I chose to do my analysis on the video art presented by the band Devo in Jocko Homo. This is completely different than any television show or movies in many different ways. From the description of the video this band was made up of art students that decided to take music and make it into an art form. Compared to the other video art that we had a choice from one can say that Jocko Homo is just a music video. Though the music is an accurate representation of the video since both the video art and the music itself don’t tell a concise story. If I would have watched this video without any description or knowing that this was video art I would have thought the music to be terrible, and the video to be almost creepy. What I mean by that is there is no story to the video. That is actually one of the biggest differences between tv shows and visual art. I love horror movies and love watching scary videos, I also like art so I have no clue how but watching Jocko Homo by Devo made me think of another video art that I had seen when I was younger which was “Transfiguration” a performance of Oliver de Sagazan I will leave a link to that video art for anyone that is curious. A brief description that I can tell about the video is that Oliver de Sagazan starts to put on layers upon layers of clay onto himself until he makes himself into a living work of art. It is disturbing and creepy but I guess in some weird way Jocko Homo made me think of that visual art due to the fact that there is not really a story, but there is a meaning to their video art and that is the devolution of humans. While “Transfiguration” has the opposite meaning of Jocko Homo in that video art the meaning is to evolve as humans into art.

Sitting up in a panic as I throw my bedding inside.  Feeling the cool, night air on my skin, begging a sigh of relief.  Still, there is no tangible proof.  Therefore, nervously, I stumble into the bathroom to look in the mirror.  At first I see a child there: who dissolves into a man.  Corruption leaking out where solvent cannot reach.  In the eyes, mostly, large and watery.  Gazing back, amorphous.
Nothing is fixed.  No matter how hard I try to make it that way.  The child knew it, too, but could not look away.
Closer than I ever thought it could be.  Even as the real man, sagging around his aching bones, looks away.  Fruiting tenant – original seed.  Image, planted, that was not there before, yet has always existed.   Mental thrombosis dividing pain from numbness.  I’ve not allowed it to intervene for a reason.
There are set rules.  Laws against regression.  Past is past –
