“Okay okay, thank you so much, Hajime!”, laughing as you ended the phone call with Iwaizumi on the line before grabbing your luggage, making way for the exit.
You’re finally here.
Oh my gosh how is Tooru going to react to this?, you internally laugh to yourself as the morning sunlight of Buenos Aires shines on you while you make your way out of the airport; thankfully, you were wearing appropriately for the weather, as Argentina in February proved to be sweltering hot. As you wore your sunglasses, you went into a nearby taxi.
Arriving at your boyfriend’s doorsteps, you fish the keys out from your pocket, unlocking your fiance's apartment door, and the scent of clean linen hits you right in the nose as you enter his living space. You immediately settle your baggage in the living room as you throw yourself on Tooru’s soft bed covers. You rest for a couple of minutes before grasping your phone out of your pocket, immediately texting your boyfriend something out of context, all according to your devious valentines plan.
Tumblr media
The need to sleep washes over you, as you drown yourself in the plush covers of Tooru’s bed, inhaling its fresh laundry scent, but much to your dismay, you compelled to pull yourself out of bed as you grab that one baggage full of your plans for your fiance as you slowly unzipped it, smirking as you pull out other items to prepare a grand surprise for him.
Tooru won’t know what he’s gonna get., you laugh out in your thoughts.
Tumblr media
Morning practice has ended as usual. Right after a series of cool-down exercises, Oikawa went for his water bottle, drinking a huge amount as he hydrated himself after a tiring practice. He reaches for his phone, hearing the familiar vibration of his phone as he opens it to his joy a message from you. He immediately checks your chat, only to see a photo of what looks like a doll of him, to which he raises an eyebrow in confusion.
Tumblr media
He replies back, scoffing at the picture you sent him as he immediately closes his phone and returns it in his bag.
Knowing that woman… She’s probably onto something… but what could it be? He thought, recalling the picture as he grabbed a fresh shirt from his bag. “She’s just probably lonely without me, and bought a doll that captures my features. My poor sweet fiance~”, he laughs off as he goes for the restroom with his clothes. He washes his face quickly before removing his sweaty training clothes, and changes with a fresh white shirt and olive green cargo shorts. He packs his things before waving goodbye to his teammates with a casual “Adios!”
As he walks on his way home, he rechecks his phone again at the odd photo that you sent him. Yes, it’s a doll version of him, but he couldn’t help but feel creeped out by it. To his surprise, you sent him another picture of it, only a close-up, but this time, he felt his hair on his arms raise.
Tumblr media
“Y/N-chan mi amor is probably just teasing me again.”, he huffs in mind as he hums, skipping on his way home.
As he reached the front door of his apartment, he felt his spine shiver and the growing unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach wasn’t helping. His apartment door was slightly opened.
Someone could be in his house.
He felt the need to call the police, but instead worked up the courage as he slowly opened the door. But before Tooru could enter, something hit him in the face.
“Wh-what the hell?!” Tooru swatted the object in front of him, only to reveal the familiar doll you sent to him earlier tied to the ceiling, connected to the knob. He grabbed the doll in anger as a torn paper suddenly fell from the plush.
‘mIss Me?’
He felt a wave of shiver in his spine as he clutched onto the doll, looking at it sinisterly. He tiptoed inside, not making a sound as he grabbed a nearby umbrella from a stand. His apartment was exactly as it was when he left. He looked around, seeing everything was in place. He creeped to the cupboards and closet in the living area to check for any signs of intruder. His anxiety grew as he inspected around, clutching onto the doll and the weapon. A wave of relief washed over him as he sighed when nothing was suspicious as of note. He wearily placed his sports bag on the sofa, crashing on his sofa. He inspected the doll, and upon closer look, the doll was wearing his old Aoba Johsai jersey.
The same doll you sent him a picture of earlier.
A sudden slow squeak was heard.
The door of his bedroom squeaked as it painfully opened ajar. Tooru’s petrified eyes turned towards the source that revealed another doll, standing as it looked at him. His instincts made him grab the umbrella as he made way to his bedroom. He picked up the plush, wearing a different uniform, his Kitagawa Daiichi uniform this time.
His eyes turned to his bed, six more dolls of him wearing different uniforms were scattered around on his bed. His grip on the umbrella loosened, letting it fall to the floor as he noticed how each doll wore different uniforms from his past. He noticed a large paper in the midst of the dolls, ‘Happy Valentines Day’ that was written in red ink that had Tooru back away from the bed to his closet.
Wait, Happy Valentines’ Day, mi amor?
Out of the blue, a hand suddenly clutched onto his shoulders, quickly wrapping around him as he screamed, pulling away from the arms. He ran for the door, but ultimately fell in the process. His attention immediately turned to the arms from his closet.
He immediately prayed at the closet as he pleaded and cried, “Please don’t kill me! I’m too beautiful to die! I have a fiance waiting for me on the other side of the world! At least let me marry her before you kill me! PLEASE!”
His train of thought got distracted as a laugh which was way too familiar for him entered his ears as you emerged from his closet, your phone peeking through the cracks of his drawer recording everything that happened.
“Long time no see, Tooru!”, you winked at his petrified state while laughing.
“Y-Y/N-chan? You-”, he cried out, pissed and shocked as you embraced him. “There, there, it’s all over now! See?” You reassuringly said as you patted his back.
Letting go after a full minute of hugging. “Why would you do that?! You almost gave me a heart attack!” He cried. You laugh out with tears on your eyes, “You should have seen your face!” You hugged your stomach, not being able to bear the events that transpired. Tooru could only pout at your initial betrayal.
“So mean of you, Y/N-chan!” He watches you grab your phone from his drawer, laughing as he looks at you rewatching the entire scenario on your camera, replaying on specific parts that were deemed too unforgettable as your boyfriend could only stare at you in part amusement and betrayal.
“You’re enjoying this too much, mi cielo!”, he complains further, folding his arms.
“Of course I am! I mean, what’s a better way to surprise my dear fiance?”, you say as you hit send to the Seijoh group chat before Tooru snatches your phone away.
He scrolled through the group chat as he looked at you again, pouting. “You, Iwa-chan and the others conspired?!”, you snickered as you scratched the back of your head.
“Oh Tooru my baby, I’m so sorry. I hope my presence here in Argentina makes up for it, though.”, you say, about to give him a hug once more, but he immediately pulled you to him, kissing you on the lips as he snapped a photo. He then sends the picture before looking at your flustered state with a smirk.
“Y/N-chan, from this day on, I forbid you from spending too much time with Iwa-chan and the others! Look what they influenced you with!”, he angrily said, before looking at you with his famous serious eyes, sending chills to your spine. “You’re mine, got it?”
You raised your hands in defeat, “Alright, alright, I got it, babe.” You grabbed his hand, leading him to the kitchen. “Now come on, I’ll cook something for us to make up for the emotional damage I’ve caused you.”
He snickers as he continued, “While I do appreciate you cherishing my beautiful existence like this, where did you even get those dolls?”, emphasizing on the dolls with spite.
You show off a smirk as you tease him, “Oh you know, Iwa-chan was very willing to help me out, and the others too. Looks like seeking their help was worth it!”.
Ah, of course, Iwa-chan has something to do with this., he thought.
He pouts as he looks at you. “I sometimes wonder, why did I even fall for a weirdo like you?”.
You laughed at him, “Well, the thing is, Tooru, I’ll be your weirdo forever!”, as you flash him the diamond engagement ring that he proposed to you after his team won the Olympics a few months ago. Oh what a blissful moment.
Argentina wins the final game as a final spike seals the deal, with strings of sky blue, white and yellow confetti flying around the stadium. The Argentine Volleyball Team runs to each other, hugging and crying in victory as they pat each other in the back. The roaring cheers of the Argentine audience further overwhelms the team in celebration as the rest of the team finally knocks on their setter Oikawa, reminding him of something.
“It’s finally time, Tooru.”, one of his teammates tells him as he looks at your direction, who’s currently looking at the entire team in sheer joy from the stands. Oikawa immediately feels the anxiety, with a lump forming in his throat as he carefully grabs the box from the bench to make sure you don’t see it. To his surprise, you were gone from where you were standing earlier and now he sees you running straight to his direction.
“Congrats, my baby!”, you scream as you hug him tightly albeit his sweaty figure.
He hugs you back, “Thank you, mi cielo!”.
As the team looks at you guys from afar, they quickly disperse back to the bench to give their beloved setter a spotlight. One of them gives him a microphone, much to your curiosity.
“Y/N-chan! I’m so thankful for your love and support for the past years that were together. And now that I’m getting a gold medal, I was also wondering if you’re willing to accept my last name as a gold medal.”, he says on the microphone as he slowly kneels in front of you, prompting you to cover your mouth in shock.
Tooru then opens the red velvet box for you to see a diamond engagement ring sparkling beyond your wildest dreams, “W-Will you marry this idiot, Y/N mi amor?”.
Cheers went louder as tears began welling up in your eyes, processing what is just happening in front of you. The Argentine setter looks at you anxiously before you finally nod in tears, “Yes Tooru my idiot, I will marry you!”.
“Well I suppose, we can be weirdos together forever, right mi cielo?”, he replies, kissing your ring as the memory makes him smile. You proceed to give him a kiss on the cheeks, smiling in return.

Tumblr media
- pairing. kageyama x female reader
- warnings. slight angst, slow burn, swearing
- genre. best friends to lovers
- a/n. not a fan of this fic, but i also wrote this while my writers block was in full swing </3
- word count. 7.7k+
- key. y/c = your country
your first day at kitagawa daiichi junior high was already a disaster. after being late for your first class by ten minutes, to trying to find your club room in the maze of hallways. you clutched the schedule given to you by your homeroom teacher, frantically looking at each sign above the classroom doors. you cursed under your breath, deciding that maybe it would be alright if you missed your club. after all, you weren’t really interested in joining a club. the only reason you believed that you should was to meet people so that you weren’t totally alone.
but the truth was, you were alone. you had just moved from y/c, and you weren’t even completely fluent in japanese yet. you cursed yourself for not listening to your tutor better, and not being able to find your damn club. you eventually gave up on searching and walked to the front of the school to switch your shoes. you exited the building, only to find yourself come face to face with a boy with jet black hair. he clutched a volleyball in his hands, and he was wearing a jersey. neither of you spoke first, resulting in an extremely awkward first encounter.
“do you need help finding your club?” he questioned, stepping closer to you. “o-oh, yes! wait, actually, no. i’m not joining a club. i was only going to in order to meet people, but i would much rather go home.” he nodded along in understanding. “are you new here?” in response to his question, you bowed quickly to him while introducing yourself, “yes, i’m an exchange student, l/n f/n. this was my first day of school in japan.” he paused for a second, before looking your figure up and down. you felt your face heat up under his intense but interested gaze. “what country are you from?” he asked, tilting his head to the side. you couldn’t help but feel a smile grow on your face at how this boy resembled a puppy. “y/c. i moved here for family reasons, and i’ll be going to high school here too.” he smiled, “that’s cool! uh...i have to go to volleyball practice now, i’ll see you, l/n!” he began to jog away. you waved and watched him, until he stopped and turned around. “by the way, my name is tobio kageyama! it was very nice to meet you!” your heart swelled.  you smiled as you began to skip happily in the direction of your home. did you just make your first friend?
Tumblr media
weeks passed, and you and kageyama have only gotten closer. it turns out he was in your class, and he sat in the back row. occasionally, during lectures, you would turn around to see kageyama with his deep blue eyes already on you. this routine would continue, with you turning around and waving to kageyama everyday. each time, he would smile and wave back.
during lunch breaks, the two of you stayed in your own seats, too nervous to approach the other. one day, a small group of girls approached your desk and asked if you wanted to eat lunch with them, to which you agreed. you were finally forming a solid friend group, and you couldn’t be happier.
you kept this routine of waving to kageyama during class and eating lunch with your friends, until one day kageyama approached your desk instead. “c-can we eat lunch together?” he asked as he stared at his shoes. you instantly picked up on the nervous tone in his voice, and giggled to yourself as you watched kageyama furrow his eyebrows in concern. “o-only if you want to. i know you usually eat with your friends but i was just wondering i-if we were friends? you always wave to me in class.” he mumbled.
“do you want to be friends with me?” his head shot up to look you in the eyes at your question. “yes!” he responded with a little more enthusiasm than he hoped to. you laughed as you told him to pull up a chair. luckily, your friends saw exactly what was happening, so they decided not to interrupt.
Tumblr media
some time passed, and you and kageyama continued eating lunch together. sometimes you two ate alone, and sometimes your other friends joined, asking kageyama about his upcoming practice match. he explained excitedly that he was learning how to serve from his senior and captain, oikawa. none of you knew exactly what he meant, but you congratulated him nonetheless. upon leaving school to go home, you and kageyama parted ways, with him leaving to go to his match. you apologized for not being able to watch, as your family wanted you home in time for dinner. he explained that it was perfectly fine, and that there were many more opportunities to see him in action. you two smiled at each other before parting ways, both of your faces growing red in colour.
this routine carried on for months, and you were completely satisfied with it. you were finally able to convince your parents to let you stay and watch kageyama’s match against shiratorizawa junior high. as soon as school ended, you told the ravenette you would be there right as it started before sprinting in the direction of your home.
you stared at your reflection in the mirror, satisfied with what you had changed into. you were now wearing what you deemed as your cutest outfit. you believed this to be a big deal - going to your first volleyball game. okay, maybe going to watch a couple of guys struggle to keep a ball from hitting the ground wasn’t what you were anxious for. it was the fact that you desperately wanted to impress your best friend of almost a year. you wanted kageyama to see you that way too, and you couldn’t help but want to speed up that process. you waved to your parents as you bolted out the door, making your way to the gymnasium of kitagawa daiichi.
upon arrival, kageyama’s eyes instantly found your figure. you were standing shyly at the doorway, not wanting to enter yet. he couldn’t stop the goofy smile that began making its way onto his face as your eyes found his. you two smiled at each other for what seemed like hours, the other not wanting to move. you felt yourself drowning in his eyes, but you never wanted to get out. you concluded that this was far different than any crush you’ve had in the past. you yearned to be around kageyama, even if you felt suffocated by his presence. you constantly tried to elicit any sort of validation from him, even if it was something as small as understanding a math equation. tonight, you were hoping for a compliment, even something as small as ‘you look nice.’
you watched the game take its course, or more specifically, you watched kageyama’s every move. you were amazed at how easily he passed the ball to his teammates. whenever kitagawa scored, he turned to where you were sitting and pumped his fist, with you pumping yours in response.
the game carried on for what you believed to be hours. each time the gap in scores increased, you found yourself sweating profusely, and you could tell kageyama was growing nervous with each second.
you stood up to clap along with the others sitting in the audience as the members of the kitagawa daiichi volleyball team bowed in front of the bleachers. it was an unfortunate turn of events, with shiratorizawa junior high taking the win. you stayed standing while all of the other audience members filed out of the gymnasium doors, waiting for your chance to run up to your friend. you listened to the announcements and watched as someone, who you believed to be the captain of the team, received an award for the best setter. you quickly became confused as that same captain continued turning around to yell at kageyama. what was he doing? you stood in disbelief as the chocolate-haired male pointed at kageyama accusingly. even if he was sobbing, you could still very clearly hear the words he said to him. “and tobio-chan! i don’t know where you’ll be headed after this, but i’m gonna crush you. so you better be prepared.”
you didn’t even realize that your mouth was hanging open with your jaw practically on the floor until kageyama turned to look into the stands. instead of looking dejected from his senior’s nasty comment, he looked as if he was determined. you knew that spark in his eyes - you recognized it from when you went to watch him practice one day.
he stood at one end of the gym, with a volleyball balanced on the palm of his hand. his eyelids closed slowly as he breathed in through his nose. he exhaled the air through his mouth, opening his eyes to stare directly at the ball. while swinging his arm behind him, he simultaneously tossed the ball in the air in front of him. you watched in awe as he ran forward, arms swinging behind him to propel himself upwards into the air. the palm of his hand made contact with the ball, sending it hurtling forwards. both of you watched as it hit directly into the net.
he sighed in defeat, using the collar of his jersey to wipe the sweat that had accumulated on his forehead. you jogged to pick up the ball, handing it back to him. “you’ll get it this next time, kageyama.” he nodded as his eyes filled with determination as if he were hitting the ball the first time again.
the walk home to your house was silent with kageyama deep in thought next to you. “i’ll win next year. and when we’re third years. i’ll win for you, l/n.” you snapped your head to look at him, your gaze meeting his soft expression. “i know you will, kageyama.”
Tumblr media
throughout your second year of middle school, kageyama seemed to be acting distant. not only this, but you couldn’t help but notice how he wasn’t around you as often. kageyama was no longer eating lunch inside now, instead he made a routine of heading outside to practice setting his volleyball he always carried with him. you knew he was only doing it to practice, but you couldn’t help but feel your heart ache.
“kageyama really ditched you again today? are you alright with that, f/n?” one of your friends coming up to your desk with her bento in hand asked. “i guess. i mean, he’s only practicing for volleyball, it’s not like we never talk anymore.” you shrugged it off. “if you’re sure, i guess it’s alright then. i mean to me it just feels like volleyball is the only thing he’s ever thinking about. it’s like he doesn’t care about his friends. not that i’m saying he doesn’t care about you! i’m sure he does! it’s just,” she carefully calculated the words she wanted to say next, “are you sure you want to like him when he’s only thinking about volleyball?”
you knew she was only looking out for you. you two had only known each other for a little over a year, but you already put all of your trust into her. one particular sleepover with a group of girls left you wanting desperately to confess to kageyama already. the three girls inquired about your crush, not expecting it to be the ‘volleyball idiot’ as they labeled him. they weren’t trying to get you to stop liking him, but the complete opposite. they dropped hints everyday that you had a crush to see if he would respond. instead of seeming interested or jealous, he simply turned to you and wished you good luck.
“i like him, sure. but i’m not going to act on it anytime soon. it’s just a small crush.” she shrugged in response, not wanting to push any further. “do you know where you’ll be going to high school?” your friend questioned, taking a bite of her food. “i have no idea. i have a few options, but i’ve heard some of the entrance exams are crazy hard. i have no idea what i want to be when i get out of high school, so i might as well go somewhere with decent academics.” she nodded along. “well, we’ve got one more year to go! maybe next year you’ll tell kageyama that you’re in love with him!” she began making kissy faces while clasping her hands together. you laughed at her as she continued to act out a silly confession scene. as the bell rang, you watched kageyama enter the classroom again, volleyball tucked under his right arm. you sighed as you wondered if this next year was your last year being able to see kageyama.
Tumblr media
soon enough, it was your last year at kitagawa daiichi. your friend group had added a few new members, making your previously smaller group of four a group of six girls. what you weren’t expecting, however, was for one of your best friends to begin acting cold towards you. kageyama’s whole demeanor began to change drastically upon entering your third year at kitagawa daiichi.
no longer was he the kind, easily-impressed boy you met for the first time two years prior. now, he was described as a ‘tyrannical king.’ the first time you heard this was as you were walking down the hallway. you passed a boy with spiky hair that seemed to stand straight up on its own. alongside him was a boy with flat hair, which was parted down the middle, framing his face.
“he’s going insane. i don’t think i can be on a team with him much longer. i just want this year to be over so i don’t have to see that tyrant kageyama anymore.” upon hearing his, you stopped in your tracks. kageyama? a tyrant? that wasn’t right. kageyama was sweet and gentle, not cruel. you desperately wanted to get to the bottom of this, so you could prove those boys wrong and defend kageyama’s name. approaching your friend, you asked if she wanted to go watch the volleyball club’s game. she hesitated before nodding, not wanting to be the one to tell you the true nature of kageyama’s behavior.
Tumblr media
your jaw was on the floor - and it wasn’t a positive type of shock. your friend covered her mouth and rubbed circles into your back with her palm as you watched kageyama yell at another one of his teammates for the umpteenth time that day.
“move faster! jump higher! match my tosses if you want to win!”
you jumped as his voice suddenly boomed throughout the gym. your friend gasped in surprise and quickly went back to rubbing circles into your upper back. “should we just leave? that was the fifth time you’ve jumped today, f/n.” you were quick to shake your head, “i want to see if they win. i know kageyama can do it.” you had hoped maybe it was his nerves getting under his skin, or maybe the fact that he simply had a bad day.
watching the rest of that game could easily make its way onto your list of worst things you have ever had to go through. kageyama never stopped yelling at his teammates, resulting in his coach pulling him out of the game at one point. nearing the last few points of the game, you watched intensely as kageyama went to set the ball, only to connect it to no one. no one wanted to receive his set. you watched with bated breath as the ball seemed to fall to the floor in slow motion. you glanced at the rest of the players who seemed to just stand there, unmoving.
however, the sting in your heart wasn’t caused by either of those things. the fact that not even once kageyama glanced up into the bleachers to lock eyes with yours caused you to rethink your support. what were you doing? were you really supporting someone who just didn’t want it?
you waved your arms to get kageyama’s attention, only to watch as he sneered at you. you felt your throat tighten, and tears threatened to fall from your eyes as your best friend of three years, not to mention your crush, simply didn’t acknowledge your presence.
the truth was right in front of your face - tobio kageyama didn’t need your support anymore. he was flying solo - a king who didn’t need a queen.
Tumblr media
you dressed yourself in karasuno’s uniform, while mentally preparing yourself for what was about to come. both you and your best friend from middle school were attending karasuno high school, while the other friends in your group dispersed to go to different schools. not only were you nervous going into your first year of high school, but you were also nervous to see a few familiar faces. one of which was your very own friend - or rather, ex-friend - tobio kageyama. the same boy whom you met on your first day of school in this country. the boy whom you developed a massive crush on throughout your months of hanging out almost everyday. the boy who seemingly dropped you to pick up the title of ‘king of the court.’
to this day, you hated that nickname. you still carried a sliver of hope that kageyama had changed, that he realized his mistakes and worked to better himself. you knew kageyama would join the volleyball club, so you made sure to stay far away from the gymnasium.
of course, not everything works according to pre-made plans. walking into your classroom, all you wanted to do was turn on your heel, head straight for the office, and ask if you could switch classes. sitting at a desk in the middle of the room was none other than the tobio kageyama, ex-friend, ex-crush, and newly proclaimed tyrant of volleyball.
the bell rang while you were glued to your spot. the teacher attempted to slip in behind you, announcing to the class to find their assigned seats. luckily for you, your seat happened to be in the last row. all you had to do before lunch was sprint to your friends’ classroom and not be seen by kageyama.
you were distracted the whole lecture, not listening to a word the teacher uttered. all you could manage to focus on was the back of a certain ravenette’s head. had he grown taller? before you could spiral into a slew of unanswered questions, the bell signaled the end of english, meaning it was now lunch break. you slid out from under your desk and unzipped your bag to grab your bento as quickly as possible, hoping to not be seen by kageyama.
“l/n?” before you could take a step out of the door, a deep but familiar voice pulled you back into the classroom. turning around slowly, you were met with kageyama’s piercing blue eyes. holy shit he did get taller.
standing face to face with him, you remembered just how intimidating kageyama was. except this time, he looked even more so. “h-hey, kageyama.” you internally smacked your head for stuttering.
“uhm,” he furrowed his eyebrows, an action that made him look as if he were angry about something, “h-how are you doing? i haven’t seen you since last year,” he mumbled. you took a breath in as you gathered the courage to have a conversation with your old friend, “i’m doing well, how about you? are you still playing volleyball?” you cursed yourself as you let slip the exact thing you didn’t want to talk to him about. what if he hates you for asking him a sensitive question like that?
“oh. yeah i’m still playing. i was actually going to turn in my form to join the club after school. d-do you want to catch up?”
you cursed yourself once more as you felt your heart rate pickup at his offer. you hated this. you hated that you still liked your friend who changed with the flip of a switch.
“y-yeah, i’d like that.”
most importantly, you hated that you could never say no to tobio kageyama.
Tumblr media
“-and then hinata actually hit it with his eyes closed. isn’t that dumb? hinata is such a dumbass.” you chuckled as kageyama went back to angrily sipping his milk carton. it’s been exactly one month since the first day of high school, and you and kageyama have worked hard to rekindle your broken friendship. he expressed his sorrow for throwing away such an amazing and supportive friend such as yourself, and tried his best to make it up to you. you two ate lunch everyday, with your friend occasionally joining you two. in the middle of eating, kageyama would always ask if you could toss the ball to him. of course you agreed, wanting nothing more than to see your crush smile while doing the thing he loved most.
“we have a practice match against aoba johsai coming up. wanna come?” you stopped tossing the ball to yourself, processing his question. “do you want me to come?” you asked quietly. he looked up to the sky, as if he were deep in thought. “i do.” you smiled brightly - honest to God it was one of the most genuine smiles you’ve given someone in a long time.
“i’ll be there!” he nodded. you didn’t miss the way his eyes lit up with a familiar hint of determination, something you haven’t seen in a long while. you felt your heart rate pick up as kageyama approached you. it wasn’t until he was standing directly in front of you when you released a breath you didn’t realize you were holding in. he stared down at you, the faintest hint of a smile growing on his face. “i’m happy you’re here at karasuno with me, l/n.” your face exploded in a multitude of colors, resulting in you becoming a stuttering disarray of words. “y-yeah,” you stared at your shoes while raising your fist to lightly punch his stomach. he chuckled as you flattened your palm against his abdomen. holy shit, he’s rock solid! you didn’t dare look up at his face as you quickly pulled your hand away, apologizing for the inappropriate contact. he laughed as he assured you that he didn’t mind, his face turning a bright pink.
these next three years were going to be extremely difficult if you didn’t get a hold on your feelings now.
Tumblr media
the air in the gym was extremely thick. you watched as a certain chocolate-haired male walked into the gymnasium with his team following right behind him. you noticed as the boy, oikawa, - your senpai from kitagawa - was seemingly taunting kageyama from the opposite side of the court.
throughout the match, kageyama never once yelled at any of his teammates, however, a certain redhead was the only exception. the whole gym went quiet after said redhead served the ball straight into the back of kageyama’s head. both you and your friend sat in the bleachers with -your hands over your mouths, waiting for kageyama to begin yelling. two other boys on the team began laughing, with one of them cupping his hands around his mouth yelling, “nice headshot, man!” kageyama turned around slowly and began making his way towards the smaller boy, who was now shaking. you were surprised he hasn’t pissed himself yet, you know for sure you would have. with the way kageyama was approaching him, you figured he would be done for. the boy began shaking his arms around, yelling for kageyama to hear him out.
“just wondering...” kageyama began calmly. the redhead nodded quickly, “yes?” “why are you so intimidated? why are you so nervous? is it because the opponents are tall? is it because this is your first practice match?” you waited with bated breath as kageyama began lifting his arm behind his head. “there’s nothing scarier than hitting a serve into the back of my head. is there?” the two of you gasped as he smacked the back of his head. “then get back to normal, jackass!” he yelled. your friend turned to you with a face of confusion and worry as you began laughing. “h-how is that funny? he just yelled at his teammate!” you took a deep breath, contemplating your next words. “kageyama’s talked to me about him before. i’m pretty sure they’re friends.” your friend nodded.
“i think he’s changed.” you turned to study your friends face, and you noticed how her expression was one of surprise. “i just want you to be careful. i don’t want to see the two of you drift apart again,” she sighed, scratching her cheek. “i promise we’ll be okay.” she nodded at your assurance.
kageyama glanced up into bleachers, watching as you smiled with your friend. he got back into position, still staring at you. “hey king, stop drooling over her. she’s gonna get freaked out,” tsukishima teased him. “i-i’m not drooling! and stop calling me that!” kageyama exclaimed, his ears turning red. “whatever you say, king. it’s creepy though, both of you keep staring at each other but you’re so oblivious. she clearly likes you.” kageyama froze in his spot as he glared at tsukishima. “she doesn’t,” kageyama muttered, his face only growing redder. tsukishima simply rolled his eyes at his teammate’s oblivious nature.
Tumblr media
the game came to a close, with you and your friend jumping up and down congratulating karasuno on their win. kageyama watched you, his stomach doing somersaults. his heart was full of pride and excitement as he watched you shake your friend’s arm, waving to kageyama. he pumped his fist out towards you as you reciprocated the action.
you and your friend ran outside to grab your bikes as you waited for the team to file out of the gymnasium. as soon as you spotted kageyama, you dropped your bike and ran to him and gave him a hug. “congrats, kageyama!” he nearly dropped his bag as you threw yourself on him. he wrapped his arms around your waist and buried his face into your hair. you felt your cheeks warm up as you finally let go of kageyama. “sorry, i was just happy that you won.”
“you can hug me anytime, l/n.” kageyama looked down at you smiling. neither of you cared about the fact that there were a few eyes on you, and neither of you succeeded at calming your racing hearts.
Tumblr media
for the next two months, you continued going to kageyama’s volleyball matches. the ones you couldn’t attend, you texted kageyama good luck and apologized for not being able to make it. over the course of those two months, kageyama’s anger seemed to dissipate completely. he no longer yelled at his teammates like he did during your third year at kitagawa. instead, his teamwork and his trust have been restored almost to its full potential.
on the day karasuno lost to aobajohsai, kageyama was feeling especially down. you invited him over to watch a movie to take his mind off the loss when it turned into something completely different. you two sat in the main room of your home, talking over the television. his body language screamed that he was uncomfortable talking about this topic, but he explained everything anyway, saying that it was time he finally explained himself. the question that sparked this serious conversation was simple; why did he become so angry and distant during your third year?
“do you remember oikawa? our senpai from kitagawa?” you nodded your head, allowing him to continue. “i looked up to him. he was an inspiration to me, and i always wanted to do everything he did. he…he didn’t like me. in fact, one time i asked him to teach me how to serve and he almost hit me. that was, until iwaizumi-senpai stopped him.”
“he was really that jealous?” you asked out loud, mainly to yourself. “jealous? i-i don’t think he was jealous. i think i was just annoying.” you turned to face him, “you’re not annoying, kageyama. you only wanted to learn how to serve and he should’ve taught you, being your captain and all. it seems to me that he had an inferiority complex.” there was a beat drop before you turned back to look at kageyama. the face he had was one of pure confusion. “inferiority complex?” you talked with your hands as you explained, “it means he felt like he was useless compared to you. he felt he had to be show-offish in order to appear dominant over his kohai.” he nodded his head, and placed his pointer finger under his chin. “he felt useless? but he’s amazing. sure, he’s a major jackass now, but he was my main source of inspiration back then. i wanted to be just like him.”
“i understand that. but you know what i think?” he turned towards you, tilting his head to the side. “i think you’re amazing now, whether he helped you back then or not. you’ve changed so much, kageyama. honestly, i never would have expected to become such good friends with you again.” there was a moment of silence shared between the two of you as he processed your words. “you think i’m amazing?” he questioned under his breath. you nodded slowly, allowing him to let your words sink in. “i’m sorry i pushed you away, l/n. i hated how i acted back then. i hated that people called me the king. it’s almost as if i was living a completely different life during that time. but now, i’m really glad you wanted to be friends with me again.” you gave him a small smile and you raised your hand to chop his head. he winced and rubbed his head as you laughed, “of course i wanted to be friends with you again, dumbass. after all i...” you trailed off. did you want to say it now?
“l/n?” kageyama raised his eyebrows in concern. you didn’t even realize that a few minutes have passed. “what?” you waved it off with your hand when he asked what you meant, ignoring the heat growing on your cheeks. the movie ended, leaving you two in another few minutes of uncomfortable silence. “d-don’t you need to be home? it’s already…” you trailed off as you searched for your phone, “eleven.” kageyama thought for a moment before standing up and stretching. you didn’t mean to, but you’re glad you looked when you did. as kageyama stretched, you saw the tiniest bit of his toned stomach. does he have a six-pack? you ignored the heat on your face and began to stand up, leading kageyama to the door.
“hey, l/n?” you looked up from your feet to look at kageyama, who was about to slide the door open. “yeah?” you watched him shuffle around, raising your suspicion. “i have a training camp in tokyo in a few weeks, so i’m not going to be able to hang out then. sorry.” you couldn’t help but drop your shoulders, which kageyama picked up on. “b-but i’ll be training for the interhigh nationals! s-so you can come watch me there...if you want to.” you chuckled, putting your feelings behind you so you could reassure your friend that you’ll be there. he nodded and pumped his fist. “i’ll train extra hard for you, l/n.”
Tumblr media
soon enough, the tokyo training camp came to a close, and you anticipated kageyama’s return.
you were just eating breakfast when kageyama texted you saying he was back in miyagi, and you called him. “hey kageyama! how was the training camp?” his groggy voice came through from the other side, as well as hinata’s excited voice, “i’m exhausted. we had a barbecue before coming back, so that was nice.” you hummed in response.
“so what’s next?” you questioned while taking a bite of your food. “next month we’re going to the interhigh national tournament. you’ll be there, right?” you stopped chewing, “kageyama, you know that’s in tokyo, right? how am i supposed to get there? d-don’t get me wrong! i want to cheer you on, it’s just-” you were cut off by a grunt and some yelling coming from the other line.
“l/n? it’s hinata! join the team as a manager! you’re friends with yachi, right?” this was true, you and yachi became friends a little while after karasuno lost to aobajohsai. even yachi asked if you wanted to apply to become a manager after seeing how often you hung around kageyama.
“i-i could apply, but do you guys really need a third manager?” there was some arguing on kageyama’s side, but hinata managed to answer you, “i’ll ask coach! hey coach!” he yelled. you winced when hinata began screaming.
“s-sorry about that, l/n.” you laughed as you picked up on the annoyance in kageyama’s voice. “l/n? do you actually want to become a manager? that would be nice, then you could come with me to tokyo.” you couldn’t help the way your heart began skipping beats at the thought of being able to travel with kageyama to cheer him on. “only if you want me to, kageyama.” kageyama didn’t hesitate to answer, “i want you to.”
Tumblr media
the day before the karasuno volleyball team left for tokyo to compete in the spring interhigh nationals was the day you were officially welcomed on the team as a manager. all of the boys were welcoming, yet you found yourself cowering away from two boys in particular. one of which was even shorter than hinata, and the other looked like a delinquent. you quickly grew accustomed to these boys when they promised you they would protect you from any unwelcoming eyes. yachi had asked if you wanted to sit together on the bus there, much to kageyama’s dismay.
hinata noticed kageyama’s change in demeanor, and was quick to question the latter. “kageyama, are you disappointed that l/n isn’t sitting next to you?” kageyama snapped his head to stare down at hinata, “w-what the hell are you talking about, idiot! i’m not disappointed!” kageyama reached down to grab onto hinata’s head, but he dodged. “aww, kageyama’s jealous!” hinata danced around and mocked him in a singsong voice, and kageyama’s anger boiled over. “i’m not jealous!” he yelled, causing the gym to go silent. both you and kageyama made eye contact with each other before he stormed out of the gym.
you stayed glued to your spot, before yachi tapped you on the shoulder. “do you want to go after him?” she questioned. you nodded before handing the water bottles in your hands over to your blonde friend before jogging after kageyama.
you found him sitting on the steps leading up to the club rooms, with his head resting on the palms of his hands. “hey, grumps.” kageyama’s head shot up causing his eyes to meet yours. you squatted in front of him, causing a red tint to make its way onto his cheekbones.
he always knew he liked you, but he had absolutely no idea how to handle those feelings. he’s had plenty of crushes on girls before, but none of which were as amazing and intriguing as you. he would even go as far as admitting that he was in love with you.
“what do you want?” those words came out of his mouth far more aggressive than he was hoping, and he winced as he watched your expression change. “i-i was just wondering if you were alright,” you sighed, standing up. “if you don’t need anything, i’m gonna go back. the team is waiting to start practice.”
he stood up quickly, “w-wait!” you turned around, tilting your head, “h-how do you tell a girl you like her?” you turned fully around, failing to hide the disappointment in your tone, “you just say ‘i like you.’ it’s easy, you simpleton.” he argued, “but it’s not! i-it’s so hard. it’s so hard to see someone you like everyday and not be able to tell them. i think she’s so gorgeous and funny - she’s the girl of my dreams. a-and i’m such an idiot for not being able to be around her without wanting to hide!”
at this point, there were tears threatening to fall from your eyes. what kageyama was saying, basically, was that his crush wasn’t you. because in order for him to see you that way, he would be too shy to be around you, which was the complete opposite of what was happening at this moment.
“look, kageyama, i don’t know what to tell you. i’m dealing with my own crush right now.” the words that came out of your mouth made kageyama feel a pang in his chest, one that he could only assume was jealousy. “hinata was right, i am jealous.” after saying that, he walked past you, leaving you to wonder what the hell just happened.
Tumblr media
the bus ride to tokyo was an utter disaster; with you sitting next to yachi as kageyama sat next to hinata. both yachi and hinata noticed the awkward tension in the air, and fought to make it dissipate. “how about a game! we could play cards!” hinata offered. “dumbass. do you even have cards?” kageyama rolled his eyes. “i don’t,” hinata sighed. hinata continued offering things to do, and each time either kageyama or tsukishima shut him down. during the trip, you couldn’t stop yourself from glancing at kageyama, who wasn’t even giving you the time of day. what did you do to make him so angry? eventually, five hours passed, and the karasuno volleyball team made their way into the tokyo metropolitan gymnasium.
Tumblr media
both matches concluded, with karasuno winning against both ohgiminami high and kakugawa high, the team climbed back onto the bus. as soon as everyone settled into their seats, the air was instantly thick again. hinata had rescued kiyoko from an encounter with the captain of johzenji’s volleyball team, who told hinata he was excited to play against karasuno in the upcoming spring tournament. other than that mishap, neither you nor kageyama have made a point to talk to each other. you cheered him on from inside your head, hoping whatever kageyama was ignoring you for would dissipate soon.
you helped kiyoko and yachi with things that you clearly weren’t even interested in doing. what was the point of joining the team as a manager if the one person you joined for was ignoring you? you sighed louder than you meant to, gaining the attention of your friends. “l/n, i’m sure kageyama will come around sometime,” kiyoko broke the silence as yachi nodded along. “i just don’t understand what i did. kageyama told me he liked someone and that he couldn’t even stay in the same room as them without wanting to hide. i guess i shouldn’t have given myself false hope. it’s clear he doesn’t like me.” yachi and kiyoko exchanged knowing glances. the situation was clear as day to both of them; kageyama was trying to put his feelings for you aside. your two friends didn’t feel the need to meddle, and they told you they figured it would be solved in a few days.
Tumblr media
“yachi, you and kiyoko were so wrong,” you whined, leaning your head on your blonde friend’s shoulder. “i know, l/n, i’m sorry! we honestly didn’t expect him to keep pushing you away.” you looked up to study her face, only to be met with a frown. “it’s okay,” you sat up, stretching your arms over your head. “at least this is the last game for the qualifier.” she nodded along as kiyoko came to sit next to you. “hey, l/n. how are you feeling?” she handed you a water bottle, “i’m fine, i guess. i’m not as devastated as when it first began, but it still hurts a little.” she hummed in agreeance.
the game carried on, and you found yourself unable to peel your eyes away from kageyama. by the time it was the fifth match, you were practically biting your nails off from anxiety. karasuno was able to surpass johzenshi, wakutani, and seijoh, but this was a completely different story. the tension was practically suffocating.
on the other side, kageyama was at his wit’s end. he dug himself a hole, and he was desperately trying to climb out. he started this problem with you, his first real crush, and he had no idea how to cut it off. he so badly wanted to run over to you and tackle you into a hug, but in order to do that, he needed to apologize. this game was especially taxing on him, as his main goal was to make it to nationals. the first step in his plan to apologize to you was to make it through this game and win for you.
the score was close, with both teams having won two sets. Either team could win the last set and walk away winners or losers. during a time out, kageyama walked straight towards you, allowing himself to say at least a few words to you. “hey,” he began. he watched as you jumped at the sound of his voice and turned around slowly. “h-hey.” there was a moment of silence before you reached down and grabbed a water bottle, handing it to him. “you’re doing great out there.” he nodded while bringing the bottle to his lips, keeping eye contact with you. you shifted uncomfortably, feeling stupid for thinking he was actually going to talk to you. kageyama placed the water bottle back in the holder, and leaned down to talk directly into your ear. “can we talk when we get back to miyagi?” your eyes widened at his sudden confidence, “y-yeah,” you nodded. “do you w-want to come over?” he pulled back to look at you, nodding his head. “okay,” you whispered. the sound of a whistle broke both of you out of your staring contest, and before you could say anything else, kageyama was already jogging back onto the court.
you couldn’t stop the tears that flowed from your eyes as you watched both teams line up at opposite ends of the court, bowing to each other. medals were being passed out, and you watched as kageyama bent down to let the woman slip it around his neck. determination filled his face as he held the medal in his palm, and he whipped his head around to look at you. wiping tears from your face, which you were sure looked quite awful, you smiled and slowly pumped your fist, with him pumping his in return.
anxiety began gnawing at your stomach the closer the bus transporting the karasuno volleyball team got to miyagi. you glanced over at kageyama, who was already fast asleep. you chuckled as you noticed just how angry he looked as he slept.
there was a comfortable silence as the two of you walked through the suburbs of miyagi. kageyama yawned for the umpteenth time since getting off the bus and you couldn’t help but chuckle, “tired?” he hummed in response, not saying anything.
as soon as you slid open your front door and began slipping your shoes off, your stomach fluttered with anticipation. you motioned for him to go ahead into your room as you slipped into the bathroom, checking your reflection. as you walked into your room, you smiled to yourself as you noticed kageyama sitting in his signature spot.
each time he came over to your house, he always chose to sit far away from your bed. from the first time he came over during your first year at kitagawa daiichi to now. he sat in his spot, twiddling his thumbs. “no need to be nervous, kageyama. this isn’t the first time you’ve been over here,” you teased.
when you didn’t hear a response, you turned around only to come face to face with kageyama. he stood in front of you, worry etched onto his perfect face. he slid his hand down your arm down to grab your hand, “l/n, i really need to tell you something.” you felt your heart flutter, and your mouth opened, but no words came out. you nodded your head, allowing him to continue.
he grabbed your other hand, “i feel...awful. i ignored you for no reason for two whole months because...well because…i was nervous.” he continued, “i shouldn’t have lashed out at you then...i guess i’m still the same stupid king i was in middle school.” you quickly shook your head, squeezing his hands. “kageyama, you might not know how to express your feelings, but that doesn’t make you a king. that makes you human.” you looked down at your hands and brushed your thumbs over his knuckles.
“i-if i’m a king, then...i want you to be my queen.” you shot your head up to watch his face grow red in color. there was a minute or two of silence before you whispered, “what?” he grumbled, shifting his weight from one foot to another.
“w-what i’m saying is...f/n l/n, i really really like you.” his eyebrows furrowed together as you began to laugh from shock. “oh my god, kageyama,” you snickered, causing him to attempt to pull his hands out of your grasp. you pulled his arms around your waist and wrapped yours around his neck. “when did you become so romantic?” you questioned, your eyes shifting between his eyes and his lips. “i had to look up how to confess online since you failed to help me,” he grumbled. you let out a loud laugh at his statement.
the two of you watched each other for a few minutes, both of you too cautious to try anything. like how the moon affects the tide, kageyama began pulling you in, allowing the two of you to brush lips. he closed the rest of the gap, smashing his lips against yours. you felt kageyama shake against you, and he accidentally hit his teeth against yours, causing you to groan. he pulled back, with an apologetic look on his face.
“looks like the king should look up how to kiss too,” you teased. he grumbled while rolling his eyes, “hush up and let me try again. i’ll show you exactly how a queen should be kissed.”

daICHI HAS A KISS THE COOK APRON
Daichi secretly can make some kick ass steak and is amazing at grilling sorry
Okay but real talk, Kenma and Yaku swear like sailors and it scares everyone because they always whisper the most foul, insulting things under their breath. Hearing it is like seeing a cryptid
Speaking of cryptids, Fukunaga and Shibayama are THE most true crime, mythology, and mystery obsessed fanatics on the team and often fanboy about it together
Fukunaga’s obsession with moth man has gotten to an unhealthy stage
Kenma absolutely had a vampire phase and has read twilight. Only Kuroo knows and has sworn to secrecy via blood pact
Kuroo’s a musical nerd. Knows all of the lyrics to Hamilton, BMC, DEH, Heathers, Rent, Beetlejuice, Etc. Kenma considered dropping him because of it
Iwaizumi tells the worst dad jokes and Kyotani, wanting to beat him, started doing it too and it drives everyone insane
Yahaba and Matsukawa get along surprisingly well. Both are true crime freaks and bond over their forensic files obsessions
Matsukawa didn’t really like his thick eyebrows so he got one of his female friends to pluck it for him, but almost cried and gave up after the first hair. Oikawa called him a pussy for the next year
Hanamaki jokingly flirts with everyone on the team so most of them just got used to it, but it still confuses Kindaichi to the point of mental breakdown
Makki called Kyotani ‘puppy’ as a joke once and now mad dog is truly terrified of him
Kyotani’s dog absolutely ADORES Oikawa and it’s the funniest shit to the rest of the team
Mattsun and Makki play DnD and once convinced Yahaba and Kyotani to join. Kyotani kept rolling to fight everyone and Yahaba was a bard that kept rolling to seduce everyone. They kept yelling across the board so they had to kick them out
Outside of his school uniform, Goshiki specifically wears only plaid
Tendou makes little chocolates for the whole team every once in a while so they don’t think he’s scary
Semi and Shirabu once had a fistfight in an abandoned McDonald’s parking lot while Tendou filmed and Goshiki cheered them on
Everybody makes fun of Shirabu’s haircut but nobody dares to say it to his face. its gotten to the point where they say he got it done by a blind old lady
There’s a running joke about Shirabu also getting his haircut from prison but Goshiki is starting to suspect that it may not be a joke
Yamagata and Tendou are good friends with the mutual goal of collecting as much blackmail on their team as possible
Tendou loves animals generally considered to be ‘ugly’ like rats, crows, reptiles, etc.
80% of Goshiki’s playlist is shit overplayed on the radio. Him, Shirabu, Tendou, Kawanishi and Ushijima have a permanent ban from the aux cord
Nobody watches YouTube with Ushijima because he never skips the damn ads (other than tendou)
Suna once said y’all’dn’t’ve unironically and made a first year cry
Akagi once said UwU unironically and had an identity crisis.
Osamu has one of those rainbow gaming keyboards and is constantly on a discord call. Atsumu always yells weird shit in the background to embarrass him and once pretended to be him
During Seijoh group chat arguments. Hanamaki and Mattsukawa like to drop facebook minion memes in just to piss everyone off even more
mattsun and maki both have separate photo albums in their phones labelled ‘minion memes to piss everyone off’
Hinata carries a pocket knife and no one has no fucking idea why
mattsun and maki both have matching rat fursuits that look like they actually where in a sewer- they chased oikawa around
For all his talk of plant analogies and metaphors, Ushijima cant grow shit
Goshiki’s Bangs are the way they are because his favorite character was Rock Lee from Naruto
Oikawa has watched Ouran High School Host Club front to back so many times and he can quote all of Tamaki’s lines by heart -He keeps bothering Iwaizumi to “be his Haruhi, since you’re shorter than me”
Koganegawa has definitely gone as an Angry Bird for Halloween
Fukunaga has those reflective cat eyes, and he has terrified Yamamoto on several occasion
Hanamaki and Matsukawa have a teddy bear that they pretend is their child and they share custody
Suga always sprays whipped cream straight into his mouth whenever he sees a can
Nishinoya definitely bit people as a kid
Nishinoya would be the guy to wear shorts all year round and even if it's snowing, he'll insist he's not cold
Tendou is still stuck in his emo phase and would fangirl over Creepypasta with me and I appreciate that (me too buddy, me fuckin too)
Kyoutani LOOKS like he’d listen to viking death metal, but in reality he listens to Mother Mother and knows all the words to Ghosting
Sugawara would definitely encourage me to dumb shit and not stop me, and you’re all dumb for thinking he wouldn’t
KENMA IS NOT ‘uwu owo’ SHY, HE IS ‘your fucking gross’ SHY SO LITERALLY STFU
Bokuto listens to Nicki Manaj. And knows all the words. To every. Single. Song.
Ushijima for some reason knows an odd amount of 90′s-2000′s R&B and he will hum along to the songs if they come on the radio (he also loves Dolly Parton) ((he says he relates to her music))
Bokuto once ate instant ramen for an entire month
TERUSHIMA DID TRY TO FUCK A PLANT WHILE SHITFACED AND GOD I STAND BY WHAT I SAID
atsumu let’s you put makeup on him and pretends to eat the brushes (do yk what im talking about- like n o m)
tendou ran for school president as a joke but actually won
i 100% believe that all of karasuno’s third years apologize when they bump into inanimate objects, but when suga is really tired or stressed out, he’ll yell at them instead.
Tanaka, Nishinoya, and Taketora have a group chat called "Bros who want sum hoes" and they send each other hypebeast memes and shit
Sugawara knows how to do a bunch of flexible shit because he sometimes goes to yoga with daichi and asahi's moms, its fucking hilarious
tanaka and noya both breakdance- they work as a team and sometimes go to tokyo for underground competitions- saeko drives them
Daichi knows a little ballet- nobody other than Kiyoko knows because they saw each other at the ballet class and had to work together- dont tell tanaka and noya that he lifted her though
Osamu once put glitter on Atsumu's pillow- he still finds hot pink glitter on shit
kita knits and crochets with his grandma
Kita's grandma knows everyone's names because kita talks shit bout them, her favorite is Aran
Kuroo has burnt his eyebrows off doing an experiment. His goggles didn't cover all his brows,,, so he just showed up to practice like that. No eyebrows and a chemical burn
kenma has played all kinds of games, but he was dared to play corpse party by kuroo. He wasn't scared because of the gore, he was thinking about the trauma the characters went through. Punched kuroo the next day because that game was fucked up
Lev isn't a strong swimmer, so he often grabs people by the head to keep himself up. happened with kenma and lev couldn't walk due to the force of kenmas suprised water kicks
akaashi has those fancy pens that you have to dip in ink and they're so nice
Bokuto has and will eat pencil erasers again
Daichi once almost lost his shit at his team but instead he lost his shit at the door that decided to stub his toe on the way out of the gym. not the best thing to be found yelling to.
Yamaguchi for sure has been dragged to one of terushimas parties because he didnt wanna say no. oh and terushima has like frat boy level parties too. Yams has for sure had some wild nights and doubts anyone other than Tsukishima and the party-goers will ever know
Akaashi can actually flirt very well! He reads romance novels sometimes and has analyzed any and every book in his possession! so he's actually quite charming
Daihsou unironically posted on twitter after mika broke up with him "I still see her shadows in my room"
Mattsun and Maki run a fake oikawa account; its been going ever since twitter even started getting popular and they even started sending messages in spanish. The posts would range from "I love all my fans!" to flirting with them :) Oikawa is pissed cause the account got verified before he did and most of his fans also follow the fake oikawa. Tooru has no idea who runs it JUST IMAGINE OIKAWA JUST LIKE RANTING TO THE SEIJOH 3RD YEAR ALUMNI AND JUST "no Iwa-chan, you dont understand! they run a fake account and pretend to be me!" while makki and mattsun laugh their asses off
Oh, kenma for sure has pretended to be a girl on discord and has gotten someone to buy him stuff. after they do he says in his normal voice "fucking simp" and then hangs up and blocks the other persons discord
Yamamoto, despite his rough appearance, loves kids and has and will be a human jungle gym
suna in middle school had a game with his friends about who could make kids cry the fastest
The twins switched places back in middle school and nobody could tell because of how great they are at acting like eachother
Daichi once arrested coach ukai for public intoxication after a game :|
Daichi has arrested many people from his old volleyball team but the most memorable case was when he arrested tanaka and noya for reckless driving. poor idiots got so scared when they saw their old captains face in their mirror and started to pray
tanaka, while trying to intimidate someone, once said "You dont gotta tell me twice, i may be straight but these hands are bisexual" and he often cringes at night thinking about it
Kageyama, as a comeback to Tsukishima, said "one thing about us royalty is that we love to feast" and he also fuckin hates what he said
the third years made a cult for Kiyoko. they chant every wednesday "i'll do anything for kiyoko, she makes me go loco"
oikawas fangirls are known to be fucking rabid
yAMAMOTO AND KENMA AFTER THEIR FIGHT WERE FORCED BY KUROO TO MAKE IT UP: so they dyed their hair together
Makki and mattsun sang two trucks in front of the entire team. everyone was so confused. Makki: "twO TRUCKS HAVIN SEX!!" Mattsun: "oH yEs!"THEY'D SWITCH OFF AND HAVE LIKE CHOREOGRAPHY TOO LIKE THEY'D DO A TANGO WHILE THE SONG IS LIKE "two beer trucks, making love"
tendou once called Oikawa "mr. no-nationals" and got kicked in the shins before iwaizumi could save him
Tsukishima had a my little pony phase
you work with matsukawa at a morgue and he makes dead people jokes while you fix some dead guys face with wax and makeup he'd be like "so didnt he like,,, stick his head out of the sunroof of a moving fuckin car??" he'd be singing dumb ways to die the entire day
i feel like Kuroo has one crazy accident a year. like it might not be deadly but its fucking crazy like for example: Kuroo for sure has ridden in a shopping cart at past midnight with kenma (who pushed him down a hill) causing Kuroo to get scratched up hella well. he lied and said he spent the night with a girl and kenma fucking hated himself cause he would be the girl if that was true
Mattsun has flirted with the 4th years moms before (AS A JOKE), and because of this: he is known as “fuckin milf hunter” sometimes by the team
Warning, this next headcanon is talking about cannabis, weed, mary jane, the zoink root. so if your uncomfortable, please dont read below :)
dude i wanna get high as SHIT with Asahi
i think Asahi would be one of those mfkers who takes one hit and is gone
ASAHI ACCIDENTALLY GOING TO PRACTICE ZOINKED
IMAGINE HIM SEEING TSUKISHIMA AND JUST "he looks so judgemental,,, im scared"
OR LIKE A MAD DAICHI AND JUST "i'm gonna,,, im gonna go jump out the window now"
Noya and Tanaka would know tho, i feel like they'd have a 6th sense when it comes to weed. they probably get some from Saeko cause she'd rather they do it in the house. they'd smell asahi like fucking dogs and just so,,, big guy had fun without us huh?
DAICHI WOULD KNOW ABOUT ASAHI BEING ZOINKED, SMASH HIS FACE INTO THE WALL, TURN AROUND WITH A RED MARK ON HIS FOREHEAD AND WITH A BEAMING SMILE AND FEUX ENTHUSIASM SAY: "YOSH, LETS WARM UP!"

WEDNESDAY
4:45 PM
“Kindaichi, nice kill!” Iwaizumi’s voice boomed in the midst of the constant squeaking of volleyball shoes against the wooden floor. It was yet another busy afternoon practice session for Seijoh’s boy’s volleyball club for Iwaizumi Hajime. As the vice captain, he has a range of responsibilities to fulfill.
These responsibilities include keeping trouble makers in line.
“Kyotani! You’re late! Start stretching already!” Iwaizumi yelled at the second year student who came almost two hours late. The blonde buzzcut haired boy clicked his tongue at his senior but complied anyway.
Additionally, a vice captain should also help those in need.
“What’s the matter, Yahaba?” Iwaizumi approached his troubled looking junior who was staring at the volleyball in his hands. “Ah, Iwaizumi-san, I can’t seem to set the ball accurately enough in a high toss.” He muttered out of frustration. Iwaizumi being the resident wing spiker swallowed the lump in his throat as he attempted to find advice for the younger setter.
Of course, Yahaba’s worry can be eradicated with a snap of a finger if the club had one of the best all rounder players in the whole prefecture. Iwaizumi’s workload can certainly also be lifted if he had a reliable captain on his side.
If only Seijoh had such a good ace setter as their captain.
In reality, Seijoh did have one. Until that specific player, who happens to be the captain, decided to throw an emo fit suit for a thirteen year old boy going through puberty.
“I’m sorry, I know I should be asking Oikawa-san for advice but he’s just er…” Yahaba quietly said, confused on how to act around Oikawa with his sudden character change. “It’s fine, I’m sorry I can’t really help you with this but I’ll try asking that idiot when I can.” Iwaizumi sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed at himself that he couldn’t help his junior.
As Yahaba shuffled away to practice his tosses, Iwaizumi caught the coach signaling him to come over. “Iwaizumi, are you sure you can’t do anything about him? We have a practice match after this.” Coach Irihata sighed, his eyes signalling to the brunette setter sitting absent minded in the corner of the gym. Iwaizumi closed his eyes and took a deep long breath before answering his head coach, “I’ll get him moving, don’t worry.”
Coach Irihata gave the vice captain a sympathetic smile. It has been two week since Y/N last spoke to Oikawa and his performance as a setter and human being in general has quickly deteriorated. Two to three days into the last two weeks, he was still acting normal though Iwaizumi has caught him spacing out a bit too much than usual but now that the two week mark has passed, Oikawa appeared to be a completely different person.
“Oi, Shittykawa.” The wing spiker huffed, kicking the setter’s foot lightly.
“What.”
“Get up.”
“You’re not my mom, you can’t tell me what to do.”
“I said GET UP” Iwaizumi snapped, kicking Oikawa’s foot harder than before. Oikawa rolled his eyes at his best friend but did as he was told.
Iwaizumi gathered the rest of the team towards Oikawa and him with his broad shoulders wide. “Alright everyone, we have Date Tech coming in a few minutes for a match or two so we better get straight sets okay?” Iwaizumi announced to the rest of the team. “Alright!” the array of high schoolers chanted.
“Whatever.”

4:50 PM
“Oikawa, it’s your turn to serve.” Matsukawa said as he handed the ball to his captain. Oikawa turned to the score board and sighed as it showed the ten point gap between his own team and Date Tech’s.
Oikawa walked over to the end of the court with the ball in his hands, bouncing it up and down before cracking his neck in an attempt to focus though all efforts diminished as high pitched screams filled the room.
“Oikawa senpai! Good luck!” A second year girl who Oikawa doesn’t even recognize screamed from the bleachers. The collection of high pitched squeals filled OIkawa’s ears. Iwaizumi smirked at himself, thinking that his girl-crazed friend would at least improve his mood by a little bit from hearing his female fans’ support but instead widened his eyes as he watched OIkawa click his tongue and gave them a death glare.
The court immediately fell silent from the unexpected gesture of the usually charismatic captain. Hanamaki and Matsukawa’s jaws dropped at the sight of him ignoring his fans he usually fawns over.
Oikawa took several steps back and proceeded to run forwards towards the court, throwing the ball up and slamming his hand hard at the ball.
“Out!” Sakunami, Date Tech’s libero yelled out a second before the ball slammed against the area beneath the white line that marked the court.
“Shit.’ Oikawa swore out loud as the rest of the Seijoh team swallowed the lump in their throats.

6:12 PM
Oikawa walked home under the quickly dimming sky with his hands in his pockets. His heart was far from content especially after losing to his opponent of the day. His phone was still in his right hand. His fingertips still had a sliver of hope for a buzz or two signifying Y/N’s texts.
“Quit following me.”  Oikawa stopped in his tracks to whip his head back towards the ace of the team who was five steps away from him
Iwaizumi walked over to his friend and put his dominant hand on his shoulder before hitting him on the head. “We’ve been going to the same train station for three years now, don’t get ahead of yourself, Shittykawa.” Iwaizumi growled.
Oikawa giggled, contradictory to Iwaizumi’s expectations. “What’s so funny? Have you finally lost your mind?” Iwaizumi raised his eyebrow at the boy.
“Nothing, it’s just that...Thank you, Iwa-chan.” Oikawa sighed softly, a bittersweet smile on his face.
“Ha? Are you thanking me for hitting you? Cause I can do a lot more after your shitty behaviour today.” Scowled Iwaizumi.
“I know I’ve been such a pain in the ass, I mean, more than usual, and surely if I were you I would’ve ditched my ass ages ago.” Oikawa started as Iwaizumi gawked at his unusual self awareness. “I know it sounds silly but hearing you call me that just made me relieved. At least someone in my life doesn’t hate me, y’know.” He continued softly.
“She doesn’t hate you.”
“She does.”
“You’re right.”
“Iwa-chan’s an idiot! You’re supposed to comfort me more. Boo!” Oikawa pouted, throwing a fake tantrum before starting to walk forward again towards the station.
Iwaizumi jogged to catch up with his best friend, whose head was tilted down once again. Though he couldn’t see his face clearly through Oikawa's obnoxiously big hair, he could tell his facial expression went back to the one he has had for over two weeks.
“What would you say to her if you get to talk to her again?” Iwaizumi started the conversation again after walking in silence for a handful of minutes.
Oikawa hesitated, fumbling his walking pattern for a second. “I don’t know. I just want to see her again. Am I bad?” He asked though it sounded more rhetoric to Iwaizumi.
“No.” Iwaizumi put his hand on the lighter haired boy’s hair and ruffled it.
“But you better have something to say.” he said under his breath, quiet enough for Oikawa to not notice at all.

THURSDAY
6:08 PM
“Goodbye everyone!” You exclaimed to the rest of the team before hopping off the steps of the gym. You ran your fingers through your hair as you began to walk towards the school gates. It has been a while since you walked back home yourself. Kageyama had an english test the following day so Daichi made him and Hinata stay back so Tsukishima could tutor them for a while. Though you insisted on helping them, Kageyama affirmed that you should go first before it gets too dark. Though Kageyama was never the talkative type, not hearing a second set of footsteps along with yours made you feel a little bit lonely.
You skipped your way to the gates, feeling oddly happy before your eyes unexpectedly caught sight of a certain school’s white jacket. Your legs stopped moving instinctively. With the turquoise text printed on the back of the jacket, you had no doubt that it was an Aoba Johsai student.
Though upon further inspection, you sighed in relief as you noticed the back of the person’s head was nowhere close to Oikawa’s hair style. There was just simply no way for OIkawa’s curls to stand spiked up like the boy’s hair.
You quietly began to walk again, not giving the student a second thought before he promptly called out your name with his unrecognized raspy voice.
“Y/N?”
“Y-Yes?” You turned your head slowly towards the Seijoh student. You didn’t know how he knew your name or what business he had with you but you already had a bad feeling in your gut about him.
“Ah, Um, please don’t be afraid, I mean I guess I would be if I were in your shoes.” He said as he scratched the back of his neck, lowering his head slightly. “You might’ve heard of me. I’m Iwaizumi Hajime.”
The hairs on the back of your neck stood up immediately. That name didn’t take you long to recognize. With the amount of times Oikawa brought him up in conversations, only an idiot would forget the Iwaizumi Hajime, despite never meeting him.
Though fear, quickly turned to anger. Your head started to heat up as you balled your fists, turning sharply to face Oikawa’s best friend directly.
“Look, if Oikawa-san told you to come here just ge-”
“He didn’t tell me to! I’m not here for him- well, I am...but whatever you have in mind, it’s not it.” Iwaizumi frantically said, his hands waving in front of him though he retracted them quickly, avoiding giving you the wrong idea.
“Please. Just let me explain.” He started to speak again, but this time much softer. You watched as his thick eyebrows drooped as the amount of hope slowly began to slip in between his fingers.
“Make it quick.” You crossed your arms and prayed that none of the Karasuno team would bump into you and Iwaizumi.
“Oikawa...He really does care for you.” Iwaizumi started, biting his tongue right after to avoid the cringe expression he was dying to show after saying the phrase he just said to you. “And I don’t want to overstep anything, well I guess I already am since Oikawa doesn’t know that I’m here, but I’m not lying Y/N. I-It’s amazing how you actually managed to tame that bastard, actually. I’ve never seen him act like this before in the whole twelve years I've known that idiot.” He sighed.
Your eyes widened at the things the stranger you just met have said. Tame? Acting differently? You didn’t know what he was saying and you hate yourself for even having a conversation with Oikawa’s partner in crime but your curiosity got the better of you.
“What do you mean by acting differently?” You tried your best to remain indifferent and unbothered though snippets of your true intention probably have slipped out in between your words.
“Where do I even start! Man, Matsukawa and Hanamaki have been going insane after seeing him like that for too long.” Your ears perked up at the sound of two more familiar names you recognised from Oikawa’s conversations. “Well, for a start, all life and light has been sucked dry from him. He has resorted to one word replies and sighs to everything compared to his usual sickening monologues he drops every now and then. He, the guy who checks the mirror as many times as he blinks, shows up to school without even brushing his hair anymore. He has abandoned his pride and joy, volleyball, completely now, not even being able to serve properly without hitting the net or out of the court.” By the time he had finished saying his last word, Iwaizumi was gasping for air which you admittedly laughed at.
“Trust me, I could go on and on and I’m even sugar coating all this shit I’ve had to go through ‘cause of his dumbass!” He sighed.
“Now, I’m not going to force you to do anything but please, could you hear him out just for a while at least?” He begged, the desperation evident in his eyes. You bit your lip as your gaze traveled from the third year to the ground.
Before you could open your mouth, a sudden ringtone filled the surroundings of the deserted Karasuno school gates. “Ah shit, it’s Oikawa.” He swore as he checked his ringing phone. “I gotta get going, he’s not supposed to know that I’m here. Y/N, I’m sorry if I crossed a line, you don’t have to give me an answer now, just think about it, ‘kay?” He calmly sighed after sliding his still ringing phone back into his pocket. You didn’t know how to respond so all you could do was nod and bid him farewell.
The moment you got home, you threw all your belongings to a corner of your room and jumped into bed face first. It was all too overwhelming. You didn’t know what to do or what to say.
To forgive or to not forgive?
Did you want to see Oikawa again? Of course you did. But could you take the truth he would reveal? You knew deep in your heart ignoring him and leaving him without even hearing an explanation was childish and unfair but you knew you wouldn’t be able to take the truth. It would hurt even more if you heard it from his mouth instead of Hinata’s.
You grabbed your pillow and shoved your face into it harshly, drowning all light and letting yourself seep into the comforting darkness.
“I just want all of this to be over.” You whispered to yourself.

Characters: Yaku Morisuke X GN!Reader
Summary: When forever ceases to be just a word.
Warnings: none
Genre: fluff
Word Count: 1.4k
A/N: this was inspired by @sugaanoya who wrote a love letter for Oikawa’s birthday. I’ve known since then I wanted to do the same thing for Yaku. I just really love him ok, writing his was a birthday present to myself
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My sweet Yaku Morisuke,
Neither of us have ever been experts at placing our feelings into spoken words, always getting lost in a blush and becoming a stuttering mess as we catch the others eye. I guess I find it kind of endearing that even after all of these years together that our feelings are strong enough to make our heart skip a beat, butterflies in our stomach ever prevalent to the point of inhibiting our speech. I expected us to grow out of it, but the rush of excitement through my body, every inch of my skin burning under your loving gaze has been a consistent companion. Wildfire love becoming an almost tangible third figure in our relationship.
I guess that’s why I’m sitting at our kitchen table surrounded by balled up pieces of paper around me instead of cooking dinner. Writing out how I feel isn’t much easier but for a different reason. I’ve grown accustomed to the tinge of warmth on my face when attempting to declare my love. Without you here, without it here, something feels like it’s missing.
I put on that playlist you made for our one month anniversary, trying to fill the empty space surrounding me with the thrum of your favorite songs. Your love confessed in every beat, every rest, the swell and crescendo of the music becomes almost tangible. I don’t know if I ever told you, but this playlist never fails to put a smile on my face, even on my worst days, days you have away games and long practices.
Enough about me, I’m here to tell you how I feel about you. I’m sure you know from our lingering touches goodbye, the warm smiles being the first thing we see in the morning and last as we sleep. But, I wanted to tell you at least once, even if it's written out, how much I truly adore you.
It’s crazy to think that when I was younger I didn’t really believe in soulmates or place a lot of value in love, rather focusing on school and fostering deep friendships. People talking about “the one” sounded delusional, stealing a hallowed literary trope and trying to apply it to our degenerate mortal lives. Then, you caught my eye and when you mirrored my body language, looking just as nervous as I felt, everything changed, the cynic has become the converted, the skeptic, an ardent zealot.
The whole world vanished when you walked towards me the first time. No sounds were able to permeate the moment, the rhythmic thud of your steps and our breathing, no, our heartbeats being the soundtrack to the beginning of our life. I don’t know if I fell in love with you then or if it was the second or third time I saw you, but I did know in that moment that you were important to my story and I needed to do anything to keep you in my life. By my side waiting for the instant that your role would be unveiled, manifested into some action or lesson.
I spent every moment I could with you, tutoring you for exams, walking to school, watching your practices. We became intimately acquainted with nothing more than the passage of time and a few “accidental” brushes against each other's hands. Neither of us had the courage or ability to quantify what we wanted into words.
How could I explain the joy I felt after reading the accomplishment in your chestnut eyes when you completed a difficult receive? The tensed shoulder muscles, veins popping down your arms trying to quell feelings of helplessness when you lose a set. How do I assure you that the weight of each point doesn’t weigh solely on your shoulders?  I had no right to want to rush up there, wiping tears of inferiority away from your cheeks, whispering words of praise into your neck, but I did. It took every muscle in my body to stop myself.
When you found me in the stands, your number painted on my cheek, your sobs came out harder, followed by you mouthing to meet you outside the gym. I still don’t think I’ve ever run as fast as I did at that moment. It's a miracle I didn’t trip over anyone on the way there. Seeing you stopped me dead in my tracks. Even now I wonder what was going through your mind at that moment. I didn’t know how you were feeling but I did know that I wanted to help. Every fiber of my being wanted to comfort you, to stop the tears flowing down your cheeks, to quiet the choked sobs coming out of your chest.
I thought about us getting together a lot before that moment and I don’t think a single one of my dream scenarios involved you crying into my shoulder, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. That moment set the basis of true and honest love for this relationship we have now. It wasn’t saccharine words or material objects winning us over, it was the primal drive to protect and be protected by each other.
It was in that gym hallway holding you covered in both sweat and tears that I knew why you were in my life. You were teaching me what forever meant. It’s not a measure of time, no. It’s a place, its a person. It’s a safe haven from the surrounding world. It’s a place we can steal away to whenever we want, as long as we have each other, it’ll feel like we have forever.
I never doubted your love for me, you showed it in every way you knew how. Small thoughtful gifts when you return from trips, always either my favorite scents or color knowing that I favored those specific ones despite me never mentioning it. You must have picked up my preferences over the years spent together. That in itself was another act of love, paying close enough to me to figure out all my little tendencies.
Placing sweet kisses on my temples when I have a migraine after bringing me medicine and an ice pack. You know that the knowledge of you being with me is reassuring but I can’t handle your smoldering body heat during a spell, you settle for having a hand placed on my shoulder or your leg touching mine. I don’t think that I’ve ever thanked you for how considerate you are in those vulnerable moments. I guess I never knew how to find the words, not wanting to admit how weak I was and not make you nervous about doing it in the future.
I cherish every single interaction we have. Even the fights, when our loving flame explodes into a wildfire. Yeah, we’ve both said things that we regret, deep digs intentionally trying to rile the other up but we never went to bed without some sort of apology or starting to talk things out. We always slept in the same room, routine not singed by the arguments, knowing that we might be upset right now but that isn’t going to trump all the time we’ve spent together. Even when you’re away, you always facetime me before I go to bed if I’m angry, knowing that it's the best you can do to keep normalcy alive despite current conditions.
We’ve grown from those fights, a deeper understanding of each other and the intricacies of our love. I’ve learned that leaving the house without giving you a kiss goodbye puts a dour on your mood and amplifies any other problem. You are accustomed to always having some form of skinship, knowing that it grounds me and pulls me out of any bad thoughts.
I guess I’m writing this today, because you are going to change in the next few weeks. The Olympic games start soon and everything you’ve worked for is coming to fruition. I’ve been with you through so many stages of evolution. I can’t wait to see you after this one. I hope you win, but honestly it doesn't matter to me. No matter what, I’m gonna be waiting there when you get off the court. Ready to blaze through the next phase of this adventure we’ve created together.
Nice to meet you, future Morisuke. You’ll still be my forever.
With every word soaked in my eternal love,
Your firestorm.

Despite spending a full day in whatever scenario you were in and experiencing yesterday, you look around your ‘room’, still confused as ever. Were you really in a game? A game, like the ones you play on your phone for shits and giggles? That kind of game? Well, shit. You look around your room. It really looked like your typical otome game room – a pastel colored wall with posters of unknown anime and idol groups plastered on it, a simple window with a tiny plant and curtains that could hardly keep out the vibrant sunshine invading your room. It was already morning.
ding!
Flinching at the sudden noise, you look around and see your cellphone, the screen bright and colorful, indicating a new message on it. Looking closely, you see not one, but several new notifications on it. But, what caught your eye first were the large letters above all of them – Day 2. What?
“Are my days numbered or something?” You ask yourself, evident anxiety and fear lacing your voice. What would happen if you didn’t fulfill the tasks needed or don’t end up in a relationship with anyone of the possible characters? You closed your eyes, trying to remember the outcome of otome games you had played prior to this one, but it’s as if that information was nonexistent and unreachable.
Your hands shake as you open the next notification: new character! Oikawa Tooru.
And there, on your screen, was the same boy from yesterday. You could never forget a face like this one; curly brown hair that seemed to effortlessly fall and shine, dark brown eyes that are glinting with slight mischievousness, but keep pulling you in and making it hard not to get flustered at the mere sight of it – “was I this flustered when I stumbled upon him yesterday,” you ask yourself as you lay a hand on your heated cheek.
Clicking on his profile, you see a bar – a progress bar to be exact. Not even half full, but still shining brightly as it shows how much progress you’ve made with said character – 30%. Somewhere around the 80% mark there was a star and below the bar, an explanation:
‘Progress report! This page shows your progress with each met character. Your decisions affect your relationship with each character. Fill the bar to 80% and more to, ultimately end with said character! Remember – you cannot better one relationship without it having a bad effect on the other two!’
You sigh, throwing the phone on the bed and falling back onto it. Staring at the white ceiling above, you try to figure out why only Oikawa showed up. Wasn’t there a second person with him? Iwa-chan, ye, that was his name. Why isn’t he a potential love interest? Didn’t you interact with both of them enough to have a decent enough relationship with both and not just Oikawa? Yeah, game’s never let hot side characters be an option, and that has and always will suck.
ding!
Another notification? You think to yourself, grabbing the phone and seeing another new notification – but, this time, it was something completely new. Skip school or go to class?
“You have got to be kidding me,” you groan and glare at the screen, but the choices remain the same. Was this what they meant with the bolded lettering in the progress report? Neither option was completely perfect. Maybe focusing solely on Oikawa and progressing your relationship with him only would make things easier, but maybe the game didn’t want that. And, who knows, maybe you’re making the right decision with your final choice: skip school.
It happened suddenly. Transporting from your room to a crowded street. Where were you?
Looking around, you notice numerous shops and restaurants lining up on your left, but there was a blinding light in front of a specific coffee shop. You figured no one else could see it because they simply passed right over it, without giving it a single glance – am I supposed to go there?
You try opening the door to the shop on your immediate left, only to find it completely jammed. Same with the next shop, and the one after that. What made it even more confusing was the fact that other people could normally enter them, unlike you. “Sorry,” you mumble out your nth apology of the minute, moving to let other people pass and enter the shop. Your feet slowly moved to the coffee shop, stepping into the shining, bright light; and, suddenly, the door opened in front of you.
The interior of the coffee shop was anything but special. It looked like your everyday coffee shop, with a handful of customers circling around or chit chatting at the tables and counters. Were you supposed to buy some coffee? Your thoughts were rudely interrupted by some steaming hot content that happened to find its way onto your clothing. Oh boy, did it burn.
“Oh shit!” Well, there’s the culprit. “Nice going Bakageyama! Look what you’ve done!” And, there’s another one.
You swallow the stream of curse words threatening to spill out of your mouth and look up at the person who spilled their coffee all over you. Oh, oh.
In front of you was a very, very, handsome looking teen (he looks younger than that Oikawa dude from yesterday, you note down) and despite the fact that he was the one at fault here, having spilled his coffee on you, he looked way more irritated than you. There was a deep scowl decorating his features that seemed very sharp as it is, but the glare and scowl somehow, weirdly, suited him. What caught your eyes were the piercing blue pair looking at your own. Hello, Bakageyama.
“I’m so sorry! No, wait!” It was only then that you noticed his friend beside him, a lot shorter than this guy, but with very vibrant hair. He bowed at first, apologizing for what his friend did and then, as if realizing the inconsistency, shot up and roughly pushed the other guy’s back into a bow. “Hey-““We’re really sorry for ruining your shirt!”
“Uhm..,” you mutter out, not knowing exactly how to respond. “It’s okay. I, uhm, I wasn’t looking where I was going either, so it’s kind of my fault as well.” You rub the back of your neck, face flushed as the two teens straightened. The sticky, wet feeling of cold coffee damping your shit and sticking your shirt to your skin was everything but pleasant, but you felt the inability to go back home and change. What do you need to do here?
“Oh, shi- Kageyama, we’re so late for morning practice!” The bright, orange-haired guy exclaimed – rather loudly, if you might say so yourself – and made a quick dash towards the entrance. “Hurry it up!” „Hold on, dumbass,” the taller of the duo, still holding onto his only third-full coffee cup, snapped back and sighed, eyes glancing downwards to your soaked front. He placed the dirty cup on the nearest table and started unzipping and taking of his jacket, face sporting a fiery red blush.
“W-what are you doing?” You stutter out, face flaming as well. The guy shoves the jacket in front of you, waiting for you to take it. “Just...take this.” His eyes were everywhere yours weren’t, dancing across the whole interior of the coffee shop. “I’m...this is for me spilling coffee all over you, so just take it.” Now, it really did feel like your typical ‘this or that’. Take the jacket or don’t take the jacket.
“T-Thank you,” you shyly say as you take the black jacket from him. He runs off shortly after, leaving behind something between a grunt and a ‘hello’, but you’ll take it. You put on the jacket that was clearly tailored for someone of his size and built, but it did the job perfectly. The jacket smelt divine as well, there was no denying that and it was warm due to being worn for a while by the guy. Wait a minute? What was his name?
And, just like that, the coffee shop felt irrelevant. You, thankfully, remembered the way back to your house – or was it just a room? You didn’t really notice – and made your way into the bedroom. And, once plopping onto the bed, you receive a few, new notifications on your phone.
‘new message from: Oikawa Tooru’
-    Where were you at school today? The teachers were pretty upset with me for not paying more attention to you...I don’t know what their problem is sent 10:34pm
-   I’m sorry...didn’t feel well sent 10:36pm
‘Progress report! Relationship with Oikawa Tooru: 30% > 20%’
‘new character! Kageyama Tobio’
‘Progress report! Relationship with Kageyama Tobio: 30%’
You couldn’t stop the small smile dancing on your lips as you look through Kageyama’s character profile; he looked cute even on screen. Maybe skipping school was worth it, you did meet your ‘second option’.
“Now, we just wait for the third,” you murmur out, abruptly feeling drained as you snuggle under the bed covers. It didn’t feel long when your phone chimed again:
Day 3.

Making a Home Ch. 10
Kita Shinsuke had experienced a lot in life. He had been raised with his grandmother, a loving foster parent and for some time he followed in her foot steps before finding his own path. He thought his foster care license had expired before getting a call at three am with two small boys thrust into his arms. Miya Osamu and Atsumu, from broken homes but still fighting. Thirty days before his license expires. Thirty days to make a choice, keep the boys or let them be separated into different homes. Thirty days to fall in love with them.
Words: 3k
Relationships: Gen
Warnings: Mention of past child abuse, non-graphic abuse
Not from Kita, but it is mentioned. I will post any warnings before any panic attacks or vague descriptions of abuse.
Read below or on AO3
Shinsuke didn’t look up as the doorbell rang again, letting Oikawa move past him to greet whoever had come in. Instead he and Osamu had Azumane on his knees in the back corner office while Osamu did his best to braid a ribbon into the long stips. Azumane still looked a little traumatized from having a four foot tall child run up to him and yell the question at him to braid his hair.
“Are you sure… This is highly unprofessional.” Azumane said, glancing up at his boss.
Shinsuke was moving the drawings on the back wall to clear up more space and barely gave Azumane a quick flick of his eyes before he was shrugging. He didn’t say that as long as Osamu was smiling he would let him do anything, he didn’t think it needed saying aloud.
“My store, my rules. And I think you’re meeting the dress code just fine.” Shinsuke hummed, trying not to laugh at Azumane’s defeated sigh.
“We have a dress code?” Sugawara’s voice made Azumane whine a little louder as the silver haired man crouched down to offer Osamu a new clip to slide into the braided ribbons before moving to the thread wall. Azumane gave him a look of despair as the butterfly was quickly added to his hair, Shinsuke only felt a little guilty that it was probably starting to get unnaturally heavy. Not nearly enough to stop Osamu though
“Yes, it specifically states not to wear anything Oikawa considers to be good.” Shinsuke turned, ignoring the laughter that broke from Sugawara as the pounding of feet reached him. Seconds later Atsumu burst through the gateway.
“ ‘Samu! I’m getting married.” The words made Shinsuke drop the drawings immediately as he scrambled to understand what was going on. He twisted to stare open mouthed at Atsumu, completely speechless as the child rushed at his brother and skittered to a stop in front of him.
“Why?” Osamu looked as confused and terrified as Shinsuke himself felt. Atsumu either didn’t notice or didn’t care because he just held up a box with a bright oversized grin.
“ ‘Cuz if I marry him then I get all the cookies always!” Atsumu chirped, eyes wide with wonder and delight. Shinsuke slowly turned his head to blink at Azumane and Sugawara, both of them were already looking to him for answers.
“Akagi…” Shinsuke called, letting his eyes fall shut as he heard Akagi’s squeaky answer from outside of the back office. He moved around the boys, pausing only enough to brush Atsumu’s hair down from the wind, and looked to find Akagi attempting to hide behind a rack.
“I left you alone with him for…” He glanced at the clock and then back over. “An hour and a half. And now he’s getting married?”
Akagi looked momentarily ashamed before shrugging and holding up a box of baked goods. He smiled pleasantly over the box, attempting to flutter his lashes sweetly but it did nothing against Shinsuke’s annoyed glare.
“It’s not my fault.” Akagi whined, pitching his voice up and making a few customers glance over. He quieted when Shinsuke’s eyes narrowed but his pout only grew stronger as he huffed.
“I didn’t tell Shinji-kun to give him an extra muffin. He just did it and said he liked Atsumu’s shirt, then Atsumu was declaring their engagement to everyone. I thought I was going to have to fight Takahiro-kun for his son’s honor.”
Shinsuke watched him before sighing and glancing back at the twins. They had joined Azumane on the ground and were currently sharing pieces of muffin with him while Sugawara finished grabbing the fabric he’d actually come in for.
“I think Asahi’s already planning the wedding outfits,” Sugawara said breezily as he moved past and back to his customer.
“I’m not making enough money to deal with all of you at the same time.” Shinsuke said softly, wondering if this was going to be his life.
Running after Akagi to keep him from accidentally traumatizing Shinsuke’s kids, or worse teaching them things to traumatize all of the adults in their life. Meanwhile, Sugawara had found Oikawa and was currently harassing him with a perfectly innocent smile while he tailored a customer’s pant leg. Azumane had grabbed his tablet and was sketching something out while Atsumu was being taught by his brother how to continue the endless braids on Azumane’s head.
In all honesty, a life like this… was a good one. The feeling was sweet, winding in Shinsuke’s stomach as he watched the scene and he wondered if that was why his grandmother had never given up on foster care. Children weren’t necessary for his life to be happy, he was happy before they had arrived and if they left he would still find his life fulfilling and what he wanted. Yet, they brought something new, something light that Shinsuke was hesitant to give up. He could nurture them, protect them, help them grow and the option was more enticing by the minute.
“Oh shit you’re smiling… I’m going to die… Goodbye my sweet ‘Mimi, goodbye my muscular boo Aran, farewell my darling nephews- Shinsuke where are you going? You know my dramatic monologue needs an audience. Don’t make me download TikTok to get attention, you know I’ll do it.” Akagi called softly as Shinsuke took the box of treats before turning and walking away, a fondly exasperated smile playing on his lips. Shinsuke raised a hand to dismiss his remarks, ignoring the whine that rose up.
“Go help one of the customers, I have kids to watch.” Shinsuke said, slipping into the office to watch Atsumu finish his first braid. It was terrible and unbalanced and Shinsuke was proud of him.
“Hey, did you want to meet the others and bring them their muffins?” Shinsuke asked the two of them, holding up Akagi’s box in explanation. Both of them lit up, smiling brightly as they nodded and reached their hands up eagerly for Shinsuke to take them.
The day passed rather quickly, especially after the length of the day before, and as seven o’clock hit Shinsuke was flipping off the last light in the shop. Azumane and Sugawara had left only a few minutes before and Akaashi had escaped a few hours ago. Oikawa was still on the phone with someone but he gave Shinsuke a thumbs up and mimed locking the door as he passed.
Atsumu had already snuck back into the house and was curled up on the couch with Kitty as he played through ‘Spyro’. Osamu on the other hand, had decided he was in charge of Akagi for the day and was enjoying bossing him around.
Still, Shinsuke hadn’t expected to walk into the office between the two buildings to see Akagi on the floor and Osamu in front of him. Osamu was doing his absolute best to explain how to draw a flower for a card and Akagi was either intentionally harassing him or genuinely had no idea what he was doing. Shinsuke watched from the doorway for a moment before deciding it was a little bit of both.
More than a few doodles decorated the floor, markers and crayons laying beside both of their knees while they leaned over Akagi’s current project. Each one was decorated with rather… adorable characters for ‘cheer up’ and ‘you’re doing great’. Shinsuke honestly had no idea what it was for or why Osamu was making Akagi make them but as long as they were having fun he wasn’t going to say anything.
“No, no, you have to make petals- Shinsuke-san!” Osamu chirped as he felt eyes on his back and turned to see him. He grinned, a bright and free smile, and pointed at Akagi who was still just drawing lines on his paper.
“We’re making cards for Azumane! So when he gets scared he can look at these and know it’s okay!” Osamu explained and Shinsuke’s heart melted. He moved over, gently mussing the hair and trying not to give in to the urge to kiss his head.
“That’s great, Osamu. Will you be helping me with dinner tonight as well?” He asked, heart swelling at the way Osamu’s eyes lit up and the child twisted to grab ahold of his hand.
“Can I?”
“Of course. But you need to clean up all of this before we can. So why don’t you help Akagi clean up and then we can get started?” Shinsuke offered and Osamu nodded. He turned to Akagi, hands on his hips.
“C’mon Oji-san! Let’s get this taken care of! Then I can show you how to cook so you’re not hungry anymore.”
Shinsuke laughed softly, making his way inside as Akagi insisted he knew how to cook. Between himself and Osamu, Akagi might actually leave the country with basic knowledge to feed himself instead of eating out constantly.
Shinsuke glanced over at the couch as he walked in, noting Atsumu’s curled-up position. As attached to his brother as he was, Atsumu hadn’t really branched out much and didn’t seem to connect with people as well as his brother. Even with his comment about marriage (though Shinsuke still thought it was rather cute he had forgotten that money was a thing that he could use to buy pastries and instead skipped straight to marriage) he hadn’t brought up Shinji-kun or the bakery again all day.
“Do you mind if I sit with you?” Shinsuke asked softly, waiting for Atsumu’s nervous glance and jerky head nod. “Thank you, Atsumu… Can I check on your cheek?”
This time Atsumu fully froze, pressing the pause button on the game. His eyes darted to Shinsuke before he slowly nodded his head, anxiety clear in his gaze. Despite seeming to finally relax and branch out, Atsumu wasn’t actually asking for what he wanted. Instead he was letting his brother lead them around and following along happily with whatever adult offered him something.
Shinsuke moved closer until he could gently tilt up the child’s head, looking over the dark purple skin carefully. Atsumu’s eye didn’t seem affected by it and it was healing well for only being the second day. Though Shinsuke could see that it was slightly swollen, the skin around it pink and irritated like someone had been prodding it.
“Does it hurt much?” Shinsuke asked as he pulled his hand back with a quiet thank you.
“I’ve had worse.” Atsumu said and Shinsuke noticed he didn’t answer the question. Atsumu turned his head away as Shinsuke tried to look closer, a frown on his own lips.
“Atsumu, were you touching it?” He kept his voice light and gentle so Atsumu wouldn’t think he was in trouble. Regardless the child flinched subtly, fingers grasping the controller tighter.
“The… the people in the shop… kept staring…” Atsumu confessed after a few heartbeats, shaking slightly. “I wanted to make them go away but… It just… made it worse…”
Shinsuke stared at him for a moment, feeling guilty for not noticing at all. Of course Atsumu would have been self conscious about his face especially with the memory of how it happened so fresh in his memory.
“Why didn't you say anything?” Shinsuke regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth. Of course Atsumu hadn’t said anything. He didn’t know he could trust anyone yet, it was only the second day there was no way he would have warmed up so quickly with his past.
Atsumu froze, shaking slightly and Shinsuke realized he was trying to hold his breath before he started crying. His mind blanked for a second before he rapidly told himself to calm down and instead focused on Atsumu.
“I’m sorry Atsumu. It’s alright if you don’t want to tell me things, I didn’t mean to imply otherwise…” Shinsuke started but it was clear that it wasn’t helping when Atsumu shook again with a ragged breath. “Atsumu…”
Shinsuke licked his lips, trying to think of how to calm him down before Osamu and Akagi finished. He didn’t want Atsumu shutting himself off to everyone to keep his brother happy and he definitely didn’t want Osamu to pick up on his brother’s panic and leave him with two anxious kids to calm down.
“Atsumu,” he started again letting his voice soften until it was near a whisper, “it’s alright. I’m sorry they were staring at you, next time you can come back inside if you want. I’m sorry I didn’t notice, I should have been there to help you. I’m very sorry I didn’t protect you.”
Atsumu’s gaze shot to him, once, twice, three times. The tiniest tears were forming at the edge of his eyes at his panic before confusion started to build instead. His mouth moved without words, and his eyes danced around the room. His fingers tapped at the controller for a moment before he finally seemed to be able to come back to himself.
“What…” His voice was a whisper and Shinsuke regretted not watching his words better. “Why… Why are you sorry?”
“Atsumu, it scared you right? Made you upset that they stared?” Shinsuke waited for the inevitable nod before continuing. “I should have stopped that but I didn’t realize it was happening. It’s my fault for not protecting you… Atsumu… A parent is supposed to protect you, I should have let you know you were allowed to leave earlier or let you know you could have stayed right next to me. And for that I’m sorry. The bruises on your face won’t go away by poking at them, they’ll just hurt worse and now it’s because I failed you. I’m sorry, Atsumu. I hope you can forgive me.”
Atsumu wasn’t able to speak, he just stared at Shinsuke. Choked noises came from his throat but no words escaped as he looked on with confusion and anxiety. The child swallowed, looking away a second later before rapidly nodding his head.
The only other time any adult had ever apologized had been when Kenma-kun said sorry for his game music being loud back at the police station. No adult had ever apologized to Atsumu for messing up and certainly none of his foster parents had ever bothered to ask him to forgive them.
Atsumu had no idea what to do with the knowledge or how to act. Did he say yes? Did he hug Shinsuke? Did he say sorry back? Cry? Smile?
He put the controller down slowly beside him, biting his lip as he turned to look more fully at Shinsuke. His foster parent actually looked remorseful, like he did really feel bad for not noticing Atsumu’s problem. Atsumu wasn’t really sure how to tell him that he was good at hiding it, and he had a feeling that would just make Shinsuke sad again. After all… Parents were supposed to love their kids right? Being hurt would make a parent sad and Shinsuke had said...
“You… Said...parent…” Atsumu said softly, flinching internally as Shinsuke blinked at him. He meant foster parent, of course he did. Atsumu shook his head, shoving away the hope and the heartache that was taking its place.
“It’s okay…” Atsumu said quickly as Shinsuke opened his mouth to say something. “Really… it’s okay. I… I… I’ll leave, next time.”
Shinsuke hesitated, wanting to push further but this wasn’t a teenager. This was a scared six year old who didn’t have the tools or the emotional maturity to talk through all of this in one sitting. They’d have to work at it. Together.
“Only if you want to.” Shinsuke murmured, tilting his head to look at the bruises again. “I’ll go get an ice pack for the swelling alright?”
Atsumu nodded, letting his gaze fall to the couch when Shinsuke left. He should have known better than to think Shinsuke actually thought of himself as their parent. He must have meant whichever parents decided to adopt them, if any did.
Yet….
Shinsuke-san was kind, was it bad of Atsumu to wish Shinsuke was his parent? That Shinsuke would decide to keep them after all instead of passing them off like a baton? Was Atsumu a bad person for not wanting Shinsuke to be disappointed in him for being weak? Was he betraying his future parents by wanting Shinsuke to stay with him and Osamu?
He jumped as he felt Shinsuke sitting down again, looking up to see him offering an ice pack in one hand and… The fish crackers that Atsumu had asked for at the store.
Shinsuke’s blank face softened and Atsumu was starting to realize that Shinsuke wasn’t blank so much as… quiet. You had to look further than just his frown to know what he was thinking.
“You didn’t eat much at lunch since you ate so many muffins, so I thought you might like them.” Shinsuke explained as he reached forward and placed the ice pack gently over Atsumu’s bruise. Atsumu shook slightly, the words escaping him again but Shinsuke didn’t seem to mind as he ruffled his hair.
“Are you okay? You just have to nod or shake your head, okay?” Shinsuke said, the corners of his lips lifting as Atsumu nodded his head and moved to hold the pack on his face. Shinsuke pushed off the couch after opening the box, turning back towards the shop.
“I’m going to go see what’s taking Osamu and Akagi so long okay?” He explained, moving a few steps towards the door. He glanced back when a soft noise came from Atsumu, taking in the blinking eyes that lingered on the spot beside him.
Atsumu didn’t want to be alone again. Part of him hated it, he’d only had Osamu for years. Why was it different now? Part of him wanted to call Shinsuke back, ask if he was allowed a hug… Ask if he could stay a little while longer so Atsumu could pretend Shinsuke cared about him more than the money, more than because a friend asked. So Atsumu could pretend a little longer he was wanted.
“Hey Atsumu?” Shinsuke called, waiting until he glanced up to make sure he heard. “After dinner, would you be okay with showing me how to play that minecraft game?”
Atsumu’s eyes lit up immediately and he nodded, the barest hint of a grin growing on his face. Shinsuke couldn’t help but smile back, finally turning to look for his wayward sons that probably were covering his walls in paint.
They had some more work to do. A lot more work really, but Atsumu was smiling and Osamu’s laughter was echoing from the office. Shinsuke couldn’t help but think that this was a very good life.

Note
for fandom asks: 001 (fandom): haikyuu, knb, pmmm and 1 of own choice you would like to write about; 002 (ship): 4 your current otps; 003 (character): favorite Winx character, and also Catra
001 | Send me a fandom and I will tell you my:
Haikyuu!!
Favorite character: Hinata Shoyou, Yamaguchi Tadashi, Yachi Hitoka, Ushijima Wakatoshi, Semi Eita, Kuroo Tetsurou and Iwaizumi Hajime
Least Favorite character: Bokuto Koutarou and Oikawa Tooru
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Ushiten, Kagehina, SemiShira, it’s not my favorite but I’ve recently gotten a liking for Atsumu x Sakusa, DaiSuga
Character I find most attractive: Ushijima Wakatoshi, Kuroo Tetsurou and Time skip Atsumu looks really nice too
Character I would marry: Aone or Iwaizumi they’re both sweethearts whom I like a lot and would be easy to get along with
Character I would be best friends with: Yamaguchi certainly we have very similar personalities and he seems like a really interesting person with whom I’d love to talk with
A random thought: Miya Atsumu could be a model cause he got the looks and attitude for it, also he should totally meet Oikawa! They would either get along well or roast each other 24/7 there’s no in-between
An unpopular opinion: should i say it? …I think the Fukurodani team is unecessary to the plot and Bokuto and Akaashi specifically are way too overhyped like they’re not that good
My Canon OTP: no otp is canon sadly
My Non-canon OTP: i’ve mentioned before in 5 fave ships
Most Badass Character: Oikawa and Ushijima they’re quite intense in a match, and they pulled out some really good lines
Most Epic Villain: is there even a villain in Haikyuu? It’s not like Knb where Akashi is clearly made to be the villain, it’s more like different teams with dorks try to win and have to fight against each other to do so but there’s no one who has “villain” characteristics, even Daishou is a dork
Pairing I am not a fan of: KuroTsukki and Oikage
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): none!! Furudate aced them all, literally all of them are loveable (I used to dislike Shirabu but even he ended up growing on me in the end)
Favourite Friendship: Asahi x Suga x Daichi, Kageyama x Hinata x Yachi, All of Shiratorizawa members (they’re like a family), Oikawa x Iwaizumi, Hinata x Aone and also I need to add Atsumu x Osamu cause I love their interactions so much they perfectly reflect what it’s like to have a twin!
Character I most identify with: Osamu Miya, he seems chill and calm at first sight but when provoked (by his brother mostly) he will get angry and that’s so me! People always say that I rarely speak and I’m always calm but family know that there’s a whole other side of me ^^’
Character I wish I could be: Iwaizumi Hajime! He’s such an icon: he’s inspiring, everyone looks up to him and respect him, he’s athletic and intelligent on top of being a great friend! Honestly, who wouldn’t want to be him
Kuroko no Basuke
Favorite character: Takao Kazunari, Momoi Satsuki, Riko Aida and Izuki ShunLeast Favorite character: Hanamiya Makoto and Murasakibara Atsushi5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): MidoTaka, Kagakuro, Aokaga, Riko x     Hyuuga, Kise x Kasamatsu
Character I find most attractive: Takao Kazunari, Midorima Shintarou and Alexandra Garcia
Character I would marry: Kagami Taiga, he’d be perfect husband material he’s a dork  but can be serious at the same time I really like this personality type
Character I would be best friends with: Furihata Kouki!! He’s like Yamaguchi so the reasons are the same ^^
A random thought: Takao and Izuki should have interacted in the anime!!    Imagine all the birds pun they would come with and the chaotic energy they     would bring (I know that they talked in a Drama CD but I wanna see it     animated)
An unpopular opinion: Seirin shouldn’t have won the Winter Cup, they weren’t     qualified enough for it and the teams they faced (mainly Kaijou and Rakuzan) were way too overpowered for them, but of course the plot has it that the protagonist always has to win 😒My Canon OTP: Hyuuga x Riko (it is implied they become canon at the end of     last game) and Riko x KiyoshiMy Non-canon OTP: listed above in fave ships but i’ll add Kise x Momoi and     Aomine x Momoi (as a brOTP) and Himuro x NijimuraMost Badass Character: Masako Araki (Yosen’s coach) she’s soo badass!!! And  apparently she also ride a motorcycle which adds bonus points to it! Also     Himuro cause he can fight too and he doesn’t mess around (as shown in that     replace plus where he meets Nijimura)Most Epic Villain: Rakuzan, they gave good performance!Pairing I am not a fan of: Kuroko x GOM but specifically Akashi x KurokoCharacter I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I can’t think of     anyoneFavourite Friendship: Kise x Aomine x Momoi, Aomine x Kagami x Kuroko, Shuutoku as a whole, Izuki x Hyuuga x Kiyoshi, Kagami x Himuro x Alexandra Garcia and of course Kagami x KurokoCharacter I most identify with: Furihata KoukiCharacter I wish I could be: Riko Aida! Did you see her, girl can kick ass and look  pretty at the same time what the hell?
Puella Madoka Magica (maan you threw me far away with that one, it’s been 3 years since i last saw it ^^’)
Favorite character: Akemi Homura, her story is amazing she’s badass and has cool powersLeast Favorite  character: Kyubey, I hate that bitch and even though he thought “he was doing a favor” to the girls by making them invincible he just destroyed     them especially Sayaka!!5 Favorite ships(canon or non-canon): I can’t find that many ships so I’m gonna go for two  main ones : Sayaka x Kiyoko, Homura x MadokaCharacter I find most attractive: Akemi Homura, she totally fits my fave character trope     *-*Character I would  marry: Madoka, she’s soo cute and kind i really like her personality  overallCharacter I would  be best friends with: Madoka again, cause she’s a lot like me in the current serie and I would like to be friends with her she’s such a caring     persona random thought: I wonder what would have happened if Sayaka and Kyoko liked each other from  the get go, would Kyoko be able to save her since she went through same thing as SayakaAn unpopular  opinion: i don’t have oneMy Canon OTP: again, there’s noneMy Non-canon OTP: mentioned above ↑Most Badass Character: Akemi Homura, Sakura Kyoko is cool too! I like her fighting styleMost Epic Villain: The witch i guessPairing I am not a fan of: noneCharacter I feel  the writers screwed up (in one way or another): none, they’re all well  written and portrayedFavourite Friendship: Homura x MadokaCharacter I most identify with: MadokaCharacter I wish I could be: Akemi Homura (what’s ironic, is that in middle school  I used to be like Madoka in the first timeline when she met Homura but now I’m more like Homura In her first   timeline ^^’)
She-ra
Favorite character: Scorpia, Adora, Bow, Mermista and Glimmer
Least Favorite  character: Entrapta and Lord Hordak5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Catradora, Perfuma x Huntara, Bow x Glimmer, Micah xAngela and Mermista x Sea HawkCharacter I find most attractive: Catra! Boii she looks so fine, and her design got even better in season 4 (can we talk about that dress Glimmer picture her in     her imagination cause daamn, and that suit she wears when she dances with     Adora aaaahh I die everytime)Character I would marry: Mermista, I’d love to get to know her better and see her soft sideCharacter I would  be best friends with: Bow, cause who wouldn’t wanna befriend Bow? Also Sea  Hawk and Scorpia!a random thought: I think Scorpia and Catra’s relationship will eventually mend after she and  Glimmer get out safe but it will never be the same as before i.e there will be no more goofing off from Scorpia, she will be quite distant toward     Catra and will instead get closer to the other princesses especially after Catra sent Entrapta to beast island and threatened her. Like I know Scorpia is a forgiving person but even kind people have their limit and  since Scorpia realized the true nature of Catra there’s no coming back from this, she can’t act like nothing ever happened in favor of moving on An unpopular  opinion: I don’t get the hype about Double Trouble, he’s not even that  entertaining as a character like sure he pulled off some good lines but     overall mehMy Canon OTP: Micah  x AngelaMy Non-canon OTP:  mentioned above ↑Most Badass  Character: She-ra and Catra ofc, but Mermista and Scorpia are also really cool! Most Epic Villain: Catra, she plays her role so well but it’s also heart-wrenching to see her downfallPairing I am not a  fan of: Can’t come up with anyCharacter I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): None, all of them are well written, great job Noelle Stevenson!Favourite Friendship: Glimmadora, Catra x Scorpia (or at least what’s left of it)   and CatradoraCharacter I most identify with: Scorpia, I relate to her in a sense where I too when I’m  close to someone and they fucked up I can’t accept it and I keep looking for excuses to justify their behaviors and it takes a long time for me to     open my eyes to their real nature
Character I wish I could be: Bow, he’s so chill, friendly, positive and intelligent he has a good energy that I dig and also he’s forgiving and trusting which are both  traits I’d like to have too
002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:
 Ushiten (Haikyuu!!)
When I started shipping them: When I rewatched Haikyuu season 3 recently and I was like *heart eye emoji* at them
My thoughts: They’re perfect for each other, their personalities oppose yet synchronize perfectly and they’re both each other’s first close friend and  we can see that they’re close by the way Ushijima doesn’t mind Tendou’s constant and casual physical touches and him addressing the ace by his first name and Tendou is super comfortable with Ushijima as seen when he tells him “i will watch you on TV and will brag about us being best friends” this was super cute imo, and one can think that Ushijima doesn’t care for him cause he doesn’t show anything but it’s not true cause he has great faith in Tendou as shown in Haikyuu Buu when they think the kappa is Tendou and he (kappa) whisks a man away effortlessly and Ushijima says “Tendou always attend practices, he should be able to do that” to which Goshiki replies “You have too much faith in him” also apparently they’re often together as shown again in Haikyuu Buu when Ushijima helped Tendou with the drawing part for the manga he wants to release.
What makes me happy about them: Their dynamics!! I love the opposite personalities attract trope it’s the best
What makes me sad about them: They might have never had a close friend before they met each other, they must have been lonely especially Tendou with his bullying issues and Ushijima who was probably ostracized due to everyone putting him on a pedestal with his great skills and him being awkward socially, it’s a good thing they met each other cause they clearly made each other happier since then. Also another thing that makes me sad : Where is Tendou??? Why is he not cheering on Ushijima in his last match?? You can’t convince me he doesn’t go to see each and every one of his match and cheer loudly for his friend
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: nothing, all the fics I’ve read so far are good
Things I look for in fanfic: an accurate depiction of their characters, some fluffiness and of course angst
 My wishlist:
- Them hugging !!
- Them expressing their feelings in a heart-to-heart conversation
- Tendou doing something funny unconsciously and Ushijima laughing out loud and all of Shiratorizawa going :O (like that smile where he smiles in the Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa match and everyone is like “so blessed, so moved”)
- Tendou feels like crap and Ushijima try to tell a joke to cheer him up end up failing successfully cause Tendou laugh and tell him “Thanks Toshi, I really needed that”
- On that note, Tendou calling Ushijima “Toshi” softly when they’re having a moment!! Cue flustered Ushijima on the inside when he first heard it
- Them ready to throw hands for each other when they hear others call one of them names or see something offending toward one of them
- Tendou teaching Ushijima how to dance!!
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: hmm I can’t come up with anyone
My happily ever after for them: They remain good friends forever even though they have their own things going on in life (or they remain best friends and marry each other)
Saruhiko Fushimi x Misaki Yata (K project)
When I started shipping them: Ever since we’ve been shown their past! (so quite in the  beginning)My thoughts: I like them a lot, their relationship through the serie took me for an  emotional ride and that angst maaan it’s so well done!! Saruhiko’s longing for Misaki to see only him and the pain he put him through by betraying him and the clan killed me from the get go (and their fight in first  season episode 5  was poetic  cinema!!) Also Misaki saying that even though Saruhiko is a traitor he     still enjoys the memories with him at Homra, and their childhood story is     great!! (Lost small world is a treasure *-*) then they fight twice together in the second season and I’m like “!!!!” (omggg I just remembered there  was a moment in season 2 where they were fighting against each other and Fushimi pinned Yata against the wall and I was like kdsfksdfksdfn aaaaaaa) I’m excited so my thoughts are all over the place, but all in all what I’m trying to say is     that I really like their dynamic and how their story was presented  ^-^  What makes me happy about them: That they’re actively trying to patch up their relationship (as shown in drama CD when Yata hang out with Fushimi and propose him to have a drink together) that made me soo happy! Cause after all what they’ve been through they really deserved this good thing happening to     them at lastWhat makes me sad  about them: Their whole fight and the betrayal also the fact that Fushimi  was mostly alone before he met Yata cause his father is a jerk and his mother is absent from his life so meeting Yata is what really saved him     and it’s obvious he was really happy with him but when they joined Homra he had to see Yata drift away from him then he left the clan and lost his closest friend by doing so, maan can you imagine how rough that must have  been on him all along :( but on the other hand when I think about  the fact that Yata had his friend betray him abruptly and burn his “pride” (the Homra insigna) in front of him as if it meant nothing to him when it means the world to Yata and him seeing Totsuka die in his arms and deal  with Mikoto’s death too…man just hold on a second, it’s too much for those 19 y/o boy it’s really really sad and they both deserved betterThings done in  fanfic that annoys me: it’s been too long since I read fics in that fandom so I don’t rememberThings I look for  in fanfic: An accurate portrayal of their relationship, a thoroughly detailed scene where they have a heart-to-heart conversation about the betrayal
My wishlist:
- Them having a heart-to-heart conversation about everything the betrayal and everything that happened between since them, cue lots of vulnerability that ends with them crying cause they realized they lost so much
- Them hugging at some point after that heart-to-heart conversation
-Them goofing around together like old times
- Them flirting with each other oblivious to what it truly implies, also constantly stealing glances toward each other’s and the others around them being so done with their pining like get together already
- Them sleeping together (literally just sleeping, nothing else)
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: honestly, no one I only  ship them with each other, all other options would be weird
My happily ever after for them: They end up together and possibly marry and have kids, I just want them happy
Drew x May (Pokemon: Advanced Generation)
When I started shipping them: Ever since Drew started offering May roses!! And he was clearly pining for her, as seen when they get stuck in that cave on their own and May is playing with pokemons found there and he looks at her with such a fond smile (that’s the moment I melted)
My thoughts: Enemies to friends to lover is my favorite trope so with it’s no doubt that I ended up shipping them, they’re soo cute together and i love how May get flustered when he offer her roses and they respect each other greatly also I loved that moment when May started to slowly realize her feelings toward him for example how she was jealous that Drew was popular or how she questioned seriously what they were when that girl Brianna told her that she won’t lose to her in regards to Drew (cause I think she was in love with him too, I don’t remember the details too well it’s been a long time) also that scene on the beach at the end!!! It was peak romance between them and May’s mom at the end even asked her if he was her boyfriend, and that scene in the sunset maaan!! I’m a sucker for this ship! Everytime I fall back in Pokemon I watch episodes featuring these two
What makes me happy about them: Everything, their interactions and their dynamic is gold and they’re so good for each other! And here I am in 2020 still petty that the author didn’t give them a shot! They deserved better!
What makes me sad about them: That they had to part ways at the end L
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I only read one fanfic about them and it was quite nice so no complaints here
Things I look for in fanfic: I don’t know exactly, it’s been ages since I haven’t looked anything for this pair
My wishlist:
-Them confessing to each other and the whole thing being super awkward but cute at the same time
-Roses becoming a thing between them!! Drew offers her roses at any special occasion ever since they start going out and everytime he accompanies them with a cheesy pick up line or a poem cause he’s secretly a big romantic sap and is also deeply in love with her
-Drew would be super spoiling toward her cause he deems she only deserves the best (omg now I’m listening to this song that makes me soft and fit them perfectly!! It’s in French but you can look up the translation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPQmtlTlGZ8 )
- Domesticity!!! Them living together and all the cute and soft things that follows with it
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: no one
My happily ever after for them: Them living together and being happy for the rest of their lives
Yona x Hak (Akatasuki no Yona)
When I started shipping them: When we were shown Hak pining after Yona!! This shit was super cute, and their whole dynamic is great
My thoughts: I really like them a lot!! I love how Hak stayed with Yona through and through, and did I mention Hak pining over Yona?? Cause maaan!! Also that scene where Yona kill Yong kuelbo with her arc shooting and Hak is like *heart eyes motherfucker* alsoo that scene in the manga where Yona impress everyone with her accuracy at shooting and Hak is like “that’s my girl right here!!” with that proud look on his face!! I could go on and on about them cause I have many instances that I like, but overall I love the pace at which their relationship progress through the manga, it was well timed and didn’t feel forced at all! Kudos to the mangaka!
What makes me happy about them: Their dynamics, how they’re such great friends and dare I say…That kiss!!!! Omggg I still can’t believe Yona is the one who initiated it and Hak just being like “kdsnfksfns” after that aaaaahh that kiss ended me and all the cute stuff after that!! Alsoo how they’re stuck at some point apart from each other and Hak is like “I can’t lose her” all the time and when they finally reunite he instantly hug her!!! There are sooo many things that I like about them, I just can’t with this couple!!!
What makes me sad about them: Nothing
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I haven’t read any fanfic about them
Things I look for in fanfic: /
My wishlist: everything i wished for was already done in the manga so i have nothing more to ask, i leave it in mangaka’s hand i know they’ll do a great job at surprising me
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: no one, they’re meant for only each other
My happily ever after for them: Same as ship above ↑
 003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:
 Musa (Winx club)
How I feel about this character: She’s soo cool!! I liked her instantly after she showed up, I love her personality and her witty comebacks. In my opinion, she feels more real than the other girls in the sense where all the other winx are “too much” and she’s not so flashy as them which made me like her the most, she’s quite relatable too (she’s the most vulnerable of them all and thus put a strong font to not show it) and her relationship with Riven proves my point cause this couple had their up and downs and depicted the problems a real couple would face due to lack of communication but still caring about each other at the end, compared to Stella and Brandon who were constantly cheesy and never ever fought (please they were 16 at the time of first season and you can’t tell me that they never had any problem at all that’s just…not realistic at all)  Oh and since we’re still talking about my thoughts on her, I think her hairstyle peaked at season 3 she looked soo cute with the long pigtails when I first saw It I was like *gasp* why wasn’t she like that since beginning?? And I’ve always thought that her transformation sequence in season 1 was the best! Also the episode where she goes against Stormy on her own? Poetic cinema!! And possibly my favorite moment of her! (next comes the moment where she saves Galatea and earn her enchantix, that was really cool too!!) Also she has a pretty voice and her backstory with her mom is so sad, it killed me in that moment before they fought Valtor in season 3 where they seeked the stars and they had to give something up (in Musa’s case, she had to give up hugging her mother) to have them and Musa saw her mother and she told her  “I’m proud of you” :’(
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Riven, even though young me didn’t understand their relationship at first and it pissed me off when they fought but now that I rewatch I understand more their fight and where both parts come from, even through all of it they still had their good moments like when the Winx have to leave the specialist to fight Darkar and it’s time for goodbye then Musa says “oh you don’t care anyway” then he hug her and say “Come back to me safe” also at the end of season 2 when they’re having the party and Layla push them to dance with each other it’s cute how he gets flustered, actually he really cares about her it’s just that his way of showing it is a bit clumsy.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Musa x Layla, I love their friendship and how they hit it off well as soon as Layla was introduced
My unpopular opinion about this character: Sometimes she’s a bit too whiny, it’s a bit annoying to watch :/
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Nothing, I think her character was handled well and I have no complaints in that sense
Favorite friendship for this character: Musa x Leyla and Musa x Tecna, I don’t know which of the two I prefer though cause Musa x Tecna have had a strong bond since the beginning of the serie but then Musa x Layla have great chemistry too, and I’m like “I don’t want to pick one so why not both??”
My crossover ship: Musa x Bloom, they’re not really crossover but i kinda like their interactions throughout the serie
Catra (She-ra)
 How I feel about this character: Even though I empathize with her on some points (Shadow weaver treating her like shit and picking Adora over her for her whole life, Adora leaving her must have hurt her too cause her only friend who made it bearable with Shadow weaver left her behind) I can’t condone what she did to Scorpia (of all people this girl really deserved better L)  and everyone else; She is the sole reason why Angela is trapped between portals now and also why Glimmer didn’t have her mother by her side through season 4 and she also sent Entrapta – her friend who was on her side -to beast island without any hesitation then proceeded to even threaten Scorpia after that hence why it really broke my heart the horrified look Scorpia gave her after that and how she fell to her knees realizing that her friend went way too far in her craze for power, also the part where Scorpia sees her video with Entrapta and she misses her which leads her to go Catra and tell her “you’re a bad friend” in regard to everything she’s done so far was really painful to watch, I mean if Catra reached the point where even Scorpia - who has been the most tolerant and accepting person toward her all along – told her those word it means she really crossed the line (And though I know at some point in season 4 she was worried about Scorpia by how she was looking for her, it was too late at that time :/) She was so obsessed with winning and seeing She-ra (Adora) loses that she would rather destroy the world – within herself included - than consider other alternative and from then she only sunk further down till the point where she realized it herself that she messed up when Double Trouble betrayed her then confronted her in that famous scene in season 4.Overall I think she is a very well written character who is complex and full of depth to explore, seeing her performance throughout the show was really satisfying for me all along cause she’s one hell of a villain who’s dangerous and hella smart to boot also I soo can’t wait to see how her redemption arc will be handled and how she will do to make amends with Adora, Scorpia and Entrapta in the end.
 Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Adora is my main romantic ship with her, even though Scorptra Is cute I prefer them on a platonic level
 My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Catra x Scorpia, I so want Catra to apologize wholeheartedly to Scorpia once they reunite and for them to get back their friendship (though I’m aware it might not ever be the same as before cause some actions and words can never be taken back) but most especially I want Catra to stop focusing on Adora for a second to appreciate and thank Scorpia for all what she has done so far for her, she was there for her when everyone turned their back on her after all and it must count for something
 My unpopular opinion about this character: After seeing her new look in season 4, I finally found out what ticked me off about the old one and why I didn’t like it (hint : it was her messy hair, I prefer her last season haircut more cause it’s much neater and she looks better with it also her outfit is better in last season)
 One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I would have liked her to not ditch Scorpia like that everytime Adora appeared in the picture, like in the wasteland where they were having a cute moment together where Scorpia told her “I’ve never seen you so happy, we should stay here and forget about the horde” and Catra even blushed, but then as soon as she heard about Adora being on Wasteland she turned cold and thirsty for victory again it really hurted me to watch Scorpia being trampled over and over again like that L
 Favorite friendship for this character: Catradora (they were so close when they were young then later they drifted away due to person A leaving B for another side – of course the opposite side - cause they didn’t fit in with person B and thus what lead the two to become enemies…hmmm doesn’t that remind you of a ship I mentioned above? So yeah this shit is my fave trope I eat it up everytime it appears in a new fandom)
 My crossover ship: Catra x Glimmer, cause i love their constant back and forth and also their fight was awesome in season 4,i can’t wait to see how they will cooperate to save Ethernia cause they’re its last hope (so if they fail it’s pretty much a doom for everyone which puts a high stake on them)
Thank you soo much for this ask!!! I had lot of fun answering it and it plunged me into fandom i have forgotten for quite some time  (Though it’s not even an ask at this point, it turned into a dissertation xD)

Ramblings about Kousuke
Okay so I’m a little hesitant to do this, since it actually goes into some pretty personal stuff of mine but... I really can’t hold back an outpouring of love for Kousuke if I tried so... Here goes.  (Please note: I do mention some of my own personal mental health stuff here so, if anyone isn’t comfortable with that, please feel free to skip this post. I promise we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled Kousuke pictures and videos very soon, especially as I have content from yesterday’s stream).  Also forgive my flowery way of talking. I’m a writer at my core, and sometimes that really, really shows.
2015 was, as some already know, the year of the very first Engeki Haikyu!! And the start of a certain someone's career on stage.
At this point I hadn't even heard of Haikyu (though, perhaps I had vaguely spotted the manga on our bookshelves at work, but it was a section I rarely paid much attention to), let alone any of the characters and certainly none of actors playing them on stage.
Within the space of two years however, things would change very rapidly and, eventually lead me in that oddly destined way that life seems to unfold for me, to that one certain actor, Asuma Kousuke.
Fast forward just a little, to early 2016. After a difficult year previously (and some of my lowest lows yet), I was finally on good tracks again.  I was in a good place. And apparently, I was ready to embrace a brand-new obsession.
Anime and manga.
I hadn't intended to fall quite so face first, but I guess we all know what that's like.
I remember, very distinctly seeing a video pop up on my timeline on twitter. Pretty sure most people have seen it. That one where all the members of Engeki Haikyu come up to the camera, in character and say a few things and generally play around. Yeah, that one. I saw that and, though I didn’t even really know Haikyu very well yet, I knew vaguely enough to know where they were from. And I got /that/ feeling. I often talk about fate and destiny and for the most part I probably sound pretty silly, but my instincts are usually right. I remember thinking, ‘… one of you is going to end up being very important. I don’t know which one, and I don’t know in what way. But one of you. Definitely.’
That was the very first time I saw Kousuke. And at that point, I had no idea how right that thought of mine would end up being. Especially since at that point I didn’t even know the name Oikawa Tohru, let alone knowing Asuma Kousuke. But… The wheels were in motion, even then.
By the end of 2016 I’d fully gotten into Haikyu. I was still wavering on my favourite character at that point, but leaning more and more towards Nishinoya (who in the end has stuck as my favourite, not that I think many people know that!), but the series itself in general had utterly won my heart. Yet, still, apart from the brief glimpses of images and clips I still knew very little about the stage play. Occasionally I’d see a gif or picture and marvel at how perfect everyone looked and how well they captured the characters but mostly I was just interested in the anime.
Then Kuroko no Basuke happened. And… That series would need a whole piece of writing for itself... For reasons I won’t go into here.  But this is when I saw images of the Kuroko no Basuke stage play. And this is where I caught my first sight of the person who was due to really set everything in motion. Kuroba Mario. Instantly blown away by how incredibly perfectly Mario depicted my golden boy Kise. I started looking into the stage and realised the production wasn’t far enough in to feature Akashi yet. For now, I still looked at the stage plays as something else that went on, but I didn’t really get involved in.
But it was only a couple of months before this would all change.
In that wonderfully complicated way that life likes to move in, I ended up making friends with someone who was a big fan of Mario. And, since they were a fan of both Kise and Oikawa, I ended seeing a little more of Kousuke too.
And then, quite suddenly I found myself looking more and more into Mario, and realising that actually, yes, I did adore him quite a lot. I also presented Kousuke to my dearest Mei, knowing that Oikawa is her favourite from Haikyu (well… Him and Hinata. So obviously once we got going Kenta would become pretty prominent, but we had a little way to go before that yet.)
Yep. The truth that I think Mei thinks I forget. I did originally present Kousuke to her as ‘her boy’. But me being the natural researcher and ever one to keep digging once I get interested in something, it didn’t take long before I was coming back like ‘uhhh…… so….?? Share?’ I’m lucky that she is much, much better at sharing than I am.
Within days both Mario and Kousuke were popping up everywhere I could possibly talk about them. My phone slowly filling up with images and gifs. First of them as Kise and Oikawa, and then slowly branching into other roles, and then of them themselves. Mario had charmed me completely. But I hadn’t quite realised how much impact Kousuke was having until about two weeks in. Incidentally it was my birthday that I decided I’d finally go tracking down the boys social media pages. It was still Mario I followed first on both Instagram and twitter, but Kousuke was immediately after that. What I hadn’t counted on was a sudden relapse of something I hadn’t had to think of for a while.
That bad year I mentioned in 2015? That was when my anxiety and OCD was at it’s peak. That was the year I let things get so bad, but that I was finally able to recognise that I needed help and, thankful to say, I got it. It was tough, but it was worth it to get the other side of it. I’d been free from those kinds of thinking, for the most part ever since I’d gotten into anime and manga. The odd spike thanks to Attack on Titan (…. Worst series to be into when you have anxiety disorder + a favourite character right?), but mostly I’d been good. Maybe focusing on anime characters was easier than focusing on real people. I guess it was.
It was while I was quite happily scrolling through Kousuke’s twitter account (mostly with the help of google translate, my Japanese was extremely limited at that point), that it happened.
It’s hard to explain, as I guess most things are when it comes to matters dealing with how a mind works, but I remember that cold feeling creeping up on me. An old kind of fear that I’d used to live with constantly. And with it, the cogs in my brain working overdrive. A panic, realising this was a resurgence of something that had trapped me so long. My brain terrified of something, and it hurriedly trying to come up with ways to prevent it. I can’t speak more specifically because, even if at the time my brain thought it had something specific to fear, it usually is more abstract than that. Awful timing to happen on my birthday, huh? But. This time, I had the tools to deal with it. And, while it was scary, I was able to breathe and calm down and not let these intrusive thoughts take over. Within a couple of hours I was smiling, and kinda laughing a little. In a way it was my brain’s way of telling me THIS BOY!! VERY IMPORTANT!! MUST PROTECT!! So. I guessed there was no point denying how very much Kousuke had taken over my world by then. So I accepted it, with ever gaining relish.
Now I often and quite happily declare Kousuke to be one of the very best things to have happened to me. One of my most prized possessions is my copy of his photobook, which my dearest Mei bought me for Christmas. It’s precious to me for many reasons. But mostly because it’s one item I can constantly count on to help manage my anxiety. It’s partly the distraction of focusing on something else, partly Kousuke’s smiling face and partly… Just that particular warm feeling I get from Kousuke. If things seem difficult to deal with, or I notice a spike in my anxiety, by the time I’ve made my way through Pop Step Jump I’m a little calmer. And feeling a little bit stronger.
Kousuke makes me so happy, and I recognise and am so grateful for everything he does for his fans. I’m proud to be part of his fanbase, even if I can’t properly communicate with all of them (I promise, I’m learning as fast as I can!) Kousuke has one of the nicest, warmest and sweetest fanbases I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. You guys are so lovely. And I can’t thank you enough for how unendingly sweet you are to Kousuke. As someone who’s been in too many fanbases that like to tear their own idols to pieces, this is the most heart-warming place to be. My learning of Japanese has picked up at least tenfold since I started following him. From my stubbornness at still watching videos and interviews without subtitles, and of course Kousuke’s many live streams, I’ve found my understanding growing, even if it’s not exactly perfect. I’ve become bolder in my replies to Kousuke on twitter at including Japanese as well as English. I like to think he sees my improvement over time. From someone who could just about type ‘おはよう’ and ‘おやすみ’ to some basic sentences, I also like to think any mistakes I do make will make him smile as he sees me trying my best.
I won’t say my anxiety never picks up again. I especially get concerned about missing live streams to the point I think I’ve accidentally made myself ill on occasion. This may sound selfish of me, but this is my inferiority complex at work, and the fear of not doing enough. Please be assured, the standards I set for myself are in no way standards I place on anyone else. I only EVER expect these things from myself, no one else. In fact, I’ll probably think you better than me no matter what. I always want to do as much as humanly possible for Kousuke. That’s probably the only way my anxiety manifests with Kousuke, which, if you’d known me in years past, is actually pretty impressive.
It’s hard to sum up when I’ve already said so much, and yet so much still feels unsaid. I hope I’ve gotten across at least some of the love and adoration I have for Kousuke. Of how he came into my life, and made it better. How he’s made me stronger and happier in many ways. And how I hope to keep on supporting him, the best ways I know how to. I truly, truly hope I get to thank him in person one day (even if there’s no way I could possibly convey it all, but that’s okay).
 大好き遊馬くん, ありがとうございます。
And thank you anyone who took the time to read this. ♥ Back to your regularly scheduled posts very soon! - Aka.

Slipping Underneath [Ch. 5]
Pairings: Kuroo Tetsurou/Tsukishima Kei
Summary: Tsukishima was in some deep shit he realized, but common sense told him he should have been rather happy about the discovery he’d just made. Of course, that didn’t stop him from freaking out.
“Tsukki? Did something happen?” Bokuto asked.
Dejected, the blond lifted his head, giving Bokuto the flattest stare he could manage. “The neighbor downstairs hates my voice.”
Rating: T
Tags: soulmates, mythology/sirens AU, some iwaoi and bokuaka thrown in bc why not, first meetings, fluff, Kuroo is a nerd and Tsukki can’t help but be charmed, Siren!Tsukki, Siren!Bokuto
Note: Hello! Thanks for your patience, those of you who have to deal with my terrible update schedule lol. We’re so close to the end here honestly...I’m really excited for the next chapter lmao I just hope I find time to write it ^^’’ I am taking 20 units this quarter at uni so I apologize for the slowness. My main goal is to finish this up within the month or so, and then my focus can be entirely on Let My Love! So wish me luck, and enjoy this update! <3
AO3
The more and more Oikawa pestered Kuroo about his 'plan' the less Kuroo was interested. From the get go, he hadn't exactly been enthused about the little siren experiment anyways. Even Kuroo, someone who believed in cryptids and vampires and the like, couldn't fathom his boyfriend being some bloodthirsty creature from the deep.
Still he knew he'd eventually be forced into carrying out the plan, if only to eliminate the possibility. If it could even be called that.
Sirens. When was the last time there had been a siren sighting? A siren experience? Never. Not once in the last hundred years. Kuroo had checked, much to his embarrassment. He'd scrolled through message boards and chat threads for hours, yet the most he could find were a few interesting fanfictions and art depicting mermaid type creatures. All women. All not real.
He was being ridiculous, taking things too far. So what if it was sort of weird how guys crowded Tsukishima?
Kuroo's boyfriend was amazing, and gorgeous. Kuroo got his fair share of confessions himself. He was probably just too new to this whole jealousy thing, too new to the relationship thing altogether. But that was okay. He and Tsukishima were figuring it out, and they were having a great time along the way.
Screw Oikawa and his persistence.
Oikawa was just bored, needed a break from school and wedding planning, and probably thought the whole thing was one big joke. Kuroo thought ignoring him would be simple, and eventually the brunet would grow bored with this idea too, letting it fade into the background.
So far, that hadn't happened yet.
"Hey, so when are we going to do this?"
"Hey, Tsukishima has Tuesday afternoons off right? What about we test him then?"
"If he is a siren, do you think he'll eat us? Do sirens eat people?"
Kuroo's phone was busy with texts and phone calls, all from Oikawa. Even when he put his phone on silent, he felt like he could still feel each notification, lighting up from across the room. So much for studying.
Kuroo planted his face into his textbook as he saw his phone glow on the coffee table in front of him. The apartment remained silent apart from the groan he let loose into the cold air. With finals approaching, the campus communities had gotten quieter, less lively. In the distance, Kuroo could hear dulled music from a party, but otherwise, all was still. The formulas in his book looked tiny and unreadable, his mind too frenzied to really give them the attention they deserved. Not like he really needed to. He'd aced this chapter, as he usually did. He was only reviewing it to stay sharp.
Oikawa was gone this weekend, traveling to Iwaizumi's dorm for once to torture a different roommate, but he obviously had the time to bug the fuck out of Kuroo. Chucking his textbook across the couch, Kuroo snatched up his phone, reading the messages with disinterest.
Oikawa Tooru: Iwa-chan is in
Oikawa Tooru: by in I mean he got tired of telling me no
Oikawa Tooru: this plan is gold Kuroo!! when are we going to test it??
Kuroo snorted as he read through the various complaints which came after. Apparently, Kuroo was afraid of the 'unknown' or something. What the fuck. Kuroo Tetsurou, afraid of the unknown? Afraid of a challenge? He'd once attempted to eat eight saltines in less than a minute, ignoring the chance of choking. In his hubris, he'd nearly passed out from lack of air. Did that sound like someone who was afraid of anything? Not to mention, he'd once dragged the brunet into camping with him for two nights in search of bigfoot when they'd studied abroad in America. The unknown was Kuroo Tetsurou's bitch.
Typing out a series of refusals to Oikawa's demands, Kuroo felt another chill run through him, and he instinctively rolled into a ball on the couch. It'd been cold all night, but he'd been too stubborn to blast the heater, instead choosing to pile on blankets. Now though, nothing seemed good enough. He needed real heat, real comfort.
And there's a surefire way to get it...
Kuroo's eyes twinkled as he glanced up to the ceiling, hearing nothing. Good. That meant Tsukishima's roommate wasn't home. Kuroo hadn't met Bokuto Koutarou quite yet, but from what Tsukishima told him, he sounded like a lot of fun. Fun, but with loud footsteps. Kuroo always knew when Tsukishima was alone as a result. Perfect.
Now, he knew that technically, Tsukishima was busy writing a paper, but well...It had been a few hours since he'd last heard from his boyfriend. The blond deserved a break, and a healthy dose of Kuroo.
Pocketing his phone, Kuroo might as well have skipped onto the balcony, ready to make his climb. Tsukishima would scold him for being so reckless (and yeah okay, maybe he should've just taken the elevator), but the power of love couldn't be stopped. Besides, it was nostalgic now. This was how they'd met.
Kuroo ignored the voice in the back of his head which chose to latch onto more specific details. Right, when you'd climbed up to make him stop his horrid singing, singing which apparently only sounds that way to you. Because you're weird.
Kuroo shook his head, lifting himself with minimal effort until he was standing amongst all of Tsukishima's potted plants. A few looked like they were having a tough time, given the weather, but Tsukishima's meticulous care never wavered. They'd survive the cold.
Kuroo smiled fondly at the various shears and trowels littered about, along with the empty packets of seeds which Kuroo had gifted his boyfriend.
Looking forward, the orange glow of the lights already made him feel warmer. Or maybe it was just the person illuminated by them, Kuroo couldn't tell anymore.
He watched fondly as Tsukishima yawned, his slender fingers stilling in the midst of their furious typing. The blond had an oversized quilt flung around his shoulders, and he wore his designated 'comfy' sweatpants, old food stains and all.
Kuroo felt his heart lurch at the tired lines on his boyfriend's face, the instant need to pull him close overpowering him. Not bothering to knock, Kuroo pulled the sliding glass door open, pleased to find it unlocked.
It wasn't everyday he got the drop on his boyfriend, so he savored the 3.5 seconds of shock which flitted across his face before it turned into something less amused. "I'm writing a paper you know..."
Regardless, Tsukishima shut his computer almost instantly, a clear hint he'd had just about enough of academic jargon and citations.
"Well as you know, it's cold and I need warmth, so I win," Kuroo said, grinning as he plopped himself onto the couch. The old frame creaked under his weight, his body sinking into the cushions which desperately needed vacuuming. He heard Tsukishima scoff above him, and it only made his comfort skyrocket. Kuroo wrapped his arms around his boyfriend's waist, pulling him closer. Tsukishima wasn't exactly a human heater, since the blond suffered from the cold easier than most, but the added heat and softness made Kuroo sigh. They'd had breakfast just that morning together, but it really had been too long.
Tsukishima swallowed a laugh when Kuroo nuzzled his stomach, and Kuroo savored the moment for as long as he could before his self-control gave out, and he looked up. Tsukishima looked a lot more tired up close.
Kuroo blinked up at him, and Tsukishima's brow furrowed. "What?"
Kuroo shrugged, his hand coming up to trace the deep bags underneath his boyfriend's eyes. Tsukishima's chapped lips parted from the suddenness, but he stayed put, watching Kuroo think. The dry skin beneath Kuroo's fingers worried him. He wondered when his boyfriend had actually thought to take a shower or rest. "You study too much, you're gonna faint one of these days if you don't watch it..."
He spoke the truth too. Once Tsukishima sat down and set his mind to some sort of assignment, he didn't stop until it was done. Kuroo had learned this over the past few weeks, mostly because he realized he possessed a unique gift.
He could actually pull Tsukishima away from his work without much of a fight, and he took advantage of it whenever he thought his blond got too close to overdoing it.
Tsukishima laughed, lightly swatting Kuroo's hand away. "I won't."
Kuroo arched a brow, swatting Tsukishima back. He couldn't help but think that even looking near zombie level tired, the blond looked adorable. "How can you be so sure?"
He walked into a trap, he knew it, but it wasn't like he really tried hard to avoid it.
"I have a certain burglar who checks in on me frequently," Tsukishima said, his smile betraying the attempt at a jab. The hands curling gently in Kuroo's hair also served as an unfair distraction, Kuroo's number one weakness. Tsukishima's hands were magic, and the raven leaned into the touch gratefully. "He has no qualms about trespassing, so I'm sure he'll be around to nag me to sleep."
Little shit.
"You're the one who leaves the door unlocked!"
"Yeah, the patio door. The top floor patio door. That's not an invitation," Tsukishima insisted, but his smile hadn't wavered, and Kuroo had done his job. Already, the blond looked way more relaxed than before. The tenseness disappeared from his shoulders, and he'd begun sinking into the cushions of the couch, Kuroo's head in his lap. Perfect conditions.
Subtly, Kuroo pushed Tsukishima's cursed laptop farther away until it was out of sight. Couldn't risk the blond remembering his paper and trying to work on it for another three hours. He had a few days before it'd be due, plenty of time to finish.
Kuroo was set to turn in for the rest of the night, maybe take advantage of Bokuto's absence, but then he saw the expensive headphones which were connected to Tsukishima's laptop, and his mind flooded with the one topic he'd constantly pushed away. Music.
Kuroo's eyes roamed over the coffee table, noting the iPod touch sitting on it. Tsukishima hated carrying his music on his phone, especially due to storage. He had close to a thousand songs on there already, and the number was sure to grow. Kuroo felt something in his brain itch, a horrid scratch he couldn't ignore any longer. Not when it surrounded him.
Tsukishima loved music, loved singing. The evidence was everywhere. From the album posters on the wall, to the fact that whenever Kuroo turned on the small television it was on a music channel, or hooked up to Spotify. Tsukishima owned a record player, a birthday gift, and had his favorite albums pressed onto vinyl. There was a music note keychain hanging from his backpack, he had two pairs of in-ear headphones alongside his expensive ones.
When they were in Kuroo's car, the first thing the blond did was tune the radio to his preferred channel, pointing out when a song was new or when he liked a certain artist. His leg would bounce as he fought not to sing along, and he probably thought Kuroo didn't notice. But Kuroo did. Kuroo noticed everything.
Everyone thought Tsukishima's god given talent was singing, and all evidence lead to that being fairly accurate. No matter who Kuroo talked to, they thought his boyfriend's voice was lovely. So why didn't he?
Why did Tsukishima have to fight other guys off with a stick? Why didn't he indulge himself in his singing, no matter how terrible, around Kuroo? Surely, they were on that level now where he shouldn't care or be embarrassed. Before, the blond had insisted it was a privacy thing, something he preferred to do without an audience, but Kuroo grew less and less sure over time.
"Tetsu, are you alive up there?" Tsukishima said, tapping Kuroo's forehead gently with his index finger. The itch was unbearable now, his mind latching onto the question he so desperately needed the answer to. Tsukishima's soft, loving tone was the last straw. The words delighted his ears, made him melt, and yeah he probably loved Tsukishima if something as simple as his voice could do something like that too him. But then again, maybe his voice wasn't simple in the slightest.
"Sing for me," Kuroo whispered, almost against his will. His breath caught as the last syllable left his mouth, but goddammit, he was sticking with this. Kuroo blinked, watching as Tsukishima's face morphed from calm, to surprised, to something Kuroo could only describe as troubled. He'd never seen that expression before. He didn't like it.
"What...what are you talking about?" Tsukishima fumbled with his words, his hand leaving Kuroo's hair as he crossed his arms. "No way, that's embarrassing."
Something in Kuroo's stomach twisted, a weird foreboding creeping through his veins. Still, he put on an easy grin, a joking tone. "Aw c'mon, I sing all the time while we're in the car..."
Tsukishima didn't crack a smile. "I don't like singing in front of people, I told you already. I can put on some music if--"
"Why not? It's just us, I don't care," Kuroo insisted, and he knew at this point, he was pushing. He had to stop. But that feeling in his heart kept growing, the feeling that Tsukishima was hiding from him. Why? "I wanna hear your voice."
Tsukishima just stared at him, expression unreadable, until his next words trickled out of his mouth cautiously, carefully.
"You hate my singing, and I'm talking to you right now," Tsukishima said with a frustrated sigh. "Isn't that enough?"
"But you love singing, don't you," Kuroo said, more a statement than anything. Tsukishima bit his lip, the chapped skin cracking.
"Love is a strong word," he mumbled, staring at his hands. Kuroo kicked himself, but he couldn't reel himself in. He hadn't realized how upset this had been making him, how confused. He was being a dick now, but--
"You do. So why won't you sing?" He asked, trying to tack on a forced laugh so he could at least try to keep up the lighthearted mood he was pretending to be in.
Something in Tsukishima's expression snapped. The blond glared, one of those cold, icy ones which would stop anyone in their tracks. "Why won't you drop it? I told you I don't want to, I just get shy. Why are you being so insistent about it?"
And like that, Kuroo's stupid drive for the truth shattered into pieces. Tsukishima's eyes were bright with a weird mix of confusion and anger, his words too frenzied for his usually calm nature. It was Kuroo's fault.
What are you doing man?
He sighed loudly, wishing he could bang his head against the wall, but he figured that would solve nothing in the long run.
He'd let himself get carried away, and he knew better. Tsukishima kept looking anywhere but him, and the warmth from before had faded away. Now there was nothing, just a staleness he wanted to escape as soon as he could. He never should've forced anything on Tsukishima, they'd had this conversation before. He respected the blond's choice to not sing, no matter how bizarre it was.
Kuroo cared about Tsukishima, trusted him. Even if he was hiding something, Kuroo had to be careful about solving the mystery. He knew he wouldn't be able to help it, wouldn't be able to stay away. It was just who he was. Curious, determined. But he refused to lose Tsukishima along the way.
Plus, he was a man of science. Things had to be tested to achieve any level of truth.
No more bulldozing. No more hurting his blond, all Kuroo wanted to do was curl up next to him, and rest.
The strained silence between them wasn't what Kuroo wanted, and tentatively, he reached forward, uncrossing Tsukishima's arms gently. He hated when he did that around him, that wasn't how they were supposed to be. Tsukishima let it happen easily, his face softening in a rare show of guilt, and yeah, Kuroo felt twice as shitty.
But he could fix this, for now at least.
Kuroo placed his hand on Tsukishima's knee, not wanting to overstep too soon. "Hey, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done...whatever that was," he laughed, wincing at the sound a second later. "I was being a dick, alright? I don't care if you sing or not I just...I know you love it so much, I started feeling like you were forcing yourself not to around me. So I got sort of...upset, because I want you to be comfortable and--"
"Tetsurou, I am...comfortable," Tsukishima said, his voice hesitating at the blatant admission. The tops of his cheeks were flushed pink, but the glare still burned Kuroo's skin. Mostly because part of his reasoning was a lie. But he couldn't just come out and say 'sorry, my friend thinks you're a siren, and I'm starting to think so too' could he? He didn't like lying to Tsukishima, but...holy fuck this situation was so weird. If Oikawa was wrong, which he probably was, Kuroo was going to feel like the world's biggest idiot.
"But--"
"I'm more comfortable with you than I've ever felt with anyone, so shut up," Tsukishima insisted, quickly, and all the honesty looked like it was physically hurting him. But Tsukishima was trying, was doing this for Kuroo.
God, I'm the worst.
"And yeah whatever, I like to sing but I just don't like to around people," Tsukishima said with a sigh. Kuroo scolded himself when he had to stop himself from asking why. It wasn't important right then. "It's not just a you thing. My parents, my friends, I hate having an audience, that's all. It's not because I'm not close to you, because..."
And, in an attempt to murder Kuroo on the spot, Tsukishima leaned forward, pecking Kuroo on the lips in the blink of an eye.
"...obviously that's not true," Tsukshima finished, quietly, and he didn't leave Kuroo much of a choice. He leaned forward, seizing Tsukishima's lips again, kisses only broken my muttered apologies and the eventual laughter as the tension faded, forgotten.
In the morning, Kuroo felt refreshed and light, with an underlying current of resolve rushing through his veins. As much as he loved Tsukishima, last night had only confirmed his suspicions. Something bigger was going on, and he had to know.
He left Tsukishima's apartment, happy and as lovesick as ever, kissing the blond goodbye before returning to his own home.
Oikawa must've returned at some point earlier in the morning, because he sat at the table, munching on some toast while he flipped through cake catalogues. When Kuroo walked into the room from the balcony, Oikawa's face twisted in confusion, but Kuroo didn't give him the chance to speak.
"So, what's your plan?"
--
This was not going to fucking work.
"I changed my mind, I wanna go home," Kuroo deadpanned as he watched Oikawa crouch beneath a few bushes. There's a bench ten feet from us...
Iwaizumi looked perhaps even less hopeful than Kuroo did, but his eyes still shone with the slightest fondness as he watched his boyfriend execute his painfully stupid plan. Iwaizumi probably wasn't new to any of the brunet's antics, in fact he probably found them endearing.
Can't relate.
That was just how love worked though, Kuroo guessed. He ignored the guilt that stabbed his chest.
"There's no going back now," Oikawa whispered, making them look more suspicious than need be. Seriously, they could just sit...
The greenhouse sat across the cobblestone path in front of them. They were hidden, but had a fairly good view of anyone coming in and out of the greenhouse. Not like that helped them any, what could they tell just from looking on the outside? This whole plan was amateurish at best.
"How are we supposed to get proof anyways?" Iwaizumi chimed in, his brow furrowed in confusion. The scribbles in Oikawa's notebook had offered no clarity whatsoever. "If he really is a siren, won't I just be hypnotized? Or something..."
Iwaizumi blushed at the fact he was actually hypothesizing. Oikawa's influence always meant trouble for everyone...
"That's why you're going to record everything on your phone!" Oikawa practically vibrated with excitement, and Kuroo liked this idea less and less. "Once we see Tsukishima walk into the greenhouse, you'll turn on your camera and put it in your front pocket!"
Looking down, Iwaizumi indeed noticed the two front pockets on his jacket. He shot an unimpressed look at his boyfriend, and yeah, now he looked how Kuroo felt. "Is this why you made such a fuss about picking out my clothes this morning?"
Oikawa shrugged, his face bright and his smile positively infuriating. "Aw babe, don't say it like that! I also bought that for you, ya know. And look! We're matching!" Oikawa gestured to his navy blue sweater, a nice compliment to the jean jacket and navy sweater Iwaizumi wore, and Kuroo wanted to barf.
"Okay and then what?" Kuroo asked, pushing his hair back in frustration. He hated this idea so far, or maybe he hated the guilt laced behind it. Was he really this desperate? So desperate, he was going to spy on his boyfriend just for some farfetched theory?
He honestly didn't know anymore, the questions bouncing around his head making him sick. This was ridiculous. He should've just asked Tsukishima straight out about the siren thing, no matter how stupid he might sound.
But Kuroo couldn't dwell on his failed communication skills, he couldn't turn back either. Something about seeing Iwaizumi setting up the camera made Kuroo want to see things through. He'd pushed this far already, he'd have to suffer the consequences if he got caught.
"Well duh, Iwaizumi will hear him sing, fall under the spell, and...well...I don't actually know what happens after that," Oikawa said, his face stony from thinking. "Or if it happens like that at all...that's why this'll be interesting!"
You're so sure you'll be right...
What did Oikawa know? Kicking at the dirt, Kuroo scoffed. "Hope so. You're sure comfortable with sending your boyfriend out to be seduced, must be worth it..."
Okay so maybe Kuroo was simply being pissy at this point, but he did feel a great deal of satisfaction from the way Oikawa's hands tightened in the fabric of Iwaizumi's shirt, his face twisted into a grimace. Kuroo hated the thought too, despised the idea of anyone hitting on his blond, fake or not.
He just wanted Oikawa to share some of his frustration, even if only a little. In this situation, being an observer simply didn't feel fair.
Kuroo tried not to remember all the guys he'd seen coming onto Tsukishima, lest he imagine Iwaizumi in their place. Iwaizumi was just lucky Kuroo liked him. Not that Kuroo would get out of that fight scratch free if they weren't friends, since Iwaizumi was fucking ripped, but like hell would Kuroo go down easy.
"It's for...science so it--it's fine," Oikawa hissed, and Iwaizumi's hands immediately covered Oikawa's trembling ones. They always did this weird thing, where it was as if they could communicate without speaking. Iwaizumi would look deep into Oikawa's eyes, and a natural dialogue started, the product of years of built up trust and devotion. It was too intimate for Kuroo to stand for too long, especially with how shitty he felt, so he turned away to let them have their moment.
As Oikawa made sure to make the phone less visible, Kuroo noticed a certain blond enter the greenhouse across the road, and the reality of the situation finally sank in his stomach like a heavy stone.
No going back now.
--
Stepping into the greenhouse had become less of an escape for Tsukishima, and more of an instant relief. As he crossed the threshold onto the soil stained floor, he shut the door lightning fast, his vocal chords practically begging for release of some kind.
The urge left him powerless, the pull inescapable. The strength to resist diminished more with each passing day with Kuroo, every stupid text sent during lectures, every lazy day spent in Tsukishima's bed. Part of it continued to unnerve Tsukishima. How had it gotten like this? But like his resistance against the notes wanting to flow from his soul, the need to care about that also began to lessen drastically. Perhaps Bokuto had been right all along.
A singing siren is a happy siren.
Tsukishima scoffed at his own silly thoughts, focusing on his work. Of course, that didn't stop the music.
It started as humming usually, a slow, melodic buzzing which carried through the large space and eased the tension in his shoulders. Then, as he busied himself with his tasks, it grew louder and louder, eventually turning into lyrics which echoed off the walls. Like a mini concert hall, the acoustics adored Tsukishima's voice, and he couldn't bring himself to stop.
He liked to think it benefited the plants too, or at least, that had been his poor excuse given to Bokuto the other day.
Either way, Tsukishima felt light as air, and his voice only grew in liveliness as he worked.
Well, until something in the air shifted, and a door slammed behind him. His notes halted, cut off unnaturally and falling like shards in the air. It made Tsukishima cringe, the interruption making his skin crawl before he'd even fully registered it.
He really did hate having an audience.
Watering can half full, Tsukishima turned and glared at his unwelcome visitor. He cursed himself for not locking the door behind him, but the thought got cut short by the sheer strangeness of this situation.
This guy...wasn't coming up to him. Yet, Tsukishima could tell he'd been affected. The other's intense grey eyes were wet and dazed, almost empty of all emotion other than the usual lust. No doubt about it, he'd heard Tsukishima sing. Not good. Tsukishima's voice had been a forced to be reckoned with lately. It would take a while for this guy to snap out of it.
He looks familiar...
Something about the spiked hair and tan skin picked at Tsukishima's brain, but he couldn't figure it out. Shaking the thought away, Tsukishima put the can down, walking slowly towards the other. It at least got a reaction.
"Why'd you stop singing? I liked your singing..." The other said, his voice near a sigh. It was the same, annoying dreamy voice which guys always used on him. It was only cute when Kuroo did it. Still, there was no 'you're so pretty' or 'I'll do anything for you' thrown in, which was...different. Usually dudes wouldn't shut up. They'd pester the hell out of Tsukishima, flirting and begging and whatever else they thought would work.
This guy just stood there blinking.
I wonder...
"Yeah I'm sure, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave now," Tsukishima said, keeping his voice calm. Anger didn't exactly make the spell break faster.
The stranger's brow furrowed. "But...then I can't hear you sing. I want to hear you sing. I mean it..."
"No, you don't," Tsukishima sighed. "Listen..."
"I'll...do anything..."
Ah, there it was, if not a little more strained than usual. This guy was a fighter. Tsukishima squinted, crossing his arms. "You really don't mean that. You'll only regret it later. Don't you have a girlfriend or something?"
"Boyfriend," the other answered easily. Yeah, that explained it. It was harder to enchant those who were already in love with someone else, though not by much. All Tsukishima would have to do to break that resistance would be singing again with a bit more purpose. Then he could make this poor soul do anything he wanted, fall head over heels for him. Of course, he felt no need to do that. Tsukishima didn't need someone else's boyfriend, he had his own. Plus, now that he did have one, he had to respect the stranger's deep-rooted loyalty. Even under a siren song, he still clung to whatever he could of his partner.
Tsukishima massaged his temples, wondering how it always came to this. All he'd wanted to do was tend to the greenhouse, but no.
"You really do need to leave then. I'm not going to sing for you," he said, frustrated. He just wanted this to be over. "I'm not--"
"Why not? Did I do something wrong?"
"No, you--"
"Is it because of the camera?"
Tsukishima froze, his gaze locking on the desperate look in the other's eyes. Something cold ran through Tsukishima's veins, a piercing fear, like fast acting poison. No...
No, he didn't hear right.
Tsukishima throat suddenly felt dry as Bokuto's face flashed in his mind, along with all the other fellow sirens he'd grown up with. His community, his existence. All of it, potentially at risk. It had to be a mistake...
"What camera?" He asked slowly, trying to keep his voice from cracking. All the while his mind raced with questions. How had he been found out? Was he being watched? Were there more people outside? Was Bokuto okay?
"This one," the other said, like it was nothing, pulling out his phone from his coat pocket. Delicately, Tsukishima took it, eyes wide. Sure enough, the camera app was open, recording the whole interaction. "Kuroo and Oikawa wanted to spy on you, since guys are always hitting on you--"
Something in Tsukishima snapped.
Kuroo and Oikawa.
The same chill ran through him again, but it was less fearful now, angrier.
Suddenly, the dots connected themselves. He knew this guy had looked familiar. Iwaizumi Hajime was a name which came up quite a lot in his conversations with Kuroo. This was Oikawa's boyfriend. Tsukishima had seen pictures of him in frames around Kuroo's apartment.
All three of them were working together. How cute.
"What?" He asked, feeling like he could spit venom. The hand around the phone was so tight, he felt he might snap it in half. The anger already started to boil inside him, but he willed himself to stay calm, to wait for an explanation, no matter how upset he already was. "But why..."
"Kuroo was suspicious. But not me, it wasn't me I promise," Iwaizumi pleaded, probably still too far gone and eager to please Tsukishima.
But Tsukishima didn't care anymore. He could only focus on the large grip around his heart, squeezing it until it burst.
With shaking hands, he deleted the video.
--
It didn't take long for Kuroo to realize the plan had failed.
A few pacing fueled minutes had passed since Iwaizumi had gone into the greenhouse, and Kuroo thought the wait would never end. Now though, he began to think it came too quickly.
The door to the greenhouse slammed open, letting out a very pissed off Tsukishima. The blond's eyes scanned the whole area, seething, his eyes ablaze. In his hand sat Iwaizumi's phone. Shit.
Behind Tsukishima, Iwaizumi trailed out slowly, hand on his head and a dazed look on his face.
Kuroo hardly paid him any mind though, his only concern was--
"Hey," Tsukishima hissed, his shoulders shaking as he stomped up to Kuroo's hiding place. Oikawa watched in concern for only a fleeting moment, gaze flashing with guilt and confusion before he ran off to talk with Iwaizumi. Kuroo didn't hold it against him, after all, Kuroo had to deal with this on his own.
A phone flew at his chest, and he just barely caught it. Yeah, he deserved that. He deserved everything he was about to hear. He wouldn't try to defend himself right away. Like a stupid kid, he shrunk in on himself, but kept his eyes on his boyfriend. That was the least he could fucking do.
"Don't bother looking at it, I deleted the video," Tsukishima said, voice a disturbing level of calm. But Kuroo knew better. He heard the shaky breaths and fluctuations. Fuck, he was absolute shit. "What the hell Kuroo? Is this some kind of joke?"
Kuroo would've loved if it had been just that. Then he could play this off as nothing more than a prank. Something told him Tsukishima already knew though, the hurt in his voice said enough. And well, Kuroo wasn't a liar at heart.
"No, I...I'm just an idiot, I let Oikawa convince me to spy on you and--"
Tsukishima laughed, the sound humorless and biting. "So now you're blaming your friends?"
"What? No! No. You're right," Kuroo said, dropping his hands. "It's all my fault, all of it. I'm sorry. I got suspicious and--"
"Suspicious. Suspicious of what exactly?"
Kuroo froze, words caught in his throat. He tried to step forward, because part of him ached to have Tsukishima in his arms despite the mess he'd made, but the blond deliberately stepped away.
Well damn, how did Kuroo come out and say the real reasons behind this? I thought you were a siren because I'm being a delusional bastard, but obviously I was wrong. Yeah, that would go over well with his pissed off boyfriend.
He didn't get a chance to say anything though, much less a new excuse, because Tsukishima had his own ideas in his head, and Kuroo's silence hadn't helped one bit.
"You really thought I would cheat on you so easily huh? I get hit on a few times and suddenly it's my fault, I was just gonna jump at any guy you sent my way?" Tsukishima said, and the emptiness there had Kuroo's blood running cold. Kuroo really had betrayed him, and his tone dripped with the raw emotion. Kuroo never wanted to be the cause of it again.
Space and caution be damned, Kuroo grabbed Tsukishima by the shoulders, panic setting in. "That's not true at all! I promise it's not, this--this isn't what I wanted!"
"Don't touch me!" Tsukishima ignored Kuroo's sputtering protests and started to move away, shaking off Kuroo's grip, and with each step, the distance made Kuroo want to vomit. He didn't want to lose Tsukishima, that's what he'd told himself huh? What a joke.
Kuroo chased after him for only a few steps, uselessly pleading. "Tsukki! Kei, please, you don't understand, let me--"
Tsukishima spun around, and the message came across loud and clear. Fuck. Off. "All I understand is that you don't trust me. But thanks for letting me know." Tsukishima's voice finally cracked on the last syllable, and Kuroo felt his stomach drop.
With that, Tsukishima wretched away completely from Kuroo's reach, storming off and out of Kuroo's sight.
All the while, Kuroo just stood there, feeling the warmth flood out of him.

THURSDAY
4:00 PM
"TANAKA AND NOYA, KEEP IT DOWN!" Daichi yelled, his head turned to the back of the bus where a mixture of wild and feral first year and second year volleyball players sat. He turned back and sank into his seat in the first row of the bus where he was sat with the rest of his first years players who were seated across you and Shimizu. The scolding Daichi gave his team was very much effective however, all hell breaks loose once more as the bus stops for a toilet break in a gas station and everyone chaotically raced to get off the bus. You didn't need the toilet so you stayed back and remained seated.
You felt your pocket vibrate and you mentally squealed with glee. You rushed to pull your phone out and read the message sent to you.
Oikawa: hey :) are you there yet?
You looked around to see if anyone was snooping but thankfully, a good 9/10 of the team went to to use the toilet so no one was there to read your messages.
Y/N: We're almost there! Hinata begged for another toilet break...
Oikawa: hahahaha if he were on my team i would've just left him
You smiled at his playful message and began to type another reply.
"Watcha smiling at?" A voice in front of you said out of nowhere. You jumped in your seat at the sight of the charismatic yet cunning vice captain and accidentally threw your phone up in the air. The silver haired boy laughed at your overreaction and bent down to pick your phone up as you felt your cheeks and ears burn up.
"Man, we're never gonna reach Seijoh at this point." He groaned as he handed your phone back. The Karasuno volleyball team was headed to another practice match with Aoba Johsai but this time, it was held in their school.
It has been over a week since you last saw OIkawa and traded phone numbers with him. You've been texting him on a daily basis at this point and you felt ecstatic when Takeda sensei announced the practice match. You had to conceal your smile as the announcement was taking place as you felt Tanaka and Nishinoya's eyes burning a hole on your back, as if they knew exactly what was going through your head. Of course, you kept the fact that you've been getting friendly with their rival's team captain under wraps, though it wasn't like anyone has come up to you and asked who you were texting so you weren't technically lying about anything but you did feel guilty for some reason.
"What are you thinking about Y/N?" Sugawara hummed as he fixed some bags on the overhead compartment above your seat. "O-oh um nothing, I was just wondering why we don't have practice matches with other schools," you lied, "I never knew Karasuno had such strong ties with Seijoh." Sugawara rested his chin on top of the seat beside me, furrowing his eyebrows in deep thought. "That's true, it's odd how Aoba Johsai asks for a practice match so soon after our last one, especially because they won previously. During my entire three years in this club, Seijoh has only reached out to us a total of three times so they must really like us now huh." He shrugged. You were about to continue the conversation but the bus was shortly filled back in with the rest of the team and you were forced to continue the journey to the practice match.
You arrived in another fifteen minutes and the boys immediately started to stretch and warm up for the practice match they were all so pumped about, still unsatisfied with the result from the match they previously had. You took a seat beside coach Ukai and Shimizu and pulled out a notebook and a pen from your backpack to take down notes of the match. A student from Seijoh playing as the referee blew his whistle and commenced the match.
You looked over to Aoba Johsai's side of the court to see Oikawa serving first. His brown hair was styled as usual with no hair out of place and his veins on his right arm popped ever so slightly as he held the volleyball he was going to serve with one hand. He threw the ball up in the air and your eyes unexpectedly met. He smirked in the midst of jumping to deliver his signature jump serve and hit the ball with all the power he had. Though the power he had could leave anyone in awe, the word "OUT" echoed the gym and Oikawa was greeted with a smack on his head by his vice captain, Iwaizumi, who he frequently mentioned in your conversations.
The entire team glanced menacingly at their captain while he rubbed the back of his neck and gave them a playful wink, making you giggle at the sight of the peculiar volleyball captain. You thought all captains of any sports team would be more reliable and mature like Daichi but you guess you were wrong.
The matched resumed and the ball Kageyama served turned to be a chance ball for Seijoh. The ball fell into Oikawa's hands and he perfectly and accurately sets to his vice captain, allowing him to spike. The white uniformed team momentarily cheered at their first point of the day and their first years gave Oikawa showers of praises for the performance he just did. "I guess he is reliable in his own special way." You quietly whispered to yourself, subtly smiling at him.
The game resumes as usual. Aoba Johsai snatched the win for the first set and the two teams took a five minute break before resuming the match. Oikawa winks at you before running towards his bench to get a drink and to discuss tactics with his fellow teammates.
"Dude, what is up with you." Iwaizumi asked his captain after dragging him out of the crowd of resting volleyball players. "What are you talking about?" Oikawa innocently replied, casting a smile towards his childhood friend. The shorter of the two tightened his grip on his water bottle as he saw his fabricated smile. "Don't tell me you went all the way to beg the coach to set up a practice match with Karasuno just to hit on a girl." Iwaizumi sighed as he came to the realization of his best friend's intentions, "I know you're a bit messed up in your head but this is the first time I've seen you go this far just to get a girl's attention." He started, putting his hand on his captain's shoulder but before he could go on any further, a whistle was blown, commencing the start of the next set. Oikawa slyly grinned, mentally thanking the referee for getting him out of a lecture and started to jog back to the court. "Just quit staring at her, I'm sure blondie over there already got a hint on what you're after." The Seijoh ace whispered to the captain, averting his gaze from a not so happy Tsukishima, who was trying to look at Oikawa dead in the eye.

The two schools managed to finish two three set games by the time the sun has already begun to set. Fortunately, Karasuno was able to win a game which means each Seijoh and Karasuno won three sets by the end of the day. This improvement left a happier and satisfied impression with the Karasuno team which made you happy as well, seeing them so proud with their performance.
Everyone was already outside, getting ready to board the bus back home and were all noisily discussing the match. Knowing how immature and irresponsible the boys can be, Shimizu took it upon herself to take a quick scan of Seijoh's gym to make sure none of them left any of their belongings like the responsible manager she is but, you stopped her as you felt bad that you didn't do nearly as much work as she has done. You told her not to worry and to save you a seat on the bus before running back into the gym.
You knew the boys were exhausted from the intense and long rallies they had throughout the game so they were dying to go back home to get a proper rest so, you sprinted into the gym and attempted to get back to the bus as fast as you can.
You scanned the floors for any familiar bags and the area where you and Shimizu sat and realized that nothing was left behind. You turned sharply after checking under the benches and expected to see the view of the gym's polished wooden floors but all you can see was pitch black nothingness as your face made "thud" noise.
"Y/N-chan?" The wall you just collided with spoke. You raised your head quickly in embarrassment as you realized you just ran into Oikawa, to be specific, ran into his torso. You shifted your gaze from his white uniformed abdomen to the confused look he was wearing on his face.
You were speechless. You didn't know what to say or do. A million thoughts are running through your head, attempting to find ways to cope with the embarrassing act you've just done but a laugh interrupted your thinking. "Man, Y/N-chan, you gotta be more careful from now on! What if you did this to Mad Dog-chan? He'd bite your head off!" He chuckled as he patted your head softly. You stared at him in disbelief, trying to piece your thoughts together as your whole face turned red. All you could say was "sorry" in the midst of his fits of laughter.
"But I'm glad I was able to bump into you alone Y/N! Metaphorically and physically." He said as he finally calmed down, his face beaming at yours. "W-Why?" You stammered, still not over what just happened. Oikawa bent down close to your left ear promptly, not giving you time to fluster over his abrupt move. He was so close you could feel his warm breath on the left side of your neck. "Well afterall, I did arrange all this just so I could see you again." His voice soothed. You felt your surroundings go mute again, just like the last time you saw him. Without skipping a beat, he continued. "Y/N-chan." His voice was deeper than usual, a serious tone draped over your name. Without realizing, you held your breath in anticipation of his next words.
"Will you go on a date with me?"
You turned your head to face him. A date? The captain of Seijoh's volleyball team is asking you on a date? Everything felt surreal and the whole world seemed to spin. Your breathing was deep and slow as your gaze met his sickly sweet smile.
You were ecstatic. Never in a million years, you would've thought your classic case of unrequited love and admiration would turn up like a protagonist's love story in a shojo manga. Your heart was beating so fast, it felt like it could leap out of your throat. You wanted to scream yes immediately, however a series of coughs from the entrance of the gym interrupted the golden moment you were experiencing.
Both you and Oikawa, whose bodies were an inch apart, diverted your attention to the tall blonde boy leaning against the door, just a few steps away from where you were.
"We're waiting for you, Y/N."
