You woke up the next morning excited at the thought of Elaine coming over. Almost immediately you jumped out of bed and went to get dressed. As you were choosing a shirt you heard a short loud buzz. Your phone. You walked over and turned the screen on. Another message from Ben, you werent expecting that.

‘So what are your plans for today?’ the message read. You picked the phone up and typed

‘My best friends coming over, were exchanging gifts and then just hanging around.’ you hit sent and it dawned on you. Why was he asking? Did he wanna talk? Hang out? You shook your head trying to not overthink it. You continued getting dressed when another message came through.

‘Oh, i was gonna ask if you wanted to come with me and Luke to this art museum, i remember you saying you really liked art and thought you'd wanna tag along.’

So he did want to hang out. ‘That's really sweet of you to offer, wish i could go, maybe next time though :(‘

You hit send, slid the phone in your pocket and headed downstairs. You went to the kitchen and saw there was a note on the fridge

‘Left early to go get you another surprise, I think you'll like this one most. Be back by 12’

Turning towards the clock you saw it was about 9 am. Elaine said she would be here at 9:30. Opening the pantry you looked to see what your grandfather kept around. Sure enough the first thing you saw was a big box of your favorite cereal. You brought it down and saw it was unopened. He must have bought it before you came. You opened it and had 2 bowls while you scrolled through your social media. You didn't have a big following, not like Rey or Elaine. You still had a good amount of people following you though, like Elaine, Hux, phasma, some friends in the city from when you lived there. Your parents' business pages followed you, as did your grandfathers. As well as some strangers that started following you back when you used to post your art, until a certain someone got everyone in school to make fun of it driving you to take it down. You don't know what you did to make rey hate you so much. It's like from the beginning of time her goal was to make you as miserable as she could. It was like having an evil older sister, except she was your cousin.

She was only about a year older than you. Once you moved to the republic, she followed a few months later. Once your father announced you would be attending Yale after graduation. She announced later that year that she had been accepted. Jokes on her though, once you finally gather the strength to do it you plan on telling your parents you have your heart set on the Pratt institute in Brooklyn. Your father wanted you to run some of his businesses with him, but you wanted to be a fashion designer. You didn't even want to live here with the rest of them. The town of Alderaan held nothing but bad memories. It held some good things like your friends, and your grandfather, but the only person you're close with is Elaine. Her heart is set on New York too. You know if you left your grandfather would visit. He has business in New York so he would have a reason to come every now and then. You would visit him too, of course. There was more pain than happiness though. The pain of your parents. The pain from the torment Rey had brought for years. Mama's death. You wanted to go, and start somewhere new. Somewhere you could be Y/N Kenobi. Not just Y/N daughter of Alden Kenobi, and Granddaughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Somewhere you could be more than their legacy.

You heard a knock at the door. You quickly ran your bowl to the kitchen sink and rushed over to the door. You looked out the peephole and saw Elaine standing on the other side holding a small box. You swung open the door and pulled her into the hug.

“I know it's only been a few days but i miss you so much.” she said embracing you.

“I know, and for it only being a few days there's a lot to catch you up on, but first I wanna give you your gifts.” you pulled her in the house and made your way to the den. She sat on the little couch looking around as you rushed upstairs to grab her gift. Unlike you, she was a big Reader. Reading was her absolute favorite thing in this world. Almost her entire instagram feed was books she was reading, cafes she loved to read at, and pictures of her at her favorite library.

She was also insanely smart. You consider yourself smart, but this girl was a borderline genius. She could do anything she wanted to in this world, but science above all was what she wanted to do. Her dream was to be a botanist, and it was fitting for her. Whenever she was out of her school uniform she always had something on that involved plants whether it was a leaf print shirt, socks with trees on them, or a hair clip with flowers on it.

You had gotten her a stack of books. A limited edition of her favorite Jane Austen, a new one that you found when you read the summary and it sounded like something she would have liked, and a couple older books on plant biology. You grabbed the books and ran back down to her. And placed them down next to her. She gave you a look knowing that it was books. She picked them up and unwrapped them each one by one. She almost immediately read the first chapter of the book you chose for her. After she was done she handed you your gift. You unwrapped it and saw it was a light green instax camera.

“I figured you could use it on the Italy trip.”

“How'd you know about that?”

“Your grandfather may have asked for places to take you to, you're lucky I talked him into Italy his first idea was Canada.” you didn't have a grudge against Canada it just seemed too close to home, and you loved Italy.

“You really are my best friend.” you two talked a while when you eventually got to the topic of Christmas day.

“He was here.”

“Who was here?”

“Ben. so were his grandparents, and Luke. it was weird.” you said, remembering how the night had begun.

“So not only was he here, but you also met Anakin and Padme?” you forgot that they were a big deal in the town. They practically ran it.

“Yeah I guess. They weren’t as scary as people make them out to be. Anakin was quiet, but Padme was really sweet.”

“That's so cool. I've always wanted a chance to meet her. I heard the garden at her house is absolutely insane. What happened with Ben though? It must have been awkward considering he's a total dick.” you laughed remembering that you had ranted about that to her.

“At first he was still a dick, but then something changed and he turned out to not be so bad.”

“What happened?”

“My parents happened. I called them the day after you left hoping to catch up with them before Christmas. They took that as a sign that they didn't need to call for the holiday. It hurt a lot. I was crying in the hall when Ben found me and asked if I was ok. After that we talked for a bit before we came back. We talked the rest of the night.”

She looked just as confused as you were last night. “So one day hes slamming a door in your face the next he's hanging out with you like you guys had just met?”

“That's exactly what i thought! That night too he called a spoiled rich kid!”

“He's the one that acted like a spoiled rich kid.”

“I said that too!” you exclaimed as you two laughed

“He turned out to be not so bad after all. He even texted me this morning trying to hang out.”

“Sounds like he's got a crush.” she teased

“No, no, no, you have not seen this man Laine, he's incredibly hot, and there's no way a man like that could take an interest in someone like me.”

“Why not? I mean you're smart as hell, funny, and you're beautiful.”

“Trust me if i was all that i would've had plenty of boyfriends in the past.”

“You're kidding right? You know my brothers had a crush on you since day 1, and you've never seen the way Hux would stare at when we were freshman.” she said shaking your shoulders.

“Hux had a crush on me?” you always thought he was handsome but you thought he was too uptight to ever take the time to have an interest in someone.

“Yes since we were 13. He would always ask me about you and the things you liked. He was just too scared to act on it.” That was a fun fact for sure.

“Huh that's interesting. I never knew that.”

“It's because you're oblivious. Whenever someone does like you, you think they're just being nice.”

She continued to completely roast you for never noticing the difference between people flirting and people being nice. After that she stopped herself and looked a bit shocked.

“Wait, he asked if you wanted to hang out, what did he want to do?”

“Go to an art museum. He said he remembered me saying i liked art and he wanted to see if i would go?”

“You mean, like a date?”

“He said Luke was going too, so probably not.”

“Still he chose to invite you instead of anyone else.”

“He doesn't know anyone else.” just then you heard a car pull up. Looking at the clock you noticed it was 11:30. If it was your grandfather he was early. You heard the door open and close and after a few minutes you saw him walk in.

“Why hello Elaine it's a pleasure seeing you here.” she got up and went over to hug him.”look at you two so grown up. It warms my heart to see you two still together after all these years.”

You got up after her and went to hug him too. “If you two could follow me I have one last surprise for you Y/N.”

Both of you followed after him as he led you to the front door. Once you both were there he opened it and led you outside. Sitting in the front yard was something big. It was laying down but when the door opened it turned. It was a dog. Not just any dog, but a blue tick just like the one mama had when you were younger.

“He's quite old. He's a rescue, but as soon as I saw him I knew he was perfect. He can stay here since you can't have him at school. This just means you'll have to come over more often.”

You walked over to the dog. He was old. You weren't sure how old, but he did have a few gray hairs in his face and throughout his body, but he was still beautiful. You bent down letting him smell your hands. He took a while to smell your hand before licking it. He must've been losing his sense of smell. As soon as he stood and licked your head you knew you were in love. This dog was going to be your everything. Elaine came over and let him smell her too.

“Where'd you get him?” you asked him as you scratched the back of his ears, and Elaine stroked his back.

“He was abandoned in the middle of the woods when they found him. His foster parents think he was a hunting dog, and that when he got too old to keep hunting his owners dumped him. He loves being outside, and he is apparently very loyal. I knew he was going to be the perfect friend for you and today was the day we scheduled his pick up. I was originally going to pick you up from school and take you with me to get him, but then you came for Christmas, and i know you wanted to spend time with Elaine so i went for him myself.”

The old plopped himself down on the ground. You gave his belly a few rubs before you stood up and ran to go hug your grandfather again.

“He is perfect. Thank you.” he hugged back before walking to the car to grab his food and toys.

“What are you gonna name him?” Elaine questioned. There was a song. It was by Emmylou Harris, and it was one of your grandfather's favorite songs and there was a dog mentioned in the song.

“I think Gideons is a pretty good name.” you went over and sat on the ground to pet him again.

“Gideon. I like it. It's fitting.” you both stayed outside playing with him for a bit before you decided to bring him inside.

You led him in on the leash, and he stood for a second as you unhooked his leash from his collar. He walked around slowly in an old man-like fashion. He stopped by almost every item giving it a quick sniff before moving on to the next thing. You and Elaine watched as he walked into the den and sniffed in a corner before sitting down. You took over a small bowl of food and water. He lapped at the water a bit before he laid down and drifted off to sleep. Elaine and you sat next to him on the floor petting him and talking to him. Eventually he got up presumably to go outside. You let him out and, started making the corner he chose a little cozy. You set up the dog bed your grandfather had brought him, placed an old blanket on it, and put a few toys near it.after he came back in you figured you'd let him sleep and you retreated to the couch with Elaine.

You and Elaine spent the rest of the day together. Your grandfather ordered a pizza together, and you guys all hung out together and ate before he went back upstairs to continue working. It was about 9 when she decided to head home.

“I had an awesome day. I'm definitely starting these books as soon as i get home.” she hugged you tight while you two stood at the door. “Keep me updated on Gideon, i'll let you know when i get home.”

“Okay love you!” you yelled out to her as she got in her car. She blew you a kiss and sat in her car, and you watched as she drove off. You walked back in and Gideon was standing behind you. You shut off all the lights downstairs and headed towards your room with him following close behind. When you got to your bed you gave the spot next to you a pat while looking at him. He slowly made his way towards the bed, and smelled the spot before jumping up onto it. After he laid down at the foot of the bed, you got in and stretched your legs out carefully so you wouldn't kick him by accident. You checked your phone and saw you had 12 new messages from a few hours ago. All from Ben.

You opened it, and saw a bunch of photos of some amazing art pieces, and one of him doing a goofy pose next to a statue. You laughed and looked through them. You read the message he had sent along with it.

‘Took some pictures since you couldn't come, there's always next time though.’

‘Lmao these are golden dude thanks!’ you sent back. You sat up and took a picture of Gideon sleeping, you sent it along with a message

‘i got a dog as my last gift for christmas :) his names Gideon i think you would like him.’

Not even 5 minutes later you got a picture back. It was of a shaggy dog with brown fur that had streaks of black. ‘its an old pic, but this is my dog Chewbacca, we call him Chewie though.’

You two went back and forth talking about your dogs, and other things until eventually you drifted off.

Summary: Another Anonymous Resident sent this prompt in ages ago, so if you’re out there, thanks for waiting around for so long!

Conrad / Nick / Jude - Purple

Pairing: (Friendships - Conrad x Jude x Nic)

Warnings: Injuries in the vague, Nic rolls her eyes a lot, soooo if that tells you anything, some grown-up language

Word Count: 1126

A/N: This prompt tripped. me. up. I asked so many people how the color purple made them feel before I finally realized that a bruise was the same color...soooo. Haha. I’m sorry. That and then I am participating in Whumptober, so whump is on the brain. That being said, if you request a prompt, can you do me a favor and explicitly state whether you want the characters you listed in a relationship or just friends. I left this one sort of open to interpretation, but I want to do exactly what someone would want, soooo yea! Thank you all for the continued support, and I’ll see you on the next one!

“Hey, Nic,” Jude's voice carried through her radio speakers and into the air around her. She smiles at the smooth tones.

“Jude, hi.”

“So,” he clears his throat and then there's some shuffling before another voice starts shouting something from somewhere in the background. Nic glances at her car radio, the source of all the noise, before looking straight ahead at the road again. “Our dumbass friend was a dumbass.”

Nic rolls her eyes, as she hears a clearer objection in the background. “-absolutely not!”

“What’d he do?” Nic asked, contemplating heading in there direction, thankful that she has a well-stocked first aid kit in the back.

“It's nothi-”

“Shut up, you’ve lost all opportunity to talk,” Jude yells, into the mouthpiece, but not at her. Nic spends a moment trying to figure out what's going on with the pair, knowing that it’s probably nothing but trouble.

When Conrad stopped yelling in the background, Jude began to speak again, this time to her. “So next time you see Conrad, don’t be mad, but he could use a ride home.”

Nic nodded, figuring that was exactly where this was going.

“Where are you guys at?” She sighed, and she could hear another objection in the background.

“Would you shut your mouth? You’re not riding a bike because you destroyed yours, and I doubt you feel like running! So shut up.” Nic’s confused but realizes the number of answers she can get over the phone aren’t going to satisfy her.

“Nic, we’re still at the park. We were supposed to help clean up-” Conrad's yelling again and Nic turns down the volume, anticipating Jude’s response as she mentally calculates her route.

“Conrad, I swear to god, if you make one say one more word-”

“You know what, I’ll talk to you when I get there.” Niic doubts Jude hears her as she ends the call in the middle of his rant.

She gets there quicker than she would have if she were just meandering along. She was five over the speed limit the entire way, and it was a subconscious effort of the worry she felt in her gut. She knew, that in theory, Conrad was probably fine. Especially with Jude there, so even if something was wrong, it was unlikely that the situation wasn’t under control. Especially because she’s seen both men at work.

What she was concerned about though, was Jude was clearly not wanting Conrad doing anything but going home, which wasn’t something that she saw Conrad doing willingly. Nic realized that’s why she was being called into the picture. Because while he was stubborn, Conrad would likely listen to her.

Probably.

She pulled onto the gravel driveway and pulled into the parking lot that was still filled with at least twenty vehicles. She almost didn’t find a parking spot.

She begins walking into the clearing before she spots Jude waving her over to the large medical tent. The worry deepens, but she ignores it as she makes her way through the clearing and up to Jude. She closer she gets, she can see the bandage that’s taped to his head and the faint red trails where blood would have trailed down his cheek, and then hastily wiped away. The bandage is surrounded by a sizable bruise that is twice the size of the bandage and spans down to his temple and cheek.

He smiles crookedly at her questioning gaze and points to his head. “It’s his fault, but it looks worse than it is.”

She gives him a skeptical look, “Alright, what happened?”

Jude smirked. “Our boy thought that cutting a corner would be a good idea-”

“Isn’t that against the rules?” Nic asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.

“You know as well as I do that Conrad’s the reason there are rules,” Jude smirks, shrugging. Nic rolls her eyes and allows Jude to continue.

“His tire slid in the mud from underneath him, he lost control. Couldn’t brake, or go faster, but it didn’t stop him from trying. He hit a tree and ended up bouncing back onto the trail, and I hit him, and I must have hit my head against a branch. Then before you know it, there are twelve grown-ups stacked on top of one another.” Jude says it so casually, and Nic wants to balk at the thought. Twelve people is a lot of weight to be under, with who knows how many bikes thrown into the mix.

“Any severe injuries?” She asked, glancing at the wound on Jude’s head again.

He shook his head, “Nope, worst off was Conrad.” He motioned him to follow her towards the tent. He stops at the opening and points inwards, “Which is why I’m sending him home.”

Nic looks in and winces at the sight of her friend that lied before her. His shirt isn’t on, and she can see the distinct bruises of a bike, (bikes?) His eyes are shut, but he has a matching bandage on his head and the purple bruise is a sharp contrast in the yellow lighting. Hs right leg is being propped up by two pillows, his knee covered in ice packs and wrapped tightly.

“What's the damage?” She asks, speaking loud enough so that Conrad can hear her as well. He doesn’t stir so she makes the assumption that he’s asleep.

“I think he sprained his knee, it's pretty swollen and with his history, it seems likely that there is something wrong with it. He won’t go to the hospital to get it checked out though,” Jude throws up his fingers as quotations, “because he’s dealt with it before.”

Nic rolls her eyes for what feels like the umpteenth time. “Of course he has.”

“His heads hurting pretty bad, and he’s got a couple of broken ribs. So I gave him some pain meds to help, which I nearly had to shove down his throat.” Nic knows how Conrad is and isn’t surprised. “I think if he just rests until his next shift, he can get himself a pair of crutches and be fine.”

“Conrad, not running throughout the halls of Chastain? People are going to get suspicious.” Nic retorted.

“I’ll be running in two days,” Conrad calls from the tent, his words slightly slurred, presumably from the sleep.

“No, you will not be, asshole. Now go home, we don’t want you here anymore.” Jude calls as Nic goes to Conrad's cot.

“Whatever,” He opens his eyes and smirks up at Nic’s approaching form. “Hey.”

“Hey, let's get you home, so you can get some proper rest.” Nic smiles back and squeezes his hand as she prepares to help him sit up.

He groans in preparation. “Ok, maybe three days.”

Rant

Its late and I’m tired and stressed from upcoming finals and irritated at myself for other reasons and I just want to get this out even if I’m not a very active (in terms of talking to other bloggers) member of my fandoms because this has been bothering me since like December and I've had enough.

Seeing all of these wonderfully talented authors and fellow fans delete their blogs or contemplating deleting their blogs makes me very sad, but at the same time, I know that in most they are doing what they believe is best for themselves. I know that there are different reasons why different authors have chosen to delete, but I have noticed a disturbing trend of anon hate and increasing writing demands being a culprit of these losses. And I have some Things to say about that. Especially when it causes writers to feel like something they used to love doing is now a burden (this just breaks my heart)

It makes me both furious and sad to see that there are people who think it is ok to send hateful messages to someone, for whatever reason. To those anons, I am sorry that you have nothing better to do with your time than to try to bring a fellow human being down. I honestly don’t know what goes through your head when you hit that send button with that message filled with negative thoughts, but I am sorry that you lack the ability to express your feelings in a functional and healthy way, or even to be kind at all. Empathy is a tried and true method, and if you could put yourself out of your own selfish bubble long enough to see how you would feel if someone sent such a message to you, well, I hope that you would make a different choice. Whether you truly and wholeheartedly mean what you saw or not, whether or not you think you are in the right, hate is never the answer.

The sheer selfishness that some people exhibit when it comes to communicating with their so-called “favorite authors” is disgusting. If they really are your favorite author then you should have the decency to show some respect and understanding about how difficult it is to have a life and a current writing blog. Authors are not machines. They have setbacks, they have limits, and they have free choice of writing whatever the fuck they want. It’s their blog, and their choice, not yours. They do not exist to serve your every whim. If an author hasn’t updated a series in a while, what you SHOULD do is politely ask them ONCE (1 TIME) if they have a plan on when hey might be working on it again, and whatever answer they give you, accept it as canon. What you SHOULDN’T do is throw a tantrum like a toddler because your aren’t getting what you want or insult the author because they, a fellow human being with other things to do with their time, are not writing fast enough to your standards. How about you try writing a 20 part multific that's around 2K words each and update it regularly while being a full-time student/parent/worker, all the while either going through severe writer’s block or inspiration for writing a different piece altogether. Authors and bloggers alike are not perfect, nor do they claim to be. Cut them some slack and back. Off.

To the authors that have deleted their blogs for these other personal reasons, I first want to say that even though I may not know the details surround your circumstances, I understand the need to put yourself before others in order to be at peace. So in that, I say: “Four for you, Glen Coco.” Huge and amazing props to you for putting your mental/emotional/physical wellbeing over the wants and desires of others. I know that for many of you, it was most likely a very tough decision and a very painful time, but if it ultimately led you to feel peace or more at one with yourself, I applaud you for that. Even if you just transferred to another blog, that is still a great thing considering what may have been going on at the time. Things weren’t going so well, but you decided to start afresh! Go you! Secondly, I want to thank you. Not just for sharing your amazing talent with us, but for sharing YOU with us. You, who brought smiles to so many faces. You, who may have made us squeal inhumanly loud at the fluff, or cry uncontrollably at the angst, or have to take multiple cold showers after reading the smut. Thank you. You didn’t have to, but you did, and that made all the difference. Thank. You. And even if you are no longer writing on here or other places on the internet, I hope that you continue to develop your wonderful talent and share it with kindred spirits. Bless.

If you are contemplating deleting your blog for any of the above reasons or other personal ones, please know that whatever you chose, if it makes you happy in the end, I support your decision. Life is full of constant struggles and we never know if the choices we make are the right ones until after we make them, sometimes long after the fact. I can be a pessimist at times, but I like to think of life as a roller coaster. When you’re feeling down and miserable, I believe that at some point, things will start to look up. Your choices can either speed up or slow down that inevitable incline, but sooner or later, it will happen. Whatever you choose, try to make sure that it will make YOU happy in the long run. I believe in you. And if you ever need someone to talk to, my door is always open, along with my bag of doggo pics to try and brighten your day.

The Ghost Of You {Chapter 4}

Ch 1 Ch 2 Ch 3 Ch4

Seemingly now unable to comprehend the fact that they were now communicating with two spirits Logan tumbled onto the couch with a soft thud, nearly landing on Roman who squeaked and shifted quickly to this left as dust particles danced around the two of them, the camera fell to the side of the couch next to him, Roman grabbed it and saw it displayed a low battery sign and in that instant, it died in his hands.

“Oh, my goodness!” Patton yelped as he ran over to where Logan lay, he dropped to his knees next to the bespectacled human as Roman waved a hand in front of Logan’s face to check he was completely unconscious, having now recovered from his own fainting spell, though still looking very shaken he glanced at Patton who looked so upset once again at doing this to someone, Roman shifted uncomfortably and decided he wanted to be closer to Virgil he set the camera down on the arm of couch and left Patton who was now waving his hand in a fanning motion in front of Logan’s face.

“Jesus Christ…” muttered Virgil shining his flashlight between Logan and Thomas, Roman had now joined his side eyeing the second spirit that had appeared, he had soft brown hair that was quite similar to Patton’s style wise though he had a splash of purple on his fringe his chocolate brown eyes looked very warm and friendly, he was wearing a pink shirt with a gold star in the middle and it hit Virgil that these were the clothes these two had died in…guess they had more than one of their favorite garment… Virgil thought as a wave of sadness washed over him, he glanced back up at Thomas who gave them a lopsided smile whilst at the same time seeming shy in himself but it seemed to give him an air of mystery, Virgil noted all of these observations storing them away in his brain for…maybe later, Virgil also noticed the way that Thomas held himself, his body language seemed similar to his own.

“Last time I checked,” Thomas remarked, now bouncing back and forth on the balls of his feet, Virgil’s face fell.

That was their entire aim of going there anyway but they were all still reeling from Patton’s reveal, and Virgil was sure Logan was going to have a proper meltdown once he awoke.

“uh… Hi” Roman finally spoke up interrupting the silent awkwardness that had been building much to Virgil’s relief, “hiya” a small mischievous smile slowly pulled at the spirit’s lips, quickly as it came it left he then nodded to Logan.

“Is he going to be alright?” Thomas enquired now with concern in his voice.

“uh yeah he should be” Roman was still trying to find his voice still gawking as this young man stood in front of them luckily, he seemed patient enough understanding that this was going to take some time for the three men to fully process everything.

I mean it’s not every day that he gets to speak to humans, so this was more than intriguing, also a chance to have some fun and these three seemed like the perfect candidates for a bit of poltergeist mischief Thomas thought to himself seemingly lost in his feelings.

Virgil stepped forward hesitantly towards him

“Thomas?”

“hm?” he was brought back to the situation at hand as the flashlight was shined towards his chest

“so…what happened here? it’s kind of been a mystery for 20 years now, you think…you could give us any answers. Either of you?” Virgil winced asking this knowing that both the spirits could instantly vanish and cut off communication at any point, but they so desperately wanted to know if anything to get closure on this, maybe they could help their families or tell them something that could help ease the pain of there loss? As Virgil thought this, he was surprised to hear Thomas’s voice in the air again.

“I…” Virgil noticed that Thomas stole a glance at Patton who met his eyes with sadness, it was like he wanted to say but couldn’t, his mouth hanging open the words were on the tip of his tongue until he finally sighed “I’m sorry….I don’t remember”

Virgil could always tell when someone was lying but whatever reason these spirits had to do so was beyond him, he glanced down disappointed as a long exhale came out of Roman he put his hands on his hips and surveyed the scene before him, Thomas made his way over to Patton who was still tending to Logan, he sat down next to him on the couch and they smiled at each other, the other two did the same, Virgil bent down next to Logan and lightly tapped his face.

“Lo? Buddy wake up” with another tap he started to stir, slowly coming around the slits of his eyes peered open to find two pairs of eyes in black framed glasses staring back at him, Logan’s eyes grew wide as Patton looked down at him his face full of concern,

“Oh my gosh are you ok, is there anything we can do for you?”

He was starting to get emotional again Logan started edging away from the spirit as a small squeak escaped his lips, Thomas leaned over him gently grabbing Patton’s shoulder

“Hey Pat, maybe give him some space, he’s probably feeling very overwhelmed,” he said in a fatherly tone.

Seeing Thomas to the other side of him he leapt up from the couch and Virgil could see his hands were trembling he put his own hands up in an attempt to calm Logan, but he knew once his intelligent friend became freaked he would end up going on some kind of tangent about how illogical this was before wearing himself out.

“Oh god, oh god oh god…” he kept repeating himself trying to find the words to communicate what he wanted to say, his voice broke as he started pacing whilst the two spirits looked on, Patton wearing a worrisome frown whilst Thomas was staring with same concern though it had a hint of amusement behind it, Roman noticed how Thomas’s hand slowly rose to his mouth to cover a growing smile.

“Dude you need to chill!” Virgil pleaded wincing slightly he knew both Roman and Logan had a temper which was not what any of them needed right now he didn’t want to scare Patton and Thomas off, not now that they had finally deemed it safe to be seen.

“This-this is just a dream, a highly illogical dream that had to be it-“Logan was breathless from pacing so quickly and it looked like they were all watching a tennis match going on following him left to right repeatedly, Virgil shook his head as he approached him.

“Logan…they’re real” Virgil declared

“FALSEHOOD!” Logan screeched pointing at the spirits sat on the couch making Patton jump looking terrified and hurt but Thomas was now stifling giggles “you-you are dead, it is scientifically impossible for you to even be here the stastici-“ words were now spilling from him in quick succession, he was getting hysterical looking around manically trying to make sense of what he was witnessing, Roman stood up from the couch making his way to Logan and grabbing him by the shoulders “Logan!” he called but was ignored as Logan continued “- be here the experiments that have been performed –“

“Logan!” Roman yelled again

“-have been proven correct so that means-“

“God sake, pull yourself together specs!” Roman screamed above Logan’s rant and without thinking he raised his hand, Virgil didn’t get the chance to grab it in time as Roman’s hand crashed across Logan’s face sending his glasses askew, Patton let out a small yelp and Thomas ceased his giggling staring eyes wide.

Everything was silent for a while save for Logan, Roman and Virgil’s heavy breathing of shock, Roman exhaled as the realisation of what he did hit him “Logan, I’m so sorr-“but Logan raised his hand stopping him in tracks as he adjusted his glasses “No, Thank you Roman I..” he trailed off and Roman understood what he meant as Logan came back to his composed state strangely it seemed to have stopped him from going into full melt down mode Logan glanced over at Patton and Thomas who stared back, Roman led him back to the couch wiping his face in his hands.

“Dude it’s a lot simpler than…whatever you were trying to say” Thomas piped up as Logan glared at him.

With all four of them sitting on the couch Virgil surveyed them all about to speak but a sudden thud from upstairs echoed throughout the house, they all looked up as Logan scowled at the spirits sitting next to him, he shifted away from them slightly moving closer to Roman.

“Are you doing this?”

Patton looked like he was on the brink of tears again “what! No of course not!”

“Then what is it?” Roman asked suspiciously still glancing up, both ghosts had gone eerily quiet avoiding eye contact now “Well? Are you going to tell us what’s going-“Virgil started

THUD

They all screamed in unison as the desk from the upstairs bedroom came crashing down the stairs.

Silence.

“Nope!”

Roman threw his hands up in the air having reached his limit now, he shot up from the couch running the front door and Logan followed suite “a wise decision”

“Hey Woah Woah wait!” Virgil called after them

“No! I am done Virgil we’re leaving!” Roman yelled back

Virgil looked between his friends who were at the front door and the ghosts sitting on the couch, Thomas raised his eyebrows looking like he was wondering what choice Virgil was going to make, Patton, on the other hand, held his arm out with a pleading look in his eyes “Wait! Please!” Virgil was torn he wanted answers and to desperately help these spirits there must have been a reason why they hadn’t been able to move on yet but there was something clearly dangerous lurking within these walls and his anxiety was screaming for him to get the hell out of there now, how had these two lived with this thing for so long?

Hearing the car engine started up outside he looked hopelessly between at the spectres “I-I’m sorry! We-I’ll come back!” he called as multiple thuds were now heard, glancing around at the place once more looking terrified he felt his stomach twisting in knots from guilt as he sprinted out the front door slamming it shut behind him, forgetting the camera Logan had that was sitting on the arm of the couch.

A/N: Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed it! I got to say I’m not completely happy with it, I spent ages editing and changing the first half because I just felt like it wasn’t right or didn’t fit but I hope it’s okay now! And I’m sorry if Thomas’s character isn’t written well I tried to do a balance of shy and yet mischievous, also yes it is meant to be awkward between Thomas and Patton and we will find out why in later chapters (I actually have the whole mystery figured out and the ending) ;) the scene I was seriously torn about putting in was Logan getting slapped I struggled with if it would be in Roman’s character or not but I decided to put it in as I figured he would be the one to do it if Logan ever got too hysterical, not sure if that makes any sense? There is literally only one thing that has annoyed me massively about aos season 5a - the injuries.

Look, I don’t expect much medical accuracy from a show about super-spies and comic book aliens. GH23 works? Ok. That black Kree goop in a little bottle gives you rage and super-strength? Ok, awesome. Asgardians can survive at high altitude? Ok, I’ll buy it. Creepy silver ear goop? Fine. The T.A.H.I.T.I. machine would never work in a million years, but I don’t care because of the Rule Of Cool. Stuff works because of the Darkhold? Not a problem!

But Shield has done a much better job in the past with the fact that injuries take a toll and none of their main characters really have a healing factor. The way the shows been written so far this season May, Fitz, and Elena would all be dead and Mack would have a TBI. Humans are made of mostly water and while we’re amazingly resilient in a lot of ways, we’re really not that durable.

Cut for descriptions of injuries and medical procedures and ranting.

Oh look, I’ve been impaled - May would have bled out before she ever got back to the others in 5x1. Obviously the pipe missed the main artery, but the amount of blood that’s moving through the major muscle groups in the thigh is A Lot. A tight bandage is not gonna do the trick. Without a hospital they would have had to cauterize that wound, both sides of it, quickly and it’s implied humans don’t really know much about cauterization anymore because of what Jemma did, so I doubt Deke managed that. That May would keep limping around on it through sheer force of will is not in question, but she would have lasting damage in that leg if she survived. Due to the delay in real medical attention, limited mobility and strength in that leg in the future would basically be guaranteed.

Metrics - Don’t get me started on the Metrics. You want to slot a stiff metal tube between the two main bones in the forearm that rotate and have no ill-effects? Suuuure. I’m not applying the Rule Of Cool here, because there were so many other ways they could have tagged everyone in the lighthouse. I’d put it down to ease of prop use, which is a totally valid thing to have to deal with, but they made a point multiple times of installing the things in the show.

Gunshot wounds - You can’t shrug off bullet wounds? That’s just not an option. Daisy was shot by the LMDs in the shoulder and thigh. By 5x1 it’d been about a week since that. Fitz was shot in the upper left of his belly in 5x7. They did not show that as a graze. There’s some important things in that general area, like your stomach, pancreas, and intestines. But he was fine by 5x8? No???

TV generally latches onto ‘gotta get the bullet out OR ELSE’ but if its a small bullet with no reason to think there’s some contaminant involved or something toxic about the metal that’s usually not the priority. The problem is the speed and how the slug comes apart. Even for a gunshot wound that doesn’t involve bone fractures or internal damage, the usual recovery time for the bodily trauma and muscular damage is weeks. Shoulders are complicated. Daisy’s shoulder would still be a big problem, presuming the shot to the thigh was somehow minimal muscular damage. Fitz would be screwed.

Cuts - May has lacerations to her upper arm and her side right now that I don’t think anyone ever bothered to stitch. Deke got stabbed in the belly a couple episodes ago? Again, muscle damage assuming the blade missed all the important squishy stuff. Coulson has a laceration across his chest that he’s hidden for obvious reasons, but hiding it doesn’t make it stop bleeding. Also, he got hit across the face with a pipe hard enough to knock him sideways and split the skin. It would have bled like crazy. They never even put pressure on it. Now it’s just a little scab? It would still be pretty swollen at a minimum.

Arms - Yoyo would have bled out. A blanket is not a tourniquet??? I know the accuracy of the bleeding is limited by TV ratings, but that would have been arterial bleeding from both arms. It would have looked way, way worse. She would have bled out very fast, especially with her powers. Also, Simmons is not a damn surgeon! Jemma is not anywhere near qualified to serve as a medical doctor. Biochemistry and medicine are two different things with a lot of overlap and they made a great point of this back in season 2. Season 3 did a really good job with the medical stuff as far as TV-land.

Even if Simmons did pick up an MD between seasons 3 and 4 somehow, that’s two arms, one Simmons, and they just happened to have enough of Yoyo’s blood type on the Zephyr after it was impounded for almost 7 months? Also, a traumatic amputation like that generally requires multiple surgeries to fix.

I’m not even wading in to the issues with serious muscular bruising. Someone else can add on if they feel like it. May’s been beat to hell this season. Coulson, Daisy, and Mack are battered too. They’d be slowed down by it.

Finally, just in case, there is no reason in the real world to inject something right into somebody’s neck. That is primo TV bullshit right there. The neck is wiggly and full of all kinds of important structural bits. (legit medical terminology right there) There are other way more accessible places to inject stuff.

I am not a medical professional. I read too much and my background has a bit of biopsychology and emergency wound care training. If I’ve said something incorrect in this post let me know.

Why is my car insurance going up if I have a good driving record?

I just moved about a block from my old rental (old lease was for 2 years) so I updated my address at my insurance. The policy went up to about 100$ a month which I don't understand because I have been told I am low risk and in the preferred age category 25+. I have a cousin about 9 years older who has multiple accidents, claims and tickets who only pays 60$. So what the heck is going on? I am comparing apples to apples on deductibles but it seems as if the insurance companies are punishing me for having a clean record with no accidents.
