Do you have any thoughts/"headcanons" on what life was like for Rosalie between 1933 - 1935? Namely the time between her change to when she found Emmett? I can't imagine her sitting back and being all "is this my life now??" in regards to her and Edward's early relationship. Thanks! I hope you're having a good day!

I imagine those first few years were rough. For everyone. 

Obviously Rosalie is dealing with a lot of a trauma, and once she got her revenge … what’s left? What does she have to look forward to in this life of being frozen forever? I’m sure it felt really bleak to her. She finds Edward rude and HATES that he can read her mind, that she has no privacy from him. She resents Carlisle for ‘saving’ her because she’d rather be dead. But she’s terrified of going off alone, she needs and wants people around, so logic dictates she bonded with Esme. Esme being female, not making a bad first impression like Edward, and not being responsible for her vampiric conversion makes her the easiest to open up to just on a surface level, and then deeper than that, Esme has similar experience of being betrayed and abused by someone she was supposed to build a life and future with. Also, she’s Esme. 

Carlisle is having to take a hard look at himself in the mirror and wonder if his desire to ‘help’ is sometimes a bad thing, that comes from a god complex. SM mentioned that Carlisle’s decision to ‘save’ Rosalie was influenced by his other decisions to change Edward and Esme. Edward is mopey and angsty, but he doesn’t seem to blame Carlisle at all, and they have an incredible bond and Carlisle gained his first companion, a disciple, a son. All in all, worked out pretty well. So that success influenced him to change Esme, which worked out even better. While the thirst was a problem, she didn’t angst the same way Edward did, and she and Carlisle quickly fell in love. So he’s two for two in transformation successes and he finally has the companionship and understanding and love of like-minded vampires he has always longed for. And then he finds this dying girl who never got to live a life and knows medicine can’t save her, but vampirism could. And maybe, just maybe, she and Edward can find the happiness together he and Esme have. Maybe this is Fate. God’s will, just like Edward and Esme were. So he changes her. And she HATES it and is furious and it’s like, okay, whoa, better reevaluate myself and my choices here. I think it’s significant that after Rosalie, Carlisle only changes ONE other person, and only because Rosalie herself demands that he do it. I think if not for Rosalie’s request, Carlisle would have never changed anyone ever again after this.

So Rosalie is furious and hurt and upset; Esme is trying to soothe and comfort her; Carlisle’s doing some soul-searching and wracked with guilt and then there’s Edward. Who is back from his murder experiment and carrying his own guilt about that, and finds his new sister to be shallow and vain. But I do wonder if there isn’t something to Edward’s initial “ugh Rosalie” that is like when parents bring a new baby home. Edward was used to being the only ‘child’ as it were, and now there is this NEW one, and she seems to be demanding all of their attention, and she has changed things A LOT. He’s emotionally 17; I could see part of him resenting her just for those reasons. 

We do get a little more detail about all of this in Midnight Sun; Edward and Rosalie have a deeper conversation while Emmett is transforming and that’s when they really establish a brother-sister connection that, while antagonistic on the surface, has deeper, more loving roots. 

But I think those two years were tough on everyone and that Emmett was exactly what not only Rosalie needed, but what all of them needed. They needed someone with his energy and enthusiasm and Hakuna Matata sort of view of life to help them all heal and bond and laugh again.

But know matter how much Snow loved you, it was not going to stop her from being pissed off about the fact that you helped Bigby slip away when she was scolding the man.

Pouting, you stepped closer to Snow hoping to at least calm your lover.

“Snow! I’m sorry.” Bating your eyelashes at her, you wrapped your arms around her neck as you gave her a gentle kiss. “Do you forgive me.”

Shoulders sagging, Snow pressed her forehead to yours. She knew it was no use, she knew how close you and Bigby were. “Yes…yes I forgive you.” She then cupped your cheeks as she gave you another kiss.

Grinning you pulled back then grabbed her hand giving it a squeeze. “Great! Now let’s get some food! I am starving.”

Hey, do you know where I can find resources to stop feeling guilt about being trans, male, and straight? I used to ID as a nonbinary lesbian to avoid being accused of straight privilege, but got away from the people who pressured me to ID that way. But now I’ve been seeing more talk from other trans men about transhets being the privileged ones and I realized I’ve never gotten over the internalized guilt and privileged person = bad person mentality.

I know it's been recommended to death to every single person on this website, but genuinely, read Stone Butch Blues.

It's free, it digs into the specific experiences of transmascs who love women and have a relationship to the lesbian community, and it's a really good way of learning our history and gaining some perspective on these things.

The main character isn't specifically a trans man, but they exist in that space and adjacent to it (and that fluctuates throghout), and it's a really good place to start.

That said:

Straight trans folks are not "more privileged", because being trans isn't just, like, disadvantage on privilege rolls, and being straight isn't a +1 to your modifier or something, and that shit does not stack like we are playing D&D.

Transness doesn't change the flavor of a gender; socio-politically speaking, it changes the gender itself. It's a different gender entirely. "Straight" is not the same when applied to someone who is accepted as neither fully male nor fully female, because socio-politically, "straightness" does not exist for people who aren't cis men and cis women.

You are doing something radical by claiming it as a trans person, and it's a shame that other queer people fail to see the ways in which straight trans people queer the concept of straightness itself.
