Absolutely love your writing for all the AU/5 headcanons asks. Can I ask: AU where Rei cheats on Endeavor with All Might? It happens after AM's injury, so she doesn't recognize him, and he ofc doesn't know that she's married in the first place, much less to whom

you make this very difficult for me by giving me a window of 6 and half years for them to have an affair and for every single moment of that window, Rei is institutionalized. how am i supposed to get them to meet, much less take their clothes off. ok. think. there are other fic writers who specialize in this kind of thing, surely. what would they do....

1- ok so. The fire alarm at the hospital goes off. Rei doesn't know if it's a drill or not, but she's been there for seven years and generally does not need a lot of support during something like this like other patients do, so the nurses wave her out and she stands around outside a bit waiting for the fire alarm to stop and them to go back in. (It isn't a drill, they wouldn't have evacuated everyone if it was, but Rei is on the other side of the building and facing away from seeing any smoke) (This smoke is from a villain attack that All Might is taking care of, though he's only got seconds left of his power to use that day. he quickly rushes off, deflating and stumbling out on the other side of the hospital. Where Rei is.)

2- Rei is like "huh that guy doesnt seem to be in good shape" and kinda waves attention at him, and a nurse who's passing out water to patients and keeping an eye on the road gives Toshinori some too, getting more concerned when he dazedly answers that he's All Might and coughs up blood, but the nurse figures he's concussed since he smells of smoke and must have been closer to the fight, and is just reeling from being able to see the number one hero in person. Then they get distracted and wave Toshi to wait nearby, where Rei offers to chill his water and asks if he's alright, if he breathed in any smoke.

3- They chat and then go back into the hospital as it's un-evacuated together, Rei hanging out in the lobby where he sits as the hospital staff focus on getting everyone else back to their rooms. It pays to be low priority sometimes. Eventually she tells him her name is Rei and that she's in room K18, if he ever wants to visit or call. She doesn't get to talk to anyone except doctors, family visitors, or other paitients, and most of them don't stay nearly as long as she does. It's been seven years, and she's very lonely. Toshinori is lonely too, and when he's out of time for a day and feeling useless with nothing to do, he likes to talk to a friend.

4- Rei has been in the hospital for eight years when it gets physical. At that point, Toshinori knows a bit about her family. She has kids, mentions visits from a son and daughter, and then quietly mentioned when her son turned seventeen- her daughter's already twenty. She's been there for so much of their lives. He asks if she's married, and she admits she isn't sure how to file for divorce in a hospital like she is, if she even can, if she wants to because she'd lose custody, if it matters when she's not raising them anyway. He doesn't ask much more, knows there is a dead child and a baby she says isn't safe with her there. Toshinori never called Nana 'mom' to her face while she was alive, and had a reason for it, and has a similar reason for not asking more, not asking for the other names when he gets Fuyumi and Natsuo's. Yes, the doctors and nurses all know Rei has a boyfriend who visits. they don't say anything. who would they even tell, anyway. I debated the humor of reusing the bit from candlelight shoto that Toshi and Rei could have a kid with a fire quirk, but yeah here? Rei ain't getting pregnant, absolutely not.

5- When Natsuo turns eighteen, Rei does actually file for divorce, or at least tries to get the ball rolling on that. Toshinori's trusted her that her marriage is over in all but name, but he's more at ease with it ended fully. Fuyumi is crushed but burying it all deep inside. Natsuo is like 'what are you talking about. divorce is the most normal possible outcome here.' But anyway, Rei also begins to bring up being discharged- something she never bothered with earlier, when it seemed like she'd never be able to go home while Shoto was there, and never would want to go back anyway. (Her parents are absolutely not an option either so where would she go once discharged? the hospital was her only security.) Toshinori then tells her at this point about his diagnosis, that he's supposed to be terminal, in a way. He doesn't have a lot of time he can give her. Rei says that's ok, she'll take what she can get. She moves in. Fuyumi still goes out to eat with her once a week, though Rei doesn't say she's moved in with a boyfriend, just says she's in a safe place and it's not Fuyumi's job to worry about it, please, let her do that, relax, be her daughter instead of a mother. Natsuo adds her to his cellphone plan and gets her one. Rei doesn't tell Toshinori her ex's identity. Toshinori doesn't tell her about OfA, though she does know he's mentoring a student for heroics and is very proud of him. (Toshinori is a secretary at Might Tower, he's a great mentor. Oh huh, he got a job position at UA at the same time as All Might, she wonders if they carpool.)

+1- OK THE REVEAL so the reveal is. Toshinori gets home from the SF. And Rei almost knocks him out by the door, eyes wide and panicked, asking if he's ok, if Shoto's ok. Toshinori is like "... young todoroki? yeah he's alright? i know his fight with young bakugo looked bad but- Rei???" And that's when it all clicks for him, he's having dozens of horrible realizations at once, all while Rei weeps over her youngest. Toshinori's been a hero for a very, very long time. He's felt hopeless, before. But even then, he's known what needs to be done, he just isn't able to do it. But now? he's at a complete loss with no idea what he should do.

The first Splatoon game turned 8 yesterday!

#the last (and first) time i drew anniversary art for the first game was when it turned 1 year #imna use the tags to be all sappy real quick: #ive been a huge fan of the splatoon series since the first game & have played it since day one #splatoon is the first time ive grown up with a game series from the beginning #like i knew it was gonna be a successful game that'd eventually grow and become a series w/ a cool fanbase #for first/third person shooter games (esp multiplayer)- i could never call myself a fan of those #but the moment splatoon debuted in an e3 trailer??? it took a concept i'd normally go meh to- but made it into smthn colorful/unique #like??? weeks after the announcement i was already gushing over what the lore would be in their universe #it got really tiring seeing all the hate it received- id watch ppl stream it out of interest and their chat'd be like uggh this ass title? #or id watch gamers do one single lets play of it and be like oh ok i can see how this game is fun (me assuming they'd doubt it's potential) #but to see how much splatoon as a series has grown has me kinda emotional ngl #like yeah sure theres still ppl outside the fandom who has (or still has since the 1st game) sour opinions about it #but ever since the fandom grew over those 8 years- it feels like the love for this series outshines that #but man.... i said this already on twt but i remember going to my first color run event locally w/ my family #(this happened weeks before the game came out btw) -but id have my phone out with the inklings on my screen #and id look at my phone & feel this happiness (that i havent felt in a while tbh) at being in an event that had a lot of colors in it #and at the time seeing all the powdered colors flying everywhere at the end of the race reminded me of splatoon sm i was like raaaaah #WOW SORRY FOR THE LONG TAGS LOL #BUT YEAH- I LOVE THIS SERIES (thats all i wanted to say) #splatoon #splatoon anniversary #splatoon 8th anniversary #fanart #loafbud

wow ok i gotta dump a bunch of lore from the story i've got going on in my mind with this au lol

also thank you izzy for that very awesome idea of the antagonist having a polluting stand thats literally SUCH good idea ok. im obsessed with it.

so, some of you who have read the lore about skagen know he nearly drowned as a kid but got caught on a fisherman's hook and thats how he got the fucked up eye and scar.

well in this au, the hook he was using is one that he found washed up on a beach. he doesnt really know or understand why he felt compelled to use that hook; it looked really old and kinda useless compared to his modern ones. it was made out of something that looked like bone, and when he touched it, to his surprise it was still extremely sharp; sharp enough to poke through his skin and make him bleed. without really thinking about it he set out to go fishing and thats when he caught skagen on his hook, saving him from almost drowning yadda yadda.

what the fisherman didnt realise until later is that the hook awakened stands in both him and skagen.

years later,  authorities are noting a quick decline in the local marine wildlife on the swedish west coast. after testing the water they also notice an absurd amount of pollutants in the water. local fishers are forced to go out further with their vessels in order to even be able to catch anything that isnt completely full to the brim with plastics or half dead from oil. the weird thing is, nobody has really seen any oil spills in the area. nobody has reported anything about it either.

but there is one fisherman who still manages to sell quite a bit, and he quickly becomes someone that everyone on the islands know about. after all hes pretty much the only one that keeps fishing in the same waters and seemingly has no problem despite the worsening conditions of the ocean.

fish, birds, seals keep washing up dead on the beaches and it eventually becomes a huge problem and people are concerned for not only the wildlife's health but also the humans.

skagen and his parents are not being able to catch or sell anything, and people are slowly beginning to turn their eyes towards the lone fisherman that doesnt seem to have any problem. most people accuse him of simply being a dickhead who sells sick poisoned fish to people without caring for anyone elses health, however skagen gets an odd feeling every time he passes him by the docks, like something is tugging at his very soul. he tells solvei about this, and while she doesnt get him she of course trusts him. the two of them decide to confront him one evening at the docks when the fisherman is returning back after a day at sea. the second solvei (in her kinda intense and eager way) starts questioning him, he gets his fishing rod out and immediately attacks her by throwing the hook at her face. it gets caught under her chin, slicing the skin from chin to lip. the fisherman flees on his boat, like a coward. skagen brings out his stand förutan vind on pure instinct and sits down to helps solvei stop the bleeding, but as he does, he turns to watch the fisherman leave. they both lock eyes, and skagen can see the fisherman also has a stand. he slowly starts to connect the dots of the entire archipelagos situation from the last couple of years.

and so solvei develops and stand as well, which is called sunnanvind! my idea with her stand is that it can heat the air and create mirages, but heating the air also means it can create deadly temperatures in a small given area. it also uses its "tail" to attack on a shorter range, kind of whipping its enemy like a thresher shark does to its prey.

OH AND ALSO. förutan vinds ability! in typical jojo fashion none of it makes sense irl but whatever. it can basically force the winds into meeting and cancel each other out, essentially "freezing" the air in place. when it does this it can basically hit pause on the air, that includes the air in peoples lungs, including skagens lungs. the area of effect on this ability is 5m from the stand, so whenever skagen uses this ability he has to move out of the way. this ability is also limited to roughly 2 minutes before it tires skagen out too much. other than this ability, it can redirect and force winds in whatever direction it needs to, enabling him to sail even when there is no natural wind. because han kan segla förutan vind >:)

You know thinking about it Riku could also be a Lovers Arcana character. His story + arc very much revolves around his relationships with other characters (particularly his family and most importantly himself).

Captain is ultimately his arcana however because I feel like his stubbornness and his like willingness to keep going is what makes him a Chariot character (as Captain is an alternative to Chariot). He's also a very devoted/emotional character and I think that plays into it too!

It's been really interesting getting into the process of making, writing, and studying the structure of books as I'm in the middle of writing a very long fanfiction. It's like yes my writing has improved, but I'm able to point out critiques I wouldn't have even considered back when I was writing early on or even as early as a year ago. Like the masterminds in tbos never got physical descriptions because I was just like "here's their refs" in the notes but I'm going to have to adjust that if I do an audio reading for example. Or descriptions of places that seriously would have benefitted from a description two dozen chapters ago instead of now. Just things like that. I'm rambling while waiting for breakfast to cook

#getting book autism has been really fascinating. you get to view the medium in a new technical light #being able to tell the differences between the medium of novels and of audiobooks and how they can make or break a story is also really cool #as well as the difference between books and fanfiction and how both mediums have their ups and downs #idk man writing is a form of art to me so being able to critique my own in hindsight with New Knowledge is really cool to me #sure it can be discouraging its like when ur technical prowess supercedes your physical ability when drawing #but?? idk. its cool! i encourage people to read more books if youre a writer #i want to write books as a living someday and getting back into reading was ESSENTIAL for structure and cohesion #fanfic is reallt fun but you cant rely on it for reference if you want to write a novel. and thats okay! #you just have even more things to read now! :> #it can be hard finsing a book that fits for you and that can also be discouraging. i just got out of a like 3 month reading slump bc i- #-wasnt finding anything #oh man i cant shut up now #tldr talk to me about books. i love books #my partner hyperfixatrd on the publishing industry last yrar and i sort of osmosis'd and created my own brand of autism through it #its pretty great #okay wow these sre a lot of tags. im gonna go cook my eggs now
