SW - ALL TYPES OF LOVE WEEK

INFO

Star Wars: All Types of Love week is a fandom event of fancreations, lasting a week, that celebrates love in its many forms! Since we celebrate romantic love and familial love often, we thought it might be time to give an opportunity for other kinds of love to shine!

Inspired by the Ancient Greek Philosophers and their seven kinds of love, we aim to showcase those different, less celebrated loves. Rooting for the little guys!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

No sign-up, nothing. Just create!!!

Post during the appropriate week and you’re good!

We welcome any kind of creation, as long as it is truly yours. Even old posts being reblogged is fine! Old creations deserve as much love as new ones.

Fanfics, fanarts, moodboards, fanvids, fancomics, banners, playlists… An epic fic or a 100 word drabble, an amazing painting or a stick figures funny scene- we love it all!!

WHEN TO POST

Wednesday 7th of February, 00h00 PST, to Wednesday 14th of February, 23h59 PST.

HOW TO POST

Post under the tag SWATOLW during the week the event is running. Add the tag of the type of love you are representing.

Be sure to @ us so we can appreciate what you’ve made and put it in the round-up!

WHAT TO POST

Star Wars characters, places, animals, games… Be it from the movies, the novels, the comics, the shows like The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, Andor or even your own OC, the important parts are:

It must be from the Star Wars fandom

It must be about Love and that love must be not romantic or familial

To get a better idea of what we mean by that, you can read more about the seven types of love here. In short, we want to give a chance to shine to:

Love of Friends #philia

Love of Strangers #agape

Love of Partners #pragma

Love of Players #ludus

Love of Self #philautia

You can post about any of these, at any time of the week. There isn’t a day assigned to each type. The point is to create without pressure and celebrate all the types of love we don’t often focus on! The more of these you depict, the more we will love you for it!

QUESTIONS

“I love my two clones who are bffs, but they are clones. Does their love count as familial?”

Well, the truth rather depends on your point of view how you present it.

Pairs like Fives and Echo, and Rex and Cody, are usually understood in canon and fandom to be family. They can be friends too, but we’d prefer to focus on other pairs for this event. Post another time. We’re sure people will love it.

Alpha-17 and Cody have a cross-generational friendship? As long as the way their relationship is described/shown isn’t the dynamic of big brother & younger brother, or father figure & son figure, it’s good!

Want to show off Waxer & Boil being two peas in a pod? We would love that! As long as it isn’t a ship or they, the characters, don’t feel like the other is kin in the way we understand it.

“I want to show my two Mandalorians who are Partners In Bounty Hunting, but they are from the same clan. Does this work?”

No. I’m sorry, but it does not. We consider clan to be the SW equivalent of immediate family, a close circle, so it’s not the right event for this. But it does work if they are just from the same house or faction!

“Can I do two Jedi who are teammates and lovers?”

You can show any characters (two, three, four…) having a relationship that is sexual and based on love. As long as that love is not romantic.

If what moves your Jedi is the sense of purpose found in duty, the common love for the Light and the wider galaxy, the playfulness and affection shared between bed partners, these feelings can be as big as the moon, and it is still fine!

That is the whole point!

Feelings can be enormous and serious and important and still not be romantic or familial.

But if it’s shown or implied that the relationship is romantic/familial or turning so at some point, that is not what our event is focused on.

We know people are a bit tired from the holidays and that Valentine’s Day is a period often rich with events, which is why we put these conditions so it can be as low-pressure as possible. The point is to rejoice in all the breadth and the richness of the human sentient experience of love. In the love of Star Wars. And in the love of this community.

Be civil and show goodwill to participants and spectators. Be kind. YKINMKATO. Go crazy! Be creative! Have fun!

We are delighted to once again bring you -

Hannigram A/B/O Big Bang

We are continuing to alternate Big Bang and Reverse Bangs, and so we're back with the writers back in the saddle, however please note we do have a few changes this year!

The main change is that this year the event will essentially be split into two parts and writers must complete their fics before claims take place in order to continue to participate. The time will be split equally - four months for writers and then four months for artists. This is reflected in the word count expectations, and is to make sure the event is as seamless and enjoyable for everyone as possible. More information below!

We’ve split it up this year so that the writers and artists both get four months each to complete their work.

Writers: November to March Artists/Media Creators: April to August

We’re hoping this will be a fairer split of equal time for all participants.

Rules

In order for this to run as smoothly as possible and to retain focus on creators within the fandom, there are a few rules we have put in place, including some sign up criteria. Please read thoroughly before signing up.

Participation:

You don’t need to be massively active in the online fandom, but you MUST have created something for it previously. With your signup you will be asked to provide links to any fandom accounts you wish (tumblr, ao3, etc), and also for a link to at least one specific post with an example of your work.

You MUST ensure you have the time and capacity to take on the challenge before signing up. Please do not sign up unless - barring a change in circumstances/real life - you are confident you will be participating.

You MUST be over 18 years old to take part in this event, due to the mature content.

All sign ups and claims will be managed through google forms. We will be explaining each step of the process via email, with links to forms, as we go. But if anyone would like clarification on anything, please get in touch.

Once matched, the team will be given each other’s contact details (email and tumblr), so please ensure you are comfortable with this, and provide suitable details. The teams will also be announced via email to participants, and shortly thereafter on our social media platforms.

You may enter as both a writer and as an artist/media creator, but you may not create for your own art/media.

All works should be brand new. No previously posted WIPs or remixes.

Sequels and prequels will only be allowed if they work as a standalone piece.

Drafts and WIPs cannot be posted anywhere ahead of time, including to Patreon, Kofi Gold etc. Feel free to post about your process and experience, but no snippets, teasers or WIPs aside from the official promo postings.

Writers -

The minimum word count is 3000 words.

The upper limit is 20,000 words.

The fic MUST be complete as a standalone story by the due date.

The main pairing must be Hannibal and Will. You can include other pairings (Marlana, Bedannibal, Spacedogs, etc), but the main focus must be Hannigram.

Any rating and warnings are allowed, you MUST ensure you include all relevant ratings, warnings and tags.

Any tropes or genre welcome, canon and AU allowed.

Submission: In March, you will have a week to submit your finished work in order to continue to participate. You will also be asked to complete a short form with information about the work, including any tags, summary and snippet in order to give the artists/media creators more information for claims. Complete fics will only be made available to the appropriate teammate when the teams are paired, they will not be provided to artists/media creators during claims.

Claims: Will take place April 19 - 25. Once the claims have been processed, we will let you know who you have been matched with.

Check In: You have one solo check in (January), where we will send you a short form (less than 5 mins) to find out how you are getting on and whether you are still planning to participate. We will not be asking for drafts, but we will be asking for a truthful estimation of how complete you feel you are. There will be a team check in (July), in order to ensure you are happy with how things are progressing.

Promotional Banners: (optional) You will need to supply your teammate with the name you will be posting under, and the name of the fic, so this can be added to their banner. These can be posted by you and/or your teammate, along with a snippet of the fic, on social media platforms of your choice (we will RT/Reblog on Twitter, Pf and Tumblr) during the week of 2 - 8 August.

Posting: Your fic must be posted in its entirety on your assigned day, even if it has multiple chapters, they must be uploaded on the same day.

Posting: Your fic must be posted into our AO3 collection with appropriate ratings, warnings and tags. Artists/Media Creators can either post their works to the AO3 collection, or embed in your fic - this is for you to decide as a team. At the least, you must include a link to your teammate’s collaborative piece in your notes.

Artists/Media creators -

The main pairing in your creation must be Hannibal and Will. You can feature other pairings (Marlana, Bedannibal, Spacedogs, etc), but the main focus must be Hannigram.

You will be required to produce one work for claims. You can optionally also choose to create a promotional banner - which can be a WIP or a snippet of part of the completed work. If your media doesn’t lend itself to a banner but you’d still like to post a promo, let us know and we will assist.

Art/Media can be any of the following -

It’s been a long, stressful week. So, I’m going to drunk-watch Twilight (this is part 1, I’ll do a part 2 later). So far, I have drunk watched and reviewed Eclipse, Breaking Dawn Part 1, and Breaking Dawn Part 2. I will probably drunk-watch and review New Moon some time in the near future. My sober review of Twilight is that it is the best of all the movies (But New Moon though, I know, it’s a very close second for me). I love that it was meant to be like a cool, niche indie film and Catherine Hardwicke is the best. The baseball scene. The meadow scene. The bio scene. Iconic. Anyway, my drunken thoughts are below the cut as per usual:

- So I know it’s like .0 seconds into this ish, but I just realized when Bella’s tlakign about dying in the place of someone she loves @ the beginning, we see the deer and then in BD2, when the mountain lion tries to kill the deer, Bella kills the mountain lion. Feels like symbolism idk.

- Phil really is like 25 years old lmao. Does it ever say how old he is? He looks young af.

- Forks seems super depressing. Like the scenery is cool, but like there’s no one there? Only 3,000 people? Boring af.

The time has come! We’re ready to get the Hannigram A/B/O Reverse Bang underway... Below you will find the pertinent information. If there is anything that hasn’t been covered or you have more questions about, please do get in touch. We will happily respond here, on Twitter, Pillowfort or via email, and where appropriate add the information to an FAQ. Participant Criteria:

You don’t need to be massively active in the online fandom, but you MUST have created something for it previously.

With your signup you will be asked to provide links to any fandom accounts you wish (tumblr, ao3, etc), and also for a link to at least one specific post with an example of your work.

You MUST be over 18 years old to take part in this event, due to the mature content.

Creative Content:

These rules have all been set with consideration to making this as easy for a partnership to work with as possible, including pairing choices, word lengths and media contribution numbers -

You may enter as both a writer and artist/media creator, but you may not create for your own art/media.

All works should be brand new. No previously posted WIPs or remixes. Sequels and prequels will only be allowed if they work as a standalone piece.

Artists/Media creators -

The main pairing in your creation must be Hannibal and Will. You can feature other pairings (Marlana, Bedannibal, Spacedogs, etc), but the main focus must be Hannigram.

You will be required to produce one work for claims, and a promotional banner - which can be a WIP or a snippet of part of the completed work. If your media doesn’t lend itself to a banner, we will be in contact with you about other arrangements.

Art/Media can be any of the following - - Traditional art (scanned or photographed to upload) - Digital art - High quality/complex photomanipulations, aesthetics, edits, banners (the expectation is that this work should be transformative - i.e. a degree of imaginative input/creative effort needs to be evident in the work) - Playlists (5 songs or less, and should not include music from the show) - Fanvids - Arts and crafts (scanned or photographed to upload) - Anything else? If we have missed something you feel would be a relevant media contribution, please send us an ASK or go ahead and sign up with a link to your work as an example

Check In: You have one check in (December), where we will send you a short form (less than 5 mins) to find out how you are getting on and whether you are still planning to participate. There will be a team checkin in May, in order to ensure you are happy with how things are progressing, etc.

Submission: In February, you will have a week to submit your finished work in order to continue to participate. You will also be asked to complete a short form with information about the work, including any short prompt or idea behind the work, for guidance to the writer. As well as any ratings, tags, warnings you don’t want used in the associated story.

Claims: We will open for Claims to writers on March 1. They will be given until March 5 to claim. Once matched up, we will be letting everyone know which writer they are matched with.

Team Communication: It is important that you have an initial conversation with your writer once matched, so that you are all on the same page before moving forward. After that the level of communication is down to you and your partner, but please be clear with them whether you are happy to leave it with them, want an overview as they go along, or something in between. At the least, we’d expect writers to share their finished story with their teammate before it gets posted publicly.

Promotional Banners: This needs to be a snippet - a close up or teaser - of the work. A WIP as a teaser is also acceptable. The banner must include the name of the fic and both names of the teammates - guidelines will be given for this, including for those creating media that may not be easily made into a banner. These can be posted by you and/or your teammate, along with a snippet of the fic, on social media platforms of your choice (we will RT/Reblog on Twitter, Pf and Tumblr) during the week of May 31 to June 7.

Posting: For visual art, please ensure this is posted with appropriate resolution and dimensions for the platform(s) you post to. If you need guidance on these please let us know.

Writers -

The minimum word count is 3000 words.

As the art will already be complete, there is no upper word limit on the fanfic. However, please ensure the fic is complete as a standalone story by the due date.

Any rating and warnings are allowed by the event, HOWEVER you must check with your artist/media creator that they are comfortable with this. They will be asked to submit their preferences, which you will be made aware of at claims. But further discussion should take place, especially for any potentially triggering tags.

Any tropes or genre welcome, canon and AU allowed. However, this should be discussed with your artist/media creator, in case they have strong preferences on it.

Claims: Will take place March 1 - 5. You will be asked to select several art/media in no particular order. We will do our best to match you with one of these. Once the claims have been processed, we will let you know who you have been matched with.

These can be posted by you and/or your teammate, along with a snippet of the fic, on social media platforms of your choice (we will RT/Reblog on Twitter, Pf and Tumblr) during the week of May 31 to June 7.

Posting: Your fic must be posted in its entirety on your assigned day, even if it has multiple chapters, they must be uploaded on the same day.

Withdrawing:

Again, please ensure you have the capacity, time and enthusiasm before signing up!!
