Ooooh that person's video essay has a similar idea to mine!!! If you don't mind me rambling, here's my idea. (I wanted to reply to the post directly but it has a text limit waaa) Vocaloids are metaphysical beings who inhabit a different plane of existence from ours, the World Between Sekai. These Vocaloids have a incredibly powerful drive to sing songs, as much as we need food and water and air. As such, they are constantly on the hunt for Sekai, who manifest in the plane as a person or group of people's true feelings in the physical world. These Vocaloids can instantiate themselves into a Sekai, "splitting" themselves from the main Vocaloid and creating an instance of themselves in the Sekai, which is how multiple Sekai Vocaloids can exist as well as the one who walks in the World Between. The instantiated Sekai Vocaloid then becomes influenced by the person's True Feelings, which makes their appearance and personality shift accordingly. (Tangentially, this is my hc for why Niigo Miku looks so fucked up. Mafuyu's despair was that strong, and it was very painful for Miku to get hit with All That when she first manifested). Instantiated Sekai Vocaloids are only vaguely aware of their source Vocaloid and of their other selves, but only the Source has full awareness of all their instances.

But yeah, the point of all of this is so the Vocaloids can tend to the Sekai, in hopes of getting it to "bear fruit" and have those True Feelings turn into a song that they can sing! Sometimes they all they need to do is wait it out, but in the case of the Project Sekai units, the human owners of the Sekai need extra assistance. That's why the Vocaloids pull them in and basically act as therapists/friends/listening ears. It's a symbiotic relationship: the human gets their life together and feelings sorted out, and the Vocaloids get a new song! They're basically like gardeners, with the Sekai being fruits to tend and harvest. (A Miku limited card design even made this comparison explicitly lmao)

Of course, this is just a general case. There are many different Vocaloids (not just the Cryptonloids) and there are just as many different reasons why they enter Sekai. A very big reason, however, is just to get to experience doing human things. I personally headcanon that the VBS-loids just wanted a coffee shop to hang out in, which is why they don't really do much for the human kids. However, Miku in particular loves humans and their lives, so she tries to enter as many Sekai as she can, and gets incredibly invested in the stories of their owners. As I said, she's the first to enter, and the last to leave (if she ever leaves).

Of course, a Sekai can get super fucked up or abandoned, and it's up to each individual Vocaloid to decide if they want to ollie out or not. The original concept for Project Sekai involved a Sekai for each and every song, so there is definitely no shortage of fucked up Sekai out there (ohai Fear Garden, Dark Woods Circus, Kaito Ga Uninstall, etc. etc.)

I've also thought of the possibility that a Vocaloid can be so consumed by their Sekai-given personality that they lose all self-awareness and forget that they're an instance of a higher being at all. As far as they know, they've always been in this Sekai. The Sekai becomes their only reality, all knowledge of a human Sekai owner and other Sekai and the World Between lost. I'm specifically thinking of the Evillious vocaloids in this case hahaha. Though I guess if we're bringing Evillious into it, maybe it's because the Evillious Sekai is just so large and complex that a Vocaloid can't do anything but get caught up in it.

On a more serious note, I believe that Sekai continue to persist even if the owner is deceased. In those cases, most other Vocaloids usually leave. Miku always stays behind. The human can no longer be helped, but someone has to guard their True Feelings, at least, that's what she thinks.

Oh lord I typed a lot HAHAHAHAHA thank you if you actually read all this, as I said I have so many thoughts, I hope that mine can help you with your brainstorming!

and I LOVE THIS SO MUCH and like. agree with a lot of it. (and on the 25ji Miku train of thought: I agree with this a lot and also... god. If it wasn't for them wanting to keep the other designs simple for 3DMV purposes, I feel like KAITO really should have had just as much of a design shift too, in some way.)

And man-- that makes absolute sense with Evillious too. There's so much freaking lore behind that, that they BECOME those specific characters. (>decides to skirt past the implications of it coming from memories would mean)

god I also was thinking about if the person died too-- and agree, it probably would persist, though it's sad to think about.

...which has me kind of sadly muse about if someone in a group died, and the rest of the group going back to that Sekai... ...but also musing, if humans continued to visit Sekai from time to time, that going on until they die, and then the Virtual Singers (especially Miku) being left alone there.....

...also thinks about 25ji Kaito again, and how odd he strikes me. I wonder how VS's being called in or manifesting works. He seemed to know exactly where he was, but responded to seeing Miku in a very distant way, just 'you're the miku of this Sekai'

Mafuyu's suppressed anger at her situation likely also strong enough that it changed the normally kind, accommodating, occasionally a bit of a doormat KAITO into someone rude, intense, and Angry All The Time At Everything-- manifesting from her rage, a manifestation of rage... and yet, still aware of the outside (it seemed anyhow), and aware he had a purpose there... like, he was a man on a mission.

...and also just tangentially thinking, I can't help but think of his card. That's the darkest we had seen the Sekai, and-- normally in those cards, the sekai particles (the triangles) are lighter colored. Like, for the Empty background, there's some slightly darker ones up in the sky, but they're not as intense-- KAITO's entrance the area looked stormy in colors, the sparkles straight up black. ...I don't have anywhere this is going, it's just absolutely fascinating to me.

...which-- wait, actually, the songs. I watched the Len entrance earlier, and he had mentioned the Sekai already birthed a song--- so technically, it already bore fruit, but. ...the situation is incomplete. Because Mafuyu is still in the situation she's in...

... I REALLY need to actually write this stuff down and organize it, goodness.

We are kicking off @week-of-revo ! I chose the Fantasy prompt for today and I'm taking full advantage of the polyship inclusion, so here's an Encourageshipping adventuring party! Yugi is the mage, Téa is the melee fighter and the face, and Atem is the long range fighter. With the soft coloring and background, I was able to get a kind of storybook feel that I'm really happy with! I'm also really proud of these designs ^.^

For day 3 of @week-of-revo, I chose the Gaming prompt! Téa and Atem become a powerful impostor duo in Among Us! I got a little carried away with this one, and you might have to open the images in a new tab to read some of the dialogue ^^;

Among Us is probably my favorite game to imagine characters playing together. It’s varied but still simple, and you can get so many unique interactions out of it.

Well, this was less than ideal. Olve was just glad that he hadn’t been forced into one of the birdcages he’d seen on the way in to the “Undercroft” - what a name. With a sigh, he paused at the entrance to the dormitory, letting his tired eyes move over the large room, taking it all in. “Peachy....” he muttered to himself as he fiddled with the collar around his neck, “Just peachy.” It was gong to take all his luck as a kirin and then some to get out of this one, he was sure of it.

The Pelle/Dani Receipts, Post 11: The May Queen

The last lap of the film is the culmination of two separate tracks: one, Dani breaking with Christian, coming to terms with her grief, and sloughing off her old life, and two, Dani being embraced by her new family and, with that final, slightly-mad smile, finding joy with them. Much as in the “Do you feel held by him?” scene, Ari masterfully keeps the final scenes of Midsommar walking that tightrope between validating the Pelle/Dani romance and minimizing it in order to center Dani’s broader character arc and story, and to that end, he doesn’t even wobble. Still, he can’t get out of this without some explicit (though not explicit) mushy stuff for the OTP, and that, of course, is why we’re here.

We already mentioned the dance competition in the context of Pelle and Team Hårga winnowing Christian real good so he can be Maja’s baby daddy, but this is yet another opportunity for Pelle to demonstrate to Dani the contrast between him and Christian. As Dani begins to dance, Pelle is right up front, attentively, patiently, smilingly watching. She has every bit of his attention and support. Meanwhile, Christian stumbles into the audience late, burdened and internally roiling after his meeting with Siv.

Now, we don’t know how Christian ultimately answered the Matriarch when she asked if he would mate with Maja. Ari, the imp, cuts away. Not to taint our favorite scene with comparison, but very like Dani’s protests in “Do you feel held by him?” Christian’s evasions, more pronounced in the Director’s Cut (“I’m here with somebody,” “We haven’t even talked.”) are frail, toothless things against the truth joined with temptation. He doesn’t love Dani. And he does want Maja. By the time he comes to watch the dance competition, Dani dancing is the furthest thing from Christian’s mind, even though betraying her is the crux of his dilemma.

And do please remember that Siv proposes this ritual snuggling to Christian as something Dani will not know about, so he really is contemplating betraying her, as opposed to what Pelle suggests to Dani.

This is the contrast that waits for Dani during a break in the dance. Pelle smiles at her flirtatiously, even proudly, and silently applauds--totally here for you, Dani--while Christian is literally looking the other direction, back towards where Maja--oops, I got myself eliminated, teehee!--has taken her seat. During the dance, Dani is, yes, tripping balls and speaking gibberish, but she is still having the best time ever. So, initially exhilarated, Dani wilts the moment she sees Christian, and if we were going to argue that Dani doesn’t reciprocate Pelle’s feelings, the visible heartbreak on her face here would be Exhibit A. Except people are more complicated than that. Relationships are more complicated than that. Dani is definitely more complicated than that. Letting go still can hurt long after you know it’s over.

All that being said, even the most complicated relationship stuff can get simple real quick with a grand, unambiguously romantic gesture, and as Dani is crowned May Queen, finally, finally, finally, we get one. No evasions, no apophasis. Stunned, still kind of high, Dani’s new family washes her away in a tide of congratulations. Odd welcomes her home again, in Swedish this time, and it’s just a lovebomb lovefest all the way down. The only ones who don’t hug and/or paw at Dani are hallucinations (or are they) of her parents in Hårgan garb, her mom laying one surrendering caress on Dani’s shoulder as she passes by, and, of course, Christian, poor dope, standing by the maypole, looking every bit as alone and lost as Dani probably has felt up to this point. The Fire Temple is a ways off, but he will never again be allowed close to her. They are over.

At the end of the procession, for maximum dramatic effect, Dani’s happy Hårgan sisters tilt her toward OHAI PELLE. As Pelle bends down to her, initially he appears to be in supportive friend mode, (“My God, Dani! May Queen!”), but then he just sweeps Dani up in a kiss that isn’t long enough to stop the ceremony, but just long enough to be undeniably romantic. In the script, the kiss is actually described as a “blunt, passionate kiss.” While so much of the Pelle/Dani ship is not scripted, here it is plain: Pelle, now wearing the Wunjo rune, is Dani’s wish for an understanding, loving partner come true, and for the minute she can be spared from the procession, he is kissing her for all he’s worth. Let’s just watch this on a loop for a while.

This is the moment that has launched several thousand “Did Pelle like Dani?” Google searches, and it looks like a freaking wedding because it kind of is. Look at all the Hårgans bursting with happiness, not just for Dani, but for them. We are all Hårgans because all Hårgans are clearly Pelle/Dani shippers. (Okay, there’s something going on with Inga, but that’s a different analysis post.) Dagny in particular looks like she’s going to cry. My sweet brother birthmate found him a newblood and they are the cutest. Both Pelle and Dani are in full Hårgan dress for this kiss, as though their relationship always had to be consummated with Dani fully planted in the fifth panel of the spoiler tapestry. Also note that the pink flower in Dani’s crown reflects her heartbeat. Notice how it speeds right on up while she’s in Pelle’s arms. At this point, Dani might yet equivocate--not that she’s very equivocal in the moment--but crown flowers don’t lie.

Christian probably doesn’t see this moment. In addition to succumbing to “the tea with special properties,” he’s watching from the maypole, and Dani and Pelle would have been obscured from that vantage by a few dozen white-clad bodies. But if he cared enough about Dani to celebrate her triumph instead of blankly witness it, if he had been able to refuse the tea...but then, if he cared that much, we wouldn’t have had a movie.

Once Pelle surrenders Dani, the happiest and proudest of all possible soft cult boys, she’s urged toward a litter in the shape of the sun and lifted high off the ground. The Hårgans serenade their queen in a procession to the dinner table, Pelle prominent among them, his hands arranged in a cradling gesture previously seen when the Hårgans burned Dan’s body. This is an assumption, but it seems a fair one, that the gesture conveys Pelle bearing Dani’s spirit, even if he’s not one of those physically carrying her litter. In the wide shot, you will notice they are sailing Dani right past an image of Terri hidden in the trees. In this scene, Dani is very literally leaving her birth family and Christian behind. When Dani takes her throne at the head of the mirrored banquet table, Pelle will placidly sketch the moment, and as previously mentioned, we’ll see him reflected in the table surface, indicating how he’s still plotting even in that idyllic moment which would seem to be the culmination of all his hopes and dreams. After all, Christian’s still breathing.

Sadly, this concludes the dramatized Dani/Pelle content. We know. We’re sad, too. In the major scenes around the kiss itself--the serenade, the photograph, the dinner after her crowning--Pelle is near Dani, but not next to Dani. No more close communicating reaction shots. We can see Pelle enthusiastically toast Dani at the dinner table, and she seems to trade a sly, flirty smile with him immediately afterward, but that’s it. We can’t even see Pelle’s reaction when Dani gags on the pickled herring. In the final ceremony, Pelle’s crowned, too, just as the movie has been promising all along, but he and Dani don’t share the stage or even a single shot. Blocking and camerawork, so suggestive of their love story up to the point Pelle lays a good ‘un on her, suddenly becomes a blue-nosed chaperone. But consider what the film would be like, what it would have to become, otherwise. Midsommar isn’t primarily a romance anymore than it’s primarily a horror movie. Nope, it’s not a horror movie either, not really. It’s Dani’s story; it just happens to have smooches and blood eagles in it. So the kiss is a great moment, but it’s going to have to last you. (Hey, would you like to see our fanfics?)

Green Man/May King or not, it would appear there’s more post-canon wooing for Mr. Pelle to do (though Ari has confirmed more than once that Pelle has an excellent chance with Dani, wink.) The script specifies that Pelle is one of the Hårgans that bears Dani’s throne to scoop her up after she stumbles in her May Queen raiment before the film’s final shot, but like so much Dani/Pelle content in the script, that doesn’t actually end up on film. The last we see of Pelle, he’s on his knees scream/crying as the Fire Temple burns, and the last we see of Dani...well, the last we see of Dani is the final, iconic shot of the film. Insane? Eh, maybe. She’s synced up with her new family and having her unholy affekts burned away. Probably should check back later for that one. Happy? Definitely. Ever after? Sure looks like. And why not? Girl got her wish.

Oh, but there’s one more topic we have not quite explored. The writing on the wall. And the ceilings and the tapestries and the clothes and the footwear and the decorative flourishes and the furniture and the tables and plinths and the...

Ohai there <3 Just letting you know that I read The Chains That Bind Us and I am all sparkly eyed at the absolute banquet of terribly heart breaking scenarios that could possibly await this tragic Feysand. All bitter, not enough sweet. It'd be almost too sad to read/write!

Hello new friend!! I followed because I saw you were a Feysand writer and I put your new fic on my "to read list", I'm drowning in uni work rn but I'm so excited for the fluffy smut when I get a chance (probably this weekend) :)

Thank you for letting me know love, I'm so gald you liked it! The Chains That Bind Us was SO hard for me to write because I am a soft hearted lady and I NEED happy endings, especially for Feysand. I completely agree with you because this would be my biggest reservation for turning it into a multichapter fic. I just don't know if I have the stomach for that much heartbreak!

Komi 336: Giant Jump Rope

Final thoughts:

Fun chapter. Not much to talk about though.

Yamai is down bad for Komi, as usual. Wants to see her panties, as usual. She fails, as usual.

It was such a subtle thing, but I loved Tadano’s little fist clench in reaction to Yamai’s antics. Great stuff.

I like that Ohai Shuki was recruited for this scheme. It shows that Yamai makes an effort to befriend some of Komi’s other friends instead of staying in her own little bubble.

Najimi had to get in the way towards the end there, as usual... [Grumble grumble...]

I’m mainly disappointed Nakanaka wasn’t around at all for this chapter. Even for the judgmental staring she would have blessed us with... But what can you do, right?

At least we got to see Hiki, Susumi and Aoi again, if just for a panel.

Next chapter is another fun chapter where they go to a new ramen place or something... It’s very... ‘spicy’, you could say...

hihi im back with another ask i send a lot of these now huh. anyway!! what would they all dress up as for halloween/how do they celebrate halloween when vee and ro are little compared to when they are big? do nana janus and chaotic cousin remus also join in? im super excited 'cause its halloween now and also i remembered my second ask from last night so m gonna send that now! 🐝

bee anon i know its been literal weeks since you sent this but i have been thinking about it loads and rlly hope that its worth the wait!!

i think this might be my longest headcanon post yet!

Halloween headcanon for the family

the timeline of labd took place in summer of this year so this halloween is their first one as a little family! patton was eager to suggest to the others that they make it a family halloween party where both boys are little and they can have some more childish fun!

virgil is nervous about it, he really loves halloween but he is easily frightened by horror and jumpscares and its a lot worse when hes regressed. and even though he trusts his family a ton hes worried they'll accidentally put on a scary movie or have spooky decorations that will scare baby him, so he's worried he will ruin the party by being a crybaby

however patton and roman are both so so so excited about having a child friendly halloween party and logan has been researching family halloween activities that are toddler friendly and vee is also a bit excited despite his anxiety so they all agree to it !!

costumes:

originally they all wanted to have a family group costume theme!! but roman and vee's interests are so different when they're little

whatever roman suggested was either too scary or it was from a show that was too old for baby vee

and any of pattons suggestions that baby vee liked roman complained of them being too babyish or simple

so instead they decide each little will go as a matching costume with one of the CGs! so everyone gets to match with someone and the littles arent upset

Logan and Vee go as rilakkuma (big brown bear) and korilakkuma (littol white bear) respectively

their costumes are basically just onesies they got from online, just standard onesie but with bear tail and bear ears on the hood and the tummy patch!

As a surprise though roman sews vee a pair of matching mittens for his costume! theyre fluffy on the inside and theyre white and have pink toe beans sewed on!! so they're like paws! and roman made them detachable so vee can have them attached to the onesie but can also wear the mittens without it

SIDE NOTE: this concept post is about how vee loves the mittens so much he starts wearing them a lot of the time when he's lil!

Roman and Patton go as Kuzco and Pacha

roman makes both of their costumes from scratch!! even fake jewellery for kuzco!! he's REALLY proud of himself and so is everyone else!!

During the set-up:

during the day patton and roman bake sugar cookies! and roman does a great job decorating them like pumpkins and black cats! theyre really cute baby friendly designs

meanwhile logan and baby vee decorate the house! logan sticks up paper pumpkin faces and bats while vee sits on the floor in a little play area rattling his giraffe rattle and logan is like talking to him "where should i put this pumpkin sweetheart?" and vee just babbles cluelessly and sucks the ear of the giraffe and logan is like "what a marvellous idea" and hangs the pumpkin exactly where he planned

also they make tissue ghosts!

basically vee's job is to scrunch up a tissue into a ball! so logan gives him a tissue and shows him how to scrunch it and vee does a littol scrunch and giggles and logan takes it (scrunches it a bit more into a ball) and covers it in another tissue and rubber band! then he asks the baby if this ghost should be happy or sad (vee ALWAYS says happy) and logan draws happy little face on it!

when they have enough logan hangs them from the ceiling fan!! and he turns the fan on slow and the ghosts float around slowly and he goes 'vee look at that!'

and baby vee on the carpet is staring at them and then he whines and holds his arms up to mama - he wants to be picked up

lo was concerned that baby found the ghosts scary but!! vee giggles and reaches up to the ghosts and he bats them! like a little kitten! he loves it because its like a baby mobile!!

During the actual party:

lots of fun! logan cut out pumpkin shapes out of orange craft paper earlier and the boys get to draw faces on them!! and then they get blu tacked up on the walls!

and they nibble their cookies of course! very nummy well done roman and patton

but while ro is busy drawing and while vee is busy suckling his cookie and cuddling papa lo sneaks off to set up the main event...

trick or treat scavenger hunt:

there are bags of candy and little party favours (like little badges and bubbles and stuff) hidden around the house!

patton suddenly pulls out a piece of paper from his pocket and gasps! then he announces that the boys got an invitation to go trick or treating around the house by some special guests! at this vee gets a bit nervous and buries his face in papa's shoulder but patton rocks him and roman is really excited!!

so patton hands the invitation to roman and its a riddle! roman has to figure out which room the riddle wants them to go to! roman is a very clever little boy, just ask his mom and dad, so he figures it out and leads them to the dining room! roman runs ahead and paatton carries baby vee on his hip

and in the dining room is logan - but he's not really supposed to be logan - he is still wearing his bear onesie but also now is wearing a big black blanket around his shoulders (its meant to be a cape) and has those really cheap uncomfortable plastic vampire fangs

'welcah to i cashel' he lisps

roman giggles because its very silly and he LOVES silly, especially mom being silly

but baby vee grips his papa tighter. he doesnt know why mama is talking weird or why his mouth looks different and pointy but it scares him and he starts whimpering

papa bounces him a little and whispers that its just mama being silly

logan hates to see ve scared of him so he tries to rectify it 'ish ohay bee ish okay wook ish mama!'

vee looks over because papa and his brother are giggling so it cant be that scary right?

but as logan tries to talk again the teeth fall straight out his mouth with a trail of drool and roman bursts out laughing and so does patton and so baby starts giggling too!! because its just mama!

anyway the game is to convince the vampire to let you have his candy. the vampire says he will only give them the treats if they can name all of the characters in peppa pig

and they do it!! vee immediately bounces and squeaks 'pepepepepa!' and then roman names mummy pig and daddy pig and george and then they get treats AND another riddle!

logan sprints out of the room to shove the next costume on and get to the next room

then roman takes them to the laundry room where the wolf man (logan with dog ears made of socks) will only give them bubbles and the next riddle if they both pet his head VERY softly!

and then they find a mummy in the kitchen and have to unwrap him! roman tears off the toilet paper from logans body and hands it to vee and vee scrunches it up like he did earlier and holds a little bit to his chest and decides its his now - the mummy gives them more candy and another riddle!

the hunt goes on until they find mama in the living room lying on the couch - and he's asleep! (he's not really)

theres a note on his chest that says that mama is under a spell!! and he can only be waken up by a kisses from all his family!! roman giggles and goes first and kisses logans cheek really loudly and sloppy and logan winces in his "sleep" at the wetnes on his cheek and roman thinks its funny

vee is really nervous that mama is under a spell :( so papa says he will show vee how to wake mama up. and patton leans down to kiss logan - logan's eyes open when he's just above him and leans up to meet him in a quick soft kiss on the lips

then its baby vee's turn and he wriggles in papa's arms so patton puts him down onto logan's lap on the couch and vee does his signature baby kiss - he leans forward, gently presses his forehead against his mamas and whispers 'mwah' behind his paci!

and then logan wakes up and says 'oh you saved me!!' and wraps a smiley baby vee in a very tight cuddle!

and when logan gets up he says he is SO grateful to his boys for saving him that he's gonna give them presents!!

For being so creative and clever by solving all the riddles and finding ways to trick the monsters into giving them treats, roman gets a rainbow etch a sketch!

and for being such a brave baby and for being so gentle with the monsters and with mama, little vee gets a squishmallow bat who will always protect him and give him cuddles!

the rest of the night is pretty much jsut roman being really excited and proud of how well he did in leadinf his family to victory and he draws all of the events that happened on his new etch a sketch!

and baby vee is just so relieved that mama is back that he doesnt leave mama's lap and snuggles with his new squishy friend al evening! he falls aslee pretty quickly because it was a busy day for just a little baby!!

OHAI! I'm Ruthie B. Ginspurr! Just like my namesake, I'm tough! And I'm smart! And I will get done what needs to be done!

I came to St. Francis Rescue in Tampa, Florida, from the county shelter where I had been turned in with a nasty injury to my left rear leg. I also had - what's it called - a hernia. So I was a mess. My nice helpers at the kitty doctor decided my leg wasn't healing right so they had to take it off.

I know that sounds sad, but I was so little I don't even remember. And ask my foster mom: I came home from surgery and haven't slowed down since! I got stuff to do!

I like to beat up my foster brother Stubs, and some of the big kitties too. I will need a home with a very active kitty friend for me. I am shy at first with new people, but with quiet and patience and lots of kisses, I settle in.

I thank you for your patience, because with the event and the laziness that characterizes me well, it took me quiete long to finish it, as I said, it’s been years since I didn’t do a match-up, so I hope I understood you well and that you’ll like it !

You two probably met before the Mukuro event and you couldn’t help but be attracted by him, he’s mature, charismatic, has a contagious smile and a big heart too. It was like a magnet-thingy between the two of you and each time one of you entered a room, the other one had to exchange some words.

The first thing that took his attention, apart from those smooth perfect hair and the playful look behind those glasses? The sarcastic comments coming from your mouth when you talked to one of his family member as he happened to be there. He heard the joke that followed, for many, an innapropriate one, but he couldn’t help but let out a snort, appreciating the cleverness and lucidity of it, he knew from that exact moment that he wanted to know you better.

It was hard for him at first to get your attention as you seemed to close yourself and out of reach, he was about to give up, until he saw you stand up for your opinion and fought your own fights to be aknowledged and rewarded for who you truely are in your own capacities, this thing that animated you convinced him to find a solution to have a chance to really exchange with you.

He felt so enrage, so overwhelmed with incomprehension each time you retired from a conversation because the person in front of you didn’t listen to your arguments or exposed theirs too vehemently. Why don’t you talk back, why have you this reaction when what you said was so convincing, if you can’t see it yourself, then he has to let you know. He’ll help you to develop your ideas in a way other can understand you and it’ll make your life easier.

He’s, above all, a lot empathetic and so, he can listen and read people easily, which makes a common point with you, and he has to admit he was a bit annoyed at first to be an open book to you, even if he was trying to hide all of his negative feelings for everyone's sake. In the end, with your patience and perseverance, he came to realize that it’s quiete relieving to be able to let things go sometimes and share doubts and fears with someone he can trust.

The bother of disturbing other with bad vibes, the scare to let the negative thoughts take control and the denial of those feelings until they explode and makes you even more lost than before? He knows the feeling too well, and he’ll do everything he has in his power to help you akowledge that it’s not an healthy solution to stay like this.

He lives your apparition in his life as a real solace, and he’ll do his best to make you relay on him too. He’ll never be pushy but let you know that you can come to him every single time you’re feeling upset with something, that you don’t have to fight alone, hoping you’ll get the fact that his doors are always open for you and he truly means it

Life goes by, things happened and the two of you lost sight of each other, you didn’t know what happened to him and the slaughter he was a victim of, but as soon as he went back to reality, you were the first person he called, and, by the sound of his voice, you knew something was wrong. You listened to him, concerned about everything and you were the one picking him up when he was released by the Vindice.

After the past year, the realtionship between the two of you grew and you soon realized you were way more affected by him than you thought you were, he’s loyal, trustworthy, he understood you like no one, and let's face it, he's pretty charming,

For him, you’re someone he can open so easily to, no unsaids, no lies, no shame, he was terrified by the idea that he let you go, if only you could be returning his feelings.. It’ll be a bit complicated between the two of you because, even if he’s well aware of your mood when you’re not feeling well, he is totally not obvious about your interest in him, and it’s the same for you so, you’ll have to make big lighthouse call to allow him to make the first step.

When you first share with him the trauma you encountered which could be a real challenge into a deeper relationship, it’s already been a long time he got it, by your apprehensions on what a relationship is/can be and your body langage. But he would have respect you and didn’t push you if he feels you uncomfortable about it, and it applies for everything.

Once in relationship, you’ll see a new side of Lancia, he’ll be more at ease and even let a playful side you never caught of him before out. You’ll also be surprised how pumped up and involved he’ll be to keep the both of you in a beneficient relationship.

- You can have deep conversations with Fran and Chikusa, they both recognize your intellectual vigor and share the same pride to not be an ordinary person.

- Ken would call you «four eyes», and if he wasn’t so loud, it could have been funny.

- Haru’s freakin’ jealous of you because you can eat whatever you want and she gains some weight only by watching a piece of cake.

- Lancia is a very intelligent and cultivated man, he has seen a lot of thing, read a lot of book and always has interesting stories to tell, which could easily appease, if not quench your thirst of curiosity.

Ohai

Life update beneath the cut!

Work

Uhhh soooo I got promoted! Woooo! My job is the same, but I do get a fancy new title, a higher annual bonus percentage, and more money. Yaaaay!

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it, but my boss retired. Before she left, she made sure I was promoted. That was so kind of her, because your supervisor is the one who will make a case for your promotion, and the new supervisor they will hire for me has no way of knowing what my performance was beforehand.

So! That’s my work life news. I lost my boss, which is sad, because our relationship strengthened shortly after I started therapy. But I did get promoted, which is awesome. (Also, my Mom gave me flowers and the sweetest card to celebrate, which was so nice).

Life

As for my life, I’ve been trying to work on a few things. I’ve mentioned before that therapy feels like a series of epiphanies, and here are the ones I’m dealing with now:

1.) I need to work on asking for things

I struggle to ask for help, for favors, and even for things I need at my job. For example, recently I needed another group to finish their work ASAP so they could hand it off to me for my experiment. This wasn’t a favor to me. The company needs my work done to meet our shared goals. But I still felt so much anxiety about asking them to help me meet the deadline by finishing their part on time. I feel even worse when asking for something that I need or want for myself.

I have a few theories as to why I struggle to ask for help:

According to my therapist, I have a caretaker personality. I feel like it’s my job to help others, not the other way around. I experience internal tension when I go against what I perceive as my role.

According to my own longstanding assumptions, I just don’t want to bother people. No one likes being bothered. It’s sad that I think I’m always bothering people when I approach them, though...

According to a friend, I learned from the people who should have been most happy to help me that reasonable requests will be met with an unreasonably negative response. Now I assume that people who aren’t as naturally inclined to help me as family would theoretically be (coworkers, strangers, even friends) will react even worse than the norm I was taught as a child.

Whatever the reasons, I want to overcome the anxiety I feel when asking for help. Independence has always been crucial to me. It’s hard to explain, but... I knew from early on, when most kids aren’t thinking about money and the future, that I had to get out ASAP and be able to support myself. I’ve been planning and working towards the future and keeping my own council for a long, long time.

But I’ve been independent and safe for about eight years, now. This behavior isn’t serving me anymore.

My therapist taught me a list of questions to ask myself when making a request. It seems the only cure is to go down the list of questions for reassurance, and then practice by making requests with as much confidence as I can muster.

2.) I want to figure out how to interact with my family

Actually... I don’t want to get into this, it would take forever. But I’m in this weird place where my family is a mess, but I still want relationships with most of them (I am no contact with my father, for my safety), but it’s really hard because most of my family is very conservative, plus there’s all this... “well, if SHE will be there, WE won’t” going on, and AHHH!

But I know that most of my family members genuinely love me and like me. Like... as a person, not just as a family member. They’ve done a lot for me.

I’m not sure how to navigate conversations that always shift to politics somehow and the anxiety I sometimes feel around my family. I’m not sure what’s healthy and what’s not. I really, really miss my grandmother, and my granddad, too.

Right now, short, occasional phone calls (like rotating one person per month) seems like a good start.

Writing

I haven’t been writing much, but I have been planning. I got really excited about this AU collection I’ve been dreaming up. Honestly, I think I really need a break from longfics. Episodic writing sounds massively attractive to me right now. Come with me, oneshots. Let us away.

C’mon, brain. At least finish After August first. YOU ARE SO CLOSE.

An introduction

My name is Carolyn. I am 36 years old. And I can’t remember the last time I actually liked myself.

In my late twenties, maybe? My early thirties? It’s difficult to say exactly when the quiet slide into self-loathing began. When you spend all of your life hating how you look, besieged by your anxiety-riddled brain, and mired in frequent but unpredictable bouts of depression, the tipping point at which “oof gotta lot of issues but I’m ultimately an okay person” becomes “I honestly don’t know why anyone cares about me” isn’t so easy to define.

But...I know that I didn’t always feel like this. I didn’t used to question, constantly, why anyone bothers to put up with me. My husband. My friends. I used to think I was worthy of love and friendship and hell sometimes even admiration even though there has always been lots I wished were different about me. Despite the litany of things I didn’t like about myself, ultimately I never really didn’t like myself.

And now I wake up every day unhappy about the life I’ve made and the person I’ve become. I think I’m lazy, stupid, ugly, uninteresting, and selfish. And I hate how bone-crushingly cliché all of it is. “Wow, late-30s white woman who hasn’t experienced trauma and has a whole heap of privilege has spent too much time navel-gazing and has a sad, news at eleven.”

Sometimes I wonder if I was destined to wind up like this, due to my disposition, my genetics, my professional choices (ohai graduate school). But I’m also really fucking tired of subscribing to such fatalistic thinking. I am downright fucking exhausted by succumbing to the supposed inevitability of a lifetime of self-loathing.

And if only it were so easy as declaring, “Yep, dunzo with that whole ‘I suck an entire ass’ thing. Thank u, next.” But there’s a really big missing piece in this whole puzzle, which is: um, how do you start liking yourself again? How do I get back to the old me? Or, better yet, if I’m going to strike out on this whole ~*~self-improvement~*~ endeavor, why not go one better, and try to find some spirit, some fire, some spark? Why not try to convince myself that I’m capable, that I’m worthy, that I’m a badass, that I’m fucking incredible?

I obviously don’t know the answers to these questions. I can tell you for damn sure that fake it ‘til you make it positive affirmations are, uh, not helpful for me. And I can also tell you that I’m going back into therapy again, this time for the primary purpose of dealing with my underlying self-esteem issues, and not just its manifested symptoms.

And in the meantime, I’m going to use this space to try and help myself figure it out. To give voice to the darkest parts of myself, in hopes that I can expose them to some light again. Because despite feeling like I’m not worth much, I know I don’t want to keep on like this.

Also, pace Judy Blume diehards. I borrowed my blog name from her simply because her titular emphasis on the protagonist’s feelings of nothingness of resonates in my bones. The similarities end there; there will be no tales of annoying younger siblings or turtle-eating here.
