“That Was A Mistake”//Reader(volleyball player) x Haikyuu boys)

Ok so this was heavily inspired by @bbteahoe so check her “Text! Accidentally being added into Karasuno’s VB groupchat” story out!! This was also inspired by the calls I was meant to do in my Spanish class but never did because my teacher got fired before we could ever do it.... Anyway enjoy!! :)

Explanation of the story: You meet a energetic redhead that accidentally adds you to his volleyball group chat

side notes: c/n means country name & l/n means last name

“Okay, class,” your Japanese teacher made his way to the front of the classroom, “I have a special announcement.” He waited a moment for suspense, but it’s not any of the students in your class cared, and you for sure didn’t. “Today is finally the day we’re going to talk to students in Japan!” Your teacher was waaaaay too excited for a 7:00 am class. “So I’m quickly going to explain before we start. You will be paired up with a student. Each week you will switch between talking English and talking Japanese. This week, we’ll be talking in Japanese.”

He walked around, giving you each a slip of paper with your call id and password on it. “When you’re ready, join the call.”

You plugged in your earbuds into the laptop and signed into the call. You were surprisingly greeted by a smiling, red head. “Nice to meet you! I’m Hinata Shoyo!”

“Likewise, I’m *first and last name*. You both exchanged some basic information about yourselves like your highschool and age. Surprisingly you were both the same age, 15. You also told him how you preferred to be called your first name compared to your family’s name.

You were infatuated with this bundle of joy. Even though you were just introducing yourselves, he somehow made the conversion just a million times better. “So, what are your hobbies?” You asked, wanting to know more about this kid.

“I play volleyball!” He said.

“Really? I do too!” You replied exasperated.

“I’m a middle blocker, what about you?” His eyes seemed to light up when we started talking about volleyball.

“I’m a libero!” You replied, excited to have someone to fangirl over the sport with.

You both used your remaining 30 minutes to talk about your team members, the teams you had to play against, and embarrassing stories about your time as volleyball players. He even told you about the small giant, and how seeing him inspired him to play volleyball. Your teacher gave you a warning saying you only have five minutes left and you should be ending the call soon.

“You know, you’re really good a Japanese for being a first year student.” Hinata pointed out.

“Oh, I’ve actually been taking Japanese since I was 10, but since I changed school districts this year, I have to take first year Japanese.” You were annoyed by the fact your credit from your past school district wouldn’t transfer over, but at least this class was an easy A.

“Wow! This is my first year taking english, so when we talk next time, I might not make much sense.” He frowned.

“Don’t worry about it!” You reassured him.

“Can I have your number? Talking to you was really fun” You were shocked that he would ask, but still proceeded to give him your number. You both said you goodbyes and you sat through your remaining 30 minutes of class.

When you were on your way to your next class, you decided to check your phone and you noticed you got a notification form an unknown number.

Maybe//Shoyo Hinata: Hi y/n! It’s Hinata!

You added him as a contact named: Hyper Ginger

Y/n: Hi there!!

Right after you replied you quickly put your phone back in your bag and rushed over to your next class.

Finally, school finished and you took your phone out. When you opened it you saw…. 54 unread messages?

You head run over towards your locker room, trying to get changed in time before you're late to racticly. Needless to say that was the most...interesting… conversation you’ve ever had. Tanaka and Nishinoya were hilarious even though you know they were being pretty serious.

ok it’s not a super “FUCK YOU JOB” story but it’s still pretty good I think. So this week, Sunday-Saturday, was gonna be my last week at this job. I’ve lined up a new job with like, better everything and I’ll be starting soon, but I wanted to give my 2 weeks to be considerate...

But imma be real it was SO HARD to care about LITERALLY ANYTHING. But whatever bc it was low stress, I just kinda chilled and did the bare minimum and nobody blamed me bc, y’know, I’M LEAVING.

Today I’m there just chilling with my friend and our other coworkers. Things are getting done, but I’m not micromanaging or any of that bs bc we’re all adults everyone can handle doing some tasks. If they ever wanna take a few minutes of a break or look at their phones I’m not gonna stop them. They’ll get shit done.

Enter K. She comes in today and announces that she’s our new GM. Almost no introduction ,just a ‘hey I’m K I’m your boss now”. We knew it was legit bc we’d heard our District Manager mention her a few times but it was really surprising that she just kinda... showed up. Our previous GM quit literally like 4 days ago so the speed with which they found us a new one was kind of incredible and also terrible.

Now I’m gonna level with everyone. I don’t do very well being told what to do,, especially by people I don’t know. The old GM, i had my problems with him but overall he was a good guy and most importantly he went out of his way to be pleasant and get to know all of us. K just came in and was like “You need to make sure you’re doing [arbitrary task] every day.” I wont’ go into the details of [arbitrary task] but let’s just say it was a thing managers did to micromanage. Since I was the opening manager, I was supposed to do the thing. I had not been doing the thing bc a) we’ve only been having like 3 people on staff per day bc of COVID, b) I’d rather let everyone pick which tasks they wanna do rather than picking for them and c) I’m leaving, I literally don’t care.

I kinda say this to K, and I’ll admit it was not my wisest moment to back talk the new GM within 5 minutes of her walking into the store. But I don’t think before i speak sometimes and i just kinda went “I’m gonna be honest, my last day is the end of the coming week I don’t... really care.”

So that made her mad. But whatever. I don’t know you, lady, your feelings and opinions of me have no impact. (A slight lie, I very quickly felt sad that I made someone dislike me but it was overpowered by the happiness I felt of talking back to a manager.)

So the day goes on and stuff keeps getting done. Something else ends up happening that K and I have a disagreement about, really nothing major but something she was like “next time, call your superior to handle the situation” and i’m like bitch a) it wasn’t a big deal and b) I’m a manager, I’m allowed to deal with unhappy customers i don’t know you i’m not gonna call you for the problems when you don’t even officially work at this store yet and you’re just here like 2 days a week until you finish at your OTHER store.

But I don’t say that. What I do say is (and I know almost exactly bc I texted it to a friend directly after I said it), “Listen. I know you’re just trying to do your job, and you’re trying to do it well. I respect that. But like i told you it’s my last week and I honestly do not care enough to do more than the bare minimum. I’m only still here because I didn’t want there to be a panic-scramble to fill the 4 opening shifts I’m supposed to have. (there’s only a couple of keyholders for the store, so finding people people to fill the 4 opening shifts that would cover would have been difficult.) If you don’t like me, if you want me to go, I will give you my keys and leave. I just don’t want to put you in a position of having a missing keyholder for 4 openings this week if I don’t have to.”

She changed the topic and said nothing about this, so I figured she was like “y’know what fine I’ll wait it out”.

BOY WAS I WRONG.

She kept leaving the building to make phonecalls for the rest of the shift, and I kinda assumed it was stuff for her other store or calling the District Manager to confirm stuff about moving locations, whatever. I did a few small tasks, stickered stuff, rang people out, whatever whatever. End of day comes I’m like “Hey D I’m taking down your drawer.” D tells me “Oh, K said she was gonna do it.” and I’m like well it’s 15 minutes to close and she’s not up here so I’m gonna do it. So I do, but Kay stops me and takes the drawer and says she’ll do it and I’m like cool ok I guess I’ll go man the front. Then when we actually close I’m taking back my drawer and I set it in the office and K’s like “I forgot to do a thing on the spreadsheet” and I’m like “oh hey no problem I’ll do it” and she’s like “No, I’ll do it.” and I’m like “It’s... it’s really not that big a deal but okay if that’s what you want I guess.”

So I step back out of the office and twirl my keys around my finger for a few minutes, then she comes out of the office and just says, “I’m gonna take you up on your keys offer, you’re done.” And I’m like cool ok, so I take my keys off my keyring and give them to her, then I go into the office to count my till but she says no, she’ll do it. This part was probably just me reading the room wrong bc autism but I go like, “Oh, maybe it’s different at your store but here we normally have the person whose drawer it is count it while the manager looks on, but if you do it a different way that’s fine.” and she’s just like “No you’re just completely done, go get your stuff and I’ll escort you out.”

turns out the calls she was making were to the other two keyholders so get the 4 openings figured out and I’m like... well damn okay. Like I feel kind of upset but also not really bc that job was getitng on my fucking NERVES like fuck I hate retail. So I just kinda shrug and say okay and go get my bag and my snack and have her check my bag before I leave (have to have a manager check bags when you leave to prevent theft) and she’s just like “By the way... why do you keep your bag behind the counter?’

I just kinda shrug. The real answer is that it’s easier but I just say, “I dunno, I know we’re not allowed to.” (I’d just been doing it for the past few days bc I had such little amount of stuff with me and so few fucks to give). And K just looks at me and goes, “Yeah, no shit!”

Then she unlocks the door for me and I go out like “k peace byee” and I think she was actually angry by how nonplussed I seemed. and that’s the story of how I got fired a week before my last day at the job lol

You were getting ready to go to school, and you hear a voice calling you from the window. It was your boyfriend. ^^ His name is Hyun, he is really tall and handsome, and he is the most popular guy in your school. You didn’t want to let him wait, so you left your house. You see him with his car, and get in it. Hyun: Hey babe! Let’s hurry up because we can be late again. Y/N: Ok. .. In the car were you, your boyfriend, and his friends. They were like those guys that everyone has respect for, and they are really muscular, but not really smart. :D They were laughing and talking about some girls, as always, while your boyfriend … umm was kinda doing the same. You have became his girlfriend , more to own respect from the others, than for true love. But anyway, you always pretend to be happy with him, and you think that he pretends too. But what’s the point?!!.... You just arrived at school, and get off the car. While Hyun and his friends were walking forward you faster, you moved your head to the school’s door and you see that someone new had came. He was tall, with cute messy hair, and with a large jacket (because it was really cold), and he had his bag too. This meant that he was a new student. He seemed as a friendly person, and you would like to say “hi” to him, but you hear that voice again!! >.< Hyun: Y/N, hurry up!!! I’m waiting you, and I’m freezing so you better hurry. This was your Korean class, and you really liked the teacher of this class. The teacher: Good morning my cuties!! J You see that the new guy left his seat, and went next to your teacher, with his face towards your class. J-Hope: Hello everyone!! My name is Jung Hoseok, but you can call me J-Hope. Umm, before moving in here, I was living in Gwangju , which is my birthplace, and I came in here to make my dreams come true. I want to be an amazing rapper, and a great dancer too. I hope I have made the right choice for coming here in Seoul. I also hope to make new friends in here, and you guys should know that I’m really friendly and I can get along with everyone. While waiting for your drink, you see that, the new guy was staying right forward you. He was drinking coffee, and he was just staying at his phone. You really wanted him to just stay concentrate in there, so you could see at him without getting embarrassed. But, he raised his head and noticed you. He smiled to you and made a sign for you, that meant, that you could sit in his table if you wanted. You would really like to know him better, so you decided to sit in there. J-Hope: Hey! You: Hi!! J-Hope: Sooo, you already know my name, right? Can I know yours? You: Haha, yes! My name is Y/N. And, nice to meet you. J J-Hope: Cute name!! ^^ Nice to meet you too. Well, I know this was like super fast, but I should go now. I’m so so sorry!!! And don’t think that I found you boring, but I just have to do smth in my house now. The evening came really fast, and your palms were sweating, and you were quiet nervous. Since you had butterflies in your stomach, you couldn’t even find the right outfit, and you end up being wear like a rainbow. Still you looked cute. But something was making you even more nervous!! Why are you feeling butterflies in your stomach, from a boy who you have been knowing just for an hour?!! That’s weird. Anyway …. You were prepared , and you suddenly see that someone has arrived and has started to chat with your mom. You got excited, so you decided to go downstairs. You saw your mom chating with a guy, and when he turned his face to your direction…. Oh noooo!!!! You see that he was your boyfriend! (Awkwarddd!!) You: Oh hey, Hyun!! ^^ What’re you doing here? Hyun: Heyy!! Umm, what I’m doing here?? Hehe, you’re my girlfriend, right? You: Of course I am! I just … asked. Hyun: I would like to spent the evening with you today! I also talked with your mom, and she agreed. ;) You: Oh, ‘-.- cool!! Of course! J Can we leave since now, because I’m ready! :D Hyun: Uuh, of course! Come on! You kissed your mom, and then left your house with Hyun. Eeh, it wasn’t as you expected, but whatever … you and your boyfriend hadn’t passed the evening together since a long time. Hyun: You don’t look really happy babe! What’s wrong? You: Well, I didn’t ummm, eat anything after I came from school, and now my head is starting to hurt, and …. Hyun: Ok, ok!!! XD No need to explain all of that! You better stop before my headache start too! XD .. You got angry, and you didn’t say anything, except looking at Hyun with a serious look. You: Oh look, Hyun, the modern art is going to be shown today at the art gallery. Can we goo, pleaseeee!!! *o* Hyun: Umm, ok whatever! If you want to…

You and Hyun entered the art gallery, and wooow it was so full of people! But you got a bit worried, for J-Hope, because he would go to your house, and he will not find you in there. You don’t even have his phone number!! The last time you two met, you gave him just the address of your house. >.< He will feel sad. Hyun: What are you thinking Y/N? You should be happy, since we are in this place now! You: I am happy! I just … reminded something! .. Anyway, let’s go and see that masterpiece overthere! Hyun: :D Ok, let’s go! .. Woow, it was a painting of Maurice Utrillo, who you love really much!! *O* Hyun: Hmm, I think this one has been crazy! XD You: -.-, heyy, don’t offend him!! It’s not called crazy, it’s just called art!!! Duh! Hyun: I personally would like to go and see that other painting over there, because I’m not enjoying seeing this, because I personally don’t get it! ‘XD You: Uff, okay go! I hope you understand the other one. … Hyun went to another painting, while you were still staring at Maurice Utrillo’s art! <3 You really love his style! That painting has such a big meaning, inside of those dark colours. *o* While you were enjoying the painting, you hear someone whispering to your ear : Hey!! You turned your head, terrified, and oooh, you see J-Hope. You: Oh my god! You scared me! And hey! J-Hope: Haha, sorry! Didn’t mean to. Btw, do you always come to the art gallery when someone asks you out, or was it just with me? XD You blushed: Haha, noo!! And, I’m so sorry about tonight! It’s just, my boyfriend wanted to go out with me today! It was as a surprise for me too, because he doesn’t do those kind of things usually! J-Hope: It’s ok!!! I understand it! I personally went to your house, and your mom explained me everything! And I came here just by coincidence. I weren’t following you, I just love art in general! You: J I believe you! I’m happy that I saw you here. J-Hope: Me too! J Hyun: Umm, hello!! Did you drop anything? J-Hope: Oh hello! You must be Y/N’s boyfriend! Nice to meet you, I’m J-Hope! The new guy. I’m leaving now, and you better hurry up tomorrow for school! You: Are you kidding? I’m not going to pass my life with a jerk like you! So bye bye!! Hyun: Whaattt??!!! Did you … just break .. up with me? You: Oh yes! That’s right! I broke up with you! Now go at your real girlfriends and cry to them!! Because you know what? I don’t care! I have never cared! I will never care! Goo nowww!!! Crryyy, if you want! >.< I’m leaving first! .. you didn’t wait for Hyun to say anything, and you just left the art gallery! You were crying from anger, but somehow you felt your soul relieved from that stupid person! You were running to catch the bus , which goes to your neighbourhood, but you hear a voice calling you. It was J-Hope. J-Hope: Y/N, waaiiit!!! You stopped running, and he came closer you. Since you were still crying, he gave you a warm hug, and you were doing the same. That hug happened for around 5 minutes. And then you two just stand back. J-Hope started wiping away your tears, and cleaning your face. You: Ah, thank you! You’re so sweet! J J-Hope: Np! ^^ Are you feeling better now? I saw everything. You: Oh, much more better! You may be surprised, but I didn’t really love him. So I feel much more happier now! And, sorry for what he said to you earlier! He is like that with everyone, not just with you. J-Hope: Oh yea, I noticed that! J No, I didn’t get angry! I understand him. “Another guy was talking to his girlfriend” You: Ohh, please!! But what, when I see him with a lot and a lot of other girls!! J-Hope: Haha, I don’t know what to say! You: J It’s ok! I want to thank you once again! ;) J-Hope: Would you like me to take you home? Maybe you need a rest. You: Pff, noo!! I told you, I feel much more better. J-Hope: Haha, ok! You woke up really happy, got ready, ate breakfast, and surprisingly you were earlier than other times. Maybe, because you hated Hyun pressure on you every morning! Also you feel so so bad for J-Hope, because he shouldn’t be part of this situation at all! While you were thinking about these things, you hear the door opened, and you see Hyun. It was a slow nice kiss, and he was pouring hot tears from his eyes!! Omgg, he was crying, and you started to cry too!! You had that feeling of losing someone precious! But, suddenly the ambulance had arrived, and when they saw J-Hope, they got him to the car, you got into the car too and so you were moving to an hospital. You were praying during all the ride, because you really cared for J-Hope, and now just thinking of him made you cry. ToT The ambulance arrived at the hospital, and they took J-Hope with a barrel, and a doctor took him in one of the hospital’s rooms. You couldn’t go to the room, so you were just waiting inside the hospital. Looking at those nervous faces of other people who were waiting for their relatives, made you feel something weird in your stomach. After half an hour, finally a nurse comes out of the room where J-Hope was staying, and she started to talk with you. Nurse: Don’t need to be worried girl! Your boyfriend will be recovered, but you did a really good job by calling the ambulance, because in cases like this, help should come really fast! You: Pheww, thank god!! Oh, actually i’m not .. his girlfriend! I can say i’m just a really good friend! Nurse: Well, you can say what you want, but when a person loses a lot of blood, he starts to talk about different things. And the doctor had noticed that he was repeating your name a lot. :) You: Ooh, that makes me happy! :) But can I please see him now? I really need to. Nurse: I know what you feel. You can go in there, but don’t make him many questions. Go now sweety! :* You: Oh, thank you so much!!! ~

You entered in the room that J-Hope was resting, and you see that he wasn’t sleeping. When he sees you, his whole face became happy, and he gave you a warm smile. J You went near the bed, and you were petting his head. You: Oh, J-Hope!! I was so scary! I thought I could lose you! T.T You should know that I really care about you, and in you I have found some missing parts of me. You are such an amazing person, and if someone should be in this bed right now, that should be me. I started all of that situation, and you shouldn’t be the one who would get hurt. ToT I’m so so so sorry, for ever… J-Hope: Shhh, come here! He moved a bit, and grabbed your head to kiss you. He was kissing you with the same warmth, and with one hand he was touching you hair, and with the other hand he was wiping away your tears. During all that kiss, you couldn’t stop crying. But they were love tears, and they were the tears who were telling you that he was the one, the one that would love you all along. And your tears were right, you and J-Hope became the most strong and lovely couple of all the times. And the secret of all that, was just the true love. That love behind the tears. <3

Rap Monster left the school and he was walking alone on the way to his house. He was feeling really akward and not really good!! Rap Mon finally arrived in his house, and his parents had gone to work. He was walking slowly through the hall, and he entered his room. It was another big bouquet of flowers in front of your door. But they were red roses now, and omggg they smelled perfectly! But anyway it hadn’t any note, so u weren’t really sure who made you that, again! You decided to let the bouquet in ur home, because u didn’t want to show them to Namjoon. You don’t know why, but you weren’t feeling really exciting, as the last time, that you take another bunch of flowers. -_- So you just walked through the neighbourhood to get Rap Mon. <3 He was waiting for u again, and he was so cute and tall. The next day come!!! ^^ It was such a sunny day, because you were feeling like shining inside of you too. You were getting done your blue hair <3, and than you were trying your marvelous dress. It was such a magic dress, and you looked like a princess with that! <3 You were putting some make-up and fixing ur hair again, when you hear your door bell ring. ^^ Your Mom: Y/N come sweety, because Moonie is here! Y/N: I’m coming mom!! ^^ You paint your fluffy little lips with red, and than you were running downstairs. The first thing that you notice was, a good man, the best rapper, the coolest guy but the most important one, it was your best friend!! ^^ Y/N: Rap Mooon!!! Oh my…. You look so handsome!!! You are like a real prince!! *o* RM: Thanks cutie!! And you are my princess, for today for tomorrow and for forever! ^^ Here, take this, I thought to give you another bouqet of flowers, and this time not in a secret way! :P Y/N: Oooh, so kind of you!
