i vote that next year instead of reading Dracula we do a Jeeves & Wooster Book Club. those two never got the rabid tumblr shipping fandom they deserved (disqualified for the sheer technicality of being published a century too soon). we must correct this injustice

ALSO for your angst dpxdc consideration: danny would absolutely still be considered a meta. the term "meta" is used in a very vague, umbrella way where basically anyone who isn't a normal human is a meta. so even without the proper meta gene, danny would still be considered a meta by basically everyone (especially bruce). canonically speaking, danny isn't just a normal booooo kinda ghost - he also has some insane powers (like his ghost wail!) so he'd be considered a person with superpowers and therefore a meta.

so when you're writing dpxdc fics, please consider this! danny would be a meta in the dcu! kick that kid out of gotham!!!!

Kaeya runs after Klee across the vast and open grasslands of Mondstadt. Their giggles are scattered by the winds, sounding much like a duet between wind chimes and piano keys.

Diluc stares in wonder from a distance.

He swears he could see his father chasing both him and Kaeya across the very same fields. He could hear their giggles- like a symphony, being scattered by the same winds. His father scoops down and reaches for the red and blue blurs. He manages to capture the both of them, eliciting loud laughter and protests.

Then Diluc blinks.

The illusion falls. It was Kaeya, not their father, who managed to capture the giggling little girl instead of two young boys, spinning her around as he hugged her tightly.

Diluc may have his father's hair.

His father's nose.

His father's mind.

He still isn't like his father at all. In his opinion, his similarities with the man are all superficial.

Diluc feels an ache in his chest as he continues to observe the duo dance together, as if they were in their own little world.

Diluc turns around and walks back home alone with one thought in mind.

Kaeya is like their father in the ways that mattered the most.

The first time Prince Alex says it, in one of his letters, Prince Henry has to re-read what it says, afraid he has imagined it. There it is in print, though, at the end of his letter, for the first time ever: Love, Alex. When Prince Henry read those words, he – well, his fifteen-year-old mind- had already been in love with Alex for longer than he remembers not being. He continues to write as if nothing has changed, his mind working around in circles as to what those words really mean. The prince knows they are young, Alex a year younger than him even, but he contemplates over and over the possibility that what he feels at just fifteen years of age is love and that it might be returned. The words continue to be there at the bottom of every letter Alex sends, and Henry bides his time. He knows they are too young for anything to happen, but he knows he will have forever to get there. He has always felt a connection to Alex, and now he thinks he knows what that connection is and why he felt that pull towards him even when they were younger. It's on Prince Alex’s fifteenth birthday that it all comes to a head; Prince Henry, newly sixteen by just a couple of weeks, has been in his head all day, and his friend notices. Prince Alex drags him off to the Green Room in the palace in Claremont so they can be alone, without all the other people around. It’s a room that holds sentimental value to the boys as they spent many days in this room, playing any variation of games their young minds could make up. It’s the room they often run to when things become a little too much for one of them; their families know if they need to find them to look there.

there’s been like half a dozen episodes where Spock is put in a situation where Vulcan emotional repression is lifted or neutralised by some external force and he immediately becomes happy and carefree but like he’s clearly overwhelmed in a he’s-never-been-outside kind of way like he says things about his own emotions like is this happiness such a wrong thing to admit? and specifically in the All Our Yesterdays episode McCoy is being racist to him and Spock slams him up against a wall and says I don’t like that and I don’t think I ever have. like emotions are clearly emancipatory for him in a lot of ways. and then the episode ends and he goes back to normal and it doesn’t come up again until the next time this happens

Just out of curiosity... Since Aedrick has been soft in love with MC since the beginning, what WOULD he have done had MC actually married Aedan? *Especially* if down the line Aedan makes it obvious how little he actually does care for MC. For added drama, maybe throw in an am affair with Royal Mistress Helene

This scenario would happen if Ædan hadn't met Helene prior to his and MC's wedding, meaning that Ædan is still keeping up his act as a loving fiancé.

In this case, Ædric would pretty much be like Angelica in the Hamilton musical with her line in the song Satisfied,

"At least I keep his eyes in my life."

because all he sees at this point is that Ædan is treating MC well and MC is happy. Ædric would lock away his feelings and throw the box into the deepest pits of hell if it meant that MC would always be as radiant as they were on their wedding day, and just being able to witness everyday how their eyes seem to twinkle when they smile, even when those smiles aren't meant for him, is an added bonus that he would always be grateful for.

Ædan would still maintain his façade as the ideal husband until he meets and falls in love with Helene.

As he gets to know Helene, the time he'd spend with MC would diminish over time, always giving them excuses so that he could meet with Helene in secret, until he realizes that he loves Helene. Then he would bring her to the palace as his mistress.

Meanwhile, with Ædan gone from the palace on his clandestine rendezvous, Ædric would keep MC company, but he wouldn't see it as an opportunity to get MC to fall in love with him. It's just him spending time with someone because he cares about them, like how he'd spend time with his family and his buddy Bertrand because they're the most important people in his life.

But oh boy, being in love with someone you can't be with is hard. Everyday he thinks that he couldn't possibly fall deeper in love with MC, and every night he just ends up with his head in his hands because damn was he wrong.

I'll try to move on tomorrow for sure. I just have to give them a polite greeting and be on my way. No more inviting them to have a break together. No more finishing work early to have dinner with them. No more checking in on them in their office. I have to get over them.

But when he sees MC the next day, his resolve instantly shatters, like it does everyday, like it has done everyday ever since he fell in love with them.

Tomorrow again, tomorrow for sure.

The day that Ædan brings Helene to the palace as his mistress is the day that Ædric nearly commits fratricide.
