rebuffed--it disintegrates. Marinette and Adrien celebrate. Nathalie, who has taken it upon herself to bodyguard Marinette, is stunned. Monarch is enraged, sends out another akuma to grab a random retread VotW. (Who hasn't been akumatized at this point? I think it's just the art teacher, Mr. Banane, and, like, that one bus driver. That's what happens when there are only about 30 people living in all of Paris.) Marinette and Adrien do a joint transformation, and are positively giddy while they fight VotW. They agree afterwards that Ladybug and Cat Noir probably shouldn't seem to be a couple, because the attention would only get worse.
After the fight, Nathalie drives them home. Marinette and Adrien snuggle in the back seat, talking quietly and vaguely about how things can go back to normal. Nathalie sneaks a pic. Later, she confronts Gabriel with it, says he's refusing to see how he's hurting his son. She lays it all out: as his loyal aide for years, she has everything she needs to destroy him. She's refrained for Adrien's sake, but if Monarch continues threatening the girl Adrien loves, it's war. Gabriel quips that he's proud she's almost as ruthless as he is; she retorts that she's much more ruthless, and always has been. Later, Gabriel gives Adrien his blessing to date Marinette.
And then... plot stuff? There's still all the business with Felix and the resistance and getting set up for the final showdown and "smart devices are evil, metaphorically but also literally", but it isn't the Romance Arc so I haven't been obsessing over it. Somewhere in there, they specify that the grimoire describes the ability to make the wish as "two great powers contained in one heart." Also Master Su-Han arrives at a point before the final battle when all seems lost, with all the Guardians in tow to kick all the ass. They arrive either by hopping across the rooftops, or by bus because Su-Han hopped across rooftops all the way to Tibet and fuck that. (I can't decide which is funnier.) Also also they are all obsessed with cat videos.
Anyway, somehow it gets to the final throwdown, Ladybug and Cat Noir vs. Monarch. The battle reveals that Monarch has seriously rotted from the cataclysm. Ladybug frets that they could heal him if they had the lucky charm from that night. Nathalie goes "Oh, you mean this thing?" and produces it. (She finds it earlier and recognizes it as a lucky charm but doesn't know where it came from, so keeps it handy.) One "Miraculous Ladybug" later and Gabriel is healed.
He's stunned that Ladybug would help him after all this. But he's also the kwami of Sunk Cost Fallacy, so he still insists he needs the two great powers in one heart to make his wish. Lightbulb! What can make two hearts into one? Why, love, of course! Marinette thinks a Ladybug and Cat Noir in love might be able to accomplish the same thing.
They go down to Emilie's chamber for the attempt. Ladybug confirms that Emilie's condition is from the broken peacock Miraculous going parasitic and sucking away all of Emilie's life force instead of just what it needed to recharge. They might be able to give her back enough energy to be healed.
Ladybug and Cat Noir succeed in creating a megacharm, but the impact is closer to Ladybug's first attempt. They both detransform and are barely conscious. Marinette weakly tells Gabriel to give the charm to his wife and call her to wake up. He does, while Nathalie tends to Adrien and Marinette.
Emilie awakens. But she's weak after her long sleep and still coughing, and it's a struggle for Gabriel to help her out of her life support tube. Enraged, he accuses Ladybug of tricking him. Emilie sadly pats her husband's cheek. "This is what I feared would happen, my love. What have you become?" Gabriel is gutted.
Emilie explains that the charm is healing her, but cannot do so fast enough to combat the severe damage to her body. It would take a steady supply of such charms to fully restore her. "And the cost," she says, looking at her son, who is beginning to recover and clutching Marinette, "is too great."
"But I promised," Gabriel insists. "I swore I would bring you back."
"And you did. You gave me more time. Even one more minute with you, one more chat with my dearest Nathalie, one more chance to see my son and meet the girl he loves, all of that is a gift I never deserved. But you must promise me something else now. When this gift of time runs out, you must let me go. You must let me rest."
Gabriel agrees. Various tearful reunions. Emilie gives the charm to Nathalie, who might still be healed. Marinette awkwardly tries to excuse herself, but Emilie insists she stay. "You are family, are you not? And you will all need to take care of each other."
Gabriel puts a hand on Marinette's shoulder. "We will."
And then they all have dinner at one end of that ridiculously long table, with Adrien and Marinette being cute together and probably some voiceover.
END OF SEASON and probably a cliffhanger about a new Big Bad
Other things I think are likely/possible but didn't fit in my Grand Unified Theory:
Adrien asks Luka for advice on how to handle things with Marinette. Luka explains that he got his zen outlook through a lot of therapy and practice (because come on, he's too perfect, he needs some explanation) and offers to teach Adrien a bit
Alternatively, Adrien finds out that Luka knows that he's Cat Noir, and is able to confide in Luka the way Marinette confides in Alya
Or Luka advises Marinette (because at this point he's pretty much Hot Agony Aunt, it's going to happen in some flavor) that her bad decisions don't come from the way she feels, but the way she tries to hide her feelings. They broke up not because of her secret, but because she wouldn't be honest that she wasn't that into him.
Adrien figures out how to view the footage from Felix's monocle. Learns the truth about both his parents, freaks out and runs to Marinette's house. (This works even if he doesn't know she's Ladybug, because he's panicked and she's the one person who feels like sanity and safety.)
Nathalie sabotages the kwami containment system or otherwise fucks with Monarch's stuff
Nathalie (or another quasi-villain, possibly Felix or Chloe) gets the Snake from Monarch but uses its power to help the heroes
Amelie knows about the peacock Miraculous, and maybe even wielded it. That's why Felix wanted it back.
Adrien is the one put in serious danger at some point (before identities are revealed), forcing Marinette to realize that she does still love him, oops. Also forces Monarch to wonder if maybe he's going too far? (Nah.)
Monarch makes his wish, and Emilie is fully healed, but the life exchanged is Adrien's, oops. Ladybug figures out how to reverse this.
Sorry, Gabriel and/or Nathalie, but redemption = death
Whatever happens, Emilie IS NOT FULLY REVIVED. It's just not gonna happen. Not only does that teach the lesson that all the horrible stuff Gabriel did was rewarded in the end, but the show has heavily focused on themes of dealing with guilt, accepting loss, and facing the consequences of your actions, so wiping out the core concept with a magic reset button undermines all that. (Are there two Miraculous that grant their holders a literal magic reset button? Yes. Shh.) The only way it would work for Emilie to live is if Gabriel trades his life for hers (see above point)
Vaguer predictions for later seasons:
Someone else takes over as Hawkmoth. Predicted candidates: - Nathalie (adults are a more convincing threat than children, has her own interest in the Miraculous) - Amelie (didn't see that one coming, evil twin = operatic af) - Felix (shady bastard, would use the wish to bring back his father) - Lila (heavily foreshadowed, whole deal is being a dick)
Gabriel uses his extensive knowledge of the Miraculous to become a Guardian, or at the very least restores the Miraculous to their previous forms. With at least two more seasons, there's time for him to have a proper redemption arc, a la Zuko or Scarlemagne. That doesn't mean he's dodged redemption = death, though.
Adrien is dealing with serious anger and grief about his father's betrayal. Forgiveness will be a long, hard road if it comes at all. Marinette pushes reconciliation because her loving and supportive family makes it hard for her to understand that Adrien might be better off without a parent.
Another point of contention with them: Marinette's control freak tendencies vs. Adrien's growing desire to assert himself
They stay together despite difficulties, but continue to insist that Ladybug and Cat Noir are not a couple. Paris continues to not remotely believe them. High chance of fake dating, alter egos that are still them, other silly romance tropes (because we still haven't run out, no sir)
Something breaks one/both megacharms to bring back some "it's not you it's my enemies" stakes
There's at least one more Miracle Box in play in NYC, and who knows how many others. So many superheroes!
But Marinette's box is the main one, and there's only one Ladybug. So instead of being the de facto leader of a dozen superheroes, she's the de facto leader of hundreds. Yay?
Marinette will want to retire as a Guardian but there's that pesky mindwipe to deal with
Another Guardian (maybe even Gabriel) suggests that maybe there's a better way of vetting holders for these ancient, powerful jewels than just giving them to her classmates? (jk there's not, they go through a bunch of auditions and stuff and the original holders are still the best)
A bunch of new characters introduced as the cast disperse to vocational schools. There will now be 50 people living in Paris instead of 30! (We will still run out of people to akumatize.) This will include a new shippable couple to troll us endlessly with, as well as a new antagonist because Chloe and Lila are honestly played out.
Alya hands over control of the Ladyblog, feeds her successor endless plausible bullshit about hero identities
As mentioned above, Luka and Kagami date for a bit and then amicably break up. Everyone tries to project drama into it, but their whole deal is that they're levelheaded to a fault
Rose/Juleka and Marc/Nathaniel are explicitly confirmed as couples (instead of just being shown in parallel with other couples as they have been). Because this show makes "fuck you" money and can do what they want
So how much of this will be right? I don't know! I was sure they couldn't milk much more distance out of the "will they/won't they" romance and hoo boy they surprised me. I am equally certain that I will be more or less correct with my outline and that something will happen in the very next episode that completely fucks my bracket. I will be delighted to be right, delighted for them to pull something I never saw coming, and generally just delighted to have more episodes.

Can we take a break from the love square? I mean, we get it:Adrienette is a one sided secret crush on her side, Ladynoir is an open one sided crush on his side, Marichat is strictly platonic and Ladrien is a mutual secret crush. We know! How ‘bout we focus on another couple over here, huh? Like the monster couple of Myvan or the sweetness that is Julerose or even the adorable artists Marcaniel! Or better yet, DJWifi! Yeah! Let’s talk about them! They’re the Beta Couple of the show! More happier, in love and stable than the main couple that is the love square! What could possibly be wrong with them!? Let’s check:
*Rocketear-Ladybug, Cat Noir and Carapace “and just those three supers” just saved the day from some-DINOSAURS! WTF!? Okay, seriously, I thought it was some kind of akumatized or amokized villain or some sh*t, but it’s real! Some scientist lady brought them back from extinction and now Bob Roth wants to “Jurassic Park” it!😳…….What’s goin’ on in this show!?
Forget it! We’re not here to talk about dinosaurs, we’re here to talk about the beta couple that is DJWifi! (gets in your face) Focus! Okay, I lied! The fox hero was there too in secret! Since Alya convinced Shadow Moth that “Ladybug” can’t give “Alya” the fox miraculous anymore (“Sentibubbler”), she went by a new look and name calling herself Rena Furtive! (trumpeters sound) She does this in case Shadow Moth makes one of his rare appearances outside his lair, so she can make a Ladybug illusion to distract him again. Smart. The problem is Marinette strictly tells Alya she can’t tell Nino about her retirement as Rena Rouge or her new superhero name and involvement. It’s for the safety of the both of ‘em. That’s fine, right?
Nino starts to get suspicious with Alya and it’s been happenin’ since “Optigami” (right at the same time Cat Noir was feeling unwanted in missions) when she lied about going somewhere to transform as Rena Rouge to help Ladybug with a plan that didn’t involve him as Carapace. This is followed by “Sentibubbler” where he was forbidden from going into her room with Marinette to talk about her (Marinettes) nightmare about Alyas betrayal cuz he didn’t know Alya was a permanent miraculous holder now and then in “Hack-San” when Alya temporarily got a hold of the ladybug miraculous and lied again to Nino about leaving to see Marinette and receive the thing itself and then lied again to get him to leave so she can transform and save the day. Looks like Cats not the only one in the dark now. Look Kitty! You got company! Misery loves that!
Nino plays detective (what is he four? Okay, I get it! He wants to direct too, but this is just silly) to investigate what’s going on with Alya and he suspects that maybe she’s cheating on him with Cat Noir! He got the idea from the Ladybug movie sequel of Rena Rouge and Cat Noir having a romance (since his hero character, Carapace, wasn’t in it), then seeing little kids cosplaying the scenario itself and also seeing Alya gush about how awesome Cat is on her blog. Hey Sherlock! How ‘bout you be like your journalist girlfriend and actually do some research instead of taking assumptions from media and the general public!?
Adrien is worried maybe Alya is in love with his alter ego and his “charisma” actually rubbed off on her from the Ladyblog he just saw, so he goes to see for himself as Cat Noir. Luckily, Alya Noir ain’t happen’ cuz she already has a boyfriend she loves and she doesn’t fall for guys she doesn’t really know. Problem solved! Wait! Who’s that short guy with a trench coat, iPhone and fake mustache down there? (squints eyes) Nino! Oh f**k! Wrong time to do research Sherlock! Especially with misleading body language and no audio where you were at!
Nino confides in Adrien about this and Adrien tries to settle Nino down (without trying to reveal himself as Cat Noir) on how Alya, Ms.Get-All-Your-Research-to-Find-the-Truth journalist, could never possibly fall for someone she doesn’t really know and how she’s just a fan of supers for her blog. Nino counters it saying it’s cuz he knows Cat loves Ladybug, but she was never interested, so he believes Cat decided to move on and be with Alya cuz Cat Noir is a “sl*t” (or man sl*t as I prefer) XD. Feeling so upset over “losing” the love of his life and wanting to spay and neuter Cat Noir, he’s reduced to tears and akumatized as Rocketear.
Rocketear? O.M.G.! That is the worst supervillain for the season! (Queen Banana just took silver) He looked ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous! He was all rain dropped shaped with his costume and his name was stupid! Rocketear!? When I heard that name, I expecting a space themed baddie where the dynamic duo would power-up in their space themed suits and have some kind of awesome battle in the solar system, but Nooooooooooo, instead, we got some Boo-hoo Boy “who fires exploding rocket tears” at the man sl*t cat hero! What a stupid power too! With a pun name like that, it sounds like something Cat Noir would give if he were the supervillain for the butterfly miraculous! :P! You suck Rocketear! You know that!? You really really really SUCK!🖕
Bomb #17, Nino reveals to Adrien he was Carapace, Alya was Rena Rouge and that both of ‘em knew about it cuz of Ladybug. Also Alya secretly goes by a new super alias named Rena Furtive! (and if it’s consequential, dinosaurs exist again ¯\_( ಠ_ಠ)_/¯). This was how Nino tried to get through to Adrien about Alya Noir “happen’”. Wow! Big move there Nino! Especially since he doesn’t know Adrien is Cat Noir! How’s this gonna come back to bite Ladybug (and Alya) when she finds out? Nino says he knows Cat Noir “well” from his time as a super and how he’s an annoying obnoxious man sl*t. Ouch! Adrien just heard his own best friend call him a man sl*t! Get the Ninosporin dude! (Badum-tish🥁)……PUNS ARE ONLY OKAY WHEN I MAKE ‘EM! OKAY!? Technically, Cat Noir is an open flirt as he did so with Rena Rouge when she first arrived (“Sapotis” and a few other girls that joined Team Miraculous) and with no Ladynoir to post anymore, (“Glaciator 2”), Alya just now fangirls about Cat which would make Nino jump to conclusions. Adrien was also upset at hearing that Nino and Alya knew about one another’s identities and how Ladybug was okay with that too. Well, she allowed it cuz there was an emergency and she had no time to give them their miraculouses separately (“Heroes Day Part 1:Catalyst”). Plagg explained its cuz Ladybug is the guardian now and makes all the rules of “who knows who”, but Adrien was pissed that he and Ladybug are an exception (we know why, but that’s for later). Not only is DJWifi more happier, in love and stable than the love square is, but is also more honest. Alya goes against her friends rules and confesses to Nino about both retiring as Rena Rouge and rising again, in secret, as Rena Furtive. The reason I believe is so Nino won’t doubt her faithfulness and keep him safe from Shadow Moths manipulation. Nino already has the willpower to break through the akumatization (like his girlfriend in “Gang of Secrets”) and received his anti-akumatizing charm, but from what I’ve been spoiled by, it’s (the charm) not gonna work soon. DJWifi officially declared their love for one another and showed how strong this Beta Couple can be! It’s basic story writing for this to happen. There’s always the main couple that suffers through the most with the trails and tribulations of love making things more complicated for them plot wise to build up drama (necessary or not) and for the secondary couple to work as foils being more grounded and trustworthy. Here’s to DJWifi!🥂. Good luck love square!

It's official, miraculous gets good at season 4.
In all seriousness, is this how ladybug gets her new powers? Since Alya already figured out the whole guardian symbol on her own, maybe Alya will figure out the code and that's how they unlock the new power, maybe even a new power for chat too, tho i doubt it, they usually treat my boi poorly.

what truly annoys me about this show is that for every step forward that marinette takes, the show makes her take three steps back.

“Sentibubbler” summary? “Sentibubbler” salt?
Why not both at the same time?
Something a little experimental, though also somewhat reminiscent of some of my past videos. Calling it “summasalt” for now, based on the word “somersault” because this episode was an exercise of my patience.
It’s basically just me going through the episode with my usual episode summary, but salting along the way instead of making you guys read a wall of text without any images or clips or me making snarky comments.
(By the way, yes, I did in fact have caffeine before recording.)
script below for anyone who wants/needs it:
"Sentibubbler" begins with Marinette having food with the Cesaires and I already know this isn't real because Marinette is actually getting to interact with her best friend's family. That's only happened, like--when, two episodes of Season 2? [”Sapotis” and “Anansi”]
Marinette sees Trixx and points out how they're supposed to be a secret, and Alya asks why while calling Marinette "Ladybug." Marinette plays dumb but is told by Nino that everyone already knows her secret. Chloe is also there, chiding Marinette for her identity rule - it's not Marinette's rule but after "Reflekdoll" I've just gotten used to Marinette being blamed for things she didn't do - and Marinette goes to question Chloe's apperance when there's a knock on the balcony door. Alya invites Shadow Moth in and--[Shadow Moth has to duck to come inside]--huh, I thought Sole Crusher was seven episodes ago.
Anyway, now obviously, Marinette is just being ridiculous and overemotional as usual, because why would Marinette ever think that Alya would reveal any information to--["Feast"]--oh yeah, that's right.
Tikki doesn't transform Marinette and says that Marinette shouldn't have trusted Alya with her secret. Enter Chat Blanc, who says that they can be together now without any secrets. Not really sure what this episode is aiming for with the mixed message of "your identity rule sucks" but also "your fault for trusting someone instead of having a mental breakdown," but a’ight. Trixx also gets another dig in on Marinette for giving Alya the fox miraculous.
Marinette wakes up from her nightmare and panics, but Tikki reassures her that Alya is loyal. [”Chameleon”] Mm. Also, that kind of support might've been nice from Tikki literal seasons ago when Marinette could've used a confidant.
Wayzz - I swear, they've had eyelashes more often than not in this season - points out that Trixx is mischievous and Xuppu talks about Trixx being the cause of the Loch Ness monster rumors, which worries Marinette further. Marinette runs out in her pajamas and I can already predict that neither Tom nor Sabine are going to check on her later or care.
Marinette finds the Cesaires looking for something, their words vague enough for Marinette to think that they're talking about Trixx. Alya brushes Marinette off and tells her to help with looking instead of lecturing her.
Marlena makes a comment that reminds Marinette of her nightmare, only increasing Marinette's stress. A tarantula crawls up a ladle and Marinette freaks out when she sees it, which Marlena has a laugh at because Marinette's anxiety, fear, and panic is hilarious, guys!
This is my laughing face. [not a laughing face]
Nino exits, having been too afraid of the spider to leave the room, so Nora compares Marinette to him. Nino tries to play it cool, then changes the subject to point out Marinette's pajamas. Alya wonders aloud why Marinette showed up and Marinette tries to act casual, but Alya sees through it and states that she doesn't usually lose things when someone lends them to her.
I presume the exception is Marinette's trust. OH-HOOOOHHH, we'll get there.
Nora takes a jab at Alya for losing the spider and Marinette drags Alya away to talk. Nino tries to join but Alya states that it's between her and Marinette, which makes Nino sad.
Nino, does the phrase "guys' time" ring a bell by any chance?
Marinette is explaining her nightmare and is simply told to calm down by Alya, though Marinette is briefly startled by a phone ringing. Marinette puts together what she knows that Shadow Moth knows, including that Alya is Rena Rouge, adding on that Shadow Moth could steal the fox necklace if he figured out that Alya has it permanently. Alya reassures her that no one will ever know and Marinette states that this must include Chat Noir. Alya agrees and brings attention to the fanny pack around her waist, which Trixx has been hiding in, and Marinette has Trixx promise not to show up at the dining table like in her nightmare. Tikki tells Marinette that everything will be fine and Marinette admits that it was silly of her to worry, which it was! ...If you ignore all the anxiety, mental scarring, and constant pressure to be perfect or risk Paris lighting itself on fire, much like I presume they accidentally did with their original script for this episode.
Alya tells Marinette to trust her and also herself - I'll be sure to keep that in mind, Alya, thank you - then Alya loses her temper at the phone continuing to ring. She leaves to find an empty living room, then answers the phone only to hear Shadow Moth on the other line. Alya turns upon hearing Marinette scream to see that Marinette has been trapped in a bubble. Cue the reveal/return of the Bubbler, who is definitely Nino akumatized and not--like--a sentimonster, because the episode didn't spoil it at all with the title of Sentibub--
show, this is freaking embarrassing. Why even bother akumatizing someone when you can mold a sentimonster with the exact power you want?
At least they reveal it quickly, though that also means I have to live with the knowledge that Shadow Moth wINKED AT ALYA, NO.
Anyway, Shadow Moth tells Alya that he wants her to betray Ladybug. Marinette, meanwhile, is panicking over being unable to transform while in public, whereas Tikki remains calm and reassures her that Alya will figure something out and it's why Marinette gave Alya the fox miraculous in the first place.
Weird, I thought it was for the show to continuously validate Alya as a worthy choice for a confidant despite repeatedly covering up her sINS and so the show can push for more anxiety on Marinette's part while simultaneously not having to make a new hero model for Alya, which they would have to do if the realistic decision had been made to give Alya a different miraculous due to Shadow Moth knowing her identity as Rena Rouge.
Marinette texts Alya to inform her that the Bubbler is a sentimonster and so Rena can tell Chat not to use Cataclysm on him or the bubbles will burst due to the sentimonster's lack of control.
Hate to burst the show's bubble but Alya could literally see Nino up in the sky and they could see her; the bubbles are in viewing range. Did this even go through a quality check?
Alya goes to look at Marinette's text, but the phone is bubbled away by Sentibubbler. Marinette sees the phone floating by and panics, only to be reassured again to trust Alya and at this point I vaguely wondered if I was watching this episode on repeat. Tikki also adds that Alya has never let her down - [”Ladybug”] MMMM - and Marinette agrees, also certain that Chat Noir will show up soon.
Oh yeah, he exists. Oh no.
Cut to the Agreste mansion where Adrien is watching the news - dude, how is there never anything better on when you need to be told that there's an akuma? here, look, I'll show you [”Silencer” Lukabug clip] there, much better, see? - and it's pointed out that the bubbles are identical to the ones Bubbler had, yet Nino is in one of the bubbles. Adrien readies himself while Plagg is - for once - okay with leaving since his cheese isn't "edible" yet.
I feel like he should be a little more concerned about Marinette being in a bubble.
Meanwhile, Shadow Moth is explaining to Alya that Ladybug will come to give her the fox miraculous due to the bubbled people in the sky - plenty of other choices that aren't within breathing range of the obvious danger zone, but a'ight - and SentiBubbler will catch Ladybug. Alya brings up Chat Noir saving her but Shadow Moth states that she'll create an illusion of Ladybug and Rena to lure Chat Noir, who won't see Sentibubbler coming, at which point Rena will hand Shadow Moth her miraculous. He adds that her loved ones will only be returned once all three miraculouses are in his possession, though if she tries to warn the heroes then Sentibubbler will send the bubbles into space, too far for any hero to save them.
[clip of space power-ups] Hm.
Also, I would've just let her keep the miraculous as an extra bribe since he doesn't need the fox and she wouldn't have time to recharge anyway - at least to his knowledge - but that's just me.
Marinette is relieved that Alya still hasn't been captured--TIKKI, I KNOW, YOU'VE BEEN PARROTING THIS ALL EPISODE, I KNOW--but Marinette changes her tune when she sees Alya blindly calling out for Ladybug's help, unaware that Alya is buying time. Marinette laments the idea of transforming there and having using the rabbit to go back in time to reverse, as that's never a good thing (seconded), but gets the idea for Tikki to take her miraculous to someone else. Tikki rejects the idea, as the earrings won't go through the bubble, and Marinette realizes that Chat Noir is their only hope.
I mean, it was nice knowing them. Sure is interesting how Marinette has only been getting herself into these situations where she requires saving when the show needed to present Alya as a valid choice for a confidant.
Meanwhile, Chat Noir is leaving a message for Ladybug about the bubbles in the sky, saying that he'll wait for her; I already see where this is going and I don't like it.
Alya mutters to Trixx about how they need a plan to release Marinette. Through Alya Vision, we're shown Sentibubbler, a bowl of fruit, and the bathroom door. Alya tells Sentibubbler that she needs to go to the bathroom and - wow, we're really doing this, aren't we? - which Shadow Moth rejects. Shadow Moth is also on top of a building holding a coffee cup which honestly makes about as much sense as the rest of the episode, so whatever. Alya claims that she can't wait and that it'll be awkward for Ladybug to find her like that, which gets Shadow Moth to relent but also remind her of what's at stake if she tries anything. Alya states that she can't do anything without a miraculous anyway, then purposefully falls onto the table, concealing her long enough for her to transform and allowing an illusion of herself to go to the bathroom while she escapes. She detransforms in the twins' room and feeds Trixx with some grapes that she'd picked up.
Alya explains her plan to trick Shadow Moth and Sentibubbler since they don't know that she has a miraculous, though she also has to make sure that Chat won't ruin things. Rena then proceeds to call Chat Noir and claim that Ladybug wanted her to call him with her plan, but adds that it's a two-person plan and Chat himself isn't needed, so he needs to wait for further instructions. Chat demands that Ladybug call him to tell him herself, but Rena insists that she can't, as Ladybug is very busy. She warns him not to use Cataclysm if he sees the Bubbler, as he's a sentimonster, then promises to talk to him later before hanging up.
She uses Mirage again, making the Alya illusion reappear as well as creating a Ladybug. Chat Noir, infuriated at being left out, destroys part of a building with his baton. He then dismisses the action because Miraculous Ladybug will fix it.
Spoiler alert, it will, which is a very fascinating detail! I mean, I can't imagine another situation where a hero did something while there was an akuma going around and Miraculous Ladybug decided to help 'em out, but it just goes to show what happens when you're the writers' pet. Just look a little pitiful and they'll give you all the sympathy in the world.
By the way, didn't expect them to actually confirm my theory that Chat Noir does Chat Noir things because he knows that Miraculous Ladybug will fix it anyway, essentially allowing him to earn brownie points from Ladybug via sacrificing himself regardless of how it affects her mentally, yet here we are and I don't know whether to be sad, angry, disappointed, or a mixture of all three.
Chat Noir sees the Ladybug illusion jumping off and gives chase, refuses to stay where he is. Marinette, seeing that Rena Rouge's illusions are active, panics at the sight of Chat Noir, as the illusion will vanish if Chat touches it.
I like to imagine the immediate concern is the idea that Chat Noir will try to take Ladybug's hand while trying to flirt.
Anyway, Marinette flails inside the bubble in an attempt to reach Chat Noir, while illusion Alya and SentiBubbler get into position. Chat Noir watches what he perceives as Ladybug heading into the Cesaire house with Alya, but Marinette gets to him in order to tell him not to go anywhere. Chat complains about everyone telling him to stay put, but Marinette explains Rena's plan to him. Chat is skeptical of how she knows that, to which Marinette insists that she saw it from where she was. Chat Noir relents with a sigh and stays where he is.
SentiBubbler watches as the illusion of Alya and Ladybug talk to each other, Rena making it look like Ladybug is piecing together what happened and refusing to give Alya a miraculous ever again due to Shadow Moth knowing her identity. She claims that she'll find another holder and give them an even more powerful miraculous, which interests Shadow Moth and gets him to follow after the Ladybug illusion. Once Sentibubbler leaves as well, Chat sees this as his chance to stop the sentimonster, as the Ladybug illusion will vanish if it's touched. Marinette strokes his ego for the token love square moment of the episode, and Chat Noir fights SentiBubbler while Shadow Moth goes after the Ladybug illusion.
I'm noticing a real lack of tension in this episode. Once Alya has her plan, it's kind of a clean sweep from start to finish with no interference or unexpected roadblocks in the way. Even Shadow Moth following the Ladybug illusion goes fine, with Shadow Moth even punching a building thinking that Ladybug actually got away from him.
Dude, it's fine, Miraculous Ladybug will fix it, just put on your best sad face. Maybe Chat Noir gets it from you actually, is treatment from the writers a hereditary thing?
Sentibubbler and Chat Noir are still fighting. Shadow Moth shows up and Marinette tries to warn Chat, but Chat gets caught in a bubble and Marinette apologizes; she doesn't have anything to apologize for but after "Reflekdoll" I--wait I already did this.
Chat Noir uses Cataclysm to escape, only to get caught in another bubble. I'd just like to throw out there that this guy's a hero three seasons going and the love interest for the main character, yet his role in the episode has amounted to complaining about the authority of a hero Ladybug chose, throwing a property-destroying tantrum over being excluded, and wasting his power without a single thought which just got him captured again.
Chat, does the name "Syren" ring any bells by any chance? I'm just sayin', you could always quit. In fact, wasn't it you literally one episode ago saying that you understood if Ladybug couldn't always come get you? Then, after seeing the jump from "Glaciator" to "Frozer," I'm about as shocked as rubber.
Back with the competent one, Alya notes to Trixx that Rena Rouge can no longer be seen by Shadow Moth or else the jig is up. She transforms and texts Marinette to be ready, creating an illusion of Marinette that simultaneously hides the real version, allowing her to transform into Ladybug.
Chat Noir's bubble gets dragged down and Shadow Moth gets SentiBubbler to mute Chat Noir's bubble.
[clip from “Silencer” where Ladybug takes amusement in Chat being muted]
Ladybug uses Lucky Charm and receives a pot, her Lucky Vision spotting Shadow Moth's coffee cup, then SentiBubbler, then the tarantula trapped in a bubble. Ladybug deduces that the cup is the sentimonster's object, then pulls the horse miraculous out of her yoyo and unifies it with the ladybug--oh.
Oh my.
You know, it's times like this where I'm reminded that the show knows nothing about fashion... or girls... or good writing actually--there's just a lot of stuff they don't know.
Sentibubbler does a countdown, then starts sending the civilian bubbles up into the sky. Chat Noir is about to de-transform while PegaBug notices of Shadow Moth's two miraculous, up for grabbin'. She notes that she won't be able to catch everyone, so she forms a portal behind Shadow Moth and goes for the coffee cup first, thus putting her in control of SentiBubbler, who happily brings the bubbles back down at her command.
Shadow Moth erases SentiBubbler from existence though, causing everyone to fall, but Chat and PegaBug manage to catch them. PegaBug de-transforms and presents the Cesaires with the tarantula, which had been trapped inside the lucky charm. Ladybug and Chat Noir watch Shadow Moth escape and Ladybug laments that it could've been the end of Shadow Moth once and for all because it's not a Miraculous episode without Marinette being at fault or feeling guilty in some way! Chat Noir reassures her [*by “reassure,” I mean he might as well have said, “Well, you saved ME, so you did great!”] - wow, that's two token love square moments for the price of one episode, don't I feel spoiled - and Ladybug leaves to retrieve the tarantula's tank.
Rena Rouge is waiting for her and they hug, with Rena repeating that she doesn't lose something that someone gives her. Ladybug states that she never should've doubted the idea of giving Alya a miraculous and Imma just give you guys a counter real quick. [counter that shows that Tikki has complimented Alya four times, Alya has complimented herself/told Marinette to trust her thrice, and Marinette has said that she was wrong thrice]. Miraculous Ladybug is cast and everything returns to normal, with Alya explaining what she did and Marinette being relieved that Shadow Moth won't be going after her anymore. Alya confidently asks if she was smart and Marinette is happy to praise her, confirming it and stating that Alya is a real superhero and honestly? If the narrative wanted to marry Alya this badly, they should've just used some of the budget to buy a ring instead of projecting onto the other characters.
Then again, the apparent budget can't even afford a new hero model nor new akuma to a very noticeable degree, so I guess they're taking what they can get.
Alya praises Marinette as well for her work as PegaBug and they do a fistbump, thus ending the episode. There's also this ever-so-lovely post-episode scene with Gabriel and Nathalie where Gabriel laments the fact that Ladybug never makes mistakes which--I... has he even watched the series at all? Gabe, babe, Babriel Agreste, it's literally part of the show's formula that Marinette makes a mistake in every episode and she felt guilty like a minute ago over not yoinking your miraculouses when she had the chance, where have you been?
But, yeah, anyway, the episode.
Needless to say, not a fan. Like I said, the show seems so intent on immediately validating the choices they make with Alya in order to make her look like a better character. "Gang of Secrets" basically replaced her with someone different at the end of the episode, and the episode immediately afterwards in chronological order, "Mr. Pigeon 72," did everything it could to push Marinette out of her guardian position long enough for Alya to figure out the grimoire despite having zero onscreen experience with it, the episode even trapping Ladybug in a situation that forced Rena Rouge to come into play to validate that decision as well.
And now we have "SentiBubbler" here following immediately after "Optigami," desperate to reassure its audience that Alya is cool, smart, truthworthy, and that not needing to make a new model--sorry, I mean Alya continuing to have the fox--was a good decision. All the while, they continue pushing Alya's flaws under the rug [Note that it’s not even considered that Alya is even remotely at fault for Shadow Moth going after her specifically after her stunt in “Optigami” when no one else but Ladybug and Chat have ever given out a miraculous], hiding them instead of Alya actually acknowledging them, the only reason she did so in "Optigami" being the same as in "Gang of Secrets"; to make her look good while Marinette makes a big decision in their relationship.
The episode tries so hard to drill in this idea that Alya is a good friend who can be trusted, and I'm just not here for how much they try to hammer it in. Marinette's very real anxiety over Shadow Moth's power and ability to plan things is played off as her being silly instead of something to be concerned about, and instead of giving her a hug and trying to help her calm down - [clip from “Heart Hunter” of Luka hugging Marinette] I miss Luka - she's just told to trust and believe and hAVE fAiTh in Alya.
Shadow Moth is an adult; he has abilities that the teenage heroes don't. I'm not even saying that Marinette isn't overreacting [Basically, her concern about Shadow Moth is valid, especially after “Optigami” where her identity was almost found out], but she has anxiety and some obvious trauma over "Chat Blanc." I was already upset that Alya got a free pass to Marinette's identity, but the constant stressing over how much Marinette should trust her just doesn't affect me when I know Alya and I know the kind of stuff she's done that the show blatantly ignored in favor of pushing for her.
But okay, show, I'll give Alya the benefit of the doubt that she doesn't deserve. Let's say that she's turned a new leaf, and has become the reliable, trustworthy, and loyal partner that Marinette deserves. I'm sure that Alya has Marinette's back, and will never go behind said back in order to do something completely unsurprising and wholly indicative of the character I actually know her to be.
Especially not a mere three episodes later...

Hi it's me coming again with a half-baked end card analysis
Tumblr media
It's probably gonna be pretty obvious but let's start with he start: Marinette and Alya, showing Marinette choosing Alya as a permanent holder now despite the risks it entails (re: Hawkmoth knowing her identity). It's echoing what she told her just before, that since Alya knew about her identity, she could know everything now - she's becoming not only her confident, but a partner Marinette has chosen in her fight against Hawkmoth. Even Tikki and Trixx watching them seems to have the kwamis agreeing on this choice - with Trixx taking Plagg's place next to Tikki as it usually is to symbolise the ladybug and the black cat miraculous as the powerful ones.
Second thing (or first tbh but I'm analysing this in 2nd) that we see is the faces of Rena Rouge and Shadowmoth in the back. Hawkmoth has another target now, that he seems afraid of if his expression is to be trusted but of whom he also knows the identity of - it's not his hidden eye that we see watching her. The background of Paris' city behind him is also interesting: he can watch any of her movement in this city if he choses so. To get to Ladybug, he has a solution by getting to Alya first because he suspects she knows something. A confrontation of sort, not necessarily direct is definitely to be expected. Chat Noir's the least of his concerns now, despite him needing his miraculous just as much as Ladybug's.
Speaking of which - oh hey he's there in the end card now. While he hasn't been in a few of the end cards we saw despite having had a bigger role in the episode's fight than Optigami's. It could seem surprising he's there at all, really, though we know it's not a hazard and it says a lot:
First of all, he is so tiny in his little bottom right corner, overshadowed by the big place Rena Rouge's face is taking: it might not be Marinette's intention, but as of late she has been replacing his role as her partner by Alya and he is being completely overshadowed by her presence.
It's to remind us that despite him not being active in the episode, he is there, as a part of the team, and it's definitely foreshadowing for some future plot (or conflict at this point) to come: he has noticed too. He has noticed something was wrong, even if he seems quiet about it for now.
Marinette and Alya are both closer to Hawkmoth than Chat Noir on the picture: they aren't at the center, but far from him, indicating there's a gap that is clearly being made between them but that by doing so, they're exposing themselves more to Hawkmoth. Notice as well how Marinette's back is turned to Chat Noir: by opening up to Alya instead of him, she's unknowingly turning away from him and putting him aside a bit more. It could also indicate that it might be lived as a (albeit small and not in the "turning to the evil" kind of way) betrayal by him.
Lastly, we'll repeat again what Chat Noir told Ladybug in Truth: "I'm fine with you being the guardian as long as it doesn't change things between us."
Well, this episode clearly proved that things were changing, and the end card is not implying it this time but explicitly showing it even unlike the previous ones: bringing Rena Rouge as a permanent holder might be Ladybug the Guardian's choice and is probably a good one because she needs all the help she can get, but Chat Noir, her partner who has been there for as long as she had, never was consulted to have a say in this new change of dynamic and when all of this will explode, it's gonna be pretty bad - not only in terms of relationship issues, but I fear it might have bigger consequences and give an advantage to Hawkmoth as well.

Rating all of the Secrets Ladybug is keeping from Chat noir by how badly it would emotionally hurt him if he were to find out and being told.
Since we have Chat noir Finding out that Rena Rouge and Carapace knew eachother's identities. Lets put that at a solid 5 /10 as the baseline. 1 being something Chat noir could shrug off. While 10 is him quitting because of emotional destruction to his heart. 5 being hurt but able to move past sooner or later.
-Chat Blanc.
Him finding out: 10/10. Him being told about it by Ladybug: 7 or 8/10
I feel like this one of those that is just going to be emotionally painful regardless. But him finding out Chat blanc was a thing. He would likely blame himself. I think if he saw the full extent of it, seeing how Chat blanc attacked ladybug, destroyed the world... he would probably give up the miraculous himself right then and there. Believing that it would be better if he didnt have it. Likely NOTHING would convince him to keep it.
Now if Ladybug told him about it, likely easing up on details and just used it as an explaination on why their identities cant be known by eachother... it would hurt but I think Chat noir would be a lot more cooperative but also emotionally distraught. But seeing Ladybug telling him this and NOT wanting him to quit would be the factor that lowers the number.
-Ladybug telling someone her identity.
Him finding out: 9/10. Him being told about it by ladybug: 4 or 5/10
Now this one I think if Ladybug explains it well enough, Chat noir would be hurt but would be much more understanding. Oh he will be bitter about it, but it wont make him want to quit. But him finding out that she told someone would be such a betrayal. Him thinking that they both were following the rules only to find out she went behind his back?! Now he could rationalize maybe she was stressed. But this was something that should have been mentioned. This alone would likely have Chat noir questioning everything about his bond with Ladybug. And you really cant blame him.
-Ladybug permanently giving Rena rouge a miraculous/Rena Furtive (both of these are basically one secret)
Him finding out: 10/10. Him having it be explained to him by ladybug. 7.5/10.
Now this one directly impacts chat noir. If he finds out about this. Forget it, any conceptions of Ladybug trusting him were violently stabbed behind a Denny's. Chat noir would likely take off the ring right there and toss it to ladybug. Boy finds out everything he believed about them being trusting partners was violently beaten to death with a bat. There is no explanation ladybug could give him after finding out that would be able to convince him he is trusted and valued.
Now if Ladybug tells Chat noir about it, Oh it will hurt. But he will remember she is the guardian. Its her job to pick new perminant holders. Now I put this at a 7.5 because Adrien knows about nino and Alya. But if not for that, I would put him being told at maybe a 5. Would Chat noir be sad and not feel as special? Probably, but he would at least be relieved Ladybug is telling him this stuff. Besides he would trust Ladybug's judgement on it. Being told this information, he would understand that they need to keep things on the downlow with shadowmoth about (as long as its explained to him.)

My ML Season 5 wishlist
So now that we are officially in hiatus, I will enlist all the things I theorize or want to see next season so when it finally premieres, I can keep track of what ends up happening
I'll keep it pinned so I can keep adding new stuff it occurs to me or that I remember thinking in a past time or that I heard from someone else and loved the idea
First theories, speculations and headcanons:
The first episode will start with the continuation of Strike Back's last scene / GUESSED CORRECTLY (by Gloob's first minute release of Evolution)
The miracuclass will fight - or at least try - not minding they have no powers anymore / GUESSED CORRECTLY
Parisians will also sum up to the fight in one way or another / IN PROCESS (by Gloob's first minute release of Evolution)
The rich adults will be relevant for Hawky's plan, especially Tomoe / IN PROCESS (did you saw Multiplication’s teaser... yeah...)
Adrien is gonna remember about Felix's monocle and find out what it was for... / FAILED (Gabi has it...)
The episode titles are mostly kwami-related but also universe lore-related / IN PROCESS
LB will start to be more open with CN little by little until she finally addresses what happened with Chat Blanc / IN PROCESS (Ladynoir conversation in Perfection my beloved)
Adrien won't trust Felix any time soon and will keep mad with him
Adrien will punch Felix in the face (i know... too ooc...) / HALF-FAILED (I will take Adrien launching the basketball to Felix’s memory in “Multiplication” as a partial succes lol)
Su-Han will finally do something productive and start training LB and CN / FAILED (the bitch has been MIA since Evolution, tho I hope his at least back for the finale)
Chloe actually gets redeemed for good / IN PROCESS (LISTEN! I have a new theory that she can still change for good if they get rid of Audrey at the end)
Secret code between Adrien and LB to know he is the real one / FAILED (yeah i don't think this will happen anymore)
Gabriel will have the "brilliant" idea to wear all the miraculous and perish :) / HALF-GUESSED HALF- FAILED (ok he will perish but not because of the miracoulous, but because of CN's cataclysm... lol?)
An episode will be named "Adrien" / FAILED (I had this in mind but never wrote it here so I'm updating)
Theories, speculations and headcanons from this post:
Alix will finally become the permanent holder of the rabbit miraculous in “Reunion” / HALF-GUESSED (happened in “Evolution”)
Alya will reunite with Trixx in “Reunion” “Illusion” (changed due to recent evidence in “Evolution”) / FAILED (she it didn't happened)
We will see Felix again in “Reunion” (new one) / HALF-GUESSED (Ok he appeared  in “Multiplication” so... much earlier than I thought)
The kwamis will reveal against Gabriel in “Deflagration” / HALF-GUESSED (Plagg cataclysming his own miraculous was chef's kiss)
“Revelation” will have some of the main problems and mysteries solved / HALF-GUESSED (at least we saw a little of wha's going on with Lila, but there's so much more we still don't know...)
“Confrontation” will be mainly about the Agreste-Graham de Vanily / FAILED (well I wouldn't have ever imagined this was gonna be school centric and having Lila be the main villain again)
We will see the Order of the Miraculous in “Collusion” / FAILED (I WAS SO WRONG HAHAHA but what happened at the end is still sooo grounbreaking)
LB will do some guardian badass move in “Revolution”
“Representation” will show us more context about the kwamis
We will see a wish granted in “Conformation”
New theories, speculations and headcanons:
The scarf will make an important comeback
We will see an upgrade of Chat Noir’s costume or powers in “Destruction” / FAILED (the only thing that was destroyed were my theories about this lol... oh and Mothriel's arm)
Ladynoir will recover part of the miraculous in “The Kwamis’ Choice” / HALF-FAILED (probably...)

Husband Plays Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx
[We upgraded to PS5 version so gotta start over]
Oh glitchy
Oh huh. Still looks like a PS2 game but like an upresed PS2 game
Still looks weird but not as weird oh no never mind look at Marinette’s face
You can actually see the textures now though
It loads a lot faster, it does kinda look better. The prerendered cutscenes look worse, but the game looks better
Why is circle the confirm
This actually feels better
“All right! Now that’s a macaron for Tikki!” That’s new. That was not a line before. There’s just more stuff in the PS5 version.
It’s like they took stuff out for PS4
Do you think he’s only allergic to pigeons or birds in general?
What is this game it’s like. Trying.
Still don’t understand why [bosses] have two health bars, but
[Ladybug spinning her yoyo] That’s more circular, too
[Tikki never saw these orbs before] but she has to know if Master Fu knows
Ah Kagami. You got fucking shafted.
I can’t stand on these [objects on the ground]. They have physics!
Oh they fixed another issue! I am thoroughly shook!
You know what I just noticed? I don’t think Alix is in this game.
Alya’s stuck in permanently sassy mode
This game is so much - buh what
Good to see that Chat Noir is still broken as shit.
“Don’t try this at home, kids!” Fuck no if I get the opportunity to run across Paris I’m gonna fucking do it
Look at the shadow. It’s just the rigging, it’s not the model
There’s a map function??
“Sounders! Take care of them!” UMMM. Do they not know what that is? Do you know what that is? [I know what sounding is?] A sounder is the tool used for sounding.
[...oh]
You can actually see her design and it looks good
Ohhh soundwave was the name of the mic brand they used
Wait I missed the friendship bit because I didn’t talk to her right then?
The return of breadfoot disease
It’s weird seeing the texture details and shit but then you see the trees are still squares
Isn’t the Liberty the boat? Why does it have a street sign?
This feels like they got the bad studio to make the game. The sudio that makes Marinette’s hair way too blue.
This series was made to have fanfiction.
I always thought Sabine did the paperwork because Tom was the baker. He’s not smart enough to do the paperwork. He’s a golden retriever.
Fu is still being an asshole. He knows what these orbs are for and isn’t saying it?
What did that do? “Made him wet.” But why?
Why is Tikki a png but Marinette is a render?
The easiest way I can put this game is unintentionally good. If you tried it the way they intended it, it’s bad.
What the fuck
I don’t remember this being this hard
Why does this game have Eminem references
For a game called Rise of the Sphinx there’s very little Sphinx happening. And there’s only 2 more locations I saw?
[You unlocked the power of Smash!] Cat Noir’s gonna smash ya
Aren’t you supposed to be writing this down since we got to new content? “Oh yeah shit”
The music is all dark and I kinda like it
[That looks super bouncy!] That wasn’t bouncy at all.
The rendering on this is still bad.
Who put a macaron in a sewer? I can kind of understand the subway but who wants to eat a sewer macaron?
What does the caterpillar have to do with the sphinx?
Push? Oh that kind of made sense. That’s the first instance of logic I think this game’s had.
The only way I can recommend people playing this game is while drunk which unfortunately I am not. Also on the PS5 because that’s the only one that looks good.
I swear each level is longer than the previous
Oh this is yellow water I don’t wanna touch that
Hey look a Mario pipe. That’s gotta be a reference right? It’s too out of place.
Which one’s the healer???
The silk looks … fine.
Stephanie you’re supposed to be writing stuff you have been missing so many things
Look when Chat does his smash move it’s like his father’s samurai form. “I could believe that’s less because of his father and more because he’s a massive weeb though.” Yes but his father’s ALSO a massive weeb
This is just boring. Tedious? Yeah, tedious.
Also I don’t know if there’s anything that’s even savable aside from a couple of the akuma designs. What does this add to the story of Miraculous?
This feels more like a mobile phone game than anything, like if each section was a minigame and then the rest is just stuff you click on
What did that button do
I just wanna be able to control the camera
[You enjoy smashing things, don’t you Cat Noir?] Yeah you wanna be next?
Why is’t there an icon for where I am on this map
It’s really hard because you don’t really know where you are
This is the first time we’re able to get all the things in a chapter because we have all the powers
Liberate the passage? What the fuck does tghat mean?
Let’s face it, the macarons are more for the side stuff, but that’s pretty cool. This solidifies that if this came out during the PS2 era it would have been beloved
A single macaron. A single macaron. A red macaron! Oh no wait there’s a blue thingy too. We still haven’t been told what these are.
Why? Why did it go that way? What the fuck is this shit?
Mayura??
Wait so she’s just acting on her own??
What is happening ow
Why does the screen keep going black?
What?
What am i supposed to do here
What the fuck was that???
How does this have anything to do with the sphinx???
[A few years back] What? WHAT? Heavy plot I guess
This feels like ship bait
Oh this is definitely a plan
What the fuck was that?
So they’ve been searching for the cat and the bug for years but that doesn’t track with the plot of the show where Emilie has only been in a coma for a year? But what? That doesn’t make sense? This game is canon but can’t be canon?
Wait I thought you could only make a sentimonster from your emotions, not the emotions of others? “No you can use emotions of others” But they NEVER said that. Even when Fu was explaining it he didn’t say that!
And why is the music now Sly Cooper?
Anyways if that’s the case couldn’t she just make Miraculouses off of his desire to have them?
But that’s also not how sentimonsters work! They don’t feed off of ambient emotions! If that was the case, the Ladybug sentimonster would have been exceptionally powerful
This would have made a lot more sense if instead of Chloe it was Lila. The story they’re saying is being told is not what I’ve watched in the show. Unless this is a dumb alternate timeline?
If they wanted to give it the ability to feed on emotions why didn’t he just akumatize the caterpillar
[I could give you a fine for being outside during lockdown!] That comment has not aged well
[There’s nothing we can do against this sentimonster] Except you beat its face in and if you break its amok, it dies!
It’s a sentimonster! You know what they’re made of!
What is the point of this? Why does there need to be a thing after every collection?
You know for a thing called rise of the sphinx, I was expecting a sphinx
I just wanna be through with this game
Let’s get it over with. Alcohol help me.
Chloe doesn’t really have negative emotions. She acts like a bitch but she’s pretty enutral or happy. Unless they’re saying her sorrow for not having the bee miraculous was so great that it did something? I don’t know
Did it just leave? Didn’t even break just popped out of existence?
I feel like we could ignore this entire game and we’d be better off for it
That necklace is clearly meant to mean something but you’re in season 5 and you have no idea
The show is bad because of the age rating it’s stuck in
Are you really surprised that the last fight is gonna be on the Eiffel Tower? They have to include it. I swear it’s part of the contract with the show
Oh I broke out of the bounds of the game. They never tested to see if you could jump over that
Speedrunning tactic? Maybe? Dunno why you’d wanna speedrun this game but hey you can
[it’s started it’s morphing phase!]It’s morphine time! Because that;s what I need to deal with this
This music does not fit miraculous ladybug at all. It feels like it belongs in a horror game.
Maybe these are the eggs. The bouncy cocoons that aren’t bouncy.
‘What the fuck” I’m sorry you expected this game to get good now?
These oddly shaped platforms are not good for platforming who the fuck knew
I don’t know if I can make that. I can make that from here though
There’s a whole lot for you to type isn’t there
Okay what the actual fuck why are these platforms moving
I have fallen into the abyss for the Great One. the Great Carl. since they haven’t given us a name I am calling him Carl.
You know I heard the name rise of the sphinx I thought it was gonna be a cool new enemy that required cosmic power upgrades for the miraculouses but nope it’s just mayura and just a sentimonster
Almost done.
Fuuuuuck it reset my location because I touched ground. The Great Carl is surely disappointed in me.
Hello let us fight
Oh man this is a great camera angle! [the camera is behind some silk]
Um what the fuck happened there? Did I sink into the garage and just couldn’t hit the servant of the Great Carl?
What the fuck that’s not where we just were! [sign behind Ladybug says Rivoli] Ravioli!
That’s not a sphinx!
It’s not a sphinx!
Aha you missed where are those lights coming from??
Uuuuuugh now I have to do a whole other cycle
It’s already halfway dead! How is it perfection?
Uuuugh fuck off with this shit!
[it’s coming back!] it never left!
Is it only vulnerable in that one spot??
This is so stupid. This is so stupid. Despair powder? That’s it’s power?
There’s no point in this cutscene if it doesn’t result in the choice of a player
When? What? How did he get those photos?
Oh we’re fighting Hawkmoth!
Oh that was the final boss
What is that thing supposed to do?
Even if he dies he’ll just get miraculous ladybugged back to life
[the butterfly purification animation plays to purify the feather] UM
AND THAT’S THE END? There’s no ending cutscene? No end credits theme??
There’s gotta be an epilogue or something
This game would’ve been better called Hawkmoth’s Evolution or Life of a Moth or something. Not Rise of the Sphinx.
Let’s just talk to Alya and end this shit
They had the opportunity to create an entire new set of lore and they just made it sentimonster bullshit
KAGAMI save this game please
Why am I drawing this ame out even further
Is this gonna be some bullshit about the strength of the human experience
Actually Hawkmoth didn’t have an akuma active when Ladybug gave into despair, so he could have just akumatized her then
KAGAMI
Nooo you only have three opportunities to be her friend
God Luka’s gonna turn this into some stupid music thing
Wait but they did that. But they JUST did that.
KAGAMI where are you why are there so few opportunities to talk to you
That’s just not Chloe. That’s just not how she acts at all. She’s a hero worshipper at her core.
Well that’s the game I think
Was it worth it

Akuma that can show times when someone did something terrible/lied hits Lila and reveals her lies and that she threatened Marinette.
Conscience
Crush you with the weight of sins-Arcana Chronicles
Cally was a competitive girl with a strong sense of fairness, truth and justice.
So you can imagine her outrage at losing a debate contest to Chloé’s paltry speech
The principal was a corrupt coward.
Ms Bustier coddled the bully.
What kind of school is this?
Cally became a prime target for Hawkmoth. He turned her into Conscience. Basically she looks like an angel but with a sword. (I was inspired by Arcana Chronicles)
Tumblr media
Whoever she points her sword at will be crushed to the floor by invisible weights. Everything they did wrong will be played out above their flattened bodies. The longer the list of sins, the more your body is being crushed.
The only way to escape is to feel genuine remorse and apologize. Not apologize just so you can get up again and stop the memory recap.
Damocles was down, and his face flushed with humiliation as his crimes of embezzling school funds is revealed. That kind of pales the other incidents where is unfairly biased and uncaring towards his students.
Caline is surprised her pampering Chloé is a sin. She wonders if the akuma’s powers of justice are biased because how can forgiving a bully be a sin?
Conscience: Because when they don’t get punished, they don’t learn from their mistakes, you idiot excuse for a teacher!
Chloé was a selfish brat who does have remarkable agility skills. So she quickly used Lila as a shield.
Conscience was kind of surprised that Lila was weighed down. “My powers excuse the minor sins like white lies or silent jealousy, but what could charitable Lila have done to be suffocating?”
Cue memory recap. Not just of her bullying Marinette and ripping off her classmates, but also working with Hawkmoth to kill Ladybug, sending forged hate letters to a former classmate who then committed suicide, and kicking intuitive growling puppies unconscious so she would look like she was cradling peaceful sleeping puppies to her old classmates.
Conscience: wow...you are seriously messed up....
The currently-being-crushed Lila did not respond. She was too busy gasping for air as her lungs gave out.
Conscience: is it really a crime to kill her? This girl is a menace. Oh well, where’s Chloé Bourgeois?!
Chat: hiding! Obviously.
While everyone was watching the Lila horror show, the heroes arrived and also watched the show.
Conscience growled. “Oh come on! You have no right to be heroes when you let Chloé continue being one! Seriously??? After she sabotaged a train, endangering lives to make herself look good, you still gave her a miraculous when she was going to leave for New York! You practically encouraged her to stay and continue ruining our lives. All you’ve done is boosted her ego. Let’s see how you handle the weight of your own sins!”
By luck, she managed to pin Chat. And while everyone watched him sulk at being rejected, lying about dating Ladybug to Theo, Ladybug cast her lucky charm, a mini disco ball, at Conscience.
Conscience swung her sword and the disco ball got stuck on the point.
The power reflected and Conscience was now pinned by her own sins of humiliating others and pretty much killing Lila.
Breaking the sword, Ladybug cast her cure, resurrecting Lila as well.
Cally woke up. “I’m guessing I was akumatized.”
Ladybug knelt down. “Yes, you were. And I’m sorry for the injustices you’ve had to face. Truly, I am. I myself admit I’ve made my fair share of mistakes, ones that have come back to haunt me. So I hope you believe me when I say I’m sorry if my mistakes have affected your life.”
Cally raised a brow. “Are you just saying that because Alya is currently live-streaming this?”
Ladybug turned and sure enough, Alya was recording. “Not really. But since she’s here. I will clarify something. Chloé was not my first choice to wield the bee miraculous. I gave her a second chance because I saw potential in her to improve herself and redeem herself. But Chloé was never meant to be a permanent bee heroine since Hawkmoth knows her identity. I had only hoped being trusted with the miraculous once would at least help Chloé grow. I’m sorry to see that I was wrong.”
While humiliating Chloé live was not exactly good, Ladybug could not continue to let Chloe’s ego inflate any further.
During this incident, Alya had been live-streaming everything. And it was enough to get the school board involved. Damocles had been sacked and fined. Caline was transferred to a different school and class where the students liked to bully the teacher instead of each other. Let’s see if Caline will stick to her stubborn belief after this.
Lila was sent to jail outside of Paris. In solitary confinement, Lila began to grow mad from her isolation.
As for Chloé, while her mother encouraged her nastiness and her father spoilt her rotten, the threat of exiling the Bourgeois family from Paris if it meant getting rid of the blond brat became apparent when mass strikes were held outside the hotel and bad reviews removed any star ratings. These riots encouraged akumas to fight the police.
At last, the mayor conceded to send his daughter away from this hostile city for her safety. Instead of choosing to leaving for New York, Chloé was now forced to leave Paris.
Chat apologized to Ladybug for his behavior and promised to be better. And Ladybug herself resolved to think more with her head and of possible consequences. After all, she partially gave Chloé a second chance because Adrien influenced her.
