I think it’s be really funny if there was a story where olu was forced to put the prince facade back on but with Jim there instead of frenchie. So instead of having an assistant to help as he needs he has an intimating bodyguard that scares everyone off

nobody's gonna see this but fuck it

the reason I love ofmd is because it shows what it means to be queer and trans and neurodivergent. like that's it. everyone is a little into each other, any kind of relationship goes and there's no questioning from everyone else. their identities don't get in the way of their character arcs. jim gets to be trans and poly and there doesn't need to be 3 episodes to explain it. stede and ed? bro that's literally autism4autism. there's no male gaze or female gaze. that soft ass ponytail ed was rocking is straight up queer gaze. the love story gets to progress beyond what any queer story written for/by straight people could do and way beyond the typical hetero romance. I love the humanity of it all. I love the way people can do bad things but they can still be loved. they can be in the wrong and need to change their actions and mindsets but still be loveable. that's what makes me love it. unconditional acceptance

so i had heard the rumors about jim and oluwande falling apart but i gotta say i am thrilled with how their relationship was handled. they don't fall apart at all; they just grow a bit. it's just a shift. there's nothing in their interaction that ends their connection and nothing that really forecloses a continued romantic connection either.

jim's clear that they are telling olu about archie because olu's their best friend, not because archie has overtaken olu or become more important. olu's surprised but also immediately glad that jim's told him and they can joke about it a bit. oluwande turns around and still takes jim as family to zheng yi sao. they are family! they are best friends! whether there is more in addition remains to be seen, but those base facts do not change and will not.

there's no tension, there's no betrayal, there's no disappointment, it's just - they're happy to be back together, and jim communicates openly as soon as they're able, and there's no drama really. just joy at being together and being able to share together. i'm super excited for how these relationships will continue to develop.

The more hate I see the more I’m going to love OFMD. This show means so much to me. A show of pretty much all queer pirates written primarily by queer people is not something I thought I’d ever get to see. To see middle aged people first discovering their queerness on TV is incredible. I see myself in Ed, Izzy, Stede, Jim, Zheng, so many of the characters. I wish we could have had stuff like this on TV when I was a kid/young adult, but even watching it now has helped me a lot with recognizing I am genderqueer.

Trying to pretend any part of this show is homophobic or being shown in a cis het lens is a joke. This is a show about queer people made by primarily queer people, and just because it doesn’t fully match your queer journey doesn’t mean that’s the case for everyone. You don’t have to get or relate to everything in the show, that doesn’t mean no one else will. It is NOT a bury your gays trope when literally everyone in the show is gay. You can dislike a show or a plot point or a character without calling everything homophobic.

Grow the fuck up honestly.
